Speaker 1 (00:06):
Right right, right, right, right, right right.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Everybody? Welcome to the Mic and Ant Show. I'm one
of your co hosts, mab miss. This is my other
co host, Inspected, and I'm gonna let him introduce himself.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
What's up, my brother?
Speaker 1 (00:26):
What's good?
Speaker 4 (00:27):
It is your boy expecting and are ready to get
on these NBA finals.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Man, man, I hate you. It's spend. It's been a
ride getting here.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
I feel like it was started off cold and my
boys talk about in the playoffs it wasn't. It was
a lot of blowouts. Then it got hot. It was
a lot of good matches. The conference finals was a
bit underwhelming.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Well, I'll say the Western Conference was. The Eastern Conferences
was pretty exciting. It was every game was every game
was cool except for the last one. Yeah, blue them out.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, I just I mean we didn't even get Neither
series made a game seven, you know, I like, yeah,
true sevens.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
That's what I mean. That's why I was a little disappointed.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
But all in out, Okay, see, kept on their streak
they've been on all season. Took the Wolves out pretty
easily in the paces.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, it wasn't. It was a tough series. Tougher.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Then what the what the record ended as or what
the series ended as? But Paces, I mean won it
going away at the end. I was pushing for the
Knicks to pull that to a game seven. So all
in out we got Okay c versus the Paces in
the finals. What did What did you think about the
(01:48):
conference finals? And then touch on what you think is
gonna happen in the NBA finals.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Well, the conference finals are with you. The Western Conference
kind of underwhelming. All surprise Minnesota reading ya what you
would think after losing in the Western Conference finals last year,
they'll have more of a fight, But they really did it.
The only good game they had was Game three where
they blew out Okay See by forty forty points. As
(02:14):
far as the Eastern Conference, like I said, every game
was close. That series really could have gone either way.
I think if you're the Knicks, and even me as
a Knicks fan, the game that's gonna be kicking you
all off seasons. Game one, you're up fourteen with two
minutes left to play.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
You got to close that one out.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
And the fact that they blew that game it came
back to haunt them because if it had they won
Game one.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
You never know. Maybe they win it in six, or
maybe it does go seven. You never know.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
So I think that's the one game that's gonna haunt
them all offseason.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
But I will say that maybe.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
We slept on Indiana because I found out that since
January first, the two the two teams with the best
record in the NBA since January first is Okay see Indiana.
So it's no surprise that both teams made to the finals.
I think we kind of slept on Indiana because there
were the fourth seed in the East and we all
(03:12):
thought it was either gonna be Boston again or maybe Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
But Indiana there.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
They got hot at the right time, and they've been
one of the hottest teams in the NBA since January,
and I think we just all slept on them. And
as far as the finals, I think it's gonna be
an exciting series. I know a lot of people are
pissed off because it's two teams that they don't want
to see, and there's rumblings that's gonna be a low
ratings and I think it will be low ratings, But
(03:37):
I do think it will be an exciting matchup. Both
teams have great offenses. They put up a lot of points,
So I think it's gould be interesting series. I think
about exciting series. Unfortunately, though maybe not too many people
will watch it.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I damn fortunately. I agree the Paces.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I wouldn't say me personally, I slept on them because
I did expect them to make it to the conference final.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
They'll be Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, I just I just thought that the Knicks had
a little bit more grit this year than than what
ended up, you know, fully being displayed in that series.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
They might. I think.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Brunson just got worked this season. It just got He
just got to the point where it was like gonna
be all in nothing with him. It seemed like they
might be one star away.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Really but.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Getting into we'll get into that later, but getting ready
your coach isn't going to get you the piece you needed.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I was gonna say they think they're one coach with one.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Star with you know, I think they think that was
a big miscalculation. You know, like you said last time,
never get into politics. He might have wanted out, they
might have made an agreement. There could be tons of
reasons why this happened. But I believe that one star
and it doesn't even have to be like a top player,
(05:09):
you know what I'm saying, Like, honestly, could have just
been like a great sixth man, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
But they're like like one piece away.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
And the coach firing. I guess we'll see who they happened. Well.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I was gonna ask you this though, because like we
saw this happening.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I want to say, yeah, maybe twenty was twenty fifteen
or twenty sixteen, I can't remember, but Cleveland, remember they
lost in the.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Finals and they and then they fired their coach.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
They brought in Tyler lou and then they wanted the
next year. So maybe that's what the Knicks you're thinking.
Maybe it's just a coach. Yeah, but maybe I could
get a different coach, different voice. It took us over
the top.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
I guess that comes down. I would have to outside
looking in.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
He has the credibility, he has the name, he's proven
himself talk about multiple times.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I do believe he is a players coach.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
So I don't know if this is an internal thing,
but if this was just like an upper management and
you felt you needed a new coach, yeah, I mean
the new like he's a coach that probably could alured
you that next player there, like people love to play fan,
you know, So I just.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Don't I think go ahead.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
No, I was just gonna say, I just don't think
it's a smart decision or wrong. I know that that's
your team, so you could give probably a little bit
better perspective from like the fans side of it. But
just for me outside looking in, I think that's a
bonehead move.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Yeah, I mean as a fan, I thought, I think
it's a bonehead move too, because, like I said, this
is the farthest we've been in twenty five years, and
to get this far, you fired the guy that took
us there. And people got to remember too, when TIBs
got the job back in twenty twenty, like you know,
the Knicks were a laughing style.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
We had won a playoff series, you know, in over
a decade.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
So I thought, he's turned this franchise around, to turn
this team around.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
So I am surprised by the move. I will say
this though.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
One of the biggest knocks on TIBs, going all the
way back to his days as the coach of the Bulls,
is that he plays his starters too many minutes and
a lot of people feel like that's why those Bulls
teams they kept.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Getting hurt during the playoffs where it was Dereck.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Rose, Joe Kim Noah, Jimmy Butler, like everybody kept getting
hurt because he just rises, you know, his starting five
into the ground. And even in the playoffs with the Knicks,
like the same thing. One of the knocks on him
in the Eastern Conference finals was like, why not.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Play your bench?
Speaker 4 (08:01):
You keep playing the same six seven guys every game,
but you have a whole bench, use them. I mess
the knuck on him like he has like his he'll
play like six seven guys every game.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
He'll just ride those six seven guys to the ground.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
One thing, the one thing I would ask you.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Sorry to cut you out, bro, but one thing to
ask you is if he only trusts seven of those guys, right,
and you see he's only playing seven of those guys.
I feel like that's like the general managers job to
bring him. I believe they have twelve, but twelve players
on their roster just about yeah, so it's on the
(08:38):
GM to put players there that the coach has to
put in.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
You know what I'm saying, Like.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Well, yeah, I agree, but I think that, Like I said,
I think the knock on him is that he did
the same thing in Chicago too.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
No I know, but what I'm saying, and I'm not
even looking at these rosters in.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Front of me and don't have them. This is something
we could definitely go over another time.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
But if you look at those rosters, like if you
look at some of these teams that have they're ten
players deep, meaning they have ten good players they want
to get in even if some of them are just
for certain spots. They're rotating ten of them, maybe someone
for defense, some of the.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Rebound in the in the end, it goes like eleven twelve.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
B So yeah, so what I mean, I think that
and like Boston was like that for a while, so
I think And just to throw in there, if Tatum
doesn't get hurt, I still think Boston ends up in
the finals.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
But you think they come back three to one if
you just get hurt.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I think they come back.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
I still I still think that if Tatum doesn't get hurt,
the Celtics win that series. That's just that's just and
I'm that's not home biased because I'm you know, I'm
not a Boston fan, but just sometimes when you put
certain people's back against the wall, I think that that
they could pull out greatness and that three to one
(09:53):
isn't impossible no more. We've seen it now. Yeah, So
that's that's what it comes down too. But with that,
with that being said, either way, if your coach is
only rotating seven guys before you put not saying you
just saying in totality, like your owner or someone from
(10:17):
the outside, look at who the other five guys I
that might play into it, because some of these rosters,
if you look at it, they'll have like a center
that hasn't played in five years. He's just over there,
doesn't even dress like like for example, Love the guy
Haslam was like one of the that he trust the
members for like three years after he played.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
You know what I'm saying. So some of these, some
of these teams.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Rosters, when you look, it's like, there's a reason why
only seven eight of these guys are playing.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
I'm not gonna lie. I don't know. I don't know.
If you remember DeAndre Jordan, Yeah, he's still playing. Yeah.
I was surprised too.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
He plays for the Nuggets and I was and I
was surprised that for the Nuggets. He's been on the
team for like three four years. You gotta he want
to ring. And I don't even he'd even play. I
did even know he was on the team.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
This this this what I'm trying to tell you. Somebody's
gms ain't working. Hot it up, bro, Like, why is
no disrespect? Get your money? And actually, actually I'm a
fan in I don't even know he played no more.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
I was shocked to find out.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Yeah. But to make a long story short, that's what
I'm talking about. If he's been there three years and
they ain't got.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
In I mean, gott to ring sit on that bench.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
But what I mean is what is the GM doing?
Like is did they do? They talk about this?
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Like?
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yo? This is this is like an interesting NBA question.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I want to know how these players can sit on
teams for three years, right, taking up a roster spot,
getting paid when they don't even take up take off
their warm up. Yeah, and I ain't even talk about
the last two minutes in a thirty minute blowout.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
They don't never go well.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Yeah, he talked about he brought him up earlier. Donnas
haslong Like I know he retired last year, but in
my mind he retired five years ago because he didn't
play for five years.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Miami, Miami, they just kept him around because though he
was the quote unquote no team.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Captain, but he didn't play.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Yes, So that's that's what I mean. Like, but how
can this even as it look the NFL has bouku
roster spots compared to an NBA team, right, Just think
about it. They got an NBA team on offense and
defense minus one player, and then they got a plethroughout
other roster spots.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Right, so.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Some of these dudes are fighting Clarence scratching to make
the fifty two. You got dudes sitting there they ain't
played in five years on the twelve man roster. Y'all
gms are not ga bro like yo, they gotta be
influx like that should be like a waiting star or
like or potential like not. I would just give you
(13:09):
the lifelong contract. Just come over here and be a
cheerleader for five years before you retire, like.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Like we're gonna we're gonna pay you for what you did. Uh,
you know ten years ago when Lebron and they were here.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Yeah, So I'll say that to say this. If the
Knicks brought in two more players and just I don't
know who fills the twelve man roster, but just say
two of the guys that either there they ain't gonna
make the team or they're not playing no more. Right,
and you put two more guys that was good. I'm
(13:43):
sure that he'd find a way to get them in
the game. That's That's kind of what I'm saying. So
your rotation is only as good as the players you got.
Like I've you know, I've played on I've never like
football was my thing, but I've played you know, basketball
and in wild leagues and gentlemen's leaves and a whole
bunch of different things. Right, your rotation is only as
(14:05):
good as it is. Sometimes we had three good players
and we had to play the whole game, you know
what I'm saying. Sometimes you got so many good players
you could go in and out whenever you want because
you got people that could fill your spot. So I
think that's just kind of what it comes down to.
If you don't got the players, you're gonna run your
starters into the ground, And honestly, your starters would probably
(14:29):
prefer that then get benched out by dudes, is gonna
put him in like a twenty point hole instantly, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
So, I mean, fix your team.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
But the Knicks firing him, I just ended as it
being a bad move, bad a good move.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Well, I'll say this, the only way it's a good
move is if they can find like.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Their the NBA version of John Gruden where you know,
Chimpa bead Lot without Tampa bad made a mistake firing
Tony Dungee. They bring in Jon Gruden in the very
next year they win the Super Bowl. And so if
the Knicks can do something like that where whoever the
next coach is, can you take them over the top,
then it'll be a good move.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
But if not, then it's like, okay, what are we
doing here?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yeah? I agree, because.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Now the expectations for the new coach is not only
do you have to make it to the conference finals,
you gotta take that next step to get to the
NBA Finals and win a championship. You know, because like
as we just saw it, make it to the conference
finals ain't good enough, and you know we ain't been
there since two thousand, but it still ain't good enough
because you got fired.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yeah, and if you don't make the conference finals, it's
gonna look like a failure. But the good thing about
sports is you get a chance to either see if
you're wrong or right. So I guess now on on
that slippery slope, or wait and see if they make
the Eastern Conference finals, this is going to be a
nail by the all playoffs long if they don't make it,
that the worst part is and this is this is
(16:04):
where sometimes people just put in bad spots because here's
the thing.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Coming back next year.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Say the Celtics bring another star in and say them's healthy.
Not saying that happens. I would slow bop it. But realistically,
she only got to be healthy for the playoffs. Don't
really probably got to play this season much right right now.
So if if say they bring in someone that you know,
(16:39):
fill in FIM while he's in the he's in the
recovery process and it's a good play, then he comes back.
Now the new coach is looking at a Celtics team
that unless you brought in certain great because remember I said,
you're a Playhallway, not a coach, so you still have
the same problem. So even if you bring in a
great coach, if you don't bring in that player or
(17:02):
just say that Celtics get the player that they want,
this coach is set up for failure. You're not gonna
beat them next year. Like that's so Like I feel
like timms knew what he was doing and he pushed
it to the limit, and he probably had you know,
I'm just assuming had an idea of the small things
(17:22):
he needed to go in the next season to get
over that bridge.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
That he was just that right now.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Well, to me, it's not even about Boston though. It's
like they got to get over Indiana. Indiana's beat them now,
knocked him out two years in a row, and it's
your biggest rival.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah, I mean in Indiana.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
They gotta They got a young team, so they're gonna
be here for a while.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
They fair to say, we'll see how it goes going
into next year. Man, But all all I say is
all y out. My point is that you're bringing in
a new coach that I don't think you know, getting
himself into. I would have rather just stuck with Timms
(18:07):
well and.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Let's sty bring in at least they bring in Michael Malone,
the Nuggets coach who got fired. Uh, like a week
before the playoffs started, which which a lot of people criticize,
uh stan Kronky for that because they thought, like, what
are you doing?
Speaker 1 (18:24):
You just potentially cost your team a chance to win
the championship.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
I'll tell you that stan Kronki lets his he lets
It's like he does with the Rams. He lets his
coaches in general, manager just do everything. People can't blame
you stand for what he does, knows better things. He
just puts the money up. I mean, I ain't see
mcveighain fired when he lost the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
Ye, well that's I mean, I mean, the story hasn't
came out yet, and maybe it will, maybe it wouldn't,
but it's still weird that you fire your coach one.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Week before the playoffs start.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Man, it's like, what did what did he do or
what did he say to get himself fired when you
had a squad that could potentially win a championship this year.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
So also sometimes it's I mean late in the future
we might hear who knows it could be. I feel
like I don't even want to assume shit because this
could be like a whole bunch of stuff. But I'm
just gonna say it has to be a real big
reason for it.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
To happen the way it did. When it happened, I.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Wouldn't expect him to get another coaching job right now.
I feel like there's something that we're going to hear there,
and it's probably isn't doesn't got to be too crazy.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
But it's like it's one thing to fire him, but
it's like you could have wait until after the season,
like you had to do it right then and there.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
I mean, sometimes you gotta clear the room. Is what
it is. There's no right or wrong time.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
But I you know, like I just doubt that that
came straight down from stand because I doubt he's even
England with his with his NBA coach, right. But somebody
had to have brought it to him. He might have
got that. He might have got the text straight from
the joker like YO send him home now, like get
(20:14):
him out of it, like YO send him. I don't know,
but it had to be something big. But I guess
one thing I do want to throw out there in
touch on what you are kind of piggyback what you said.
I think this finals would be very exciting. I'm not
(20:35):
I'm not really too into I hate raidings. Personally anyways,
I don't think they'll take that big of a dive.
I think the NBA Finals is probably like as bulletproof
as it comes when it gets, you know, when it
comes to the NBA. So I think that they're pulling
Raidings off of that alone.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
I think, well, I mean last year, last year they
said the ratings did despite the fact that you had
the Celtics in the finals.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
This year you have no big market teams. I mean,
but I think the NBA as a whole though the
Raidings have been dipping for uh for a few years now.
I just think the NBA is in a tough spot.
But like I said, I agree with you. I think
it's gonna be an interesting finals. I'm actually excited to
watch it. But yeah, I just think the problem with
(21:25):
the NBA, and I mentioned this before, is that they
just don't market market their small market teams. And so
I think because like you have two small market teams
in Indiana and Oklahoma City, people just lose interest. So
they want to see, you know, big city teams. So
they want to see La they want to see New York,
they want to see Boston. No, nobody wants to see
(21:47):
Indiana or Oklahoma City.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
I think I think the NBA kind of is what
it is with the raidings right now. I don't know
if it's a marketing problem of what it is. I
know that they're definitely declined. But I have a funny
feeling that this finals ratings is gonna it's gonna surprise
some people.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Thank God, Boston is I want to say, it's not.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
It's not the same as it was before, like right now,
a lot of these like especially the younger generation because
me growing up, like NBA was a big thing for
you know, all the kids when I was young, we
was all into watching the NBA. Right, yes're here now,
people like, look like these generations is not the same.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Like I'll give you an example.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
If if somebody don't like Boston like now in this generation,
they're not watching that.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
That's that's just what it is.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
So I would just say Boston is not a university
liked team, right So a lot of I feel like
a lot of these younger kids will give the Thunder,
probably specific the Thunder and SGA a chance to watch
that final. So I think a lot of younger people
will probably tune into this one that wouldn't have tuned
(23:08):
in for Boston.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Also too, not to think about it, I think another
problem to the NBA has is that they're so star
driven because they do they don't market teams that market stars,
and so if you have a bunch of players, like
even though like SGA he's the m v P, not
too many people know who he is, Tyrese Halliburton for Indiana,
(23:33):
he's an up and coming, you know, star, but not
too many people know who he is because these.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Players are not getting marketed, marketed.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
You know, they still focus on Lebron, they still focus
on stephf So I think that's another issue too, is that,
like like in football, you know, they do a good
job of marketing the teams, not the stars. So it
doesn't matter who's on the field or who's playing whoever,
people are gonna watch the Super Bowl regardless. I think
for some of these others sports, it's kind of like, well,
(24:01):
if I don't know who's on the team, that I
just ain't gonna watch.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Yeah, I definitely agree with you there. I'm gonna throw
my prediction out there. I got okay see winning an
sg A being the MVP of the finals as well.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
How many games.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
I want to say seven. I think it'd be a
tough series six winning surprise me. I'll stick with it.
I think this will go seven.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
I'm gonna say Oklahoma City and six. I think that
the deciding factor would be I think the X Factory
chet Holgrew. I think his size can uh. I think
his sides could play issues. Uh for Indiana, even though
he is skinny, so they could bully him down low.
(24:54):
But he's he's tall and lanky. Yeah, and so that
that could have to play some issues. And he blocks
a lot of shots.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
And I would say too, he was born in the
right era because if he played in the two thousands,
was like shot off. Yeah, they'll kill his skinny ass.
But yeah, in this error, there's no there's really no
big man.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
So he's able to.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Get even the ones that a big one to shoot threes.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Yeah called Anthony Towns.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
All right, so we both got okay. See with that
being said, we'll move on to the next topic. I
know you've seen this. They got Travis Hunter practicing on
both sides.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Of the ball.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
I think he's doing that every other day, Ordell. So
one day he'll be on defense. One day he'll be
on offense. It might be weekly, but I believe I
read it with daily. How do you think that's gonna
go out? And where do you think he'll thrive at
the best one side of the ball.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Well, so far in the ot as he's killing it
playing corner and uh. And that was the thing coming
into the draft, is that the scouts so that he's
he's a natural born corner.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
He's a better dB than the year is wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
And I know he wants to try playing both positions,
but honestly, I think if he is that talented as
a dB, he should just focus playing dB and become
a lockdown, you know, corner and just you know master,
you know that one position.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
But we'll see how it goes throughout the season.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
All Right, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw a bold take.
I think he's gonna get killed that cornerback. I don't
think that's gonna last long and I don't I don't
see top five wide receiver ability, and personally I think
that I think it'll be good that wide receiver. I
(26:51):
do think he needs a boke up a little bit,
and that could be a little bit of the part
why I'm giving the Bowl take where I don't think
he's gonna play good Cornerback's fine for Jacksonville to tell
us he's covering Brian Thomas and show us short clips
and stuff. I've seen his feet work. He's a natural athletic,
(27:12):
beast freaking nature right. He has terrible footwork on both
sides of the ball, whether it's running his routes. And
I've seen him run good ones on the field in pads,
so don't get me wrong, I've seen it. I've also
seen him run the most atrocious, atrocious ones I've ever
seen in my life at practice. So I don't know
(27:33):
if he's trying to fool us or if he just
you know, hits another gale when he gets in the game,
which I've seen people that do that.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
But the way that.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
I'm seeing him standing lining up at cornerback is fine
in college. It's fine against your teammate who probably isn't
trying to kill you. It's not going to be fine
when you line up against another wide receiver like that.
That's not going to work against the DeVonta Adams. That's
not going to work against the Justin Jefferson. That's not
gonna work against the Nico Collins. I mean, I could
(28:05):
go down the list A'moran Saint Brown.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
I mean just just in his conference he has to
go up against uh Nico Collins, Jamar Chase.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Yeah, this is this is what I'm telling you. I
expect him to get killed after rip. I expect it
to be terrible. And not saying he won't be good
in the future, but I'll put it like this, I
expect Nico Collins to go for buck fifty both of
those games. Now, I don't think it's gonna be any
problem doing it. I don't think it's gonna look like
(28:38):
they have a shutdown corner out there. I just don't
expect that from it, you know, Like I get it.
A lot of rave around him. Looks like a great kid.
I'm not going to get into anything to do with
his matter of fact congratulations on I'm getting married. So
it's not about about any of that. I just don't
(29:01):
it's the feat man, Like if you just if you
just look at him, it looks like he plays too
much on his He relies way too much on his
athletic ability.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Than than other things.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Like the reason why Jama Chases is such a maniac
on the field, right, It's not just because he's you know,
a freaking nature. It's because all the little things like
his his stop starts, his cuts, his comebacks, his breakdowns.
You know, Like, I know you see those drills when
(29:40):
like they'll set up the net and you run through them. Yeah,
Like I want to go back and see him do
those drills because those those are the ones that like
I'm looking when he's running these routes or he's even
lined up on that cornerback, it just looks awkward.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
You know.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
It's like, I know, once the the play kicks in
and athleticism kicks in, he makes up for a lot
of that. But if you can fix that part of it,
it's gonna bold a lot better. Because I don't think
lining up or your feet being in awkward positions is
gonna work When some of these dudes are physically stronger
than you and that they obviously you know, know how
(30:21):
to use their hands. They're savvy, they've been in the
NFL for a while. It's just not going to work
on them. Like if you are, you are.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
You surprised that his feet work as a dB isn't
bigger seeing that he was coached all four years of
college by Dion Yo.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
Well, a lot of people say it's the greatest corner ever.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Absolutely, and these these are the questions I have because
if Dion didn't change that, who's gonna right.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
You see what I'm saying. So that's that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
And don't get me wrong, Like you might talk to
Dion Sanders and he might tell you, know what, I
tried to coach that out of him to the point
where I've realized it doesn't matter. It doesn't affect him.
It could be true, because to this day it hasn't.
It has not affected him. He's been arguably the best
player on every field he's been on, right, so it
(31:16):
hasn't affected him.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
And that's accurate.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
But that I don't think that means it won't affect him.
But that's that's the question for Dion, because like I said,
Dion might tell you look it, I realized it don't matter,
you know, Like I seen that every time I think
he's out of position, he overcomes it somehow. So I
(31:41):
guess that would be the question. But you're absolutely right.
If the best cornerback and the best cornerback in NFL history,
I don't think there's no debate. I'm not gonna be
one of those guys even gonna try debate in that.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
No.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
So the best cornerback in NFL history coached you for
four years and didn't change your feet work the wide receiver,
pot Deon's.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Not a wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
A little bit different the cornerback part, like, all right,
look at it's Shiloh, right, the cornerback.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
Uh yeah, well I think he I think Tampa's gonna
have him played in safety, but yers, yeah, and he
looks I think he looks the most like his dad.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Right, but yeah, he does.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Look at him standing up at cornerback, looks like I mean,
not gonna say he's Dion, but he got the he
knows how to line up now at cornerback. And he
actually looked real good at the at the at the
little bit of video as I've seen, but you know
the same thing.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
It's short clips.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I don't know how he didn't get drafted, but he
looks he looks the part when he lines up in
front of the wider receiver. And it's not all the time,
one hunter, but it's just sometimes to me, it just
looks like if a wide receivers jammed you because remember
there's five yards now, right, I think you're going down
(33:13):
Like I think if Nico Collins decides he's gonna bully
you at the line of scrimmage, you're gonna have to
fix your feet work because I don't think you could
stop him from doing it right now, that's just that's
just my personal opinion. I think that this year he'll
thrive at wide receiver. I think he'll probably get close
to double digit touchdowns and close to one thousand yards,
probably being the running for Rookie of the Year as
(33:36):
wide receiver. But I'm saying that now Bowl take he
gets crushed at cornerback year one.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Well, we'll see. I think.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
To answer your question about Charlot, the knock on him
was that he doesn't have the speed to play a corner.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
That's why he didn't get drafted small. I'm not he does,
but I'm hearing.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
I'm hearing that Tampa is going to move him to safety,
so we'll see how he does that safety. That might
be a better better position for him.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Yeah, I'm not and I'm not in no way informed
saying he's he's on Hunter's level or going to do
better than him in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
I don't. I don't. I won't say guarantee he won't.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
I just think that mechanics wise, he's better in that aspect.
Like if his mechanics was on Travis Hunter, I think
Hunter would be a lot better right now. Like he
just does seem like you got the athleticism, lock down
the mechanics, That's that's all I'm saying, and then you
could take it to the next level because he had
(34:43):
he has the traits to be probably top five on
both sides of the ball. I just don't see it
yet off off of Hunter though, So we don't. I mean,
I don't ramble off Kyle Pitt's availability.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
I'm up he's on the trade block.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Yeah, I'm upset that this wasn't.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Maybe it was known in the NFL communities, but I
would have loved him to come to the RAMS now.
It makes zero sense unless he was getting, you know,
moving out for Higbee and another tight end, which I
doubt for the simple fact that Pitts don't block. I
don't know about Ferguson, and Higbee's probably workhorse when it
(35:25):
comes to blocking, So it makes absolutely no sense. With
that being said, tell us your best fits for Kyle
Pitts and how much you think, oh what you think
is value is at this point.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
I think he's very valuable.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
I think I know people want to label him a
bus but as we said off, as I told you
off here, I think his biggest problem is that he's
played most of his career with disbond Reader as his quarterback,
and last year he actually had a real quarterback or quarterbacks,
he put up a I think I think he had
his best year last year with Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
And minor Ben his rookie year, if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Oh yeah, and that's that's the year he had Matt Ryan,
So I mean pretty much like his rookie year, and
then last year is like, you know, give him a
decent quarterback, he could put up numbers. I'm looking at
CBS right now. They're thinking he's either gonna go to Dallas.
They got Dallas, Jacksonville, and the New York Giants as
(36:31):
the best fits.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
For him one of them.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
And I think there's one of them that I prefer
you went to. And I could almost guarantee I probably
picked the right when he goes to But I'm gonna
let you go first.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Well, out of those three teams, I would like to
see him go to either Jacksonville or New York jackson
for pretty much the same reason. I think for Jacksonville
he'll be a nice target for Trevor Lawrence, a nice
tight end help him and their pretty much the same age.
They can pretty much grow together. And for the Giants,
same reason, he'll be a nice safety blanket for jackson Dark.
(37:09):
So you know, if you want to double up Melik
Neighbors on the outside, you can just dump it off
the middle to you know, Kyle Pitts will be nice
safety blanket at tight end. Or you could play Kyle
Pitts in the slot and have him run wide receiver
or rouse too, because he has the speed.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
To do that.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
So I think Jacksonville and the Giants probably the two best.
For the Cowboys, I don't I don't think they really
need them. They have a decent tight end already.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
And not even that it means he's in a contract, Yeah,
I don't see them paying them. So, I mean, you
just kind of did that with Pickings. So you're gonna
have two people over there with contracts undecided. Where at
the end of the year. You could have two people
walking out the door.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Yeah, but Jared Jones Jared Jones enough to do some
shit like that.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
That tis true. Tis true. But my guess.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Out of those teams, right, and then I'll throw you
just a couple of dots, it's jackson bro for a
few reasons. He instantly replaces Evan Ingram instantly. Trevor Lawrence
utilized Evan Ingram. He's getting like ten targets a game.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
At one point. Yeah, that's Kyle Pitts.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
I believe it's better than him if he got that
that amount of targets, right.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Yeah, because Evan Ingra was a beast a year they
made the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
I do also believe that with the aw connection, that
they're starting to realize that the NFL is a star
driven league, kind of also like wrestling Hunter for like
Pitt's revive his career.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
He's another top five pick.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
I feel like he he fits that mold of probably
what they're trying to do stack stars. So I would
say out of them three, Jacksonville probably give them the
most capital and they'll probably give him his contract instantly
if they did make that trade. The other teams that
I wouldn't mind seeing him on. I'm not interested in
(39:19):
Dallas Giants. I could see it, but if I'd feel
bad for him if he got sent there personally, so
I'm not gonna do that to the boy.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
I think the Giants. I think the Giants could be
a good situation. The only thing that will scare me
if I'm Kyle Pitts, is that you don't know if
the coach is going to be there next year, because
there is rumors he might got he was gonna get
fired last year.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
I'm just trying to keep him again.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
After all the drama he just went through in Atlanta,
the ups and downs. You don't want to go to
one of the shakiest franchise in the NFL. That's like
like the Browns, the Giants, the Jets, all those teams
that just wouldn't be on my block. I'm not in
my right eye if that's the case, i just stay
in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
I won't even up and move nothing.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
Just figure it out, you know, like the other teams
that I wouldn't personally, wouldn't. I mean, I think it
would be nice to see him on. The Bengals are
definitely a team that I mean they'd be dangerous with
the Kyle Pitts.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Oh yeah, you put Kyle Pits with Jamar.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
Chase and t Higgins unlessen just give Joe Burrow the
MVP right now.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Yeah, So that's like that one, right, There is just
one that stands out. I think the Texans is maybe
another team that stands out. Those are probably my top
two teams. If I had to throw a wild card
in there, I would like to maybe see him on
the Las Vegas Raiders too.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
And I know that's.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Maybe not a wild upgrade over the Giants, but they
do got Genty. I feel like they got Brady over there.
Geno has stability.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
So the only problem with the Raiders though, they have
the rookie of the year in the Brookers.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
I know, but but I think this is what I
was going to tell you. This is what I was
going to tell you, and you you thanks for leading
me up to it. Bowers is an overall tight end, right,
He does it all, he blocks, he does everything the
right way. Kyle Pitts is more of a wide receiver
(41:34):
to me. What don't the Raiders have.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
A wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
For them?
Speaker 3 (41:41):
All wide? The two tight ends like that? Like that
right there. If you have Geno Smith with and Genty
you know, lives up to all the hype, and then
you got Bowers who could do it all, and you
got Kyle Pitts. Now you just need one wide receiver.
(42:04):
I guess Mayas is serviable, serviceable like because those those
are your threats. The two tight ends in the running
back and it's Gino. I don't expect it to air
it out anyways. You got two tight ends that could
get well.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Pete Carroll doesn't even like airing it out. He wants
to run the football.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
Yes, And now you got a blocking tight end that
can catch spectacularly. A catching tight end that I mean
is a blazer when it comes to running and Gino
isn't gonna throw it down. Both of them are great
after the catch. It just plays in perfect I think
with Genty, if the Raiders ever want to go out,
(42:43):
say if that was their lineup and they went out
next year and they bring in a young quarterback to
grow behind Gino and they get a great wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
Now we're talking. You see what I'm saying. So I just.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
Would like to see him on Vegas because I think
with Boois being it gives him the ability to be him,
which is more just a let's go get the ball
type a tight end. You know what I'm saying, doesn't
him being on the end of the line doesn't really
do nothing for him. He wants to stand up and
run out like a wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Let him do it.
Speaker 4 (43:18):
Another team, I hope that this doesn't happen. But another
team I can see him go to is Kansas City
because Kelsey's getting older and I can see them making
a move like that like they did last year for
uh DeAndre Hopkins.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
I definitely could see it too. There's there's I mean,
there's I mean, there's a few situations that I wouldn't
mind seeing him in. But I just want to see
him get to a team that understands that he's not
going to be your in line tight end, Like there's
no reason you just like line him up in the
(43:53):
slaughter is saying find you. I think he's the best.
You find your best mismatch guy, you know. So it's like,
if you could get him out, I mean all the
way out to the right against their shortest cornerback, or
you could get him in the middle in the slot
against a linebacker, A safety. He's the guy you're moving
(44:13):
around because he's your chest piece.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
So when you do the motion, it's Pitts.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
See who you can get him on, Get him on
the best matchup and five yard dump off. He's getting
you fifteen twenty.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
Now that you say that, another team just popped in
my head, the Broncos, because I could see Sean Payton
using them like that.
Speaker 3 (44:34):
They got Ingram, That's where he went, so yes, right, yeah,
but I mean at the end of the day, I
think Ingram only got a year or two, so you
you're definitely right, that's what he took Ingram for. He
was like, yep, well, well, I mean hopefully Pitts, I
(44:55):
mean gets into it personally. I guess the lat the
dock course, I would say I would like to see
him staying Atlanta and just grow with Penix because I
think Panis will get get him right if they if
they give.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
Him the time to do it.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
But off of mister Pitts, what did you think about
the news of rag now retiring? You think that this
is gonna put a drastic dent and what the Lions
do this year?
Speaker 1 (45:23):
I don't, I don't.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
I don't think he's gonna put a dent into what
they're gonna do this year. I am surprised that he
did retire because the Lions are one of the favorites
to win the Super Bowl this year, and so he
would think that, you know, he would want to play
and get a chance to win a ring.
Speaker 1 (45:40):
So I was definitely surprised. And he's still young.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
I mean, he's only thirty, so I don't know why
he decided to make a decision, but I mean, shout
out to him, and you know, hopefully he enjoys life and.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Whatever he wants to do with the rest with for
the rest of his life.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
But as far as the Lions are concerned, I don't
think it's gonna put too much of a dant because
I know the center is the quarterback of the offensive line.
But I'm pretty sure the Lions they drafted the offensive
lineman in the draft in the second round.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
And not to cut you off, mind and got sat
in last year too. I understand no idea.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
I could look it up real quick, but yeah, so
I know they drafted an offensive lineman. I don't know
how much it hurts them in the long run, because
I mean, we did see this with the Eagles last
year where Kelsey retired and they didn't even miss a beat.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
They still wanted to Super Bowl without them.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (46:45):
So I mean for the Lions, it could be the
It could be the same thing where whoever they have
on their roster, they could just plug them in and
won't won't miss a beat.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
They Yeah, they they look like they might have been
prepared for this. Bro So that number all right, let's
see they took all right, they went with that now
at number fifty no no offensive tackle. Yeah, they took
offensive guy Tate Rattledge. They took another offensive got Miles Frasier.
(47:20):
They took two.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
So second round, the second and fifth round is when
they took them.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
Actually they're saying that the kid they drafted in the
second round, Tate Rutledge, is gonna be uh recognized replacement.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
So maybe they were prepared for this.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Use the second round pick on it. It looks like thing. Yeah,
good for them. I didn't, I kind of I don't
know they did. I just didn't.
Speaker 3 (47:59):
That doesn't Usually for a player that to like slim
a team out the usually has to be like a
problem there.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
I didn't expect that.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
They definitely will I won't say definitely, but they looked
like they was a bit prepared for it, and I'd
agree with you unless and remember, I believe that if
if he was a complete disaster and it was just
a center that was, you know, drastically going to cost
them the season, they probably could go out and get one.
(48:29):
So I don't expect that to be drastic. If it does,
like I said, I expect them to just make another
move to get it, right, I guess, yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
I mean they're saying that this kid has been working
with the he's been working with Jared Golf in the
first team offense all off season.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
So it looks like the lines we were prepared for
the prepared for this.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
You know, maybe he told him after the season, like hey,
I'm thinking about retiring or something, or if I just
need some time off, and he just decided to make
this decision.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
But it looks like the Lion's been preparing for it
for a while.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
Yeah, he probably just had to wait for a certain
day to kick in to retire, probably for some type
of salary cap purposes. But we're gonna we're gonna end
this show with a bang, all right. So we got
we got the top discussions, discussion that's been going on
right now. We got mister Stefan Diggs and Kddie B
(49:29):
pottying on a boat. We've had a plethora of rumors
from tanky stuff and.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
Baggies to.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
Releasing him, to not releasing him, to he's just enjoying himself.
So he's the worst person in America. I mean this,
I've seen the most regular takes on this subject, all
the way down to the most wildest takes.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
I want to ask you is, how do you feel
about it?
Speaker 3 (50:03):
Give us your whatever you want to touch on first,
wherever you want to go here, you're fine.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
Well, I just want to start off by Senate.
Speaker 4 (50:11):
The Patriots have just announced they're not going to release something,
so we could put that rumor to bed. But yeah,
but my thoughts on it was just like, okay, whatever,
this man just enjoying life.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
He's having fun with this girl.
Speaker 4 (50:26):
And I mean, if Cardi B was my girl, I'd
be having fun with her too on the yacht. And
I mean they're just enjoying joint life. And for people
to have a problem with it, I'll just say, like,
look up Wilt Chamberlain and all the stuff.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
He was doing in the sixties. Man, he admitted to
you know, sleeping with over three thousand women.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
Yeah, hep they said he was sleeping with like five
women a night. He got the most women under his
belt that probably anybody.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
And he even admitted before he passed away there like
he might have some kids out there that he just
never knew about because he slept with so many women.
And uh, back back in those days, you know, uh yeah,
back in those days, there's no DNA test, there's no
child support, so he was just living his best life, man.
And so what I mean like for uh and then
(51:23):
also to uh, you know, Michael Irvin, Lawrence Taylor.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
I mean, a lot of a lot of famous athletes
have done some.
Speaker 4 (51:29):
Ship in the past that we just don't know about
because there was no social media. And as we said
off air, like if his girl, if he wasn't on
that boat, would CARDI b would anybody even care?
Speaker 2 (51:42):
Probably not man, probably wouldn't care at all.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
It's just a lot of things that I think, factoring jealousy,
he's a young, rich black man.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Uh, there's there's a whole bunch of things.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
But I think that yeah, he got caught on the boat,
not only that he got ten other beautiful women cheeks
out everywhere.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
Cake pocket.
Speaker 3 (52:07):
It's like, so at the end of the day, I
get why some people are mad. I don't got hate
in my blood, so I don't. I don't take that way.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
I can't. You know, let the man enjoy himself. I didn't.
I told you this off here.
Speaker 3 (52:22):
There was no rumblings I would here Presty that he
was going to get released. It just logistically, unless there
was an out to completely escape all of that money,
it makes no sense because it's going to be a
cap hit disaster for the next couple of years. It
just is going to destroy their cap even though they
(52:42):
have a lot of cap money. This, you know, signing
the player for three years sixty nine million dollar a
day and releasing them a couple weeks later. Go look
at what the Raiders cap hit took. You remember when
they gave Antonio Brown all that money and I had
to trade him.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Oh yeah, they had the Dare Rebisma after he off
on the GM.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Yeah yeah, excuse me.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
Yeah, Now they go look at what their cap.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
Did, what he did to it.
Speaker 3 (53:09):
It's like, bro, they they paying all that money anyways,
and it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
Make the cap hit be ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (53:16):
So logistically it would have been a way bigger night
man than saying, hey, bro, next time you're on the boat,
no cameras.
Speaker 4 (53:23):
Yeah, well and knowledge that. But then it's like it
defeats the purpose of why they brought him in. They
brought him in because they're hoping that he can help
Drake may take that next step and hopefully, you know,
the Patriots can make the playoffs because you look at
that division, I mean, outside of Buffalo, there's really no threat.
Speaker 1 (53:43):
So I mean, if the Patriots Drake.
Speaker 4 (53:45):
May could take that next step and they win like
nine or ten games, they could be a wildcard team
this year.
Speaker 3 (53:51):
I think honestly, if the Patriots get it together, they
might have Buffalo's number.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
Yeah, that's the thing. So, like, I don't.
Speaker 3 (54:01):
I put this all right, I'm got what Let's ask
you this for a second. First, let me tell you this,
Stephan Diggs. I got no problem with what he did.
I didn't believe he was getting released, nor he should
he get released. I just think he needs to be
maybe a little bit more careful with the cameras out
when you're partying. Tell some of the shorties that to
(54:24):
enjoy themselves, but get off the phone, Like you don't
need to record me every two years.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
Yeah, that's that's the problem with social media is that
everybody thinks that you got to record everything and everything
has to be posted.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
But it's okay to just keep some shit to yourself.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
Not just that.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Like I'm sure he would have took pictures with all y'all,
but like you're recording them where he clearly don't understand
you're recording them. Like, just chill a bit, you know
what I'm saying, Like there's there's a privacy. You know,
the word privacy is there for a reason, now, you know,
just just a little bit, right, not everybody needs to know.
With that being said, seen this question online, I answered it.
(55:03):
I got attacked. You may or may not see it,
but let's touch it. Anyways, I'm getting named four quarterbacks.
One has to be released. I'm gonna let you go
first or go after you. Obviously, you pick one. Give
me your reasoning, no right or wrong answers here, clearly right, okay,
(55:24):
but these are the four quarterbacks, right, and we'll talk
about right now. We're not projecting, you know, for the
next ten years, next five years, just right now.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
This is the decision.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
Who are you releasing?
Speaker 4 (55:50):
If I had to choose one I was out of
those four, I'll say, uh, Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
So we'll probably agree on most points because the answer
is definitely Josh Allen, in my opinion, the easiest one. Right, Mahomes,
you got to take off this list. He's like he's
heading towards goat to status. You you can't you know,
he's not moving. Burrow has made a super Bowl. Not
(56:24):
only has he made a super Bowl, he beat the
Chiefs to get there.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
That should have should have beaten them a second time too,
if it was for a questionable roof in the passer.
Speaker 3 (56:36):
Yeah, he's the one where they say the Bengals might
have the Chiefs number in the playoffs. Right, So that's
why I got him at too.
Speaker 4 (56:44):
Well that he's also the winningness quarterback in Bengals history already.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
Not only that, look at his numbers from last year, Like, really,
look what he's doing. Like he's doing something special. Now,
had the Bengals not been terrible, he might have really
been the MVP last.
Speaker 4 (57:00):
Year Honestly, you could make a case that he should
have been the MVP because his numbers are better than
the MVP Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Yeah, this is Josh Allen had just better team.
Speaker 2 (57:11):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
Now, so we come down to the other two guys,
because I don't think that like I've seen some people
saying Joe Burrow's dancing, I don't see how he's been
to a Super Bowl, Trump's anything any of these other
quarterbacks did. I don't care about the MVP, which is great.
You had a great season. I think Burrow could have
had that to last year. But you got to get
(57:35):
to the game, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
So to beat the man, you gotta beat the man. Right.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
Burrow almost did it because he beat the man. He
just lost to another man. That's it, y'all haven't beat
the man yet, right. So now we got Lamar and
we got Josh. Throw the MVPs out the window because
they I mean they both got MVPs.
Speaker 2 (57:57):
Right.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
What it comes down to is not a personal thing.
Who you think is the better quarterback, right, and who
do you think does the most for their team? And
I believe the answer would be Lamar Jackson, Like what
(58:21):
what Lamar does with his legs, what he does with
his arm, the threat that he brings. I know he
had Henry last year, but for most of his career,
who did he have at all?
Speaker 1 (58:36):
JK. Dobbins?
Speaker 2 (58:38):
What wide receivers?
Speaker 1 (58:42):
Yeah, can you name any?
Speaker 4 (58:44):
I think to me, I think I think to me
that the I think it comes down to is playoffs,
because you know, when the people want to when it
comes to Lamar, it's all about its inability to get
it done in the playoffs. For whatever in the way
he plays in the regular season, he hasn't been able
(59:04):
to duplicate that in the playoffs. At the same time,
you know, Josh Allen, he's had a little bit of
playoff success and he's won more playoff games. But as
we talked about before, if he has to face the
Bengals or if he has to face the Chiefs, he
loses every time.
Speaker 3 (59:23):
Yeah, every time. And this is the thing you could
blame it on. And I know a few of those
games he probably should have won. BA he did it,
you know what I'm saying. So my thing is this
when it comes to and I don't get me wrong,
I get it like I get the doguments if someone's
you know, eight and four in the playoffs, it's better
(59:47):
than being owned for Like, don't get me wrong, I
do get it right. But my thing is this, if
neither one of them made the super Bowl yet, what
do we even argue either one of them done anything
in the playoffs? Like if you eight and four and
you have one super Bowl trip with a loss, Hell, yeah,
(01:00:09):
you eight in four, but you lost every second round
or you know, whatever the case may be. It's like, bro,
listen right, those wins stop meaning that much. Bro, you
know what I'm saying, Like, you're getting a couple of wins, like,
but you're not getting to the super Bowl right. So,
(01:00:29):
And I don't mean the super Bowl means everything. I know,
it's a team sport. I don't want to get away
from that. But when you're a perennial super Bowl favorite
every year and you ain't sniffed the super Bowl, I
ge't this Maybe like a little bit of an overrated
(01:00:53):
push from people that makes him be my pick. But
if I wanted to start a franchise right now, I'm
taking them.
Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
I think Lamar gives Annie Ross the better chance to win,
And people say no, Josh Allen had. He didn't have
stuff on Diggs. Jabe Davis wasn't pretty good when he
was over there. He's had wide receivers. He just had
a Mari coop and made him look bad somehow.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Well, I want to throw another quarterback at you, though,
because people look at he's had playoff success, he's been
to a super Bowl. Well, people look at him like
he's ass. And that's Jared Goff, who I think finished
third in the MVP last year.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Yeah, they're crazy. Golf's a beast, and I make it.
I could give you. I'll give you the quickest rundown ever.
He changed every franchise he went to. That's from high
school to college to the NFL. Right, go, you could
check it all the day. Back to high school. He
got to the team, they sucked, made them good. He
got to Cal they sucked, he left, they was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
He got to the Rams. Guess what they sucked. He
brought them to a super Bowl on his rookie contract.
There's not one other quarterback in the NFL that brought
a team to a super Bowl on their rookie contract
that people would say his ass.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
They just wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
There's people that made it through their rookie contract, got
a new huge deal, and still still never sniffed the
Super Bowl. But yet somehow, then I asked, come on, bro, like,
I'm gonna throw this out here, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Just gonna put it simple.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
As a Rams fan, we know why Jared Goff got traded.
This has nothing to do with football performance, and we
know how it happened. When it happened, the kid would
have never got his money. They knew he was worth
his money because he brought them to a super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:02:57):
He changed what the Rams was doing.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
All of a sudden, a few text messages leaked and
he was the worst player in the world. Now, I'm
not going to get into what those text messages said,
but if you look at that timeline, everything got sour
after that point. They was talking about trading him. During
the Seattle playoff game that he was winning with a
broken thumb. He won the game, won the game with
(01:03:22):
a broken thumb, and during the game there was already
rumors about him being traded.
Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Next week, I played Russell Wilson that game too, with
nine fingers.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Yet the next week and showed he was tough because
broke his finger got up still won the game. Right,
There was questions about that. Right absolutely showed his toughness.
Right then went to Green Bay injured, didn't have the
greatest game, and when that game ended, it was already
announced he got traded at the time where you can't
(01:03:53):
even be negotiating trades. It made absolutely no sense. So
it is what it is now. I look at it
like this, and I think McVeigh will agree with this.
I don't think it's a boat take. He tried to
sabotage the kid, and I love McVeigh, you know what
I'm saying, But you did over personal stuff, Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
You tried to sabotage.
Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Him, and you made a lot of people believe he
sucked and he couldn't win without you. I had the
media saying he never won the game without Sean McVay. Now,
Sean McVay hasn't beat Jared Goff since he's been in
Detroit uniform. Not in the playoffs, are a regular season.
Jared Goff's done nothing but prove people wrong in the
(01:04:34):
cold weather. I mean, he's done stuff in Detroit, no
disrespect Stafford didn't do so.
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
Now another saying another saying he can't win without Ben Johnson.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
So we'll see this here.
Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
And I guarantee that the Lions don't don't they don't
slow down a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Bro they're loaded, we get out.
Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
I will say, I will say this is only five
quarterbacks have taken two teams to a to a conference championship.
That's Joe Montana, Tom Brady, pet Benny, Kurt Warner, and
Jared Goff with two teams. Four of them already in
the Hall of four of them are Hall of Famers.
We see how career plays out.
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
I say like this, if the Lions and I believe
as long as the head coach stays the same, and
I don't see why they're getting rid of him and
his belief in Jared Goff stays the same, I'm gonna
go on a limb here. This would be probably clickbait
(01:05:40):
that they'll be killing me about for the next four years. Right,
God forget them a super Bowl in the next four years.
There's God believe in him. That's all it is. You know,
I think the Lions already have a team to win
a Super Bowl. Then Golf has a has one of
those and felt stories that when he gets won, it
(01:06:04):
says it'll be a great story, not just with Detroit
but for him too.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
And I don't I don't believe none of those none
of that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
You know, all the media stuff we had to watch
when the Rams gave up on him as someone that
watched what he did for us, like you watch the
passes he was doing in that in that fifty point
shootout with the Chiefs, and then to watch people that
don't watch the Rams tell you he don't got it
was actually a bit ridiculous. I mean, like that's it's stupid.
(01:06:35):
The kid was the number one in the draft and
brought us listen hold on the number one picking the draft,
brought that same team to the super Bowl on his
rookie contract?
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
Was did that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
In only his third year?
Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
And no, who did that ever? Yeah, I don't know
if you gonna find anybody.
Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Now, maybe Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
Now, yeah, there you go, But no, no third rounder.
I'm talking about the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
Number one pick in the draft.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
Number one.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
You know that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
Pressure, the number one picking the draft, right, Hayton Mannon
ain't do it. None of these guys that go.
Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
I was gonna say, I was gonna say maybe Eli,
But I don't know if he was on his rookie
on his rookie cartrail.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
No, I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna tell you who
I think the other one is. I think it's Joe Burrow.
Speaker 1 (01:07:28):
Oh yeah, he did it because that was only a
second year.
Speaker 3 (01:07:30):
But you are going to give you We're going to
give you the funny thing. That's why find hilarious. Go
look at his player comps coming out of the drafts.
You know what's comparable comparisons was Jared Goff. Yes, they were.
That's why it's fucking hilarious. When people say Golf's ass
and Borrow's top five, He's still your dad. You're still
(01:07:50):
trying to follow his footsteps.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
I believe Golf can get them one right. Anybody that
says he's not good bro, you know watching him or
you just don't know balls. It's crazy, literally, because no
one that gets drafted number one overachieves and they tell
you they're bad after it. Just how you overachieve as
the number one pick.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
No one expected the Runs to make it to a
super Bowl that quick with you look.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
At the first year he looked like that first year
with Fisher, I felt like running through a wall when
he got it, and I was like, oh my god,
I don't know if this kid got it all of
a sudden, he was in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
Well said, I believed in him after that first year,
only because of what Todd Gurley said. Because Tom Gurley
came out and said that they were running the high
school offense.
Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
And I was like, you know what.
Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
That's that's probably why he's struggling because they running the
high school offense.
Speaker 3 (01:08:47):
I would agree, but I mean Fisher's deep. I'm gonna
give Fisher's credit. Fisher does not know anything about offense.
It's just I don't know why he even tried running
a high school offense. He needed to bring some guys now.
But Fisher with the Rams always had a good defense,
(01:09:09):
Like he's a defense guy. Like even even I made
some jokes a few years ago, Well I was saying,
I would still hire Jeff Fisher as a defensive coordinator.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
He'd probably give.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
You a top three to five defense in the NFL
because he gets that, you know what I'm saying. He
just doesn't doesn't get any much of the offense.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
He just doesn't.
Speaker 4 (01:09:30):
Yeah, I think Jeff Fisher kind of reminds me of
Doc Rivers in the NBA where they keep getting an
opportunity after opportunity, because I think Jeff Fisher he got
so many opportunities because he was still living off taking
the Titans to the Super Bowl ninety nine and losing
to I think Doc Yeah, so I think Doc Rivers
(01:09:51):
he still gets so many opportunities because he's living off
that one championship.
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
You want the Celtics in eight.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Yeah, he's kind of similar, Like he's he gets his
teams to play great defense.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
But see, that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
I think, if you're you're great at one thing, they
expect you to bring in other.
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Coaches to do other things, like Jeff Fisher.
Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
Just I don't know, Like if Jeff Fisher was the
defensive coordinator and Sean McVay was the head coach and
offensive coordinator, they probably would have won a few Super
Bowls together because Jeff Fisher, in his defense wasn't the problem.
The same thing where sometimes Sean McVay has problems with
his defense, like.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
I can't and it's been when was the last time
we was good at stopping the run?
Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
Probably to go back to the Jeff Fisher years.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
All right, and what stops the run?
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
The interior linement.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
And if it gets through you, if the holes are opening,
who is your first line of defense against the running back?
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
Supposed to be your linebackers?
Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
All right? Now, what position this year might be a
little different? Now, look a little better. What's the one
position that we don't value right now? Is a ran?
Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
Linebackers?
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Did I? I mean I believe I just answered the
question for them? Right? Can't stop the running? You don't
value linebackers? Now? Why did we not make it to
the Super Bowl last year? Again?
Speaker 3 (01:11:26):
Because take called us all right a couple of times
in a row, bro like, look it, no way, Jeff
Fisher would be fun. That's that Jeff Fisher shit on offense.
That's what I'm trying to tell you. So don't get
me wrong. Jeff Fisher can't coach a liquor offense. But
sometimes it looks like our guys now can't coach your
(01:11:48):
liquor defense. And I know it stepped up last year,
and I think that has to do with just drafting
well like Verse and Fisk and these players really getting
out the quarterback and getting in the backfield hides a
lot of our deficiencies. But even last year we still
didn't Spates looks real good.
Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
I think he will be. But if you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
Mean to tell me that a super Bowl winning team
thinks that no linebackers in an unrestricted undrafted free agent
as your main linebacker is gonna make you good at
the run, I could tell you that it's not.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
It's just not.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
That's that's why they got destroyed through the run game.
Right now, hopefully Land I think it's landman, he's alright.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
With the run.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
They got Chris Chris Paul is actually a real good player.
I don't know how he was there that late in
the draft. They still got Spates, which he's he's good.
But like I said, there's a reason why guys go undrafted,
and it doesn't mean they can't be good, you know
(01:12:58):
what I'm saying. But what it means is don't bank
on these guys to fix a problem that you haven't
fixed with with I mean, Ernest Jones wasn't fixing it,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:13:09):
So yeah, and then then he get traded to Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Right, and then he got traded from there to Seattle,
and then he might I think Seattle just gave him
a contract.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
But bottom bottom line is.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Right now, I think Shoeler is gonna eventually mold into
a great defensive coordinator. But for the main say mainstayer
Sean mcvay's coaching tenure.
Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
Great on our offense, not so much on defense.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
Other than that, about uh, I was gonna say, speaking
of Shoeler, you talking about feeling pressure whenever he gets
a head coaching job.
Speaker 1 (01:13:49):
So many people and compare him to his grandfather.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
Oh, they already was. They already was saying it last
year when he got the job. They were saying, he's
a nepotism baby.
Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
What I mean, like like his grandfather's the winning coach
in NFL history. So they're gonna try to They're gonna
try to see like, okay, can he be just as
good as his grandfather?
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
And I'll tell you now, dance is now. It's like,
come on, come on, bro, Like we gotta stop setting
the by too high for these kids.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
We touched on that before.
Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
Let them just be great, Like, don't don't do that
to that man, Like, let's try to have them pull out.
Pull out, don's dusty old shoes, dog, try to fill them.
Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Don't do it. Bro's like just nah, brother.
Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
But other than that, you have anything you want to
touch on before we wrap up.
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
No, not that. The circle back to our Jared GoF conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
If he's gonna have a less storybook ending and winning
Super Bowl, I think the next two years will be
the best time to get it done. This year the
super Bowls could be in his hometown, and then next
year the super Bowls could be in LA. So what
a storybook that would be if you comes back to
LA when the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
Spoiler alert, He's not winning this year because we winning
this year. Yeah, so that ain't happening. But next year
in LA sounds like the story the NFL needs. I
give the younger brother one as long as we get
ours this year. I mean, he could get his next year.
That's that's all fine with me. I mean unless unless
(01:15:24):
we get when I might get a little greedy and
want to maybe you can get one now because we
might want to be one in LA too. But but
if we win this year, he can have that one.
It's all right, it be.
Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
It'll be no better way to win the super Bowl
than on San Francisco's field.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
Yeah, yeah, I agree, especially like if you could beat
Detroit and then go win on San Francisco Field Stafford
being his glory right there.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:15:59):
And I also to want to say, I'm sorry Eagles fans,
but your season's over because uh they're now saw Barkley's
gonna be on the cover of Maddie And I think
that I believe the Madden Chris is real because everybody's
on the cover either their team has a bad season
or they get hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
That's I wish that evil on them, but that Madden
courage will be a real thing. One other thing I
want to add him before we end. I know you
had to see this. That boy Ji Reverse musta got
got some of that good Cali Bud.
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
You see what he was saying.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
No, I missed it what you said.
Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
Bro, he was he was challenging Aaron Donald in the
weight room. I think that he was just trying. I
think he's just trying to provoke a comeback because I
don't think he wants that smoke with a D in
the weight room.
Speaker 1 (01:16:46):
Man, you don't, you don't, I don't know, you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
It's like, I get it, you feeling yourself, bro. But
if y'all get in the weight room, we're gonna we're
gonna need this war alive. I need to see this boy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
That Kelly Cush is good though, so it's part of smoking.
Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
Got it be, bro, Yeah, must be. But that's all
for me unless you want to add anything else.
