Speaker 1 (00:04):
What's up everybody? Welcome back. It is MMA after Hours.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
I'm Michael Carlisle, joined us always by Micah Franko.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Micah, how you doing, man.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'm doing I'm like in a tailspin. This is like
crazy because there's just so much going on. I know
that you don't care for the MMA others, but there's
a shit ton of MMA others and to give people
the preview of later, yeah, there's like five events going
on this weekend. So I'm just like, Wow, there's a
roller coaster ride going on with so much action, so
(00:33):
many weird announcements, from BJJ to MMA to bare knuckle
to something called dirty boxing. There's just so much going on.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Man, There's a lot going on, and we will get
to as much of it as we can. We're coming
off UFC Fight Night in Atlanta, the resurgence of Kamara Lusman.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Maybe maybe not, we'll talk about that.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
We got another fight night this weekend as well, ahead
of UFC three seventeen and International Fight Week next week,
so lots to get to Micah start Fight night.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Fight all right. Of course, it was a fight night.
It was in hot Atlanta. Back to that crowd environment.
We're out of the Apex people. You get the feeling,
you get the vibes, you get the party atmosphere. We
got some great finishes and we got Kamaru Usman securing
four takedowns in the Force. Four rounds. There was damage
(01:29):
in the first, there was control for the next three
and a very solid didn't see coming decision victory for
the Nigerian nightmare for the former welterweight champion, quite possibly
the second greatest welterweight of all time. So people asked.
I heard Usman saying, did you guys forget I could wrestle. No,
(01:52):
we saw you not be able to wrestle against Edwards.
We saw you get out wrestled by tim Iev. To
see him come back to his roots, To see the
veteran use that technical veteranship, the experience to overcome and
outthink Joaquin Buckley, there was quite a bit of impressive factors.
(02:13):
I failed to say that this is a sure fire cameroon.
Usman is back, but I think that a lot of
us underestimated the metal and the competitor that he's made of.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
I'm not shocked that he won, per se, although I
didn't think he was going to win. I will be
completely honest, I'm with you there, but I am shocked
at the way he won. You mentioned the wrestling, but
not just that, just I mean he dominated that fight.
I did not expect him to dominate Joaquin Buckley. Now,
one judge did give Buckley four and five. The other
two judges just gave him five.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
But I felt like.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Round five Ousman was fighting a smart round and was
trying not to do anything that was going to put
him in a pecarious position. But I mean, all in all,
and I agree with you as well that I'm ready
to proclaim Kamaro Usman is back and all that, But
damn if he didn't look good on Saturday, well.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
That's where I wonder did he look good or did
he look good from necessary adjustments? Here was something great
that he did. He bowled over Joaquin Buckley. If you
look at the fight against Leon Edwards, Leon Edwards almost
use that cage as a third partner. It was holding
up his back. In this fight, you saw a lot
(03:28):
more distance from the cage and it almost seemed like
the cage was a springboard at times where Usman was
able to run through Buckley. Buckley also made the tactical
mistake of only trying to get up in one fashion.
When you saw Edwards get taken down very rarely by
Usman in those last two fights, he gave his back.
He stood up. Usman is not a rear naked choke threat.
(03:50):
He's not going to take your back. Why not give
your back and just jump up off your feet, stand
right up and do what you're doing. He kept fighting
the takedowns in a specific manner, and when he got
on bottom, he was willing to close his guard. He's
not a submission threat. I don't know what he's doing there.
So I think that there were some huge tactical errors
made by walking Buckley on top of the assertiveness of
(04:12):
the wrestling coming back together for Usman. So that's where
I don't want to negate the victory. But I don't
know how much credit versus discredit we give in either direction.
Does that make sense?
Speaker 1 (04:24):
It does, I would look at it.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I guess, for lack of a better term, more from
the last half full perspective for Usman, he went out
and did what he needed to do. You talked about
necessary adjustments and things like that.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
That's what you're supposed to do.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Now, does that equate to the higher up you go
in the rankings, trying to find that one more elusive
title shot. Is he going to be able to do
that against some of those opponents? I think, to be
very fair, the jury is still out on that. We're
gonna have to see, but I will tell you Osman
(05:01):
and I never thought I would have said this last week,
regardless of the outcome, but he might be one fight
away from the title shot.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
I would look at the fifth round over six on takedowns, Yeah,
getting stuff, getting beat up if that was earlier in
the fight. And Buckley, who created to him and his
team for making the necessary adjustments, because if you're looking
at that fight, there's no reason why there's not Rinson
repeat in the fifth round, There's no reason why cameer
Usman doesn't dominate another two and a half three minutes
(05:30):
on top of walking Buckley. Buckley made the adjustments. If
he was able to do that earlier. Who knows how
this turns out, because the one thing I didn't like
in the adjustments is I love the elbows in the
first I love the damage. Where was that the next
three rounds? It seemed like Usman. I don't know why,
but that aggression on top just decreased once he had
(05:53):
a lot of success in the first and I wonder
if that is the thirty eight year old, the cardio management,
the energy, and that's why I like there was an adjustment,
But was it enough to really give me more hope
forward than great tonight? This was a B plus. This
was a huge performance, but I'm a little worried about
(06:13):
the activity level with the success he had in the wrestling.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
All right, let's look at this from the the other perspective,
then the was this more about Buckley not having the
right game plan and the corner not adjusting until it
was too late.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Is this you know, I think we all.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Want to kind of see another oosfan run just to
see what could happen. You know that that's always fun
when you're your legends, you know, make that one last run.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Is this really more? Maybe not the best game plan
for Buckley.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
And they were a little slow to adjust and by
the time they did, there just wasn't enough time.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
And you got to think about all the time that
Buckley was underneath Usman, the lactic acid building up. He's
a heavily muscled welterweight, so as he's connecting in the
fifth round. There's obviously not a lot behind him because
of how much was depleted out of him. So I
think that you could say there's a lot to learn
from And also after the fight, if you read the
(07:18):
comments from Buckley, and there's nothing to discourage about those remarks,
but it gave me the thought, could he have idolized
Usman too much? Could he have been a bit too
respectful and then got overwhelmed and had to bring himself
back into the fight. It's hard to put it together
(07:38):
in this kind of sentiment because he has twenty eight
fights under his belt. Heck, Buckley has more fights than Usman.
But was this a necessary learning experience from a younger fighter,
because necessarily having more fights doesn't mean you've had the
bigger fights and the right experiences.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I think that's certainly possible, and.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
I when you put it in that perspective, it makes
more sense. I was a little surprised at Buckley Postfight're
just that he took.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Everything in stride.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Overall, he's happy because he's in a good place, being
able to provide for his family and all that, And
I was like, but this was a golden opportunity that
doesn't bug you a little bit, Well, if you're right
on that, and maybe because of idolizing Usmann a little bit,
and maybe I caught up in the moment, maybe he
realizes the folly of his ways and realizes that we're
(08:37):
not making that mistake again and everything's going to be
good going forward.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
So did you let one get away? Almost?
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Do you think real quick, do you think the wrestling
is now an achilles heel? Have we seen a progressive
progression stopping Achilles heel be exploded on the behalf of Buckley?
Is the wrestling that detrimental what we saw? Because the
(09:06):
fifteen minutes I was kind of worried about the dude, like,
how did you ever stop Covington's stakedowns? And God, how
this is a harsh against Colby Covington. I'm sorry, BROB,
you just got exposed hard.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
If they were exposed, I wonder if it's more of
they just didn't see Usman trying to take this approach,
so they didn't really spend a whole lot of time
in camp working to defend it, and then they were
called off guard.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Now you could make the.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Argument, well, if you're a good wrestler, you should have
been able to prevent that anyway, and I probably wouldn't
argue with you. But I do wonder if maybe they
just figured usman's going to come out, he's going to
try to end it early, because the later this fight
goes that the cardio is.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Going to become an issue.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
So they just didn't anticipate this happening, so they weren't
ready for it.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
The commentary, I'll give them credit for this one. They did,
and they suggested because none of us know. There's a possibility. Also,
Buckley might just be the best guy in his room,
and when he does what he does, he's able to
get up from under if he's never taken down, or
if he's ever taken down, And this might have just
been that start. My mechanisms, my sequences are not effective
(10:16):
enough here in this position, and there's just somebody better
than me. So I think there's a lot to learn
from I'm not fully out on walking Buckley, even though
I feel like this is a uphill climb now for him,
because there's some things that go against him. Now that
we've seen that he's willing to stay in these positions,
he's a little harder to get up I wonder about
how guys are going to pressure him also, because it
(10:38):
doesn't feel like I'm just speculating here. It doesn't feel
like there's a lot of intention and set up to
the way he strikes, where he's more of this explosive
I see it. I reac guy. He's almost like a
running back hitting the whole freestyling versus one that's running
the play and doing everything by the technique. But want
to get to what's next. I think that we can
(10:59):
map out the whole welterweight division after this because I
think we can both agree JDM Islam Mahashev is the
most likely next welterweight title fight. I would agree with that, yes, Okay,
So from there, I don't know if you agree with me.
John Annik said this like a couple weeks ago in
his podcast that he heard that Blell Shavcott is being
(11:20):
targeted for October. I can believe that to be true,
But if Shavcott's injured, that's belel Usman.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
I think we're getting belel Usman and winner gets next
after jdm's next title defense. I'm and let me be
really clear, I'm not necessarily saying that one win Overwoking Buckley,
Usman necessarily deserves it. But you look at the rankings,
(11:48):
you look at the body of work. I could totally
see that playing out that way.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Usman took a short notice fight up at eighty five
against Chimayav. He's getting that number one contenders fight. You're
you're calling in the favor. He did the favor, you're
calling in the favor. I think that at that point
we could book that Gary Brady needs to happen. We
make that fight because we got to keep them busy,
and we're gonna have two title fights before either one
(12:17):
of them he gets to the world title.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
But if less complicate things just a little bit, if
you want to talk about calling in favors Ian, Gary,
say get a short fight or two along the way
here when does now? I don't think he has the
same leg to stand on rankings wise, legacy wise, just yet.
(12:40):
But if I'm in and look, I agree with you,
that's the If you're doing Mohammed Usman, you may as
well do Brady. Ian Gary one hundred percent with you
on that. But if I'm I and Gary, I'm not
just settling for that. I'm gonna at least plead my
case and try to make the argument of why I
should be the one.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
In a number one contenders fight.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
There's a possibility. Okay, let let's play it out like this.
You did throw out that scenario, so let's say it.
There's a very good chance seeing Gary fights below Muhammed
in October, because let's just say that October date is
something that the UFC wants a Marquee welter Way fight on.
I don't think Usman's turning around in four months and fighting.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
And they see That's the other thing.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I would think January, February March would be more of
the time frame we see Usman again. And now maybe
I wind up being very wrong on that. So now look,
I think I agree with you. I think your scenario
makes the most sense.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
I truly do.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
We're on the same page, but oftentimes we see detours
along the way. I can't help but feel like there
might be a detour here.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Well.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
The reason why I think we're gonna get Bellelan is
Usman wants the title. He sees the legacy, the window
and that forty year old number creeping in on him.
I think that given the opportunity to replace Shavcott in October,
which we all got to probably assume has already been
floated to him. I think he's staying prepared. I think
he's staying ready because you're just saying to yourself, I
(14:12):
like your scenario, Letty and Gary go fight Belll. But
now you're not getting that title shot after Islam. You're
letting Blell or Gary get that title shot, ye, and
then you're waiting for the next one. So you've either
effectively hoped that all the other contenders wash out, Will
you sideline yourself or you still got this random fight
you got to take now with Shavcott or Sean Brady
(14:35):
possibly will You're waiting for all these title fights to
play out, and just me, Shavcott and Brady do a
lot less for Usman's legacy, because if you're Usman, you
just went and defended your legacy against the young up
and comer. If anything, you want Belel Muhammad because at
least that's a former champion to add to the rack.
(14:55):
That's why. And you're hurrying up and accelerating the timeline
for the title shot most importantly. Yeah, now as I
move on, what do we do with Buckley? What do
you think for Buckley, Because I got an idea.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
I want to hear your idea.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I want to rematch with Kevin Holland, because Kevin Holland
and him fight at one eighty five. Now they're both
committed to one seventy. I kind of like the two
big maps. Neither one can wrestle. Don't worry no wrestling
in this one. You have to deal with the wrestler
after this winner. But but you get a fun striking
bout at this moment.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
I don't. I don't think.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
That does a whole lot for Buckley in the short term.
But I don't think there's anything available. Like, if Buckley
wants to fight up, I don't see it happening.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
That's so with an fight, yeah no.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
So if that's the case, go with the fun fight,
get a win, get your confidence back, show everybody what
you can still do, you know, theoretically, so assuming everything
goes your way, and then you reassess, you see what's
happened in the division, you know, between your two fights,
and you go from there. Yeah, I don't hate it,
(16:04):
and quite honestly, that might be the best option that
Buckley is going to have for his next fight.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
And you know the other one is feasible that I
don't like is what's that probably a fight night comin
event against Gilbert Burns because we talents is grappling. We
give him a winnerable fight and it's somebody still in
the rankings, and you have an opportunity to show that
what we are considering weaknesses was just one bad night.
(16:30):
I don't like that fight for Gilbert. I don't want
to see that. But if we're talking about names in
the mix, I could see that when being an option,
he likes to fight old guys.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
I actually thought.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
You were going to say Burns when you said Holland.
If I'm being honest, I hate that fight for Burns.
I don't even like that fight for Buckley, to be honest,
because no disrespect to Gilbert Burns. But let's say you
go out and dominate and maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't.
What does that really do for Bucks? It's just based
(17:01):
on recent history for Gilbert. If i'm UFC, I'm holding
Gilbert Burns and I'm sorry Gilbert, but this is just
kind of where you're at now. I want you to
fight up and comers who can build off beating the
name I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Purpose it serves Buckley.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Where he to go out and beat Gilbert Burns at
this point, you know, I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I hear what you're saying, but I also don't want
to let him fight up for losing. Here's two other
options if you're the UFC. Now this is totally UFC matchmaking.
Leon Edwards is sitting there. Are we matching him against
walking Buckley because they're both coming off of losses? Or
are we saying Leon, I don't know if you're falling apart,
there's a little bit of juice then to still squeeze
out of that pulp. Michael Morales, are you the real deal?
(17:46):
I want Morales Edwards if I'm the UFC, because we
can build Morales into a fucking superstar with that one.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
This is just me.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
I don't think UFC wants Leon Edwards anywhere close to
being able to make an argument that he deserves to
time idle shot and beating Buckley. He could at least
make there. He's slink kidding it, but he can make
the argument.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
I like Morales and Edwards Moore because Morales with the
wind that puts him into the mix right exactly, Yeah, exactly,
And I like Leon Edwards.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
I'm not shit talking him. I just matchmaking wise. I
think it's very intriguing to push the veteran against the fire.
And one last thing to close this out. If I'm
the UFCS, we're ranking or we're matchmaking that whole top fifteen, basically,
let's rebook practice versus Neil. It didn't happen, Neil couldn't fight. Uh,
it was on the books. I still think it's a
fun matchup. I don't hate it, right, yeah, yeah, I'm
just trying to book out the whole division while I
(18:43):
was here. Sorry for that.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
One could stop me as well. Your comain event.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Rose dama Unis gets the unanimous decision over Miranda Maverick.
Now we find out after the fight from Maverick that
she suffered a towarn acl at some point during the fight.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Did that play a role at all in this outcome?
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Do you think you know what I think she I'm
just I'm speculating here, you know what, I think she
tore that knee when Rose clobbered her on the temple
with a left hook, and her legs spread out all
crazy and she face planted. There was a point where
I was about to text you, and I held back
because I was about to be apoplectic. I know the
commentary's job is to keep us intrigued, but these people
(19:28):
were trying to insinuate that going to the scorecards it
could be close. And as Maverick's limping around, all I
could do was tweet out, well, it's easy to see
who had the more effective damage. And it's like, oh, well,
she tore her acl You didn't do that. Yeah she did.
She knocked her equilibrium off so bad that her body
and trying to stay up revolted in a catastrophic injury
(19:51):
that's gonna take her out for more than a year
and a half. That was obvious to me. I thought
it was a very good performance from I was impressed
with her ability to get takedowns against a bigger, stronger fighter.
There was the interpressiveness of when she didn't get put
on her back, that she wasn't able to get up.
I don't think that she is athletically fluent with her
(20:13):
movement or is explosive at one twenty five. It seems
to just be a little bit more labored movement. If
it's ten pounds of that. Maybe it's the musculariness of
the movement. She just doesn't look as flowy. Rose Nommmunis
has been able to pull off what a lot of
fighters can't, goes from a world champion to moving weight classes.
So she is more than formidable in this weight class.
(20:35):
I think it's pretty apparent.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Now.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
I don't know if she can beat the top five,
but I don't think if you're out of the top
five that you can touch her. In this division, Rose is.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Going to be a problem for most people in that division. Now,
I agree with you. Is she beating Silva? Is she beating.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Yeah, Blanchefield was a tough matchup. Yeah, those top four
really because you say Grosso Barber, I think they're winnable fights.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
So it's just that very very top of the division
that I don't know if she can get by.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I will say this for Rose, when she's focused and
the outside distractions aren't a distraction, she's pretty much as
good as anybody in the division.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Did you see the stat after she knocked down Maverick?
She now has like the third most knockdown in women's
UFC history. Just surprising because a lot of people have
that boring stigma about her. Yeah, you don't think no, no, no,
She's just a really composed sniper. Dude. When she sees
her moment, she will kill. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
I think part of it is her facial expressions. She
always has a look of disinterest or maybe that's not right,
but I think that lures people into a false sense
if she's not an exciting fighter. But I think she
uses it to her advantage and when her opponent gets
lulled into that all of a sudden.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Burid Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
And as she the more she fights, the more I
appreciate Rose.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
And that hasn't always been the case.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
I've always liked her when she's been on her game,
but at different times in her career there were things
that maybe kept her from being as focused as she
could and should be. But focused again, I'm not saying
she deserves a title shot. I don't think she's getting
one anytime soon. It certainly seems like there are more
people ahead of her in the pecking order, and I
(22:36):
get all that, but I will tell you she's going
to be a tough, tough w for most anybody in
that division.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
She is a tough out. Let's not forget to credit
Miranda Maverick real quick, because she did get dropped in
that second round, was getting dominated and with thirty seconds
left had Rose squirming out of a head at arm choke,
had her in some serious trouble. There's a lot of grit,
there's just not this technical refinement on the feet Rose.
There is that technical refinement. There is this beauty in
(23:06):
what she does. Like I said, I don't know if
we see a title shot, but if she's smart, if
her management's smart, we're pressing for that Alexa Grosso fight.
Grosso is not a physically imposing one twenty five or
she'll play on the feet and you're the more dynamic
kicker will she is a boxer. I like the matchup,
and then that's cements you in that top top of
the division where I don't know if you're gonna swinker
(23:29):
swim right.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
No, I like that fight because that does get her there.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
And let's be honest, we're probably getting Wayley Chefshenko next.
Silva is gonna be wanting winner, and again, let's be honest,
depending on how Whaley Shifshenko one goes.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
We might get it again.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
So certainly for the foreseeable future. There's pro barring injury
or something really weird happening. Rose is probably gonna have
to have at least couple of fights. I like that
Grosso fight. Should she win it, that solidly gets her
(24:09):
in the conversation at least, and then maybe you need
one more. Maybe you don't, depending on how things play out.
But yeah, I think that one would make.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Sense for Rose for sure.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Looking at the one twenty five division, it is quite interesting.
The UFC did finally make the adjustment. We have not
acknowledged it, and it's a small thing. We shouldn't even
acknowledge it because it's so insignificant. There's not many double
fighters anymore. We don't got the hebus dern Are you
a twenty five or are you a fifteen? Or are
you ranked in both divisions? At least from what I'm
(24:41):
looking at, and you can call me out if I'm
missing a name. I think we got two separate divisions here.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Now.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
What also makes the one twenty five rankings interesting. We
don't know the medical status of Macy Barber. I believe
that Jessica androge is announced to fight Lupi Gadinez. I
didn't see the weight class. I want to be surprised
if that's bad at one fifteen, and then with Miranda
Maverick tearing her acl the top fifteen is really a
(25:07):
top twelve. Not trying to besmirch anybody, but it's just
these names are now lacking. So it's going to be
interesting to see more from the standpoint of what does
the UFC do with Jazz Divisius Blanchefield four Oh. I'm
figuring that one of the either Blanchefield or four Ote
is fighting Jazz Divicius, and then who is the other
one fighting that's way below them because they've both already
fought rows. So it's a little bit interesting with the
(25:30):
expected super fight the backlog that's created at one twenty five,
but it's not a bad thing in a division that
we need to create intriguing in.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
No, I agree, and for we've done it a little
at times, but there's some people out there that really
are just down on the women's side of MMA. Outside
of a couple of fights. In a couple of fighters,
a rosenama unis putting on the type of performance performances
we've seen from her the last couple of fights, I
(26:00):
think suddenly makes the women's divisions in the UFC.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
A little more interesting, and yeah, look again, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
I think there's a little bit of a logjam at
the top and it may not be cleared out after
a title fight or two. So I'm not sure what
the future holds for her, but I think she is
in a really good spot as far as being able
to solidify herself if she keeps this run going, that
(26:31):
when the time comes, she's there and she's gonna be
ready and the fans are gonna be somewhat excited for it.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Edman Shabazian shuts down some takedowns, land some big right hands,
and and Andre Petrowski showed a need to really develop
some more tricks to be able to get on the inside,
to get to where he wants to be able to
operate on the other side of that. Shabazi and starting
to put together the building blocks training in Vegas with
the new team. I don't know if you have feelings
(27:00):
of him of being a bigger prospect, because I remember
UOC two thirty six, first time I got to see
him live, big knockout victory, it felt like there was
a lot of promise in the air, and I think
he's starting to recapture it. Sure, not like I'm riding
home about Yeah, there's a lot of positive about a
(27:21):
guy that it felt like bust and he's really done
a lot to reculminate a lot of respect. On the
other side, I don't know if that was sugar Sean.
I don't know if that was an impersonator. I don't
know how many different memes you could make for Cody
Garbrandt and all the different people he looked like in
(27:44):
that cage from the corn Rows and tattooed face aesthetic.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
He looked like.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Sean O'Malley with Brocklesner's chest over his right eye. The
sword tattoo, I'm pretty sure that's the exact sword that
I don't feel like having brock Lester chest in my
Google searches, but I'm pretty sure that that's the same sword.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, here's what's most important.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Though, Garbrett looked like shit, and I don't mean visually,
I mean inside the eye.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Guy, he did not look good.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
That first five minutes will make you a believer. That
first five minutes. Did you see the little robot move?
Did you see him do a little strut? Did you
see him chin checking Hianni Barcelos, there's either I don't
know if it's mental, if it's physical. Well, we obviously
know there's a physical decrease because the ability to take
(28:44):
damage is not what it once was. Cody Garbrett has
not ever had a legendary chin, and now that it's
been checked, it is a detriment to him to be
so worried about it. But in that second and third round,
I wonder if it's just that he started getting touched
by Barcelos is not gave in. Garbrandt's not exactly touching
the budding. He's landing some big shots. He did look
(29:04):
phenomenal in that first round, scored a knockdown, doing great,
but then Barcelos just doesn't stop coming, wears you down.
Gets the decision. It's the right call, and it's hard
to say that Cody Garbrandt is in the wrong position
because I think we saw the dude gets like one
hundred and fifty thousand just to show it'd be hard
to walk away from that kind of money. But there
(29:25):
are dimissioning returns on what we're seeing Garbrandt be able
to do. As an evolving martial artist. He has these
flashes of brilliance of the old Garbrandt, and then it
diminishes back to he can't take the punishment. He looks
scared to be able to get in there, and then
the instincts and the speed that were so prevalent and
(29:46):
making him great earlier on in the fight just devow.
We're into him eating big shots later and crumbling.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Maybe this is a better question for when we decided
to do a full episode dedicated to Cody Garbrandt. I'm curious, though,
your thoughts. Where did it start to go wrong? What
was it the dominant Cruz win that took so much.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Out of him?
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Or was it the first or the loss in the
first dilla Shall fight that because there's no doubt the
big win against Cruise. Things went downhill after that. But
what did dominic Cruz take that much out of him?
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Or was it the two back to back Dila Shall.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Fights If you look, and you'd have to go way
back in the day to find this. In twenty twelve
against Gerald Hodge, there was a knockout ten seconds into
the third round. As an amateur, Garbrank got flat lined.
He went out cold in that fight, and it was
kind of at that point, people knew he didn't have
(30:51):
a chin. You know what happened as a pro that
head movement, that defense took over and he did not
get caught for a really long time. You remember what
happened after that Domina Cruz fight, well, the.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Back to back Dila Shaw losses of Pedro Mouniez loss.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Before the first Dila Shaw fight, which was in November
of twenty seventeen, it was supposed to happen International Fight
Week twenty seventeen. Me back back, the back was gone,
and the back has never been the same, And I
don't think the back was the same in the Dila
Shaw fights, and I think the unnecessary damage accumulated there.
(31:32):
It has all just been a downfall of taking too
much damage and injuries building up at the same time
where he cannot be the athlete he was in twenty
sixteen that became the world champion.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
And for those who don't fully get it, those are
you lucky enough to have healthy backs? If you're dependent
upon head movement and bobbing and weaving and they're taking dries,
Oh my god. If you're back at cooperating, you ain't
moving like that anymore, and you become very susceptible to
eating a lot of punches. And if, like you said,
(32:05):
that's an achilles heel, and to be fair to Cody,
it is for a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
But yeah, if that's.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
An achilles heell for you, that's not setting you up
for success.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
I don't know what would be setting up Cody Garbrant
for success right now. It's an unfortunate, tragic story of
a former world champion that this is like watching Derek Rose, A,
Penny Hardaway, or Brandon Roy. At least Garbrant became a
world champion, you know what I mean. The injuries, it
looks like they're just gonna change who he was.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Do you look at garb Brandt?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
All right, he's thirty three, all right, But put it
like if he's thirty seven, with the recent record that
he's had, we're all like, Cody, my man, it's time.
We're not Tony ferguson territory. But you're kind of having
a similar conversation. Does the fact that he's only thirty three.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Does that make you gal?
Speaker 2 (33:00):
I know I don't mean you specifically, or mean specifically,
but just people in general. Does that make you a
tad delusional? To to what's going on, and you talk
yourself into well, he's thirty three, he should be.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Hitting his prime.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Maybe you're at the tippy topy of it and you're
gonna start the decline a little bit, but there's still
time to go out and win fights and and have
the career you want to have. Are we a little
disillusioned by the fact that he's thirty three and not
thirty seven thirty eight?
Speaker 3 (33:28):
I think that could have something to do with it.
I also think you pointed out before Dyla Shaw Munyo's
font Kaikara France, think Ato Barcelos. These are not slouchessing
like the chin is fully gone, because if it was
Trevin Jones, Brian Kelleher and half ay Ali Sun South,
now here's the here's a real question. Uh, this is
(33:50):
for something from Pro Wrestling After Hours. Ron Killing's our
truth is now back with the WWE. Right he was
let go because he had been there so long, he
was making so much money. They were like, oh, we'll
cut that off the books because what's the return we're
really getting for them? Could Cody Garbrant end up being
that kind of release one hundred and fifty K big
name but at this point, the guys he's able to
(34:13):
beat are Trevin Jones and Brian Kelleher, and for the information,
one of them fights for Cage Warriors and the other
un retired due to neck injuries. I mean, I don't
want to say it's over for Garbrant, but are you
as a business paying one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
for guys that's checking dudes that we want to see?
Can you get to the middle prelims?
Speaker 1 (34:32):
I think you are. Here's why.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
If you're wanting to do more fight nights outside of
the APEX, Garbrandt is a name, and now you're not
headlining or probably comine eventning a fight night, but that's
another name you can add to get more.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Value for the bucks.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
So now, if you asked me this after his next fight,
my answer might be different. But I think right now
out there is still value in Cody Garbrandt. Even if
you're UFC and you're looking at this like, all right,
it's as good as it's ever been and it's never
going to be close to that again, I still think
there's enough name recognition. He's still popular with the fans,
(35:18):
So yeah, yeah, I don't think he's in that situation.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Yet after his next fight, he could be. After the
fight after that, he might be.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
I'm assuming hitting the pads, I'm assuming and sparring and
controlled scenarios. He still looks like the old Cardi Garbran,
So I'm assuming that's what's giving everyone hope for what's possible.
I just don't think we're seeing him beat somebody with
a number with an ascending name that's a real killer
coming up. If you gave Malcolm well Maker that fight,
(35:47):
I don't think it turns out well for Cardi Garbran.
But before we get to Malcolm and what you did
on the night, Mansor Abdul Malak, there's a headbut there's
a technical decision. Why can Cody Brundage not get through
a fight without controversy?
Speaker 2 (36:08):
To be fair, this one wasn't his fall and look.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Mostly his fault.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Well true.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I'm just say if there's bad luck to be if
there's bad luck to be had in a fight, yeah,
it's probably happening to Brundage for sure. It was just
a freak thing. What bugged me way more about this
and maybe I should have focused a little more on
the question. You just asked, but you brought up the
announcers in the matter.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I get it, being.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
A little confused about all right, are we just judging.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
After the second round? Are we judging?
Speaker 2 (36:45):
You did?
Speaker 1 (36:45):
And I get it as well.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
There's people talking in your ear, which for those who
don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Can't be very confusing.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
And maybe the person talking in their ear from the
truck said the wrong round and they just went But
not a single one of the three of them knew
what fucking round it was when they were trying to
explain to us what was going to happen, and if
they did, neither.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
One of the other two corrected anybody. So that just
bug the shot. Why are they talking it's the third round?
All right?
Speaker 2 (37:16):
If you're not scoring the third round, that's fine. But
you're talking about this like it's the second round. We're
in the third round, guys.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Still being Mansor Abdul Malik gets the technical decision. When
the headbuts of ground and pound, which was initially world
as a TKO, is called an accidental foul. That means
at that point, enough of the third round, it happened,
the third round it started, we can score that round.
First two rounds win in his favorite looked like most
(37:43):
of the scorecards and boom males, it looked like.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
Or what happened?
Speaker 2 (37:49):
No, the one judge gave him the first round. The
other two judges gave the first round to Brundage. Certainly,
rounds two and three all three judges gave to to
to Malik.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
And there he gets the decision. We move on. And yeah,
I thought he looked really good.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
By the way.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Yeah, yeah, and I think he was well on his
way to victory even without the head butt.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
It's unfortunate it happens.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
So you know, uh, Alonso Menifield prospect stopper as he
needs to be in the light heavyweight division. Stuff to
work on for Oh marc uh Paul Craig viciously commits
a ridiculously consequential fight ending foul and it's not disqualified
for it. That is just the first thing that I
(38:38):
want to bring up. What in the fuck could be
more blatant than we're on the ground, my feet's down.
Oh look, I'm obviously not having a kickup that damn
high bam right in the face. You're kidding me? That
was I was accidental. The fuck was accidental about that shit?
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Look If we're being honest, this fight should have never
been rebooked.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
God, I hope they don't try to do it again.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
Um, blade him, foul, blade him, foul. I'm gonna die
on that. Hell, I don't care about the dude's reaction
afterwards and the fact that the ref is blocking the
camera for the split second where Bellato's head snaps off
the back of the canvas, actually knocking him out. Sorry,
it wasn't the kick, it was the fall from the kick.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
What do you make of people are saying he took
a dive.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
They they're not seeing the right angle and the full replay,
because I'll be honest, they're right. The kick did not
knock him out, but the bouncing his back of his
head off of the canvas is what did. Because he
really was looking at the referees falling back like what
the fuck.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Now?
Speaker 3 (39:44):
This is where again, this is not pro wrestling, because
if you're a pro wrestler in that moment, you're already
trained to tuck the neck and you know it. But
Balato is in the impact of the air flying backwards,
like what the fuck?
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Man?
Speaker 3 (39:56):
So those people are overreacting in a bit bloodthirsty.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Nothing against either one of these guys.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Let's just both move on and go fight somebody else.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Cool, and let's hop through the prelims quick, because I
know that's how you like it, because knockouts and big
moments were what the prelims were about for me. Because
Malcolm Wellmaker caught a body. Chris Motino for everything it's worth, bro,
Bro lower the expectations, go sign with the pfl ouch like.
He does not look like a UFC caliber fighter. The
(40:31):
head movement's not there, the defense is not there. You
cannot have the Cody Garbrandt record without the Cody Garbrant
success and keep around in the UFC. That was the
vicious one, that right hick from well Maker. That is
a widow maker. Yeah, Jose Ochoa, let's give him credit.
Performance of the night down two rounds on the cards,
(40:52):
getting out Wrestling comes out and says, fuck it man,
guess the big knockout win. Put it on everybody named
Cody stay out of Atlanta because.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
You're styeh fair point.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
It's an American nightmare for you guys. Also another Pro
Wrestling After Hour kind of reference because we want to
check out that show because.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
In case you haven't figured it out.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Micah would like for you to listen to our pro
wrestling podcast, Pro Wrestling After Hours right here.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
On the After Hours Podcast Network. You can get it
downloaded in the same place you download this one.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
I'm sorry, guys, I didn't plan this. There's just so
many accidental plugs. And let's give the Comeback the Rally
Cap Award to fell Roe because he was getting beat
up by Angelosa, came back in the second round, nearly
knocked Anglosa out until he got dropped, had to survive
that storm, then got back up and was able to
get the finish in the third round. This might have
(41:41):
been the Pink slip maker. This might be the end
of Angelosa in the UFC. He is a physical beast,
a specimen, but he doesn't produce the ability to take
the damage that you need to at this level.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
I'd love to tell you you're wrong, but I can't.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
I just can't can't do it.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
Man.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Well, what I can do real quick is get past
the PFL, because I know we don't want to waste
too much time. But they were in Nashville all of
a sudden, Nashville becoming an epicenter of combat sports. PFL
last week. Our friends at BKB are going to be
there this weekend in the UFC in two weeks, so
more in Music City going on than just fried chicken
and guitars.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Yes, oh, and not just fried chicken but Nashville Hot
fried Chicken.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
I got you that. Jean picks up a huge victory,
biggest one of his career, the upset over Jason Jackson.
A knockdown, a beautiful jab in the first round, and
that's what just gets this ball rolling as Jason Jackson
is handed the loss that Gene will now face Logan
Story in the welterweight finals. On the featherweight side, a
brilliant knockout, an incredible combination work in the pocket from
(42:52):
Haesus Pineda taking the rubber match from Gabriel Baro might
have been one of the best trilogies outside of the
UFC I've ever seen. Those two guys got after it,
regardless of what promotion they were on. Pinato will now
take on the Russian wrestler Movid kaya Bulov in the finals.
A couple of those MMA others I mentioned to you
this week. Twelve thousand fans gathered in Poland to watch
(43:14):
Phil the Freeze rack up his twelfth defense of the
KSW world titles, a fifteen fight win streak. It was
an Americana finish for Tom Aspinall's jiu jitsu coach. A
huge congratulations to Tom Aspinall to Phil the Freeze. Not
many guys the UFC and find success, find financial winfalls,
(43:38):
and he has done a great job. Whether you guys
watch that fight or not, Congratulations to him. Also in Prague,
twenty five thousand people gathered at a soccer stadium for
Octagon seventy two. Carlos Velmo wins the trilogy matchup with
thet til a vague still retaining that's the word, retaining
(43:59):
the Octagon light Heavyweight title. UFC vet Makmoud Maradov won
a decision to claim their interim middleweight title. Go to
kgeminds dot com and you can get results for LFA
two ten. Javier Rays with a submission win of Lance
Lawrence in the second round gets the victory.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
There.
Speaker 3 (44:15):
We also got results from Dirty Boxing two. Jayuna rosenstreak
with a second round t COO victory. A right hook
to ground and pound gets the victory Dirty Boxing two.
If you didn't watch that you can see that for
free on YouTube. I bring it up because I want
to know if the rule set is something that is
appealing to you to maybe check out the boxing. What
(44:38):
you're allowed to do, the spins, the jumping, attacks, elbows incorporated,
and the grind and pound isn't as hokey four ounce gloves.
How are you thinking about the dirty boxing?
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Honestly, they should call it something other than dirty boxing.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
Yeah, the name's a little weird.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
Well, it's not even that. I think for companies not
named US and now UFC probably still deals with it.
On a smaller scale.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
You've still got the oh it's the human cock fighting
and things like that. Now, I don't think UFC spends
a lot of time worrying about the few people who
still think that about them. But anything other your BKFC,
your BYB, I think that's something they still have to
deal It's barbaric, it's this, it's that. I get why
(45:27):
they call it dirty boxing, and honestly it makes sense.
But if you're trying to bring in casual people, or
or you're holding an event and people hear dirty boxing,
I think it brings to mind something that it's not.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
So you're already fighting an.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Uphill battle attracting people other than hardcore fans.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
I think dirty boxing. That name just adds to the
uphill battle.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
Now.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
I don't know how much it adds, but I know
damn good and well it doesn't help. I'd call it
something else that's just me.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
Is it.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
Going DXB?
Speaker 1 (46:05):
Does that help?
Speaker 3 (46:05):
How we have UFC? I don't know if that many
people offhand know that it's Ultimate Fighting Championship. I was
listening to CEO of there's Malkie cow with the manager
of John Jones and Mike Perry, the people that are
putting this all together, they like to call it DXB.
Does that help just DXB? Yes, DXB maybe having a future.
I'm hearing the first week in August for their third event.
(46:28):
Looks like Jina Rosenstroup should be back on that one,
fighting for their inaugural heavyweight title. I like the rules set.
I've seen much more troubling things like the nut kicking competition,
the run it. At least I do like the thought
process of what's going. Hey, there's even a light kicking competition.
(46:49):
I was watching the other day. I caught clips on
social media, but I like the thought process of the
rules set for DXB. Yeah, I mean again I DBX whatever.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Oh yeah, no, it's fine. I just I think the
name for some people brings about negative thoughts and if
I were if I were them, I would try to
do whatever I could to not put those types of
thoughts in people's heads.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
That's all.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
We also had some BKFC this this past weekend. They
were at mohegan Son taking over that bellatour residency. You
gotta have fights and mohegan Son Connecticuts, Connecticutians. What do
you think we call it?
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Cantonians Candatonians? I like that one.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Yeah, yeah, I don't know Canedatonians like some fights obviously.
And the best division in BKFC is the heavyweight division.
It was on center stage at this event Parker Porter. Yes,
I know you love him, and he seemed to have
been striving now handing former title challenger Dylan Klecker a
first round knockout. Last, Porter is knocked down from a
(47:55):
right hand as he's charging in early, is able to
collect himself, take Kleckler into the clinch, the uppercuts, get
the job done. Parker Porter now two and zero and
we might see him in the rankings this week. Also
shout out in the co main event, Josh Watson with
a beautiful single out in open space. Uppercut drops Yourgeenny
de Castro ends that one. Full results over at cageminds
(48:19):
dot com.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
Good stuff, good stuff before we get to fight announcements
and what's coming up this weekend? A couple of things
I wanted to ask you about, and I don't know
if you had any news type things you.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
Wanted to bring up.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
But we find out Armaserukian is the backup for Taporia
Olavera at three seventeen next weekend in Vegas International Fight Week.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Makes sense, right.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
You need a backup. He's not booked, You're probably not
giving him a big fight, so why not string him along,
give him some hope. I don't think that we're gonna
go from arminsar Yukim pulling out of three eleven, being
in the doghouse and being benched, to all of a
sudden getting the title fight, but hey, go make weight
and improve your team player?
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Dueh do you need a second backup fighter? Not saying
that Serukian won't be ready and make Wait?
Speaker 1 (49:15):
But what if they both Misswait?
Speaker 3 (49:18):
Do we have another lightweight fight? On the card.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
You know what we do.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
I could Yushanata wait Kano. One of them is getting elevated.
There's a chance that bl dar Us fights Arments are
Yuki in for a interim lightweight title? Yeah, that's what
I'm telling you.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, And see I just thought one
of them would get elevated should there be an issue.
But yeah, I like keeping that fight for sure.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
It havans Seruki and his backup.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
And yeah, God forbid both Taporia and Olavera were to miss. Wait,
I mean, I guess at that point you pivot, but
there you go.
Speaker 3 (49:53):
Did you see the Taporia photo recently with Raoul Rossas Jr.
Speaker 1 (49:58):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (49:59):
Is that troubling to you? That a off season band
and weight? Now I understand he's only twenty years old,
so the kid probably kills himself cutting weight. But an
off season ban and weight is bigger than our impending
lightweight title challenger.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
It bothers me more for Taporia than it does.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's I are you small, right, dude?
Speaker 2 (50:23):
I'm not concerned about him. He's twenty years old, right, exactly,
no problem. Now, he might at some point want to
start walking around a tad lighter, but yeah, him, I'm
not sweating if I'm toporia.
Speaker 1 (50:39):
Yeah, maybe it.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Was the height and the shoulder with that impressed me.
I'm like, Ohio is kind of small, and I didn't
think that when we met him in person, but I
was judging him as a as a featherweight at that
point because that was like three years ago. I think
our first international fight week, as we're about to head
to our third when we got face to base with Ilia.
So yeah, I'm just a little concerned about that foodo
(51:01):
more than anything because the size.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Matt Brown and I actually I don't know that this
is an interesting conversation. I like Matt Brown because he
throws stuff out there that makes you think, even if
you disagree with it.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
It makes you think I might have missed this. I'm intrigued.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Matt Brown says Francis and Ganu damaged his legacy tremendously
by leaving UFC, but he got the biggest prize. Didnt
Ganu damage the legacy by leaving UFC?
Speaker 3 (51:37):
Did? Do you know where Francis and Ghanu was Saturday night? Uh?
Backstage at the UFC event with camera Ousman. He was
allowed in the doors he was there celebrating with Usman
and the team. They wouldn't let him go out into
the arena. They wouldn't let him sit in corner. You know,
(52:00):
but Randy Ktour is not allowed to do in aery
UFC arena exactly. He ain't allowed. That is prisana non grata.
You know what Francis and Ghana did. I think he
pulled the power play that might have earned respect. And
I think that with what John Jones is doing, the
(52:20):
UFC is backed into a corner where Francis and Ghanu
might be the best thing to bring back to have
a big heavyweight fight. Because there's speculation, I don't know
if you've seen it this week, his PFL contract might
have already ran out. That the money and everything with
the boxing matches and the Saudis that might have taken
care of the whole PFL contract and Francis and Ghanu
(52:43):
might be an out and out free agent. That's some
speculation I heard in the last like forty eight hours.
I don't know if there's any truths of that or not.
So I think that Francis and Ghanu, it's a good
talking point that did he hurt his legacy? But I
think he made the money. It's gonna be a hiatus,
and I think he's gonna come back and repair that
legacy or.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Have the opportunity.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
I think he hurt his legacy if legacy is trying
to be the greatest heavyweight UFC history, and I think
that's what most people think of. If you're thinking of
men Ghanu and legacy, he did hurt that because he left.
And I I mean, I guess if you really wanted to,
you could make that argument.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
I think you're losing that argument.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
I don't think he's currently right now the greatest heavyweight
champion USC history.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
It's hard for me to get into that legacy argument
because like John Jones is the greatest of all time,
and we have multiple arrests, the drug test being stripped,
So it's hard to see how legacy affects MMA compare
it to like other sports. Especially does steep A Miocic
get the respect he deserves because we're arguing between him
(53:55):
and Kane for the greatest UFC heavyweight of all time?
So how does Francis legacy compare well?
Speaker 2 (54:02):
And I think it's all in what you think of
it in legacy as well, because I would tell you
big money fights, and regardless of how he finished in
those fights, he left UFC, he signs with PFL, they
let him box, he got paid, he was on a
huge stage.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
I think there is something to be said for that.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
Now with France, I would like to have what a
couple of those boxing matches.
Speaker 1 (54:27):
Yeah, but I mean I I don't.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
It's that's why I like this question because I think
your knee jerk reactions.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
Yeah, he hurt his legacy.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
He should have stayed, he should have cleaned out the
division greatest of all time, no question about the man
went out and got paid. I don't think he would
have ever hurt for money had he stayed. But he
damn sure ain't gonna hurt for money now unless he's
just really bad at spending money, giving it out to friends,
terrible investments, manager robs him or something, you know, business
(55:00):
manager at robs him or something. He went out and
made money, he got paid. I think in the fight
game there's something to be Look if you're a great
computer programmer at Microsoft and Apple offers you fifty percent
(55:23):
more than you're making at Microsoft to go work for them,
are people talking about how shitty you are? For leaving
Microsoft and go dout. No good for him. He's good
at what he does. This new company's going to pay
him what he's looking for, right, we don't question that move. Hell,
if you're a burger flipper at Wendy's and Burger King's
going to pay you four dollars an hour more, you
(55:44):
don't question why the Wendy's burger flipper left. You know,
you get it, so you know I I maybe we
shouldn't hate on Francis because he wanted to make money
and he went out and he did look right or wrong,
Francis and Kano did exactly what he wanted to do.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
Right. My way of answering this question would be a
little bit different because the way Matt posed it is
did leaving the UFC hurt Francis in Ghana's legacy? Right?
How about we pos this a different way? What is
Francis and Ghana's legacy? Well? Easily for me to say
one of the hardest power punchers the heavyweight division of
(56:24):
MMA ever saw, which may strike more of a legacy
into it than I could ever say, because you could
think of him melting over him and a couple other guys,
and how scary that was. And on top of that,
then I, if I go even bigger, my thought is
the most successful novice boxer to fight professional world champions ever, Like,
(56:48):
those are the two biggest things. He was this killer,
scary knockout artist in MMA, and then he made this
ridiculous truckload of money in boxing that he didn't deserve
because he's a absolute novice in that sport. I think
that those might be a bigger legacy combined having legacies
even one is kind of eyebrow raising in one sport
(57:09):
and auspicious to have those two legacies rather than just ah,
he stayed. He is arguably the greatest UFC heavyweight champion.
I think that doing it his own way is the legacy.
It left his own mark. So I think it hurt
his UFC legacy, maybe his MMA legacy, but I think
(57:30):
it added a whole different dimension into just an overall
in Ghanu legacy.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Say what you want about it about in Ghanu, about
his leaving UFC, his post UFC Francis and Ghanu did
exactly what he wanted to do, and if we're being
completely honest, we should all be that lucky.
Speaker 3 (57:50):
Also, you can't give me a good reason why he
should have stayed in the USA. All I'm hearing is
did it hurt his legacy? We wanted him to. It's
not like you're at all even favolably saying he would
have made more money in these three fights with the
UFC than doing what he did.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
And this has nothing to do with UFC pay scale,
but the money he made boxing, he would have never
made that in UFC. I mean, let's be honest, right,
I mean, even even if you put him in Monster
Energy commercials and Toyot Tires and whoever else.
Speaker 1 (58:25):
He ain't making that kind of money.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
So if it's all about going out and fighting and
making money.
Speaker 1 (58:32):
Francis and Gan who's a winner?
Speaker 2 (58:33):
Man, that's all about as far exactly now real quick,
because there have been rumblings and Gan who comes back?
Speaker 1 (58:44):
There?
Speaker 2 (58:44):
These are chance you still don't get that Jones fight
and God who comes back for tom aspinall Yeah, but
he's still that's.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
That but again not as well.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
But but again I don't it's it's a fun conversation.
Speaker 1 (58:57):
Look, will end it. We could go easily in other
thirty minutes.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
It's just because it's fun to have that, because I
can see both sides of the argument. I don't think
he heard his legacy ultimately, because your legacy is about fighting,
coming out as unscathed as you can with as much
money as you can. And I think if in Ghanu
never fights again, he's accomplished.
Speaker 3 (59:17):
That one thing, that that statement. And I don't know
if you'll disagree with this and listen. I don't want
to spend up into a whole new topic. But the
question more just to me, resembles the amount of respect
and how high on a pedestal Matt Brown holds the
UFC To think it affected well in Gan Whu's legacy
that much.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
Well, let's be really honest, and I don't think we're
breaking any new ground here. But in the world of MMA,
and if you wanted to say combat sports, I'd listen
to you there as well, it's UFC and everybody else.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
So even if you're bitter.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
As shit with the UFC, you have to acknowledge it's
UFC and then it's everybody else.
Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
I acknowledge it, but it's almost the acknowledgment, like to
Matt Brown, Yeah, the acknowledgement to the UFC is the
UFC isn't the ultimate goal. Money is the ultimate goal.
France has got the ultimate goal, but Matt Brown looks
at the UFC as an even bigger goal. That that's
how the statement is read to me, like he would
have passed up the money for the glory.
Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
As fun as this is, and I promise you we
will not get into this now. The better conversation to
have is how PFL is so fucking inept they weren't
able to capitalize on signing Francis and Gano first of all.
And I pointed this out at the signing, and well,
I promise we're gonna move on Micah, their biggest cardinal sin.
(01:00:44):
You gotta have two to tango without the devil. There
is no God without God, there is no devil. I
don't give a shit how good Francis and gan who is.
If you don't have a quality opponent to put him
in there with, you may as well sign me or
you for pennies on the dollar and us go get
our ass kicked by one of your lesser than heavyweights
because that will generate more interest. Again, we don't have
(01:01:06):
to get into it, but the more fun conversation would
be how short sighted PFL was on that and how
they didn't have a plan for this, or if they
did have a plan, it just never came to fruition.
I'm sure they got money from the Saudiast for renting
out in Ghanu and all that, but signing Francis and
gan who did not make PFL better and you'll never
(01:01:27):
convince me otherwise.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
You know why. That's not a fun conversation. We've done
it on here before. I'm sure the listeners could tell us. Well, true,
they did not capitalize that That part is did they
make money? That part's debatable. Did they capitalize? No, You're
totally right on that one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
They signed him with the intention of this is going
to put us on the map, This is going to
catapult us onto the same stage as UFC, and that
did not happen.
Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
I don't want to get into it, but it seems
like the fuck we're gonna get into it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
Yeah, okay, but the more we say we don't want
to get into it, the more we're gonna get into it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Can you agree with this one? They sign Francis and
Ganu thinking he was Tyson Fury Because for the most part,
if your top rank boxing, it doesn't matter who you
put in the ring with Tyson Fury. You're gonna sell,
You're gonna make money. That was the PFL expectation, and
like you said, they didn't have two to tango and
that was their fault. YEP heavyweight news for shit that
(01:02:24):
is happening or isn't happening anymore. So Justin Toff is out.
Jonatan Gadinias is now going to take on LFA vet
Alvin Harris at UFC three seventeen. Fingers crossed that with
Menel Camp Brandon royvall versus Joshua Van being official that
that one's got to be on the main card. I'm
not sure what the main card it is.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
The UFC website has that as as opening that the
main card Roy Vallen Van.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
Peyton Tallbit's back. He's taking on Felipe Lima. Big expectations
on Lima in a full camp. The dude has been
gritten nails on short notice. I saw that one announced.
Maybe it's on on the website. Nico Price is going
to be back taking on to Kobe Smith. Do you
see that one on the website?
Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
No, I was because I was overly at three seventeen.
They don't have a lot of shit listed on three seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
They've only got one four main card fights, two middle prelims,
and an early I'm trying to I'm so, I was
trying to figure out what they don't have listed on here?
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
Do they have any of the ones I just mentioned?
Price versus Smith Gleama?
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Yeah, see Price versus Smith is not listed on here.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Liam Lima versus Talbot, Adina's versus Hines the no see.
Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
That might be Yeah, So so there's three more fights
right there. Okay?
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
That the July twelfth card that we're mentioning. In Nashville,
we get an addition of Morgan Sherrier versus Nate Land,
where Peter Jon, Marcos Marcus McGee reportedly official for July
twenty sixth in Abu Dhabi. Kind of surprised to see
Peter Jon fighting down so far. UFC three nineteen August sixteenth.
(01:04:07):
Two months this year. You realize there's two months this
year we don't have a pay per view. Yeah, wow,
No pay per view in July, no pay per view
in September. August though Chicago. Your editions include Jared Cannoneer MVP.
I feel like that could be interesting. Jared Mershart, Michel
omi A Lanchuk, Jessica and Roge Lupi Gadinez and the
(01:04:28):
Slutan Rouzie Boyev versus Brian Battle. Anything from three to
nineteen or the dates sticking out for you, Carlisle.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
I think it's gonna be a fun card.
Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
August twenty third, UFC suppose isly gonna be in Shanghai. Yeah,
going back to China, Chi Ming versus Bruno Brazil and
Michelle Perreira. Marco Tulo announced for that card, so we'll
see what happens there. This weekend, we're gonna get to that.
(01:05:00):
Five fights in all. You got bare knuckle all over
the place Saturday night, Saturday mornings the UFC, and Friday
you got a doubleheader including the PFL in LFA. Where
do you want to start, Carlisle, Let's run them in order. Well,
getting started with what's going on Friday night real quick.
(01:05:21):
That's Wichita, Kansas PFL six, It's the Intrust Bank Arena
if you want to be there live. We got lightweight,
women's flyweights and Bannham weight semifinals. So those five hundred
thousand dollars ground prizes all going to be set up
for those weight classes. Kevin Lee jumping in on short notice,
(01:05:41):
is going to be in the main event. He takes
on Guazeen, Raji Bo Raji Danoff. Guzen is about to
own Kevin Lee. Do you think there's any hope for
the former UFC title challenger. I think former interim champion.
He's tried to reserve several times in his career, and
(01:06:01):
as we talked about with Garbred, the dude's still on
the right side of that athletic prime if we're just
looking at the age numbers.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
I like I like Kevin Lee Lott. He's a good
guy exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
This is a so did I answer your question without
answering it?
Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
Micah?
Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
Yeah, you're taking the Russian Fighter. We feel good about
the team Kapide guy.
Speaker 1 (01:06:24):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
Don't forget this card also has Liz Carmush a couple
great Like I said, intriguing fights. If you go on
over to the LFA also Friday night, they're gonna be
on UFC five Pass for LFA to eleven. It's Seneca
Algony Resort in Casino from Salamakia, New York. I've never
actually been there to Solomachia.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
In the main event Women's band and weight title. Yeah,
there are women's band and weights out there in the world.
We know the UFC needs them. The winner of this
fight might get there be a mesquite. The ten time
Brazilian jiu Jitsu world champion takes on former kickboxing champion
Serena din Woodie, so you gotta expect the winner here
gets that contender series call. At the very least co
(01:07:09):
main event, former champion Cody Davis takes on Pumi Nakudah.
Nakudah five regional titles already won in his nine to
zero record. For my money, literally the best flyway in
America outside of the UFC. Because let's give Muhammed Mukai
of his respect as he's still trying to garner and
(01:07:29):
apologize back to the UFC, to gardner that attention to
apologize back to them for his outlandish ways. You know
he wants to be back there quick for sure, for sure,
and that Saturday morning takes us And no, this is
not an insult, but it takes us to Baku exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
UFC Fight Night Live on ABC, your main card, three
pm Eastern Time. Jamal Hill Khalil Rountree Junior is your main.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Event light Heavyweights. This one's been real booked. Hill has
been a former champion. Roundtree had a revelation of a performance,
even though it came in a loss against Alex Ferreira.
All the feels, the vibes, and I even think the
slight betting gods they're in the favor of round Tree.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
They are.
Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
You cannot underestimate the heart, the courage of Jamal Hill,
because the guy has been through injuries, bounces back, but
sometimes possibly too much. His footwork didn't look right, his
boxing was not on point. Do you think he rushed
back too soon against Europe of Hosca or is there
lingering effects from the Achilles injury?
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
I think he Well, I think he rushed back too soon.
Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
Yeah, there's probably there could still be some lingering effects.
Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
Well, we'll I think we'll know a lot more after Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
That's where this is from a betting standpoint. A stay
away from me, because my wisdom just leans with If
Hill can't move, the leg kicks from round Tree are
going to destroy him. And then when you think about striking,
there's three different distances. Right, you got your far out distance,
your mid range distance, and your enclose clinching right. Roundtree
wins two of those three against Hill. He's better on
(01:09:13):
the far outside because he can move better. He's better
on the inside because his clinch is better, his knees,
his elbows, his moy thie. It's can you be effective
before getting stuck in that boxing rings when you're in
that second range? Can you get to that first range?
Or does Hill make you pay with his boxing. He'll
still has the big power, he can put together combinations,
(01:09:35):
but the lack of athleticism, if it's compromised from the
Achilles injury, would be a huge problem because if nothing else,
Hill is probably one of the most deceptively athletic guys
in the UFC. You look at his body, his frame,
and you don't expect and be able to move like
you could. And that was a benefit to him, and
I'm worried that the lower leg injury will change his game.
Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
I think you said it best.
Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
From a betting standpoint, I would stay as far away
from this as I could, because I just wanted to say, yes,
Jamal Hill's winning, he's winning, and I was saying he's
going to dominate, but it's gonna be pretty convincing. Yeah,
I would not put my money where my mouth is
on that because Clil Rowntree might just.
Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Come out and fuck him up.
Speaker 3 (01:10:21):
And how much can we put stock into Khalil Rountree.
I don't think the fucking belief now something that mindset
I could do this shit. I was breaking the truerrera.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
How much can.
Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
We believe that? I don't know if you can really
believe in the good vibes. But after Carlo's content lost
to Robbie Lawler, it seemed like his next two fights
he came out and even though he didn't have that belt,
he had the aura of come fuck with me, because
if you're not you know that, dude, right, I'm gonna
get past you. And I'm wondering if we could see
(01:10:53):
that same kind of carry over from Khalil Rowntree, or
does Jamal Hill put him in his place and remind
everybody that he is a vicious knockout artist.
Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
It'll be I'd stay stay away from it with my money.
Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
Co main event Raphael Phayze. This card is built around him. Basically,
he's been at the football matches, he's been doing the
local promotion. This is his home Azerbaijan, Baku. He takes
on an ascending talent in Ignacio bah a Mondays and
real quick. Also, I heard in the name pronunciation from him,
(01:11:29):
you don't say the h it's ba ah Mondays, It's
a silent h Huh. Yeah, I just heard that one.
I thought it was Mondays. I'm like, no, ba on Mondays.
My apology is done for having huh sorry, Raphael physive
(01:11:49):
so long away, the knee injury, the courage to come back,
and we could say it his movement was not as dynamic,
it was compromised. He was not the same force against
Justin Gaechee that we had seen before. Does the time
to recouperrate just having the camp under his belt? Does
the incredible dynamic adrenaline push of your home country? Do
(01:12:12):
you think this makes a difference as you have an
ascending by a Monday's who from buy money. This kid's
a sniper and he just keeps getting better and better.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
The same questions you asked about Jamal Hill, I think
we can ask about physive not necessarily was well. I
guess yeah, that part too, wasn't too quick. But if
injuries have slowed him down that much, he's going to
be in trouble and I don't know how many more
fights he's going to have because I don't know how
competitive he can be if it's still getting used to
(01:12:48):
fighting post injury and being confident that maybe that fight
gave him the confidence that I can go out there.
I don't have to worry about reinjury. I can just
go out there and be me. Maybe we see a
different physive and if that's the case, this is gonna
be a really interesting fight.
Speaker 1 (01:13:07):
But if he doesn't have that speed, this might not
take long.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Brad Riddella is no longer in the UFC, Bobby Green's
on the back, nine Urda is no longer himself. That's
the last three rins for Ralphie Alpha Zev, who at
that point was ascending. That last win is three years ago.
It's three years ago justin Gaigee two times Matthews Gamra
(01:13:37):
where you suffer that horrendous leg injury and I'm trying
to get thirty two years old. I don't think he's
out of his athletic prime. And I might be just
putting too much emphasis because of the short notice weight cut,
that physive was not the same athlete, but he did
kind of crash down for that Geechee fight. It's near
even odds again. I don't like betting on any of
(01:13:58):
this because of that, because there's no money to be
made here, and I don't see it being beneficial in
a parlay. But I like ba A Monday's just slightly
more in this fight.
Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Well, I could sit here and talk myself into Physive because,
to be fair, even if the knees one hundred percent
and he's exactly where he was now pre injury, get
Chie was going to be the faster fighter in that fight,
the quicker, you know, so, Phyzive was probably going to
look slow anyway, even if there had never been a
(01:14:29):
kny injury.
Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
Right, So I'm maybe I'm putting a little too much
stock in that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
I don't know, I don't Phyzive is five foot, a
Baja Mondays is near six foot. I think that being
able to close down the space, shrink the octagon, and
take this from kicking range, which his kicking range is
going to be further, I like the ascending fighter, I
get trapped in this. A lot of questions to be answered. Again,
stay away from a betting prospect. I wouldn't be surprised
(01:14:58):
if Physive Campbell out. But do you think of finished
as possible here? I think these two go tooth and
nail for three rounds.
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
I think it goes to distance.
Speaker 3 (01:15:09):
I'm not sure if this is the feature fight, but
the heavyweights, after eight hundred rebookings, Curtis Blades and Ruvin
Clonief are expected to do this. And the longer we
go with this fight, I just got to say, if
Curtis Blades is healthy, he should win this fight. He's
a higher level of competition on paper, He's the better striker,
easily the better wrestler.
Speaker 1 (01:15:29):
Nopeeah. You just know it right there. And Blades is
a pretty heavy favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
He's minus sixty five, more experience, better competition.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
Yeah, just got to lean all those factors that feel
like they mean something. Go in the Blades kind of corner.
This was a stay busy fight and now it just
has to get done.
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
Yeah, and now we've hit the point where it's and
the rest.
Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Of the car okay, so to feak. Come on, Carlisle.
I know he's one of your favorites. Finished up his
run with Bellator. We're not talking about PFL, We're talking
about Scott Broker. I know you got a warm spot
to see a guy coming over like that, a guy
that has the Uh Beatles esque hair, so much hair
(01:16:16):
it's coming down.
Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
I don't to.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Feak Musafaijev probably the better athlete. Or Abayev is a
massive man, a big puncher, but he's kind of robotic.
If he's able to get on top of he wants.
If Musafaiev is able to keep this on the feed
and frou flowing, it should be his fight. Nazim shatty
CoV the same thing, more technical, keep it on the feet,
keep it going, huge favorite over Nicholas Malta. Don't get
(01:16:38):
into a brawl. Malta has power. Brawling is going to
be wrong. But if you keep this technical and on
the outside. I like shatty Kov. Naimov a pretty big
favorite against bogged On Grod Grod. I'm not sure what
to make of him yet. Neither one of these guys
might be willing to take a little bit of a
feeler on Grad if you're feeling front everybody, because Mohammed
(01:17:02):
Nayav has had big moments but has also struggled kind
of against some better fighters. Oban Elliott in the feature Prelim,
the guy hits like a Matt Truck, cuts great chow
Sunon like promos, has an absolute personality, and he's taking
on a guy named Ko, So if he's not trying
to knock him out, I'm just gonna be disappointed. We
(01:17:25):
have to see fireworks in this one. Ishmael Noyev is
gonna be taking on Jin Young Park the Iron Turtle.
Love me some Iron Turtle, heavy hands, solid grappling. He's
a solid two minus two twenty five favorite, at least
what I'm saying on the UFC website. Like that one.
(01:17:46):
We have women's action early on in the card. Two
of the first four fights, so Darya zin Lakhova, the
Russian who comes in with the number fifteen ranking, taking
on Melissa Mullins. Mullins actually is the favorite, even though
Daria comes in as the favorite. A lot of opportunity
(01:18:07):
there for these women's batom weights to continue to grow.
It's also women's batom weights, with Irene Alaskeeva a pretty
sizable favorite. She has really good arm bars taking on
Claudia Segulia, the Polish fighter who will be making her
promotional debut early on on the card. Tajiir ulam Bekoff
a pretty sizable favorite against Azap Maxim. This was originally
(01:18:30):
supposed to be the Koiji Haragucci fight, so it would
have been on the main card. So Tajia has to
come in and make Maxim Maxim. Just remember fearless. He
has taken on every challenge the UFC has thrown at him.
He believes in his skills. The oddsmakers do not, So
that's gonna be an interesting one. Is both guys can
wrestle their ass off, and Hamdi abdu Wad, the Egyptian
(01:18:51):
wrestler with just brawling kind of style on the feet,
is going to take on Mohammed Usman. Usman looks like
a million bucks, but he never asserts himself enough on
the feat. So that's why you can see a Hamdu
ab Duad who's just willing to brawl be the betting favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
Yep, so you got the pre limbs on ESPN two
and ESPN Plus at noon Eastern time, made card on ABC.
Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
At ESPN Plus at three pm Eastern.
Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
So we're talking about if you're there in California, for instance,
it's a nine a m. Pre limp start time. Yes,
getting your coffee with the UFC if you are in California,
if you're there in the West, there you go now
as for the rest of the weekend, real quick, after
you're done with that UFC event, we do have Bare
Knuckle to close out the weekend and the BKFC seventy
(01:19:40):
six card fort Worth, Texas Dickey's Arena. The card has
just been flipped upside down. Franco Tanagli, the BKFC lightweight champion,
his visa does not come through in time. He's not
able to get into the country from Spain, so Connor
Ben is instead gonna face Tony Sodo in a non
title feature lightweight main event. Geronio del Santos unfortunately also
(01:20:05):
unable to get out of Brazil visa issues. Andre Arlowski
is now gonna be taking on Josh Copeland two to
one in the BKFC promotion The Colorado Fighter and PFL Vett,
so check those out. You also get the debut former
UFC title challenger Jessica I Ruben war Returns, owner of
(01:20:26):
one of the fastest knockouts in BKFC history, and Tommy
Morrison's son, Kenzie Morrison, makes his BKFC debut on the card.
Cageminds dot Com Cameron Delano bull Rider for the PBR,
who is gonna be making his BKFC debut and Jeremy Salceda,
who got interviews up with both of them. Also Real
(01:20:48):
quick throwout in Nashville. That BKB forty one card lts
Nelson sam Larra is your main event middleweight championship on
the line in that one as Nelson the two division
champion defense. Javon Wright defends the welterweight title against Carlos
Guerra in the co main event, and Women's welterweight champion
(01:21:08):
Jamie Driver drops down to lightweight to face featherweight champion
head Their Perralta. One of these women walks away the
lightweight champion, a two division BKB champion. You also have
Marco Magic and Maurice Morris in a title eliminator in
the super cruiserweight division.
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
Real quick back to BKFC yep.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Andre Rolowski is forty six years old man.
Speaker 3 (01:21:36):
And Geronimo Dos Santos, who was gonna fight him, is
coming off of sleeping Alexi Alenik. He is just the
old Russian hit man.
Speaker 2 (01:21:45):
He's all right before we end the show, let let's
get a one more plug for pro wrestling after hours.
So he's the Randy Orton legend. Killer of BKFC is
what you're telling me.
Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
He was gonna be now they switched it up, so
the country and Josh Copeland gets the fight. But yeah,
a forty six year old Andre Arlovsky coming off of
a victory in DBX, Yes, in that other little boxing promotion.
So shout out to Andre forty six years old and
still getting that money. I was sure we'd just be
(01:22:18):
seeing him in a lot more guy Ritchie movies when
he left the UFC. But hey, he's still fighting instead.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
All right, fair enough, Mike, tell everybody how then keep
up with you man.
Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
