humb little boat.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
So I have not been in my home.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
I have not even been in the country.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Last week he fled to Canada everyone and he still
came back.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
I went to Niagara Falls.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Well, first I went to Buffalo, and as I've said before,
I'm based out of Kansas City, so I'm a huge
She's fan, so going to Buffalo is coming in the
territory for me.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
But I went to Buffalo for a.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Bit and then when saw Niagara Falls, went over to Canada.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Just had a good.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Spring break away from life and civilization. But I'm back
and got some Daredevil and news on the menu.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
How about you.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
It's been a week, I'm still here. I'm ready for
the weekend. I hate to be that simple about it,
but that's cerem raight right now. I'm I'm here, I'm
happy to talk about Daredevil. I'm I'm very happy that
the week is over and just been just been long,
just been a long when I'm tired, kind of tired.
(01:57):
So but but yeah, we're gonna definitely get your thoughts
on the the two episodes that that you missed at
that point before we get into the the the episode proper. Yeah,
we've got episode seven to talk about, and we have
some news out of CinemaCon from wait for it, Sony
actually giving us news some things. It's just some things
(02:21):
are slightly exciting. Other things are just like, okay, at
least removing the needle a little bit on this one
and getting sent there's there's there's somewhat proof of life
on a project. So but let us do the lovely
network plugs. We are part of the geek Cultimate Alliance
Network with seven shows covering the wide range of geek
(02:41):
and nerdom. To see the whole schedule, check out the
show that's below and subscribe to the ge Cultimate Alliance

Saga rewatch. Brent and I covered the Infinity Saga, re
reviewed all the twenty four movies in that saga, and
then we did the Tales from the House of X
where we looked at our favorite movies from the Fox
era of X Men. DC Alliance has their DC films
(03:26):
through the years. Joe just dropped a new episode of
his Disney Dives on a Patreon where he's looking at
every animated project in chronological order, and it was Robin
Hood about halfway through it really interesting if I actually
do and do remember and enjoying that movie. So he
drops us the first and the fifteenth of every month.
We got a lot of back content out there, so

And last, but certainly not least, we want to thank
our official sponsor, Organic price Books dot Com for omnibus
(04:10):
hardcover collector Tosh needs JP and the crudopp have got
it going on with excellent customer service, immaculate packaging ships
around the world. As we showed off last week, we've
got some great new omnies there. We've got new Avengers
by Brian Michael bendis the second volume of his saga
that we've got Let's see whether Omni's. We've got some
epic collections from Fantastic Four. We've got a new printing
(04:31):
of original sin. We've got some new x Men omnies.
We've got x Men by Jerry Duggan, some pretty cool
covers with that he took over after the Hickman era.
We got she Hulk by Ranville Rowell an omnibus format,
an Old Republic in omnibus format, so lots of great stuff.
Use that co We've got two codes. I haven't updated
(04:53):
the live feed, but we've got two different codes for you.
You can use Marvel gua at checkout to get two
dollars off every single order, use it a limited amount
of times. Or you can use our newest code, m
g u A sent so it stands for Marvel g
u a sit so m as and Mary g u
a sit. If you have four or more books, you
(05:16):
get five percent off of your entire order at that point.
Usually it's supposed to be you ship everything together. No,
don't worry about it. It's gonna ship as they come in.
So five percent off that can that can do some
damage on an order at that point. That can save
a good pretty penny. So use either one of those
codes limited amount of times. Let's know you are a
listener and we want to thank them for being our
(05:38):
official sponsor. All right, close that out, take that down,
all right. So we do have some notes to give,
and you know, this is something that was not originally planned,
but we do want to give an update on when
it comes to Brent. Brent is is officially stepping down
(06:01):
from the show. I will be very transparent at this point.
Brent and I, this has nothing to do with any
kind of bad book or anything like. Brendan and I
are very good friends. David can vouch for that. This
has nothing to do with that. Brent has you know,
the full plan was for him to return in the
coming months, but and he has allowed me to say
(06:22):
this that he has some family stuff that he has
and needs to take priority right now and he does
need to focus on that. So he and I spoke
the last week and just right now, he's just going
to officially step down as the official, the official co
host of Marvel Alliance. He still will be back from
time to time as his schedule allows. We do miss him,
(06:45):
we do. I do want to say thank I want
to thank him for U be stepping in when Travis
needs to step down for his obvious family changes at
that point and job changes. So it was a great
honor to continue to work with him because, as I
told him and I've said on this show, he was
(07:05):
the first podcast as when he was on Fans with
ut Borders that I ever got to be on. So
that was and then having him case for me for
the last few years has been a great treat. Like
I said, he'll be back from time to time. He
may even pop in for one of the next Air Devils,
but he did not want to continue to kind of
(07:26):
give people the false impression that he could come back
at that point. But we want to thank Brent and
David is now going to be our official co host
at that point. And so you know, the cool thing
is David does get to see Brent every day.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yes, I talked to him about four hours ago. Like
you know, this is just the best decision that he
had to make right now. It was not an easy
decision to make, but as you know, they stay in
the Fast and Furious, it's all about family. So this
is one of those situations where hav to put family first,
(08:06):
has to take care of some things. And he is
still a fantas show. He's still a listener of the show.
Like we will talk on Friday and or tomorrow and
he will say, oh I'm at this part, or I
love the way that you guys talked about this, So yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Be able to look out.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
He will make appearances sporadically as it sees fit, and
you know, the tides may turn and then you could
see him weekly.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Again.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
We don't know what the future holds, but as for
right now, I'm here to rock and roll with you guys.
I'm honored to be given this opportunity, and I promise
to keep the devil Horns working until he returns.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
So but again, everything is fine with brand, be very clear,
nothing so bad. It's just he needs to you know,
he needs to focus on some family time, so we
support him on that as we always say. As you
said hashtag family at that point. But all right, yeah,
no detail, not a farewell show. You are stuck with
us for many, many, many many times ago, so we
(09:11):
got lots to do this today. So all right, David,
why did you take a few minutes before we break
into the new episode talk about what you felt about
the double the double header from last week? Two very
different episodes.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yes, two very different episodes. I kind of smiled at
episode five. I know it's gotten a lot of mixed
reviews out in the ether, but I actually enjoyed not
only that side of Matt.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Just kind of being the.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Showing off his smarts, showing him outside of the costume,
his charming things like that. I popped when he used
the I'm a really good lawyer line, so as the
should implies, that is always one of my favorite lines
of him. So when he used it in in Everything
with Kamala Khan's father and the nods to her and
bringing those universes together, just it made me really happy.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
I did laugh.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I saw I thought about this during the episode, and
I saw meme about it later about imagine being someone
just walking down the streets of New York and it's
the scene of Matt with the scarf wrap around his
head just dropped kicking the thug in the alley, Like
that's just that's every day in New York now, so
that that's what we're used to. But I enjoyed that little.
(10:34):
I enjoyed the whole bank heist feel and just met
being Matt and having that other side of him. As
far as episode six, I was excited to get more
time with mus I was excited to progress the story.
We have the whole evanetconce scene at the end with
(10:55):
the Daredevil's coming back and getting ready for all that.
So having that time for Daredevil to come back what
was really cool. I did think that Wilson was going
to take out Adam. I thought this was going to
be a whole I'm going to give you a weapon
and still destroy you type scene or I thought my
(11:16):
prediction was going to come true sooner than I thought,
and Vanessa was going to be presented with a gift.
But all in all that, they were two so I
thoroughly enjoyed them, and I've been enjoying this series as
a whole so far. I would not say that either
(11:37):
of those episodes are in my top three, but they
were good episodes.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Oh good, Well, yeah, you know. Also want to thank
Travis for you again stepping in for the uh for
David at that point. I want to make sure to
thank him, and also think my coost on the OPB
Buyers Guide for joining me at that point, Jake, so
(12:06):
make it. It was a great honor to have him
join us at that point. After he's saying, so what
am I going to get the invite? I said, you
can just ask you get done trying to put this idea?
Is that you're keeping me from the show? I said, no,
you just haven't asked. Yeah, so we want to thank
Jake and Travis at that point for joining me last week.
So uh but yeah, so all right, we got those
(12:27):
thoughts out there. Let us give some non spoiler thoughts
for episode seven Art, for Art's sake, what did you
feel about seventh episode? We're getting ready to land the plane?
Two episodes left. What do you think? Is this the peak?
Is this the mid Is this the worst of the show.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
This is not in the bottom half of where I
would put the show, but it is also not peak.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Right now, what just goes out saying for is pa
and I would probably put this as my third or
fourth favorite. There is something with this that does knock
it down a huge bar for me, and we'll talk
about that more when we get into spoilers. But I
thought that this episode was a good showing for all
(13:19):
of the characters. Everyone got a little bit of shine,
including I say this, both Matt and Daredevil got shine respectively.
You got to see some duality of both of them.
Heather got her moments as well. Fist got his moments.
(13:40):
We had a funny time between Daniel and Beebe, so
like everyone in here just at a moment, and even
Vanessa has her moment at the end of the episode.
So I thought it was a good shine and it
was a good way to set up not only the
final two episodes, but possibly some stuff with a spin
(14:02):
off and feature seasons.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Yeah, it's it, definitely again. I think what was interesting
about this this episode and the season as a whole,
is which I have enjoyed is the character, the character redevelopment,
reintroduction of Matt Daredevil Wilson fis kingpin in different realities
of their life. However, you and I had the same
(14:29):
kind of qualms about what had happened to a certain
character in this show, in that you know what what happens,
and so we'll kind of leave that as we're right now.
But you know, I kind of consider this episode a
setup episode for the last two episodes. We're setting the
board up, and it definitely I know some people said
(14:55):
the last episode was disjointed. I just think that this episode,
I think continues a little bit of the disjointingness. I
think this is just right now. This is mid level
for me for this episode, and from what we understand,
this is the last episode of the original kind of
(15:19):
plan for it. Like this, this is the episodes eight
and nine were completely redone. This is under the new auspices.
There is no old material. This is this was put
on record, you know in the last week that eight
nine were redone completely kind of like how episode one
(15:40):
of was a completely new episode at that point. So
lots of writing on these last two. And if this
leads us to a landing of the plane setting up
for a more consistent second season, I still think there's time.
I don't think this is ever going to be looked
at as the like the p of what Netflix was.
(16:01):
But again, as we said, I'm not necessarily trying to
be an apologist for what this is. It's just I've
said up before, this was never going to be exactly
what Daredevil Netflix was going was needed and I don't
need that. I need a good I need to understand,
like if I don't want the same stuff, but I
want enough there with some new ideas to bring in
to see if it like it again. If you don't
(16:22):
like it, that's fine, that's you flip the channel, go
back to what you wanted to watch. And uh, you know,
but for the most part, again, this was not this
was not the worst episode ever, not not not even closed.
I'm just disappointed about what happened with a character that
more could have been done and it shows.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
So yeah, but I will definitely say that that that
one knock is is a big blow.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
So but all right, so let us get into so
if you haven't watched, you know, come back join us.
At that point. We're going to take our first ad
break before we get into it. So listeners, these ads
help keep the light on the GEEG Ultimate Alliance Network.
We don't get to choose what ad to come on.
They could be a bit loud. Give it that three
count before they come on. Three two one. We'll be
right back and we are back. Okay. So seven episode
(17:15):
opens with Wilson Fisk talking to Daniel and Buck about
the city being gripped with fear. Daniel tells this that
the girl escaped from muse naming and named Angela del Toro.
Who did it? Turns out not I Ella. You know,
I was kind of confused on that one. In the comics,
(17:38):
Angela does take up the White Tiger Moniker, but I
could have sworn that her last name isn't a Ela,
it's del Toro. So that was that was that was
kind of surprising to me. This asked how she managed
to escape, and Buck explained that she claims she was
rescued by Darren Nevil angrily orders them out of the
room and just looks out the window. Now here's where
(18:01):
I have a little problem. Starting off. It's it's this
idea of, like, you know what, the fitties, the city's
gripped in fear. I'm sorry, I haven't felt that. And
that comes to the problem that we'll probably keep on
repeating in this show. I don't sense it. I think
the more times when they say it's scripted fear, it's
because people are telling me it's krypt in fear. I
(18:23):
haven't seen it. Really. Last episode was probably the biggest
scary stuff like we had with MWS. I don't see
it with anything else. I mean, am I missing something here?
Speaker 3 (18:32):
No, unless the news reported something, And if you're going
to say the city is script with fear, I would
have liked to have seen a news report in the background.
I would have liked to see one of the bab
reports about, you know, something really going on. I also
thought it was interesting how Fists being you know, the
know all and everything like that, You're getting brief the
(18:54):
next day by Daniel on Daredevil being back. And as
somebody who before I became an it person, I went
to nursing school. So the nitpicky part for me was
the fact that she lost twenty five hundred million leaders
(19:15):
blood average adult has fifty five hundred. You run the
risk of death at about forty percent, which is two
thousand million liters, So she lost more than enough to die,
like not just shock, and she's not even adult size.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
So comics that twenty five.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Hundred for a girl of her stature is a lot.
And I was just like, she lost how much she
should be deader? Are you sure you get your numbers
right there? But then I had to again, I had
to suspend, you know, reality, and remember like, okay, I'm
not taking any exams here, I'm not back in any classroom.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
So but that just kind of took me back. But
I was more shot.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
How does Fist not already know that the old Daredevil stuff,
because this seems like something he would have the finger
of the pulse of or someone would have called him
in the middle of the night to say Daredevil was there.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Well, I also think too, I did kind of get
a chuckle Like people say, oh, he looks angry. No,
part of him is kind of smiling, because it's part
it can fall into what he's trying to do. So
I think part of him he's angry, part of part
of them was set. Yeah, but like I said, I
just I think that's one of the problems. Well, you
did say, like you bring up the BB reports, the
BB reports happened telling us stuff. I just I just
(20:34):
that's what I have a problem with part of this show.
And again it's not a huge knock. It's just I
would rather see it than to be told the city's
kript and fear. I haven't really felt it, you know,
really at all. If there's any mus as Big Bad,
I don't think they did a good enough job showing
(20:55):
how scary he could be, you know, I think, you know,
I just think I haven't seen it. That's me. If
you have, please let me know. I just I've seen
enough of this season where it's just like, yeah, I
just don't get it.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
I get the grid of New Yorkers, but they are
way too calm for a murder in their city.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
So Angela wakes up in a hospital after having nightmares
from her attack by Muse. Matt shows at showers at
home before Heather joins him for some fun time, so yeah,
you never know. But after, you know, as he's getting dressed,
she knows the bruise on Matt's back and she questions,
(21:38):
like how he got it. He kind of shrugs it off,
and later Heather pushes him for more information and points
out how much of his life is shrouded in trauma,
which he needs to confront, and again he deflects. They
have very impassioned conversation that ends with both saying I
love you. You know, we know what happens to people when
they get close with Matt Murdoch, right, And.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
I did like the part of the scene when Heather
does say I love you. You can hear her heart beat
as she's saying it, so it's the nod of like,
I'm not just saying this, say this like I mean this.
Her heart is steel. He's listening to her heart. He
knows that she's telling the truth. Now when he says
it back, we don't know what's going on. With Matt,
(22:21):
but we know that in her heart of hearts, she
does feel love for him, but.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
He has another issue I have like and right now,
this is the way the season goes. I brought it
up before this is this is a season focused on
Wilson and Matt. Totally good with that. They're the main shows.
I'm okay with that. But one of the things that
made the Netflix theory is great were the side characters.
(22:47):
I don't have much. I really don't have much of
a care for Heather. I don't. She's been very much
the background she She just comes in to kind of
push the character long and I know she's not trying
to be a Karen replacement, but I just haven't cared
as much outside of Van. You know that it'll stink
(23:09):
if she dies, but it's not going to feel as
much as a Karen Foggy. And yes, I know we've
had three seasons with Karen and Foggy to really develop that,
but I'd be pressed to say that by the end
of season one. We didn't have a strong relationship with
Karen and Foggy by the end, but they just haven't.
Folks showcased Heather as much.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Yeah, and then her mention of Karen when you know,
Matt is talking about Foggy and she goes and Karen,
like that only drove home the fact that you're not Karen.
It's like, thank you for bringing that to my attention.
I know it was meant in a way of hey,
acknowledge your past, deal with your trauma, but to me
(23:49):
it only reminded me like I don't care about you
like I did these other characters.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, and again it's a choice with the way the
show did did what they did, but yeah, it's just
been something that especially as we get into where where
we meet Muse in his human form, as it were
like we saw him, we saw the character. You know. Well,
I'm gonna pause on that one before we get there,
(24:16):
so but I will say this. In the comics, Matt
is awful to Heather. You know what Matt did to Heather.
He ruined her career and wouldn't show to have any
other distractions in her so that she wouldn't have any
distractions in life, Like Matt perfectly sabotaged her career. No,
so she wouldn't have any distractions of her life and
(24:37):
have no choice but to marry him. However, she would
eventually uh, as people now say, unlive herself.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
So in that way, Matt's an awful person, but obviously
very different character. I was reading about that. I was like, geez,
that's terrible silver age. Uh there, and but not so
much in this one.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Now.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
In his office, Matt's you know, let's keep on tearing
down Matt at this point for hiding secrets. Matt is
immediately confronted by Cherry, who says, I'm not helping you,
and Kirsten tries to meet get Matt's attention. He's like, nope, sorry,
I gonna meet with Cherry first, and Cherry's just angry
with him for suiting up going after muse and Matt
asked him to do some more diggings so he can
(25:25):
go after him again, and Cherry's like, no, I'm not
doing this. You want to destroy your life. You're on
your own. And then Matt says, well, remember when I
used to help you out and did you know what
happened with that? And Cherry just leaves and.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
He said it with that smirk that just sent Cherry
over the top, Like don't you don't have a one
up on me right now? Like and that was the
impression that Matt was giving live Wait a minute, now,
you forget like he was trying to play the role
of you should do this because remember how you guys
need meemanized a vigilante, and that's Cherry all.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Yeah, and then Here'ston's upset because Matt's hiding things from her.
Cherries hiding things from her. You know, she just feels
like man and no one's telling me the truth. And
I know you all are hiding something. So then speak
this speak with Buck explaining what Daredevil did to his
old business. And I like his I like this revisionist history,
(26:26):
like any kind of good intact with villain.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Years of honest business. I know he had built from
the ground up.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
He goes out to explain that things are different now
that f has more resources, including the NYPD. Buck warns
him that these resources, you can use these resources to
settle and old scores could be considered an abuse of power,
so to be careful with that. This tells him that
he has responsibility to protect the city from anyone who
operates outside the law, conveniently placing that old score within
(26:58):
his responsibilities. So it's just like, oh, he tore down
everything I you know, I was. I was a captain
of industry, beloved by men, adored by women. You know,
I just expected that.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
I'm like, this is some serious revisionist history that that
you have here of not only how you viewed yourself
and your business, but how you felt others viewed you.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Like.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
No, you were, you were feared, you were the kingpin
of crime. You you were not a good person, but
you make it out like you were just Oh, I
was a lowly used car salesman who who worked my
way up to owning five dealerships, and here comes Daredevil,
just ruin it all for the hell of it.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, uh so. Uh So Matt does meet Angela in
the hospital, where she tells him that Daredevil saved him,
saved her. Uh yeah, in the murder basement. Uh we
called that. We called that the saw basement.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
He tries to get any information out of her about
her experience, but she falls back on her lack of
belief in the police, and probably she's gonna remember so
much because how much, blu did you lose a lot
as you went on earlier. Meanwhile, Detective Kim had a
team of officers investigate Musa's layer where Kim finds a
ripped piece of clothing. A Joe tells Matt that the
(28:18):
only other thing she remembers is that Music kept talking
about his sketches of faces. And this is where we
get Vanessa meeting with Luca and they discussed the need
for a king pain in the city again, and Luca
explains that none of the crime families are earning like
they were when she was in charge. He suggested a
time for someone to step up, and Vanessa as an
(28:39):
ass if he's asking her for help. So this is
where I'm like, I know what they're trying to do here.
I don't think she's falling for it. Yeah, Luca's getting played.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Yeah, it was very Vanessa has shown that over the
years since Fisk kids left and you know, we have
the everything that happened in Hawkeye and Echo. She she
has grown to be a formidable business woman. I mean
she even showed that within season three of the original
Daredevil series, and she's like, let me and she wants
(29:18):
to be a part of it. She's not stupid by
any means, and she's not going to get played by
someone like Luca for as smart as street smart as
he may think he is. He she will not be outwitted,
and this is sowing the seeds of at the end
of the day, I'm better than you and I know
it well.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
The other thing, too, is we'll get into this when
you know Luca does what he does. You have someone
basically saying I'm willing to go against uh, you know,
basically Wilson fiss like I'm willing to betray to find
a way to get back the way things are. What's
(30:00):
him from turning on her? That's my that's my evidence
right now that he is going to get he is
he gets played by her because he's a threat. He's
not loyal. He's loyal to what's getting him money in
his pocket. And the minute he feels cheated, she could
be next.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
You know, his want and need for a rise to
power is feeling like there needs to be a kingpin. Okay,
we've taken out Wilson. Now it's my time to rise yep.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
And if you're going to stand in my way, then
I'm going to take you out. So so Heather, now
let's go back to Heather. Remember her. Heather welcomes a
client in her office, the young man we saw it
or book signing in the first episode, we all basically said, Yep,
there's Mews right there, right there, there's Mews at that point,
(30:51):
And that's my problem. You know, thanks to the credits,
we know, and you've paid you and you've had close capturing.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
We know.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
Is Bastion not the cool Bastion from X Men ninety
seven in the comments. No, this Bastion right here talks
about the dream he's been having and you know having,
and then Vanessa's ship and then excuse me, and then
Heather shifts to the conversation to his parents, and this
(31:20):
is this proves my point of the problem, Like we
haven't seen Hyer hair of this kid, like no hints
about it outside of the first episode, had been creepy
at a book signing. We've never seen her until this
episode talk to him and start building up some type
of like rapport within us as the audience to kind
of see this thing kind of building to this crescendo
(31:42):
moment that we get in this episode, and we don't
see him going in and out of costume, so when
eventually he dons it in the office at that point,
it's just like for the general audience, who probably aren't
as attuned to us as others like, oh shoot, where'd
that come from? It wasn't great, It didn't have a
(32:04):
good build up.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
And I told someone this earlier. I was talking with
a different coworker about this is. If we had more
time and more episodes, I would have liked a bashi
and focused episode that maybe ended at the same time
that the girl getting rescued Angela getting rescued from the
(32:27):
murder basement happened. So we go back, We tell his
backshort everything that he just told.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
We get that.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
We get him competing in taekwondo and not wanting to
do it and wasn't allowed to quit. We get him
killing his instruction, We get whatever fully turned him to muse.
We get all that build up that leads to him
kidnapping Angela and the moment that Gary Devil stabs from
there like, have that episode go from his beginnings, his origin.
(32:57):
You get more of him, and then end at this
same time as that other episode end, and then we
can meet back where this episode starts. At least we
get more of the character because he is a fully
fleshed out character. He talks a lot in the comic
books he has Thusia's feelings. He has reasoning, and in
this we really don't get any other reasoning other than
(33:21):
her book Live Without Fear resonated with him.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah, I mean yeah, so the Dux's position during this
kind of discussion of his parents taekwon dos now we
know why he can fight so well. Kim meets Fisk
presenting Bastion as their lead suspect because, you know, just conveniently, conveniently,
like the expensive paper he's using is only what It's
(33:45):
just like, oh, okay, well, we need to move the star.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Canvas down to three people in the city, and two
of them may can't be, so it has to be.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
This guy, I know.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, so it's just convenient because the plot paying with
credit card for his murder canvas convenient. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
So on top of Bastian recently purchasing the canvas, he
also has a rap sheet that saw him commit multiple
committed multiple times. We also learned he was trained, as
(34:16):
we said, taekwondo master who wound up dead a few
months later. Must have been some great taekwondo for him
to be as good as he was. It was just
a few months lesson at that point, you know, fist
asked Kim about Daredevil, and she tells him that it's
very possible he's back. He thanks her for thanks her
and lets her know that he will be taking over
(34:37):
the case from here. The mayor is taking over the
case from here, which kind of says okay. So Heather
offers Bastion a tissue, but instead wipes the blood ont
of his finger and begins to draw with it. He
draws Muse in his own blood, and that's when Heather
asks about the drawing, and he tells her she already
(34:58):
knows what it is, and Heather starts to cry, you know,
because she's scared, and Baston appears concerned, rushing to her side,
and she asks ask again, and Baston says the drawing
is his true self and Heather makes or run for
the door, but Bastard slams her again at the wall.
Jan and there's another one saying like kind of like
the cop when Matt faced him down and thinking, how
(35:21):
are you not dead?
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Yeah, Mike, that was a full on just slaying. Like
she took a lot of damage to keep going throughout
this entire thing.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
Yeah, it's just like ooh, that's gonna leave Mark definitely
a concussion. So Girsten for confronts Jerry about his frequent
secret meetings with Matt. She says she fully trusts the
two of them, but she does not feel that trust
is being returned anyways.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, just like I don't care. Cool story, bro, we
don't care enough about you exactly.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
We didn't we just say this, admit didn't we just
say this five minutes earlier? At that point, we don't
need another scene to say to say this. We get it.
I still don't care. And so Daredevil goes into muses
layer as the police leave. He feels he feels several
(36:18):
sketches of faces before coming across one that looks like Heather,
or excuse me, feels like Heather.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Now this one did kind of subvert me because when
he was feeling it, if you look at the painting,
her eyes have kind of crossed out bullseyes on them.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
I thought she was going to get the blind spot treatment.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
So I know, following along with us and the Charles
Soul run, you'll know exactly what the blind spot treatment is.
But I thought that this was his way of signaling
what he was going to do to her, and I
was waiting for that moment to happen.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Yep, so who shows up? Officer Powell shows up, walks
in calls out for Darryl to stop, but he hits
him with his billy club oh so good and knocking
him unconscious. But then when Powell wakes up, he calls
FIST letting them know Daredevil was there and that facial
recognition tick identified the sketch as Heather Glenn. This orders
(37:11):
Powell to take her his task force to the office immediately,
and then Heather wakes up by some miracle of comic
and science with her hands tied in her office. So
he got some hand action there, not the right ones.
He is now in full bastion is now in full
Muse gear. Sits in front of her and Heather pleads
(37:33):
with him not to hurt her, but Muse cuts her
arm to begin drawn with her blood, and he hears
Siren's outside and becomes very distracted, and mus picks up
a gun and starts to lay out a large canvas
on the floor. Heather tries to fight back, but Muse
slams her again on the floor she's still awake and
begins to choke her. When this is you know, something
cool with this whole thing is Daredevil crashes in. We
(37:56):
don't get this too much in a Daredevil show, a
daylight's fight sequence. I mean, I I'm Brente. Probably text me,
Travis Will we'll text me when they listen to this
at that one. Maybe you know, was there any kind
of day fight with Daredevil, because one does. If it is,
(38:18):
it's not sticking out to me.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
I honestly cannot think of any one with him in
Daredevil costume. Now, yes, and the Defenders, Matt has fought
in the daylight a couple of times when they went
to the tower when they first all met up, that
was during the daytime. So there have been some Matt
(38:42):
daytime fighting, But I cannot recount a time when Daredevil
was in the daylight.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Yeah, so, I mean even in the season he's fought
in the daylight, but wearing his like you know, the
scarf that does good Jones look like in Moron or
look like an idiot. One can say, well, he's technically
b darvallon, like you said, volundaredbl Colstu. But I'm not
to criticize that. I'm just saying you don't get too
many sequences at all like that I remember just distinctly,
(39:09):
and I believe that. I want to say it was
in Batman No Man's Land that Batman distinctly called out
when the heroes were out in the daylight. He said,
we're in the daylight. We need to move, you know.
We don't we don't we we aren't supposed to be
seen in the daylight. But man, this was a very
cool closed quarter fight between the two.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Yeah, they went, they went at it, and this is probably, uh,
my favorite fight of this season is because they they they.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Went at it.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Now, I'm always sold for the episode one of the
Hallway fight and things like that, but just the the
close quarters, the choreography of this, that back and forth
with this, the fact that the thing that is the
knock for me on the Hallway scene is they relied
a little bit too much on cgi times for this
(40:00):
just felt like two dudes going at it. And the
moment when Darrin al Will throws his club and he
goes through Mus and he hits the ink back and
starts painting the floor with Mus's blood. I'm like, all right,
he's really feeling it. He's gonna do whatever it takes
to stop him.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
At this point, yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Just when he launches that grap I was not prepared
for that. He launched his grappling hook through Muse threw
his back out his chest. I was like, oo, we're
definitely pushing that m rating today. Muse lunches at him
again and at Daredevil, but then bullets rung out. Shot
(40:41):
to me, shouts rung out. Heather shoots him multiple times
in the chest, killing him on sight. She falls to
the floor. I'm lost. Imagine this lots of blood and
Daredevil rushes to her, calling out her name. So good job, Daredevil,
way to keep that secret identity out there. And then
you have you've.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
Got a beard now and you're calling out her name.
All of these are clear signs for her to recognize
who this is.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
Just reaching up.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
And touching your beard and hearing your voice. You don't
think that she's gonna name it. In my notes for
this episode, it literally goes Heather shoots mes w tf brah,
and then Daredevil calls out her name in parentheses.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
Dumb move.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
It's the Clark Kent thing. See two DC references in
the Marvel Show. There, guys, you know we can't he
wears glasses. Wear's a mask. I don't know, Yeah, And
so the task force breaks into the office to find
me is dead, Heather lying and stable on the floor
thanks to Daredevil, you know, trying to get in the wounds,
(41:50):
and Detective North calls out that someone has stabilized the victim. Later,
Fisk arrives at the scene and North tells him that
Daredevil was there. Decides to spin story in which his
task force were the heroes they took down Views and
that Daredevil was never there in an effort to dissuade
the vigilante Justice for the public and North is. North
(42:11):
knows Daredevil there, they saw him go through the window.
Heather knows she shot muse. Either someone's getting bought off,
or someone's getting paid their Heather's getting bought off, or
Heather's about to get basically bumped off at that point,
you know, or she's gonna be scared to even say
(42:32):
anything against it because she's a big thing. They didn't
kill him, I did. I shot him. Check the residue
in my hands at that point, which they probably won't
because reasons.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Yeah, she's getting visited in the hospital from someone who's
going to tell her to keep her mouth shut.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
Yeah, so speaking of keeping your mouth shut. Daniel sitting
at FI Death trying to you know again, Oh my gosh, Daniel,
which Phoebe calls that, should you be doing that. It's like, ah,
I'm good with I'm okay right now. And he watched
the video in which someone says they saw Daredevil enter
the office through the window. I like, enter the office.
He freaking crashed through the office. Yeah. He is interrupted
(43:11):
by BB, whom he called to meet there. Daniel says,
this is tent is tending to a personal matter tonight,
so it's okay for him to be sitting there. Then
he tries to tell his friend I don't see his
father friends that she owes him for after that she
ran the mayor garbage story the week back. I don't
(43:31):
know how she owes him.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
He wants her to run like the other one who
got drunk and started spilling everything.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
I know. He wanted to run a story saying Daredevil
was never on the scene and that the Task Force
killed news. BB says no, but Daniel's like he can
make her life very easy or very difficult. BB doesn't
give him an answer before we cut to the next scene.
And I'm just like, dude, you don't have this power
(43:58):
that like, I like you're connected to fisk. I mean, yeah,
he's not gonna like the press. He's more scary. Dude,
you don't scare anyone right now.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
He's playing with the ring.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
He is going full on movie mob bosson.
Speaker 1 (44:12):
I mean, he's trying to channel Tony Soprano. And I'm
not saying like he is the he's a bad actor.
I'm just saying like he's he's doing good in the
sense of being acting more. I'm just saying the character,
not him, not the actor, not the writing is just
like the characters did. Dude, you do not have this
power you think you do.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
Yeah, Michael Gandolphin, he's doing a great job. But Daniel
Blake is a sniveling little ass clown. And in this
moment it which is like, dude, sit somewhere in the corner.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
What a good That's a good statement for the show.
So Heather wakes up in the hospital with Matt sitting
beside her saying like I had a dream and you
were there, and you were there, you were there, and
just keeps on pointing to him saying, and you wearing
a mask, Oh you're daredevil. Yeah, she tells them he
(45:08):
remembers Daredevil calling her name before she passed out. She
turns on the news to hear being reported that Muse
was killed by the Task Force. This addressed the public,
and I love it that he's holding up the mask,
you know, saying he delivered his promise to keep the
streets safe from vigilantes. His pal holds up mews masks
Wait a minute, music is a vigilante? Where who said
(45:30):
that he's a serial killer? What are we talking about here?
I really want to pull up the whole, you know,
Princess Bride saying, you keep saying this word vigilante. I
don't think this word means what you think it does.
Serial killer, not a vigilante just because they were a mask.
It's not a vigilant.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
Of the episode, you say that the streets are scared
because of all this, but now you're painting him as
this vigilante like it's it's one of the other. Either
they know he is a killer or he is a vigilante,
one or the other.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
But how is he a vigilante? Like, what in anything
that we have seen in this show says he's a vigilante? Yeah,
and he's not punisher.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
At least in the comics, he painted stuff that celebrated
the heroes, especially once Fist became Mayor. But in this moment,
he's not doing any of that. He's just a guy
painting in blood and kidnapping people that there's no vigilanti.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
I'm just saying he's a kidnapper. He's a serial killer.
He already have like a murau that had sixty victims
at that point and tied to it. It's like, no, yeah,
I don't even just no bad writing on that one
serial killer. I know what he's always going at their
vigil Anti task force. It's like just because a mask,
(46:51):
someone wears a mask does not only make them make
him a vigilante. Plenty of Sierracos were masks that that
point to real life examples that they're serial killers. AnyWho,
nothing of that now, not beating that dead horse. I
just wanted to make that point clear. So Vanessa sits
alone at home and she sent the text with an
address saying he's alone. We then see Luca or receive
(47:15):
the text in his car, drives off Fiscus sitting alone
in a restaurant, eating his bad his his cheat meal
as we're gonna call it, and Luca enters, points a
gun at his back, at the back of his head,
but bay him Bye bye. Luca.
Speaker 4 (47:31):
He going.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
She needs to do two in the head though we
gotta be careful. We don't want to we have to
do zombie rules two in the head. We don't want
to come back this calmly. Thanks, thank you, Buck and
who steps out of the shadows very much creepy mobster style.
This tells Buck to ask Vanessa if she would like
him to bring her something home. As the episode ends,
(47:56):
I again am in the camp that Vanessa set Luca up.
She was never going to betray Wilson because she Luca
is a loose cannon. If he was willing to try
to take out Fisk, because he fused him as a thread,
there is nothing to say that when, if, and when
he views Vanessa thread, he will try to take her out.
(48:16):
This was a step to get rid of Luca because
he even said saying I'm not paying the two point
eight million dollars to two million dollars whatever it was,
to that this is making me do so again. He
is a liability. She saw it very quickly. I'm in
the camp that Vanessa set him up.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
I am going to take that a step further and
say that Fisk told Vanessa.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
To set him up.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
Still works.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
There we go, this is all orchestrated.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
Now.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
My one thing with Luca is I'm sorry, Like I
get you thought that he was going to be there alone,
but did you not take even a moment to survey
the room to make sure he was truly alone before
you try and put like.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
This just seems like mobstering.
Speaker 3 (49:01):
Like I'm no expert in the field, but this just
seems like some bad mobstering.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Bad mobbing. So but yeah, so the episode ends, there
is probably you know, like we said, Muse was wasted.
I'm just gonna I'm planning to say it wasted. I
didn't I didn't need and I said before, I don't
need the inhuman background of it. We could have used
(49:27):
Mus building up so when most the city is gripped
in fear, again, when how who's gripping it in fear?
Are you saying it's Muse? Haven't seen it? You've more
told the story at that point, and the worst we
saw Mus was the random scenes of him either stabbing
a victim at the end of an episode, kidnapping, the
quick kidnapping of the two girls, the two fangirls at
(49:48):
that point, and then the most we got was him
taking Angela at that point. We didn't see the big
things like we did see in the comics of this
build up at that point. And I'm not saying mus
is the best arrativild villain of all time. He's definitely
the creepiest. He's definitely the most sadistic, and take away
(50:10):
his powers at that point, even take away the powers
in the comics, that's from getting that, he's still a threat.
He's still creepy as I'll get out, and he still
could be viewed as putting this city in a threat,
especially if he keeps on putting these murals and it's
more bodies, more victims and things like that. But we
got more tell about this with MWS than we did
seeing it, and that's disappointing.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
Yeah, I would definitely like to hear more of him,
about his art and you know, his motivations. We just
it was a wasted character and that is the biggest
part that gives this a knock for me. Had I
had more MWS in, if I hadn't felt like he
was wasted. Had this episode still in it the way
(50:55):
it did, I would have been okay with it. But
the fact that we did not get in need deepness
to this big, bad character and then this is how
he goes out took it down a big chunk for me.
I think right now, like I said, it's teetering between
third or fourth one at all. I would the more
(51:18):
I think about it, the more I'd say it's probably
number four on my list. Again, it's not the worst,
it's not completely at the bottom. It no way beats
episode four, and it doesn't beat episode one, and I
would say episode three is above it as well.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, like I said, we knew, as we said before,
this is this was not a show like The Muse,
like the Meuse season at that point, but it just
seemed like a throwaway character you could but anyone out there.
There was bad build up with the character. As we said,
we didn't see him. We saw him once out of
the mask at the beginn answer of it, but there
was no connection to Muse. And then all of a
(51:55):
sudden we get him in the therapist's office for the only
the second time out of the mask, and we're supposed
to say that wait a minute, that's muse, I totally
miss that. When did that happen?
Speaker 3 (52:03):
What?
Speaker 1 (52:03):
Am me? It was only the first episode, Like it
was just it's a problem that this show that will
haunt this show until the second season, where basically everyone's
gonna be like, Okay, no strikes, no stopping and rewriting,
no change over the guard at that point, like it's
there are no excuses this time none. And I'm hoping
(52:25):
I am hoping that with knowing that episode eight nine
were completely new redone, no no old stuff associated with it,
that we get a good ending to the season that
will lift it up and not fall into what many
MCU shows happened, that the penultimate episode, which is next week,
(52:46):
rocks it out and then the finale just kind of
whimpers home. And I think they may that may not
happen because we know we're getting a second season that
they're in the middle of filming right now, of which,
seeing the said photos that are out there, I couldn't
help myself on this one, just because when I was
told it wasn't like I can look at that and
not be completely ruined with it. These were controlled leaks,
(53:11):
absolutely controlled leaks.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
They were beautiful high definition.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
That's what I'm saying. They were. Yeah, so we're not
gonna say what they were. We're not gonna put them
on the show. We were Branch and I were very
clear at this after a while, especially with during the
day we're during the Deadpool Wolverine stuff, We're just not
gonna do them. Not because we're worried about getting copyright
strikes or anything like that, but because we are gonna
be very careful continuing on and what's out there to give.
(53:37):
It's one thing to talk about casting rumors, one thing
to talk about things, but set photos we're not just
we're not doing it. Let other shows do that. That's
their thing, that's not our thing. So yeah, but all right,
So next week penultimate episode, we'll see if a continue
of the track record of Disney Plus shows with it
with a great penultimate, We're gonna get Frank back next week.
(53:59):
I'm hoping, come on, can't protect your French women? Read?
How about Foggy you get live love?
Speaker 3 (54:12):
Just another example he couldn't protect his women because she
definitely has a concussion.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Your MoMA got protect you?
Speaker 4 (54:19):
Read?
Speaker 1 (54:22):
All Right, Well, Louis will take our next ad break
before we get into the news of Cinema Con. So listeners,
these ads help keep the lights on a geeg Ultimate
Aliance network. We don't get to choose what ads come on,
and they could be a bit loud. Give you that
three count before they come on, three two one, We'll
be right back and we are back, all right. So
(54:43):
Cinema Con uh. For those that don't know what it is,
first time hearing about this, Cinema Con is an annual
convention that has been around for a while. It's just
recently memory has picked up a lot of steam because
of what they show off there. It is may It
is mainly geared towards theater owners to promote the idea
(55:05):
like hey, this is what you got coming to you,
trying to get them to buy, to get them to say, okay,
well we like this, we think it's gonna be a
big hit. Well we'll prioritize it. It's not so much this,
but it is mainly for them. Some press gets invite.
It is not a huge press event. It's not meant
to be a press thing, but they know that the
press wants to talk about, like the trailers that are
(55:27):
out there, things like that, and it's been a kind
of a spotty record for what has shown at CinemaCon
versus what we immediately get in released immediately after. You know,
I believe I think it was CinemaCon that No Way
Home trailer, the first full one was portrayed there, and
I remember we did a kind of a live roll
in the dice because nothing's said that trailer was going
(55:49):
to be released, and luckily it did. But you know,
with the Superman stuff, I've only gotten a chance to
watch part of it. I've all finished up after the show.
The clip that was supposed to be in front of Minecraft, well,
guess what that? Guess what that was gonna be the
only reason a lot of people We're gonna go to
the Minecraft movie and leave. Guess what, Instead of letting
the scot intend of letting the scalpers put it out
(56:11):
there in really bad lighting, James Gunn probably just have
screw it. We tried, We should have realized this was
a sill a day. I put it out there for
everyone to see. Now, you don't need to go see
a Minecraft movie if you do, more power to it.
Not my tempo, but we we got some information and
David and I, Brent and I Travis and I have
(56:34):
gone on and railed about Sony when Sony has done
what Sony does and botches certain things. But the one
thing we have to admit they have done well relatively
is the partnership with Marvel when it comes to MCU
Spider Man for the most part, and then Spider Verse.
So we got some answers, and we're gonna start off
(56:57):
with quote unquote the bigger one because the other one's
kind of like, okay, were removing the needle. We now
have official confirmation. Daniel Crenton came out on stage and
introduced Spider Man four officially to the world, dated with
a title spider Man Brand New Day. I'm sorry they
(57:20):
got to stop this exclusively in the home. Stop stop,
stop stop. They need to stop this. We're not in
COVID anymore. No one else thinks this done. Remove it.
We don't need it anymore. So anyway, spider Man Brand
New Day, Marvel Studios at the top July thirty first,
twenty twenty six, that we have an official date. This
comes after next year, after Doomsday, and then this is
(57:41):
a one two punch summer for the MCU at that point.
So Spider Man Brand New Day. We don't know. They
didn't go to any of the details. Excuse me, I
misspoke with the directors in my apologies destined Daniel Crenton,
excuse me. So he came out on stage and said,
(58:02):
I'm spending my time exploring the next stage of this
amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists
in the world. We're all we're all just daily nerding
out over the suit, how to swing, how to create
an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we
haven't really seen before. Tom Holland videoed in because he
(58:22):
is in the middle of filming Christopher Nolan's Odyssey film.
He said, I am so sorry I can't be there
with you. I'm halfway around the world shooting a movie.
I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at
the end, no way home. So Spider Man brand New
Day is a fresh start, is exactly that. That is
all I can say. And we didn't get any footage.
(58:45):
You know, they haven't even started anything in production. We
just got this and now the madness continues. People are
just like I think we were talking to the chats
like I'm just done with Spider Man rivers. No We're
just going to get even more crazy at this point.
So so let me put this down off the screen.
Spider Man, Brand New Day, David, I would ask Bread
(59:09):
the same thing. I already know his opinion. You're going
to stand in for both of them. How do you
feel about this title?
Speaker 2 (59:16):
You were told by my response.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
So I was actually on an airplane when this news
group I was having a travel day. Brent text me
and he said, I know you probably can't see anything
right now. So I'm texting this Steve because he knew
I had text alerts on, and he told me the title,
and I responded back and said that, oh wow, this
(59:44):
is what they picked. I kind of want to jump
out of the plane.
Speaker 2 (59:48):
I am not, to.
Speaker 3 (59:50):
Which he responded and said he wants to buy a
plane ticket just so he can.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Jump out of a plane.
Speaker 1 (59:58):
I am not a Batman has three DC references in
one Marble show keeping count Bingo card, Guys, Bingo Card.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
I'm not a fan of the Brand New Day storyline,
but the the tagline going with that, going with that
as the title, I understand it. With the fallout of
the last movie, it does make sense for that aspect
of it. There's just some things with the book itself
(01:00:29):
that just it. It is a PTSD moment for me
as a Spider Man fan. That is just not not
a moment in spitting time that I want to relive.
And so I'm excited because I love Tom Holland. I
love Tom Holland in this role. I'm excited for the
opportunity to see where this goes, the new direction that
they can take Spider Man since the fall out of
(01:00:51):
everything else. But yeah, that that title, it has taken
a little bit too.
Speaker 4 (01:00:59):
To get you too.
Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
And also the fact that the word home is nowhere
in the title. They are definitely going in a new direction.
Speaker 1 (01:01:09):
Details right, twenty twenty six is loaded with marble content. Yep,
it's gonna be It's gonna be a good year. So
I do not have as much hate as you and
Brent do for this. My my ultimate hate is the
title I joke around seriously, not seriously, that shall not
be named this hope I'm gonna name anyways one more day.
I have more hate for that. I have more and
(01:01:32):
hate to strong word. I'm not even going to the
temple like that was a complete unnecessary betrayal of Spider Man. Fans.
I'm all about new directions. I'm all about changing the
status quo. That was not necessary to move Spider Man
in a new direction. It doesn't The removal of the marriage,
(01:01:53):
the deal with Methisto just felt like a big slap
in the face for so much of that that was
not necessary to save aunt May's life. Like I it
just yeah, oh, I mean so much bad that. J
michaels Erzinski has been very much on record saying that
wasn't his choice, that was a joke Azada thing, Yeah,
(01:02:16):
you know, and Jokazada knows and knows how hated that
was and things like that. It has stuck. I mean
that it has. I'm more impressed that they didn't try
to fix it. At this point, it's still they still
aren't together. It just brand new day. Yes, I did
(01:02:37):
have a lot of dislike for it in the beginning,
just because of where it was coming from. And I
just didn't like that we were doing this to Peter Parker.
That felt completely unnecessary for what it was. It gave
us back some characters, and I think it if. What
I did like from it was, you know, a reintroduction
of Harry Osbourne. You know, we got Harry Back. You
(01:02:59):
know I'm not mistaken, am I?
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Yes, yeh y.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
But what I really liked, we got a new villain.
We got Mister Negative out of this. There's a couple
of storylines that come from Brand New Day that lead
to and I know it's not like under the Brand
New Day auspices, but like the Gauntlet came out of
Brand New Day, or right after Brand New Day, we
got anti Venom coming out of it, like what led
(01:03:24):
to some great like I there are some good things
that come a little bit later after Brand New Day.
I think and I understand that yours and Brent's hate
for it just because of like what preceded it. And
I think that's where more of your hate for it
comes from versus the the idea of the whole concept.
Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Yeah, it's it's it's the totality of it. It's not
just the single part. It is definitely the totality of it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
So so again not telling you get over it. I'm
just saying that, you know, like I said, I I
do not have as much hate as you both do.
But as you both said, you're still going to see it,
You're still going to go forward with it at that
point speculation. At this point we got twenty twenty six.
He you know, we we if rumors are to be
(01:04:16):
believed the Citie Sink's going to be involved in this,
we still have no idea about her character. We don't
know this.
Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
I might have an idea now since this is what
they're going with, but we shall see.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
Oh go ahead, or are you going to save it
for something else?
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
I know I I'm wondering if in the fall out
of it, it's going to be the superheroine Jackpot, because
she does have red hair and she is in that storyline.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
Oh Jackpott, the movie that Sony could Never Never did.
Going on to that point, like, we don't know if
this is street level, We don't know if this is multiversal.
We know it comes and we know it comes after Doomsday,
but we also people say, oh, well, Allen's not in
the doomsdays. We don't know that for sure. We just
(01:05:03):
know he wasn't named in this initial casting. He may
not be named in the next official drop of casting.
He may be the surprise cameo that happened at some point.
Just because we do not hear the name Tom Holland
does not necessarily mean he is not an Avengers Doomsday.
I'm just putting it out there. So until we see
the movie and until we see him not in it, yeah,
(01:05:25):
then we can fish and say, Yep, Tom Holland was
not in that movie. He's very He's gonna be very busy.
You know, they have even started quote unquote filming Doomsday yet,
they are in production. They have not started filming yet,
and we we will probably not get a I will
be I will be very curious to see if we
(01:05:47):
even get a trailer by the end of this year.
I could see us getting our first trailer much like
Dead Pul Wolverine at the Super Bowl next year.
Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
I would agree.
Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
So that that that that maybe that was an that
was a unintentional factor fiction. So yeah, so I'm excited.
You know, we got a title, we got a date.
We know where it did, and that's probably a date
that's gonna stick because we've been hearing a lot of
rumors that they want that Spider Man movie coming in
between Doomsday and Secret Wars. So but the next thing
(01:06:26):
we got was remember a little movie called Spider Man
Beyond the Spider Verse, you know when that was supposed
to come.
Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Out a year ago almost to the day.
Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
Yeah, so we've been wondering what's going on. We've had
the lead actor of who plays the voice of Miles
putting his foot in his mouth and keep on doing it.
Go on, just look at the stories, look at the responses.
I'm going to be very curious on that's press stour.
(01:06:57):
I'm not saying time heels wounds, but it's gonna get
interesting at that point.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
I would not be surprised if, depending on if this
sticks to its projected release timetable that is not during
football season. So I would not be surprised if Josh
Allen is sitting in the corner of every sea.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Just say it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:24):
Be creepy, creepy to my my wife, be creepy.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
Now come on, but like go ahead say, I know
you want to say this.
Speaker 4 (01:07:32):
God.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
Yeah, I'm not saying I'm not saying Haley can't defend herself.
She she she's fine, but you know she. I still
love it saying yeah, we got the Acs, we got
the Bills, and then the Bills three sons. So yeah,
So Spider Man Beyond Spider Verse is still coming. Uh
described as a massive finale, features an entirely new animation style,
(01:07:53):
which we got some pre the CinemaCon people got got
some like some full motion preview of we got some
release stuff of Fish out there. Uh picks up immediately
after the second film, which we all kind of figured
bigger and bolder than the previous two films. The entire
team is working on new animation techniques, hopefully under better conditions.
(01:08:13):
Because that whole article, I think it was put up
by Vice like shortly after the movie came out. That
was damning. It is now scheduled to hit theaters June fourth,
twenty twenty seven. I can't remember did did in did
them Across come out? That's the second one I always
get the two conversed across and into the second movie.
(01:08:36):
Did that come out in May or June?
Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
I want to say that that came out in May,
but wanting double June second?
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
So yes, because I was out of town and its
official so its official release date was June second. I
saw it on June first, because I remember going out
of town for an event that started on the thirty first,
and I still made sure I popped over to the
movie theater to make sure that I saw it, even
though I was out of town.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
Gotcha. So I remember buying those tickets when I was
coming back from Mexico because they had just dropped on
my way back. So I said, I'm getting my best
seat at that point. I'm not waiting around for this,
And there's a lot writing of those I think. I
don't think the fervor for it is going to die down.
I just think it's unfortunate that has taken this long
(01:09:32):
to get it. But again, I'm hoping the treatment of
the animators is going to be better. So so yeah,
So that's the kind of CinemaCon news. We know. Marvel
had a panel with Disney tonight, but from everything we've
David shared with me since I was kind of in
and out of it today, not much. Not much we
either didn't know or not much even really to talk about. So,
(01:09:54):
but Marvel doesn't do much with CinemaCon anyways, because they've
already put out some stuff. So I think officially now
we've got confirmed that Figi says we're not done with
the cast reveals for Doomsday, which Hollywood Reporter we already
talked about. So but all right, so let us get
into some feedback factor fiction. So we actually had questions.
(01:10:16):
I've been trying to do better about asking questions on Twitter,
Blue Sky threads. I've even hey, for the first time
I remembered do better about it posting the live stuff
on all those that as well so people can check
it out and pay attention. But we have all these
questions coming through them actually threads this week, So David,
(01:10:41):
what have we got with that? I'm going to pull
up Factor fiction so we have those ready to go.
Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
All right, So first question from JK.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Green?
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
Was it ever explained as to why Kingpin is not
in prison at the end of season three we saw
him going back. Do you think they just writ condapt
for the new show.
Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
I will say.
Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
In my mind it wasn't officially explained other than things
happened during the five year blip. It's touched on in
Hawkeye and again in Echo. So I would just say
that because of Keepin being who he is and everything
(01:11:20):
happening in the blip, he used his immense powers and
connectionsipt weasel his way out of prison because he was
unjustly set up. And if there is no one there
that can prove that he did what he did because
they were blipped, well, how can anyone testify against him,
so no one to testify.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Man gets off.
Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
And guess what. They kind of bring up that idea
in the comics in the storyline we're talking about tonight
mayor Fisk, you know, they bring that exact reason up,
saying nothing ever connected, you know, So he might have
gotten away with it, he might have gotten gotten off,
he might have never ever stepped through through prison. So
we don't know that. It is a good question, but
they have not addressed that at all on the show.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
So there is no definitive answer. There's just there's hints
at it that have been spread through his last three appearances,
but nothing that says he used this loophole or he
used this reasoning and that's how he got off. As
far as he's telling everyone, he was a legitimate businessman
who just got set up.
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
I got I didn't nothing happened to me. Lawyer screwed me.
So all right, we got I see, we got Phil.
What a pill out to say?
Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
Yes, question from Phil do you think Garedevil Born Again
may end up being just fine when it is all
said and done, or will the last two episodes go
off with a real bang? I am I'm not quite
prepared to say that we are going to get a
real bang. I do think that it will end up
(01:12:52):
above just fine, but I think that it is going
to be more of a set up slash sleaed and
I think there will be a bang, but it's that
holds you over what have you want? Team more, not
a definitive ending to the story, but just wait and
see when we come back.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Yeah, yeah, I think I don't think it's gonna be
just fine. I think it's going to be above just fine.
I think it's gonna be one of those, as I said,
it's gonna be a two tail, two different types of shows.
You had to show that as Frankenstein, and then you're
gonna have the second season that I hope is going
(01:13:36):
to be more consistent in the sense of like the
feel and the tone. It doesn't feel like things were Frankensteined.
So it doesn't make it a bad season. It just
makes it the way they promoted in the beginning, and
then we found out more information, it's like, oh okay,
I mean it's a choice. It's a way to kind
of make it more through line. It doesn't make it.
We've seen way far worse than this by any stretch.
(01:13:59):
But I don't think it's going to be just fine.
I think I think it'll be definitely above average, too good.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
You know, Yeah, it's it's not going to be the
grand handling that you know, some people expected when this
was announced. And again, part of that does go to
the rewrights and the retooling of it all. But do
you think that it is going to it's going to
set a tone that is going to carry us not
only into the next Punisher project, but next season of
(01:14:29):
Daredevil that will have a more cohesive story.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Well, it's also as Brent Brent has said and I
have said on this show that do not let your
speculation become your expectation. And I think that's what happened
with the show, especially when they said, oh, it's going
through massive rewrites. Did it now? Did it? You know,
you know, as massive as we thought when they said
(01:14:54):
it made a massive overhaul. So but that's what happens,
and we got I see, we got Anthony Dorsey right
back in.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Uh, friend Anthony Dorsey. With this question is were you
satisfied with the way they used mus in the show? Personally,
I expected a lot more being a minor villain over
only two episodes. Answer that, as we touched.
Speaker 4 (01:15:19):
On, are not satisfied.
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
I was definitely not satisfied. I hoped and expected for more,
and I won't even say that that is me having
a too high of expectations, especially the way that he
was used in the promotion of the show, that his
paintings were using the promotion of the show, everything else
(01:15:47):
was used to make him seem like he was going
to be the overarching big bag and to go out
not with a bang but with a whimper just does
not sit right with me, especially considering I'm currently rereading
his run in the comics, so it is fresh in
(01:16:10):
my memory just the type of character he truly is
and how stripped down he is. I mean, not even
you could take away the power as sense of him,
but the fact that you took away the personality of him,
You took away his talk, his love of his art,
everything that made muse himself, and just fully stripped down
(01:16:32):
this character to just a stalker level killer.
Speaker 4 (01:16:36):
Just yeah, not a good luck yep.
Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
So nope, fully agree, I've already said it. Not happy,
just unfortunate. So all right, thank you all for writing in.
As like I said, I'm going to try to because
everyone's all spread out on different social media, so you know,
appreciate y'all writing in, and uh yeah, we will see
what you bring us next week. So all right, fact
(01:17:00):
fictions from last week, So here we go. Number one,
this is coming from Travis Lawyer. Matt Murdoch will share
this green with Kamala Khan in the near future. Seventy
eight percent in fact, twenty two percent in fiction. What
say you?
Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
I say that that is going to be a fact,
and I am I'm looking forward to Matt possibly taking
another trip out Wes. I think is where it's going
to happen. I don't think it will happen in Jersey.
I think what happened he will. He will make another
trip out there where she is currently at per her father,
(01:17:37):
and so we will see another interaction with her. And
I honestly, I just am on Valani like her as
a person and a character. Give me as much string
time with her as possible.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
She's just great.
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Yeah, it's and it's yeah. Like I said, I can't
remember how I voted at that point, but I would
like to see it. Not sure if it's going to happen.
Number two, Foggy Nelson is still alive.
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
Oh, absolutely, secret life of Foggy Nelson. I have a
feeling someone asked me about that this week if in
these last two episodes you're going to get a definitive answer,
and I said, it will probably be a closing credits
moment or something that leads into season two. I don't
(01:18:30):
think we're going to dive deep into the Foggy still alive.
I think you may just get some type of passing
hint that he's still alive, and then we'll touch on
it more in season two.
Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
Factor fiction number three Jack Jack de Quence will be
killed or captured by the new Anti vigil Anti tax
Force in Daredevil Board again forty eight percent in fact,
fifty two percent at fiction. I definitely was a fiction
on this one.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
I'm gonna go fiction on that. I think that he
is smart and cunning enough not to get captured, but
I do think that there will probably be some interaction
between him in the Anti Vigilant task Force.
Speaker 1 (01:19:11):
YEP, and number number four, Halle Berry Storm will be
named as another character in Avengers.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Doomsday named no Appear.
Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
Yes, all right, I think that they will keep I
do think that there will be more announcements. Of characters,
but I do think there will still be some that
they don't announce just for the pop in the theater.
Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
All right, so here are mind for this week, all
Spider related. So we won't see Miles Morales officially in
the MCU until Spider Man five.
Speaker 4 (01:20:00):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
In detail, while you're thinking about that, detail says I
think they wrote the task Force in for the Punisher
to kill them off.
Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Yes, yes, someone's at least pal. I'm going to go
fact on that. I am going to go fact on that.
I think that they will wait until after this trilogy
of into the Spider Verse is wrapped up, and I
(01:20:33):
think they will let Spider Man have his next movie
in their new direction before introducing him.
Speaker 4 (01:20:39):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
And I just said Miles just Miles a character, not
necessay Miles Spider Man. So yeah, so I'm a fact
as well. The alien black costume will not appear in
Spider Man for Brand New Day.
Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
I will go back on that. I do not think
that they will do it before Secret War. I also
don't think with the Venom saga wrapping up so recently
that they would jump right back into using a black costume.
(01:21:25):
So I think that they will wait and bring that back.
If they do it in Secret War, they can find
a way to do it there. But I don't think
they would come out the gate and go right back
into the costume.
Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
Yeah, I'm a fact on this one because a couple
of things. When I'll say this, I won't be I
won't totally pooh poo it if it's if it's in it,
I'll be disappointed because what to your point, we just
went through three Vendom movies, like them or hate them.
(01:22:00):
I've said it before, We've said it before. Those movies
made box office. You can't deny what the movie's made
at that point. Yes, of diminishing returns, but it's still
made much more money than a number of films that
people thought should have made more money. But I think
to establish this brand New Day as bad as what
(01:22:22):
was lappened at the end of No Way Home into
what brand New Day is again, we're just speculating right
now to jump into the black costume. The Black costume
for Peter Parker is a saga at that point, and
they have an easy through line to re establish Peter
in whatever kind of new life he has to get
(01:22:44):
him into battle World, whatever secret Wars is to get
the black costume there and go into a fifth Spider
Man movie. That is I think a better progression. I
think the black costume has to be put into it
organically Secret Wars, even the original Secret War. That's how
it was introduced, bringing into a new status quo for
Spider Man. At that point, with whatever they're doing, I
(01:23:07):
think it's a better through line. I think it's more earned.
I think just to give him a whole new costume,
the black costume right there, I just don't think it's earned.
So last one, Toby Maguire and or Andrew Garfield here
we Go will appear as their respective Spider Man in
(01:23:28):
Spider Man Beyond the Spider Verse.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
So and or I am going to say fact, because
you threw in the and or that that is the
key right there, I am. I'm going to say fact.
I think that we will get something a'llah Donald Glover
when he appeared as a version of the Prober. I
(01:23:55):
think we are going to get a version of them
that make an appearance.
Speaker 1 (01:23:59):
So I did not put live action. I just said
will appear, so it could be voice, could be live action.
I say it's more voice. At that point I think
it's very easy to do that. If this is the
grand finale they want, one or both of them could
come in very easily. I think there's more of a
chance for Andrew than Toby.
Speaker 3 (01:24:18):
So now my question with that would be, now I'm
going to say fact on this, but my question with
that would be, is this new footage or reuse footage?
Because there is a way that if again you're going
between universes and you're opening portals, you can open a
portal with some old footage.
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
Yeah, oh, either of them.
Speaker 3 (01:24:38):
No, they could technically have appeared.
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
Nope, no new animation. There'll be an animated spider at
that point, you know, and they have to speak. When
I say Toby nandur in it, that means it's either.
Like I said, I think it's more likely. I think
it'd be a huge who if they do a Donald
Glover kind of thing with live action being put in there.
I don't I'm not betting on that. I'm thinking it's
going to be a small speaking part of one of
(01:25:03):
both of them in their animated forms that we know
can clearly tell that those are their costumes. So, because
we got the friendly neighborhood and we've got the amazing
Spider Man. So but all right, I will put those
out there on Sunday afternoon. Let your voices be heard
with that, and let us get into Daredevil five ninety
(01:25:24):
five to six hundred. The story arc Mayor Fisk. I'm
going to say it right now, David, this is by
far the best Arc of Souls run.
Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
I will definitely agree from a writing standpoint, from an
introspective standpoint, it is top tier of his run.
Speaker 1 (01:25:52):
And like we said, we're gonna kind of we're not
going to go issue by issue. We're just going to
talk about the arc as a whole. The from the gate,
you know, him coming back and finding out like Fiscus
mayor Foggy tried to get him but he was off
the grid, and just finding out, oh yeah, we got
to dig into the mayor. We gotta do that in
the day is like, no, you know, I know you
(01:26:14):
have a history and you don't trust him. And I'm
not saying he might have bought the election and done
something legal, but we've got to follow what the mayor
is doing and this is not going to go well.
So but then the idea that this chooses Matt as
his deputy mayor, and Matt agrees, I mean, what a
(01:26:38):
what an interesting idea.
Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
Yeah, and this shows the smarts of Wilson Fisk. I mean,
we've had a lot of his fruite strength in him
just being the Kingpin, but this is this is the
chess piece part of it. Everything from being mayor, like
Foggy explains, he waited to the very last moment of
the very last day to put himself in the candidacy.
(01:27:03):
People were so focused on everything else, no one took
him serious. And all he did was talk about the
reasons why he was the perfect person to clean up
New York, how he's loved New York. He's been the poor,
the rich, everything else. Like he appeals to every single
base and he just he won his way in.
Speaker 5 (01:27:21):
And then the moments of Matt having to deal with
the fact that, Okay, my greatest enemy is here, and
then all right, well, I'm gonna make you deputy mayor,
and all these little moments where Kingpin is just playing
him the entire time.
Speaker 4 (01:27:39):
He sets him up.
Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
When they capture Mat and they bring him to his
office and Matt bust out the window, Kingpinn sets him
up to be public enemy number won.
Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
Yeah, he says he attacked me. He's saying, all right,
not really, he just broke your window and escaped.
Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
He didn't really attack it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
All people saw was Daredevil entered. Yep, a window was broken,
Daredevil escaped, and the mayor is claiming, so we are
going to follow the He is playing chess and it
is amazing, this entire.
Speaker 1 (01:28:12):
Run and the idea of you know, we get that
and just to see, like the deputy mayor, he's not
gonna have any powers. He's just burying them under and
having someone read to him like, this is not doing anything.
I remember Wilson Fisks at this point does not remember
anymore that Matt and Daredevil are the same person. He
(01:28:32):
knows Matt has connections to Daredevil, and he when this
is this whole thing trying to do his outlaw of
vigilanteism or anything, is you know, his own little you know,
superhuman Registration Act, not registering but outlawing them. He's like,
it's basically going in conflict with the case that Matt
(01:28:55):
just won to get them, and that's the reason he's
doing it, to get them off the table, to not
turn people against him against this and put him down,
and he realized in Matt and Philis puts him in
his place a number of times, saying, you continue to
do this, I'm not only gonna fire you, I'm gonna
you won't be able to work enter and I'm gonna
(01:29:17):
go after you.
Speaker 2 (01:29:18):
Yeah, I'm gonna railroad you.
Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
I'm gonna throw every superhero that you are friends with him,
because right now he just thinks you are associated with
and you have friends. He's like, no, I'm going to
come after you. I'm going to make sure all your
superhero friends arrested. I will destroy your life. These are
your options. You either be my deputy mayor and sit
here and read these briefs and be my figure head
(01:29:42):
that I need you to be, or I will take
you down legally.
Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
Yep. So you know, Dariedel, Matt's had enough, and you
know mewse enters to seem like muse somehow escape seeing
human prison.
Speaker 4 (01:29:56):
You know, just becides he's got another art project.
Speaker 2 (01:29:59):
So he's gonna I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
Done, you know, re enter blind Spot. We're seeing that,
and he takes Matt to task because he does it
a couple of times in mattches, I promise you do
the prices stomach's promises. Man, We've we've been down this road.
You can't keep them, you know, I've seen exactly that.
And you know, blind Spot faces down Muse at one
(01:30:21):
point and is able to stand toe to toe with
him and means basically kills himself.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
And I was not a fan of what preceded this
with blind Spot in the arc.
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
Where they were in China.
Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
Just yeah, oh yeah, it was a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
But the aftermath of that and the way that blind
Spot continues to talk to him like, I'm going to
help you because it's the right thing to do, it's
what I need, but I'm also going to check you
and be like, hey, stop making you can't keep these promises.
You have failed at your promises, or hey this is
(01:30:59):
a dumb move. I'll help you if you need it.
I'll be there when you need me too, but I
just want you to know, like I still feel a
certain type of way about you.
Speaker 1 (01:31:08):
Yeah. And Matt has then linked up with his street
level heroes because he says, I'm going to find a
way to link Fist because in the background he knows
and he's overheard Fist trying to consolidate the families and
putting mobsters or quote unquote anti heroes in charge of
major departments, and he wants to link him to Fisk,
(01:31:32):
and he says, it's how we're going to do it.
They got set up. They went to this bar or
basically the as we say, the bar with no name,
and you know, Fist doesn't show up and it becomes
a huge fight that the costs break up and arrest
the heroes, some of them, if not enough of them.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
They everyone but Daredevil.
Speaker 3 (01:31:55):
And first thing out of King penn'smouth is you got
Spider Man? Who is He like, well, he webbed up
his mask and we can't get it off.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
He's like, oh yeah, that'll dissipate in a while.
Speaker 3 (01:32:05):
But like you're rusting Whuizzy tell me you took the
mask off? But yeah, they get Luke Cage, they get
shu Chi, they get Jessica Jones on the they get
moon Night on the flip side of it, they get
Felicia Hardy, they get Tombstone, they get Auslie, they get
a diamondback theck like it's a whole big thing, and
(01:32:28):
once again this is playing chess out here and swoops
everybody up.
Speaker 1 (01:32:34):
Yep, Daredevil tries to face him down before the big speech.
He doesn't win. He gets arrested and finds out that
during the speech, then Wilson's attacked by none other than
the hand. He literally is arrowed, basically looks like he's
on his deathbed. And then as Daredevil's arrested, he's overhearing
(01:32:57):
like the bookworm guy that keeps on reading to him,
and he says, I need to find Matt. Murdoch said why,
and you know we got daredel on the back. He said, well,
you know, the mayor's been the mayor's been injured. You
know we've He's like, okay, we get up. I can't
remember what they call it, like the good goodwill person
or whatever it is, a public advocate, whatever they want
(01:33:17):
to call it. And the guy says, no, the last
mayor changed that, and Mayor Fist hadn't changed that, because
remember all these hittens like, oh, you're just doing it
so that way, you know, you can take down the
mayor and then you can be the mayor. He's like, no,
that's not how it works. He said that two or
three times in this ad.
Speaker 4 (01:33:33):
The line of succession.
Speaker 3 (01:33:34):
They keep talking about the line of scenes like I'm like,
I can't be. I'm not a publicly elected figure. That's
not the way this works, Like it's it can only
be a certain person. But then it turns out, all right,
it can't be because the regulations were never changed. It's
supposed to be the public advocate. It is very falling
(01:33:58):
to it, and they're like, up, last guy changed it.
It's never been changed back, and here we go. The
deputy mayor is now the.
Speaker 1 (01:34:07):
Mayor and that is Matt Murdoch. But Matt Murdoch is
arrested as Daredevil, and so that's where we kind of
leave it on the cliffhanger. I As, as we said before,
this is his best arc right now. I'm not saying
the other ones were were bad. It was just like
they just some reason. This just put the stakes where
(01:34:28):
it was. The writing was good, I thought the art
was great. Yeah, this is that. So we've only actually
got two more arcs left of Soul's run, so it's
gonna be kind of timely. We we did a good
job even with the breaks that we had at that point.
The breaks are going to line up with the end
of this Born Again series, so so more than likely
(01:34:49):
I will say this, we're probably gonna take a short
break from Comic Book Club after this. It's it's it's
been a fun experiment. David and I will kind of
reassess and see exactly if we want to. We said
this was gonna be our first time doing arcs. We're
probably our next one is going to be issued by issue.
It's not gonna be as long. We're gonna give ourselves
a little break, but probably're gonna take a little break
from Comboo Club to give ourselves a little bit of
(01:35:12):
a rest at that point. But we've only got two
more arcs left. So I know I didn't see him
in the chat tonight, but I know he'll be listening
a fifth of Jack hopefully you you did your homework
this week, and but we will see you all next
week with that would be issues and we pull up
my notes one to six oh five, so the pen
(01:35:32):
ultimate arc of this. So all right, well, we've got
episode May, we got volume two fifty five in the books,
and David tell people how they can follow you.

And a standing man would say, excelsior, true believers. All right, David,
what you got for post credits discussion tonight?
Speaker 4 (01:37:45):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:37:46):
Post credits Kerry Coon, who played approximate midnight exit Marvel
after studio said we're not going to pay you any
more money for a Vengers in game orring to her
husband now, had I read the article and I read
(01:38:06):
what he said. So her husband, actor and playwright Tracy
Let's said on The Big Picture podcast via People magazine
that money was the reason that she dropped Marvel. He says,
and I quote, I believe Marvel went to her for
a second one and they asked her to be in
the second one. Let's set on the podcast, and she said, well,
the first one is the most successful movie ever made.
(01:38:28):
Are you going to pay me any more money? They said, no,
we're not going to pay you any more money. She said, wow,
you're not going to pay me any more money than
I don't think I'm going to do it. He continued,
and they said, well you should fill yourself fortunate to
be part of the Marvel universe. So she declined, we
would have made a bigger deal out of this, but
it wouldn't have involved us watching the movies, and we
(01:38:50):
weren't going to do that. So my thing with that,
and my question to you is is this this kind
of we feel her type deal because she is an
actor and from everything that I know, actors have to
(01:39:11):
be paid at least a SAG minimum rate. So she
was offered money just from what it sounds like, is
she wanted more than she made the first one. They said, nope,
this is your rate. She took it personally, and now
they're on the They didn't respect us anti Marvel Crusade
(01:39:33):
because even with the line of that would have involved
us watching the movies, and we just don't want to
do that. This just kind of seems like you're just
trying to.
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Paint marble and a bad light. How do you feel
about this?
Speaker 1 (01:39:47):
What I like her in the new season of White Lotus.
I didn't realize until I read the article that she
did Proximate Midnight. Like with everything, this is one side
of the story. I'm not a big mart I'm not
big enough of Marvel Show to say, oh, she's lying
the studio. You know she's not telling the full truth
(01:40:09):
about it. Go Marvel Studios. You know that this is
just someone trying to do that. I believe somewhere in
the middle of the truth lies that either you know.
And that's the problem with contract Sometimes when you write
a contract, at that point, there might have been some
sort of stipulation in there that said, like, this is
it what you're getting If they're in to be which
(01:40:30):
they knew at the time, it's gonna be a follow
up at that point, this is what it is, and
she was within our right to do it. But whatever
in the contract stated, I don't It's one of those
things where I don't think a lawyer and I don't
think they'd have a like to stand on if they
just say no, you're gonna work for free. That's not
how that works. So something in that contract was written
(01:40:51):
that stated it, and she was right to ask for more.
They also had the right to refuse and say that no,
this is our agreed contract, not going to pay you anymore,
right or wrong. I don't agree with necessarily that. I
think that's a really shady way of doing things. So,
like I said, I'm not defending Marvel, I'm just saying
I'm not even playing those app guns, saying this is
(01:41:12):
how sometimes contracts work. And it was one of those
where they gave her a bad deal and they weren't
going to try to change it, and that's unfortunate. You know,
was she going to be integral to the plot? I
don't know. You know, it didn't necessarily appear that any
(01:41:33):
of his minions from the previous one ended up being
really a factor too much in endgame.
Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
Yeah, other than reappearing with the new timeline version of Fantos,
I can't see anything that would have been we need
this character in here, and that's probably what Marvel thought. Again,
we don't know the contract, so it's hard to say
with a definitive answer, who's yes, who's no. If she
(01:42:02):
signed a contract that optioned her for multiple movies, or
if it was just a hey, we want to bring
you and we want to bring you in at the
rate that we had you before and her saying no,
I want more of them saying we don't think you're
worth more. You should just be happy with this rate
and to be happy to be part of Marvel. But
the line of bounce, we would have to watch the
(01:42:26):
movies and everything else, just it screens bitterness to me.
And again I don't we don't know the full details
of the contract. But I also I don't feel like
her character was just so prolific that we needed that
to be a thing.
Speaker 1 (01:42:44):
And like I said, I am, I'm definitely not and
I don't think you are either, David saying that you know,
she's not telling the full truth. At that point, it's
it's actors need to be paid. They need to be
paid what they need to do. That's what part of
the strikes were. They didn't get the perfect deal, but
they got some sort of deal, and this is just bad.
(01:43:04):
Look at that point, that's what they did. But again,
David and I don't know what was in the contract,
so we're I'm not saying her husband is lying. I'm
just saying that there's missing pieces in here before, you know,
before we really right off either side. So right now,
I said, that's interesting. I think there's some truth to
be had in there, but I need to know more.
(01:43:26):
So that's where I'm at right now. I just think
that if part of that is true, that they didn't
want to negotiate and just leave it out there because
of whatever contract. It's within your right. It's just bad form.
It's not how you treat people. But again, this is
as as I've said, Big Daddy's at WB said, this
is not show friends. This is a show business. Like
(01:43:47):
it or not. I don't like it. It's not the
first time, but things need to change and this is
part of the bad behavior of Hollywood at that point.
So but all right, we will see you all next
week for the penultimate episode of Daredevil Born Again and
whatever else news drops. So we will see you next week.
Speaker 2 (01:44:05):
Bye bye, Seah
