Speaker 1 (00:05):
Live across the Great Lake State. You're connected to Michigan's
most engaging and influential radio and television program, Michigan's Big
Show starring Michael Patrick Shields, presented by Blue Cross, Blue
Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I'm producer and creative director Tony Cuthberts.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Now in the shadow of the Capitol Dome and Lansing.
He's heard from the beaches of Lake Michigan, to the
halls of power and behind closed doors. Here's Michigan's Michael
Patrick Shields.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Thank you, Michael. Good to be with you, and it'd
be with somebody who who knows the big names of Michigan.
JP McCarthy, Dick.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
You've worked with the great ones.

Speaker 5 (00:43):
Desfe to quickly thank you for the program that you
do here because I get to get advices on everything
from wine to wear, the golf and now legal it.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
But you gotta do a great job.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
We see this dude every day, I mean every day
barbeque would this dude, We eat ribs.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
And whatnot and listen to sault and nothing exciting about him.

Speaker 7 (01:02):
Well until the day.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Michael Patrick Shields is aler.

Speaker 8 (01:08):
Good morning world, Good morning Michigan. A very pleasant fire
keeper's casino Friday to you through the AT and T microphones.
It's Michael Patrick Shields from the end of the road,
at the top of the world with a tail well
calculated to keep you in suspense. And we are thirty

(01:29):
stories above Las Vegas at the Formula one Grand Prix.
The world has come here as the Formula One racing
season starts to wind down, but not before it goes
down the Las Vegas Strip under the lights and between
the neon. And with that comes next year, Ford Motor
Company and Cadillac joining the racing and we're going to

(01:51):
catch up with all of that coming up. And also
Paul Gentilosi from Michigan at Lancing, himself a successful race
car driver. Jeff gil Albert will be here from WWJ.
He's the automotive reporter there for many many years. And
the Los Angeles Auto Show is going on at the
same time. Paul Eisenstein from Headlight News too will talk

(02:12):
cars with us, and some other surprise guests along the way,
and some Detroiters who decided to plant their flag here
in Las Vegas. In twenty twenty three, Max for stapp
and driving for the Red Bull team was the winner.
In twenty twenty four it was Mercedes George Russell who won.
And this is a three point eight mile track with

(02:35):
fifty laps and seventeen corners. The entire race is one
hundred and ninety two point six miles long counterclockwise for
what it's worth. And the highest speed ever achieved in
this race was last year in twenty twenty four, two
one hundred and twenty nine point two miles, and that's
the fastest speed in any F one race since twenty nineteen.

(02:59):
The fastest lap was Lando Noorris last year driving for
McLaren one minute thirty four seconds. And then some decimals
that I don't understand because I have fuzzy math. We
got a chance to see the pit yesterday and what
they call the paddock, and we have the fastest ever
pit stop one minute and ninety no, yeah, one second,

(03:23):
one second. Tony Cuppert says, that can't possibly be true.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's amazing.

Speaker 8 (03:28):
One point nine to nine seconds. Well in twenty twenty three.
And in terms of overtakes, I know that's important to you,
Tony Cuppert, because you study this one hundred and eighty
one overtakes in twenty twenty three at.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
This race, that's not surprising. I mean, with these these
cars tooling around this track, there is a lot of
open space, especially where that top CHI speed was achieved.
You have an opportunity to pass there. And if you
haven't watched F one and you hear that one just
under two seconds on a tire change and all of that,
if you see the NASCAR circuit, it's way different because
those guys are going from one side of the car

(04:06):
to the other. On an F one pit crew they
have like fifteen people that are out there at one time,
so that's how they can achieve such a record time
in two seconds.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Geeze.

Speaker 8 (04:17):
Now they at some point. The World Drivers' Championship is
given away in the course of a season. As I
understand it learning about this last year, it happened here,
meaning I guess you collect enough points for Max Verstappen
to win the Drivers' Championship for the fourth time, and
it happened here.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
It did, and he didn't win the race, so it's
always kind of a goofy celebration. It was, as you said,
George Russell, he won the race, but Max for staff
and secured the title. So that's where the celebration was,
not really with the winner circle with George Russell.

Speaker 8 (04:47):
It's a major media operation with people from around the world,
and there are big screens that display even the track
temperature twenty five point nine, air temperature for teen point
zero obviously that's celsius, and the humidity and the wind
speed and all that sort of thing. Is this is,

(05:08):
I guess, a combination of well, I know, a combination
of science and art.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
It sure is, and we witnessed it or you will
witness it here at any time, especially with the weather
being variable. It was chili last night, and the cars
act differently when it comes to that, and it's going
to be chilly throughout the weekend, and you think about
it with these racers this weekend in Las Vegas, and
then next weekend they're in Qatar, so I think we're
gonna have a little bit of a change from the
what was it low fifties last night what they were

(05:35):
racing in.

Speaker 8 (05:36):
We are headquartered at the d Hotel, which stands in
part for Detroit, in part for the name of Derek Stevens,
the owner from Detroit who started his career as a
valet downtown Detroit and ended up being a billionaire with
this hotel and Circa across the street. And when you
checked in yesterday at the front desk, Tony Cuthbert, what

(05:57):
was the biggest surprise.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
In the early am I greeted with a I want
to say glass, not exactly, but it was Molson Canadian MPs.
What more can anybody ask for?

Speaker 9 (06:08):
It?

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Out of a tap? And it was delightful.

Speaker 8 (06:11):
Check into the hotel, they hand you your room key
and they pour you a Molson in a plastic cup,
and that is some kind of welcome. And I've been
to a lot of hotels in the world, and there
have been some, to be fair, where they give you,
you know, a glass of champagne right this way, but
a beer right there was pretty cool. And of course
we have the other touches of Detroit here, Jovacari's Andiamo Steakhouse.

(06:33):
If you want to feel like you're at home is
right here, and also the American Coney Island is here too.
Paul Saginaw's Delhi, the founder of Zingerman's, is at Circa
across the street, and there is Bar Canada, where it'd
be a really good place to watch a hockey game,
and they have all the Canadian beers you could possibly
ever want. Any other impressions from yesterday, we attended what

(06:55):
was essentially the red carpet of Formula One drivers as
they all showed up for work in a very glamorous way.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
It's glamorous. It's a circus with all of the media
and the photographers just trying to get a glimpse. There
were what five Elvis impersonators. Each of them looked a
little bit different, but they were on point. Different show girls.
Everybody got a nice greeting. Celebrity chefs were walking throughout there.
Other people that I assume were athletes. They didn't really
have any name tags that would display that, but it

(07:24):
was something to see a lot of it is. I mean,
we had people standing up on how can we say
this delicately? I want to say a pole And then
they were flying back and forth.

Speaker 8 (07:34):
You know, you're thinking it's Las Vegas and you're thinking
these are poll dancers. They were acrobats, Yeah, flying up
through the air, and so the entertainment element here is
really something. Derek Stevens, by the way, went to the
University of Michigan and Wayne State University and then he
did end up taking over his father's auto parts manufacturing company,

(07:57):
and he still lives in Detroit and comes back and
forth here to Las Vegas where we are right now
for the ground Prix where it's taking place. The actual race,
by the way, is Saturday, and the qualifying is today,
and you bet it's right down the strip. We'll talk
about everything from the gourmet cotton candy to the Heineken beer,

(08:18):
to the opportunity for you to be in a simulator
and race like one of the racers. I know, if
you're driving to work right now, you can even take
it easy. They also have, believe it or not, a
wedding chapel right on site, and they have a pink
Cadillac made of Legos that's right at the racetrack. If

(08:39):
you're in the paddock club, and if you are, I
salute you because that's pure champagne luxury. Tony Cuthbert is here.
It's Michael Patrick, Shields alex Hewart at the controls of

NBC is revealing the star studied lineup of performers for
this year's Christmas and Rockefeller Center musical guests include Halle Valley,
Brad Paisley, Michael Boublay, Carly Pearce, s, Gwen Stefani, and
Mark Anthony, among others. As previously announced, Reba McIntyre will
make her debut as host of this year special. NBC

(11:23):
will celebrate the holiday season with the annual lining of
a large Christmas tree in the heart of New York
City with the Christmas and Rockefeller Centers Special in December.
It airs at eight pm Eastern Time on NBC and
simulcast on Peacock. Three major music labels have signed licensing
deals with an artificial intelligence music company.

Speaker 13 (11:43):
Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment
have signed with clay Vision, a move the startup claims
will help further evolve music experiences for fans, leveraging the
potential of AI while fully respecting the rights of artists,
songwriters and rights holders. Company uses an interactive tool trained
on licensed music to, in the company's words, reimagine listening.

(12:06):
I'm Tammy Truhio, I've heard.

Speaker 12 (12:12):
Wicked for Good is looking to become the year's biggest
debut as it lands in theaters this weekend. The sequel
film is expected to bring in between one hundred and
fifty and one hundred and.

Speaker 14 (12:23):
Eighty million dollars. That's entertainment. I'm Jaqueline, Carl.

Speaker 15 (12:40):
Jim, and Larmie is with us. He is the general
manager of the F one Plaza and if you come
for the Super Bowl, they'll be reopened for you so
you can enjoy the game in Las Vegas and enjoy
what it's like to drive like an F one driver.
Nice to meet you first off, in congratulations, Thank.

Speaker 16 (12:55):
You so much, and thank you for being here.

Speaker 15 (12:57):
The cool thing about your attraction to me is that
it takes place where the heart of this Formula one
race is. So not only do you get to see
the quote unquote museum, and that's an understatement, you get
to be where these drivers win. Absolutely so we have
the interactive museum, but as you mentioned, you get a
b where the drivers are. So our F one drive experience,
the karting experience. You actually drive through the team's garages

(13:20):
on the go kart track that we will build, and
then you also get to go on the actual Las
Vegas Grand Prix track.

Speaker 16 (13:26):
It's a great experience.

Speaker 15 (13:27):
In a souped up go car which anyone can drive,
or you don't need any training or anything. Nope, we
have an age requirement of twelve and up. I will
tell you.

Speaker 8 (13:41):
All right, super so soon you know him?

Speaker 16 (13:47):
No, not yet, but we will.

Speaker 8 (13:51):
I did get the opportunity to drive one of your
simulators in August when I was here for Virtual so Travel,
And I have to tell you I've been telling everybody.
I got in, I started driving. I look down and
I'm on the Las Vegas track here. I said, MPs,
you're going eighty miles an hour. I said, that's not
what this is meant to do. But it was so realistic.

(14:11):
I inherently was afraid I was going to crash.

Speaker 16 (14:15):
But yes, we have.

Speaker 15 (14:17):
We partnered with a company called the Ben's House. They
create these VR fives and they really do state of
the artwork and they.

Speaker 16 (14:22):
Make it feel like you're really immersed into the track.

Speaker 8 (14:25):
Mind you, that's not the go kart, that's the simulator,
the simulator. But still it was only a simulator, and
it was so real and so the young fella says,
you know, you can drive it.

Speaker 15 (14:34):
It's gonna be okay. So I did get it up
to one eighty or so. But after a little while
I was like, this is really intense. Yes, it does
some people who get so intense, some people just kind
of raise their hand they don't want to come.

Speaker 17 (14:47):
I did that.

Speaker 16 (14:47):
Yeah, yeah, it's like it's enough.

Speaker 15 (14:49):
It makes you realize, like what the drivers go through, right,
it's your force.

Speaker 9 (14:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (14:54):
And also I got the chance to change a tire.

Speaker 17 (14:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (14:57):
No, I've done that on my own Chevy Blazer. But
change enough one tire in less than two seconds.

Speaker 17 (15:03):
It's like a miracle, isn't it.

Speaker 15 (15:04):
That is well done, by the way, I didn't do it,
but they told me that's the record.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Yes.

Speaker 15 (15:09):
So we have to Pissed Up Challenge as part of
the F one x, which is the interactive museum where
people can come and change tires.

Speaker 16 (15:15):
It's a great, great team experience.

Speaker 15 (15:17):
Thank you for making the successible and available to people
all year round in Las Vegas at the F one
Plaza where we're standing today for the race. Congratulations.

Speaker 16 (15:25):
Oh, thank you so much, and thank you again for
being here.

Speaker 15 (15:27):
I'll buckle up next, Simon promise and won't be so scared.

Speaker 8 (15:31):
Tony Cuthbert is the real F one fan, and I
just remember when the cable first started and ESPN didn't
have too many sports to show, they showed Formula one
racing and so I saw people like Niki Lauder and
others around the world and it was something to watch.
You though, are now watching it every other weekend. It's

(15:52):
every other weekend essentially through the year.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
For the most part. They take like a summer break,
let's say, so they're off for a month, but you
can expect a race every other week, no question.

Speaker 8 (16:00):
And you get up because they are at strange times,
because they are around the world. Yeah, and what is
the fascination compelling you to do this?

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Honestly, the main reason I got into it is exactly
what you were talking about right there, is because it
was interesting to wake up on a Sunday morning at
six am and you could watch like a worldwide event
on ESPN and they'd be in these exotic locations, especially,
I mean, they go to the standard tracks in Europe,
some of those you've been to, and they're cool. But
when you bring in the likes of I don't. I mean,

(16:31):
the Australia Race is super cool. They go to Japan,
they go to bah Rain, or just anywhere around the world.
And then the Monaco race, of course, is just it's
eye candy, all of it, and especially with this weekend
with a ten pm Eastern time, that's when it's going
to start on Saturday night, with all the glitz and
glamor of Las Vegas. It's really fun to watch. And

(16:52):
I mean sometimes some of these races I can understand
maybe they're a little bit boring, but if you learn
the drivers and learn the science behind everything, it's something
to get into. It's fun.

Speaker 8 (17:03):
What kind of people are these drivers? Some of them
are even knighted.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Most Sir Lewis Hamilton. Of course, he's the most famous
driver on the circuit, and I wouldn't say he's the
most successful. At this point in time, he had a
string of championships. It just seemed like each and every year,
and then Max Forstapping caught him in the final race
of the season and won the championship that year and
Lewis Hamilton, for whatever reason, has never been the same
since losing that race. He won a race last year,

(17:29):
the British Grand Prix. It was a massive event. It
was final year with Mercedes, it was everybody was all
about that, and then he makes that switch to Ferrari,
which was a shocker. And he's there now and he's
still i would say, the most popular racer, but not
necessarily a podium finisher anymore. To put it in their.

Speaker 8 (17:47):
Words, we waited and essentially what was like a red
carpet situation where the drivers were arriving for work and
there were other media there too, and there were you know,
some Elvis impersonators and showgirls and they want I wanted
them to stop for a quick picture. And we saw
it just about every one of the drivers and some
of the owners and the driver we didn't see, but

(18:08):
we did catch when we went outside the gates was
a sneaky fellow who went in the back door.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Yeah, it was Sir Lewis Hamilton, and he had it
mapped out apparently because there was a secret entrance and
that's where he got into so he could avoid all
the fanfare of the photographers. But I give some of
the driver's credit. They would play it up with Elvis.
And then at one point one of the younger drivers,
I think his name is Ali Berman or something like that,

(18:34):
he walked in and the Elvis impersonator tried to maneuver
him to get a picture, and then the Elvis impersonator
actually kind of grabbed him by the arm, and the
young racer just kind of pushed him away and got
on his way.

Speaker 8 (18:47):
I guess I thought it was sort of touching. I
forget I think it was last year's.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Winner, George Russell Mercedes showed.

Speaker 8 (18:53):
Up and he saw all of us waiting for him,
not to mention the Elvis people and the show of
girls and the whole calamity of it, and he stopped
and pulled out his camera and took his own picture
like he thought it was cool.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
He loved it. He was soaking it all in. I
don't know where he posted or if he's gonna post it,
but it's you would see the throng of media. And
then he got those pictures. And then they gave each
driver that actually showed up some type of medallion. It
was a big poker chip.

Speaker 8 (19:17):
Oh yeah, with their name and number yeah, And I don't.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Know if they took it, but they had a different
one for each river. It was pretty cool, quite a
welcome for them.

Speaker 8 (19:23):
And all of this. You saw Lewis Hamilton while you
had one in and out cheeburger and one hand and
one in the other.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
I'll remember my first in and out burger standing there
watching Lewis Hamilton. Pretty sweet.

Speaker 8 (19:35):
You won't forget Las Vegas, of course, or the Formula
one race. And so if you want to watch it
in Michigan, it's Saturday.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
What time Saturday, ten pm on ESPN.

Speaker 8 (19:46):
MPs on a fire Keeper's Casino Friday through the AT
and T microphones with Tony Cuthberts, It's Formula one racing.
Buckle up.

Speaker 18 (19:59):
Shaken baby syndrome is widely accepted among doctors, but now
the New Jersey Supreme Court is banning testimony about it.
It's the first court in the US to bar prosecutors
from blaming unexplained head trauma in criminal and custody cases.
Its six to one ruling, release Thursday, calls expert testimony
about shaken baby syndrome unreliable and therefore inadmissible in court.

(20:22):
The decision upholds lower court rulings in New Jersey that
call shaken baby syndrome junk science. This despite a twenty
eighteen consensus statement about its validity that's backed by the
American Academy of Pediatrics. The CDC says eight more infants
have been hospitalized due to a bochelist amount break linked
to by heart whole nutrition infant formula. Thirty one infants

(20:44):
across fifteen states have been hospitalized. Botulism symptoms include constipation,
poor feeding, and difficulties swallowing, which can progress to respiratory difficulties.
Health Update. I'm Sarah le Kessler.

Speaker 8 (21:01):
At Meyer. You get more of the things you want most,
More local produce, more home decor, more free prescriptions. More importantly,
you've got them all for less admire Why would you
pay more. We got a shout out yesterday for business
leaders for Michigan from Matt Hall, Speaker of the House,
and that was pretty cool. That's because he knows it's
a well an ambitious goal. They have the leaders of

(21:25):
the big companies and universities in Michigan to make Michigan
a top ten state for jobs, talents, and a thriving economy.
We're not quite there yet, are we. The Lord has
given me a well instructed tongue to know the word
that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning,
and you can wake up this morning speaking of prosperity.

(21:46):
By joining Americans for Prosperity, the nation's largest grassroots organization
fighting to reignite the American dream and help secure the
border and end inflation and make energy more affordable. Visit
Americans for Prosperity dot org and get involved. Today, I
saw the President wants to charge Senator Alyssa. Slotkin with treason,

(22:07):
which could mean hanging, and the world got all cranked
up about that and said, how can we handle another
three years of Donald Trump saying things like this just
par for the course another Friday in Michigan and in
the United States on all counts, because he was cranked
up because the Senator and a bunch of other people
made a video criticizing him recently this week. So he's

(22:30):
adopted a strategy where, you know, instead of sitting back
and taking it, he's going to give it back.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Now.

Speaker 8 (22:35):
Did he go too far to suggest that it's treason us?
I suppose, But when has he not gone too far?
He's in a New York state of mind, and he
knows there's no business like show business. Reliable Power keeps

don't forget the Mega millions and the Powerball lottery tickets.
And you can get those tickets at Meyer or any
of the lottery retailers across the state of Michigan. Drawings

Speaker 7 (24:01):
NBC News Radio.

Speaker 19 (24:02):
I'm Scott Carr, New York City Mayor elect zoron mam
Donnie heads to Washington today where he'll meet with President Trump.
Mam Donnie says, despite their differences, he'll work with Trump
to take on what he calls the cost of living
crisis and any agenda that will help New Yorkers. Trump
and Mom Donnie have been critical of each other, with
Trump threatening to withhold federal funds from New York if

(24:23):
Mom Donnie won the mayoral election. The mayor elect says
it should be about a relationship between New York City
and the White House, not individuals. The White House says
President Trump does not want a group of Democrats to
be put to death, despite a post from President Trump
saying a group of Democrats should be tried for seditious
behavior punishable by death, referring to a group of lawmakers,

(24:45):
most of them former military, who made a video telling
current members of the military to ignore orders issued by
Trump if they are illegal. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt responded.

Speaker 20 (24:56):
That is a very very dangerous mesh message, and it
perhaps is punishable by law, encouraging them to defy the
president's lawful orders. The sanctity of our military rests on
the chain of command.

Speaker 19 (25:11):
Levitt claims the message could incite violence and insurrection. An
appeals court is temporarily blocking the release of several hundred
people detained by immigration agents in the Chicago area. The
ruling Thursday stopped in earlier order calling for the release
of those detainees. The group in custody includes many arrested
as part of Operation Midway Blitz. Travelers trying to go

(25:33):
through airport security without a real ID or passport could
be charged in eighteen dollars fee. TSA says that money
would then go toward the cost of an alternative identity
verification program that uses biometric data to verify identity. The
TSA published a notice about the proposal Thursday, but no
start dates been given.

Speaker 7 (25:54):
Scott car NBC News Radio.

Speaker 21 (25:56):
Social media company Blue Sky since it's updating a modernation
process to better enforce their policies, the company wants to

Speaker 22 (26:55):
I'm Mark Mayfield, Hello Detroit, you.

Speaker 23 (27:10):
Up fronts.

Speaker 9 (27:14):
Well.

Speaker 15 (27:14):
I'm walking down the street and I see American Coney
Island and I duck in there, and I see Jovacari's
Andiamo and then I see Bar Canada and there's a
hockey stick with moleson Canadian and the bats blue.

Speaker 17 (27:27):
And I thought, am I in Detroit?

Speaker 8 (27:30):
And I'm not.

Speaker 15 (27:31):
I'm in Las Vegas, and so is Chris Sodoropolis, who's
running at least one of these businesses.

Speaker 17 (27:37):
And more in Las Vegas.

Speaker 15 (27:38):
Where you've brought Michigan in Detroit with a Lansing background
to business here it's been over a decade now, hasn't it.

Speaker 9 (27:45):
Yeah, we've been here now in Las Vegas for twelve years.
So yeah, it's been a great twelve years here at
the Beep, you know, here on Fremont Street.

Speaker 17 (27:53):
So the hotel is called the D. We're broadcasting this
week for the F one race.

Speaker 15 (27:58):
The name the D, he implies Detroit, but it's not
necessarily Detroit exclusive.

Speaker 9 (28:03):
How do you explain this? So the D has a
lot of different meanings. You know, obviously it has homage
Detroit because you know, we're here, and so is Andiago's.
But also he has homage to the downtown, you know,
for downtown Premonstra. And also the guy who brought us
all here, Derek, you know, his nickname's d So you
know the D.

Speaker 15 (28:22):
And I can get a Zingerman's coffee around the corner here,
or go up and see our man there at Circa
Paul sagan On, one of the Zingerman's founders, who has
that deli there.

Speaker 17 (28:31):
So you make us feel at home here.

Speaker 8 (28:33):
But how did the idea and I'm sure you've told
the story a million times, but how did the idea
come about that you would be here?

Speaker 17 (28:39):
Did they come looking for you.

Speaker 9 (28:41):
Yeah, so they actually came up to us. You know,
I wasn't always part of the family business. Grace was
always at the leader of the helm. And one day
Derek walked in at American Cony Island, introduced himself to Grace, says, hey,
my name is Derek Stevens. I'm doing this in Vegas.
I love you guys. You know my dead on me here,
I bring my kids here. You guys are a staple.

(29:03):
You know, we're doing it in Vegas and we want
you guys to be part of it. And you know,
next thing, you know, he's flying Grace out. I was
in California working for another company traveling. Grace calls me
up and says, I want to do it, but I
need help. And that's where I kind of jumped in
kind of thing because I was already in the aspects
of you know, franchise or kind of thing, but with
this is not a franchise. This his own but like,

(29:25):
you know, running teaching people how to run their restaurants
from afarm.

Speaker 15 (29:28):
So you're like Michael Corleone, you thought you were out
and they pulled you back in pretty much.

Speaker 9 (29:33):
You know, that was my whole goal. You know my
entire life. I grew up in the restaurant in history.
I miss Saturdays as a kid. You know, my son
who's nine now, you know, I was nine years old
and I was busting tables and serving coffee all day
and I didn't get to watch cartoons and all that.
And I grew up with it. An undergrad, you know,
worked in restaurants. And then after college I was out.
I worked in the Middle East. I had a great

(29:56):
job working for the royal family, and then that kind
of became absolutely after nine to eleven and started working
doing franchising and like with these guys for a Peter
Sandwich franchise. And then I was about to be out again.
I was gonna take a job as a VP of
Toys R. S International in Jersey. Oh and then my

(30:16):
sister you didn't do that international Solar on so you
never know, is it? Yeah?

Speaker 15 (30:20):
But Mike wasn't the guy from the Wolverines, the athletic director.

Speaker 22 (30:24):
Did he work there?

Speaker 15 (30:25):
Or did I dream that at Toys r David Brandon?
Didn't he go over there for a while?

Speaker 9 (30:29):
Think he did? Yeah? So I don't know. I don't
follow Michigan Sports.

Speaker 17 (30:33):
Didn't you go to Michigan, Michigan State.

Speaker 15 (30:35):
Yeah, I'm a sparty, got to correct you're wiki, Yeah,
I'm a sparty Wayne.

Speaker 17 (30:40):
State after that?

Speaker 15 (30:41):
Right, No, I just oh, you know what I'm thinking
of Derek Stevens as we say, that's a different guy,
you know, the owner of this whole thing. Isn't that
a point of contention with you being a Spartan? Then
he's a wolverine.

Speaker 9 (30:51):
Yeah, but you know it's one of those sings. He
supports all Michigan sports. He's got you know, either Michigan,
Michigan State, Western, all this.

Speaker 8 (31:00):
Well, did you go to the White House this week?
The Saudi Prince MBS was there. It worked for him,
didn't you.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
That was eons ago. So now I just focus on
hot dogs, hot dogs, burgers and wings. You know, that's
pretty much my costs on right now.

Speaker 17 (31:11):
Well, they weren't serving that in Saudi Arabia.

Speaker 9 (31:14):
Yeah, now, but that was back in my supply chain days.

Speaker 17 (31:16):
So yeah, wow, that's fascinating.

Speaker 8 (31:19):
What can you share one anecdote of what it was
like to work in Saudi Arabia?

Speaker 17 (31:23):
With Saudi Arabia, it was great, you.

Speaker 9 (31:26):
Know, it's one of those things they treated I was
Outsider treated me really well. So yeah, no complaints, you know.

Speaker 17 (31:33):
What an adventurer.

Speaker 15 (31:34):
Now, Grace comes on the program quite a bit, your sister,
Grace Caros, And is it odd for you to be
outside of Detroit on Thanksgiving Day when the parade and
the Lions.

Speaker 17 (31:44):
Are you going back?

Speaker 9 (31:44):
Here's the thing, I actually still live in Detroit. I
live in Northville. I because you know, we have two
other restaurants, you know, you Paul Saganaw. You mentioned about
the Saginaw's Eli. Also I started Victory Burger and Wings
the sports park there that we have a lot of
heritage to Michigan. You know, we use Wolverine meats and
different things and fresh product that we get shipped. And

(32:06):
also you know up there at stadium, sim swim the
concessions there with Paul, he's on partners with him on that.
But I actually live in Northville. I'm an. I come
down here about one week a month check on everything.

Speaker 24 (32:20):
You know.

Speaker 9 (32:20):
I got my team here, I got every location, you know,
we got managers, we got a director who kind of
has been with me, my right hand man for the
last twelve years. And yeah, I come back and forth.
You know, I spend about ten days a month here
and the rest of my time in downtown with Grace
or you know, you don't.

Speaker 15 (32:34):
Want to raise a family in Las Vegas. That's one
of those things, you know, I got you. I love Michigan.

Speaker 9 (32:40):
You know, I love Detroit, and you know, Northfield's got
one of the best school districts in the state and country,
and that's where you know what kind of raise my
kids up at soil Give us a little you know,
we're living the high life this week with the Formula
One race and the Flying Circus comes to town as
they do in places like the.

Speaker 17 (32:58):
Middle East, for instance.

Speaker 15 (33:00):
But when you are at Circa at Stadium Swim, and
Circa is owned by Derek Stevens as well as the
d where we're sitting right now in an American Coney Island,
believe it or not.

Speaker 17 (33:10):
When Stadium Swim, when.

Speaker 15 (33:12):
You're there, you're going over there maybe to oversee the operation,
check in on things when it's at its finest.

Speaker 17 (33:18):
So describe the scene.

Speaker 9 (33:20):
See, well, just like any other day club you'd see
on people on vacation. You know, you got about four
thousand plus people all hanging out in different pools and
drinking and eating and just have the time of their lives.
It's pretty fun.

Speaker 15 (33:33):
Actually in various types of clothing.

Speaker 9 (33:35):
I image I always you know, everyone's got a bathing
suit on. You know, we've all experienced the day club aspects.
You know. One of my favorite things is, you know,
having like March Madness. You know, we had a tradition
with all my college remates from Michigan State that every
March Madness we're always together at in Vegas watching basketball plays.
And one of the coolest thing is watching sparty, you know,

(33:57):
in a pool, having a dream and making that'side the
app you know, so it's pretty fun.

Speaker 17 (34:02):
You know, I found out.

Speaker 8 (34:03):
You know, I used to say, when you stay overnight
at a casino like fire Keepers in Michigan, you can
wake up at two in the morning and say, oh,
I feel like going down and rolling the bones. The
trick is here at the d You can wake up
at two in the morning and say, I feel like
too loose with mustards.

Speaker 9 (34:17):
And you could have that here.

Speaker 10 (34:18):
You know.

Speaker 9 (34:19):
It's one of those things. It's you know, America is
pretty much run on hotdog and beer, so we got
you covered.

Speaker 8 (34:24):
You know.

Speaker 15 (34:25):
Well, I noticed when you check into the D now
I'm a travel writer, so I'm lucky. I've been all
over the world. I never went to a hotel where
you go to the check in desk and they pour
you a free beer at check in.

Speaker 9 (34:35):
Might as well, you know, they got to get you
started somehow.

Speaker 25 (34:39):
You know.

Speaker 9 (34:39):
The casino doesn't live on hopes and news, you know.

Speaker 17 (34:42):
And it's a molt. The lady says, now, this is
a beer called Moulson.

Speaker 15 (34:45):
And I was laughing because, you know, I grew up
watching Don Cherry on Channel nine and Hockey Night in Canada.
I know what a molson is.

Speaker 9 (34:52):
I know it's hilarious. But you know, a lot of
people from the West, don't you know.

Speaker 15 (34:55):
Well, I appreciated the gesture. It was just cute.

Speaker 9 (34:58):
Yeah, no, it's great. You know, as you're sitting there
waiting to fill out your paperwork and sign all your
things away for your room to wait for your keys,
might as well have a drink.

Speaker 15 (35:06):
It softens the blow for sure. All kinds of celebrities
of coming here, haven't think.

Speaker 9 (35:11):
Yeah, we've seen some great people in here. It's been awesome.
You know a lot of people come in cognito. We
don't even see him and know and next time, know,
we see a social media post kind of thing.

Speaker 15 (35:20):
You know, it's like, all right, look they stopped you.
You know, there's Lewis Hamilton come in the Ferrari driver.

Speaker 9 (35:26):
You know. But it's been great, you know, like you know,
all of a sudden, you're kind of walking in and
there's Dana White hanging out with his crew and just
eating and all that stuff. So it's good.

Speaker 15 (35:35):
So there's another White House invitation for you when he
has that wrestling match on the South Line.

Speaker 9 (35:40):
I know, right, hopefully you know, well, thank.

Speaker 15 (35:42):
You very much for the time and congratulations on this business.
And if you come to the d you're having a
coney dog. And if you're going downtown Detroit for the
Thanksgiving parade or the Lions game or any time, say
hi to Grace Carross at American Coney Island.

Speaker 9 (35:55):
Thank you so much.

When it comes to healthcare costs, we often focus on
one thing, our insurance premiums. But what if we're only seeing.

Speaker 22 (37:05):
Part of the picture.

Speaker 8 (37:06):
The truth is our health insurance costs reside downstream at
the end of the cost equation. But to really understand
what's driving up costs, we need to look upstream to
the healthcare system itself. Upstream, there are costs like the
price is charged by hospitals and doctors, and the cost
of prescription drugs, healthcare administration, and technology. These costs flow

(37:29):
downstream directly into your health insurance premium. That's why Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is advocating for a system
wide solution to address the rising cost of healthcare. Blue
Cross knows that healthcare is personal, needs to work for everyone,
and affordability matters, and that starts with shedding light on
the entire cost equation from upstream costs to downstream premiums.

Over two hundred and fifty people were arrested for alleged

would reportedly not start until after Thanksgiving. I'm Tammy Trijello.

it's the wee small hours of the morning. The sky
has not even turned Vegas blue yet, as Frank Sinatra
called it when he would stay up all night. But
last night that strip was busy and those cars were
zooming through the neon and under the lights in a
practice session. And qualifying is today and of course the
race on Saturday. So thank you for partnering with us

(40:40):
to bring this coverage which has been going on all
morning and all week for a couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
Now, well, thank you for allowing me to be here
this morning.

Speaker 8 (40:53):
Where do we find you in the world, if we may.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Ask, I'm actually he got back into Lancing last night.
It was in New York yesterday afternoon, and got back
to Lancing last night, here today and then back to
Gaillard later tonight where we have our cottage and some

(41:16):
projects there, and then back to Lancing on Sunday.

Speaker 8 (41:21):
He's moving it around quite a bit. And is this
the kind of thing would you watch racing on television?
Will you stay up Saturday night and turn this race on?
And if so, what's it like to watch a race
on TV when you've been on the track and you've
been behind the wheel and you know what's really going on.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
Well, in Formula one, in particular, we watch. Everybody in
our family watches every practice session and you know, I
watched Free practice two last night. Coming up this evening
we'll be free practice three and then qualifying. And there's
so much drama in Formula one. So it really is

(41:59):
the world's biggest soap opera when you look at all
of the personal interactions, all of the stories that get
made up, and all of the what's called today clickbait
that happens in Formula one every day, trying to draw
people to websites that only have part.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
Of the truth.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
Now, mister GENTILOZI, when I talk about Formula One with people,
obviously I'm just a casual fan. I watch these races.
I don't really know what's going on in the car,
what's going on in the paddock with the different racers.

Speaker 29 (42:31):
This that.

Speaker 2 (42:32):
The other thing. The refrain that I hear from people is, yeah,
it's the glitz and glambour that's cool, But watching these
races is kind of boring. What would you say to that.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
Oh, I don't think it's ever boring. I mean sometimes
sometimes the race can be boring if the driver in
the lead gets a big lead and pulls away from
the rest of the field. That doesn't happen very often,
and especially now in motorsports, they legislate competition through adjustments

(43:06):
and performance, so and late in the season like this,
the teams have stopped spending money on twenty twenty five
development and the cars have equalized to a great extent.
And they're now just a few weeks away from introducing
the twenty twenty six cars, which are all new, a
completely new technology. Nothing from today will fit the twenty

(43:30):
twenty six Formula one cars. It'll be coming out soon.

Speaker 8 (43:33):
I'll tell you what wasn't boring. We were on sort
of the driver red carpet yesterday in the paddic area
with the media and incomes Charles Leclerk, who's driving for
Ferrari and with him when you're laughing, because with him
comes his fiance of a couple of weeks, I guess.
And this woman was clad like Ferrari, outfitted leather clothing

(43:57):
for her with the prancing horse on the back of
her dark jacket and the sunglasses. And he walked her
over to the place where the Ferrari you know, their office,
I guess, you would say, and then he turned right,
went into the garage and went on to work. That
was quite a sight, Paul, Was that what it was
like for you? Just chicks all over the place?

Speaker 3 (44:21):
No, No, I've been married fifty four years, so being
on TV with a Hodd chick isn't a way to
get married the next day. But look Fort's girlfriend. This
is a great example of average guys getting spectacular looking
women because of what they do for a job. And

(44:42):
in this case, her father was a Formula one champion,
so she's been in around the sport her whole life.

Speaker 8 (44:51):
Tony's done some research. What's her name?

Speaker 2 (44:53):
Her name is Alexandra Saint mlu. I'm butchering that a
French Mexican Italian art and fashion influencer.

Speaker 8 (45:02):
I her on Instagram, I think, I, Well, she's influenced me.
I'll tell you that. And then we also saw a
fellow yesterday who were reminded me of Bob Bafford and
horse racing. And he is one of the owners, I guess,
and he dated Heidi Klum Flavio.

Speaker 7 (45:23):
Talking about Lawrence Stroll, he's another he's a.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
Yeah, Lawrence is a good friend, longtime friend. Uh. And
and I've been around the Stroll family for a couple
of decades. And and well I taught Lance Stroll, who
drives the Aston Martin. I taught him how to play
golf when he was five.

Speaker 8 (45:48):
You know, we're gonna go find these people and tell
him we know you tonight.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
Oh, absolutely, absolutely no, Lawrence. Lawrence is a great guy.

Speaker 8 (45:57):
You were watching the practice just thirty seconds left. What
was the issue where they had to stop for a while.
Was it a loose manhole cover?

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Again it was Yeah, it was a manhole cover and
they're really concerned about that. Last year in practice one
of the ferraris ran over. I mean it was signed.
His car ran over a manhole cover and destroyed. Did
a million dollars worth of damage to the bottom of
the car.

Speaker 8 (46:22):
Yes, right on the strip. You can drive on it
during the day like I did in my Chevy, and

It is a massive sports weekend. Along with the F

take on the two win New York Giants Detroit. They've
dropped two of three as we know, including that weekend
lost to Philadelphia. Lions are now third in the NFC North,
out of the playoffs completely six and four, one game
behind the first place Bears. And if you were ever

(49:36):
ever going to get a win, the Giants would be
an optimal opponent to say the least Thursday.

Speaker 8 (49:41):
Nar If you look in the Lions history, oh no.
The question is are we reverting? Have the Lions peaked?

Speaker 29 (49:50):
Man?

Speaker 2 (49:51):
If they have, I don't know what to say. I
just think it's some early season struggles, even though we
are at the midpoint, I guess so we're beyond that.
It's always tough for a team when they lose their coordinators.
They lost both the offensive and defensive coordinator. Seems like
the defense is back where they were, if not better
than last year, but this offense is struggling. We've already
seen the shift from Morton to Dan Campbell calling the play,

(50:14):
so hopefully that gets ironed out at some point in time.
It was the Texans beating the Bills last night. What's
going on with Buffalo? Twenty three to nineteen was the
final there. Also over the weekend, Michigan they are on
the road. They take on Maryland. The Wolverines eight and
two on the season. A glimmer of hope, I would
say for the playoff, but it would require a win

(50:35):
this weekend and then beating Ohio State next weekend. Michigan
State they are taking on Iowa, big underdogs in this game,
the Spartans three to seven, zero to seven, and the
Big Ten and the rest of the locals are off
this week. The Red Wings, they were in downtown Detroit
last night, not great, five to nothing, lost to the Islanders.
The Wings host Columbus tomorrow. The Pistons with the best

(50:57):
record in the Eastern Conference at thirteen. They get another
day to chill out and then they go to MKE
to take on the Bucks tomorrow Michigan State at the
Breslin Center. They bring in Detroit Mercy as you would
like to say, NPS and the Titans are one and
four on the season, so it's a little bit of
a step down for the Spartans after beating Kentucky. And

(51:20):
believe it or not, the Michigan men's basketball team they're
in Vegas or they are here. I don't know if
they're here, but they're gonna be here on Monday when
they will take on San Diego State. It's the New
Era Festival that's brought to you by Dean Transportation.

Speaker 8 (51:34):
Dan Campbell says, I know what happens. I've seen this before.
As the season goes on, sometimes teams are underperforming and
then they get hot and they find themselves unstoppable. Am

a group of Democrats should be tried for seditious behavior

Good Morning World on the air and in the air
about twenty five stories over Las Vegas in the wee
small hours of the morning. And as I understand it,
Jeff Gilbert has been nice enough to join us also
in the wee small hours in the wild West for
the Los Angeles Auto Show. We're here for the Formula
One race, right down the Las Vegas Strip between all

(01:01:23):
the Neon Tony kupport as the Formula One fan who
brought us here for the coverage, And isn't it unusual?
I mean, I think it is. You got to do
it yesterday to drive down the strip during the day
in a taxi or in your own car, and then
they clear it out and these millions of dollars worth
of hardware comes rolling down there.

Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
Yeah, it's super cool. And that's the strait that we
were talking about earlier where these cars reach maximum speed.
And that was one of the big items when they
decided to put this race here was we got to
keep these public streets open. We can't just shut it
down for the whole weekend. So we saw it yesterday
and the best part about it was we did get
that driver to open it up just a tad. I mean,

(01:02:05):
I give him credit.

Speaker 8 (01:02:05):
The Ethiopian taxi driver. We said, come on, punch it
a little bit, and he did. Jeff Gilbert knows that
power is kind of what it's about, but its style
and form follows function in the automotive world. And are
you really in Los Angeles and awake at the wee
dark hour right now?

Speaker 5 (01:02:24):
Yeah? But my body is still on Michigan time. I
was asleep by seven pm last night Local time. That's
a nice thing here is the sun goes down early
for this show, so I can keep my body on
Eastern time.

Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
And by the way, I.

Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
Once did the Las Vegas Strip in a vin Fast vehicle.
Is that impressive or not? A Vietnamese made car.

Speaker 8 (01:02:44):
I didn't even know there was such a thing.

Speaker 5 (01:02:47):
Yeah, they were a startup that's trying to get traction
in the US. Hasn't really worked so well for them,
but they had them at Cees one year and they
were using them as shuttles and we went up and
down the strip on that not quite Formula one speed.

Speaker 8 (01:03:01):
So that is not going to win the North American
Car and Truck of the Year award. I don't think
it sounds like okay, hey, so maybe if you went
to bed at seven you didn't stay up and watch
the practice sessions for F one on ESPN last night.

Speaker 5 (01:03:19):
I am sorry I did not.

Speaker 8 (01:03:22):
We're going to take away your your geek status card.
Do you actually have a life? Where do they put
you in a Los Angeles? Are you at the Beverly
Hills Hotel or the Beverly Hilton, the Beverly Wilshire. Where
are you hanging out?

Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
I actually put myself in Los Angeles and I got
a good deal at the JW. Marriott, which is in
walking walking distance of the convention center, because this is
for a North American Car Truck of the Year and
I was going there at their behalf. So they're the
one picking up the check.

Speaker 8 (01:03:56):
You're going to make the announcement. That was kind of
you because you could have insisted on the Ritz Carlton
next door, but you didn't.

Speaker 5 (01:04:02):
I'm the president. I've got to approve the budget, so okay,
I got to keep it reasonable.

Speaker 8 (01:04:11):
Well, we're going to get the Detroit Auto Show in
the winter again and there are going to be announcements
there and some reveals I guess by the Ford Motor
Company about their return to F one Racing and Cadillac two.
We're going to meet a fella to night called Mark Rushbrook,
who is the director of Global Racing for Ford. I
don't know if you know him or not, but I
guess he started his life on a tractor and a

(01:04:33):
farm and he ended up being a Ford executive.

Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:04:36):
I actually did talk to him about that event. That
they're having at the auto show, where they're going to
be talking about all of their racing. They decided, since
they've got to beautifully restored Michigan Central Station, that will
be something. I mean, it's invitation only, whether it'll be streamed,
and you're right, they'll be talking about Formula one, Laman,
all their racing teams.

Speaker 8 (01:04:54):
Is he Funfeller? Are we gonna have a good time
with him?

Speaker 5 (01:04:57):
I think so. I talked to him the exact number
of times that you're going to once, so, hey, you know,
the guy heads. If a guy heads a race team,
he's not going to.

Speaker 8 (01:05:07):
Be dull, okay, excellent, swell, and by the time we
get to him, it'll be the practice or the qualifying
Tony tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:05:17):
I think it's just it's rate when the qualifying starts,
so he's dipping.

Speaker 8 (01:05:21):
Out of that lots of champagne by then, so it'll
be not for him, for us. That's Formula one. Now,
you are going to make some announcements in Los Angeles.

Speaker 17 (01:05:30):
It's already made them yesterday, yep.

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
So so there's no secrets here I can tell you
about him.

Speaker 8 (01:05:36):
The embargo has lifted. Please break the margo head lifted.

Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Yep, we've got North American Car Truck Utility of the
Year finalists very quickly because you're probably tied on time.
Carman your finalists, okay, then I can expand. Now, Carr,
your finalists are the Dodge Charger hon to prelude and
the Nissan Leaf. Truck of the Year, two Rams, the
one with a HIM and the RAM twenty five hundred

(01:06:02):
heavy duty, as well as the Ford Maverick Lobo, which
is kind of a low rider version of the small Maverick.
And for Utility of the Year, you have got the
Hondai Palisade, the Lucid Gravity that's an EV startup, and
the Nissan Leaf. So you've got two people, two companies
with multiple vehicles. Ram and Nissan.

Speaker 8 (01:06:23):
The cars you mentioned in the first category seem very
very diverse. Is that fair to say?

Speaker 5 (01:06:28):
Well, that's what we like is you know, we we
have points to give, we've got to spread them out. So, yeah,
you've got the Charger, which is both an EV version
and a V six version, but the V six gets
as much as the V eight. You've got the Leaf,
which I'm sorry, Leaf is utility. You've got the CenTra,
which is a very nice small car, very nice compact car,

(01:06:51):
and the Honda Prelude, which is a small sporting car.

Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Now, mister Gilbert, this is Tony. I'm going to shift
back to the Ford Mortar Company. This the story of
Jim Farley is fascinating to me. I've been doing light
reading on him, but he himself he's a race car driver.
Do I have this correct as the CEO?

Speaker 5 (01:07:09):
Absolutely? Yeah, absolutely. In fact, they had to make a
deal when he became CEO to allow him to continue
racing because some of the other people at Ford were saying, hey, look,
we're investing a lot of money in a CEO. We
don't want to see him, you know, get hurt or
even worse on a racetrack. But his argument is this
helps me understand the product. So yeah, Jim Farley is

(01:07:30):
a fascinating guy and a lot of us who are
auto reporters go way back with him because he was
a Toyota executive for years and we got to know
him there, and then he came into Ford with marketing,
which is one of the areas that is very forward
facing to the media, and worked his way up to
the top job.

Speaker 8 (01:07:49):
That's what they did. When you went to WWJ. Right,
you said, I still want to do riding drives and
they couldn't figure out how to ensure.

Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
You exactly, And no, I, as far as racing goes,
I have retired from that area. I did a Neon
challenge once, remember that as the Detroit Grand Prix where
we all drove around in these little Dodge Neons.

Speaker 8 (01:08:12):
Did you win?

Speaker 5 (01:08:12):
I finished? I finished dead last and the three last
place finishers were Benning Napoleon to an Ontov police chief,
Mary Conway Channel seven and me so who has seen
more crashes than two reporters in a cop.

Speaker 8 (01:08:32):
The man who writes and talks with style and a
plumb is up early in Los Angeles at the LA
Auto Show, just about a four and a half hour
drive from here, although if you were in enough one
car you can make that drive a lot faster. Tony
Cuthbert is here, Michael Patrick Shields, Thank you, mister Gilbert,
and we'll hold on with anticipation to see who wins

(01:08:53):
those awards at the Detroit Auto Show coming up.

NBC is revealing the star studied lineup of performers for

among others. As previously announced, Reba McIntyre will make her

I've heard say.

Speaker 12 (01:12:12):
Wicked for Good is looking to become the year's biggest
debut as a lands in theaters this weekend. The sequel
film is expected to bring in between one hundred and
fifty and one hundred and eighty million dollars.

Speaker 14 (01:12:25):
That's entertainment. I'm Jacqueline Carl.

Speaker 8 (01:12:37):
Okay, you've been to cupcake stores, and you've been to
slurpee stores and ice Paine gelato stores.

Speaker 15 (01:12:42):
How about puffy cotton candy? We're all adults here. We
can talk when was the last time you had cotton candy?
But when was the last time you had gourmet cotton candy?
And we're standing right here at.

Speaker 8 (01:12:52):
The Off One Paddock Club overlooking the track, and a
man who invented this puffy cotton candy with a sounds
like about eight retail places around the United States too.
In Las Vegas, yes, where you can get late night
cotton candy after too many martinis in Vegas.

Speaker 6 (01:13:08):
Those are our locations that are open the latest, which
obviously makes sense. If you have a hankering for cotton
candy at ten or eleven PM at night, you can
come to our stores. Our headquarters are based in Nashville, Tennessee.
We have two stores there.

Speaker 15 (01:13:22):
We just it's not a late night place either. Yes,
it is Broadway it is, and.

Speaker 6 (01:13:26):
We try not to mix too much.

Speaker 22 (01:13:28):
Whiskey and rye burden with our product.

Speaker 6 (01:13:31):
But for now, it's safe for kids, and that's generally
our target and demographic is as kids, and they get
most excited about the enormous magical rainbow characters that we
make out of cotton candy. So we take the cotton
candy and we sculpt it and we create it into
different forms like famous movie characters.

Speaker 22 (01:13:48):
Or cartoon characters.

Speaker 6 (01:13:49):
We just have a license now with Peanuts, so we
do Snoopy and Woodstock and Charlie Brown. And we're obtaining
more licenses to do a lot of the famous ip
that you see in movies and TV shows soon.

Speaker 22 (01:13:58):
So we're thrilled to to be here at the Las
Vegas Grand Prix.

Speaker 6 (01:14:02):
We've done an exclusive helmet made out of cotton candy.
The whole thing is edible. It's made out of cherry
cotton candy and birthday cake flavor cotton candy. They're about
two feet tall and we can do them in different sizes.
But the best part about it is not just how
beautiful they look, but they actually taste incredible, and they
have different flavors.

Speaker 22 (01:14:18):
They're not just different colors.

Speaker 6 (01:14:19):
But each color you see is in a unique flavor,
and the mixture and taste in your mouth, it's just magical.

Speaker 15 (01:14:25):
I can smell it from here and it just makes
me feel like a kid again.

Speaker 6 (01:14:30):
Yes, yes, it's very nostalgic and it's been around for
one hundred years. It was invented by a dentist in Nashville.

Speaker 22 (01:14:35):
Tennessee, of all places.

Speaker 6 (01:14:37):
Oh no, Well, incidentally, we happen to kind of birth
this concept of a cotton candy store in Nashville, Tennessee.
So we're thrilled to expand across the US. We've got
locations in Orlando and New Jersey, two in Las Vegas,
two in Nashville, opening in Dallas soon, hoping to go
international after this, but for now we've got about ten
retail locations with ten more coming next year. So yeah,

(01:14:59):
kind of sweet in the nation with our cotton candy concepts.

Speaker 8 (01:15:02):
Did the dentist not want kids to like chew on
hard candy and gum?

Speaker 15 (01:15:05):
Was that the idea?

Speaker 22 (01:15:06):
It'd be the thing?

Speaker 6 (01:15:07):
And a fun fact about cotton candy is it's only
called cotton candy in the United States. Outside of the US,
in Europe or Australia, it's called fairyfloss or candyfloss. So
I don't know if that floss parts the time dentist,
let's go with it, but well we're going to go
with it for now.

Speaker 22 (01:15:23):
Flost your teeth with this stuff.

Speaker 8 (01:15:24):
So if you're listening right now, and you're a corporate listener,
and you say I would like to have. You know,
two hundred or five hundred or eight thousand, you're having
a corporate event and you want something to be your
logo or be something that represents you, they can contact
you and do that.

Speaker 22 (01:15:39):
We have you absolutely could.

Speaker 6 (01:15:41):
You could visit us at Puffy Cotton Candy and that's
Puffy Cottoncandy dot com. We do corporate events across the US.
We've got locations across the US, so we can fly
in or in most cases we're local now because we're
expanding so quickly.

Speaker 8 (01:15:55):
So what if somebody asked you they wanted to have
a puffy cotton candy that looked like Donald Trump.

Speaker 22 (01:16:01):
We've done it before.

Speaker 6 (01:16:02):
We haven't posted it on social media or anywhere, but
we did it behind closed doors as a joke, and
it actually looked pretty authentic with the hair especially. We
used to orange cotton candy and let's just say it
was flowing nicely in the window.

Speaker 15 (01:16:16):
I'm glad we can have a sense of humor about it.

Speaker 8 (01:16:18):
That's terrific.

Speaker 17 (01:16:18):
Well, congratulations again.

Speaker 15 (01:16:20):
In your name.

Speaker 6 (01:16:20):
Brendan Curtis, co founder of Puffy Cotton Candy, and the
other founder is Holland Curtis Is.

Speaker 15 (01:16:26):
She standing right over there. Yes, her hair looks nicer.

Speaker 22 (01:16:28):
Than the here, but she's much prettier than I am.

Speaker 17 (01:16:31):
You weren't on Shark Tank or anything, were you.

Speaker 6 (01:16:33):
We've been asked and suggested many times to do it.
I think we need to apply because it would be
a great fit.

Speaker 15 (01:16:39):
Yeah, do you need the sharks.

Speaker 6 (01:16:40):
We do need the sharks, but I think we're doing
so well on our own that perhaps maybe we don't
need a shark to kind of.

Speaker 15 (01:16:47):
That's what the last day, What do you need those for?
You know, you got wonderful.

Speaker 8 (01:16:51):
Oh give you the five hundred thousand, but I want
a royalty for the first blah blah.

Speaker 24 (01:16:55):
Blah of the company.

Speaker 15 (01:16:59):
So we're just the first time you remember tasting cotton candy?

Speaker 8 (01:17:02):
Oh my gosh, I probably was about four or five
years old.

Speaker 17 (01:17:05):
I think circus or something, right.

Speaker 22 (01:17:07):
Yeah, literally carnival.

Speaker 8 (01:17:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:17:10):
Las Vegas is a giant circus, and you made it
even more fun, especially here.

Speaker 6 (01:17:13):
Fit right in here with the sort of magical electricity
of the city and just hitting all the senses and
it's such a unique concept and it's why we opened here.

Speaker 22 (01:17:21):
It just made a lot of sense. Can't really beat it.

Speaker 17 (01:17:24):
Thanks for being so sweet.

Speaker 15 (01:17:25):
Congratulations, Thanks Timutia, thanks for having us. It's puffy cotton candy.

Speaker 25 (01:17:28):
In Las Vegas.

Speaker 8 (01:17:29):
At F one there will not be cotton candy, but
it wouldn't surprise me if there was. Today, Tony Cuthbert,
when you and I go to lunch at Cavellino. Now,
Cavalino is not a restaurant that you will find in
Las Vegas, but it is today and the world's number
one chef, Massimo Batura from the Emelia Romana region of Italy,

(01:17:51):
has taken over the Cirque at Bellaggio. And this is
because his restaurant at Ferrari headquarters in Marinello is in
the old dining room that Enzo Ferrari had for his executives,
and they decided, you know what do we do with
this room here at the headquarters. They turned it into
a high end gourmet restaurant and anyone can go there

(01:18:15):
if you go to Italy, and you'll have the cuisine
of the very, very creative Massimo Batura, who has been
on this program. And so today the Ferrari executives, I
presume will be there and some of the culinary world
because obviously Ferrari is a big force in Formula one racing,
and that's where we are. So you'll get to experience

(01:18:37):
food that is so colorful you barely can you can
barely eat it because it looks like beautiful artwork.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
I don't know if you've seen some of these pictures
that I have MPs, because it made me one of
the dishes that is going to be sampled. They have
a dessert and it's almost like a it's a race car.
It's a little mini race car on the plate and
it makes it makes me think of the beautiful apple
dessert at Mission Point Resort. You have something that is
so beautiful that you want to indulge in, but it's like, uh,

(01:19:07):
what do I do with this thing?

Speaker 8 (01:19:09):
It's similar and there's some wackiness to it also, but
if you go there, it's really fun. And it's right
across the street from the old entrance of the Ferrari headquarters.
And if you get a chance, and if you're into
cars and history and you want to go visit, make
Cavalino part of your visit and we'll be there today
and experience some of that with you. It's quite visual.

(01:19:29):
So you know, food on the radio, wine on the radio.
Next thing you know, they'll be dancing on the radio and.

Speaker 17 (01:19:37):
Here we go.

Speaker 8 (01:19:38):
Well. JP McCarthy used to have that swimsuit edition of
his show every year, like Sports Illustrate. WHOA Probably couldn't
get away with that today, but it was pretty funny
at the time. Yep, he would have swimsuit models come
in and describe the v Palm Palm girls. Oh no, no,
that's a Thanksgiving, that's a treat next week.

to some money that we might be sitting on in
our own house.

Speaker 36 (01:21:28):
You know, you just really want to manage your debt
and be smart with your equity. And now there are
all the things that we talk to folks about. You
call us at Hall Financial or you enquoyer online. Really,
if you have a nice five ten to fifteen minute conversation,
however long you want to have it, you can really
get a handle on what you can and can't do
based on your situation. So we always encourage the phone call.

(01:21:51):
And one of the reasons that we have nearly seven
thousand and five star reviews is the way that we
interact with people. And it's an exciting time for us
right now with the holidays coming up, to help people
to manage their money instead of scrambling in January, maybe
when we've over spent, so let's make a budget, let's
focus on what we need to do so that we're

(01:22:11):
financially successful in using our home mortgage as a part
of that, my.

Speaker 8 (01:22:15):
Sister Laurie Shields with the Detroit Regional Chambers said she
ran into Liz Ware from Mission Point Resort, I think
it was yesterday, and she said they cooked up some

when we're going to broadcast from the Godfrey in Corktown,
so maybe we'll go to the Gaelic League or something

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
Or you could take the scooter and go to the

Speaker 5 (01:23:25):
The Ralph Wilson.

Speaker 29 (01:23:26):
Centennial Park is right next to the current post office
down by the Ambassador Bridge, but it is beautiful. But
all along the whole Riverwalk from Belaide Park to Cohen
Plaza to where the Gilbert family put in the Pirate Ship.
That's a great water park. During the summer, the Riverwalk
is just spectacular.

Speaker 15 (01:23:44):
Couldn't be better.

Speaker 19 (01:24:01):
NBC News Radio, I'm Scott Carr, New York City mayor
elect zonn Mam Donnie, heads to Washington today where he'll
meet with President Trump. Mam Donnie says, despite their differences,
he'll work with Trump to take on what he calls
the cost of living crisis and any agenda that will
help New Yorkers. Trump and Mom Donnie have been critical
of each other, with Trump threatening to withhold federal funds

(01:24:22):
from New York if Mam Donnie won the mayoral election.
The mayor elect says it should be about a relationship
between New York City and the White House, not individuals.
The White House says President Trump does not want a
group of Democrats to be put to death, despite a
post from President Trump saying a group of Democrats should
be tried for seditious behavior punishable by death, referring to

(01:24:44):
a group of lawmakers, most of them former military, who
made a video telling current members of the military to
ignore orders issued by Trump if they are illegal. Press
Secretary Caroline Levitt responded, that is.

Speaker 20 (01:24:56):
A very very dangerous mesh message, and it perhaps is
punishable by law, encouraging them to defy the president's lawful orders.
The sanctity of our military rests on the chain of command.

Speaker 19 (01:25:11):
Levitt claims the message could incite violence and insurrection. An

Speaker 8 (01:28:37):
And it's so it's competition like any other sport like
softball or baseball or track or whatever, but it's it's

Speaker 2 (01:28:43):
Yeah, and this is becoming huge. It's I think at
this point in the state of Michigan, it's even a
sanctioned sport by the Michigan High School Athletic Association. I mean,
we're just flying into this new age in eastern Michigan,
of course at the forefront.

Speaker 8 (01:28:57):
So I want to know, after what I saw yesterday
at the F one arcade where you got in the simulator,
if there were automated digital racing, would you qualify for
the team.

Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
I don't think I would qualify to clean up sweep
the floor in the garage. At this point with my performance,
I think I beat you in one of the races.
That's my highlight.

Speaker 8 (01:29:20):
I guess, yeah, that's because you came in ninth and
I came in tenth. One of the races was at Manza,
the other one Las Vegas. They were Formula one races.
The other one was the Belgian Grand Prix. And Paul
Eisenstein is laughing because it all looks like fun and games,
but driving a high performance vehicle in a race like
that is not easy. Contributing editor Headlight Dot News, he's

(01:29:45):

know if he's driven the flying car yet, but he'll

Yeah, well, eure Rope early too, so it's going to

one after another after another. With the traffic in Los Angeles,
you don't get to open a car up too much there,
do you.

Speaker 5 (01:30:20):
Oh, maybe for a mile or two and then you're
doing two miles an hour again. Yeah, getting back to
my hotel, which is a grand total of eighteen miles
from the conventions of Yes, it took me what an
hour and fifteen minutes. Yeah, it's very different driving out
here from Detroit, that's for sure.

Speaker 8 (01:30:37):
Where are you staying.

Speaker 5 (01:30:40):
I'm actually staying down in Redondo Beach, Torrents area, because
you know, I went to the press preview of the
media day yesterday and today I'm going to have a
chance to meet with some folks over at Honda. They're
celebrating their fiftieth anniversary.

Speaker 8 (01:30:58):
Here in La Redondo Beach is very nice. I salute
you for staying there. It's pretty chill compared to the city.
But at the preview. Can you give us a sneak
peek or do we go to Headlight dot news to
learn what you did?

Speaker 5 (01:31:13):
Well, you should go to Headlight dot news to get
a closer look at everything that I wrote about. But
let's just say it was a little less than overwhelming.
We have seen the de evolution, if you will, of
auto shows over the last five years or so. Ever
since COVID hit, auto shows have really sort of turned

(01:31:36):
into just sort of a secondary event. Even at the
big places like Detroit and Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
Automakers have decided that they don't necessarily need to go
to the shows anymore to launch new product. So there
were only two major previews yesterday at the media preview.

(01:31:58):
The good news was those were pretty big, pretty interesting.

Speaker 8 (01:32:03):
There's pressure, is there not on the Detroit show this
year moving back to January?

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:32:09):
Yeah, Well, you know, they did it last year and
unfortunately they just didn't get much involvement from the auto
industry itself. They're going to have a little bit more
this year. It looks like the Big three or finally
supporting the hometown team, so to speak. But it's just
certainly not what it used to be. I remember when

(01:32:31):
it was a must attend by every auto company. At
one point, Detroit claimed to have had seventy seventy different previews,
seventy different new models debuting in a three day period.

Speaker 8 (01:32:46):
Did they have a Detroit January Show last year? Wow?
Where does the time go?

Speaker 29 (01:32:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:32:52):
Left? Last year was Yeah. Last year was the first
year they moved back to January.

Speaker 8 (01:32:58):
So Ford and Cadillac are getting back into Formula one racing,
And I remember learning somewhere along the line there was
a sort of a disagreement of philosophy where Ferrari built
cars so they could fund the racing, and Lamborghini funded
racing so they could sell cars. I think were the
two ways to look at it. Which is it for

(01:33:20):
Cadillac and Ford? Why would they get back invested in
Formula one?

Speaker 5 (01:33:25):
I think they're involved in Formula one much the same
reason that they're involved in racing in general. They'll tell
you that the reason they want to be involved is that,
Number one, it does help build the brand image, There's
no question about that, and that, of course, in turn
helps sell vehicles. But it also has typically been a

(01:33:47):
place where they can try out new technology. They supposedly
can learn on the track and then transfer technology into production. This.
You know, there's always been a debate can you really
translate Formula one technology onto onto the highway? Interestingly enough,
you know Ford is going to show off some sort

(01:34:09):
of supercar in Detroit at this show in January, so
maybe the claim is legitimate this time, Paul.

Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
I know it's your job and you're used to driving everything.
We went to some type of an auto show last
night and they had a nineteen eighty eight Ferrari for sale.
It was a quarter of a million dollars. What's going
if you're if you're driving in something like that, Again,
it's your job. What's going through your head? What are
you looking for in an automobile? I know that's an
older ride, but there's a lot of pressure driving a

(01:34:38):
quarter of a million dollar vehicle.

Speaker 8 (01:34:40):
I would that was a testa Rosa.

Speaker 5 (01:34:41):
Yeah, oh my gosh, that's cheap for a test Rosa.
You know, if it's an antique, if it's an old car,
the price is typically can go up to millions of dollars.
So if you only paid a quarter million, you did
pretty well.

Speaker 4 (01:34:57):
You got it.

Speaker 8 (01:34:58):
You got it on the cheap Gee, you wonder what
kind of financing we could get for that. We'd need
financing just for the maintenance on a car like that,
wouldn't we though.

Speaker 5 (01:35:09):
Yeah, it's there. You do have to spend a few books.
The nice thing is some of the exotics have gotten better.
You know, it used to be you knew that if
you bought something like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, you
were gonna put a lot of maintenance into those vehicles.
And interestingly enough, today those brands are expected to be
reliable and not require you to be in the shop

(01:35:31):
all the time. Too.

Speaker 8 (01:35:33):
Before you do anything automotive, check with Paul Eisenstein. He's

So do we, and we think that's a great band
with hits from over thirty years worth, and they've been
performing for longer than that. So it's a great opportunity
for some classic rock and roll. So if you got
people coming in, or you're looking for some activities between
Christmas and New Year's maybe people have some days off,
then you want to get some of those tickets. And
they are already going fast. So I sound like a

(01:40:35):
broken DJ record from that standpoint, but I am telling
the truth. So you should head to our website and
get the link and go in and buy some tickets
because they won't be there in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately.

Speaker 8 (01:40:47):
I was kind of curious if there were any left
at this very moment because that would be a nice
holiday gift to give someone. And the Jefferson Starship is
full of energy like a human juke box is up
there on the stage and for those who don't come
on the twenty ninth, you're having a New Year's Eve party.

Speaker 4 (01:41:06):
So we run one of the biggest and I think
best New Year's Eve parties. Begins at nine am. The
dancing and live music, live band and a DJ run
through until about one am. There's appetizers that come out
around ten pm for a little snack. It's a great,
great time and we bring in a national band. So

(01:41:28):
last year and this year a band called Hot Chili
out of California comes in for this, so we really
blow out the budget on a great, great band, a
lot of dancing party, live music. The music never stops
between the band and DJ from nine to one. So
people need to think about those tickets because in this
case MPs, we only sell oh a couple of hundred

(01:41:51):
of these tickets, so a lot of it is fighter
Keeper's loyal guests throughout the year, but we do throw
a few hundred on sale to the public, and I
would just encourage people to get them. There's always loyalists
who jump on them first day and they'll be active
tomorrow for sure.

Speaker 8 (01:42:08):
How many hundreds of dollars must that New Year's Eve
party cost?

Speaker 4 (01:42:13):
It's a big party, but again we're part of it
is showing loyalty to our guests throughout the year. Part
of it is our get your Vegas on brand that
we feel we just can't run something mediocre. We just can't,
you know, no disrespect to any regional band. We got
to go bring in something that really plays those kind
of major events that are going to carry the energy

(01:42:34):
for four hours. So I think it's right on for
what we like to do and how we like to
present ourselves three hundred and sixty five days a year.

Speaker 8 (01:42:43):
It's only sixty five dollars. That is amazing because a
lot of times you're going to get fleased on New
Year's Eve when you go somewhere and they you know,
they jam you. But not at fire Keepers. It's not
only is it only sixty five dollars per person, Well,
you can just walk over to the tables and win
that between some of the suns. That's the magic of

(01:43:03):
it all. And by the way, you can get a
free pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving too on Tuesday. That's a
good deal.

Speaker 4 (01:43:12):
It sure is. You commit to earn a hundred points
on your Red Hot rewards card, and if you don't
have one, well that's okay because you can come in
on Tuesday. Sign up, get some free play and then
earn your hundred points and get yourself a fresh, delicious
pumpkin pie to either take to your table or wherever
you're going for Thanksgiving. So we and we're not short

(01:43:35):
changing on this. I think we have about thirteen hundred
of them. Now that doesn't mean they'll go forever, but
they'll be a good amount throughout the day. So we
will have about thirteen hundred pies. You earn your hundred points,
come to the event center, we'll give you that great
delicious pie. No snacking on the way home, though, you
have to keep it in good shape for the Thanksgiving table. Okay,

(01:43:55):
it will smell delicious, but you keep your hands off.

Speaker 8 (01:43:59):
That was maybe if somebody asks for a plastic fork
with it, you know what's going to happen to us
on the ride home. We're speaking to you by the
way from Las Vegas for the Formula one race, and
this is one of the reasons you can get your
fire Keepers on in Las Vegas, but really get your
Vegas on it FireKeepers Casino. You don't have to leave

(01:44:20):
the state or even fly anywhere, but racing is important
to fire Keepers as it is here on the strip
this week. What is the element that you embrace sports
as much as you do because you also have sports
celebrities who turn up from time to time, and of
course you include golf.

Speaker 4 (01:44:38):
Well, you know, I guess I'm speaking now to max
Verse Shields or a rollback named Mario and Ready Shields.
But as you well know, we love bringing NASCAR, for example,
to Michigan, and it's been here long before fire Keepers
came along, but we're making sure that it stays live
here in our great relationship the folks at Michigan Speedway

(01:45:01):
to keep bringing the fire Keeper's Casino four hundred, and
our plan is to do that for many years into
the future also, but we're excited. You know, the mis
schedule went from two races a year to one, but
we want to make sure that one is the fire
Keeper's Casino four hundred. There's some great folks and they're
generating growth in their business, which is not easy in

(01:45:23):
any form of racing, and we're proud to have our
name atop that race.

Speaker 8 (01:45:28):
It's exciting, it's loud, it's fast, it's fun, it's in
the summertime, and FireKeepers Casino has that for you. I
don't know if they've announced the date yet or not.
Have they.

Speaker 4 (01:45:40):
It is the I want to say it's around June,
like six and seven in that range. I should know
it off the top of my head. But I believe
that's a weekend, and then that is the weekend for it,
because this year in twenty twenty six, it's going to
be the NASCAR race first and the following weekend will
be our fire Keepers Casino Hotel Golf Championship.

Speaker 8 (01:46:03):
Back to back good sports and don't forget on December ninth,
nineties Hits and Christmas Riffs with Mark McGrath, Kevin Griffin
and Emerson Hart live in the showroom at fire Keepers Casino.
See it's just the winning is just beginning. And you
could have a chicken dinner Winter Winner at FireKeepers if
you want to. The hot turkey sandwich is always a

(01:46:24):
big hit at Thanksgiving as well. It's MPs through the
AT and t micro. When it comes to healthcare costs,
we often focus on one thing, our insurance premiums. But
what if we're only seeing.

Speaker 7 (01:46:35):
Part of the picture.

Speaker 8 (01:46:36):
The truth is our health insurance costs reside downstream at
the end of the cost equation. But to really understand
what's driving up costs, we need to look upstream to
the healthcare system itself. Upstream, there are costs like the
price is charged by hospitals and doctors, and the cost
of prescription drugs, healthcare administration, and technology. These costs flow

(01:46:59):
downstream directly into your health insurance premium.

Thursday Night football, Houston's defense was relentless eight sacks, three turnovers.
Texans knock off the Bills twenty three to nineteen for
their third straight win. Head coach Tamiko Ryans on his
defense leading to a big time win.

Speaker 25 (01:47:44):
They understand a moment and they're ready for those moments,
and they went out and they prove you know why
they were ready for those moments. Everybody was calm, everybody
played together. Everybody was exactly where they're supposed to be.

Speaker 32 (01:47:56):
Texans improved to six and five, Bills fall to seven
and four Those Quarterback Joe Burrow was a full participant
in practice for a second straight day, and head coach
Zach Taylor hasn't ruled out Burrow playing Sunday against the Patriots.
NBA Tyrese Maxi career high fifty four points help the
Sixers hold off the Box one twenty three, one fourteen

third career hatrick capitals pepper the Canadians eight to four.
That's sports. I'm Ronzamoas.

Speaker 8 (01:49:00):
Tony Kuppert has been in the wake of Jim Wise
at fire Keepers Casino, examining the odds and who could
win this Formula One race in Las Vegas. There's only
three races left, including this one. After this, the racers
go to the Middle East. Yeah, it's a couple of races.
But who do you like? Well?

Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
According to the odds, Max Verstappen is the overwhelming favorite.
I mean he's in third place right now when it
comes to winning the championship. But he's been on a heater,
as they like to say. But on these different sports books,
of course, you can do the different prop bets that
we've come to know with like the Super Bowl. So
you can bet on anything, whether or not there's going
to be a caution. Who's gonna they call it retirement?

(01:49:42):
In the F one World Watch car is going to
be retired first due to a mechanical failure or something.

Speaker 8 (01:49:48):
Hang, many usually finish a race and are there twenty
to start with?

Speaker 2 (01:49:51):
There's twenty, I mean there's a lot of I mean
I think I don't think there has been a crash
in the two years of this race here in Vegas,
to be honest, So I think Carr is finished, So
be careful on that one. You can also bet on
the winning nationality of a driver British is the overall
mean favorite, followed by Dutch. That would be Max Ver

(01:50:11):
stabbing British.

Speaker 8 (01:50:12):
That means it could be a Ferrari win.

Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
That could when it comes to Lewis Hamilton, and if
you go to McLaren that's Lando Norris. There's so many.
And then we got the monogasque that would be Charles
Leclerk he would be at the bottom and an Australian
which is Oscar Piastre.

Speaker 5 (01:50:27):
Of McLaren so.

Speaker 8 (01:50:28):
But Clerk also drives for Ferrari.

Speaker 2 (01:50:30):
Yeah, be very very careful when you bet on that stuffing.
That's all I can say.

Speaker 8 (01:50:34):
Now, what about that Italian kid? He looked like he
was twelve years old and he's driving a machine like
that when we saw him yesterday at the Red Car.

Speaker 2 (01:50:42):
It's a remarkable story. Kimmy Antonelli is his name, he's
he drives for Mercedes, nineteen years old and he has
been outstanding this season. He's finished on the podium a
few times and to see him up there, it's kind
of strange because he's nineteen and they do the whole
shit campaign celebration at the end of the race, so.

Speaker 8 (01:51:03):
He can't have any it's against the law, no, but he.

Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
Can zip it around the track, so I give him
a lot of credit.

Speaker 8 (01:51:09):
I wouldn't want a nineteen year old to drive me
to the grocery store, let alone drive one of these cars.

Speaker 2 (01:51:14):
Yeah, he was a tiny dude, but he can get
into the car and make magic. There's no question, a
lot of football this weekend. The Lions on Sunday bringing
the Giants. Michigan and Michigan State both play tomorrow. We
also have the Red Wings the Pistons play tomorrow Milwaukee.
And college basketball is fully underway, including some cool tournaments
throughout the United States of America. That's brought to you

(01:51:35):
by d Transportation.
