Speaker 1 (00:11):
Jim and Larmie is with us. He is the general
manager of the F one Plaza and if you come
for the Super Bowl, they'll be reopened for you so
you can enjoy the game in Las Vegas and enjoy
what it's like to drive like an F one driver.
Nice to meet you, first off, in.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Congratulations, Thank you so much, and thank you for being here.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
The cool thing about your attraction to me is that
it takes place where the heart of this Formula One
race is. So not only do you get to see
the quote unquote museum and that's an understatement, you get
to be where these drivers win.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Absolutely, so we have the interactive museum, but as you mentioned,
you get a b where the drivers are. So our
F one drive experience, the karting experience. You actually drive
through the team's garages on a go kart track that
we will build, and then you also get to go
on the actual Las Vegas Grand Prix track. It's a
great experience.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
In a go kart which anyone can drive or you
don't need any training or anything.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Nope, we have an age requirement of twelve and up.
I will tell you.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
All right, super so soon you know him, No, not yet,
but we will. I did get the opportunity to drive
one of your simulators in August when I was here
for Virtuoso Travel, and I have to tell you I've
been telling everybody. I got in, I started driving, I

(01:33):
look down and I'm on the Las Vegas track here.
I said, MPs, you're going eighty miles an hour. I said,
that's not what this is meant to do. But it
was so realistic. I inherently was afraid I was going
to crash.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
But yes, we have. We partnered with a company called
Event's House. They create these VR fives and they really
do state of the artwork, and they make it feel
like you're really immersed into the track.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Mind you, that's not the go kart, that's the simulator,
the simulator. But still it was only a simulator, and
it was so real and so the young fella says,
you know, you can drive it. It's gonna be okay.
So I did get it up to one eighty or so.
But after a little while, I was like, this is
really intense.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yes it does. Some people who get so intense, some
people just kind of raise their hand. They don't want
to come. They did that. Yeah, yeah, it's enough. It
makes you realize, like what the drivers go through, right,
it's your force.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah. And also I got the chance to change a tire. Yes, no,
I've done that on my own Chevy Blazer. But changing
enough one tire in less than two seconds is like
a miracle, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
That is well done, by the way. I didn't do it,
but they told me that's the record. Yes, So we
have to pissed Up challenge as part of the f
one x, which is the interactive museum where people can
come and change tires. It's a great, great team experience.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Thank you for making the successible and available to people
all year round in Las Vegas at the F one
Plaza where we're standing today for the race. Congratulations.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Oh, thank you so much, and thank you again for
being here.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
I'll buckle up, Simon promise and won't.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Be so scared.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Tony Cuthbert is the real F one fan. And I
just remember when cable first started and ESPN didn't have
too many sports to show, they showed Formula one racing,
and so I saw people like Nicki Lauder and others
around the world and it was something to watch. You though,
are now watching it every other weekend, and it's every

(03:24):
other weekend essentially through the air.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
For the most part, they take like a summer break,
let's say, so they're off for a month, but you
can expect to race every other week and no question.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
And you get up because they are at strange times,
because they are around the world. Yeah, and what is
the fascination compelling you to do this?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Honestly, the main reason I got into it is exactly
what you were talking about right there, is because it
was interesting to wake up on a Sunday morning at
six am and you could watch like a worldwide event
on ESPN and they'd be in these exotic locations. Especially,
I mean they go to the standard tracks in Europe,
some of those you've been to and they're cool. But
when you bring in the likes of I don't. I mean,

(04:02):
the Australia Race is super cool. They go to Japan,
they go to Bahrain, or just anywhere around the world.
And then the Monaco Race of course, is just it's
eye candy, all of it. And especially with this weekend
with a ten pm Eastern time, that's when it's going
to start on Saturday night with all the glitz and
glamor of Las Vegas. It's it's really fun to watch.

(04:23):
And I mean sometimes some of these races I can
understand maybe they're a little bit boring, but if you
learn the drivers and learn the science behind everything, it's
something to get into. It's fun.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
What kind of people are these drivers? Some of them
are even knighted.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well Sir Lewis Hamilton. Of course he's the most famous
driver on the circuit, and I wouldn't say he's the
most successful. At this point in time. He had a
string of championships. It just seemed like each and every year,
and then Max Verstapping caught him in the final race
of the season and won the championship that year and
Lewis Hamilton, for whatever reason, has never been the same
since losing that race. He won a race last year,

(05:00):
the British Grand Prix. It was a massive event. It
was final year with Mercedes, it was everybody was all
about that. And then he makes that switch to Ferrari,
which was a shocker. And he's there now and he's
still I would say, the most popular racer, but not
necessarily a podium finisher anymore. To put it in their words.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
We waited and essentially what was like a red carpet
situation where the drivers were arriving for work and there
were other media there too, and there were you know,
some Elvis impersonators and showgirls and they all wanted them
to stop for a quick picture. And we saw it
just about every one of the drivers and some of
the owners and the driver we didn't see, but we

(05:40):
did catch when we went outside the gates was a
sneaky fellow who went in the back door.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, it was Sir Lewis Hamilton, and he had it
mapped out, apparently because there was a secret entrance and
that's where he got into so he could avoid all
the fanfare of the photographers. But I give some of
the driver's credit. They would play it up with Elvis,
and then at one point the younger drivers, I think
his name is Ali Berman or something like that, he

(06:05):
walked in and the Elvis impersonator tried to like maneuver
him to get a picture, and then the Elvis impersonator
actually kind of grabbed him by the arm, and the
young racer just kind of pushed him away and got
on his way. I guess I.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Thought it was sort of touching. I forget I think
it was last year's winner.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
George Russell. Mercedes showed up.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
And he saw all of us waiting for him, not
to mention the Elvis people and the show of girls
and the whole calamity of it, and he stopped and
pulled out his camera and took his own picture like
he thought it was cool.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
He loved it. He was soaking it all in. I
don't know where he posted or if he's gonna post it,
but you would see the throng of media. And then
he got those pictures. And then they gave each driver
that actually showed up some type of medallion. It was
a big poker chip.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Oh yeah, with their name and number yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
And I don't know if they took it, but they
had a different one for each driver. It was pretty cool,
quite a welcome for them.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
And all of this.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
You saw Lewis Hamilton while you had one in an
outburger in one hand and one in the other.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
I'll remember my first in and out burger standing there
watching Louis Hamilton. Pretty sweet.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
You won't forget Las Vegas, of course, or the Formula
one race, and so if you want to watch it
in Michigan, it's Saturday.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
What time Saturday ten pm on ESPN.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
MPs on a fire Keeper's Casino Friday through the AT
and T Microphones with Tony Cuthberts, It's Formula one Racing.
