Speaker 4 (02:09):
Get your guns and save your last breath for all
the ones with no choice, no freedom, no shelter, no voice.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
And you might be.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Wise, so young and sorry. You might get away with
murder if you move a Selia.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
What did you do?

Speaker 4 (02:34):
He left me alone, so I left him for dead.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
He took out my future, so I took off his head.
The dogs are getting closer. I'm dying on the run,
the vents in the hills and they're coming.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
Away now the mountains to die out the day way
as gather. You don't stand it, I say them side

(03:08):
the walls around the gate, the Devil's aid.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Coming down the mountain time through your cold. It's not
like you two what you're told, but this change, feeling
in pain and knowing you'll never get old.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
You scared cause you're tired your mind and out.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
The week's side of two says you're dying.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
We can fall on our swords. It's never get ball
left by the night and that drying.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
This was a getting closer, a getting sick of running
him in the hills.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
Coming away, the devil side coming down the mountains.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Wait, we can't stand left.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
Tony and the time.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Last, you don't stands around again.

Speaker 7 (04:17):
You can't give up when you've got your shame. But
it doesn't hurt to dry. Spent seven days in the
pouring rain. I'll let you know that you're alive with

(04:39):
all this left to handle means but the wrold dressed
up his friends words of loss of meaning and the
snow one too defense when the singing halleluja and the
air stopped moving in your lungs.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Until then, you know you're not but done.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
You've only just begun.

Speaker 7 (05:09):
Besides, you were born out on the run.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
Better run, better run.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
By coming down the mountain. We let him say you
kill the ball about the day away.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
The beacons.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
Don't tab I'll say the demonside the ball way.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
The devil's are coming down.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
The mountain again. That was Eric Base with his latest
single Azalea. He has if you like what you heard,
he has a new record coming out. He is actually
the basis of Shine Down. This is the solo project.
So again, if you like what you heard, go check
out the rest of stuff. He's got a ton more coming.
Today is a pretty big day for nerds. I have
to say the first trailer for James Gunns Superman dropped

(06:28):
and July is going to be And I'm not fucking around,
I really mean this, July of next year is going
to be one of the most important months for comic
book movies. It like probably in our lifetime, because we
got Superman comes out July eleventh, and then we have
the Fantastic Four coming out in the same month. That's
a bolt statement. There's no other month that is going

(06:52):
to be bigger than this as far as impact. I'm
sure money or whatever, Like, I don't think this is
gonna be I think either movie is gonna be like
endgame bait. But when you make a billion dollars opening
the weekend, that's a hard thing to top. Yeah, it's
a hard thing to top. And it's probably never gonna
be replicated again. Maybe with Secret Wars. We'll see when
we get to that point in a few years. But
Fantastic Four has never been done right right. We can

(07:14):
all agree with that now now that it's finally under
the tutelage of Kevin Figi, everything that's come out of it.
I got to see like a teaser trailer at San
Diego Comic Con that looked unreal, and they won't release
it to the public because it wasn't even a real trailer.
They took it with test footage that they shot the
week of production and just some animatics, and even that

(07:36):
like looked like some of the coolest things I've ever
seen come out of the MCU. And then James Gunn
this is starting off, is officially kicking off his new GCU. Obviously,
Creature Commandos is happening right now, Creature Camandos has kind
of made events and Peacemaker and the Suicide Squad can
into what's going forward and everything like that. But like
Superman's the really big jumping off. Yeah, the first movie

(07:57):
in the DCU. It's it's a big statement to what's
to come. I've been so hype for this movie. And
I was not a Superman kid growing up. I was
a Batman kid like most of us. But I was
really thinking about this this week, and I think it's
because of this. Most people, probably our age in our
late twenties and our thirties, we grew up with X Men,
the A series, Spiderman, the AMA series, you know, Batman,

(08:19):
the AM series, Like those were our heroes. Growing up,
and then the MSU happened, so then like the Avengers
became our heroes and everything like that, we weren't alive,
most of us in the times where like the Richard
donnerd Superman was coming out and like because those for
like our parents and people above that that was their hero.
And I think this movie can be like our Superman,

(08:40):
you know, like kids Superman. Because I love Henry cavill
I liked what he did with Superman. But the more
i think about Man of Steel and the more I've
learned about Superman over like the last few years, whether
it's comics or other renditions, animated or whatever, Man of
Steel is such a bad Superman movie. I think it's
a fine movie overall. There's definitely some qualms with it

(09:01):
that I have, Yeah, mostly the ending and uh, Superman
killing someone in his first appearance in this live action universe. Yeah,
kind of odd. But it's so Unsuperman. It's dark, it's bleak.
He says, hope, But it's like these movies are supposed
to instill hope, not tell you that the simple stands.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
For hope, like even the old you know, Batman and
stuff like way back, like everything was always positive, like right,
it was always yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
I think that's where like Marvel.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
I think I want to say Marvel had changed that
like later on, but like the old old DC, the
always positive, there is no like dark brooding look at
Adam West Batman compared to like for us our Batman
with Tim Burton, Batman started to you know, and then
the nineties got all goofy again kind of but also interesting,
like you were saying like, well, that was our superhero,

(09:49):
you know, and like this is the new kid superhero,
Like that's that's always going to be like that, no matter.
It's like for us, James Bond is Pierce Brosian, that's
what we grew up with, someone you know, just entering
their twenties now like some there that's Daniel Kraigl. That's
that's James Bond. Of course for me, you like X Men,

(10:11):
it's x Men now x Men ninety seven you know
or whatever it is, and like the Arcade game and
Colossus doing his move and going like like you know,
like that's that's what the X Men is. That's the
toys I had, you know, and I wasn't even a
big comic book nerd or whatever, like I was into
more video games and like Sonic the Hedgehog, and then

(10:33):
you know, like more Start Star Wars kind of stuff
like whatever. Like like you said, they goes for everything,
like whatever is popular when you're a kid. The same
thing with music, right, I mean New Metal is the
best music ever created because that's what was popular when
I was in high school.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
You know, it's yes, it's this, it's the same thing.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
You know, like you can, I appreciate all the new stuff,
but that's you know, when you're coming of age and
what affects you as a person as you're growing. That's
your personality as it was leading up to this.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
I'm a massive James gun fan. Anyone who's listening to
this podcast, James Gunn has been a very big top
of a conversation obviously for him announcing the new GCU,
whether it's Cars, the Galaxy Volume three, like whatever you now,
Creature Commandos. I've spoken very the highly of James gun
and everything he's talked about this movie. And then when
the marketing started rolling out, when we got that first

(11:28):
poster with a teaser of the score, we got the
teaser for the teaser, and then we got the teaser today.
There's something inherently special about this movie, at least to me,
and it seems like a lot of people are sharing
the same sentiment. It's just this movie feels like it's
going to be a big deal, and it feels like
it's going to be that Superman that everyone's wanted since
the Donner Superman. I'm so happy that we're kind of

(11:51):
getting a modern take of that, like a new version
of that for this generation, for our generation. Everything about
this trailer and there's very little dialogue, like like I
think there's like two lines of dialogue in this this
whole trailer, but everything just emotes hope to you. That
little kid putting up the Superman banner, seeing Crypto run

(12:13):
to him, Like even the shots of him and lois
like you can see this chemistry with no dialogue. And
if that's with no dialogue, I can't even imagine what
this is gonna be like in the actual movie itself. Yeah, yeah,
But what did you think of the trailer when you
first saw it today? I mean, I'm gonna be honest,
like I was.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
I'm like, like I said, I wasn't the big DC,
like knew all all of that stuff grown up so
it just seemed, you know, like the big thing for
me was like, oh, look a dog, you know, you know,
like I saw the speed thing and I was like, oh,
this must be the flash speeding towards him. And then
it's like Crypto and I'm like, okay, this, this makes
this makes sense because like again like the different interpretations,

(12:54):
like we haven't seen Crypto before. For me, trailers don't
get me hyped. I want to see the real thing,
you know. To me, the trailer is like all right,
this is gonna happen, and I try to like not
watch trailers.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, I'm I'm with that with a lot of movies
more lately, I'll watch the big ones just because usually
I talk him about them on the show or something
like that. But for a lot of like the smaller
or even like horror movie stuff, I'll maybe watch the
first trailer maybe because I know that will give nothing away,
and then I won't watch anything after. It's crazy because
like I said, like a few years ago, I didn't

(13:26):
really care about Superman that much, you know, I don't
like nothing about the character really spoke to me. And
then again kind of like watching My Adventures of Superman
or kind of seeing the road Cavil Superman was going on.
He was starting to get to that hopeful, bright righterman,
but it was already like way too late for that
universe to salvage. It was just already Yeah, drug through

(13:49):
the mud and everything like that. The character done right
is an amazing, compelling, super interesting character because it's not
about his power set. It's not about how he's like
all power powerful and not a lot of people can
defeat him. It's it's about his humanity and the message
he brings to the world. Like that's the part of
Superman that's the most interesting. And I love that this

(14:10):
movie definitely seems like it's centered on that. And yeah,
I just I just can't wait for the movie. Like
I'm just like over the moon excited. Yeah, this movie,
and I'm just I can't wait until July. But each
week I like to have a now watching section where
my guests and I we talk about, well we've been
currently watching, whether it's new, old, streaming in the theaters.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
So, Chris, what have you been watching? So I started
watching Silo. I don't know if you've heard of that
one on Oh yeah, I'm like three episodes. I don't
have a lot of time anymore. You know. So the
first season, first season, I'm like, I'm like literally episode four,
so no spoilers, but like that's you know, yeah, so

(14:55):
I'm excited to see where they go with that. I'm
definitely any anytime you get these these show where it's
like this, like oh, there's some mystery that's got going on,
and you're like, all right, please don't end the show
before you solve the mystery.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
You know, like, oh, great news for you. They just
renewed it for season three and four, which are going
to finish out. It's it's based on a book trilogy,
and season three and four are going to finish. The
showrunner's planned to like this is a massive Season two
is happening right now, as I'm sure you know, if
you go to Apple, you see all yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Yeah, and again that's why it like auto played after
we were watching whatever Shrinking something totally unrelated.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
That's another show I'm watching, which is not any Yeah,
both amazing, amazing shows. Yeah. It's actually I think rated
over Shrinking right now as far as like like on Apple,
it's like number one over Shrinking is crazy because shrinking
is amazing and like a very popular series. But Silo
is like carrying all the buzz right now. But you

(15:55):
don't have to worry. The story is going to finish
as it should, which I'm very stoked about. And once
you get to near the end of season one and
into season two, the mysteries just keep raveling up. It's
it's as long as it solves. That's that's my whole thing.
Did they start did they start showing severance yet or
is that uh is that still filming that comes out

(16:16):
next month? Season two. I'm currently on. I rewatch of
season one of Severn. Yeah, season two, I realize that
was that was out of ear. Yeah, okay, so yeah
that I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Like my wife actually works in the building where they
film that, so she's like, you know in Jersey, it's
the Bell Works building or whatever, and there's a bunch
of companies in there and stuff and uh the outside,
so like when you see them, like before they go in,
they're walking through these like mhm, not not the blank
corridors inside, but before they go in there there you know,

(16:46):
there's just like they walk in the building, it's like
that's the building and they try to make it look
bleak and everything cool, and they CG guide all of
these windows where the offices.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Are just walls.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yeah, they CEG guide all walk like, so they're walking
through you know, like uh, you know the what do
you call it the catwalks or whatever, and there's all
open like it's you know, it's that you know, New
age open floor plan. Everything is windows, offices, you know,
and they just blocked it all out in the CGI,

(17:16):
which is just crazy. But uh, you know, so that's
that's looks really good interesting to you know, she's like,
oh you got you got to come to my again.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
It's it's not even like her office. It's they have
like shops and everything.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
It's just the you know, it's like, let's make a mall,
but put places for people to actually do regular work in.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
They actually filmed some of season two down the street
from my house too, at the train station. Oh wow,
this is like because it's crazy because it's been like
two years since season one because there was a massive
strike and there there was a right strike than the
SAG after strikes, so that yeah, put a big and
I think that happened in the middle of when they
were filming, so they had to kind of that's why

(17:59):
it's taken so long for it to come out, because
originally it was supposed to be this year, but I
mean we're getting it shortly after this year, so that's yeah,
that's nice. But yeah, keep on with Silo because I
think the show just continually gets better. It's kind of
same with Shrinking. I just think like season two is
amped up with season one set up, and I think
I think it's doing what But like a lot of

(18:20):
these shows, I think it's why they're like a lot
of TV shows are better than they used to be,
especially because like any of these shows would be like
a sitcom or like a network TV kind of show.
And with streaming now creatives can go, hey, I have
an X season plan for the show. This is how
many episodes it's going to be blah blah blah. And
instead instead before it was like film a twenty six

(18:43):
episode season and able to fill it with random bullshit
episodes that don't mean anything to the plot. They're just
there to fill time. And with streaming, you don't need that.
You can do whatever the fuck you want, and I
think it's been Apple TV is one of my favorite
streaming services. It's like two or one on any even
it's hard to count against Max because HBO is, you know,

(19:03):
the be all end all of TV. As far as
I've watching, it hasn't been much. Like I said, I
kind of restarted my rewatch with severance because I want
to fresh in my mind as season two comes. And
then I've been watching Dexter Original Sin, which is a
Dexter prequel series. By this episode comes out, there'll be
three episodes out. This past Friday had a two episode drop.

(19:24):
I've seen the first five and it's wild because I
don't want to spoil anything, but there was a sequel
series called Dexter New Blood that came out a few
years ago that took place like years after the original
Dexter series, and the first scene of Dexter Original Sin
takes place after that and then goes into this kind
of prequel thing where it kind of shows the beginning

(19:45):
of Dexter kind of honing his craft. So to say, Yeah,
all of the actors are played by different, different people,
and I think they kind of nailed the mannerisms of
all the people they're playing who they took over. I
think they they didn't nail it, and that part has
been super impressive, to me, and I respect it. I
mean it's all the same creator and stuff like that.

(20:06):
So it's like they have that through line and that
kind of like bible to look to to be like, hey,
am I doing this right? And they are killing it
and they are adding some very interesting layers to Dexter
and especially as dad Harry that I didn't think the
series was gonna do. I was always kind of like
interested in it, but I didn't know it would be
if it would be good or not, obviously, and so far,

(20:28):
like halfway through, it's it's it's pretty solid. And they
did announce that there's going to be another sequel series
that kind of picks up after what happened in Dexter
Newblood happens again. I don't want to spoil anything because
I know there's people who haven't watched Dexter New Blood.
I'm really really liking it so far. Again, it's adding
some like wild extra layers to Dexter's past, to his mom,
and again like a lot of flashbacks with Harry kind

(20:51):
of showing his relationship with Dexter's mom and stuff like that,
stuff that I did not think I needed, But it
definitely adds in more depth to the overall series and
something that's like really cool that they do not focus
on in the original series because the only time there's
flashbacks with his dad, but it's usually from Dexter's perspective,
and obviously his dad is like his dark passenger. You

(21:14):
kind of see how Dexter starting to take people's lives
affects him and how there was kind of different ways
they were trying to like feed his urge or so
to say, and that stuff, I think is like some
of the coolest stuff this series has done so far
is that. Obviously, the main thing of Dexter is he's
not a good guy. You kind of root for him

(21:35):
and you like him, and he has this weird likable
quality and he's the main character. But the end of
the day is a fucking serial. It's a yeah, like
you well, that's the newer one, you know, very similar,
you know, very yeah psycho. It's all under the same
umbrella of crazy mind of a killer. That's you know,
that's kind of what makes it interesting. That is probably
why people fell in love with it. You're like, I

(21:56):
like this guy, but he also is a killer. He
kills bad guys, but still he's killing people. It's kind
of when you really think about it, if you're a
Dexter fan, I would say, check this out. I I
have not seen Andy Dexter. I never got into it.
Oh shit, yeah, I never got into it. Yeah. It's
kind of a lot to ask if you're like, hey,
if you never watched it. There's eight there's eight seasons

(22:18):
of the original series, then there's a sequel series, and
now there's a prequel series. Yeah, a few things. It's
a lot to dive into now. For sure, before you
have kids, you can do stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
You know, like when Star Wars came to Disney Plus,
I'm like, I don't need Disney Plus, I don't care.
And then you know, I don't want all that stuff.
And then my wife like Star Wars is on and
I'm like, all right, we'll we're gonna get it, and uh.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Star Wars.

Speaker 6 (22:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
So before whatever whatever the.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
The movie was at the time just binged like the
Clone Wars, Like, never saw that before. Now you watch
all of that and watch you know, the Rebels and everything.
So then when like you know, the Mandalorian comes out
and stuff like that, and then you you know, you
see like the Dark Saver and these other you know,

(23:12):
not not Carrios the word for it, like includely like
you know, tying the universe together, and I'm you know,
I'm the Then the meme with with with the Leonardo DiCaprio,
the there is you know, you know, my wife is like,
I doesn't like, you know, seeing all the movies and everything,
but not the forty hours of of the Clone Wars.

(23:34):
And again, like you're saying with you know, back on
broadcast television, there's all these like non not important episodes,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
That are just filler, especially in no that that was
a series.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
I definitely didn't expect to really like and liked it
because when it was out it was like, oh, on
Disney X, here's the Clone War with animations for kids,
and it's like, well, I'm twenty, I don't need to
I need to watch this now, you know. So it
just never never got it, never got into it, and
then you know, seeing it later and just like all right,

(24:14):
just just just give a Dave Fillion Star Wars and and.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Call it a day. You know, Yeah, I agree, Dave
Filoni is Dave Filoni. I said, your Dave Fillion, like yeah, yeah, yeah,
he just like I don't think anyone knows more about
Star Wars than possible than maybe George Lucas. But sometimes
I feel like Dave Filoni gets Star Wars more than
George Lucas. Sometimes I went back and revisited or visited

(24:40):
for the first time Clone Wars and Rebels because at
like the season finale of season one of Mando Moffagadion
comes out with a dark saber and I saw people
on the airnet like freaking out about this. I'm like,
what the fuck is this thing? And then so I
went back and watched all of it. So then when
seasons two and season three came out, like those seasons
were incredible to me because it's like it's eyeing in

(25:00):
all this stuff from the Rivals and Clone Wars, like yeah,
both times finally kind of acknowledging all that stuff. And yeah,
it's so funny they call Clone Wars for kids that
last season is dark as fuck.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Well again, that that was the season that was made
for streaming. That was like later, right, yeah, yeah, that
was made post Disney merger and right, and that's the
thing like at that point it had been like ten years,
I mean a ten year yeah, maybe it was probably
like ten years since the show started when it was
for kids or something like that, like season one, you know,

(25:35):
the kids who were twelve or ten whatever, Like they're adults.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
And they're ready for that content, you know. So yeah,
for sure.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
But yeah, it's really it's really interesting to see like
Dave Filoni try to like save the bad Star Wars
movies by adding more context.

Speaker 7 (25:55):
You know.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's been great. He did it with the prequels.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
Yeah, it made it makes the prequels better, like having that,
you know, and then like especially like the the last
season where like you could literally cut in between episode
three and and the Clone Wars and like you know
like uh, Mace Winder gets off a call with with

(26:19):
Ahsoka and then turns around and is at the Council
or maybe with Yoda something like that, where it was
just like just right back and forth, you know, like
stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
It's like really cool integrating it, you know.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
And again you're like you're adding this like super major
character to the plotline that just wasn't there, and like
you know, yeah, like integrating it seamlessly enough that even
though it's like, you know, I think there's been some
like memes or something, uh, you know, like Darth Vader
talking to Luke and being like, you know, I had

(26:51):
a paddle on once, you know, like like it's just
never that never came up. They did a good way
of making it make sense for sure.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Yeah, even though it's like you're like, yo, you're not
a master or whatever, like he wasn't even in a
Jedi yet and he's had.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
His own padawan. I never understood that part. Yeah, yeah,
I don't either, But they make up their own rules.
Who cares, well, it's it's all made up anyway. So yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah,
since we're talking about Star Wars. Yeah, perfect, perfect segue.
Look at that, very nicely done. It's so funny because
a lot of peop you said kind of pertains to
this show in a lot of ways. The thing I've

(27:29):
been liking the most about this show is that it
could have tied into things in a more kind of
straight up way, kind of like The Mandalorian did. But
I'm so happy it hasn't and it's been yet mostly
its own. Dang. Yeah, I really don't think it's going
to because I feel like they would have by now,
I swear to God in episode three, when the X

(27:51):
Wing came out, I was like, it's gonna be that
motherfucker from Mando, isn't it? And then it wasn't, and
I was like, yeah, thank god. I was like, there
has to be more New Republic Officers than that guy.
Has to be more than that guy. And when we
got into that planet episode four, I was like, dude,
there's gonna be some wild fucking cameo here, and there wasn't,
and I was like, thank fucking god. Like the yeah,

(28:11):
And I think I think it's because John Watts had
this plan and he's like, I'm doing it. It's it's
going to add to it's not gonna take anything way.
It's it's going to add to the mythos and it's
going to give us this new kind of perspective of
Star Wars. I thought the show is gonna be fun,
and I really like John Watson did all of the
Tom holland Spider Man movies, so it's like, no, this
dude is talented. I know, I know he's got the goods,

(28:32):
but yeah, I've really really enjoyed the show and what
it's done, and I think it's it's I was talking
to my friend Matt earlier today and he was like, yeah,
like my kid has been like I want to watch
Skeleton Crew with you, and he's never been interested in
Star Wars, and I was like, this show is the
perfect thing for that. And it's exactly what we've been
talking about with This can be a kid's new entry

(28:53):
into Star Wars because it's like they see themselves in it.
It's Episode one. Yeah, exactly right. As much as everyone
was like, oh, the prequels were so the prequels are so.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Bad, Episode one was so bad, and it's like, you know,
that was the first Star Wars movie I saw in theaters.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
It was a little bit older, but.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Like I was like, now we see like all the
all the memes on the internet about the from the prequels,
and it's like when people grew like that was that
was their Star Wars. You know, that was the first
thing they saw, so they grew up with it and
that's that that was the normal thing. It was like, yeah,
it was goofy, but that's that's why they that's why

(29:31):
they watched it.

Speaker 7 (29:32):
You know.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
It's it's fine to be goofy. The original Trilli Trilogy
is goofy as fuck. It is so goofy. That's why
it's like the thing that drives me the craziest about
Star Wars fans is that the nostalgia blinders are real.
I mean, I love it exactly. I think Embrasary's Back
is easily the best Star Wars movie, and it's probably
one of the best, one of my favorite movies of
all time. There's some like really big goofy ship and

(29:56):
it's mostly because of the time. But I hate people
are like, man, I would some Star movies were like this,
and they compare it to something that like was the
thing you're complaining about, And I'm like, do you remember
these movies or you just like recalling them from like
when you were a kid and watch them because Darth
Vader flips down a flight of stairs, which makes no
fucking sense, you know, Like, there's so many things you
can pick apart with these movies if you really wanted to. Like,

(30:18):
I've rewatched them numerous times in my adult life, and
I still have love for all of them something way,
shape or form. But like, yeah, Empires at the top,
but the rest probably are are not, you know, like
the other two probably aren't. The Skeleton Crew is is
you know, it's becoming this kind of new entry point
for Star Wars, and people of all ages are enjoying
the fuck out of this show. And it's just I've

(30:39):
been saying, it's nice to have a time where people
are positive about Star Wars. Feels Yes, it feels good. Yeah,
it feels great. Before we end episodes three and four,
what have you thought of the series so far?

Speaker 3 (30:51):
So, like I had said about the trailers, I didn't
watch any trailers. I just if Star Wars, I'm gonna
watch it, so I don't need to know what's about,
you know. And it's like, oh, they're about Pirate Crew,
and then the first scenes or the pirates or whatever,
and then they get into the kids and stuff, and
I'm like, it's it's the goonies. Here we go again,
you know, you know, it's it's just just another Stranger

(31:15):
Stranger Things, eighties kids stand by me thing, and uh.
At first I was kind of like, h here we go.
And then you know, obviously builds up a bit more,
you know, I got more into it, but like you said,
it's a different take. It's going somewhere different with the
with the story. Then, like you maybe they're not going

(31:36):
to include all these cameos and you know stuff. It's
just this is a different again. You have this giant galaxy,
Like there's so many stories to tell, you know, like
you don't need to shoehorn all the Skywalkers and everything
into it, right.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
Yep, you know, like Luke didn't need to be in Mando.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
I mean it was awesome, you know, but like it
it didn't right, like you were already telling a story
and like there is no involvement of that. Again, it
was connected to it because it you know, like the
remnants of the Empire and everything.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
But so it's interesting to see, you know, where this
goes with it. And like I hadn't like.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Played the Nights of the Old Republic and all that stuff,
so I don't really have a lot of lore in
my head of the Old Republic.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
So I'm interested to see how this, you know.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
I mean I'm assuming it all ties in what they're
introducing with them at Atkin and all these other like
the Old Worlds or whatever.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
You know that that's all new lore to me. So
I mean, are you more familiar? It was just a
new lore. It's just new law period. Okay, yeah, I think, well,
the planets are the funny thing about the Old Republic
and I don't really know much about it either because
I never played the games and I've been kind of waiting.
They were supposed to be like a remaster that came
out in PlayStation and hasn't come out. There's some weird
production issues and I was just gonna play that when

(32:55):
the remaster came out, but yeah, it hasn't happened yet,
so I'm very behind on the stuff as well. But
this is all like new loare being added and all
the Old Republic stuff is technically not Cannon Saw Legends
stuff now, so it's like they can kind of include
it as they want now. I know there's been stuff
vaguely reference that, like I think Darth Bane and Darth

(33:15):
Reven have been referenced within, making them quote unquote canon,
but they can do what they want to kind of
reintextualize that within this new, you know, canon world of
Star Wars. I know people aren't really offended and pissed
off about the Cannon shit.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
I don't really give a fun I mean, that's just
even the trilogy, like like they already wrote the sequel trilogy,
or if they didn't call it that, like there was
always they already did that post uh you know, post
a Return of the Jedi story, right, so kept some
things and most they didn't, you know, did their own.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Thing right exactly. So yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah, And
Dave Filoni and John Favreau have been really good about
taking kind of aspects of legends and reintegrating them in
They've done in Mando and and everything like that just
kind of exactly what you said. They've kind of just
used some of the stories and kind of and kind
of redid it. But vastly the Old Republic hasn't really

(34:09):
been touched again, Yeah, other than these like slight little references.
So seeing it included in this is something that I've
been like, oh, this is very interesting. I wonder where
they're going with it, especially with the way like episode
four ends where we kind of see that we see
this kind of parallel planet to at Ad in at Akron,
which a lot of people are making Akron Ohio jokes,
and I just think is really funny. I just I

(34:32):
just found it humorous seeing that SM thirty three was
there when whoever his captain was, I'm guessing is going
to be a big kind of culmination piece to this
this series of how he's the reason he destroyed the
coordinates and forgot about anything about Aden, and he's you
know obviously like tries to kill these kids over the

(34:54):
information of it. So, yeah, it's very interesting to see,
like why Adam is the c why it's probably the
only one that's left that's intact and not this like
desolate wasteland. That's obviously the big mystery of the series
is like what the fuck is that Adan? And just
interesting to see like this the society that's been like
totally under in the dark normalized. Well that's and that's

(35:18):
another thing we'll get back to that, Like, yeah, it's
interesting to see the you know, living under a rock
and not being aware of what's been going on in
the past. However, many decades, right, the Old Republic is
a long time ago from where we are now in
the timeline, Like, yeah, a bit, it's been a bit. Yeah,
it's kind of fucking crazy when you think about it,

(35:39):
where like where does the Old Republic become the regular
Republic to like you know, pre goes Old Republic High
Republic and then prequels basically, and we saw a little
bit we saw the end of the High Republic, which
was two hundred years prior to the Phantom Menace in
the Acolyte and Old Republic is farther back than that.

(36:00):
This is like hundreds of years this planet has been
a secret somehow. It's kind of fucking insane. Like, yes,
it's pretty crazy, and I'm sure that's what they're gonna unravel.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
It's like, well they've been they've been in the barrier,
you know, they've been you know, like they've been in
a bubble you're not allowed to leave, you know, So
like it's that uh yeah, you know, like they're insulated
and they have their own thing going on, and then
they developed because of that, they developed suburbs. So that

(36:31):
was you know, going back to like the initial the
initial impressions, like when it first started off, this doesn't
feel like Star Wars, you know, seeing like the suburbs,
I'm like, like, what are we doing? And then they
held the whole Goonies vibe came in and I'm like,
that's why they're doing this, and I'm like, this doesn't
feel again, like there's so many worlds that, well, why

(36:55):
wouldn't there be a world that was like this? Because
there's so many untouched tap places, you know. Yeah, it's
and again that isolation because they didn't have to deal
with empire and wars and stuff, and they could just
this is the great work we have to do to
keep us insulated, you know, or whatever it turns out
to be.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
So I have a feeling it's going to be something
really dark, like it's it's kind of giving Pleasantville vibes
in a lot of ways. And it is kind of
ironic to see these kids, especially Whim, he wants to
go out in this big adventure, and then then once
they got an adventure, it's kind of making him realize
that what they have at home is something like really
special and unique to them that doesn't exist in this galaxy. Yeah,

(37:37):
I'm interested to see once they get to that kind
of revelation of what ad in actually is, if that's
still going to be a similar feeling or what's going
to happen to it.

Speaker 8 (37:46):
The treasure was the friends we had at home, right right,
the friends we made along the way, yeah, well, or
the you know, in this case, it would be like
like oh, we got to go steal the treasure and
it's like family, right, That's the true measure, you know, peace.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
Family, treasure, and now you destroyed it because you came
in here. The thing about episode four that I love
the most is it was a very highly anticipated episode
for me because I knew it was directed by the Daniels,
who they're the directors of everything ever were all at Once,
which I think is one of the best movies. Maybe
that's a decades I haven't seen yet, but uh, I

(38:21):
definitely heard really good things about It's great. So this
is their first directorial thing post to that they're Oscar
winning movie, and I was like, wow, they got them
for a Star Wars episode that's kind of fucking crazy, Like, yeah,
pretty wild. So I had high hopes going into it.
And I remember watching the episode at first and I'm like,
I don't know how I feel about this first, and
then when they really make the story about Neil and

(38:45):
his kindness being the kind of secret to bravery and
see how he's exposed to war and even him seeing
this like war in this conflict, he's even kind of
like what's the point of this? And you know, like
him offering food to these kids that are hungry, and
him standing up for his friends. Like I just found

(39:06):
it so incredible what they did with this episode. And
I know a lot of people are on the train.
I would fucking die for Neil if anything happens to Neil.
I'm going on a John Wick level revenge mee. Yeah
for sure.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Are you saying are you trying to say he's a dog?
Is that because he's clearly an elephant not a dog?

Speaker 2 (39:28):
I was just making a metaphor. Okay, he's not He's
not a dog. No, yeah, Max Rebo's long lost cousin. Yeah,
well apparently since his like arms are different, it's technically
a different species even though it's similar. It's Star Wars things.
I don't know that. Yeah, it's crazy that. That's how
hardcore they're like guidelines, armies and stuff is that they're like, well,

(39:50):
this one thing's difference, but it's not the same species.
I was like, I mean, good for that species anyways, Like, like,
what was it the something with is he? I can't
remember the darth All species.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
You know, they're just people with horns on their heads,
like you know what I mean, Like, I mean, now
it was switching universes, but like you know, Vulcans, they're
just people with pointy ears and eyebrows. You know, like
there's there's plenty of Star Wars aliens that are just
you know, oh and they Twilek's got weird tentacles on
their heads, but they're other than that.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
They're just mammals and they're a different color. But whatever. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, I thought it was interesting in one of the
Clone what was the Clone Wars or the bed batch
or something they had, you know, that they went and
visited a clone that like hooked up with a Twilek
and was like living out in a farm and stuff
and had these like hybrid kids or something.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
I'm like, I haven't seen that before. I didn't even
know that could happen.

Speaker 6 (40:49):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (40:50):
Like, what is what is going on in this universe?

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Like you know, like you think cross weird stuff, bigger
thing if that was possible, you know, I mean.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Hey, Ray was the baby of a clone, so clone
of Palatine. Yeah. Also somehow Palpatine was involved all along,
you know, somehow Palpatine fucked That's yeah, I just imagine. Yeah.
Another thing about episode four that I that I kind
of loved is seeing Jod have this kind of hero

(41:23):
turned you know, you've kind of seen him as more
of an opportunist than anything. Episode three, when we finally
fully get into his character, we see it's we see
him called by three different names within the episode, and
you're like, who the fuck is this guy? Like, what's
his what's his deal? Why does he need to be
called a different name by so many people? I actually
wrote a pretty cool article for Collider that kind of

(41:46):
goes into the comic origins of Crimson Jack, which he
was called in that episode, which it's it's a deep cut,
it's a massive Star Wars comics cut, it goes back
to it goes back to the og Star Wars comics
that came out after a New Hope. He's also been
brought into Cannon, So he's definitely not Crimson Jack at
least that's my hypothesis. It's just another alias that he

(42:06):
went along. And I believe Jude Law has said that
we will learn his past, which I am. I am
interested to see us get to that because that's kind
of the other mystery to this series, right.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
And this is taking place like he was clearly as
as an adult when the original trilogy was going on,
So where was he?

Speaker 2 (42:29):
You know, was he a jetic? Was just some Force user?

Speaker 3 (42:32):
Was he, you know, a Sith apprentice or something that
like escapes or whatever, you know like that, and this
is another thing was going on another tangent of like
the Sith.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
And it's like, oh, the role of two. There's always two,
a master and apprentice. And I'm like, but then someone
else had an apprentice. You know what, what was it?

Speaker 3 (42:50):
A Christopher Lee had an apprentice, had was the apprentice,
but also had an apprentice, and then there was three
of them. It's like, what's what is what's going on here?
There's a million things he could be. And like you
were saying before, like I hope the thing that he
is is not Oh it's just you know a skywalker

(43:11):
everyone you know, Like it's like, yeah, but wait, there
is another That's what he was really talking about. It
was it wasn't his sister, but the other Skywalker is
Oh my god, it's his cousin.

Speaker 2 (43:23):
Jesus surprise, Greg Skywalker, you know, Greg fucking Greg always.
You know, I hope so too. That would be awful.
It ends up being some weird connect. I would be
happy if, you know, if he survived over sixty six
and you know he just you know, that's why I
had to change his name so much so we had
become hidden from the forest, became an opportunist, like left

(43:47):
the Jedi. You know, yeah, that makes sense. I'm fine
with that. Or if he even just another Ahsoka, yeah exactly,
or if he did survivor d sixty six but then
got caught by the like the Inquisitor kind of thing
like which Tales of the Dark Side kind of went in.
You saw some of these. That's like why Palpatine was
hunting for force sensitive beings is because she wanted to

(44:11):
make them visitors. So it's like maybe he got into
that and somehow got away and now he's like this,
like anything like that, I'm totally cool with. Yeah, he
does not need to be tied to anyone directly bloodline,
right right.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
Or maybe he just never was trained by the Jedi
and was just the Force user and just kind of
figure things out on his own and like like we've
only seen him just kind of like move some stuff.
He hasn't done anything crazy. Maybe he's just not like right,
you know, like not everybody is, you know, able to
do backflips like whatever. People are stronger with the force

(44:44):
than others. You could just be that, you know, right,
that kid in episode eight that just moved some dirt
or whatever it was at the end.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
Yeah, and I love that. I love that because whatever
you want to say about the Last Night, I don't
really care. I know that talking about that it's like
talking about religion. It's it's pointless. But the best thing
that movie did was that proved that anyone can be
a hero, anyone can be for sensitive and I love that.
And this show is kind of carrying that on in
a way that I think it was meant to. And

(45:14):
I love that, Like, I love that it's inspiring this
like it's it's kind of like Superman. It's inspiring that
feeling of hope and adventure and being like anyone can
make that call to adventure. And that's the best thing
about this show, in my opinion, is that, yes, it
is a different perspective and a new kind of quote
unquote genre for Star Wars, but the actual feeling of

(45:35):
it is Star Wars in a nutshell. You know. It's
Luke Skywalker wanting to get away from the moisture farm. Like,
that's this show, and I love that. Yeah, it's the hero,
the hero's journey, right, And I think that's what makes
it good, you know, even the fact that you know,
obviously there is a solid plan going into this, and
I know they've talked about doing a possible second series

(45:57):
and you know, kind of going along there'd be like
a time jump because obviously these kids are young and
they age very fast, as we've seen the Stranger Things, uh,
and it'll kind of go along with them as they
age up and stuff like that. So I mean that
could depending on where this ends, it could be a
very cool possibility to see where it goes. It's crazy
because it's like, I really have no idea where the

(46:17):
series is going other than they'll unveil this kind of
mystery of what AD is. But I have no fucking
clue what it could. Yeah, it's seriously like I'm my
at a loss performs. I have no theories. I think
it's just they're just termits.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
That's there's nothing, you know, like they they were off
hiding and stay staying safe from what was going on
and again Old Republic what was going on, and they're
just they're just chilling.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
They missed imperialism, you know, like they're fine. You know,
that would absally be a kind of weird best case
scenario that they're just like, now we're just staying out
of it. We're just you're just gonna have this peaceful,
nice life and everyone's gonna become analysts and fucking number
countries and that's fine.

Speaker 5 (47:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
Yeah, we're gonna do the great work of living in
a whole, keeping the whole nice. That that that's it.
That's a very optimistic look.

Speaker 3 (47:11):
I I think that would be I would I would
like that. And again, of course it's like, oh there's more.
They're gonna keep on covering stuff, and there's gonna be
some connection. But I think I think that'd be a
nice story, right, That's that's that's what we need.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
I agree. I do think we need more nice stories. Yeah,
I like when things get real. I can appreciate that,
but it's nice when things are nice. Yeah, nice, happy,
hopeful ending.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
I think I think they'll I mean definitely in the ending,
and there's gonna be not the ending, but like clearly
they're they're gonna be discovered by the larger galaxy because
there's no other way they're getting home, you know, So
we'll see implications they're already in the suburbs.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
They can't go downhill from there, right, I guess not.
I mean what we saw on Akron pretty yeah yeah yeah,
yeah yeah not the greatest. Go to Mad Max after that. Yeah,
it's like Star Wars kid Mad Max.

Speaker 5 (48:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (48:09):
You know, we value our children, so they're adults and
like that's that's a weird, weird take.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
Okay, yeah, they fight in a war. It's fine, Yeah,
they fight in a war.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
I took a wife who was a child and like, whoa, whoa, whoa,
whoa what show is this? Chris Hansen is popping out?

Speaker 2 (48:29):
You haven't seen? Yeah, oh man, Chris, thank you so
much for joining me and talking Star Wars, talking Superman's
been a blast. Thanks thanks for having me and and
you know, I've I've yet to do a do a
thing like this, a podcast, guest appearance things, so this

(48:49):
has been has been a fun experience. Awesome. I'm glad
before you go out here, please let the people know
what Theories has going on and let them know where
they can find you. All right, So, so, yeah, a Theorists.

Speaker 3 (49:02):
We are a instrumental progressive thrash whatever guitar now delely banned.
You can find us on yeah, all the streaming stuff.

Speaker 2 (49:12):
Just look up a theorious. We have our album that
just came out last month, Hymns of the Crimson Raven.
Got some videos, playthroughs, all that stuff. No tour stuff
just yet.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
We are playing a local show in Clifton, New Jersey

Speaker 2 (49:31):
Come on out to that.
