Speaker 1 (00:01):
About you.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
That's all the Octopher.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Wood, the King of rock and roll, Elvis, the King
of Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well that's unless you're counting Dennis much More, the senior
advisor with the Honigmann firm. He was chief of staff
for Governor Rick Snyder, and he makes frequent visits to
get his fire keepers on in Las Vegas. And the
next couple of days, Tony Cuthbert and I will be
there broadcasting from the Formula One race, and so I
thought maybe Dennis much More. You know, he gives advice

(00:48):
to a lot of people, including myself, but he might
be able to advise Tony Cuthbert on his assault on
Las Vegas. Though we are going to be very busy
with media events. We're going to speak with people from
the Ford Motor Company, for instance, and Dennis. We're going
to stay at a place called The d which is
not on the Strip. It's downtown, owned by a Detroiter,

(01:10):
Derek Stevens, who also developed Circa across the streets, and
there are lots of touches of Michigan and Detroit in
that casino. Have you spent much time downtown?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah, a little bit. Once in a while. We go
into the d when my buddies and I go out there,
which is really only twice a year or so. It's
not like we go out there every week, but it's
you know, it's all Detroit themed and it's kind of
a cool place, and I enjoyed. It's kind of fun
to be a downtown once.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
So while there is going to be there was a
Andiamo restaurant in there. There in the circa, there's a
Paul Saginaw is one of the founders of Zingerman's, has
a deli. And also there's an American Coney Island for
you know, late night soakup, if you know what I mean.
And then a place called Bar Canada. You could watch
hockey and get a hold of a Mulsoon Canadian or

(02:03):
a the Bat's Blue or any other those sort of
border beers that we could get in Detroit while we
were watching Channel nine and Don Cherry on Hockey Night
in Canada.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah, the old days of you know, our relationship with
the Canadians slipped a little bit with the assault our
leader on Canada, but for most of us, we have
a great deal of respect and love for the Canadians
and what they stand for and the interaction we have

(02:37):
between them is exceptional. So we you know, I count
myself amongst the all of the Canadians.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I know that's very important to you. You've had very
strong political relationships with the Canadians, in particular in the
development of the Gordie Howe Bridge across from Detroit there
to connect Windsor that's going to open, I guess in
early six.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Yeah, that's that's my understanding. I mean, they you know,
they've spent well, it's been in formulation for twenty five
years and so you know, it's been under construction till
the last eight or nine, and so I think they'll
they'll get it right, and they'll they'll put it together
as best they can, and it's it's a great project

(03:26):
forged by the Canadians and funded by them, and I
think that we're very fortunate to have had that kind
of a lifestyle spin with the Canadians, and I think
they will always be the connection because of that bridge.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Cadillac is returning to Formula one racing, and so is Ford.
We'll be speaking with the racing executive from Ford when
we are there in Las Vegas for that Formula one race,
and of course Michigan International Speedway very important to the
economy in Michigan and the tourism element there and the
fire keepers because see, you know, four hundred. So therefore,
we've also been keeping in touch and interviewing Paul Gentilozi,

(04:06):
one of the great racing legends and now one of
the sort of legends of real estate when it comes
to the city of Lansing.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, Paulie has been a very accomplished racer for many,
many years, and he and his wife have spent a
lot of time and a lot of their money, and
now their sons are you know, kind of taken over
the head of the of that operation, and it's a

(04:36):
wonderful situation. The Genealozi real estate and the Genealosi name
is at the very front of auto racing in the
United States and internationally.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
We are also going to go over to see a
place called the F one Arcade, which is in the
Forum shops at Caesar's where they have simulators, and Paul
was telling us how important those simulators are to the
real life racers these days, because the cars are so
expensive that practicing in them, you know, can be create
a certain amount of peril. So we look forward to

(05:10):
the F one Arcade and I suggested to the lady
who operates it, I said, it's the only place that
I can think of where you can drink and drive
sort of virtually.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Right, Well, we don't want to encourage that, that's for sure, in.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
The simulator, not behind the wheel, that's for sure. And
I don't know if you've ever gone over to Resorts World,
but they're having a fan pre and we're going to
have a look at that too, Tony Cupper at a
place called Garage twenty eight, and that famous racer that
you mentioned is going to make an appearance and we're
going to hope to get a hold of him, and

(05:48):
we're there.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, his name is Roman Grojan And if you ever
watched that Drive or Survive show, they did multiple episodes
on him because he was in one of the scariest
crashes that I have seen as a fan of F one.
I don't know where. It was an Abu Dhabi or something,
and he hit the wall and the whole car burst
into flames and they didn't know what was going on,
and then all of a sudden, before any of the

(06:10):
medical personnel could get there, he merged in a ball
of fire and they put him out and he had
severe burns on his hands, but he walked away and
was seemingly okay. It was wild.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah, pretty dangerous business.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
That'll be over at Resorts World. And you know a
guy who probably has kitchen hands, Wolfgang Puck, we're going
to talk to too. He's going to be there with
about man. It looks like sixteen celebrity chefs tennis, and
they're going to stand on the roof atop of Bellaggio
Fountain Club and have a giant champagne toast to the
Formula one race. And we're talking about people like Jose

(06:45):
Andreas and Jean George and Michael Mina all in one
spot with Mario Calbone and David Chang and Wolfgang Puck himself.
Are you hungry yet?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Well? Yeah, yeah. You really encouraged place enthusiasm for the
for the race with that lineup of chefs. It'll and
they're all operating in Vegas and so you can you
can go to one of their restaurants almost every day.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Drive carefully. Denis much more is helping to drive the
Michigan economy by advising people to navigate the legislature and
he's doing so at the Hanigmann firm after advising Governor
Rick Snider as his chief of staff. It's MPs through
the AT and T microphones. When it comes to healthcare costs,
we often focus on one thing, our insurance premiums. But

(07:35):
what if we're only seeing part of the picture. The
truth is our health insurance costs reside downstream at the
end of the cost equation. But to really understand what's
driving up costs, we need to look upstream to the
healthcare system itself. Upstream, there are costs like the price
is charged by hospitals and doctors, and the cost of
prescription drugs, healthcare administration, and technology. These costs flow downstream

(08:01):
directly into your health insurance premium. That's why Blue Cross
Blue Shield of Michigan is advocating for a system wide
solution to address the rising cost of healthcare. Blue Cross
knows that healthcare is personal, needs to work for everyone,
and affordability matters, and that starts with shedding light on
the entire cost equation, from upstream costs to downstream premiums.
