Mesa Police Department Crime Report - Week of January 1-7, 2025

On January 2, officers responded to a burglary at a business near Southern Avenue and Stapley Drive. The suspect allegedly forced entry through a rear door and stole electronics and cash. The case remains under investigation.

A vehicle theft was reported on January 3 in the Dobson Ranch neighborhood. The victim's 2023 Honda Civic was taken from their driveway overnight. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old male for aggravated assault on January 4 following an altercation at a bar near Main Street and Alma School Road. The suspect allegedly struck another patron with a beer bottle, causing lacerations requiring medical treatment.

On January 5, police responded to reports of shots fired near Broadway Road and Mesa Drive. Shell casings were recovered at the scene, but no injuries were reported. Detectives are investigating potential gang involvement.

A strong-arm robbery occurred on January 6 in the parking lot of a shopping center at Power Road and Southern Avenue. The victim reported being pushed to the ground and having their purse stolen by two male suspects who fled on foot. The case remains open.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on January 7 near University Drive and Country Club Drive that resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The 28-year-old male driver was arrested on possession charges.

Multiple thefts from vehicles were reported throughout the week in the Alta Mesa neighborhood. Residents are reminded to lock car doors and remove valuables from plain sight.

The Mesa Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in a series of commercial burglaries targeting small businesses along Main Street. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build, last seen wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.
