Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome to the Marvel Alliance Podcast. We cover anything and
everything to do with the Marvel Universe and the comics.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
TV and movies.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
We will go from Er six, Willom six, to the
Mojo verse of the TVA, and maybe even Red Hook
if it exists, in order to bring to marvel Us
right to you. I'm the Man without Fear, Chris.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
I'm the Nerve with the Mount.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
David Alliance seven BOO Volume two hundred and fifty seven.
And well, we thought, you know, we were gonna have
an episode just of a heck of a conclusion to
Daredevil Born Again season one or just Daredevil Daredevil season four,
whatever you want to call it at that point. But
(00:54):
we got a surprise trailer job that I didn't necessarily
see coming. I had this prediction going on for next
week with the UH with Marchward Cunderbulls. Usually they'd like
doing a the newest trailer coming out the week before.
But man, this is gonna be a good episode. I mean,
we always have good episodes for man, this I like this.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah, it was definitely a surprise. I was going into
today thinking that, all right, well we just we have
a great finale to review, and but that's about it,
and then Marvel decides, all right, we're gonna give you
a gift.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, so it's we got a lot to talk about tonight,
and definitely a lot to talk about with the season
finale of Dreed bil Born Again.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
But how has been your week?
Speaker 3 (01:39):
David h we G has been good, Just been busy
at work. And then today was a light day because
it was my kid's oldest birthday, so today was all
about him. I left work early, took him out to lunch,
to some other things. Unfortunately, he had just been part
of his day getting braces. But he also got Starbucks
right afterwards and got nothing a cold sugar drink to
(02:02):
wash down his pain. So he's living his best life.
He decided to get a new video game in seats,
so he is playing elden Ring right now and I
will see him again in five hundred to seven hundred hours.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Oh there you go.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Like I said, I have thought about going into elden Ring,
but one time, I have a video game backlog that'll
make any I mean, makes my omni collection and Deluxe
edition collection even more sad, just because it's that vast
and you know, I'm a I'm a a lot of
the game systems, even a Steam deck, and I love
(02:38):
playing the older games over and over again, and I'll say,
oh yeah, I'll get to that new game eventually, you
know time. And it's summer soon, so I'll also get
a little time back with that. But but now that
sounds at happy birthday to your to your son, and
you know you're you're dressed appropriately, I'm dressed appropriately. You
know we you know we we we matched up. You
know this is this is the bro man that we
(02:59):
all strive to have. I mean, I sent you a
TikTok saying, yes, this is how friends should be and
how should treat each other at that point exactly. But yeah,
this week's been It's been a long, long and a
lot of a lot of hard work last few weeks
at work. But I've got a four day weekend. I'm
technically going to work on Monday, but it's an empty
building where I can get some stuff done.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
But in laws are in town.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Gonna hopefully get a little bit of chance to sleep
in tomorrow since I actually legitimately have that day off.
But I'm going to see Sinners tomorrow. I'm very excited
about seeing that all afternoon. You know, it's one of
those rare occasions when you can go to a movie
that is just everyone was saying, you know, it's what,
it's what you want it to be.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
And I'm a huge I mean, I'm a.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Big horror fan, not like gross out horror. I appreciate
what that is, but I'm a huge I think if
I had to take a subgenre of horror that I
like zombies and vampires, you know, yeah, I'm definitely there
with you. And now it's got my it's directed by
Brian Coogler, it's got Michael B. Jordan times two, Haley Steinfeld.
(04:05):
So I mean it's all coming up mety you know.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
No, So I.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Plan on seeing that next week when I have some
time off work. This week is busy with WrestleMania season,
so yeah, I'll break for some marvel. I've been busy
with the wrestling.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
I know. It's an interesting TikTok.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I can think if you're if you are, if you
have anyone that's this significant person in your life, that's WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
I enjoy. I don't pay for it.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
I like seeing everyone post the clips on TikTok and
uh X and Twitter and just so I can enjoy
when things are happening right after it says Okay, I'm
still in I'm still in the loop of it.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Now the question is, you know, I know, check out
the gimmick. You know. You guys are going.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Are you going I forget you've got and doing double dose?
Or you do do the whole weekend after day two?
Speaker 3 (04:51):
So we are, depending on how things go, we will
do a post night one show and then a post
night two show. Now I don't know if post night one.
We haven't decided yet, just depending on how things go.
If there's anything major, we will go directly afterwards, so
it will be a late night or we will go
the next morning. Night two will most likely be directly afterwards.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Gotcha.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Okay, Well we will definitely see exactly what's happened to that.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Now, who do we having in to chat?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
We got Julio in the chat saying Marvel's given a
lot of content. Talk about Oh yes, exactly a lot
of great content. So Daredevil Born Again Season one finale,
episode nine entitled Straight to Hell. What are some of
your non spoiler thoughts, David.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Non spoiler thoughts is this is definitely going out with
a bang. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I did
not know if this was going to be just one
standalone season or if they were going to give us
some crumbs for season two, but I think that this
(08:42):
was an amazing way to end this season of Daredevil,
and it gives me not only hope, but it gives
me a wanton urge to get season two coming off
the ground. And I'm very much excited for this I
there was just some moments, especially with Matt and Fisk,
(09:03):
that just blew me away. There were times when I
was literally texting with Brent during it because I'd come
home from a board meeting and he had already seen it.
So I'm texting my thoughts as there happening, And at
one point I said, oh my god, they did this
on Disney. So it just it was a great episode
(09:23):
that just had my jaw drop and I'm always here
for some good Frank Castle moments. And John burnhal once
again and captures every piece of Frank Castle. That man
is perfectly cast.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, it's it was.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
You know, we we've been building up this episode of
this particular you know when we especially knew we were
going to be getting Frank Castle back at one point,
you know, we saw the earlier this season when he returned,
but we'd also you know, college spoilers.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
At that point.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
We did see the screen shot, we did see the
set photos or the controlled leaks, whateveryone want.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
To call it.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
As you know, Frank back in punish your gear, clean
shave and everything. So we knew it does a matter
of time, and after last week we said, all right,
it's he's coming back the next episode.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
But this was a this was a great setup.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
In the sense for what's coming in season two. Like
this was a culmination of a number of plot threads
that had come up together, a lot of you know,
everyone seemed to have kind of some sort of moment,
and by the end, you know, it sends a very
clear message about what is going what has happened, the
journey that Matt has gone through, Wilson Fis has gone through.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Some of the side characters actually give give.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Any kind of care about at that point of what
they're you know, what's happened to them. But I would say,
like you said, the the violence in this got elevated
back to you know, what we got used to in
the Netflix series. And I love it when people get
shocked with when King Bing does something in this episode.
Oh my god, this is crazy, I said, Need we
(11:06):
forget that he has a very interesting history when it
comes to heads and doors or just heads in general.
So yeah, you know, just just you know, it's not often,
but like when he's ready, I mean I saw it
coming from a mile away. When it happened, it was, oh,
we're going to go this way. I just just didn't
know how we were going to go, what we were
going to see in the end, you know.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yeah, that scene amazed me. And again that's that is
the scene that I'm referencing when I said, Holy as
they put this on Disney, because I knew it was
going to happen, I did not think that they were
going to follow through with the entirety of the scene
that way. And I was both shocked and surprisingly pleased
(11:46):
that that's the direction that they went, because it showed
us that peer kingpinness of him that I mean again,
anyone who says that they are shocked, go back to
season one, episode four of the original Devil and from
then on out you knew exactly who you were dealing with.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Yeah, I mean again, it was it Was it a
perfect finale?
Speaker 2 (12:09):
No?
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Was it a very good finale? Yes, that that is.
That is what it is. Julia and the chat saying
that that was very the boy's violent style, Well, I
mean I would say yeah, in the sense that they
do do at that point, but it's what we've we
remember from Whenever Frank Castle gets involved, you know, it's
(12:30):
going to be a lot of uh, you know, literally,
heads are gonna roll over people. There are gonna be
bodies sitting the floor, right yeah. So but all right,
let us take our first ad break before we get
into spoiler says, you know, listeners, he's at you know,
if you haven't seen the final episode of the season,
they're award again, stop watch, come on back. Otherwise we're
(12:52):
gonna spoil the heck out of it. So, as you know, listeners,
these ads help keep the lights on the Geek Ultimate
Alliance Network. We don't get to choose what ads come on.
They could be a bit loud. Give it that three
cap before they come on, three two one. We'll be
right back, all right, and we are back. Okay. So
(13:12):
the episode opens, as we said, entitled straight to Hell,
and that's what basically a lot of these a lot
of what happens to some of these characters they they
go straight to hell. We pick up briefly where we
left off last week when Benjamin dex Point Dexter aka
Bullseye uh shooting at Wilson fists but finding that Matt
(13:34):
Murdoch jumped in front of the bullet.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
So how did we get here? You know?
Speaker 1 (13:39):
And I love it that opens in the blue and
the noise and the kind of screeching that happens. So
we go one year ago and Vanessa Fisk visited Dex
in prison and explained that the former FBI agent Ray
Nadeem scheme to send Wilson to prison from Dared Devil
season three fell apart.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
You know a lot of corruption things like that.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
So now we finally have the official answer that we
all assumed. Now we've got exactly well how he got
out of prison. So Dex is being released into a
same time saying that you know, what worked for to
put him to put her husband in jail is falling apart.
It's the same way they can get him out. So
instead she'll get him out if he kills two people,
(14:22):
you know, Benjamin Cafaro aka dumb Benny and Foggy Nelson.
And I love it that, you know, we know, you know,
Dex bulls Eye has gone under the surgery, but the
pills he's being taken is basically to dulln his senses.
You can tell he's not all there, and especially how
she's manipulating even there by the pills get put down and.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
She slides them away.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah, moves them away.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
And you know it was interesting, you know, you know,
basically dumb Benny, who Foggy was representing. That's who he
was celebrating early that he was going to get a
win on this. And we'll find out later how Foggy
was going to get a win on this one with
dum Benny. He was caught on camera stealing twenty cases
of expensive wine from a bonded warehouse at New York's
(15:13):
Red Hook Port. So we'll find a little bit more
about Red Hook in a little bit. So so is
the King being behind this and he's always a part
of this, Vanessa says, So we get basically what wasn't
Bullseye was signing it with like a marker or a big.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Craw Yeah, a crayon because he's not allowed to have
any sharp objects and he pins or pencils or anything else,
so he writes it with a crayon.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, So, so what did you think about that? Kind
of you know, it's kind of what we talked about,
but just kind of seeing it, what did you think
of the scene.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
We got our answer to exactly how this got off.
So now we know during the blip, you know, it
was explained that this is the time frame in which
she got up, but now we know due to Agent
Nadeem's death, due to the corruption and the FBI and
everything else, that is what he used to parlay his
(16:12):
way into getting off. It still doesn't explain how people
forgave everything else and he became Mayor of New York.
But you know, as we see in real life, sometimes
people look past those indiscretions for looking for hope and change,
and that's exactly what he did. I love seeing this
(16:33):
side of Vanessa though, and just her cunningness and her forethought.
She was obviously playing chess at this point with everything
that she was doing, and it just showed that, Yeah,
she positioned herself in a good, strong role in Fisk absence.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
And again she's she's kingpin, you know, at that point
in time, and I think, really, I wouldn't even call
her the puppeteer with it. They both have their their
motives and they're the ideas of what they're trying to do.
So so we flashed back to the President. We find
Matt treated for his gunshot wound, finally regaining consciousness.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Heather and Kirsten.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Are there and and as he's kind of waking up, he.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Calls out Karen.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Karen is that you, Karen, which doesn't go unnoticed by
his new girlfriend, and Kirsten says, it's okay, it's just
the drugs. It's like nah, nah, she knows, she knows
he's calling out who he's looking for.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
So so it the look on her face, look on
Heather's face when he said Karen, and she just dropped.
And then Matt's partner is over in the corner like, ugh,
that's not a good luck, my god.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
No, so he you know.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
As Murdoch comes to a sentence, he tells Kirsten that
Vanessa ordered that hit on Foggy. The two lawyers try
to remember Foggy's old case and why it would have
been caught Vanessa's eye, but Heather doesn't want to hear
and tells Matt to rust. She even goes on to
defend the fist and Matt again tries to convince her
that he's telling the truth, but to no avail, Like
she said, the fifths are bad, they are bad news,
(18:18):
and she's continued to defend and remember she saved herself
and I appreciate you sending the good TikTok of like oh.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Really did you save yourself? Really? Really?
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Like when you are arm was slice. That's when you
defended yourself when he had you hind up against the wall,
that's when. Oh, when you choking you out, Yeah, when
you stopped yourself from bleeding out, that that was you.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
So anyways, as you see, we're not fans of Heather
on this show. Notes, they're not the actress, just the
character at this point, just because you know she's we
could say she's witting. She she has been written in
portrayed exactly as she should be. At that point, we're
not supposed to like her. So once Matt is back
on his feet literally, both he and Wilson start to
(19:02):
start putting it all together. Wilson and Vanessa regroup after
the attack and reaffirm as he's like bloodied and everything
like that, with in one way or another reaffirmed their
unwavering loyalty for Chos. So all this kind of stuff
that's com bight between them probably helps. That Adam is
dead and she killed him, and they're they're both seeing
eye to eye, and you know, it's always interesting to see,
(19:26):
you know, what came first? Did Wilson genuinely think he
was going to do good at that point, but became
realizing that as one of the episodes, they knows except
for system, the system is doesn't work, and so for
him to get what he wants, he has to bend
the city to his will or manipulate the city in
order to do what he wants to do. And as
(19:48):
you know, Matt Wills say in the end, the system
is broken and he has to realize that he can't
just go about go about with it. So they talk
about that their plans are going to move forward in
billions through the port. So Red Hook, we find out,
is essentially international waters and now the fifth together own it.
(20:12):
Wilson wants to shut down the city, as we slowly discover,
and turn Red Hook into his own little crime empire
that no one can touch.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah, so they say that there was something called the
Red Hook Charter, a historic legal document from eighteen fifty
five that doesn't make support as a free trade zone
exempt from taxes and tariffs. So that is what the
fisks use as a loophole to lunder money through. That
is why Vanessa was having her meetings in that area.
(20:45):
That's why Wilson was so big on revitalizing that area.
Everything was built upon this legal loophole that no one
realized that basically it was a free state and they
could do whatever they want and not be under one's jurisdiction.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Yeah, you know, it'd be very interesting that that had
gone unnoticed for so long and his like left you know,
only only in complic you know, shows and movies, right.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yeah, always some crazy loophole that no one discovered until now,
exactly because plot.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
And so, then the King being goes on the offensive,
declaring an all out war on vigilantes, ultimately setting his
task force lowse He then decides to take care of
his Daredevil problem by excuse me lost where I was
Daredevil problem by ordering Buck, remember you know, gotta love Buck,
(21:42):
you know, discount Wesley to send to send some people
to the hospital to take care.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Of the lawyer once and for all. Here's the thing.
Did he did he tell does Buck know that he's
Daredevil or not?
Speaker 3 (21:56):
I I get the feeling that he does, but it's
not explicitly said that this is you know, these two
are the same people. He does make a comment that
made me think that he does know about a dead
hero versus you know, the live lawyer. So that makes
(22:20):
me think that maybe he does know something, but I
don't know just how versed he has given Buck into
what his true plans are. If Buck is just a
loyal soldier who's like, Hey, you brought me up, you
put me on your payroll. I'm gonna do whatever you say,
no questions asked.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
You know, that's like any good lackey, right, yeap, And
so unfortunately, excuse me. Even before that, this then has
a private meeting with Sheila to set her straight and
ensure everyone working for him is fully committed as a
gender like anyone she's ever sniffed out anything like that.
They're they're fired immediately, like Claria everyone. And she runs
(23:02):
into Commissioner Gallo on her way out, and he tries
to get her to join him in standing against Fist,
and she voices her support.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
I'lbeit reluctantly.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
You know it will I'll say what I want to
say at the end, because it's it's it's very obvious
where this is going. So unfortunately for them, King Pink
gives New York a little kick in the direction that
he wanted to go in by cutting the power to
the city.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
But I can remember she was like, oh yeah, send
my friend in from con ed.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
You know, like yeah, they even said, like the mayor
can't just stick their martial law like that. They can't,
you know it technically can't do that. It's more of
a governor thing. But here we are.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
He's like, in extreme circumstances, I can force the governor's hand.
And next thing you know, no one was out power.
Everything's going crazy. There's riding in the streets and he's
like he's made the perfect storm to get that automatic
martial law.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
And in the cass Buck tries to kill Matt in
the hospital, but he's already escaped. And by then Matt
gets home and he's got a visitor in the dark,
Frank Castle, clean shaven, got the Punisher suit him and
with a new haircut, and also no coffee. Yeah, yeah,
wonder if coffee's code for something. The pair exchange pleasant
(24:23):
We're gonna call it some fun pleasantries because you know,
Red's here, I've got you know, you've got Punisher right there,
you know were they.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Just mix so well?
Speaker 1 (24:33):
And Frank reveals that he got a phone call to
meet Matt there and to keep a promise to make
sure Matt makes it out alive. He's also curious to
know why Matt took a bullet for a kingpin, and
Matt doesn't really have a good answer, which is kind
of interesting, like you would have thought, like, oh, you.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Really don't know.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
So he leaves for a minute to suit up before
the party starts. I absolutely love like his debate with him, Oh,
what do you call this costume?
Speaker 2 (24:59):
What you you know? What do you remember what he
called it?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Oh? I do not remember, not my head right now.
Like night gown, Uh yeah, nightgown man.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Man, Yeah, yep, exactly. That was a false flag operation.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
King Bevin's been doing this all because, I mean he
he even when Buck said, you know that, you know,
Matt getting shot kind of ruins exactly what they had planned.
He said, no, we can still do this. You know,
It's what if he dies at that point, then he's
completely out of our way. It's just kind of interesting
that how for fifth in the amount of times he
(25:36):
he know, he remembers who Matt is. He knows that
he's daredevil, you know how much he he just underestimates
his ability at that point to surprise me.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
I was kind of surprised that what do you feel
about that?
Speaker 1 (25:48):
That it seemed a little brazen for Kingpin to just
think that he could get him this easily.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
You know, yeah, to to send one man into a hospital,
like you saw what happened to him when you basically
did the same thing when Matt visited the jail as
Matt Murdoch and you sent everyone in the jail and
he was still able to escape the jail while you
watched on close circuit video him get his way out.
(26:14):
So you really think that sending one man with a
syringe was going to do it all again. Maybe he
didn't know what Fake Wesley's plan was in order to
take him out. He just gave the order. But someone
like Matt you got to follow through.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
So Matt suits up and the.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Main suit from the original Netflix show, and that's when
the party starts. So they leave his door opened so
as the task Force enters, you know, they can hear,
you know, Matt can hear heartbeats and everything like that.
And they're dressed as little little Home Depot punishers and
they tried to take a both out and my goodness,
(26:58):
Daredevil Punisher you know, just goes to town like Daredevil,
tries to take him out alive, but punisher just doesn't
at that point, and all and all the best like
mcadoos is Frank, stop.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Don't do that. No, and I'm like, take him down.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Yeah, yeh, Daredevils yelling Frank no stop, and all you
hear is the grunts from Frank. And at one point
Frank looks over at him and continues to shoot while
dead staring Matt just like, oh stop doing what doing this?
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Oh no, please don't do that.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I'm more surprised that Frank got like got hit pretty
early on in an area that wasn't protected.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
I was kind of surprised he already took took a
hit quick.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
I guess with that, And I thought the same thing
on my first watch, and then on my second watch,
I thought to myself, Okay, these are the baddest of
the bad. So these guys probably spend a lot of
time in the gun range looking for areas to hit
people to make it seem like, oh, I was just
shooting for protect but I actually killed somebody, so I
could assume that everyone on this task force is a
(28:06):
good shot.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Oh yeah, it was just kind of funny how quickly
he took took one. But you know, can't keep Frank
down so after I mean again, just the utter destruction
of match apartments, and it was almost like that in
a video game, like you You've got to hold out
until you've taken them all down. It just seems like
an endless stream of the amount of different ways that
(28:28):
Frank was able to take them down. It was pretty
It was pretty entertaining, to say the least. But at
one point, as the fight's over, they you know, Frank
makes discovery based on one of the showcase things, saying, hey, Red,
I think I found who who's your your your murderer
of you know, white Tiger that killed Hector Aila, and
(28:51):
that would be Cole North was the one.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
So Cole is sitting there, his hand is stuck to
the wall because he got a knife through it. Matt's
and there like, yes he did this, but I can't
kill him. I mean, now, Matt does have a moment
where he just gets enraged at this fact and absolutely
Billy clubs the crap out of Cold North's face. I
(29:16):
thought maybe he knocked him clean out, but he didn't.
He was still conscious. He was still there. And that's
the point where Frank's like, you know, these guys need
to go like there's no place for keeping these men alive,
and Matt still arguing we they need to live, they
need to face justice. Frank say no, and then the
(29:37):
grenade comes in and they's just abandoned this man altogether.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Yeah, and I just love how Frank said, no, you
take him down, double tap there go bam bam, even
when you're the ones that already did.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Frank scene zombie Land, he knows what that.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
So they're arguing back and forth, but the team but
team up again. When Matt hears the thing and says grenade,
they jump out the window and that that you know,
you know, I them say, you know what you do?
Aim for the bushes in this case, aim for the car,
and they jumped down and Matt holds them. Evers also
closed at that point as they land on a car,
(30:10):
as pulls up and they land on it, and they
had this kind of back and forth. Still, driver pulls up,
exits and it's Karen Page and Frank calls Frank calls
a shotgun and they head back in to the Bunisher's
home base, his fallout shelter as it were.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Yeah, so were you surprised that we saw Karen in
this way.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
I did. When he said someone called and I answered,
I figured at that point it was Karen. I did
not expect Karen to be the person who was pulling
up in this instance. I honestly didn't know who was
pulling up. I didn't even realize that it was someone
saving them pulling up. I thought maybe it was more
more bad guys pulling up like at that moment, I
just truly didn't know. But to see Karen, knowing that
(30:57):
she was already in season two, it made sense and
it was a pleasant surprise to get her right now,
and the moments with her coming out of this for
the rest of the episode also made me smile. So
I'll take it.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Xander Miller from cont cetera, Hello, how are you welcome?
Welcome to the show, and it's it was just nice
to see her come back. You know, It's just one
of those I wasn't put in one of those moments
to Foggy coming back. But again, I'm still in the camp.
I know you're still in the camp at Foggy is
still alive. Even if he's I think that will be.
(31:37):
I just find it very hard to believe they're going
to keep him dead, I do, Yeah, you know not.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
But but we'll see.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
So they get back to the shelter, Frank and Karen
share some some tender moments. Matt and Karen sh had
some tender moments about talking about heartbeats and things like that,
and Frank's.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Just like, nope, I did what I said I was
gonna do. I kept them alive. I'm good.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
You guys go about your way, and Karen calls him
out saying, no.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
You's act like you don't care, but you do.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
And when she leaves with Matt, he quietly mumbles, stay safe.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yep. So does offer some coffee though, yeah, we we do.
We do get a coffee offer.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Yeah, not the coffee he wants though, the king And
so we get back to Kingpinn's ack lifes begin to
put his plan into place. Uh Daniel visiting the city
council basically saying, here's what the new orders are going
to be. And uh, you know, Mayor Fis expects the
city council to vote, and they're not too happy about it. Said, well,
(32:45):
you can either do it or I believe he basically
said they're going to die.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
He talks about her real estate or hitting real estate
investments and how they've got dirt on everyone and you
know what, Hey, it's either uh as a mob movie
from my childhood once said it was kind of a
street mob movie. You either get down or you lay down,
And that is basically what was said in this instance, like, Hey,
(33:14):
we got dirt on you, so I will expose you,
I will off you. These are your situations that we have.
Choose your battle. Do you want to go against Fisk
and face this or do you want to get on
board and we can all make money and all live
the dream.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Yes, that's who it says blackmail exactly. So they we
go back to Karen and Matt and they start investigating
Foggy's old files, where the discover that dumb Benny's case
was about what it was about Fisk building his own
city state based in Red Hook as a freeport, as
David already went over earlier. And it turns out that
(33:55):
Foggy was going to argue that due to the unique
nature of the Red Hook Port, no crime was committed
in the state of New York or in the United
States of America, meaning that the courts would have no
jurisdiction or prosecut Kufera for grand larceny, and so Vanessa
knew at that moment, if that was revealed about what
Red Hook was, that's where the danger would have came in.
(34:17):
And that's why she wanted Foggy taken out along with
dumb Benny, because once the secret of Red Hook came out,
then it's all over for her.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Yeah, it was for her. It was less about dumb
Binio was more about that is where she stored all
of her stolen art, that is where they didn't have
to deal with customs without taxation and everything else. This
would blow a lid on her operation and tighten things
down to a degree that would severely disrupt their business.
(34:48):
So even though for Boggy this was just a minor
case and hey, I found this loophole that no one
knew about, this could possibly just destroy Vanessa's business.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
So meanwhile, Frank here is that the task Force is
going to go after the after the duel of Daredevil
and Karen Page.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
And takes off to fight them, and he.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Goes into Red Hook and kills another bunch of bunch
of corrupt cops, but before he's overwhelmed and then taken
into their custody now Kingpin after he's listening to a
voice recording of Gala's conversation with Sheila, we learned that
Sheila has betrayed Gallo like she recorded. At that point,
(35:35):
he's furious and she realizes that she's trying to survive.
This is interesting from someone who basically, when we all
remember fis having to sit listen to the children say
we built this city on rock and roll. When you
know Daniel screwed up. She made the samement to him saying,
I've done this longer than you. I'm still going to
be here when you get kicked out, when Fist get
(35:58):
kicks that, I'm still gonna be here.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
I know.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
Right now, she's basically realizing the rules have changed, and
she asked in order for her not to just still
be in the game, just to survive and not be
killed off, she has to she made the big betrayal.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Yeah, she chose herself and chose basically a path to
stay alive because she knew that there was no way
at this point she could fight Fists, and so she
betrays Commissioner Gallow. She turns over this recording she made,
but you can see she is heartbroken about the decision
that she's made. S Fisk is listening to it. She
(36:39):
has shown out in the hall just breaking down. So
it was a hard move for her, but in her move,
she decided just to save herself. And you know, while
I understand the self preservation, I also know that you
know exactly what's about to happen to Gallo as a
result of what you just did.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
And so we cut to the limo and we see
Gallo get captured by a member of this task force
that he recognized from his rookie days and he noticing
it looks like some new ink and he said, yep,
part of the task force.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
And you know, at.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
That point, Gallo knows it's it's not gonna be good
for him. So Gallows says what everyone's been thinking all
season long, Yeah, I was right. You never stopped being
King Gin. You can't and gets punched in the throat
and brought to his knees, and Kingdin then delivers his
finishing boat, literally crushing gallows skull with his bare hands,
like literally rips off his jaw and like like basically
(37:41):
thinks off just gallop like it is em nomatic of
what he did with the with the door with the
door back, and I was season one I think that's.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
What it was.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Yep, season one, episode four.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Yeah, so definitely brutal.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
I was expected they were gonna see I just bore
like expected, like an I like you know how you know,
walking dead light at that point.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
But man, that was vicious.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
I know some people had criticized like the CG work
at that point, but still gruesome as all as all
get out, proving again that he's he does this in
front of all his task force people. That's it reminds
me of you know, we like talking occasion about the
distinguished competition on this show. It's exactly like what Falcone
(38:23):
says when it's when he's talking to Bruce Wayne about
you know I can walk down you know, shoot you
dead here and no one's gonna say a thing at
that point in this bar. That's power you can't buy.
Like literally, he does this in front of all his
loyally attendants to saying I dare you. I just did
this in pretty I dare you to turn me into
(38:44):
anyone because that's that's that's fear, that's power, you know,
reminding me again and I'll say right here the show
knows exactly what it's doing. And I love all the
memes saying it's saying fringing out from saying, wait a minute, this.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Is all about us, you know, about us, and.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
It's never been hiding the fact that their life imitating art.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Yeah, like it, like it or hated. We're not We're
not going to get into too much of that.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
But this is calling out what people are saying about
the world around us today, you know.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
Yeah, And even if it's not topical to right here,
right now. While yes, it is crazy amazing how something
that was written so long ago is mirroring this, you
also have to think of where our political landscape has
been for the last ten years. They've had a lot
to draw on into parallel and that is still going on.
(39:44):
I like the line where Gallo is saying that, you know,
I'm still a goddamn commissioner, and Buck says, well, he
is the mayor of New York, and New York has
made its choice and we're just honoring it. As he
he's marching Gallo to his death, like this is what
this is the person that the people want, and you know,
(40:07):
for whatever it is what he wants, we're going to do.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
You know again?
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Our reference to Dark Knight returns, bangling, I'm the commissioner.
Still you're going to go up to Do you feel
in charge? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (40:21):
You know?
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Do you feel like you're actually in charge? And so
back to Castle he's tied up. He awakens to see
Uh face to face with what he will consider to
be the scum of the earth, you know, Officer Powell.
I was hoping he was going to meet his end,
but we'll just have to wait for another season to
meet hopefully him meet his definite end. Who tries to
(40:44):
get Castle to join them while expressing their immense admiration
for the Punisher and what he's done, and Pal tells
Frankie would be an honor for the task for to
serve with the Punisher, Who told the fanboys? Who told
the fan boys? And frank responds, this is the em
nomatic of the one scene in The Punisher where we
(41:05):
always referenced to in the comics where he sees the
cops having they say we're like you, We've got the symbol,
tears it up, saying no, sorry, you want someone to
look up to Steve Rodgers, Well, this is the m
nomatic of that scene. Says, you admire me, You're out
of your freaking minds. You know that you're a bunch
of clowns. You know that your freaking clowns admire me.
(41:27):
You think you know my pain, you think you know
my loss? What do you know about me? How I
see the world? You know how I see the world.
It's just a circus, a bunch of clowns. Ain't. I
ain't gonna serve with you. I won't freaking pee on
you if you were on fire. You got that, I mean?
Speaker 2 (41:48):
And so.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
They say all right, fine, and they just basically h
one gets a hit on Frank because they feel that
they're spitting on him. Like that's the thing people don't
understand about the Punisher. None of us, David and Iron
are justifying like what the Punisher does. He is not,
This is not someone that is meant to be looked
up to. But even then he's got a code that
(42:10):
he holds out at that point. So, yeah, I see
Joe's in the chat comic book Rundown.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
That's Joe. The crazy thing is this thing was filmed, was.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Written film last year before everything, Yep, exactly.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
Yeah, they had a lot to pull from over the
last couple of years. And so with that being said,
they definitely the writers nailed that part of it.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
So cut to the wounded Matt and Karen arriving at
Red Hook, and they quickly realize.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
They aren't numbered, like, I don't know what Karen's gonna do, but.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
But Matt wants to take action, but Karen talks some
censon one, telling that he has to survive and live
to fight another day.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
They leave to regroup and find a new course of acts.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
As the power comes back on, Fiz talks to his
former couple therapist Heather and explains that he wants her
to be the new Commissioner of mental Health for the
city and made up position sound familiar, You're not too
far off at that point, and Fiz triumphant addresses New
York and announces the Safer Streets Initiative. No vigilantes or
(43:25):
curefie at eight pm, and New York City is under
martial law. Never forget, Wilson says in closing, I love
New York. I don't doubt that he doesn't love New York.
He just loves when he is running. At that point,
well that's true, Joe, Yes, Karen has a gun at
that point. I'm not saying she's a completely the thinking.
I'm just saying, like you know, there's a little bit
(43:45):
of a suspending belief that they then can take them
all on at that point. I mean album one of
my favorite movies of all time is butschcasting a Sundance Kid.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
I don't want to see either of them go down
like that.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Yeah, I don't want to see Karen charging in there. Yes,
she has taken some people out in this show, she
has or somewhat held her own, But I don't want
to see her charging train police. This isn't like when
she went up against real Wesley and he lied and
said that the gun wasn't loaded, and she took him out.
(44:18):
This is against a bunch of trained officers who will
take you out in a second, all while Matt's got
to take try and work on taking them down while
keeping you alive. This is just not the course of
action he wants to take.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
I just thought when he says Karen with the gun
and said Karen's got a gun. So back with our
defeated heroes. At Josie's Bar, an unmasked Matt tells Karen
that he lost himself to the darkness by losing Foggy
and trying to kill Bullseye. She says, Foggy believed in you,
(44:51):
whatever you want to call yourself, whatever is behind that mask,
behind your eyes, that's wrath, that's mercy, that's the dark
and light. He knew all of it, all of it.
He knew you and I do too. And so we
get back in Red Hook. Kingpin was filled, as you know,
and that's when they queue up a perfect song for
(45:14):
this absolutely perfect song from Radiohead, everything in its right place.
You know, this is the culmination the heroes have lost.
They have lost, and they have lost big. At this point,
you know, Fisk is walking around in Red Hook seeing
a number of you know, he's walking around as the
(45:37):
song's playing, filling the cages with everyone that is a
threat to him, including the Swordsman. You see the punishers
in one of the cages. I couldn't make out some
of the other people in the cage, necessarily Vanessa Wilson
sit down as a victory dinner, and you know, the
(45:57):
we start seeing who else is in Josie's bar. Know,
we see Cherries there, Detective Angie Kim, We see two
other female cops at that point.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Very interesting.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
You know, we've got Karen, we've got Josie, two females,
We've got two female police officers. We've got Cherry, who's
African American, Detective Angie kim Asian at that point. Who
makes up the task force for FISK. You know, you
know there are some there's like I think I've only counted, like,
(46:30):
you know, maybe one woman, one or two African Americans,
very much.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
White males. You know. Yeah, they're calling this out for
a reason.
Speaker 3 (46:41):
And with coal North gone, you're I think so Cole's
gone now, and then you've got the new recruit that
was Gallows, who was brought in by Gallows, who's basically
replaced this Coal North as your token minority. It's still, hey, hey,
we're not racist. We got a black guy versus the
(47:03):
entire group that is split up. There is another guy.
He can't be seen very well. He's sitting behind Cherry
in this scene, and I can't tell if it's the
shadow or not, but he does look African American. And
there is another male behind the two female cops to
Daredevil's left. The audience is right, so it is a
(47:25):
good mix of people like he is taking this fight
to him with a true makeup of New York.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
Yeah, did we see Dared have a voiceover as it
cuts to you, he says, I can't see my city, but
I can feel it. And we see shots of Buck, Sheila,
Daniel Blake, bb Urick, Angel Del Toro, Heather Poindexter is
still on the loose, Karen and a cage Frank and
(47:56):
that continues saying the system isn't working, it's rotten, corrupt,
but this is our city, not his, and we can
take it back together. The week the strong, all of
us resist, rebel, rebuild because we're the city without fear
(48:22):
and that and we see at the exposition, you know,
you know Matt full On Daredevil in Josie's bar, they
kind of peering in in at that point, and.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
You know, we got the call.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
You know, people I'd heard a lot of times saying, man,
this would have been the moment to.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
Maybe, you know, Luke Cage there, Jessica.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
Jones in the group and is no one And I'm
glad the director saw it. Like when the directors had
spoken out about this in the last day or two,
I thought that, I thought that, but I was like, no,
we this is this is an episode like this is
a way that as I said, the heroes lost here
is lost huge. We can't give it too much hope
(49:05):
at this point, you know, to to have any one
of those people there just shows that.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Oh they're gonna they're gonna do well, They're gonna do well.
You know.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
I'm not saying that Matt was the only one with
some sort of powers, but everyone else is just normal
and they could easily be taken out.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (49:22):
I don't didn't want them to have that kind of hope.
I wanted to see exactly yet we're gonna stand up
where the resistance at this point, But having any of
those characters ra and the directors echoed this.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
That would kind of lose.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
That would make the hope be a little bit higher
for this when we don't want to want it to
be at that point.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
That would just not tat up. Now are we getting
to that point?
Speaker 1 (49:44):
That's what the next season is gonna be about, the
fight to take down Fisk, But right now that's not
what it's led to. It has led to the rise
and the and the and the coronation of Wilson. Fisk
is ultimate plan for what he's been able to do.
What did you think of that? Were do you think
that directors and myself an idea of wrong? Did you
(50:05):
want to see one of those Defenders or a couple
of those Defenders there?
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Yeah, as much as I would have liked to see
the Defenders, and as much as it reminds me of
a certain scene from the Charlestol run about two arcs
ago that we were able to read, I as much
as I would like that, I am glad that they
left it off. The defeat at the end, this moment
(50:31):
of the city and everyone having to galvanize together Matt
given the speech in the bar, we see Hector's niece
out on the street, all these moments of people gathering
back together. That truly gives it the feeling that New
York is about to take the fight to Fiss. Not
(50:51):
just Daredevil, but New York as a whole is about
to take the fight to Fiss. So that means say, like,
I'm glad that they went this direction. Do I want
them to bring the Defenders in next season? Absolutely, But
for this scene, the way they did it, I think
it leaves off very good for where we're going next.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
Yeah, I think I think there's a good possibility. JoJo's asking,
do we do we get the return of the Defenders
next season?
Speaker 2 (51:22):
Yeah, I think that's what everyone's kind of hoping for.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
I think this is you know, it leads it to
to herself to have at least at least somewhat one
one of them coming back, you know, yeah at some point.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
Uh so.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
We we get it. We get we get a mid
credit scene. And the mid credit scene picks up in
the basement full of the cages with Frank Castle putting
on his most charming voice. Ur guards say, hey, how's
it going. You know what do they call you? And
the guard says Anthony Purcio. I said, yeah, yeah, that's good.
It's good from New Jersey at that point. Yeah, good
(52:03):
strong name. Yeah, let me just shake your hand for
having this conversation with me. It's like, oh, man, have fun, Bud,
and he just takes and grabs his arm, breaks it,
and you know, we assume he's escaping. So I believe
you put this out there as one of your factor
fictions that this would lead into the Punisher special that's
(52:23):
going to come out in h in the in between
era between this season and uh this season two, or
we're going to call it season five.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
So, I mean, it was good. I'm glad we had.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
We haven't had a post credits in a while for
a Marvel show. You know, I'm trying to think of
the last one we have because we didn't have one
after you know, the Agatha, I know that for sure.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
Yeah, I can't remember the last time that we've had
one other and this was the perfect ending. But God,
what type of idiot is this guard? You know exactly
who you're dealing with, this, this is the freaking punisher,
and you extend your hand to him, Like, what were
you thinking?
Speaker 2 (53:07):
The hero man? He's got to meet his hero.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
You deserve to get your arm broken at this point.
You deserve to be the one that everyone knows, Hey,
this is the guy who effed up, and this is
why Frank cut out.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
Yeah, exactly so, But you know, a season as a whole,
I mean, the episode of finale was was very good.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Season.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
Also, I've said it, I've said it for a while,
it's a frankensign season. It's a season that unfortunately, you know,
we've based on comments that were made originally, like we
felt we were getting entirely reformed show based on that.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
When we didn't, we got you know.
Speaker 1 (53:43):
Aspects and lines of hope, and we could see where
things were made and things were changed. But if the
last couple of episodes are hints to what we're gonna get,
we're gonna get, hopefully a more consistently executed season, and
I will probably put this out of ten. I'll call
this a seven point five. A seven point five season,
(54:06):
and it did what it needed to do. I don't
think it gave anyone saying, oh man, they really screwed
this up. I think there are some things to criticize
it for, and there's some things to celebrate and look
forward to. So but I will put it at seven
point five.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
I will.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
Agree with that for sure. That's around where I had it.
I had it, I'd gone back and forth between a
seven and a seven point five. I think that coming
back from this long hiatus from the original Daredevil show,
you had a high bar to match, not just with
the way that the previous Daredevil was written, but just
(54:46):
also the way that people regarded that show. You had
a high bar. And then you come in with the rewrites,
the reshoots, the retoning of the show. I think that
they did a very good job with what they ad
and they made something that makes me continue to want
to invest in this character. And right now I am
happy with a seven point five that makes me want
(55:08):
to continue to invest with this character.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (55:12):
So we will We know from comments that were made
recent the last twenty four hours that they are looking
to you know, returned for the next the follow up
to this show in March of twenty twenty six, so
just a year away, and we already know they're in
the middle of filming season two right now.
Speaker 3 (55:33):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
So but all right, well, you know a great you
know this is this, This has been fun looking into.
You can't wait for what we're going to see coming
from this.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
You know.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
Again, we've seen the some of the set photos already,
not because we actively see it out, but you know,
it's it's just fun seeing some good dare double content
back out there.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
So but all right, well.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
We're going to take our next ad break before we
look at the next The only big story that came
out there with the fantastic four First Steps trailer number two.
So listener's these ads keep the lights on the Geegultimate
Alliance Network. We don't get to choose what ads come on,
and they could be a bit loud, So get that
three account before they come on.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
Three two one. We'll be right back and we are back,
all right, So let me queue up.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
The trailer for Fantastic four First Steps. So this is
kind of our you know, and probably are our story
trailer at that point.
Speaker 2 (56:29):
So for those of you on audio, you know, we.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Can't play the sound, but we're gonna stop at different
parts and kind of break this down.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
So, so what do you think it like over overall?
Speaker 1 (56:40):
Like, you know, seeing this, did the trailer kind of
give you those good vibes what we've been anticipating for
this overall?
Speaker 3 (56:49):
Yeah, it gave a good feel of the tone. And
there were some some jokes in some moments in here
that's not the normal mar were spoileristic, but it just
it made me small and it made me feel like, Okay,
this aesthetic that they're going for, they're going to make
this work. I can see exactly what they're doing here
(57:11):
and I'm happy with it.
Speaker 2 (57:13):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (57:14):
All right, so let's queue this up. So it looks
like we're on a television show, you know, so as well,
folks who know the story so they call it the
Ted Gilbert Show. This is very much trying to model
us after the Ed Sullivan Show from way back when.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
So you know, he kind of.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Goes over, you know, the history of how the Fantastic
Wour came to be, like kind of this grainy kind
of footage, and I like it that we already know
what they're gonna he from what we're understanding, They're not
gonna spend too much time explaining the origin. It'll be
more like flashbacks or kind of film footage like this,
like we're not going to relive every single moment until
(57:50):
until that. You know, we're not going to get the
hero origin story for the majority of the film. You know,
they've already been established, so it's a little we're looking
at exactly what happened after so we get be you know,
Ben Grimm in the trench coat, you know, ball cap,
well not even a trench just a just a suit
(58:10):
sports jacket with a baseball caps. A lift the car,
lift the car, and this is something that we don't
see too often, especially you know, again we don't know
how many years after the accident that gave him all
their powers at this point, but we see more in
this trailer that Ben Grimm, the thing is a lot
(58:32):
more jovial. He's not the what was me?
Speaker 2 (58:34):
Then?
Speaker 1 (58:35):
You know this, this this monster that just can't find say, like,
he's pretty happy.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
You know, he's adapted to his life. He's not on
the why did I have to be the monster of
the group's He's enjoying it. He's enjoying showing out for
the kids. And it's obvious that the people in this
neighborhood love him and adore him and want him around. Yep.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
And you see the the TV announcer, Our city, our
planet o a debt to gratitude the intrepid souls. So
they've obviously, you know, whatever the Fantastic Four have been
able to do for the city, for the world, they've
been benefiting from their great minds. We can never repay them,
(59:19):
but we can certainly celebrate them. So everyone's saying thank you,
fantastic for thank you, And so we get our first,
like the crowd gets our first, like full look, even
though it's fairy, someone to the shot like everyone in
costume at that point. And remember, like for those that
don't know, early on in the Fantastic Fours career, Ben
Grimm did have the full kind of suit at that point.
(59:41):
It was only later on after a few issues had
he just kept in the trunks.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Yeah, And I like the fact that everyone's suit is
the same but different, So it's got that aesthetic. But
everyone has their subtle differences to their suits.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
And I love it that mister Fantastic is the only
one that doesn't have any sort of white attached in
the neckliner arm area. So you know, we get another
look at you know, we saw last time Herbie cooking.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
And I'll tell you what I think. The CG is
looking pretty solid on the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
It's it's looking good. The sound quality is also looking good.
When he does the clap, you hear the rock sound
against each other. It sounds like rock shifting, like if
you're going on a hike or something and you hear
the rock shifting underneath your feet. So I think that
they they have put in the work for this character
to make sure it is not laughable.
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Yep. So we saw this clip kind of.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Come out for a second trailer that they gave.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Yeah, exact, That's why I was saying, Okay, the trailer's
coming soon that the Johnny's sitting down and sees Read
and Sue come in. He says, you're late, and she
like reacts like late, what do you mean? And that's
where it's like, Okay, we know what they're referring to.
We know, we know it came out she's pregnant. He's like,
you're late for dinner, and because it's referring back to
(01:01:10):
they always are there on time seven every night, yes
we are, and Ben goes, you're late.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
I just said that, saying, yeah, you're pregnant, what do
you mean.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Johnny's getting all excited that they're gonna be the best
bomb in the world, and jac gives read crap saying
like they're gonna be the best right now, you're over
your head, you're out of your death.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
And that's again, that's calling out reed Rida's net is never.
Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
Going to be father of the He's never been portrayed
as the father of here, quite the opposite.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
He has no understanding about what it means to.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
Care for kids, and it's not necessarily something that he is.
You know, really, that's not to read Richards that we're
ever familiar. So maybe Pedro Pascal being the dad figure
that everyone loves in so many ways, but that's just
not what he is. And so Johnny calling him out
like that, he's not wrong, you know, yeah, but they
(01:02:04):
are going to be the best uncles. So Sue saying
that we can do this. Nothing is going to change
famous last words, Yep, exactly, nothing's ever going to change.
So this July, so we start getting into the very
first kind of arc that was ever in a fantastic
because again back in the day with comics it was
(01:02:24):
like one off. Everything was a one issue arc. So
this was when for the fiftieth Stanley and Jack Kirby
wanted to put together a kind of three part story
arc in celebration for the fiftieth and this is where
they introduced Silver Surfer and Galactus. So this is very
much taking from the images and even going back to
(01:02:45):
the thing just to call it out too.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
The thing is Jack Kirby.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
Jack Herby modeled it after himself, not just not just
how he looks, how he acts as walk the trench,
goat the cigar, smoking the joe, and he's Jewish and
this is the first portrayal of it from an actor
who is of the Jewish faith.
Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
So so we see the sky.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Is going and then we get our first look at
the silver surfer, you know, not necessarily the male, and
everyone losing their mind saying, oh my god, how has
it not Noron Rad? Well, it's it's shall A Ball
who is connected to Noran Rad?
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
Who? Who do you know, David, who Shalla Ball is
connected to Nora Rad?
Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
Advised me, it's been so long since I've been deep
in Silver Serfer that is.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
The wife of Norm Rad.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
So we don't know like in the series Earth X,
she is a silver surfer at that point in different storylines,
and so people are losing minds saying, well, there's there's
comic president at that point, but nothing says silver Surfer
has to be Norm Rad. I mean there could have
been Silver Ziverer, could have been Norm Rad. At one
point someone fell. Well, now here we are. It's it's
(01:04:05):
you know, I hate trailers like this because everyone's gonna
pick it up part saying oh my god, looks awfless.
I need a little bit more. I can't totally say
that this is bad or good. It's just it's our
first look at her. Yeah, so you get we don't
have a flame on, but it's chasing her and Johnny
forgets saying, wait a minute, yeah, I'm out of my
ailment as well. But but this is but here's the part,
(01:04:30):
like Reid goes to suit thing, it's my fault. I
stretch the bounds of space and they heard big hint
of what's going on here.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
So whatever has happened.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
Either they're either reads referencing the the.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Flight that eventually gave them their powers. Did you do
something recently.
Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
I'm gonna put out there that you know, this could
be Galactus necessarily may not be the destroyer of worlds,
maybe the on ending universes like you know, he may
not be from this universe. He may be something that
has crossed over as a result of read experiments or
(01:05:11):
things gone wrong, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
So you receive power shutting down there, you know, the
press asking are we safe and read going I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
Yeah, that is the most honest moment from a superhero
that we get.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
And he's in front of his chalkboard crossing out different things.
We see the wormholes again. He's saying, there's not enough
time now this.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
You know they look that lined that line.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
There's not enough time. Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
So they're going to it looks like a world that
has fallen, you know, maybe fall in the galact as
a probe, you know, I don't know, definitely not Earth,
and she was like, I'm not giving up. We get
another shadow of Galactus. It's a fantastic car. Another look
(01:06:12):
at Silversurfer. We're gonna as a family hashtag family. It's
not a bad look at silver Surfer again, you know,
going through picking up thing, is the local gonna get
(01:06:34):
stepped on? We know she's gonna get saved. Probably fantastic
That was.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
Waiting on the scene from the Superman trailer where someone
just swoops in behind her.
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Yep, come on, he could have said flame on right there.
We could have heard it clobber in time. Okay, our
first look finally Reid Retchords displaying a little bit of
a stretch action.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
We get a little bit of it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Not bad.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
I you know, need to see some more. But that
wasn't a bad first look. But they also didn't give
us close up, so they're still obviously working on it,
you know. Yeah, because again that's not a close up
of Pedro Pascal's space.
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
We don't see too much of that. So again I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
Glad we finally, because I'd be more worried if they
still were hiding it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
They needed to show something.
Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
I think that they are definitely waiting for that final
moment so that you don't want to give away the
full stretch right now, So you give us a little teas.
You see a little bit of the practicality, but we
don't get the full aspect of it just yet.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
And read the ending it saying we will protect you
and get the music coming over. Fantastic four first steps
and we get the look our first we get a
foot of you know, going State Puff marshmallow Man through
New York City and Ghostbusters so.
Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
Fantastavision, that fantast division.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Who knew that was a thing.
Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
Then we got our look at our first poster. You know,
good job Marvel for not putting like a whole bunch
of faces everywhere all over, you know, like the twenty
different faces of everyone in the film.
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
This is this is what it is there, fan, welcome
to the family.
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
You know, no, no floating heads.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
Post that into the floating heads exactly, so not a
bad look. You know, it's a nice family.
Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
It worked. I'm happy with it. I'm like this. And
then they released the press release as well. That was
very on brand for this I like that they're keeping
a theme. It's a good trailer. I'm very happy with
it doesn't spoil too much. Makes us also know that
Galactus is more than just a cloud. So we give
(01:08:57):
at least some feet so we know that that ex
we've seen a shadow, we've seen reflections of an eyes,
and we've seen feet, so so we know that this.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Is real, yes, exactly. All right.
Speaker 1 (01:09:12):
Uh so with that, that is kind of our news
for the week. So let like Julia is saying, Galactus
giving God'szilla vibes, but a little more quicker. He's a
little quicker on his feet. Those there's some pretty pretty
quick movements. So all right, so let us take our
final ad break for the evening before we get into
listener feedback Factor, fictions and then combook Clubs says, you know, listeners,
(01:09:36):
these ads help keep the lights on the Gee Ultimate
Alliance Network. We don't get to choose what ads come on,
and they could be a bit loud. Give it that
three count before they come on, three two one, we'll
be right back and we are back, all right, So
what have we got for questions this week? And we're
gonna hold off. I'm gonna move Brandon's to factor. It's
(01:09:56):
gonna be Braden's to factor fiction. So what have we
got for this week for questions?
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Question from Anthony Dorsey. If you put together Daredevil's army
to fight Fisk, who would you include besides Spider Man?
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Who would we include?
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Well, I mean the easy, low hanging fruit are the
defenders that we have, you know, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones,
you know, even Iron Fist at that point, but you
know it's been a low hanging fruit. Who would I
include at that point?
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
You know it's been a member, It's.
Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
Not I mean we're talking about like, really are we
talking about MCU? We get we keep this mc or
like people who we would hope would be on it?
What do you.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
I'm gonna say, let's let's keep this. MCU introduced characters
introduced or named characters. I will say named because there's
been people who have popped up on computer screens or
who have been mentioned offhand that we haven't seen yet.
So MCU introduced or named characters yep.
Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
I would say, you know, may maybe Hawkeye, yep. Bring
in bringing a little bit of Kate Bishop at that point,
she's definitely you know, she's got a personal vested with
you know, Swordsman, ah, so that that would be one
even uh you know, Moonnight would be one to possibly
(01:11:23):
come in.
Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
Yeah, I definitely think that Kate Bishop's Hawk Guy. I
put it in our chat as well that I could
see the bond that she has with the Swordsman and
that is what brings her in there. Plus if she
this could also introduce her link to Kamala Khan and
we start building towards that as well. That Dared Devil
(01:11:46):
can be the introduction now that she's met Kamala's father,
and once she starts talking, once he sees a teenage superhero,
he can say, hey, I heard about this other one
and that leads off into there. I would definitely take
on Moonnight the Defenders, as we've just mentioned, bring back
Misty Night, bring back Calling Wing Echo, basically everyone who
(01:12:10):
was in that panel from the Charles Slow Run, you know,
other than Spider Man, who we can't mention, but everyone
from there has already been mentioned and is all usable.
So I would definitely go with them. But Kate Bishops
Hawk Guy is high up on my list. I think
that she would fit perfectly in this universe.
Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
Yep, yep, yeah, So thank you Anthony Dorsey for putting
that out there. So let me pull up Factor Fiction
from last week. All right, so number one, task Master
will not be the member of Thunderbolts to not make
it out of the movie Seventy three percent in fact set,
twenty seven percent in fiction. So they're thinking task Masters
survive as well. You know, we'll see two weeks a.
(01:12:55):
Number two Vanessa will be arrested by the end of
Daredilborn again. Well that's this season fifty four percent said fact,
forty six percent at fiction, So not right now. Number three,
there will be another set of Avengers Doomsday castnmes release
before the end of SDCC this year ninety three percents
at fact, seven percent at fiction, and then from Anthony
(01:13:19):
Doris's Factor Fiction Avengers Doomsday. While some of the X
Men will have comic actor costumes, the other will feature
the return of the Black Leather to solidify the group
as the two thousands movie Erat X Men, forty six
percent said fac fifty four percent said fiction. All right,
so this is my turn this week.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
If I can pull it up, come onod there we go.
All right, So.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Number one, we will see a cameo from another NCU
character in Daredevil Born Against season two.
Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
I'm gonna go fack on that. I am going to
go fact on that. I can't tell you who yet
other than maybe Kamalakon, but I would definitely say fact
on that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Yeah, I will be fact as well. Don't know who,
but definitely there's going to be one person on there,
all right. Fact to fiction. Number two, there will be
at least one appearance from a pre MCU Marvel actor
actress that will not be announced in the next round
of cast announcements for The Avengers Doomsday.
Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
So they're going to be holding at least one.
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
Actor actress from the PRIMR pre MCU days to appear
in Avengers Doomsday.
Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
I'm going to go fact on that. I think that
they're going to want that that pop, that surprise that
gets the people talking that did you see that they
brought such and such back?
Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Like that Gambit and Wellsley snipes. You know, yep, you
gonna make a name put that stuff out there.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
There's only ever been one yeah, all right, last one,
we will not see she Oak appear again in the
MCU if at all until after Avenger Secret Wars.
Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
So breaks my heart.
Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
To say this because I'm one of those that does
is a She Hulk show defender and celebrator at that.
But I love Tatiana Masslani never have hidden that on
this show. But if we do see her again, it
will not until be after the conclusion of this phase
after Secret Wars.
Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
Oh, I'm hoping that we will see her again sooner
than that, because you know, a girl has needs. But uh,
you know, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go fiction on that.
I end up going to go go fiction on that.
I think that we will see her in some way,
shape or form. We don't know exactly when Daredevil Season
(01:16:04):
two is gonna be released. I think that it will
come out before Doomsday. So that's what I'm a bank on.
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Yeah, I'm still I'm unfortunate enough to say it's it's
gonna be a fact. You know, I just don't see
it happening, you know, well, I love it even for
a cameo. Sure, you know it's definitely there, but you know,
right now, I just I don't see it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
So but and then our.
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
Last one from Braydon put in Moonnight will appear in
Daredevil board Against season two, and he will be one
of the members of the new Defenders team. So getting
more specific than what I had. So, so, what do
you think Moonnight is really going to appear in season two?
Speaker 3 (01:16:50):
I'm gonna hopefully say fact. I'm a hopefully safe fact
hopefully Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
I wanted the heart wants it, But I say there's
more of a chance for him being on the Midnight
Suns versus the Defenders right now.
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
So I think I think that one.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
Goes a little too kooky two uh, for for him
to be on Daredevil. I think the Midnight Suns he'd
fit a little more in at that point. But that's
my opinion, all right. So I will make sure that
those are posted as always Sunday afternoon. So let your
voices be heard. And uh, David, it's time to bring
(01:17:30):
another thing doing end tonight? What what timing?
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
You know? We we we did this.
Speaker 1 (01:17:34):
It does help when you we we didn't have to
have it for a couple of weeks and who knew
the time it was going to work out. But we
are bringing a conclusion to the Charles soul Run are
looking at it in coll book Club of Daredevil at
that point, So what did you you know, these next
eras of issues were kind of interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
You know, we got, uh, you know, the turn of
Mike Murdoch.
Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
That that got weird? So what did you think about
that arc with Mike Murdoch?
Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
So when it as it first starts off, I kind
of thought it was a little weird with the wholes, like,
are are we going clone thing? We just we came
out of this great thing with meryor Fisk and Matt
being Mayor for a short time and everything else, and
now we're going into this weird clone situation. Didn't quite
(01:18:29):
know where they were going with it, but it ended
up being a good run overall. That also deeply kind
of explored some parts of Matt that we weren't quite
sure about. Like he he mentions in there when he
originally played the fake Mike Murdoch, when that was just
you know, this alter ego he used to confuse people.
He would able to say things to Fogg into Karen
(01:18:52):
that he couldn't before it got to the point where
he was so invested in this character he thought about
proposing to Karen as Mike. I don't know how that
would have eventually worked out for him, but at some
point he would have had to come clean, so it
ended up being really interesting. So at this point we
(01:19:14):
see that he's decided to go ahead and take down
Mayor Fisk, and they're going to do this the quote
unquote legal way. So he has teamed up with his
friend from McGhee, who is the former member of the Inhumans,
(01:19:37):
who is a private investigator, and they're going to do
this on a whole different scope, and they recruit some
people to help them. And this whole time where this
is a different, toned down version of Matt We have
seen him going in kicking down doors, beating people up,
but now he's talking with someone named Reader who whatever
(01:20:01):
he reads comes to life, who's also blind. We've got
Cipher who is their computer code cracker, and they've got
them a little team in order to take down Mere
Fist the legal way. But he runs into some trouble
when he runs into this Mike Murdoch, who's living in
the flesh, comes to find out that he became living
(01:20:23):
in the flesh because Reader accidentally created him while falling
asleep reading and.
Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
Even and even though like he gives them a chance
to like erase him, and that doesn't take it, and
you know, they come to some understand even like, even
though Mike's trying to rat out and join Kingpin and
things like that, you know it, Mike doesn't stay away
for too long. He will pop back up during Chips
(01:20:51):
Darski's run of Daredevils. So, you know, I'm not gonna
say where, but it's quite interesting of how that all
ends up happening. You know, it was okay at that point,
and then we get like, well, the final arc of it,
you know, the death of Daredevil.
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
You know, yeah, the the death of Daredevil was a
little bit interesting. So we get the return of Elektra,
of course, because you can't have a pivotal Daredevil story
without the return of Elektra. And they are at the
point where they are ready to take down Kingpin, and
Matt decides that this way of going about it, by
(01:21:27):
sneaking around trying to investigate that that's not his style.
That's not what he wants to do. This is war
and he is going to take the war to fisk.
On the flip side of that, though, is Fiscus taking
the war to him. He pulls out all the stops.
You've got Electro coming after him, You've got Gladiator coming
(01:21:48):
after him, You've got Claw coming after him, Typhoid, Mary
coming out, Fiscus sending everyone in order to stop him.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
And you also have another assassin that Daredevil is not
familiar with who is also coming after him, keeps throwing
these bone daggers at him, trying to take him out.
So Matt is just battling adversity from every single point,
and then we reach a point where, you know, they
finally get to a point where all these side people
(01:22:20):
have been defeated. Everyone that Kingpin has sent after Matt
has been defeated, and they bring Kingpin to trial. As
we've seen earlier in this run, it is now legal
and it is well within their rights to have the
superheroes testify. Everyone testifies against Wilson Fists, and they use
they use his biggest weakness against him, and that is
(01:22:43):
his own vanity by constantly not referring to him as
mayor Fists, which totally pisses him off to the point
where he basically admits that he rigged this. He goes,
I don't care what I had to do to get it.
I'm mayrit you will address me as such, and they're like,
what do you mean? What did you have to do?
(01:23:04):
Like like krimrked it. And then Mayorge literally gets up
and walks out of court. And the very next thing
where we see him say, but I was elected. How
could they do this to me? He's like, yeah, you
were elected, but they undid it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
Well, the other thing is like it's revealed in the
same thing between his lawyer, I can't remember who was
the same thing that he bregged the election, but it
was later found out that he still would have won
and he didn't need to do it. But he goes,
he gets arrested, goes to jail, only to find a
come out This was all a dream. To find out
(01:23:39):
that Matt had gone to the hospital because he saved
someone's life as Matt Murdock and got hit by a car.
This was all all a dream. Unfortunately, nothing nothing ended
up coming true with it.
Speaker 3 (01:23:53):
Yep, it starts fading out. He goes his final night
with Electra. Wasn't there my grand win? Not true? This
assassin he's been facing was actually a shadow of himself. Yeah,
and him facing his own demons.
Speaker 5 (01:24:10):
None of it was real, very Star Wars like yeah,
and so we and then we have this moment of
him fading into the blackness.
Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
We see his pulse, but there's not a definitive answer
as this ends with the death of Daredevil, of if
he is truly dead, but for all intents and purposes,
it looks like he is coming to terms with this
is who I need to be from here on out,
and he is going to rise again.
Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
Yeap.
Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
So we bring it in at this point, and you know,
if you want to continue on, you know, we one
day we may look at it at this point when
Chips and Darski's run. But you know, so, what did
you think of the the overall run of Charles Soul
the overall.
Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Run, I think that this is one of my favorite,
probably top five Daredevil runs. As a whole. I loved
this version of Muse. I don't know who I saw
on TV, but I love this version.
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
Of MWS some on TV.
Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
I saw a guy in a bloody mask on TV.
I mean, his best moments was he tossed Teather around.
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
But he had good moments.
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
She ended up saving herself, so it all worked out
in the end. But so that the whole mayor fist storyline,
and again it's life imitating art or vice versa. There
there were just so many beats with this that were
just fun. The whole there is a hidden loophole thing,
(01:25:48):
just like within the show with the Red Hook District,
they had the hidden loophole with the Oh they never
changed this law from the eighteen hundreds. Technically Matt is
the Mayor.
Speaker 1 (01:25:59):
Yes, I think this run. It's kind of It's definitely
not in my top top ones. I think there are
certain aspects, certain arcs within it that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
Are really good.
Speaker 1 (01:26:10):
Like I think the Muse is handled way better. I mean,
obviously he created it. I think the Mews storylines were good,
the Mayor Fist great. The follow up after that, you know,
Mayor Murdoch, the Purple the Purple Man's story giving some
context to what happened, like why did the genie got
(01:26:32):
put it back in the bottle?
Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
But you know, the ending of it just it was okay.
Speaker 1 (01:26:38):
I I hate I don't like the trope of like, oh,
it was all a dream at that point.
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
I think.
Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
I think much higher and I've seen Charles so will
do a lot better in certain things.
Speaker 2 (01:26:49):
He's a very accomplished writer.
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
I just think that the way this ended didn't end
with really such a bang at all. I mean, it's
a great way to put everything back in the toy
box as it were, So I mean, he accomplished that,
but I would say this is more for me in comparison,
I say, it's more mid tier Daredevil stories at that point.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
I think just.
Speaker 1 (01:27:10):
Because there's there's a handful of arcs that are really
really strong and the rest of it's just meh, Like
it's it's which is okay, it's not it's not bad,
it's just it just didn't rise to some of the
other ones that I can put higher on.
Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
Like now, the part that I yeah, the part that
I can go without is definitely the blind Spot aspects
of it. Yeah, none of that hit for me. But
other than that, the rest of the stories I felt
were very good.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
So but uh but yeah, So this was a fun
way to you know, change up Compo Club, look at
an entire arc and worked out well that we had
to done the last episode of you know, we could
see exactly. It was fun getting to talk about things
that the series was based off of. So, but we
are going to take a break from Cobook Club for
at least a couple of weeks, you know, with Brent
(01:28:07):
and I did this in the past two with a
new movie coming out in a couple of weeks, and
and so to give David, David and I time to
figure out kind of what our theme for the next one,
because it's gonna be the listener vote of doing that.
So we'll talk about that in a couple of weeks
and see exactly what we want to do. Well, we're
gonna go back to normal formula for this next one
(01:28:27):
issue by issue. We'll probably revisit the idea of doing
another arc later on. But this was fun. I think
it gave it a new way to look at Copbook Club.
But we'll we'll give it probably a couple of cycles
before we latch on because there's a lot of great runs.
I mean, it'll you know, we've definitely got a lot
to choose from. So but we'll we'll see what happens.
(01:28:47):
But hopefully you all enjoyed let's look at an entire
run for a creator.
Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
Yeah, it was daunting, but fun. It was a good
way to en capsulate like an entire story that's going on.
But yes, it it did take a lot of.
Speaker 1 (01:29:07):
Homework, yep, so you know Marvel having homework, right, So yeah,
so we're you know, you know, bringing volume twenty two
fifty seven to the books just in case.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
You never know.
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Some times, especially with this Fantasy Port trailer dropping this week,
we're going to watch the news. If nothing really rises
to the occasion, David and I will probably take next
week off at that point, So just pay attention to
the social feeds. But you know, as we say, we're
not going to put it up, so just put out
an episode. So you know, there may be a risk
(01:29:41):
of us not putting out a Thunderbolts Predictions at.
Speaker 2 (01:29:43):
That point, but so be it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:45):
I'm not too worried about if we don't have a
predictions episode episode post credits like we usually do, but
just fy. So in that case, if we do not
have an episode next week, this is just a reminder
that we will be doing our Thunderbolts boiler review the
Friday of the first weekend at that point, same thing
up we've always done with new movies, so it won't
(01:30:07):
be a new episode on Thursday. There will be the
live episode on Friday, with the audio dropping the next day,
So just pay attention to Socials, we'll announce if we're
doing an episode or not. Just we Sometimes we can
read the tea leaves in the sense of is Marvel
going to drop something. This is probably the biggest thing
they are going to drop in anticipation of Thunderbolts. So
we'll probably start seeing next week some the cast, the
(01:30:29):
press stores and things like that, but we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
Just defin wy I just in case. So David tell
people they can follow you.
Speaker 3 (01:30:36):
You can follow me on all socials at the fansom
most active on Twitter, bud I am all over the place.
You can follow me here on the GEK First Network
on our wrestling show, The Gimmick. We are going to
soon be going bi weekly, but right now we are
in the midst of WrestleMania Week. This is legitimately my
only night off from wrestling that I've had in the
(01:30:59):
last five days, and I will have again for the
next four days. So this is legitimately my only night
off from wrestling, and I'm spending it with you the people.
So you can find me here on The Gimmick with
Travis Snell and s Bubbs talking all things wrestling if
that's what you're into.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
So will Cody keep the title? Will Cody keep the title?
Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
If you listen to our last episode, you will hear
my predictions for WrestleMania.
Speaker 1 (01:31:30):
I here's my prediction. And again this I pay attention
to your all shows. You keep me up to date,
and just seeing the various clips on YouTube and TikTok
and all that stuff. I predict that Sina is going
to take the title and we will get an arc
that eventually Cody will get back the title.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
That's my prediction.
Speaker 3 (01:31:55):
I think that that is a solid prediction. I think
that that is that there is a very good chance
that that can come true. My prediction was a little
bit different, a little bit different from that. I have
a full thought out story on my reasoning for my
(01:32:18):
prediction and where it's going. So again, tune into the gimmick.
We all give our predictions. I give my storyline and
my future reasonings behind it, and I'm hoping that it
is correct, because well, I kind of like to win,
and we do have some some running things going on
with our draft and our draft picks and everything falling
(01:32:39):
out from that.
Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
So yeah, I was I was pretty impressed by when
you pick certain people at that point, all of you, Oh,
you're picking that or okay, all.
Speaker 3 (01:32:48):
Right, yeah. Other than getting my one pick that I
was saving as my last final pick getting stolen by
Snail right before I picked them on that, I'm pretty
happy with most of my picks.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Yes, so, but all right, yeah, check out out.

Thank you all for joining us live in the chat.
Thank you all for listening.
Speaker 1 (01:34:18):
Stay safe out there, everyone, and a stand that man
would say excelsi or true believers. All right, David, Post
credits discussion, What you got tonight?
Speaker 3 (01:34:29):
Post stress discussion. Speaking of people coming back, we have
some Blade news. Yes, Blade, the movie that definitely does
possibly maybe exist hashack mag movie. In an interview with
Entertainment Weekly, Deroy Lindo, who was supposed to be in
(01:34:50):
the Blade movie, has confirmed that he is no longer
involved in Blade at all. He shared a bit about
the movie he believed he would be participating in and
lamented that his character that he never got to play.
He's quoted as saying, when Marvel came to me, they
seemed really interested in my input. Lindo said, and in
the various conversations I had with producers, the writer, director
(01:35:14):
at the time, it was all leading into being very inclusive.
It was really exciting conceptually, but it was also exciting
in terms of the character that was going to form.
And then for whatever reason, it just went off the rails.
Linda couldn't say much about the character he was fleshing
out for Blade, but he clearly wanted.
Speaker 2 (01:35:35):
To callin Nda.
Speaker 3 (01:35:39):
He said that there was a Marcus Garvey as component
to who this man was shaping up to be. I'm
not saying it would have been in all out Garvey
Garvey eight, not that, but in terms of how this
man's philosophy, his ethos, and what was driving him. He
was a character. He was a character who had very
similar to the movie Centers created a community, a black community.
(01:36:04):
He was a character who was the head of his community.
So with that being said, again, Joe Rolando is a
great actor. He is very known within the African American
community for his various works, very respected. So to hear
him say that he was supposed to be involved in
(01:36:24):
this movie and it quote unquote it just went off
the rails is very telling. So I guess my question is,
are we ever truly getting this movie? We have had
so many people who have stepped away, so many people
who were apart and not apart, and now hearing such
a respected actor say that this movie just went off
(01:36:47):
the rails. And from what he's describing of this character
to me, that would have fit the tone that I
was expecting from Blade. If you're going for a very
grounded version of this character, I'm guessing when he says
it went off the rails, they decided to take away
the groundedness of this and maybe they're going into the
full fantastical. I don't know, but it speaks one that
(01:37:10):
Doroy Lindo is saying that it just went off the rails.
What are your thoughts on this?
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
You know this is just.
Speaker 1 (01:37:17):
This continues showing that I've never I think this has
got to be one of the most unfortunate and saddest
stories coming out of the MCU of They just like
I can't think of another project that is just literally
I mean defined development hell and then some. And I'll
(01:37:39):
point it out every time I've said it on the
vodka stream, I've said it on all anytime we've.
Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
Talked about this.
Speaker 1 (01:37:44):
This was not a movie that the MCU and Kevin
Feige originally had any sort of slate. This came about
because you got Marsha lah Ali coming in saying I
want to do this, Yeah, get it, Yeah, this was perfect.
Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:37:59):
It just there and people say, like, how are they
having so much trouble? It's a vampire movie. How hard
can it be? Well, when you weren't putting it into
the original slate and you're trying to figure out, like
where can this fit in? When everything has to be
connected in some way, shape or form. When I've been
the one person also when I've been one of the
people saying it doesn't all have to be directly connected.
It can be in the universe and not have to
(01:38:20):
connect to something, you know. But going after writer after
writer and director of director sc script, I mean, this
is even I mean we hearing Miss Lindo saying that,
like what it was, the ideas of what it could
have been one. It's disappointing because I love him as
(01:38:41):
an actor, he'd be perfect the voice in bringing that
character in. Are we going to get this at this point?
I still I'm on the camp that we're going to
see Blade. It's just not going to be a Blade
solo project. First, it's going to be and a Midnight
Sun is going to be in some sort of team
of before we get in proper Blade movie. I don't
(01:39:01):
want it like that, but if it still gets me
mister aw Lee being Blade, I'll have to.
Speaker 2 (01:39:09):
I'll take it.
Speaker 1 (01:39:09):
But it's just it's so aggravatingly frustrating, Like you want
to talk about I want to hear the story about,
like why the truth behind it, which we probably won't
outside of like people who want to go like deep
reporting cover and we get another like you know, the
history of the Marvel universe, like things that you know
it's And that's why I joke but kind of don't
(01:39:30):
joke that hashtag this is a fake movie right now
and in the League of Armor Wars. But also I'll
still say that the Blade video game comes up before
we even see a Blade solo movie. I'm I've been
confident about that since I saw a Blade move the
Blade video game cinematic trailer. At that point, that video
game is going to come out and we're still not
(01:39:51):
going to have a Blade solo project. Just put my
I'll do a freak cup of coffee in the break room.
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
That's how confident I.
Speaker 3 (01:39:59):
Am at this point. I would not be surprised if
we got another one of those directors chairs for who's
going to be in the next Avengers movie, and it
said Wesley Snipes before it said Maherscha Ali, Like, at
(01:40:21):
this point, I have zero confidence that this movie is
coming out, and the whole there's only ever been one play,
there only ever will be is starting to ring more
and more true. Unfortunately, I love Doroy Lindo as actor.
I think he would have brought so much to any
franchise that he joins. His voice, his presence, everything about
(01:40:45):
him would have been amazing. And this is sad to
see for this movie, and it's sad to see for
so many more movies going through development. Hell and just
on a personal note, from what he described his character
would be. It's sad because honestly, Black Panther two, while
you know it was good, it did fall short. And
(01:41:09):
I know that like the African American community wants another
hero that they can lift on a pedestal, another hero
that they can point at their children and say this
was made for us. And so to have this constantly
go through these starts and stops and will they won't
they is a little disheartening. So Marvel, get it together.
(01:41:31):
Just make a standalone movie. You don't have to weave
every part of the MCU into this, and then you
know you can throw him in later. I'm sure you
can find something within the Secret Wars writing that you
can bring him in, But right now, just make a
stand alone Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:41:51):
So, but before we go, we got to answer missus Scroggs.
Speaker 1 (01:41:54):
He's been loyal. He is not Marvel related, but you
know he's got you. He's got he wants to know
to see him. Punk and Seth team up against Rains
this weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
This one I will give you for free. I'm not
going to give you my Cody answer, but I will
give you this one for free. I love seem Punk.
He's the best in the world and one of my streams.
This weekend I will be wearing a Seampunk shirt. But
I will say this, I think Seampunk is eating the Pin.
(01:42:28):
I'm not quite sure yet who is winning between Seth
and Roman. I'm thinking that Seth is going to take
it and then Roman is going to take some time off.
But Seampunk is definitely eating the Pin. They gave him
his WrestleMania main event that he's been asking for for
the last ten years. Here you go, but you don't
(01:42:49):
get the win as a result.
Speaker 1 (01:42:50):
There you go, so there you go. Got freebe there, Jim.
That's just because we love you so much. So all right, well,
we might.
Speaker 2 (01:42:57):
See you next week. If we don't, we.
Speaker 1 (01:42:59):
Will see you for our spoiler filled review of Thunderbolts Asterisk.
But we might see you. Why not, But you know
when we do, it's gonna be fantastic. All right, take
you all later, Bye bye bye.
Speaker 3 (01:43:16):
M
