Mesa Police Blotter - April 26 to May 2, 2025

Recent criminal activity in Mesa has shown concerning incidents across the city.

On April 27, officers responded to a domestic disturbance near Southern Avenue and Gilbert Road. Upon arrival, officers found signs of altercation between two residents. One suspect was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault. The case remains under investigation.

A commercial burglary was reported at a business in the Fiesta District on April 28. Unknown suspects gained entry through a rear window during overnight hours, taking an undisclosed amount of cash and electronics. Security footage is being reviewed as detectives pursue leads.

Police responded to a vehicle theft near Brown Road and Stapley Drive on April 29. A 2022 Honda Accord was taken from a residential driveway sometime between 11 PM and 7 AM. The vehicle was recovered the following day in Phoenix with significant damage. No arrests have been made.

Multiple reports of package thefts occurred in the Red Mountain neighborhood on April 30. Residents reported delivered packages stolen from porches during daylight hours. Police are seeking a white male in his 20s seen in doorbell camera footage driving a dark-colored sedan.

On May 1, officers arrested a suspect at Recker Road following an investigation into a homicide. The suspect, identified as Moll, was booked into jail on one count of Second-Degree Murder and is being held on $1,000,000 bond. This arrest relates to a shooting on April 21 where 23-year-old Gavin Wadzinski was found dead on a sidewalk. Multiple units within the department coordinated on the investigation, which was hampered by a lack of witnesses.

A series of aggravated assaults was reported near Main Street and Mesa Drive on May 2. Two individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries during an altercation outside a local establishment. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation remains active.

Currently, police are investigating several vehicle break-ins reported in the Superstition Springs area. Residents are advised to remove valuables from vehicles and ensure doors are locked.

Police note a slight uptick in property crimes across Mesa compared to previous months, particularly in vehicle-related thefts. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity and secure their belongings.
