I didn't name this recording, butI think which I'm glad we don't do
video, but I know by thevideo I'll know exactly what movie this is.
Cool, I'm looking rough today. You're telling me I don't care though
today Like today, I'm like,it's Sunday. Who am I going to
see in my house? True?Yeah, that's true. I forget it's

(00:24):
Sunday. Maybe I'm kind of gettinga little bit of the Monday scaries now
that I know it's Sunday. Yeah. Yeah. The moment like when you
said Sunday, I was like todaySunday. Welcome to Meet Cute, a
podcast for friends Jennavars and Priscilla Wilsonget together to discuss all things rom coms,

(00:47):
from the classics to the latest releases. We'll be diving deep into the
world of romantic comedies. All right, well, let's chat about today's a
movie. Ghosted, the new ApplePlus movie that just came out this past
Friday at the time of recording, that is Friday, April twenty first.

(01:08):
Hmm. I was really looking forwardto this movie because you know, has
my man Chris Evans, Yes,and I like her Annada Armis. Although
I you know spoiler alert, Idid not like her in this movie.

(01:29):
So I've liked her, I've likedher in other things, but she I
don't know, she wasn't really onin this movie. For me. There
was something lacking. Well I don'tknow her from anything else, Okay,
nothing to compare her to, butI can tell you I she was kind

(01:52):
of bland, Yes, exactly. She was just like I think she was
really trying to tap into her Angelina. Oh my god, what's her name?
Angelina Jolie like a mister Rissus Smith. Yeah, that's right. I
was like, we haven't said hername in so long? Like that really

(02:14):
her name? Um? But herface gave a lot of the energy of
Angelina Jolie doing an action movie oflike I'm this tough girl and you can't
crack me type of thing. AndI mean, of course, kudo's for
inspiration. Angelina Jolie is amazing,But I don't know, I looked a
little like constipated here and we areoff to the races. Here we go,

(02:39):
and the arms is gonna get fuckingdestroyed on this podcast. I'm so
sorry. We will remove the personfrom this particular work of art. How's
that. Um, okay, Sowe start the movie with I remember this.

(03:00):
We see her in the car.She is in the middle of the
woods driving somewhere, which I havequestions, and I wonder if I just
maybe I've only spent a lot oftime in the city area up there,
because I'm like, how are youin the woods? Then end up in
the middle of DC, Like Ineed to know where that happened. Um,

(03:23):
I mean Maryland definitely has those areas, but I haven't spent a lot
of time in the DC area,so I couldn't tell you whereabouts that would
be. I don't know. Atfirst, it was given me like,
um, Pacific Northwest maybe, Yeah, it looked like she was driving,

(03:46):
you know, in Washington or Oregon. Yeah, Twilight yeah yeah. So
I was like, oh, andthen because I remember writing down, I
was like, where's this pharmer's market? Yes that, I was like,
where's this man at my farmer's market? Like, I need to know what

(04:08):
farmer's market. This is where theplant lady goes see it and edible in
the middle of the selling day andthe um, I forget what he sells
is hot? Yeah? What doeshe sell? He's a farmer? He
keeps mentioning it throughout the movie's strongUm, I don't know what he was

(04:32):
selling. It was something plant related, because it was he had those tags.
I remember when looking for the cashbox and it was like plant stuff.
But yeah, I wonder if itsays it here in the plot,
Oh, that would be that wouldbe good. No, it says he's
a charming but romantically needy farmer andbery. He's very needy. He is

(05:01):
so needy. Okay, wait wait, I love it because we recently recorded
with your sisters, and I lovehow they called me out for always saying
not to spoil it or not toget too far ahead, but not to
get too far ahead. We'll getback to him in a second. But

(05:23):
you know, we meet her andshe's got this hair thing going on,
which you were right, Like Itold you. Her hair was so distracting.
You can tell it's a wig.You can tell it's a wig.
I don't know who didn't take careof her better, but it was very
obvious, you know now that nowpiecing it together. No wonder her acting

(05:47):
was so like she couldn't move aheadbecause the wig could fall off anyway.
So so we see her in thecar she gets a call, which we
later find out that's her Boston theCIA, and she basically is like sad,
Why am I saying this without anyempathy at all. Anyways, she's

(06:11):
kind of in her feelings because herroommate died, which spoiler alert, we
later find out she killed her.Yeah, I'm spoiling this movie. It's
just I will say this, it'shard to explain this stuff that was happening
at the beginning of the movie becauseeven when I was watching the movie,
I forgot that she's supposed to belike an agent of some sort. I'm

(06:35):
like, what's happening here? Well, I assumed when she was talking about
like, oh, I barely knewher my coworker. She died. I
assumed because I did remember that she'ssupposed to be the secret agent. I
just assumed it was another agent onher side, like somebody either working the

(06:58):
same mission or working a different mission. She heard that this person died on
the job. I thought it wassomething like that, where, Okay,
this person who is on my side, who works on my same team,
they got killed in the line ofduty, and maybe it's making her think
of things. But then later, when when she reveals like actually she was

(07:24):
the enemy and I killed her.I was like, oh shit, yeah,
and then I think at the endof the movie there's an image of
the roommate dead next to the plant. Yes, with the again spoiler alert,
Yeah, there's it. Just itjust like jumps into it right off

(07:45):
the bat. But they position itin a way like you think that she's
talking to her therapist about some stuff. You have no idea what is what
in the beginning, yeah, Ithought it was therest to actually yeah,
so then they have a back andforward. Basically, the the therapist slash

(08:07):
boss is basically like, don't dono big changes, just get a plant.
Just relax because she's in her feelings. Sadie's in her feelings about it.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Itwas kind of like about the she
died alone, or like she orlike barely anything in the apartment type of
ibe. Just a plant. Oh, that's when she hinted at the plant.

(08:31):
Just a plant. And then herboss therapist was like, just get
a plant, no big changes, deal with this, just get a plant
yourself kind of thing. Yeah. She it was just kind of making her
reflect on I guess how lonely thatkind of life is. You have no
family, don't have a relationship,You're always getting sent off to all these

(08:52):
different places. Sadie doesn't even havea plant to take care of or that's
waiting for her to come home.So she's kind of like in an existential
crisis at this point. Poor girl. But I guess her life was getting
ready to be changed in that directionbecause now we go over to the farmer's

(09:13):
market again. Where are these farmers? I would like to meet them.
Yeah, if there are any farmersthat look like Chris Evans, show yourself,
show up at the Tulsa Farmer's Marketfor real. Where are you?
But we see him and so sweet. He's scattered. He's having to use

(09:35):
this app that are supposed to bethe tiles or air tags for him to
find things. And he's looking forthe cash box because he even loses that
on his stand in his little farmer'smarket stand. And then he gets called
out by some of his farmer's marketvendor buddies about a recent breakup that he

(09:56):
went through and I just need togo deal with it. Another vendor buddy
is like, hey, do youwant to get high? Because she was
gonna go take an edible. Theyalso call him out for being needy and
clear, yes, yes, that'sembarrassing, Like you have you have the

(10:16):
vendors at the farmers market calling youneedy. His family even calls him that
a little later on. Yeah, and he's like, no, no,
I'm not, Like how many peoplegotta tell you you're needy? I have
a note about this for we cantalk through it an hour later. But
like, he's the worst kind ofneedy type of guy in my opinion,

(10:37):
because I have to think if Iwant to leave this here or not.
But an ugly needy guy. It'slike, Okay, you expected, but
you're casting judgment what I look like. I am recording with my hair everywhere

(11:03):
and a robe on my couch AnyWho. But I feel like I'm not only
need a guy you expected, butthen a handsome needy guy. It's almost,
I don't know, it's more itchyto me. Yeah, because then
you're like, who hurt you?Because look at you? You're you're freaking,

(11:26):
You're ripped, you're hot. Iguess successful, Like, from what
I can see externally, you havean easy time in the world, So
why are you like this? Hemust he must have been hurt, yeah,
which I think we later do geta glimpse into like what it is,

(11:48):
which I'm like, okay, still, let's make it you an appointment
with a therapist, because like, okay, let me see if I can
articulate this better. A not sogood looking, needy guy, you have
this sense of I get it.You have to overcompensate for something, and
it might be physical, right right, maybe maybe maybe something like this doesn't

(12:13):
come along very often for another guy, so they're trying to hold on for
your life to it, whereas somebodylike Chris Evans, you just assume women
are fawning over themselves, throwing themselvesat him. So why are you obsessing
over this one person after especially aftera day, you know, which leaves

(12:35):
the question how deep are your issues? And that scares me more. So
that's it. I'm gonna leave itthere. But any who, he um
while his vendor friend that is runningthe plant shop is getting it's taken her
edible, he sees Sadie approach thestand because she's going to go get her

(12:56):
plant, and he says, youknow, how can I help you?
And she's looking for a plant thatit's sort of low maintenance and the one
she had picked out it was verynot low maintenance. So he suggests another
plant, the snake plant. Youonly have to water it once. And

(13:18):
she requests a low maintenance plant becauseshe travels a lot for one. So
he suggests a snake plant, saysyou only have to water every two weeks,
and she goes, what about amonth or two? And so I
forget what happens here, but Ithink this is where he starts to get
hostile a little bit. Yeah,he starts lashing out at her. I

(13:39):
think that this is when he offersup the cactus because he's like, you
don't really need to water it atall. I think he offers out the
cactus when the bendor lady comes back, because she's like, it's just ten
dollars, just take the plant.Who cares? And he's like, I'm
not gonna let you get a plant. Yeah, he gets very uppity out

(14:00):
her wanting flowers. But wait, yeah, yeah, it was like bogonias
or something at first, and thenhe offered the snake plant. He was
just like really getting in her businessand obviously he was upset about something else
and lashing out at her and makingit about if you don't want to give

(14:22):
something attention, why bother getting itanyway? And it turned into this big
thing and they were arguing, Okay, this is something that keeps getting brought
up throughout the movie. They arguewith each other, right, and it

(14:43):
seemed like a legit argument that theywere both very annoyed with one another.
She was like, what is goingon? Your job is to sell me
a plant, Like, you're notsupposed to vet my background on whether or
not I'm capable of handling a plant, Just sell the plant. And on
top of that, this isn't evenin This isn't even your stand And then

(15:05):
he's arguing with her. Obviously it'ssome residual stuff about the breakup. But
then so when his vendor friend comesback, she was like, oh,
I was really hoping that you guyswere going to exchange numbers. And he's
like why, and she's like,oh my god, the sexual tension.
You guys were obviously flirting and he'slike, we were, Okay, you

(15:30):
clearly weren't flirting with her because youdidn't even know, Like it wasn't flirting
on your end. But the sexualtension comment is something that happens a lot
throughout the movie of other people likenear them and either commenting you guys should
get a room, or I thinklike three or four people mentioned like,

(15:54):
oh, the sexual tension is offthe charts. I'm sorry, I did
not catch the sexual tension at allbetween them. It seemed like legit arguing
there didn't seem like there was anythingunder it, at least not from her
him. You can tell that hefinds her attractive. Yes, he might

(16:15):
be annoyed with her or like, you know, say some shit to her,
but you can see the way helooks at her that there is a
little something there behind it. Hernot at all. I do not believe
that she feels anything toward him atall throughout this entire movie. So the

(16:37):
sexual tension comment is something that isvery confusing to me how they're trying to
like play that up a lot.So thank you for articulating that so well,
because you just reminding me of everytime it was like thrown in our
face. And I wonder if thisis the however makes movies way of trying

(17:00):
to Really it's almost like a coverup of like, well, if you
feel their chemistry or not, likeI'm gonna make sure that you can't get
away from everyone else, like you'regonna have to believe everyone else. Like,
as a viewer I in the plantbooth, I actually might note is
it's such a hard time reading theirchemistry at the plant booth. And this

(17:22):
is before the lady even showed upyeah and said, oh my gosh,
like you got like she was alreadyshipping them. I think as a viewer,
I was tricked into believing that theyhad chemistry because of the reminder,
the constant reminder from people they weretrying to shove it down our throatsycheological warfare.

(17:45):
It was definitely supposed to be littlereminder post throughout the movie, like
these two characters are actually in love. They're falling in love. And I'm
like, no, I don't,I know. I'm not buying it.
And again I'm not buying it fromher, especially he was. He was
playing it off pretty well that likehe was very into her. No,

(18:10):
because she still had that whole AngelinaJolie thing going on. She only cared
about the agency type of vibe.So no, I did. I did
not buy it then. So thelady was high obviously, and I kind
of bought it a little bit becauseenough to that, you know, he
goes after her to find her inthe car, and he I love that.

(18:30):
He does the little nineties like rolleddown your window. It was cute,
but I felt the chemistry a littlebit then because now it's it's on
the table. He's like, Ithought I read this, and she kind
of you know, she beats thehorn to because he like leaves. He's
like, oh wow, I misreadthis. She beats her horn to call
him back, And sure, yeah, I can ship a little bit of

(18:51):
that there, but it wasn't enoughto carry them even Oh my god,
this this entire conversation that we havetoday is gonna seem like I'm like,
I hate Anna da armist and Idon't hm like even her giggling with him

(19:12):
in the car. It sounded fake, like girl, do you yeah,
do you like this dude or not? Because it really doesn't seem like you
like him, Like the even thegiggling sounded like I agree, like there
was nothing there. She was likedead, there's nothing. Again, We're

(19:33):
gonna separate the actress from this particularwork of art because I cannot judge her
for other things. Right now,I'm trying to be fair. But this
whole vibe in this movie was not. It was not it that was too
hard to his soft. No,I don't know how to explain it,
Like it was just too too muchopposite. Yeah, yeah, because she's

(19:57):
she's definitely supposed to have this toughexterior, like she lives this secret life,
and he's very yes he's needy, but like he seems very hopeless romantic,
like he just wants to find hisperson and live his life. And
so yeah, very two different extremesfor sure. And it wasn't It wasn't

(20:21):
blended. Well, at least didn'tfeel like it, I will say,
though she did. She does tellhim to get in the car because she's
like, we could go. Hehad asked her out she declined or no,
I don't know, maybe she declined. I don't. I don't remember
how that went down. No,he did. He did say can I
take you out some time? Andshe was like are you serious? Okay,
so she was like yeah, whichis like, girl, really that's

(20:41):
a hot farmer. What are youtalking about? But then she um,
you know, when she calls himback, she says, I could go
for some coffee. She tells himto get in I'm gonna tell you though,
somehow I was totally okay with hertelling her stranger to get in the
car. I was okay with that. Is that is wrong because we'd established

(21:03):
this man it's not psychologically all there. Um, I don't know. I
think I need to talk to mytherapist about that. I cannot be okay
with this man telling me to getin or telling him to get in my
car. He just I mean,I'm guessing that she just reads him as

(21:26):
he's harmless. M M. I'msure she also knows she can kill him
right right about. She can totallyoverpower him most likely. But he doesn't
have like sinister vibes, you know, he seems very genuine and Yeah,
but see, I feel like thetype of guy he is, Like he's

(21:48):
cute and needy. He's gonna snap, I feel well, he already did.
Technically he snapped on her about theabout the plants. There it is
and that was PG girl, thatwas PG. And he snapped over the
plant. He wanted to give hera cactus like that is a dangerous plant,

(22:11):
right, like you can prick yourself. So and they do weaponize it.
Yeah later in the movie. Yeah, so I don't know. I
just he could snap us. AllI'm gonna say, well, he's he's
very charming. His character's very charming, and Chris Evans in general, it's
just very charming and hot. Andso of course, of course she invited

(22:34):
him to go out to coffee, and coffee ended up being like a day
long thing. Although, Okay, she changes her outfit, right, she's
wearing a different dress at some point. I think I don't think she is.
I think she just takes off herblazer. Okay, because I I

(22:57):
think it's when they're in the museum, him or something like that. They're
indoors and she's not. She's notwearing the jacket that she was wearing,
but the dress looked different. MaybeI just didn't get a good look at
the dress under the jacket, butit seemed like she had changed clothes,
and I was like, when didyou go and change clothes? But either

(23:19):
way, like they they're kind ofjust exploring different areas of DC, going
to museums, walking along the canalum. Something that I thought was surprisingly
cute was like him him racing herup the stairs. But then but then

(23:42):
he like he takes the thing ofwhy because listen. I'm biased because I
love Chris Evans, so maybe ifit were a different dude, I'd be
like, this is so stupid. But he takes a swig of his inhaler.

(24:04):
He can't have that bad of anasthma condition, because I don't see
this man dying for breath at anyother point of this movie. No,
he's very fit. He runs veryfreaking fast. I don't believe it.

(24:26):
He only brings up the inhaler atthe beginning of a movie. I never
see the inhaler again. No,And the whole reason, his whole excuse,
his whole excuse. I was gonnakind of jump ahead, but I'm
not gonna bulge and just yet.Um, but so this, okay,

(24:52):
let's go back to the scene.Because I should have known you were going
to find it cute. Why whydo you think that number one? I
think I think it was because ofhim. I don't know something about how
charming he was getting ready to dothis little raise that just feels like you
would find that cute, which Iagree. Yes, However, I was

(25:14):
already put off by the beginning ofthis part because he just puts all his
stuff in this woman's bag that hejust met and they're about to raise I'm
sorry my trust his shoes are like, because what if she just takes off
with all my stuff and then sherobs me? And this whole thing was

(25:37):
just hard trying to rob me,but also like you can't run with an
inhaler and like keys in your pocket. Now you put everything in this girl's
backpack, so she's caring even more. Oh, I didn't even see it
that way. Mmmmmmm. Maybe itwas a strategy, which it's interesting you

(25:59):
just s meant the girl like,I just that whole thing was just which
I get it, because that's whatwe use then to no, not pulling
a gen, but that later we'llbring them back together. So I get
that part. I just I don'tknow. I just felt like it was
maybe too soon for him to justput all his stuff. But I don't

(26:22):
know. Maybe people go through lifeputting their stuff in other people's bags that
they're getting ready to race. Idon't know, And that's fine if people
do that. I just my stuffstay with me. Yeah, I definitely
wouldn't be putting things like that insomebody's bag. No. But here's the

(26:42):
other reason why this scene is stupid. Okay, I said what I said,
This sped up little feet going upthe stairs as they're running, and
like somehow he's ahead. But thenit's like no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, she's ahead. It's like
you don't even have to show methat. I get she's an agent.
Like, right, that was silly, silly. That was a waste of

(27:04):
money that okay, this movie.Let's see what was the budget for this
movie? That was They could havesaved like a couple hundred dollars on that
part right there. It was notgood even him. Okay, So first
of all, when he when hesays, I'll race you to the top

(27:30):
of the stairs if I win,I think she had to tell him something
about herself, like what it isthat she's afraid of, like getting really
deep, and like you see thestairs, but it's not until they're racing
that you really see the kind ofstaircase it is. It's insane and it's

(27:52):
really and it goes on forever. So him, as somebody who allegedly has
asthma, it took him pretty longto get winded. And even when he
did, I didn't believe he wasactually in danger. He is too fit
to play this kind of character offbecause even later in the movie he's fighting,

(28:18):
he's running. I fully believe ifyou told me Chris Evans in real
life could fight like that, I'dbe like, I believe you. He
just he doesn't move like an asthmaticperson. So it was just really hard
to believe. I know it's amovie. I know it's a movie.

(28:40):
You're just supposed to suspend your disbeliefall the time, but not in this
podcast. I'm with you, Priscilla, And I think a better rewrite would
have been because he used all theselittle tiles. A better rewrite would have
been for him to just leave anythingelse. Yeah, his keys, um,

(29:03):
I don't know his card, wallet, I don't know something. But
they had to write in you knowwhat, And now I'm mad at the
movie actually because they had to writein this, like there's a live reason
why he has to go find herbecause she has his in hailer, No,
you can just go to the pharmacyand get another one, thank you,

(29:25):
And you don't have a backup oneexactly. That's why I'm saying this
asthma that he claims he has itis not anything. It's probably seasonal.
It's not an ongoing condition and threatto his life because look at everything he
did without having an asthma attack.I'm gonna I'm gonna say this right here

(29:47):
on the record, Rhet, Paul, Chris and Eric should have written this
better. We did not need himto have asthma because then you messed it
up. You obviously didn't do yourresearch. Because again being Hailer, you're
right, he was like at onepoint spoiler alert, gen moment, call
it what it is, but hewas at one point suspended from a moving

(30:11):
vehicle, um over, like, yeah, the edge of a mountain thing,
that's a lot, Like, that'sa lot of work. Did like
do that while then this vehicle's movinglike there's a lot of fix it physics
involved. And he didn't need hisinhaler then, and he was running a
lot. He was running a lotand like running hard. He's fine,

(30:32):
he's filling up. Yeah. No, no, so Brett, Paul,
Chris, and Eric, please nexttime, do your research make him lose
something else. I mean, theman was going to go after her anyway.
We've established he's needy. He didn'tneed his inhaler as an excuse.
Oh no, I'm upset anyway, they keep on talking. They have they

(30:53):
have a whole like full day dateagain. You know, they spend all
this time together. They go toall these different places, conversation just keeps
going. They get something to eat, then they go out to karaoke where

(31:14):
she does karaoke. She puts hisname down and he's like begging her.
He doesn't want to do it.All my notes after this, by the
way, it's just like this startedquickly. This day, like this was
a lot. I mean, theyreally wanted us to feel like they had
a whole ten year relationship in aday. I had that they're supposed to

(31:36):
have like this crazy connection. Yep. And they're playing with our emotions again.
And then they you know, theykiss a few times and no sparks.
Am I crazy? I was like, I mean, nope, you're
not crazy. I didn't feel anything. Yeah, like I don't know.

(32:00):
They you know, they kissed afew times and it was whatever. But
it wasn't like it. It wasn'ttelling me that there was like all this
passion and all that. And sohe walks her to her house and they
say good night, good morning, whatever, because it's already the next day

(32:22):
and she goes into her house. She doesn't invite him in, and he's
standing on the porch like wondering ifhe should go back, and I guess
invite himself in or something. Andshe's on the other side trying to talk
herself out of it, say, don't make big moves. Don't make big
moves. She opens the door. They embrace, and they're going to town

(32:46):
on each other. They have aone night stand or whatever. Okay,
this man took a freaking selfie inbed after they were done, and she
fell asleep on him. If thisman was ugly exactly, Benson would have

(33:14):
been chasing his ass. I wouldhave kicked his ugly face in. But
it's Chris Evans, and you're like, oh, he looks so happy.
Like, no, that that wasproblematic. When when his sister picks up
his phone, he goes back hometo his family's farm, and he's like,

(33:36):
I think she's the one, likealready talking her up to his parents,
which come on and and the sistersnot having any of it. She's
like, you're crazy, m Andthen she looks at his phone and sees
his most recently taken photo and it'sthat that's insane. Yeah, and she

(34:00):
calls him on it, and hedoesn't see anything wrong with it. He's
like, I'm just trying to preservea moment, like you serious killer?
No, No, I mean evenif I was awake and he's like,
hey, do you want to takea selfie? I mean at that point
and be like, yo, getout because I'm about to kill you because
I think you're gonna kill me first. So they're fried to kill you first,

(34:22):
my goodness. But she was asleep. And somehow his parents like did
not make a bigger deal out ofthis either. No, they were like
they were egging him on. Theywere encouraging him. They were encouraging his
whole romantic fantasy that he had playingout in his head. See, the

(34:44):
writers really wanted us to feel likethis romantic thing. And like, you
know, his parents are chipping itright. It's almost like they know that
she's the one. You know,Oh honey, your son got issues?
Are there any cold bass in yourtown? Like, I'm sorry, it
was not a good look. No, And and they they all kind of

(35:10):
call him on the fact that he'sthis needy, clingy person. His sister's
a little bit more aggressive about it. His parents seem to be a bit
more gentle with that assessment of him, and then just kind of brush it
aside. Is, but you're hopelessromantic, you always have been. That's

(35:31):
what they're chalking it up to.While the sister's like, no, it's
creepy. M there's a there's aI wouldn't even say there's a thin line
between hopeless or man. Think ofwhat he was. There's not a thin
line. It's a very thick dividingline. Like no, no. Then
then you know they kind of showthe video or the view of his phone

(35:52):
and all the messages he sent her, and I mean, honey, no
wonder you got ghosted? You werecut at that point, like okay,
yeah, the girl should you knowus as the girl, we should we
should be able to say, hey, this is a little much. You
know, this is not gonna work. I don't, don't. This is
just not gonna work. It's alittle extreme or intense for me whatever.

(36:14):
It is obviously more diplomatically than that, but I feel like he was so
intense that he didn't almost give hera chance to like even put a thought
together to say, hey, wehad a fun time, but like this
is a little more than I canhandle right now. And to be fair,
she didn't answer him because she gotshipped off to whatever mission was happening.

(36:40):
She's not gonna I'd be more pissedat the fact that my phone keeps
going off and I need to besneaky. You're gonna blow my cover,
so I'm giving it. Like, and it was just the next morning,
right, just the next morning, just the next morning, and he's like
sending her text and then says thatemojis don't count, which they do count

(37:06):
if it's a text, would yousay a lot? Yeah, so's he
sent her all this stuff. Shegoes away on this mission. Obviously,
he has no idea who she is, so he's you know, jumping at
every little noise that his phone ismaking. He gets a call, He's

(37:27):
like, Sadie, and in mymind, I'm like, you would see
her name pop up on your callor I d you know it's not her.
So he's like waiting for her toanswer back. She's not answering back.
The sister says, she ghosted youbecause you came on too strong,
and he's like, no, no, that's not it. She's busy,
she's what's the job that she toldher she's an art curator. That's why

(37:50):
she travels all the time. Yeah, yeah, which then you know,
we have this one scene where hehe's realizing he's he needs to take a
hit off his scuba. It's whathis dad called it, which is again
how we are alled to believe thatthis is a very important thing. It's
his inhaler and he doesn't have it, but he has a tracker on it.

(38:15):
Fabulous when he pulls up a trackerhis scuba is in London. It
was a little quick for me forthem to just be like, oh,
yeah, just go, I'm notI'm His parents seem very like hippie,
like very I don't know, Idon't know how else to describe it.

(38:39):
Besides like very like hippie, gowith the flow. They're very supportive of
this whole thing. He apparently wassupposed to go somewhere for spring break when
he graduated high school college. Idon't remember which one, but I was
after a graduation. Yes, sohe was supposed to go. I think

(39:01):
maybe it was college. He graduatedcollege, was supposed to go off and
travel a bunch after graduation and endedup canceling it. Oh no, he
gave his seat. He gave hisseat up for somebody and took the voucher
and apparently that voucher was still inworking order. Yeah, okay, so

(39:24):
that he could he could cash itin for a ticket to London. He's
going to make this big romantic gestureto this girl that he only spent one
day with, and his parents aresuper supportive of that. My parents would
never I'm so annoyed. Yeah,my mom would never. My mom would

(39:47):
be like, oh, you're justgonna serve yourself up on the platter to
this serial killer. He's going tokill you. No. No, he's
never left the country and just himgo out by himself. He doesn't even
have a hotel, I don't think. Because when he gets to London and

(40:10):
he's talking to the taxi driver, who's like, oh he is giving him
the good old UK. Yeah, those of reality, yeah, like,
oh, she's an art curator, but she doesn't have an international plan.
Because that's that was his parents' skew. That's to why he couldn't she couldn't
text him back maybe yeah, okay, Yeah. The driver just kind of

(40:34):
drops him off in the middle ofthe street by the Tower Bridge because that's
where the that's where the tracker istelling him that the that the inhaler is
at. And he's just walking aroundLondon with his luggage and everything and just
kind of oh the luggage, Yeah, yep, he is searching for his

(40:58):
little tag forres in hailer. Yeah, he's starting to walk towards towards the
Tower Bridge. He goes into thetunnel, see's a shady looking guy.
Then tries to like playoffs like I'mgoing to double back and head back the
other way, and then these otherguys come out of the shadows, grab

(41:19):
him, knock him out, andhe wakes up bound to a chair with
all these these dudes surrounding him,and then all these tanks of like bugs
and repedip I would have passed awayright then and there, And that's you
didn't even need a torture. Wedon't need to torture me, especially when

(41:42):
the one guy, so they takehim because they think he is this person
called the taxman and a bunch ofbounty hunters or after this person called the
taxman. Obviously he's not it.He's just a farmer. Um. But
you later find out that the Taxmanis actually her. That's her um.

(42:07):
I guess her her nickname or whatever. Um, So they think it's him.
They think it's literally a guy.So they're going to torture him for
some passcode for for this biological weaponthat they need access to that cannot be

(42:27):
accessed without a pass code. Theythink he has the past passcode. So
they're going to torture him with allthese bugs that they have, like that
have different painful stings or bites. They're going to start out with the murder
hornet. I saw them pull outthe murder hornet, and I like,
I could feel my shoulders go up, Like how his due in the in

(42:52):
the seat, the sound of thosewings. Oh no, yeah, I'd
be dead before it even touched me. I'll say this here, which I
probably will continue to say throughout themovie, but like at that moment,
if I survive this, I amnever talking to this other person again.

(43:15):
Like if I'm I'm never talking tothat man again. That man is bad
news. I am over him.I've been cured from whatever neediness whatever.
Again, if my life is indanger like that with insects, I know
he's not the man for me.He's just not. The Lord has revealed

(43:35):
it. He is not the manfor me. I, oh my gosh.
And then they show the cactus, like he brought the cactus, which
again goes back to like, boy, calm down. He's doing a lot,
like I get that it is supposedto be like objectively romantic, I

(43:57):
guess, but it's just a lot. And so before the murder Hornet can
get at him, and it's likeright there, the wall blows up.
She comes in. She has amask on, so he doesn't know right
away. She's got her hat andlike a mask. She's shooting these dudes
left and right, fight in andthen she asks him if he if he's

(44:22):
okay, if he can get upand walk or something, and she pulls
her mask down and he's obviously surprisedto see her. This entire exchange between
them when she's when she comes insaves him, she asks him if he
can shoot a gun all this stuff. She rolls her eyes so many times

(44:44):
at him. And while yes,it's creepy that he came all the way
here to find you and see you, at the same time, you're acting
really annoyed with him for not beinga CIA operative who knows how to fight
and do all the things you dolike, you can't get mad at someone
for panicking, for not knowing howto handle these kind of people, because

(45:07):
he's a normal person. She thatwas annoying to me, like just her
whole like her whole attitude towards himis basically, I'm pissed at you because
you don't know how to kill people. Right, You would think she was
trying to handle people like this, right, you would think or to be

(45:31):
able to get them out of harm'sway and not like hold it against them,
you know what I mean? Yeah, exactly, exactly like you should
be trying to deal with to civilians. But somehow, Angelina Julie, I
mean, I don't forgot. I'mgonna say this one thing because this this

(45:52):
scene here and then obviously finding outbecause when they were in this long day,
he's like, he said that he'strying old the world a lie.
Yeah, he's and lied a littlebit to make himself look more interesting.
Big lie energy. So then sheasked him, right, do you know
how to shoot a gun? Andhe just says yes, which later he

(46:15):
says at Tin Cam's not at people, I can, I can this man,
there's something so fundamentally not okay,Like though quick that lies come out
and the technicalities I've always again andthis is like a like a thing like
dohen people have technicalities in their storylike oh I didn't do that because technically,

(46:38):
you know, you know, youshould have done something different. So
like yeah, at Tin Cam's sorry, you know you should have answered that
question better when she asked you thatin that moment. Yeah, if someone
that you just witnessed shoot a bunchof dudes asks you can you shoot a
gun? What do you think she'sasking you? Really to think you there?

(47:00):
It is? There, it isshe is asking you if you can
kill someone with this gun, sir. So again it's it's the lies and
the technicalities and not the whole storythat just it's sad that this is Chris
Evans because like so cute like this, like this guy's personality overall without this
stuff would be so adorable, butlike so creepy, Like there's something fundamentally

(47:25):
that needs a lot of help here. But anyhow, Yeah, I mean
you're getting shot at do you reallyneed to impress this girl or like make
yourself seem like you know how todo things that you clearly don't know how
to do. Like now is notthe time. No, now is not
the time to exaggerate certain things. No, they get out of this thing

(47:51):
right which which, Oh my gosh, the whole scene I was at the
edge of my seat because I'm like, oh, the cave. Yeah,
like the shooting and the fighting andthe thing. I'm like, oh,
what movie am I watching? Thisis fun? So that was really fun.
Then then they get they get out, and once they get out of
the cave, he's obviously hit withthis beautiful landscape that he's never seen before,

(48:15):
and we find out they're in Pakistan. When I saw that, I
was like, what the way?If you tell me, Okay, if
I'm him, you tell me,I've just did this big romantic gesture again,
take away all the creepy stuff. For whatever reason. I just did
this beautiful romantic gesture. And Iwake up with insects. I somehow survived

(48:40):
that. But then I wake upagain or like realize again, and then
you tell me like, oh,yeah, you're in Pakistan. That's when
I die. That's when I droppeddead right there. I'd be so scared
because now I'm like, how didI get here? Ye? No,
like air control, notice that likean American got taken out of London to

(49:00):
go to Pakiston, Like, whatis happening? Like, what happened?
What happened in the time that Iwas knocked out that got me here?
What happened? Yeah? I couldhave died, That's what I'm saying.
I would have dropped at that moment, because like this is destiny at this
point anyway. So but then thenthere's people coming at them, shooting at

(49:24):
them because they've obviously realized there wasan alarm that went off in the cave
and everything, and they've been compromised. And then they start shooting the car
that they're walking to to get awayor their getaway car. So then I'm
now not remembering how they found thebus. Were they running? No,

(49:45):
they were going down the hills,Yeah they were. They kept they kept
sliding off the side and going downfor like down and down the mountain.
I have a note here at thebeginning, he stumbles and he doesn't know
how to go down or go I'llgo down, go down the mountain,
and it's like, yeah, yeah, cool. But he's also a farmer.

(50:07):
He's not stupid. I'm sure he'sdone this before maybe, But also
but also there is a scene wherehe does the exact same move as her
going down the mountain. Oh,he picks it up so quick. I'm
sorry I slide. He stumbled thefirst time, and then he did it
perfectly all the other times. WhatI'm saying like, if you would have

(50:30):
just given me average like, oh, yeah, this guy has rolled down
a few hails you Hay Hills orsomething in his lifetime. Cool, But
now you're first you're telling me,Oh my gosh, she's never rolled down
at anything, and now he's gotthe little foot action and the leg action.
I would have I would have tumbleddown the entire time. Oh.
I would have gotten down there beforeher. No stops just rolling down.

(50:57):
She would have had to pick me. She would had to pick me up.
The bus at the end of becausethere's no stopping at all. Nope.
Um. But then they find abus and poor you know that they
poor people. They get kicked outof their bus, and then but people

(51:17):
are coming towards them, facing them. Yeah, it's it's a whole crazy
chase scene where she's driving the busbackwards. That bus is flimsy, pieces
of it are breaking off left andright. The bus chase scene goes on
for a while, yes, toolong, too long, and they're arguing

(51:42):
but also fighting all these guys thatjust keep coming, and he's like hanging
on for dear life on the pieceof bus that he tried to grab,
and then it's hanging over the cliffas she's driving, and then she does
something to make him come. Butit's a whole lot of craziness. Can
I say this movie has a lotof CGI? Yes, has a lot,

(52:10):
like an uncomfortably large amount of CGI. And like you can tell even
even when they are done with thebus chase scene and they fight off all
these dudes and somehow they're still aliveand they make it safely to a more

(52:34):
calmer location. When they get ina car, it still looks fake around
them where they're where they're driving. You can tell that they are like they're
in a car, but everything isgreen screen. They must have done green
screen throughout this whole entire movie.Nothing. You're right, I want to
be like, where's are you guysat any locations? Because everything looked really

(52:57):
fake in this movie. I haveto agree, And I think this is
why I have such a problem withthe length of this movie, because you
could have done all that without havingto make those like there's there's specific scenes
like that, like the cave, like the bus and later on too,
like that didn't need to go onfor so long, Like I get it

(53:19):
in real life, sure, likeI go on for a while, but
I'm trying to watch a movie andyou also have like I don't know,
I don't know, I just feellike know your audience, right, Like
I guess it's like a rom comadventure movie, but still like too much.
I think it was too much. And I had a problem with the
length of the movie because halfway throughit, I was like, whoa,
I'm only halfway through this. Yeah. Yeah, it definitely went on longer

(53:43):
than it probably should have, Ithink. I think, I bet you
they were just trying to market thisas a rom com, maybe for guys
maybe, but because you have youknow, this beautiful and the armists like
men just love her and she isvery sexy, and then you have Chris

(54:07):
Evans and then you have all thisaction. It doesn't like it, don't.
You're right, it doesn't seem veryrom COMI like how we think of
rom coms. It's definitely more actione Cia Spy, which is fine.
I like those kind of movies, but I think this is what they were

(54:30):
trying to make it more of cool. But it also was written by a
bunch of men, So I thinkyou're right because like they did want to
It's almost like they wanted to tapinto this market but still keep it very
true to themselves and I'm proud ofthem for that. But it sucked.
It sucked. I again, Ithink the bus was probably my favorite out

(54:54):
of all the big action stuff thathappened in the movie. I was actually
looking on my notes and as aclarify, it wasn't the cave thing.
It was the bust one that Iwas like, oh when it ended,
I was kind of like, oh, that just happened. So that was
a cool thing, but it wasfine, Like I was, I would
have been ready for resolution after that. Yeah. I think there's a scene

(55:17):
here that happens where there was oneguy that's kind of still half alive in
the cave and the main guy, which I'm not going to pronounce his name,
the main played by Adrian Brody. He was like, I don't know,
doing his whole villain thing where they'relike saying things that are very like

(55:40):
have a lot of deaths, orwhatever, and then he like brings out
these like killer ants and and basicallythrows him on the guy that's like half
dead, half alife, who likedidn't have much to do. He was
just a guy working for these people. I had to fast forward through that
part. I don't know if itwas just my vibe or something, but

(56:02):
I was not ready to see thatlevel of like goryiness. And it wasn't
even gory, but I just knewin my head it was gory. Yeah,
I mean, I wasn't ready tomentally know that was happening. Yeah,
they did a number on his face, so yeah, so I fast
forward it so I have no ideawhat he was like to blame you.

(56:23):
I don't like bugs at all,And seeing that, I was like,
so again, they could have savedmoney in time if they would have just
removed that part. We didn't needto We get it. He's a killer.
He's an arms dealer. Like trustme, this is in the first
movie where there's an arms dealer ora killer. Like, we get it.
He is out to kill. Wedidn't have to be proven that he

(56:45):
was out to kill anyway. Idigress. I'm sorry. I have a
very I think This is going tobe a theme as we continue. I
have a very strong emotion against thelength of this movie and the things that
they could have done. The safemoney and I don't know, it wasn't
even my money, but I'm justI feel personally attacked. Something that I

(57:07):
was thinking while watching this movie wasI was very surprised that both of the
actors of the lead roles, soChris Evans and Anna, I'm just surprised
that they were like okay with thismovie because it was just there was nothing

(57:28):
spectacular about it. The writing wasnot great, the plot was kind of
crazy. I'm surprised that a theydid this movie and b that they were
like they were fine with the finalproduct. And I think I think she
and him both were producers on thisas well, so it was like,

(57:50):
you're throwing your money behind this too. It looks like he was, Yeah,
because it's a bunch of men maybeone woman or two woman. Sorry,
Yeah, So I just I thoughta few times, I'm surprised that
they were okay with this. RememberI've said this now a bunch of times,

(58:10):
especially when we review these new movies. There's something post pandemic and I'm
not this is the thing. Ican't even I don't even have the credentials
to say this. So I'm justsaying that because I feel like it.
I've been giving a platform and nowI can say it. I don't care.
There's post pandemic, Like even actorsare in the same vibe as us,
where it's like, I'm going todo things that are fulfilling. I'm

(58:31):
gonna do things that I that Ihave fun with, right, because like
all these new movies, I'm like, what is happening? Why are we
agreeing to these things? Yeah,I feel like if you tell me,
oh, yeah, this is youryou know, if I'm Chris Evan's like,
oh yeah, that's my character.Oh yeah, and the reason is
is Inhaler. And then I'm like, but the Inhaler doesn't come back.

(58:53):
But whatever, I don't know,especially if you're putting money. I mean,
he obviously had to say right,And you know what again, for
people who know me, They're maybe gonna chalk this statement up to the
fact that I'm in love with thisman. But I don't think that he

(59:15):
did a bad job act Like,I think he played his character. Well.
I'm not saying that that it waslike this great role for him.
I think he did well. Idon't think she did well. No,
And they've done a couple other moviestogether, and I really enjoyed those other

(59:37):
two movies, like they were greatin Knives Out together, And it's interesting
to me that in this particular moviewhere they have to play romantic interest,
that it just did not drive well. It was like their dynamic. I
didn't really like it. I didn'tbelieve it. I'm with you, I'm

(01:00:00):
with you. I think I thinkoverall he was probably my favorite because I
think he played his character very trueto the character, and I bought it.
Her again, we've discussed Angelina Joliething. I'm like, what's happening
again? I have not seen her. I have to stop repeating this,
which is I want to give thedisclaimer. I'm not seen her in anything

(01:00:22):
else, so I don't know.But I was just like, a poor
girl, this was not it foryou. But AnyWho, you know what
I keep thinking about now ever sinceyou said it was her her performance and
her like body movement where she can'tlike she seems very rigid, because yeah,
and now that's all I can thinkabout. But but it's true she

(01:00:44):
has this vibe of like I canonly move if I'm fighting. You know,
It's like, okay, but youcan't. You know, you can't
move like a normal person. Butif you're fighting, you can move.
Okay, I have to let itgo. I'm sorry. Honestly, this
movie like did something something a lotof Yeah. Well okay. So now

(01:01:05):
we're in the farmer's market of Pakistan. Because she makes a joke about it.
She's like, it's like your farmer'smarket, and she is looking for
someone that could help specifically get himback to safety. He's like, you
don't need to be here. Yougotta go. So she goes up to
this club. She says something inin in the language, and the man

(01:01:27):
that comes out her is her exfor like five months. I think she
said. This guy was a wholevibe of whole mood. He was so
adorable, so funny that just hejust was like his timing, I think
his timing was really fun um AndI loved his joke because we find out
that he's missing hand. Yes,because she kind of leaves she left him

(01:01:52):
to hand cut off. Yeah, because her mantra is mission over something.
I forget what man? Yeah,So and he understood that. Again,
they're both in the same work,so he's not upset that he's missing in
his hand. He's just upset thathe can't jack off anymore, which I
thought was so funny. I willsay around this part because I made a

(01:02:15):
note about it, and I thinkthis is obvious, so I'm just really
staying in the obvious. I waslike, this is going to have a
sloppy ending. It's just going toso the like I said, the plot
line, the way this story movesis very all over the place, and

(01:02:35):
I think this is the part whereI like looked at the time and said,
oh my gosh, there's a stillan hour left, and I know
it, and I already know it'sgonna have a sloppy ending, and I
just have to still sit through thishour of this movie. Yeah, this
whole part after you meet the exboyfriend, I think his name is Marco,
and he is basically warning Coal, like, not a good idea to

(01:03:00):
be this chick's boyfriend, because shewill leave you for dead if it if
push comes to shove and it's thesuccess of her mission over your life or
you being like really badly injured orsomething. She's going to pick the mission,

(01:03:20):
and so you know, Cole isvery disappointed because he is thinking this
entire time, her busting into thecave was her, like her objective was
to save him, and he findsout like, no, I didn't come
here to save you, Like, yes, I saved you, but like

(01:03:44):
I was doing something else. Sohe's pissed because he sees her as this
very cold person and it kind ofbrings back the feelings of like when they
first met at the farmer's market andhe kind of lashes out at her about
the whole thing, like his unhealedself is coming out and this whole part

(01:04:08):
where all these bounty hunters are comingto find them and they you know,
it was pretty funny, Like Ithought it was funny, like it was
like one bounty hunter after the otherafter the other. I thank Christmas friends.
Yes, So I really loved allthe cameos that happened in the movie,

(01:04:30):
like throughout the movie, but thisone in particular was really cute for
my Marvel loving self because it broughthim and Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie all
together again. Even though it wasvery brief, it was still pretty cool
to see them all on the screentogether again. So that was my geek

(01:04:55):
my geek out moment to Charlie. No, I, um, I figured
you would see. I recognize thembecause I've seen the major Avenger movies,
so I recognized them, and Ithought, oh, my gosh, that's
so cute he brought his friends backtogether because correct me if I'm wrong.

(01:05:17):
In the storyline as I have nowknown it, Captain American as we know
him doesn't come back technically, yeah, he's he's dead, so he doesn't
get to play with his friends. No, that this new phase of Marvel,
Chris Evans as Captain America is nota thing anymore, and it's been

(01:05:39):
passed on to Anthony Mackie, whoplays the Falcon in the in the Marvel
movies, and then Bucky who's SebastianStand. He's with the Falcon and like
partners with him. They had thatDisney Plus show, which was really good
by the way. But yeah,Chris Evans is no longer in any of

(01:06:01):
those like his his character's done andnow it's for like the next phase.
Yeah, I recognize that, andI thought, oh, that's so sweet.
You know again, when you're payingfor part of the Bill, you
can bring your friends right right exactly. So like he he and Sadie with

(01:06:24):
all this like back and forth bountyhunter thing, they're able to kind of
escape all these people coming after them, at least in that area that night,
you know. And they are drivingin the car again it looks so
it looks so fake. It looksso fake. But they're in the car

(01:06:46):
kind of arguing again, just arguingabout how they're both liars. Right,
he lied about being a world traveler, she lied about this, blah blah
blah, back and forth. Andthen they're kind of trying to come up
with a plan on how to dealwith this this other guy, Adrian Brody.

(01:07:09):
I don't know how to say hisname either. Um oh, I
think it's yeah, yeah, it'sl l e v e que. So
I think it was lavec. Yeah. Okay. So so they're coming up
with trying to come up with aplan on like how to get this bioweapon

(01:07:32):
away from this guy. He obviouslycan't do anything with it because he doesn't
have the pass code. Sadie findsout, Okay, we're kind of in
a good place right now because hedoesn't have the pass code. Obviously,
he's looking for it because he's askingChris Evans because he thinks that he has

(01:07:55):
it, So she kinda she tellshim right about the story of her killing
that woman that she was talking aboutin the beginning of the movie, and
the woman dying had the passcode, but Sadie doesn't have the passcode because the

(01:08:15):
chick died, so she doesn't havethe passcode either. So now they're going
to have to try to play itoff like they do in order to get
this bioweapon away from this guy.So she's like, do you trust me?
And he's like, are you fuckingkidding me right now? And she
knocks him out and ties him up, gags him, puts him in the
trunk, and kind of delivers himto these guys, and she's trying to

(01:08:40):
play it off like she's a bountyhunter. She found this guy and she
wants to get paid and all thatstuff. So they go on an airplane.
He's still tied up. She's therewith him. They're planning on double
crossing her. Once the briefcase isopen, they're gonna kill her. They're

(01:09:00):
gonna kill him the whole thing.A whole fight breaks out on this plane
and this is the this is thepoint where in my head I'm thinking,
I feel like Chris Evans actually knowshow to fight like this. And maybe
it's not just the Marvel training andstuff. Like if you said to me,

(01:09:24):
he can actually do all this shit, I'd be like, I believe
it because it looks real as hell. He just I don't know. And
she she's not bad either, butlike it seems it looks more natural to
him. And maybe that's also allthe Marvel movies, like training, all
the training, Like, maybe that'swhy it looks so much more natural for
him. But a whole whole lastfight breaks out. She gets stabbed,

(01:09:50):
and he does a very brave thing, grabs her, grabs the case and
opens the plane door. He's neverdone this before. No, he's never
done this before. I'm not entirelysure I would have the balls to do
it. No, I would assumeadrenaline. But also just like I cannot

(01:10:12):
just tell you I was bored withthis pot, with this whole thing,
the whole plane, the whole I'llcome to see the mast abounding hunter,
or the whole plane, the wholelanding, the whole them coming back when
they're in the island, Like didnot. I didn't need that. I
didn't need it at all. Helooked good, Yeah, looked good.
He did. He looked good. That was all I enjoyed because everything else

(01:10:33):
was like okay, yeah, huh, but that's the But that's the issue
that we were talking about with likethe timing and the pacing of the movie,
and like, what the hell ishappening? I feel like the writers
had I feel like they wanted todo a bunch of stuff and they were
just making it happen. They wereforcing it all to happen. Um I

(01:10:56):
was. I was so bored withthis part, so bored it. I
wanted the whole thing to be overdone. Once you see them on the
island. So like I guess heparachuted in to some random island. They
found him. They found because heused to parachute as a tent. Yeah,

(01:11:16):
he used the parachute. Made itinto like a little shelter for them.
He's helping her heel from her stabbing. She turns on a little um
like a tracking device so that theUS government can find her and rescue them.

(01:11:38):
And so it's basically a race betweenlike the Marines and these bad guys
coming at them. Yeah. Like, from that point on, I was
basically like, Oh my god,how much longer? How much longer is
this movie? And the writers triedright because in the plane, um,

(01:11:58):
she sort of hints at him tolet leave her and take the suitcase or
the briefcase and and go and jumpoff because mission over man kind of thing.
And then at the beach again whenin the island, when they're being
presented with now you have the marinescoming and the bad guys coming, and
she's having to make that decision, she is now saying the man over the

(01:12:21):
mission, which is why she getsin trouble later spoiler alert at her job
because she chose him over saving thebriefcase. I get it, Okay,
I get it. Yes, Ohmy gosh. This moment where these individuals
are having to make these decisions outsideof what the logical things should be blah

(01:12:42):
blah blah boored boring blase blas didnot like it. I didn't care for
it. Yeah, I um oh. On the plane is also where she
finds out that he took a photoof them while she was sleeping and had
it on his widget on his phone, had it on his widget and she

(01:13:05):
is pissed and calls him a creepwhich rightfully so yeah, but still ends
with him. Girl, No,I get you know. I guess when
you've been through traumatic events, itreally bonds you and you can move past
some creepy shit. I guess. So oh, I hated this so much.

(01:13:25):
I don't even I mean to evento be honestly, I don't even
have clear notes from this part.I don't even I could not tell you
what happens because I was just like, no, I don't really have notes
after the playing part when the Marinesrescue them, So the the guy grabs
the suitcase. As the Marines arecoming to the island, they're shooting at

(01:13:50):
these guys. The bad guy god, I don't even know his name.
He's just he's Adrian Brodie's little partneror whatever. He grabs the he grabs
the suitcase. Sadie seems very tornbetween going after him, but she also
sees Cole running, which again, this man is running so freaking fast,

(01:14:15):
no way, yeah, asthma,So she decides I'm gonna go save this
guy, and they go. Theyfight off a couple guys, but then
she sees the dude drive off withthe briefcase. The Marines take them home
and she's getting in trouble at workfor letting the Aztec buy a weapon get

(01:14:36):
away, and then they plug themup to a lie detector and again this
back and forth. They're asked questions. The girl who's administering the lie detector
test is talking. First of all, her some of her comments were kind

(01:14:57):
of funny because she was talking abouthow hot he was. Um. But
but at one point she was likeshe seemed more interested in like them fighting
and like trying to get the tea. But she makes a comment about She's
like, I'm sorry the sexual tensionbetween them, Like it's I'm like,
what are you talking about? Whatare you talking about? What do you

(01:15:20):
what are you sensing? It justseems sexual tension in your pants girl?
Right is No, Oh my gosh, No, they really they really thought
that if we say this enough, they're gonna believe that there is actually a

(01:15:41):
sexual attention between these two characters. This movie maybe low key abusive. They're
really trying to make me believe somethingthat I don't believe. Yeah, gaslating
thing. Yeah, there you go. The movie gasolate me because they just
keep telling me what I should bebelieving in these moments, but it's not
coming through. No, not atall. No. Also, I agree

(01:16:02):
her her comments were funny, butwhen you remove that too, it's like
they're supposedly having this light detector testbecause the government now believes that a CIA
agent is potentially betraying the government becauseshe let go of the briefcase to the
bad guys instead of her mission.Right, I mean, we're a little

(01:16:26):
too chill for that, like likepotentially a CIA agent maybe compromised, Like
we just we're gonna be cute aboutit, like oh, she said love
but you know, but you knowwhat, So the the guy that was
making them take the light detector test, I'm guessing it must be policy or

(01:16:50):
something to do it because even herboss, the woman she was speaking to
at the beginning of the movie thatyou thought was maybe her therapist at first,
I feel like like she wasn't botheredby the fact that they were taking
the lie detect her test. Butthe guy who was making it happen,

(01:17:14):
I feel like he had a vendettaagainst this girl, like he was clearly
in competition with her, and Ithink he wanted to think to comment about
that too, like you want tosee me fail? Yeah, yeah,
yeah, so and I got thatmore than I don't think he actually believes

(01:17:34):
that she is a double agent andshe's going rogue and all that stuff.
I think he's just being an assholeagree, And I think that's what I
have the problem with. It's like, oh, we just trust her,
cool, but this is like stakesare high. This is supposed to be
a job where you don't even trust, Like I mean, she literally killed

(01:17:56):
her roommate, Like you're not supposedto trust everybody, because people can be
having you know, they could likethey ran him and even though his stuff
is clean, they didn't believe him. Nobody believed him because you know,
you're supposed to believe that. SoI think that's the part that was bothering
me so much. It's like,oh, we all seem really cool about
this, and I get it,she's worked there for a while, but
like, potentially this woman just letgo of this really massive thing, maybe

(01:18:20):
on perfect I think I think theirbiggest suspicion is of him, of Coal,
because they know the type of personthat she is, so they're like,
you're doing all this for this guythat you just met, Like why
wouldn't you question that maybe he hasulterior motives and he's trying to distract you

(01:18:45):
from your mission or whatever. Soso maybe maybe the LAE detector is more
about more for him than it isfor her. But either way, that
guy wants to like screw her over. Yeah that's true because he could be
his needy little farmer, but inreality yeah kill yeah. Well now,

(01:19:10):
now now there's a part here thatactually piss me off. And again another
reason why I'm like, I wouldnot want to be okay continuing to date
you as a person, because nowit's the choice between him going through with
the mission. Right, she comesup with a really solid play at my
thought. So it's either him goingthrough with the mission asked the taxman potentially
give it up part of these codes, abating them into meeting them, or

(01:19:36):
he goes on, goes home withhis life. But these people are always
going to be after him. Theyknow he is, they have his dabbled,
his information, and that potentially putshis family at risk. And again
he chooses to go through with themission to protect his family. Same but
also I would be so upset ifa man put my family in danger that

(01:20:00):
I would probably want to end him. Yeah, And at this point of
the movie, he's killed people,so it would be really easy to kill
her too. Yeah, because likenow you've put the you know, the
people I love most in the worldin danger because again he changes. We
later find out against spoiler aler whatever, that a lot of how he's lived
his life has been shaped by hisdad being sick at one point, which

(01:20:24):
he no longer is and he's doingbetter. Yeah, but that forced him
or put him in a position tobe home, be the head of the
household, be the head of thefarm, whatever, whatever. So it's
like that's his AD's better. Hejust never snapped out of it. So
again, his family is very importantto him. That's the only thing I
wanted to say there. Yeah,And so the key to this whole bioweapon

(01:20:50):
is this pass code, right. But you find out because he sees the
picture of the murder woman that shekilled and her house plant. He notices
what the plant is and I can'teven tell you what the plant is,

(01:21:11):
no, but it's you know, some special plant that he of course was
able to pick out, and theyfigure out that the genetic sequence of that
plant is what the pass code ish. So she got she gets kicked out
of the mission, and like yousaid, they they almost kind of they

(01:21:39):
forced his hand to be part ofthis mission because they're like, well,
what about your family? And ofcourse he gets scared, so he decides
to go through with it. He'sgoing to meet um, the French guy,
Adrian Brody. Oh I did lookit up. It's it is.
It's pronounced lovec like. So hedecides to meet him at this really bougie

(01:22:06):
restaurant. It's just Chris Evans goingin and he's like, okay, like
where you know, where's my backupwith? You know, how many guys
do we have? There's only threeguys together, and they're all together in
a van, in a surveillance van, and and he's like, what what

(01:22:29):
if something goes wrong? They're like, no, it's enough. I think
that they say some bullshit thing abouthow like the CIA can't operate on us
soil or something like that, orthe agency is it is it that?
I thought it was something even stupiderthat was like we're stretched really thin and
can't spare the guys or something likethat. I think he also says something

(01:22:54):
like that, but but like heliterally said something like we can't operate the
other things that the CIA, butit was whatever that was, can't operate
on us soil. And I waskind of like, Brah, it seems
insane, Like this is if thisis such a high priority, you would
think they would divert their resources tothis thing, especially you're you're sending in

(01:23:19):
a civilian bullshit. I'm sorry, bullshit. I believe the bad guys more.
The bad guys had it together better, Like a bad guys should have
won here because the bad guys hadit better to do. I mean they
kind of do for a little bitbecause right after he gets to the restaurant,
he sits down, he waits forthese guys to come. He's talking

(01:23:42):
into you know, he's got theearpiece to be able to communicate with these
three agents in the van. Andthey are easily and quickly found out and
they're all shot. And the oneguy right before he dies, he tells
Cole to get out of there andthen dies. And then this guy decides

(01:24:05):
like, no, I'm going tostay because of his believes right, his
family, and he also believes thatshe will show up. Yeah, He's
like, she's gonna show up,and she does show up. All in
slow motion with the wind blowing herhair and her dress and captivating the hole

(01:24:27):
like they've never seen a woman ina wig before. This part of the
movie was absolutely wild, just thewhole sequence of events. And then so
the restaurant they're in is at likethe top of some building and it's a

(01:24:51):
it's one of those rotating restaurants,so it's not rotating really fast or anything.
But when and shit hits the fanand there's a whole fight that breaks
out once they once they opened thecase, and there's a whole hot potato
thing going on, and she enlistsother bounty hunters to get these guys so

(01:25:15):
they can slip away, and it'slike a whole thing. When do you
hear her? Oh my god, hold on, she must be very itchy
right now. She's like, amI bothering you? She's been good all
day? And it was right whenwe started recording that she's just going crazy

(01:25:36):
itching herself. We have an appointmenton Wednesday so she can get her allergy
shot done. Um. So whenthey're when everybody's just kind of break out
and fighting and Cole is fighting thedude from the plane. Their fight results

(01:25:56):
in the speed of the restaurant gettingmessed with, and then all of a
sudden it goes crazy fast, whichshouldn't even be an option. First of
all. Also, I'm sorry you'retelling me there's no way too remotely,
Um stop this. Maybe cut thepower in the building again. This is

(01:26:20):
an emergency, right, sorry, tenants, we have to cut the power
because there's something going on at thetop of the building. No, too
unrealistic that that. Also, Iwas bored. I was actually when the
whole restaurant stuff was happening. Iwas like, please, let there be
this, Let this be the lastthing they do. Please. That went

(01:26:41):
on for a while. And anothercameo that I loved was Ryan Reynolds.
Oh yeah, that was cute.Yeah, him popping up in the as
another boyfriend. Yeah, another exboyfriend who like lost an eye, he
lost lost a bunch of shit.Yeah. I was afraid about this girl.

(01:27:02):
She seems very apparently all these menare willing to lose body. I
mean, I get it, she'sbeautiful, but like personality, why she
kind of sucks. Yeah, shedoesn't have one exactly, she does like
nothing. She had dead eyes.Yeah. No, but that was cute
when he showed up. I alsothought it was so funny when um,

(01:27:27):
you think she's about to lose theass deck and then it turns out she's
like holding it. So she's likelike doing this whole like almost like wonder
woman thing when the hair is blowingand she's like and then she like pulls
out that hmm gosh. People listeningand probably like what. But anyway,
she does this really stupid thing thatyou think she lost it, but she

(01:27:47):
didn't. I mean, it's reallyit's like a last kind of fight.
I guess. The the way thatthe restaurant is rotating so quickly, it's
causing everybody to get pushed up againstthe windows because of the force, and

(01:28:08):
so all the windows are cracking andpeople are flying out the windows and all
that. Chris Evans comes back tothe restaurant because he was fighting this guy
in another area. He comes backin and then kind of throws himself up
against the windows. I guess tohelp her, But look, I'm not

(01:28:30):
doing that. I already did myfight. I'm not coming back again.
No one he'll earns sight. Butnow he's coming like he's in these really
stressful situations that would probably induce areally bad as an attack, this man
as a fiddle. He's fine,he's fine. What are you gonna tell

(01:28:54):
me? Now? Well, it'strue love and that's why he's able to
what stay and blah blah blah No, no, yeah, gosh, I
was so bored with this. I'mdeadly always like, please, let there's
been this last scene and just takeme to the sloppy ending. Already I'm
mad. And then and then soso the bad eye dies, she like

(01:29:17):
shoots them out the window mm hmm. And then they're just kind of chilling
up against the window, snuggling witheach other and kissing. Did they get
out of that situation? I don'tknow. Now they cut the power.

(01:29:39):
It took the city that long tocut the power whatever. Anyway, then
we passed forward to this crappy ending. Well, no, first off,
they're sitting in the table with hisfamily chatting. They still believe she's on
art curator cute whatever, I getit, protecting her at all costs.
Um. I don't even I wasso tuned off, tuned out by then.

(01:30:01):
I don't even know that conversation.I don't know. I don't know
if there's anything important there. Notreally, I mean they just cracking jokes
and whatever you're you're supposed to you'rejust supposed to see that they have decided
to have like an actual relationship. She's met the family, everybody likes her,
all that bullshit. I will saythis, They were trying to give

(01:30:25):
us closure. It was an attempt. Okay, it was an attempt and
you find out, Oh oh,I guess. I guess The important thing
is like he's going to start travelingor or he is traveling. He's like
continuing to write that book that hewas talking about because he knows about all

(01:30:47):
these cultures. Now he needs togo out there and like yes, yes,
So that's I guess that's the importantsure is that he's finally like he's
finally going out and living his lifeand picking up where he left off before
he kind of dropped everything to bewith his family. Right then we have

(01:31:10):
they're in another city and she's working, but he's also working. So it's
kind of like they try to becute and make us seem like she shows
up to pick him up so theycan go to this or no, she
shows up to go to this workthing with him, seems like. And
then when he's trying to put hisstuff away in the trunk. She just
came from a mission, so shehas a man in there tied up.

(01:31:31):
So he's cool with it again becausehe knows what he's signed up for.
Now whatever, he posted stuff rightnext to the man, which again,
trust issues. I'm not going toput my bag next to this man.
What if he goes through it?So anyway, that happens, and then
they show them whatever walking. Idon't know exactly what city this is.

(01:31:51):
I know that they showed us thebuilding, which I know I've seen before.
Do you know what city they're in? It was like a convention center
or something. I don't but Ithink that's the main reason. Maybe they
show us the building because I thinkit's memorable. Maybe it's not. Who
cares. I was just happy themovie was over. Yeah, that's there,

(01:32:12):
that's there like date night. Andcan I just say this man,
this man put him in a suitall the time, please, because goddamn,
he looks good. He is mhe looks good. But yeah,
that's how the movie ends. Thankgod it ended, Thank goodness, my
good I was done, done,Jen. We we watched this movie.

(01:32:39):
We wanted to put this out. This upcoming week, So it was like
crunch time for us to watch it, to record this now, to do
the editing. M On a scaleof one to five, cactuses, cacti,
cacti, how would you rate thismovie one? And that's because I

(01:33:04):
couldn't give it serio stars. I'mgonna tell you this. There were parts
of a movie that we're very entertaining. Again, that bus scene went on
for too long, but it hadn'tme if they would have just given me
that action scene. Chef's kiss beautiful, I believe it. I get it.
She's an a CIA agent. There'sa million movies like that. You
don't have to show me her dayto day life. I get it,

(01:33:24):
I get what she does. Okay, but you did it, overdid it,
And now I have this movie where, like the action scenes, there's
so much fake involved in it,Like it just didn't feel as real as
some other action scenes. So notonly did you overpack this movie with action
scenes, but you also overpacked themwith shitty action scenes. And now I'm

(01:33:45):
sitting here just waiting for Chris Evanto show up shirtless like at some point
so that I could at least feelredeemed. So anyway, I feel very
strongly about this movie. It's aone because I can't give a zero was
it. Was it funny in certainareas? Absolutely I did laugh, But
if I want to laugh, I'lljust rewatch The Office over and over again.

(01:34:06):
It still makes me laugh all theseyears later, so I don't need
this to make me laugh. SoI will not be rewatching this movie again.
I quote unquote hot closure, butguess what, I did not have
closure because that was shitty closure.Okay. I couldn't even tell you what
to give me because guess what,I couldn't even handle another second of this
movie. So for those reasons,so passionate right now, this is so

(01:34:29):
funny. For those reasons, it'sa one, and that's that's fair enough.
I was going to give it aone. I gave it a two
and the only and you know me. You know the reason why I gave
it the extra point. I getthat, yep. Okay, because he
was good. Because because he wasgood, and you gave me two hours

(01:34:54):
of staring at one of the hottestmen I've ever laid eyes on. I'll
take it. But the movie. The movie was weird, the plot was
weird, the chemistry was weird.Chris Evans was good in it and hot
as always, and I enjoyed allthe cameos that were peppered in there.

(01:35:15):
I liked it Ryan Reynolds, theguys from you know, Marvel, all
that stuff, and and like yousaid, there were moments that were that
made me laugh a little bit orwhatever. But overall, not a good
movie, not great. And Iapologize if you hear Karen going off again.
She's a background about this movie. No I as soon as we started

(01:35:38):
talking about it, She's like, this shit, I'm allergic to this shit.
Yep, she just said it.She's like, I can't talk,
but you just said what I wantedto say. She said, it's a
Sunday she said, preach mom.She did. I I want to tell
you this, my friend. Idon't even need to say this, I

(01:36:00):
feel the need to say this.I honor and respect your rating because the
reasons you have chosen to give thatrating, because I know you and I
know how important these things are.I honor and respect you for that,
and I thank you. I wouldhave been surprised if you give it a
one, knowing that these key momentshappened in the movie that were that were
significant. So again, you don'tneed my validation, but I just want

(01:36:23):
to validate you. You have chosenthe correct rating for this. Thank you,
Thank you, Blessings to you, thank you for understanding. Thank you.
Yeah that must stay, sister. This was a this was a trip.
I didn't have high expectations for thismovie, but I had I had

(01:36:48):
bigger expectations for it than like theAshton Kutcher Reese Witherspoon one. You know
what I mean. It was itwas kind of rough. I'm just I'm
just gonna say something to Hollywood. If Hollywood is listening, I get it.
We're trying to be cute. Butjust like these actors in their careers

(01:37:10):
have this new found sense of I'mgonna do something that feels right, that
feels fun, whatever, we asan audience also went through the pandemic,
and therefore we are also expecting morefrom these movies. So I'm a little
annoyed because I've noticed this now andwe can probably go back, like our
lowest ratings are usually the newer movies, the newer ones. Yeah, they're

(01:37:33):
not delivering. And how are thesemovies like how when Harry met Sally from
nineteen eighty nine still feel so relevant, and yeah, a movie like this,
it's like, anyway, I dislikethis movie so much, and you
know it's you know what else iskind of funny. I don't know if

(01:37:56):
you've seen any of, like anyclips of Chris and Anna promoting the movie.
I have not no no chemistry,um not like not like there's zero
chemistry. They've known each other fora while, they've they are friends,
but there's something weird. So Ican't help but feel like maybe they hooked

(01:38:20):
up because she she kind of doesn'tseem like she's she seems like she's kind
of fed up with him at somemoment, and maybe, I mean,
maybe that's spending so much time togetherwhen you promote a movie, like you're
always around these people and doing thesame things and saying the same things over
and over in all these interviews. But there's something there's something else that's off.

(01:38:44):
Because there was a TikTok I sawof them doing an interview and the
person asked, you know, youguys, did the movie ghosted? Have
have you ever ghosted somebody? Andhe says, I don't think I've ghosted
anybody, but I've been ghosted, and when he said I've never ghosted anybody,

(01:39:08):
she turned and looked at the cameraand was like she like made this
big face. She was like kindof calling him out. She was being
kind of passive aggressive in the interview. So I feel like maybe something happened.
Okay, I haven't seen an interview, but I think you might be
onto something here because I feel likeeven when you're doing like those press junkets,

(01:39:29):
like it's like work, right,Like if I like you as my
work friend, like we're gonna havefun. I almost died. Um,
you know we're gonna have fun,and but if I don't, it's gonna
be the Sunday Scaries. Something musthave happened either either I know him like
reading too much into it, maybeI think you have a good analysis.

(01:39:49):
Something must have happened, or maybeshe was having a bad day. But
I really do feel like something happenedbecause they've done interview years before, because
they had they've done two other moviesbefore, and when when they were doing
press for what was that? Whatwas that Netflix? It was another action

(01:40:10):
Netflix? Oh the gray Man,So it was her him, Ryan Gosling.
It was that big action movie thatcame out last year maybe, and
they them two were paired up todo some interviews, and she was very
sweet with him. She had nothingbut good things to say, like,

(01:40:32):
you know, he's such a kindperson, he's talented, blah blah blah.
And now for these press junkets forthis movie, she'd be calling them
out on some stuff. So Idon't know if she's too comfortable, but
I really like, in my gut, I feel like something happened between them.

(01:40:53):
You know, it could be acouple of different scenarios, but could
also be that she wanted him andhe didn't want her, and then now
she's just mad. She's better,she's her maybe because he's with that he's
with that one chick. He's beendating that girl for what two years,
allegedly. I don't even know whatshe looks like. She looks young.

(01:41:16):
Well, I would I would loveto know. I would love to know
what the attitude is about. Letme make some calls that I can find
out. Oh gosh, well,I really, um. I wonder if
a reception already came out like thereception of this movie. Lets it's not

(01:41:42):
good twenty nine percent of Rotten Tomatoes, Oh four point two out of ten.
Yeah, I'm I'm not surprised.Oh my gosh, I still agree
with this less leslie wafting between action, comedy and romance without ever solidifying to
a satisfying whole ghost it earns achorus of booze. That is so true,

(01:42:08):
That is so true. Yeah,it's they They were too all over
the place. And you know what, we're We're gonna be doing another Chris
Evans rom com at some point.Um, the one he did with the
other an a Anna faris What's yourNumber? And that one was much I

(01:42:30):
don't know. Maybe maybe it wasthe action mixed in and like the push
pull, like it didn't know whatit wanted to be. It was.
It was bad writing. I mean, these guys, I'm sorry, I
guess how does this work? Theysay screenplay by and story by, So
there are two main greenplays, theactual script and the story I think is

(01:42:56):
just like the very like loose overviewof what this movie is going to be
about. Okay, then I'm goingto blame Rhet and Paul for this because
those are the two guys that werestory by and also screenlay screen. We're
also part of the screenplay by andI'm gonna blame them because again, if
if their story was better, theyshould have had better control of their screened

(01:43:20):
um. But this probably just meanstheir story was bad. So I you
can't you can't market this as likea rom com. I don't know.
No, That's what I'm saying.Don't even include the rom like because now
you're attracting the moment. You addromcom to this long genre of this movie.

(01:43:42):
Now you're attracting a certain type ofperson. Me like, this was
shit. I'm done. I'm done. I'm gonna get off my soapbox.
Now I'm hungry. I should probablyfigure out dinner. Thank you for joining
