Speaker 1 (00:04):
What's up everybody?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Welcome back to MMA after hours. It's Michael Carlisle and
Micah Franko.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Micah, how you doing, man?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
I'm a bright ray of sunshine? How are you a
bright ray of sunshine? First time I've ever said that, right,
I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
It doesn't seem overly accurate, but I mean.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Sure, are you calling me gloomy? Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I'm saying you're not a bright ray of sunshine. Gloomy
might be a little harsh, well, maybe.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Not to you.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Maybe maybe mildly overcast mix of sun and clouds, a
slight chance of an afternoon storm, something like that, but
you know, sunny, perfect beach weather or something.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Nah.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
No, I've got sunshine in my heart. Man. I'm like,
I'm like, you don't have to beat down my face.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Well the one no, no, no, no, no no. I
wasn't all right, my apollog.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I wasn't trying to be smirch your good name, but
it seemed like you were going way out of your way.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
To kind of polish up your good name a little bit.
I don't, uh whatever, man.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It's just as how I was feeling today, and I
just told you today might change tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
How are you today? I'm a bright ray of sunshine, Micah.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Fucking awesome, good people. We got sunshine in our pockets.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Sure, sunshine in our pocket.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, you know what, let's just go with that so
we can get out of this sunshine in our pockets.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (01:35):
The Wild and MMA are heard this weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Was what's that?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
You remember the bitter? We obviously remember the Bier. There's
a guy that now has a tattoo on his arm
from being bit in his use.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
He was the bitten.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
He was the bitten. I heard that the bite here,
the bite He has actually dental school. No, no, his
most recent MMA walkouts, This dude's actually biting stuff all
the walkout and actually using this now in his persona
as he fights somewhere in Europe for Octagon. I actually
(02:08):
heard he's now turned this into a marketing thing for
his entrance that takes the cake for You can turn
around almost anything in MMA.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Because Kenny what's his name, Micah, it is Joe Cervino. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
How many people do you think know that the seventy
or eighty thousand people that were that arena or area
in Prague and possibly some people.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
I bet you about two thousand people there actually knew
his name and know it after the fact.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
My point is that marketing ploy probably ain't gonna work
out so well. I mean, look good on him.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I mean apparently he can't use his skills to market himself.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
So I mean go with what the Good Lord gave you,
I guess.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
And the ability to not be able to fight well
and decide to bite people in during your matches.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Sure, and that was only the second weirdest thing I
saw this weekend. The first was channel surfing on ESPN,
And is that Chet Congo and Hector Lumbar pillow fighting? Well?
Damn it is that? Really?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Is?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
That? Really? Really was? When the ojo takes over ESPN,
you never know what you're gonna see. Somehow, I didn't
take Hector Lumbar for the pillow fighting type, though he
didn't seem like the guy to have the sunny disposition
to play that way.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I bet the pillow fighting was better than Fight Night. No, No,
by far it was.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
It was not that the pillow fighting was was kind
of sad and awkward.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Did you watch Fight Night, Micah? There were some sad
and awkwardness there as well.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Yeah, but there was some freaking amazing there too, which
amazing strong.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
But there was good stuff. Well I would that.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
My guess would be maybe there wasn't a whole lot
of good stuff with the pillow fighting.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, that was that was more that. It was more
of the Okay, I watched one round of it there
there was nothing there to get me to stay here
for a second round. Yes, they did do rounds apparently.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Well, yeah, you gotta take a break and swing of
those pillows like that the manly muscles to fly thy feather,
and that's problem number one with pillow fighting.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Manly muscles. That's not what I want out of my
pillow fighting.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Check Congo versus Hector Lumbard is not what I wanted
out of my pillow fighting. I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Well, yes, I agree. Yeah, there's many things wrong with that,
but hey, I was gonna.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Say, at least they got something out of it. I
don't know if they do. What do you think one
makes for a pillow fight?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Couple hundred dollars? I did see one time they said
there was a tournament, and I want to say there
was a he four figures there. Okay, hang a winner,
because we're gonna break this down.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Were there people in the crowd at the pillow fight
or was this just like little hidden cameras in a
bedroom somewhere.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Oh no, No, there were people this was entering. This
looked like this was in a Florida convention center room
and there was a couple hundred people.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
That have wandered in.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
All right, couple hundred people, Like, to the best of
your knowledge, was it a pillow fight card or was
it something else? And as an added attraction you had
two air quotes legends duking it out with pillows with the.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Like insignia on the mat it said something.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
With So it was a full pillow fight card. I'm
sure you didn't watch the whole thing. Just rough guesstimate
for the hell of it. How many pillow fights do
you think we're on.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
That card now?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
That I really don't know? With what it seemed like
there were two free minute rounds. I'm guessing you had
to have like a to ten just to like make
it worth it to have.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Okay, let's use round numbers. There were ten pillow fights
on this card. That means twenty fighters. Bottom of the barrel,
you're getting a couple of hundred bucks.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I'm guessing. Okay, so two hundred.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Bucks times twenty, Yes, that's on that So you're paying
out about two thousand in perse?
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Did I do that math?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Right? I'm guessing. So I'm looking for the what you
need to know? Hey, I'm seeing Yahoo did get down
to go so deep into I don't.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Care about Yahoo.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
So rough five thousand dollars cash are Yeah, winners earn.
The winner of the annual championship usually pots five thousand
in cash prize.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
I'm just talking about. But but this sounds like it
was just like a regular card, right.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Two hundred and fifty dollars a a if you will,
a pillow fight, fight night, two hundred and fifty dollars
is what they're saying is the general pay for one
of these fights?
Speaker 1 (07:13):
What do you think ticket prices were for this?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Five to twenty five to fifteen fifteen? Got you ringside?
I'm guessing.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Okay, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Look, I'm no mathematician, but the finances ain't ain't driving here.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
There's something ain't adding up.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
But yeah, yeah, it's a two fifty show to win bonus.
The UFC model, you double if you win a five
hundred dollars pillow fight and Check Conco and Hector Lambard
had to go do one.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I hope you got paid in cash, and I hope
you got paid before you walked out there, because if
you were not getting paid until afterwards and the promoter
had to go to the box office and collect all them,
you probably got pillow fucked.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
That screams, are you hungry? Here's a hot dog? Did
he just take ten dollars out of my five hundred?
That screams that kind of event. But and I'm sure
that there was a worse food and worse compensation there
than there was at the Apex this past Saturday.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Oh, I bet they had much better food. Oh yeah,
I'm sure they had much better food.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
At the Apex.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I'm sure there's much food the Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
So when you casually brought up the pillow fight, did
you expect three and a half minutes later we'd still
be talking about it.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
No, not really. I thought you'd be more weirded out
the same way I was that Hector Lumbar and Check
Congo were in a pillow fight. It just kind of
and the violentness tendencies of Hector Lombard to explode as
we've seen. He's not a nice training partner I've heard.
I did not expect him to be the pillow fighting sort,
(08:52):
Like maybe you could tell me a check Congo, nicer
friendly fifty year old check Congo, he's willing a pillow fight?
Hector Lumbard just doesn't seem like that, dude to me.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
How many fifty year old men do you know that
like to throw down with pillows? Not many?
Speaker 3 (09:09):
But I could just see a kinder, gentler age chet
Congo who he was always more of a competitor. He
wasn't a trash talker, he wasn't an aggressor. He was
there to handle his business. That's why I could see
him doing something for show and money versus a hector
lumbar who looked like you wanted to take everyone's head
off every moment.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I got so many questions about what.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
The viability of this sport, like, oh, I have no
clue about that. I have no clue what the OTO
is doing all of a sudden taking over ESPN random nights.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I can't help but feel like if everyone on that
card got paid what they were supposed to be paid,
someone had to go into their pockets like this show
was operating at it probably a significant net loss.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yeah, because you're probably just thinking just easy math. If
there were ten fights, you're thinking you're spent like seventy
five hundred dollars on talent.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I can't help but feel like you didn't make seventy
five hundred dollars at the box office.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
And I can't feel like the OCHO really like pays
out that much. Because I don't even know if this
was live, if this was recorded, my.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Guess is it was old.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Now how old I don't know either. I don't know.
I'm not trying to find out the viability of how
often we hold pillow fighting events.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Well, you brought it up.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I was trying to also bring up Tatsuya tires as
I already brought up there was better food at the APEX.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
That was a but you brought that. But you can't
bring up something like this and then walk away.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Oh yes, you can, you very easily can. You just
don't have to appeal it. You know, people can walk
away from things without appealing them. That's another segue for
you if you wanted to take that bait.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Would you like to host a a PFC event?
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Micah, you can.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
No, I'm good you're not looking for a fun and
unique way to engage audiences of all ages, because all
you got to do is contact PFC about hosting an immersive,
fun filled pillow fighting event at your venue.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
I bet they'll let you host it. You probably pay
for it, and.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
No, I have no interest in that. I this is
a losing proposition.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
I know. That's why I was surprised Check Congo and
Hector Lombard belittle themselves to that point.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
It might have been, it might have been somewhat live.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I mean, they were kind of sort of promoting it
on their website because it's still up that.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
This will shock you. The PFC website not the most
up to date website.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
No, again, it's not hideously out of date. But no,
but I haven't got that far yet. That there might be,
but they are still high their big return to ESPN
on August first, so, which as we know, was about
a week ago, give or take.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
When you're listening right AnyWho, I saw it good just
a week ago. Maybe I'm just I don't I don't
know how they afford to keep this website up.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
No, let's set aside paying fighters securing venues, whatever you
got to put up for a deposit for a cut.
I assume a commission has to be involved.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Maybe it doesn't. I don't really know.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
But yeah, set aside all that stuff, how are they
paying the forty bucks or so a month to keep
this website active?
Speaker 3 (12:43):
I hope you're this inquisitive when we get to the
Fight Night prelims I have.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
I will not be this inquisitive when we get to
the Fight Night main card, never mind the prelims.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I actually I'm really interested on why you didn't like
the main card of the Fight Night, because there were
three fights on there that I thought were hella entertaining,
were considered good and on any card, like even if
they would have been you know, early prelimbs on a
(13:15):
pay per view, we still would have been saying, well, shit,
everybody that wasn't here at the beginning, you missed a
great fight. That's what I thought Valet Hosts versus Silvil was.
I didn't think that it was like standalone Fight of
the Year contender, but I thought this was a really
good fight between two prospects that entertain and it wasn't
boring like they were boring on the card.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Also, I wasn't done about talking about pillow fighting yet, Mikading.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Okay, so if we're done. Okay, we were done on
the pillow fight for now.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Cool because I think we spent more time on it
than ESPN did.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
We probably did. Yeah, the whole damn card probably wasn't
this long. No, the problem with Fight Night.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You had nothing on this card And I'm just gonna
speak for me here to get me to watch this
and see these hidden gym fights that you know that
the things that that that turned out way better than
expected when there were other things vying for my attention
on Saturday, and I look at this card, I'm like,
(14:20):
what General of the Golden Girl reruns on? Is Big
Bang Theory on somewhere?
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Is there a good infomercial for stool softeners somewhere?
Speaker 1 (14:32):
All Right?
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Maybe not that one, but there was nothing to entice
me to tune into this in the first place.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
If I did watch, then, Yes, much like even.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Cards where he was like, Eh, this card's kind of
it's okay, it's you watch there's stuff that that you
know it turns it's underpromise over delivered, shall we say,
And that may well have been the case here, but
this was so underpromised when they're other things that interest me. Yeah,
(15:02):
I did not give a lot of thought to Fight
Night on Saturday. That was my overall issue with Fight Night.
Nothing that actually happened during the card.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Okay, so time out from me. Okay, there's a lot
of times on Pro Wrestling After Hours or other wonderful podcasts.
Here on the After Hour podcast, I make statements that
I intend to be like direct things towards you, and
you bring up how the mainstream and how I needed
to direct that question more directly towards you. Right, just
(15:34):
just bring that up because my concept and that was
I kind of just expected you watch the Fight Night
because we have the podcast and to have content about
the UFC. When you tell me you don't watch BKFC
or PFL and that didn't entice you, and hey, Mike
could take three minutes and real quick recap it because
it doesn't entertain you. I fully understand that, just on
(15:57):
a Michael Carlisle specific I expect you to be slightly
in tune with the UFC because we have a podcast
that you generally like to focus around the UFC.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
I didn't once say I didn't go back and watch it.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Oh okay.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
For the record, I've never said I don't watch PFL
or BKFC.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
I've said many times, for the most part, they don't
interest me.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yeah, especially PFL. I've never really said I didn't watch it.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
I went back and watched fight night, but on Saturday
night while it was happening, I.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Could have given two shits about this fight night.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Oh okay, all right, that was Oh well, I had
a baby shower I was at too, and I didn't
give up the baby shower to watch the fight night.
I was just saying that when I went back to
watch these fights, I thought they were highly entertaining and
would be considered good fights on any card. That's why
I was surprisday.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
But that's not even the issue.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
The fact is that these fights were actually booked and
took place on a card in the first place.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Oh so, now there is a conversation about the UFC
putting on too many shows and possibly watering some finits
because other ones are not as strong because this one, no,
it's not commercially accepted enough, or what was.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
That problem with this fight. That's not the conversation at all.
I believe and this is just me.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
UFC knew damn good and well when they put this
event on that it was on paper going into it
somewhat lackluster, and I think that was done intentionally.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
A you're fulfilling your obligations to ESPN B.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Your partner was doing the first night of their two
night SummerSlam pay per view, and while that did end
roughly the time the main card started, there might have
been a slight overlap. You didn't want to do anything
to overshadow that either, so you didn't go out of
your way to do anything exciting with this fight going
(17:56):
into it. Now again, I'm not saying anything that actually happened.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
I totally agree with you. Did the UFC entice anybody
to watch it? No? Was this a stack card? Not
at all?
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Right?
Speaker 2 (18:05):
But my point like this, right, No, I don't think
this was the best UFC could have done last Saturday.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
I think they did. And look, I'm business is business.
I'm not even knocking them for it.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
It affected my interest in wanting to watch it, But yes,
I think they intentionally put together a serviceable card and
that was it.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Yeah, there are times on finites from the Apex where
they just throw stuff together. Yes, that does happen that
I will not argue that. My point was after arguing that,
once we got to watching it, I thought Kevin Vilje
hosts versus Danny Silva was a really good fight that
would be in contention for fight of the night if
you didn't have Esteban Rivivich Elvis Brenner just bombed away
(18:50):
on each other and shortening each other's careers with high
caliber offense. It was like watching two guys though with
different sized guns, where Vivivich was bombing away. Duncan versus
Rebeccy was an absolute war. That was my overall thought
process was that, yeah, the name value was not there,
but it was a diamond in the rough because once
(19:11):
you got to that main card, there were three fights
there that were absolutely two of them that are in
front of the Knights, and one of them normally would
have if it wasn't on this card. So I thought
it was high quality violence for entertainment purposes. Okay, you
(19:33):
were not entertained in your rewatch, not as entertained as
you were.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
No.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Oh, I thought that they're both really good. I think
the Jay host has a lot of promise. He looks like,
this is a guy five wins in a row. His
last loss was Jeane Silva and that was a decision.
And he's been bombing away on people. So to get
excited about a prospect to not just like somebody when
they're already on main cards. I feel like he's somebody
(19:59):
to start paying attention to. I think that Reeve Bitch
could be that way, But the guy takes way too
much damage in returning in just overwhelming offense that I
don't think he has a viability for a long career.
Chris Duncan just absolutely amazes because for as much as
a Bellatore fan as you were, this was a guy
(20:23):
that we both probably thought of. He's just flying under
the radar. We kept seeing him on oversea Bellatore prelimps,
maybe getting to the current and Jerker. Now he's five
and one in the UFC, so I thought there was
a lot to build from a couple potentials in some
deep divisions in the UFC.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
What are you doing with Chris Duncan Next.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Chris Duncan, you might be giving him number fifteen in
the world. He might have earned that opportunity by now.
Rebeccy was coming in top twenty, So he passes that
kind of name with flying colors. I don't know if
you do do something like a Michael Johnson, a gym
miller to try to give him one of those veteran
(21:03):
names that's name recognition that just a fan knows, or
maybe you dooo all the way to say, is there
a name right there at number fifteen that we're giving
for Duncan? Because out of these this mix, I think
he earned it from the quality of wind Rebeccy was
a guy that people really thought he had something brewing
when he first came in, and now he stumbled and
(21:25):
he got literally sliced up. So I thought that was
a good win. Uh, Tatsuya Tyra, he did what he
needed to do on the night. I really feel like,
do you agree? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (21:35):
I mean, look, he did enough to get the win.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Well, he comes out there, he absolutely chokes out Park.
I thought that it was a bright sign for him
that he scores a knockdown. The book on Park was
that Park was at least well rounded. He wasn't a
specialist from Tyra. We understand that he's a specialist. Last
time we saw Tyra Falter, it was because he got
pieced up on the feet and looked like he didn't
(21:59):
know what he was doing. To land a knockdown was incredible.
I think to build confidence, to show that he can
have diverse striking, and then to get to that wrestling
game to catch the rear naked choke where we know
he's utterly ridiculous, I thought that was all huge to
build on. So I was really pleasantly surprised with the
(22:20):
quality of violence, and then that with Tyra doing what
he needs to do because with losing a Meyer ale Bosi,
the car did take a last minute hit. The show
will go on, the UFC will find a way to
and that put all the onus on Tatsooa Tyra. It's
not like we have the greatest thought process in the
(22:41):
UFC of Japanese fighters. Anyway, this was a real opportunity
for him to falter and well, it doesn't move him
forward because he beats someone underneath him. It does what
he needed to do. And I don't know if Manel
Camp or a Mira al Bosi is busy yet, how
injured or what kept up from this fight, but I
think those look like real viable options for Tyres. He
(23:05):
tries to make his case for a title fight.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
I mean it moved him up a spot in the rankings.
I mean for what the rankings are worth.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
But yeah, do you like either one of those matchups
Camp or the Albosi. I'm just kind of throwing those
out there because he said Brandon Brandon Moreno, and I
feel like, I'm like, dude, that might be a little
bit too much too soon.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
I don't believe Brandon Moreno would have any interest in
that at the present time.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
ALBOSSI I think would make sense.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
I don't know what we're doing with Brandon Moreno because
we presume that it's Pantosia versus Van. If you're Moreno,
at a point, do you take a fight to just
take a fight to do something, or do you feel
like you can just wait for the moment, Because if
he's already booked, excuse me if I'm already missing it,
but Roy Vall's coming off of a loss, what do
(23:58):
you do if you're Brandon Moreno? That feels like an
interesting one to me. He's a bona fyte superstar, and
at some point, I also wonder if you just kind
of inclined if you're the UFC, because we've talked about
a fight night without name recognition brand Areno is a
big name recognition.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
He is, but he's probably more important to the flyweight
division that he is to a fight night card point
being win or lose, He's always going to be in
the conversation. So if you need him, you can plug
him in, you know.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
For for a title fight. But if you don't, you're
gonna fight him someone in the top three. Uh All,
would you know?
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Tara is inching his way up, So another fight or
two maybe that is a more worthwhile endeavor. But no, honestly,
to answer your Moreno question, you're you're keeping him around
in case you need him somebody drops out of a
title fight.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
Who's Pantosia fighting. He's not book currently.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Is it's not booked. But it looks like Joshua after
the face off that we saw. But it feels like
something happens to the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
I think, right right, something happens to the van. Hey, Moreno's
our guy.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Now, Look, you could also say Roy valves in that
position as well, and there's some truth to that, but yeah,
I think Moreno's.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Your insurance policy. You can plug it in.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
For that, And yes, if you need to spice up
and on the road fight night or something, or you
need to add something to a pay per view, Yes,
you could always break the glass and get Marino out
then as well.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Real quick, back to the lightweights, Duncan Rivevich, you think
they have earned the right to not fight in the
Apex the next time. I feel feel like we could
at least get that for both guys. There's a certain
excitement factor that they both brought. I'd like to see
them on the road. I don't care if it's the
first fight on a pay per view, Uh, I mean
(26:01):
first fight on early prelims.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Yeah, I mean, I guess there's nothing wrong with fighting
in the Apex. I get why anyone would rather fight
in front of twelve to eighteen thousand fans versus one
thy twelve hundred.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
I believe I get it. At the very least, maybe
a more quality Apex card.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Any chance that Renya Knackamora is the most dangerous striking Knackamora.
Now again, guys, that's a pro wrestling reference. If you
didn't get it.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Sorry, Yeah, I'm gonna go with know on that.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Oh man, come on, that was a devastating body kick,
just folded Nathan Fletcher shout out to him. A great
stoppage also from Andre Pudileva and Austin Bashie like a
week's notice, jumps on John Giannis's back and gets the
rear naked choke. So we've got three finishes on the
early prelims. Bashie's still a prospect to watch out for
(26:57):
a Knackamora. Those are the two that shine there. And
I thought that there was a great amount of violence. Also,
the shout out to Neil Magni, who has a subpar
first round and kind of didn't look great for him
at the beginning of the second round, and yeah, then
he does Neil Magni shit and somehow gets the dominant
position and pounds easy ds into the map.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
I thought Magnie was in a lot of trouble.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
I was like, oh, look, not that he was going
to take off the gloves after the fight, but I'm like,
we might be seeing the beginning of the end or
the middle of the end of Neil Magni. And then
as I'm formulating these thoughts in my brain, all of
a sudden, he's getting.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
The win when Dosantos is getting the advantage on the
ground and winning in the clitch. I was like, yeah,
I thought he'd win at distance, Capawaar at distance, the lighter,
more fluffery, flowy movement and then the more thunderous striker.
But yeah, no, Neil Magni just keeps on chugging. Okay,
this is a random one I heard, And there's been
(28:00):
this long conversation you and I have heard this legend
and legendary and someone told me you The conversation I
saw it went from you can't be a you can't
the two can't be separated, but can they? Because I
feel like, in essence, Neil magnis putting together a legendary
career where we talk about a comeback, a comeback, the
(28:23):
Hector Lumbar comeback. He might end up with thirty wins,
he might hit that Jim Miller level of you know,
top five wins in UFC history, but he'll never have
a UFC title. So is there a possibility to have
like to say that Neil Magni had a legendary career
because of peak moments without being like a true legend
(28:45):
in the sense of the word, where we put the
the golts and goats and the greats of the game. No, damn. See,
I felt like some of those moments that we've had though,
where I'm like, damn, that was kind of a legendary
performance because I literally when I think about the greatest
comebacks ever, that Hector Lumbar victory where we thought he
died in the first round and then came back to
(29:06):
smash out Lombard. It it lives in mind so vividly
that that that that feels legendary.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
If you want to put that fight in the UFC
Hall of Fame one day, I'm okay with it. I
think there are many many fights you could choose before
you got to that one. But if you want to
tell me that, I'm okay with it. But is he
a legendary fighters? He had a legendary career?
Speaker 3 (29:31):
No? Is it fair to say legendary moments?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I don't think that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
So what what are they? Just epic moments?
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Sure?
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Okay, all right, epic moments?
Speaker 1 (29:42):
All right?
Speaker 3 (29:43):
He had he's had a career with more epic moments
than most average fighters. Because I don't want to say it,
but for a UFC fighter, he's had longevity. But he's
not WonderBoy where Wonder Boy had this longevity and a
a lot of that was in the top ten. You know,
(30:03):
Neil Magni is an all time good that's had a
lot of epic moments, more than all time goods has
he There's like three or four moments that stick out
to me, So that's why I was thinking about it,
and this kind of on a smaller level, was just
(30:23):
like damn, this was another Neil Magni moment. And I
kind of feel like when we say you get Magnie,
that there's a reason that becomes a verb because it's like, damn,
he did it again in an unexpected spot. I don't know,
just respect to Neil Magni. Okay, PFL, I don't know
if you took the time to go back and watch this,
(30:45):
watch it back this past weekend. I don't know if
you have any thoughts, but that Gene puts it on
Logan Storly. Storly cannot get the takedowns. We saw Storly
rise all the way to bellatour welterweight champion, his wrestling
unable to do anything that Gene striking his scrambling, beautiful
(31:07):
game plan. Does that Jean look like somebody the PFL
could possibly build around and did you watch the performance
at all?
Speaker 1 (31:16):
No, I watched the performance. I do not believe PFL
wild try to build around him. Do I think they should?
I mean, he just won the damn tournament?
Speaker 5 (31:27):
So yeah, my thoughts on that I have more a
lot more to do with how PFL does business than
anything relating to him.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Yes, that's why him and guys like him. Yes, that's
who PFL needs to focus on.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
They should be building around him. And the basis for
my thought comes from Jason Jackson and then logan story.
You just beat the last two Bellotour champions. For as
much as we love bellatore, Scott Croker was great at
what he did. But it's also they had a great
roster of fighters and this young man at eleven and
zh just be two of the best that they had.
(32:05):
That's why I'm like, this is somebody they should build around. Also,
congratulations beating there, met Off putting another belt on the
wall at his gym with movie at Hayabulav getting the
submission in.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
The Did he put a belt on the ball in
his gym? Can he actually get into his gym?
Speaker 3 (32:23):
I'm not even sure because they haven't even left wherever
PFL is because he has another guy coming up this week.
But are there still tax problems? Where do you think?
Speaker 2 (32:32):
I don't know, Yeah, so as I don't know that
they might just be it might be in a box somewhere.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
They probably just stay at AKA with Javier Mendez. That
probably the states to stay safe from that. But I
don't know. If you saw the fight, a lot of
wrestling from Kaivid Mola. The moment that Pinedo didn't think
they were going to strike mobile, Mauvevid is able to
drop him with the right hand and Pinedo comes back
in the next round with his own knockdown. By the
(32:58):
fifth round, so much wrestling and the arm triangle is
put in. Great win for a MOVI lead who now
a two time PFL tournament champion. Like I said, that
Team Habib really tough. The card also taught prospect Jordan
Newman he's someone that you could also build around. He
got tested, got dropped, knocked down, came back and beat
(33:22):
up his opponent so bad that he quit on the
stool in between rounds. You know, no nonsense, Keith Peterson.
He was literally trying to pull this two hundred pounds
man off the stool. The round is starting. Never mind,
it's like fight, fight is there like a he like
literally trying to pull him off the stool because he
was wondering because of the ethnicities, was there a language
(33:46):
barrier here? Like the round is starting?
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Get up? Oh he's done, never mind.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
One of the more awkward things that you'll see in MMA.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Yeah, I get it though. Yeah, if you're not sure,
does he understand I'm telling you it's time to start
the next round.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
The eyebar meant the fighter that was winning the fight
took a couple punches, got dropped, goes to the corner,
and it's just like, I'm done. It really wasn't that
bad of a beating that Newman put on. Newman actually
took the run of the damage and still tough threw it.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Yeah, but some dudes, well not just that.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
And I'm not gonna make excuses for anybody, but sometimes
the worst damage is that the damage you see, like
we all geek out and get grossed out when somebody's
calliflower ear burst or your noses all of a sudden
on the side of your face, or you got a
big crevice in your forehead or something, and those are
(34:41):
all gnarly and we see those.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Sometimes it's the injuries you can't see that that can
be the worst.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
And maybe that was the case here, or maybe he's
a chicken shit and didn't want to fight anymore.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
I don't know. Micah.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
The PFL was outdoors Sturgis again this year Buffalo Chip
to see if humanity outdoors for the biker rally. Julian
let me bang laying one of the biggest turnarounds and
combat sports. The guy was two and eight in bare
knuckle and he is now nine and eight in the sport.
(35:18):
Ripped off like seven wins in a row. He hands
Go Go Slovski the first loss of his bare knuckle career.
A really discipline game plan from Lane where he was explosive,
he was in and out and at most of the
moments when Slovski looked like he was about to attack,
there was timely clinching to just meet the pressure and
(35:40):
nullify it. So big win for Lane, who apparently is
now the BKFC welterweight champion with and if you guys
saw the article, a cage mines, I've done my best
to investigate this situation and I got told from the
PR to the best of their knowledge, To the best
of their knowledge, Austin Trout vacated the title, which Austin denies.
(36:04):
He's like, when, where, how? What happened? Julian Lane is
BKFC welterweight Champion and a shout out to Taylor Starling
and Shelby Cannon for an absolute banger in the co
Maine event. Starling gets a very close unanimous decision victory
and a broken nose. Hats off to both women for
(36:25):
what was probably, if not the best, the second best
fight on the card.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Do you ever feel like some of the decision making
there they just pull stuff out of their ass.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Like out of the freaking Yeah. I was gonna say
out of the sky, but yeah, out of the ass
seems more appropriate. Like when I emailed over to the
PR department and said, hey, I saw on the updated rankings,
Austin Trout no longer has the title. What's going on
with that? I kind of expected to get a press
(36:59):
release that I missed. I kind of like expected an
official announcement like a date, a time some.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
It was I expect you and you got, to the
best of our knowledge, he vacated the title.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
We think possibly maybe yet how happy? Meanwhile, you.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Didn't have a lot of problems getting hold of Austin
asking him if he vacated the title? Right, No, they
ain't vacated. Shit, I don't know what's going on. You
think they would have had.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
That much of an issue getting.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
A hold of him, And we're talking about a three
week difference because at the Champion Summit, Austin's there with
the belt. They said, hey, Austin has the belt. Hey
at BKFC seventy nine, we're doing an interim title fight
because Austin's gonna go compete in this four man one
fifty five or in a minute.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Did they maybe just need another warm body for the
air quotes? Again, Champion Summit and after you got past.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
That, you're like, all right, we can give us the
belt back Austin.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Fuck all this.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Maybe I don't know, but why I announce him for
the one to fifty five tournament because his follow up
statement was all I did was declare my my desire
to compete for the fifty five belt. They offered me
the tournament. They never said I needed a vacate in
order to get in the tournament. And now apparently because
(38:18):
he is getting in the tournament. They decided he vacated.
That's how I'm to take this. I was quite surprised.
Last week. I watched the Bare Knuckle Show. I expected
an announcement. Dave Eldman was on the show. It was
fight week for the card. You figure you would have
mentioned why the title was going to be changing hands,
why it went from interim to vacant. They didn't. I
figured maybe somewhere throughout the card they'd make that announcement.
(38:42):
They did it. They didn't announce on the card that
at BKFC eighty Hollywood, Florida they're gonna run back for
Dormo versus Adams after the craziness that happened in Florida
in July. But when you look at the records, Predomer
still gets the knockout when so, I'm not sure why
he's just not moving on. So, yeah, they pull stuff
(39:03):
out of the air.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
All right, I guess.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
I mean they follow in suit from their minority owner Connor.
I thought, did you want to bring him up this week?
Already political aspiration. I was like going into Connor for you,
how well I.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Was making sure you were done.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
I think I'm traumatized. Enough by the actual.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Where would you like to start with Connor?
Speaker 2 (39:29):
He is appeal being denied on his it's fair to
say sexual assault conviction, sexual misconduct.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
God, I don't want to say more than it was, but.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
I mean we know that being denied, the rumors of
him being back in the testing pool, but every time
he goes to pee, fire shoots out of his apparently
incredibly long penis, or the fact that he's realized he's
not going to become resident of Ireland, so now he's
starting a petition to become president.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Of just out of curiosity. Which part are you laughing at, Mike?
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Yeah, I did not know fire was shooting out of
his peanuts And that was actually the part that I
was going to go back to ask you about because.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
And I don't know that and honestly, the timeline may
not even add up for test results to be back
yet from his first peeing back in the protocol, So
I I just speaking on what I've seen out there,
when that's what I'm just laughing about, that he'd get
all the way back in the testing pool and actually
possibly still be that was making me that's like the
(40:39):
tip of that's that that hits idiot.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
In another way because he hadn't done that one before.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Well, yeah, you would assume before he gets back into
the testing pool, he's going to be reasonably sure he
compete with that.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
That's what I was laughing about that way.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
And so yeah, again I don't know, so I'm just
saying what I read. Again, I'm not under sure the
timeline actually adds up that. All right, he just got
back in the testing pool, he's been testing. They've already
got the results.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
I mean maybe, but.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Yeah, I can't imagine. Maybe they rushed it. They wanted
to see Dana White gets a call and there's a
loud boom that we heard across the word Are you
fucking kidding me?
Speaker 1 (41:21):
But that'd be fair.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
That tainted p has a long way to travel to
get out, so maybe it takes a little longer for
him to be able to peet clean than say, more
average fighter, okay that time last or below average.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
See, I thought that's why you were laughing at the first. No. No,
the second time was the dick joke.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
The first time was you got to be kidding me
that he's gonnau test dirty already and we have to
fight that just checked mine no, I didn't even think
those were gonna come up in conversation. I thought more
we were going to get into his renewed political aspirations.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
On Monday, McGregor posted a link to a petition where
he urged social media followers quote all caps, sign my
petition now to save Ireland. To the esteem citizens of
Ireland and the Irish dysphoria Iconom McGregor hereby declare my
attition to seek the esteemed office of President of Ireland.
Speaker 3 (42:20):
I am not one to be up on Irish politics,
but I feel like this here ye hear yee in
town square might fall on deaf years.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
The existing regulations mandate that a candidate must secure nomination
from either twenty members of whatever the hell they call
their parliament or four county councils to be eligible for
the ballot. This system, while intended to ensure a degree
of political influence among candidates, inadvertly restricts the direct voice
of the Irish electorate. Point being, nobody's nominating his fucking
(42:52):
ask to be president.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
So let's start a petition.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Are you shocked that no self respecting Irish politician is
willing to nominate Connor McGregor for the presidency of Ireland.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
There's a woman, there's a DJ, there's an old man.
There's quite a few public alsbursts that lead me to
feel like I'm pretty comfortable with understanding why those politicians
are staying away from Connor McGregor. In a way our
friends at BKFC do not.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Fair enough.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Connor still says he's fighting at the White House. That
might come as news to some people.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
We'll see all that plays out. Yeah, you think we
see Connor July fourth, twenty twenty six.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
I don't think we see Connor McGregor fighting ever again.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
Oh, I think we see him fight again, whether it's
UFC or they're finally like, look to hell with all this.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Go do your damn BKFC fight. Go have a damn
boxing man. We don't care anymore.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Okay, he might be right. I don't think we see
him in the NFC MMA.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
He might be forty five, forty six, forty seven, forty
eight when it happens.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
But I think he fights again.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
Yeah, okay, I think I think you're onto something there.
I don't think we see him in the UFC. So
if we don't see him in the UFC, I don't
think we're seeing him in the White House. Are at
the White House event as a fighter? Maybe maybe he
shows up as a honorary guest.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
More likely to fight at the White House Connor or
John Jones?
Speaker 3 (44:42):
John Jones just because we saw him.
Speaker 1 (44:45):
Fight a year ago. I agree. I don't believe we
see either one. But yes, but that wasn't the question.
The question was of those two, which is more likely?
I think Johnny's way more likely.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
And do we bring up, as you said, there's the
the court case going on the sexual assault sexual offense
with Connor McGregor. There wasn't appeal. That appeal did not
work out for Connor. It did not, And now it
appears that there's also another investigation are around the case
or a possible.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
So was this wasn't a criminal case?
Speaker 3 (45:19):
The right?
Speaker 2 (45:20):
It had to be civil, right, because I mean, he's free,
he's out, he's walking around and he's trying to get
signatures to run for president.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
Yeah, there wasn't enough criminal evidence to directly say that
Connor did it, but there's enough evidence that she was
only with Connor and two other people to hold them
financially liable for knowing what happened to her. I believe
(45:49):
in all the bodily harm that she went through in
the time that she was with them, as to my understanding.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Okay, gotcha. Yeah, so yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Not much good news or not many things you want
to post about on Facebook and share if you're Connor
McGregor right now, most of his.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
Time, there's one thing I'd be sharing like a motherfucker
fellas Connor, I ain't gonna lie.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Well, that's the problem is he's been trying to share
that thing. That's how we found out about it.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Well, yeah, yeah, he was trying to share him in
the DMS allegedly.
Speaker 3 (46:22):
No, I think there was a lot more than in
the DMS is where he wanted to share it. Well, yes,
he answered the DM and the way he.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
Yea yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Look, we're better than this,
Mica talk about long Don McGregor.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Come on, I can't believe for how many times we've
brought him up already on this episode. Was there I
think we're done with the McGregor. I don't know if
the USC ever will be. Was there any other thing?
Oh yeah, Habi Nurma got met Off brought up. And
(46:54):
this was in front of a panel. I think this
was Russia Abu Dhabi somewhere. He was doing a talk show,
it looked like, and he says, Islam fighting JDM in November.
That's our main event for Madison Square Garden. Not official,
No one's denying it though, Yet what do you think
of that matchup for that date, for that venue.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
I wouldn't do it there, but I mean it's fine.
I would think you would strategize a little more with
where you were putting that. But yeah, I do have
a problem with the fight.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
If we're getting it, and that's where it is, I'm
glad we're getting it.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
Did our expectation of where things are taking place get
thrown a little bit? For a loop? Hearing gone aspinall?
Is the Abba Dabi headliner? I think we thought that
ye was the Madison Square Garden headliner because of the
heavyweight title feeling.
Speaker 2 (47:47):
Yeah, but you know what, that's probably on us because well, twofold,
when we go so long without these questions being answered,
the mind starts to wonder. We start to play fantasy
booker and things like that, and we poke all this
in our heads book, all this shit that if we
really stepped back and looked at it practically don't.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
Make sense or weren't gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
So I say our fault, Yeah, I mean they could
have figured all this shit out earlier, so so our
minds didn't start wondering. But yeah, I mean we we
probably put some expectations on it that weren't realistic.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
Well, my mind started wondering also, because if you told
me that rab Duwalish Philly would fight on the same
card as Islam and then fight two more times before
Islam fought, even though Islam's fight was shorter, faster, easier
than Mirabs, I would have never had that on the
(48:46):
playing cards my bingo card for this year's UFC schedule either,
So I think some of that was a little bit
of wishful thinking. It's I keep trying to book Islam
to return a lot sooner than he wants to. I mean, yeah,
(49:06):
oh okay, So just randomly, and I started thinking about
this because we're getting Islam versus j Adm. How bad
does Islam need this fight? Because there's a Poier fight,
I believe, and there's one Volkanovsky fight that are truly
great from his title run, and then we're looking at
you got kind of diminished Vulcan on short notice, and
(49:30):
then you got Moaya Kano on like a day's notice.
He had no chance against Islam, just levels preparation. I
feel like we need this fight for Islam to feel
for the resume, to validate the legacy that it feels
like he's built.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Here's why I'm gonna say, no, didn't you try to
convince me a few minutes ago that Neil Magni was
a legend?
Speaker 3 (49:55):
No, no, no, no, that he had legendary moments in
his career. Got never. That's where I was saying, is
they're a difference because I was not trying to call
Neil Magni a legend. I just said that three or
four moments that stuck out about his career that I'm like,
do we say he had legendary moments in his career
and that's how he came up with that epic moments
And that's where I just get to Islam, where he's
(50:16):
had this incredible career. But I just feel like when
we look back out of Max Holloway's resume, we're like,
holy shit, look at all the names he's fought. You
look at even the run that Volkanovsky has been on,
We're like, holy shit, look at all the names he's fought,
and am I missing it? Am I under rating the resume?
(50:40):
I just feel like I don't get that same holy
shitness from the names that Islam fought. When we say, sorry,
Yuki in fight, wasn't that great before we knew who
they won? Davey Ramos, Jude dober moy sas hell, Yeah,
(51:02):
the Hooker fight, Bobby Green.
Speaker 1 (51:06):
I don't have a problem with his resume.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
If you want to tell me you would have liked
to have seen him fight more frequently, I would listen
to that conversation all day long. But as far as
the tie who he's actually fault and beaten when he's.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
Fault, I got no problems with that resume.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
It's one of those things where I started thinking about
his resume and where I hold him as we think
about him as an all time great and compared to
other UFC champions. Maybe that the resume. I don't know
if you'd feel the same way about, because I don't
(51:50):
think we hold in regard and it may just be
where he is in his career now fighting out, but
like a Benson Henderson and we go back to his title,
and when he was winning and was dominant in the UFC,
some of those names where we had Cowboys Serny, Jim Miller,
Frank Dieger a couple of times, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thompson,
(52:14):
Nate Diaz. There just feels like there isn't that feeling
of Henderson at that time. There were names missing from
the There weren't names missing from the resume, right and
he's not held in that high regard where right now
Islam is this all time great. And I feel like
(52:35):
without gae Chee, with some of the fights that have
fallen through with dar Hush, there's just names that are
more desirable that could have been on his resume that
aren't that names that he missed out on.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
Okay, and that's fair.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Again, if he fought it a little more frequently, maybe
some of those get Philadel, But yeah, I hear you.
Speaker 3 (52:58):
I also started thinking about this because they're talking about
out maybe after the JDM when this could be the end.
This could be the capstone on the career two division
champion here it is or does he just fight maybe
one more time to defend it. I've heard that we
could be towards the end of Islam, and that's why
I've started toudge the resume.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Age thirty three and he fights about one and a
half times a year, so one way or the other,
the end is closer than the beginning.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
Yeah, we'll see real quick, Michael.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
We've talked about the heavyweight division and the lack of
star power and name recognition, depth.
Speaker 1 (53:40):
Depth.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
That's the one you're gonna get to right now.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Yeah, you surprised they didn't re sign Martin Boudet. Three
straight wins, It was twelfth in the rankings. It just
his last fight, what a couple of weeks ago coming
off a win. I'm not telling you he was going
to be a title contender, but thirty three fairly young
(54:03):
for heavyweight sweet spot for everyweight. Yeah, maybe not young,
but age is a little less important in heavyweight. I
think we could agree wins, you can. I think he's
had two losses in his career and one three straight
that they're in UFC.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
You surprised they didn't.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
Resign him from a meritocracy, Yes, seven to one in
the promotion, number twelve in the rankings. Very surprised that
Martin Dude Boundet is not still around. But I don't
think he offered a entertaining fight style and I think
that did him in.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Yeah, I don't disagree, but.
Speaker 3 (54:45):
He should still be there.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Just so there's another name you recognize when you look
at the rankings.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
And because he's had eight fights in the UFC and
you've started to build up that familiarity and he was winning.
Maybe they got scared. What if he keeps winning with
this ugly style. I don't know. Maybe we do have
some fight announcements. Ben Was Saint Denis Mauricio Rufi has
been added to the UFC Paris card. How do you
(55:11):
feel about that lightweight matchup?
Speaker 1 (55:13):
I like it. I like that one.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
I feel like it's a good test for Rufie of
a guy that's gonna bring power and just ferocity at him.
And for Ben wasa Saint Denis, you know that the
guy is gonna try to stay away from you. So
I think there's a make or break echelon to that matchup.
The other big one this past week, Carlos Alberg versus
Dominic Reyes will happen at UFC Perth. What do you
(55:38):
think about that one? Someone gets knocked out probably I
think we got fireworks possibility there Alburg. He seems to
be on the outside. He's gonna have to go through everybody.
I feel like I thought he'd get a little bit bigger,
higher profile fight than Dominic. Ray has to try to
get an opportunity. There's a ton of other things that
(56:00):
have been announced by the UFC. They'll be back UFC
three nineteen next week. JJ Alritz is at Kreamy Silva
is gonna take on Dianna Bobosa. UFC is gonna be
back in Shanghai August twenty third. So guys, there's a
bunch of additions for that one. I can't say most
of their names, though, so I'm not gonna try to
butcher everything. My apologies. UFC notch David Martinez versus Carlos Vera,
(56:25):
Alessio Costa versus Alan Kora. We've talked about perth already.
Maga mad Abus Maga Medov is gonna take on Joe
Pifer UFC three twenty October fourth. That card also gets
Farid Bashera versus Chris Guterres, and eleven time BJJ world
champion Ba Mesquite will be making her octagon debut October
(56:49):
eleventh Inrio against Irene Aliseva. That one's the former LFA
champion b A Mesquite. That's a huge addition to the
women's one thirty division. Someone that also probably like Kaylain
and the rest of the women, not here for a
long time, but I think she can make an immediate impact.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
YEP.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
This week we do have a couple things going on.
There is the BKFC Fight Night on Saturday night. They're
in Edmonton. You have Drew Stuver versus Bulfredo Santiago in
the main event. Chad Lucas is a lightweight to look
out for on the prelimps, and so is Unbeaten three
(57:30):
and Oho Hassan Augarim. That's for your BKFC. We also
get PFL World Championship action on Friday night lightweight, bantam
weight and women's flyweight finals. Ghazid Raji Danov of the
Nurmaga Metov Camp takes on Alfi Davis at lightweight. Davis
(57:51):
has had some cool knockouts. That one's gonna be a banger.
Jiu jitsu expert Jenna Bishop versus Liz Carmouche in the
Komain event. That's your one twenty five finals. And then
big punching Warley Alvez, who was a last minute replacement,
takes on wrestler Justin Ensel for your one thirty five finals.
(58:13):
That leads us up to the UFC once again in
the Apex. And my biggest question with the names that
I recognize, is this a more exciting fight night for
you and lead up? Well?
Speaker 1 (58:26):
Yeah, because it's a better card.
Speaker 2 (58:28):
You could have taken last week's card in this week's card,
put all the fights in a hat and pulled them
out and made two really solid cards, especially solid Apex
fight night cards. Again, I don't think last week's card
was like luster on paper by coincidence. I think it
was done intentionally to not draw attention away from SummerSlam.
(58:51):
So I mean, that's fine, I guess, but yeah, no, Look,
your top three fights are all ranked fighters, all taught well,
Angela Hill's rate twelve. I was gonna say all top
ten fighters, but yeah, it's on paper, and again on paper,
it's a much better card name recognition aside, just nine
versus ten, eight versus ten, and then the women's show
(59:13):
away eight versus twelve, All those are fantastic fights. Then
you go further down the card and yeah, there's name
recognition that even if you're more of a casual fan,
you there's a good chance you've heard of Eric Anders.
You've probably heard of Miles John's Andre Feely. So yeah,
am I telling you all this should have been on
(59:34):
the road in front of fifteen thousand people in Memphis, Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
No, but it's much better card than last week.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
Okay, I was just asking, Yeah, I love the card. Yeah,
So I don't want to be judged for it, Roman Delise,
Anthony Hernandez. Hi.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
Now I'm not you can like what you like, Mike.
I'm not here to judge.
Speaker 2 (59:54):
I just say on paper and look, yeah, I agree
the results of last this week, we're better than on
paper going into it. The problem is it was so
bad going into it that I don't know how many
people really care to check it out and be pleasantly surprised.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
But I'm not point being. I'm not judging. You like
what you like, man.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
I also wasn't pleasant.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
You're also by the way you goddamn pillow fighting love
an mffort.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Okay, I did watch the pillow fighting, but I was
gonna say I wasn't pleasantly surprised because I knew those
lightweights were all gonna be bangers. I'm sorry real quick.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
For the last ten minutes, I've been trying to figure
out how to bring Pillow Fighting back up because I
realized I had left the website open and I was
gonna go back and close it until I saw a
tab that said register to fight. So while we've been
sitting here, I haven't hit sinned yet, but I filled
it out for you.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
I just need you to tell me why you think
you should be selected, and I'll put that in the box.
Speaker 3 (01:00:51):
And then, cause you need warm bodies, and I'm willing
to do it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
I mean, but that would probably suffice.
Speaker 6 (01:01:00):
But is it asking if from Softpaw or orthodox, name,
email phone number, weight age, city, state, zip code, country,
your fight experience, your social media profiles, and why you
should be selected?
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
See, I don't have that last one. Besides, my friends
will laugh.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
At it because it looks like fun and I'd like
to do it, and I'll work for cheap.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
I don't think I agree with at least can I give?
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Can I corner you if they select you?
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
I thought I was fighting you.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
I'll have fun.
Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
I've been doing this shit dude, I'm a grown ass,
adult male.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
I don't pillow fight.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
No disrespect to you rough and tough pillow fighting dudes out.
Speaker 1 (01:01:40):
There, but I'm saying not my thing.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Look, I'm also a candy ass, so I'm not stepping
in a cage or an octagon or.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
A ring either.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
So I mean there is that, but yeah, no, I'm
not fighting you know you afraid of some rando pillow
fighter out there.
Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
Yes, I'm afraid cass by feathers and not looking manly
at all and having little tweety birds fluting around my us.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
You know what, I'll fill it out for you. Don't worry.
I'll put something in there and then i'd send all right.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
Fight night Saturday at the Apex ESPN ESPN Plus main
card at seven pm Eastern.
Speaker 1 (01:02:22):
In your prelims.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Actually get underway at for Eastern in your main event,
Anthony Hernandez Roman Delite pair of top ten mid awaits
this one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
I felt like my initial first reaction was just to say,
Anthony Hernandez is going to be an overwhelming force in
this fight. It's an interesting predicament. Both guys have built
up momentum, They're both looking to ascend I think they
are both looking for a more high profile opponent than
(01:02:55):
each other. Considering the wind streaks, considering how delise Is
has taken random fights to try to get ahead in
the UFC. You look at their strengths. Delise has fought
up at two hundred and five pounds. His strength is strength.
He's a bulldozing wrestler who's been a presence in a
force Anthony Hernandez on the feet for a guy that's
(01:03:19):
not an overwhelming athlete, speed, volume, combinations, durability. That has
been his keys to success on the feet, Relentless wrestling
and clinch takedowns, tiring his opponents out and just making
a grueling affair. It feels like early on it's really
(01:03:40):
gonna tell us the tale of this fight. Because if
Delidze is able to land with his power, I think
that makes a difference. He's the more powerful fighter. If
Hernandez is able to wade through that first round and
come out undamaged, I think he can start to build
with his cardio being a huge strength, because I don't
think that's something that Delidze has in his back pocket.
(01:04:03):
I feel like for dalids it's more he's learned to
manage that Cardio isn't a strength where he's found time
in the fights to be able to take breaths and
recompose himself, where Fluffy is just a continuing onslaught and
he tries to tire you out in the fight.
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
Yeah, I think I'd agree with that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
So I don't know which one is really gonna prevail here.
It's an interesting battle of wills, I feel like, and
both guys big spots in their careers. I believe that
Dalids a older just had a second child. He's in
his mid thirties. This is a real make a push
towards the title moment for him and the co main event.
(01:04:48):
The UFC apparently really slow on the website. It's not
Steve Ursag versus Alex Petz as it appeared to many
people on the website right now, and depending when you're
looking at the website, might not even reflect the actual
fight because at one point it was gonna be Hung
Sung Park and now this Saturday, the co main event
will be Ode Osborne and if you're keeping score, that
(01:05:11):
one will be at one hundred and thirty five pounds.
Due to the short notice nature for Osborne. Ersek jumping
up to one thirty five, and this is back against
the wall for Steve Urseg. You were in the flavor
of the month. We all love the loss to Pantosia.
I feel like he came out with the fifth round
(01:05:34):
that he had and people had a lot of respect.
Got waxed by Kai Kara Franz. You lose to Brandon Moreno,
it's three in a row, yes, to three of the
top five. But I feel like there has to be
a real urgency from Steve Erseg in this fight, and
now there's a whole lot of unknown with a whole
new opponent on a week's Yeah. I mean in the
(01:05:58):
last two weeks he's had three different and you look
at Petees a wrestler park, we saw him not a wrestler,
was more of a striker, and now you go to
a much more kick base, athletic striker in od Osbourne.
Good luck for now having to make a third game
plan for Steve Ersek who I heard an interview with
(01:06:19):
him and he said he feels like he needs to
go back to doing an emphasis of looking to finish
and to do damage, and that he felt like he
was focusing on too many interest sees of other elements
of his game that kind of had him holding back
from the aggression that got him to the UFC. I
think I like Erseg in this fight, but ode Osbourne
(01:06:42):
is definitely dangerous and is definitely a heck of a kicker.
Angela Hill, I believe, is the other rank fighter we're
talking about here. We're in the other ring matchup with
Yasmin Luciendo. Not many fighters have his much experience as
Angela Hill, And now it's kind of weird to say,
(01:07:05):
I don't know if there's many women that are as
well rounded as she is. The grappling had been such
a gaping hole in her game for so long that
it took many people by surprise to see how the
diligent work of many years in the gym had made
Angela Hill a well rounded fighter. Luciendo, I believe we've
(01:07:26):
seen her fight live when we were at the fight
night in Colorado. I want to say she can have
moments of brilliance, she can also be lulled into fighting
her opponent's fight. And I think that Angela Hill has
a higher volume and a high and a bigger gas tank.
I think that this is Hill's fight to pull out
(01:07:47):
because I just don't know if Luciendo has the focus
to get this one done, because we've seen that be
an issue for her.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
Uh yeah, you're probably right. I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Yeah, it's a one, but I'm favoring Hill. Let me
not make it sound like it's going to be a blowout.
I just think that she has the wherewith all the
knowledge to pull out close rounds.
Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
Yeah, I would agree.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
Christian Rodriguez has done a lot more at one forty
five than I thought than a lot of us thought
he would. Being an undersized one forty five, He's looked
to have put on muscle recently. He ruined quite a
few prospects in his time, and now he takes on
a veteran in Andre Peely, who is a really big
one forty five. I think this is a tricky fight,
(01:08:33):
but Andre Feely inconsistency has marg his career where there's
just moments where he gets caught. This one should be
really entertaining for as long as it lasts. You also
get a bright prospect at one hundred and forty five
pounds with Gene Matsumoto versus Miles John John is the
more well rounded fighter.
Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
Matsumoto.
Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
There's some worrying There are some worrying tendencies because he
can have a lack of aggression in his top game,
but he is such a bright prospect. I'm still willing
to ride with him opening up the main card at least,
how I have it, Christian Leroy Duncan versus Eric Anders,
your boy, big power. He's been around the UFC forever.
(01:09:16):
I think that Cold has finally been around long enough
to understand who he is. I think that he can
clinch up and nullify the power of Anders, and that
his ability to move around in space is going to
give Andrews problems to start off with. We go to
the pre Lambs and we have light heavyweights with Julius
(01:09:39):
Walker versus Rafael Securia knockout two big swinging finishers. Neither
one of them has proven to be elite level at
this point, so you look at this as a regional
quality title fight, and I think that we see someone's
skills shine to the top. I'm not sure which one
it's gonna be. Elijah Smith is a prospect to keep
(01:10:01):
an eye on, probably the biggest prospect on the prelimbs,
and the best reason to watch Myra Bueno Silva. I
think she continues her to scent down taking on Jocelyn Edwards.
Just not the same fighter anymore. And if Juliet Julia
Storenko can't get the arm bar, she doesn't get the win.
(01:10:22):
We've kind of seen that throughout her career.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
With you on that. Uh, pre limbs are my bad.
Prelambs are at four pm Eastern time, ESPN, ESPN Plus
Main Card seven pm Eastern ESPN, ESPN Plus.
Speaker 3 (01:10:39):
You're ready for next week?
Speaker 1 (01:10:41):
Stakes? Are excited?
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
We get DDP, TIM IV, the Windy City, Pico and Murphy,
a pay per view card that's pretty loaded. Excited?
Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
Yeah, all right? Cool? Anything else for this week?
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
This week GOVI to kgemines dot com. Got a whole

Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
I think everybody has the threads?
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
Does everybody have a threads? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
It's tied into something your Facebook or something?
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Oh is it or your Instagram or so? Yeah, they're
all tied in together.
Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
Oh, I guess I have one? That then too, I didn't.
I will fat to figure out to tell people how
to follow us. There, thought us on an ad that
said you had one?
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
Yeah, like I said, I think we all do.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
I guess I should logging on my Should I have one? No?
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
I have one? Hold on I'll tell you what it is.
Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
What the fuck guess I think it's real? Mike Carlisle.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Probably, Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Yeah, it's tied
into your uh, your Facebook. I gotta be honest, i'd
lose interest. Yeah, after you go about three or four
deep into the social media like I tried to, and
I'm still on Blue Sky and all that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
It's just it's, yeah, it's too much effort.
Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
Are you posting on blue Sky and threads?
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Whatever you post on Facebook goes to threads.
Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
If you haven't set up a blue Sky you have
to make an effort to go post.
Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
I have I have it in a while, just wondering,
I haven't went on blue Sky. I don't know. I
kind of forget to post on X by now.

I should uh sit you down with the guy. We
