Speaker 1 (00:13):
You're listening to Michigan's Big Show starring Michael Patrick, Shields,
Tony Kupper, Rock and the Lebron today. This is one
of my favorites. So you hit one of my favorite
triggers they have.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
I knew nothing about this band coming into all of this.
They have like the coolest music videos I've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
I don't know if you've ever they like go back
to all these eighties movies and throw different clips into it.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Oh I haven't sumer video. Yeah, they're really well done.
Oh all right, well I'll have to check those out.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Lebron For those at home who are interested, Stu Sandler,
this is our time frame.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Man, have you heard of LeBrock before?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I've never heard of Lebron. This is this is a
new one for me. But now you piqued my interest
in all these great jams you've been playing all day.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
So, so I got these shocks, you know, the shocks
headphones that you use for working out and what to
a display. One time, I think I was at my
bike shop there spin on an old town and I
just tried them just to see and this Lebrox song
comes on the headphones and it was so clear and
I'm like, what in the heck is this? So I
(01:15):
not only I know, not only like started putting putting
LeBrock on my playlist, but then I bought the headphones
because I like them so much, and so uh when
I when I'm out biking, Lebron's one of my favorites
to put on.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
So look at getting for Lebron today.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, I know it. I don't even know who these guys.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
They don't even go to concerts or anything around here.
I think they're British or something. I don't know, Tony.
Tony will tell us.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
The next sing.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, okay, So we were just talking NCAA tournament, and
I know, I know you are a Michigan homer. I
do got San Diego beating them in the first round.
Tell me why I'm wrong?
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Well, I mean it's fashionable. Well you know that's what
everyone's picking, because you know, San Diego forces the most turnovers.
I guess the NCAA. They're thirty and four. They haven't
lost since Christmas or something, and you know, Michigan turns
the ball over a lot. But I think they're gonna
pull it out. I do think Michigan's gonna win. I
mean Ken Tom only has Michigan up three points in
(02:13):
this game in their prediction. But I just think, you know,
San Diego doesn't have a player over six eight, except
they got one guy six to ten on the bench.
But they play that six to eight guy but most
of the time, and they're you know, I just think
Michigan's can be able to rebound the ball a ton,
and I think they'll keep the turnovers in control. And
I think they're shooting's been good all tournament. I think
(02:35):
they'll keep it up. I mean, the time's not great,
ten o'clock on a Thursday night after winning a tournament
on Sunday afternoon. Yeah, but I think they'll pull it out.
I think Dustin Vay's got this team in a great place.
I'm pretty excited for it.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I was not excited to see Michigan in the same
bracket as Michigan State.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
I'm just not happy with that. But you know, I can't.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Graham Couch yesterday told me, do not pick Michigan State
to win the if you want to win your bracket.
But here I have them in the Elite eight, and
I really want to put them in the final four.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
But I just can't. Did you put Michigan in the
final four or what did you do?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I do have Michigan in my final four, but I'm
that's more of my heart than my head, you know,
I do. Look, I think Michigan State's got an excellent
chance to win that bracket. All those matchups I think
go in their favor. Although if they play Michigan, that's
beating the team three times. Hard.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
That's why I'm not excited about that matchup. That's why
I'm kind of hoping San Diego knocks them out so
that we don't have to play them in the Elite eight,
because that You're right, that is not a matchup I'm
looking forward to for that exact reason.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Beating a team three times is tough.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
One of the things I thought was the most interesting
that Hondo said was that Auburn's that Michigan matches up
better with Auburn, that it doesn't do it what you
just me, which you know, I mean Auburn's best team
in the country. They have the best athletes and c
double as. That surprised me a bit.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
All right, Well, we could talk all segment, but I
wanted to have you on to talk about the some
new polling that we saw. John James is way up
in this poll that was done by an independent pollster.
I hadn't heard of these guys before.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
On Message, Inc.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Shows James with a forty three point lead over his
next closest competitor, Attorney General Mike Cox, sample sized with
six hundred.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
What did you make of that?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, well, actually I work for on Message and it's
a it's a firm that's been around for you know,
quite a while. Wes Anderson's lead pollster on that They've
done a lot of work in Michigan. And we did
a live polar call from March ninth to eleventh, six
hundred likely primary voters, and you know, John James is
showing just how strong he is. You know, he's run
(04:50):
in the you know, two state wides, he's run in
you know, Southeast Michigan and four consecutive cycles, and you
know it's not surprising he's got real intensity behind his name.
I d he was at sixty seven percent with Republican
primary voters favorable, with forty three percent strongly favorable, and
you know he's got you know, an image of seventy
(05:10):
seven percent favorable to two percent unfavorable with really conservative voters.
So it's it's this is a really tough and he's
got really strong image and it will be really tough
for somebody to beat him.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
What about Tudor Dixon?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
So we Uh, I just opened up my email this
morning and Mitchell did a poll for John over at
at Murray's. So John's my boss, and uh, he's got
You put John James against Tutor Dixon and all of
a sudden it's a close race for the nomination and
she doesn't know what she wants to do if she
wants the US senator governor.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Yeah, I think Mitchell, that's not right. I've seen numbers.
I think John James is in a strong position regardless
who he runs against. It terrem Dixon strong. You know,
she could give other people a hard time in the
Republican primary, you know, but no offense to Steve Mitchell.
Is he going to switch this one like on the
Kamala Harris huh Donald Trump all we did right before
(06:05):
the uh, right before the election.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Well, you know, Tutor Dixon has name id though, and
that's what the rest of this field does not have.
You know, Eric Nesba doesn't have the name ID. Yet
Mike Cox's people forgot about him over ten years. So
it is mildly believable that Dixon could give John James
a run.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Tudor's got decent name ida, it's not as strong as John's. Okay,
it's just not all right?
Speaker 2 (06:31):
What do you think on the Democratic side? Real quick?
Do you think it's Benson's toll lose?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
I mean, I think I think she's got a fight
on her hands. I mean, she looks like she has some,
you know, a decent lead right now. But you know,
Garland Gilchrist is you know, a serious contender. We don't
know who else is getting in. There's a real odd
collection of Democrats like Swanson and other people getting in
that race. I mean it's strange, but I mean Benson
(06:56):
looks like the bet to get through. And then the
question is is Doug on the pallet and how does
that affect you know, a Democratic nominee At that point.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
All right, thirty seconds left? The odds that John James
runs for governor? What would you put it at eighty?
Speaker 3 (07:12):
I mean, I don't know. We'll see the decisions is
but I think what this poll indicates is this p
runs will be the nominated all.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Right Stu Sandler, a political consultant on the Republican side
and a University of Michigan fan, as you
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Could tell, Thanks for joining us on the show.
