Mesa Crime Update: Shootings, House Fire, and Unsolved Cases

During the week of April 9 to April 15, 2025, Mesa Police responded to a variety of alleged criminal incidents across the city. In the area of Main Street and Power Road, officers are investigating a deadly shooting; the suspect is still at large, and police are actively seeking public assistance to identify and locate the individual involved. No further suspect description was provided at the time of this report, and the case status remains under investigation.

In another reported incident near Thomas and Recker Roads, Devin Moll, 18, was arrested on charges related to the alleged shooting and death of 23-year-old Gavin Wadzinski. The investigation resulted in an arrest, and authorities have not indicated they are seeking additional suspects.

In the vicinity of Lindsay Road and Adobe Street, emergency personnel responded to a house fire. The cause of the fire remains unknown. While no residents were injured, one cat was found deceased, and crews continued to search for a missing dog and a second cat. This incident is under investigation.

Near Higley and Brown Roads, a traffic collision occurred involving a Mesa Police officer, a K-9 partner, and another vehicle. No injuries were reported to the officer, K-9, or the other party involved. The incident is being reviewed according to standard protocol.

Additionally, the Mesa Police Department continues to seek information regarding unsolved cases, including the September 19, 2022, homicide at 825 S. Alma School Rd., where a victim was found deceased and personal property, including a distinctive Sprayground Angry Bear backpack, was missing. Investigators encourage anyone with knowledge about this case to come forward.
