(01:09):
to look at it that way, to spend a lot
of nights and hotels, and I did last night, of
course here at fire Keeper's Casino Hotel and on our
AT and T radio stage right now we're welcoming Ray Wariber.
That's easy for you to say, Thank yeah very much.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Tough ning here.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
We appreciate that very much. And you are the facilities manager.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
At fire vice president vice president.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Sorry, oh that's okay.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I was the manager at one time.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
So you've been here.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
I've been here a little over thirteen years now.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
What a career.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Eh. Yeah, it's been great, been wonderful.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
And that's a big part of the fire Keeper's mission too.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
To the guys.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Currently got a list of projects that includes remodeling tower
one of our hotel.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
See overseeing the construction.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Of poker moving to the former bingo room. We've got
probably three projects we can't even discuss right now that
are in the planning stages.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
For all the work that Ray and his team do here,
I mean, they do so much work that you would
normally have to go outside to get done.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
It's amazing.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
I'm glad you mentioned that because I forgot how gorgeous
the rooms are in the second tower, thank you. I mean,
so soothing and stylish and pleasing to the eye. And
I opened my door and automatically the drapes open and
you open the door to the room to reveal by
nine four.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah, it kind of drops off after that, doesn't it?
But it's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
They oh, it's super cool. And there's a fireplace in there,
fire keepers and that thing, and the ceiling has a
mural like a fresco on it, and then it's just
I could live in that room.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
We're currently doing redoing Tower one, remodeling right now.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
And will it be like that?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
My opinion it will be better better. Absolutely, we're raising
the bar not own.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
That's fantastic.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, it's very exciting.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
You know what else I noticed that I've never seen
in a hotel anywhere in my life. On the mirror
in the bathroom, you have a QR code where you
can leave a gratuity for the housekeeping staff cash list gratuity.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah, pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I never have seen that.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Well, you know a lot of times people are checking
out and they're down at the front desk and they're going, oh, hey,
I need change for all whatever. Can you put this
in an envelope and get it to housekeeping or you know, yeah,
they whatever, and or they forget and they're leaving and
they or.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
They don't have any money left.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah, it's possible too.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
And you know what, I really wanted to leave five
bucks or whatever for housekeeping, and they did a great job.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
So it's just another option.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
It's not a mandate, but it does give you an
option in case you're sitting there going head on a change.
I have hundreds from all the winnings. I don't have
any I don't have any singles or fives.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Or whatever, all these benjamins, I need some. Does that
money that goes to that QR CODE donation go directly
to the person who worked on your room?
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Or is shared?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
I believe. I believe it is grouped, pooled and shared
among the pause.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
You might have a different person every day you're here.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
You could, yes, absolutely, and again you could have multiple
people during a day help you. So somebody prepped the room,
then you entered the room. Then maybe you wanted I
don't know, more towels. Somebody else brings you those, you know,
so you could you could interact with more than a
particular person.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
That dare to say the person who prepped the room
deserves far less than the person who cleaned it after
I left.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
That's not true.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
I like the room to look like nobody stayed in it.
What I least was anybody in there. Now, you didn't
have enough to do, so you're gonna run the golf
tournament this year.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
I am co director with Roxanna Perez. This year my
first time out and learning as we go here. But
it's been a blast.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Did you watch the Masters this weekend?
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Unbelievable? It was hard to watch. I could hardly breathe. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Now here are people putting for, you know, millions of dollars,
and the players that we have that come here to
fire keepers are playing for their lives, much less money,
but it's their career on the line. Sometimes I think
those pets are you know, worth a lot more than
what we saw justin Rose miss on eighteen.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I agree.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Yeah, these women that are coming for our EPSENT Tour,
this is all they do. This is what they've dedicated
their lives to. They're amazing athletes and they every putt counts.
The difference between the EPSOM Tour, I like to say,
and the LPGA, where many of them come back and forth,
up and down, is maybe a ten footer around one
ten footer a round goes in and they're on the tour.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
It's that close. That's how good they are, and so
that pressure is constant on them.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
You take very good care of them when they come here. Yes,
we love this venue.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
They do. We hear that they like our stop probably
the best.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
What are the dates this year?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Dates? This year we are starting June eighth, We are
going June.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Well, the pro ams actually start on the fourth, fourth,
fifth are pro ams. We have two on Wednesday, one
on Thursday, and then sixth, seventh and eighth are the
is the tournament?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Battle Creek Country Club a very good place to get
your steps in, Oh, great place on the lake. So
that's probably another reason though. The players like it, and
it's a very.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Beautiful course, beautiful golf course, very well kept, high standard.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
They love our meet, the player's party on a Tuesday night.
I think they think our food is a difference maker.
And the other two things I'd mentioned and Ray can
clearly fill in gaps for me, is there's opportunity still
for sponsors.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
So businesses throughout the region.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Who would like to get some exposure can reach out
to us for sponsorship.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Or if you live kind of you know, not too far.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
From Battle Creek or in the greater Battle Creek area,
you could potentially house a golfer and that's a really
rewarding experience that a player or to stay with you
for a couple of days.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
It's a difference maker for.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Them to not have to just go out and try
to pay for hotels. They don't have sponsors yet. You know,
they're not wearing a Nike smoosh and making six figures.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Out of it. Not a lot of times.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
They're getting money from a local business in their hometown
and trying to make ends meet.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
To make the dream come true. Absolutely, we can get
the dates and the sponsorship information on the fire Keeper's website.
Absolutely as simple as that. Or drop on it and
ask somebody and they'll take very good care of you.
Thank you for your triumph. We look forward to your
adjustments here and the growth at FireKeepers very much.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Got its great to be
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Here, Michael Patrick, Shields, Ray Horriber when you look around
and say, yeah, he's doing that.
