there's Taluma back in MMA. I feel like there's a
lot of good vibe. Heck, we're even heading to Rio

excited about.

starts to wind down. Big UFC three twenty this past weekend.
Like you said, uf season reo this weekend, Yeah, lots
of stuff going on. You want to jump right in.

The high dive. UFC three twenty this past Saturday, t
Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A heck, of a main card,
a heck of a card overall, but a heck of
a main car. Two title fights at the top, and
let's start with that main event. It didn't take long.
You blink, you missed it. Alex Perra regains the light
heavyweight title and made it look really damn easy with

Came out there said okay, there is no toying around,

within a couple kicks, Magga Man Caliav is having two

trying to wrestle. It's not a great shot. He ends

didn't complain about the stoppage, who didn't get up and

some of that online after the fights, I'm like you
people know, no, it was not. It was just a
dominating performance by Alex Perreira. And look, that's where I
kind of want to start this conversation with I'm not
surprised Alex won. I am surprised it took a minute
in twenty seconds and it was that one sided, especially

coming off the first fight between these two. And I
know Alex said he wasn't right. Hey, I think he
said last week I was about forty percent for that fight.
I don't still don't really know what was going on,
but I think based on this performance, whether it was injury,
other things, a combination of stuff, it's safe to say yes,

Alex was not himself in that first fight and it
showed what we saw on Saturday was Alex Perira ready
to make a point and solidify his spot as a
bad m effort, and he went out and did it.

I wonder if part of the brilliance of what Alex
did wasn't just the anger and ferocity and aggression, because
I want to highlight and attribute a lot of this
success to those visceral, kind of raw animal reactions, but
a more tactful thought is was there just a thought

likes to dictate. Let's close that space and let's make
him play speed chest. Now we're making him make decisions
in a much smaller time, quicker reactions. Now we're getting
in there. Because how many times can you really think
back in your mind and think about Magamed and Kalai
of getting in the pocket, getting in a brawl, exchanging
big punches. That's not his game. And I wonder if

it It wasn't just I'm pissed off, but I wonder
if that was a strategy. Was that tactical, Was that
let's make maga men get in there and make these
decisions quickly and see if he can swim, sink or
swim when there's a shark at his feet.

I think perhaps, and maybe it was due to injury
or whatever, but in the first fight we didn't see
this from Alex, and I think in the lead up
to this fight, he and his team sat down and said, look,
you can overwhelm him with the punches, you can get
him on his heels, you can take this right to him.

Go out and do it. And that's what he did.
And yet you know, like I don't know that he
fought angry per se. Certainly he went into the fight
with a chip on his shoulder. I don't think there's
any doubt about that. But I think it was more
about proving a point and letting everybody know not Look,
I'm still at my peak, I'm still bad as hell.

Here we go. And yes, unlike the first fight, as
short as this was, everything was dictated by Alex instead
of feeling out back and forth Magamed kind of controlling
the pace and Alex not being able to do anything.
It was a much different game plan. How much of
that was health related is certainly, you know, a fair

conversation to have, but a completely completely different fight and
mindset going into the fight than the first matchup.

You can't fully give credit to the performance about it
out acknowledging the leg kicks, those leg kicks early, the
effectiveness of those three first leg kicks to have Magamed.
We think about it took eighty seconds for Alex to
get this done. It took fifty seconds, maybe sixty to

force Magamed to change his stance. Think about how many
fights we've watched for guys take ten, fifteen to twenty
leg kicks before they're making that decision, because it's so
hard to switch your defense. Now, ANKILYV is the kind
of a fighter that will switch from south pod to orthodox.
He is a natural softball, but he's normally doing that

in a manner where he is the one dictating, where
he is the one firing his offense, not doing it
out of survival, not doing out of a defensive reaction.
And I think that put him in trouble right away,
and that's what made the overhand so susceptible, because Alex
wasted no time when he got in the distance to
fire off that huge weapon. Now, how much credit do

we or how much do we deter the performance, because
nearly immediately after the loss, I'm seeing on social media
pictures of a broken rib from Magamet and Calia of
injections and quite possibly the and Kalia of camp right
away jumping into the survival strategy of this was an

for a trilogy fight. Do you feel that that's a
desperate attempt or do you think that makes some sense

I think it's certainly possible. And much like with Alex
after the first fight, saying he wasn't right, he wasn't
one hundred percent, I'm fine with that. I don't think
it's gonna get you a trilogy fight. As a matter
of fact, we'll get into this a little bit. I
don't think we see Alex at light heavyweight again now

that remains to be seen. But even if we do,
I don't believe we're getting a trilogy against Ankliav. But
it's entirely possible. He went in injured. I've got no
reason to dispute that. You do have to wonder when
something like that comes out that quickly after a fight,
how much of it is trying to cover up a

that's only natural. But yeah, I think it's entirely possible.

a loure, it had been washed away. There was some scuff,

to fall back on for Alex, right because he went
back and proved it in the second fight. Has there
been a better four or five year run for a

Each of his last ten fights have either been a
championship fight or fights against people who previously held or

they're not the greatest. But since then it's only been

middleweight and the light heavyweight division. It is one of
the wildest runs that we have ever seen. Alex Pereira
has fulfilled all of the thoughts that Gokinsak had if
you remember that name when the UFC brought him over
and he got flattened by Khalil Rowntree.

It's interesting because you want to talk about Alex and
his place in history is an all time great. I
do think the relatively short UFC career hurts him a
little bit, and at thirty eight years old, look, we're
talking about what he's done in roughly four years. I
don't think he fights another four years, So you're talking

a relatively short career when you're looking at his place
all time, But you look at what he's accomplished in
this short amount of time, it's really freaking hard to
argue that he's not up there among the greats. If
you want to tell me so and so, fault longer

who's had a better four year run than Alex has.

It's been incredible. It's hearkens back to early John Jones,

of hearkens back to that error and that feeling to

will fully be able to understand it, cause none of

the crossover. It's a lot easier if this was Austin
Trout coming over from boxing. What he's done in bare knuckles.
It's a lot easier to recognize that greatness because you

understand the other sport to say that Alex at a
time when Glory was the number one kickboxing promotion in
the world, when they had Adasnia, when they had tons
of recognizable names, he won two world titles in two
different divisions in that company, and then comes over to
MMA and does it the same. So it's it's a

different way to categorize him that you got to recognize
Alex is one of the greatest crossover combat sports athletes
that we've ever seen, because no one has done what
he's doing.

Thirty three wins in kickboxing twenty one by knockout, you know,
before he gets around to dipping his toe into UFC.
That's crazy. Look, I think it's easy to say, you know,
if you had just come over five six years earlier,
what could he have done. I don't know that he
would have been the same. It's weird, but I think

he may have actually benefited from starting the MMA portion
of his career later in life. Did you agree with
that or no?

I think so because every experience helps mold who the
fighter becomes, and without those thirty three wins in kickboxing.
Without the fifty fights or forty five fights it was
amateur and pro that he had in kickboxing. We don't
know if he has the requisite experience, the skills, the
same kind of weapons to be this Alex in the octagon.

I think that it's an interesting conversation, but I don't
think we get this done product without those fights, without
the addis Anya's, without the Ardem vahitass, without some of
these fights that he saw in glory, I don't think
we get the season fighter that Alex is today.

What is next for Alex. Supposedly the plan was to
call out John Jones that got put on hold because
of the death of John's brother this past week, but
by all accounts, Alex wants to move up to heavyweight.
Dana White was asked about this at the post fight

it per se, he did go into detail and asked
about it that his hesitation is because this guy was
a middleweight and it's not like jumping up three weight
classes and boxing. You're talking significant jump up a house.
You gounna fare against those bigger guys, and if we're

talking about most anybody else, Micah, I'd probably be inclined
to agree with Dana on that. But Alex is so
damn big and walks around at two thirty five, two
forty hell maybe sometimes even a little bigger. I don't
see him having any problem fighting at that weight class.

to go in and dominate the heavyweight division, but if
