Speaker 1 (00:00):
You special sit down with Zach Knight, So Zach professional
Wrestling Superstar by the way, people, I don't know if
you know this, you probably do if you're watching my show.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Uh So, Zach by the way, is.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
A uh uh. I don't want to say are you still?
Are you under contract with AW? I didn't want to
say you're an AW superstar and not say you're an
aa W superstar.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
You know what I'm saying, like, yes, oh I'm on
the contractor IUW okay, well yeah great.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
No, I just wanted to know it wasn't you know.
I wanted to make sure that you know, was official
before I was like.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yes, Awn a superstar.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
No. Uh So, anyway, man, I really want to thank
you so much for popping on here.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Uh Zach.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
The reason why he is on here is because he
posted a little post on the internet asking just to
do podcasts, and I was like, fuck, yeah, I'm gonna
do that. I really want to talk to this guy,
so uh let me let me give a message, and
he wrote right backshop shit out of me. So thank
you Zach by the way for that, and you know,
saying yes, by the way for one.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You're very welcome. Listen I wanted to put the message
out there. I understand that, you know, podcasters have a
hard time sometimes trying to get hold of the wrestlers
and everything else. One thing that I feel separates me
from the rest of the pack is I remember that
I'm a fan at heart, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
And I want to get that message out there.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
I want to be able to connect with the audience,
connect with the fans, and you know, stay humble.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
That's a big part of my journey, right That.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Is definitely the big part of the journey, man, And
I really do appreciate that on behalf of all podcasters
for you to come out here, and I look forward
to seeing what you go out there and do after this.
By the way, but let's talk for one. I got
to get the history part out of the way here
for some people. Ah, Now, you started wrestling when you
were ten years old?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Is that correct?

Speaker 3 (01:44):
That is correct? So I was around the ring from
six years old. I was going out as a mascot
for the baby Face.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
The blue Eyed as we call them back home.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yea. So basically I would go out and I would
get three spots during the match. It'd be the run,
it would be the bronco in the corner, probably a
six to one nine or a middle rope rana. They
were like my high spots throughout the matches. Then I
would get caught by the villain at the end, once
the baby face was up. They'd catch me body slammy

(02:14):
land a legroup and the place would go dead quiet
because they didn't know if I was a person of
restricted growth or if I was a kid. The whole
audience would be like, this person's dead. I'd done that
from six until I was about nine. I had a
couple of exhibition matches at nine, but I made my

(02:36):
professional wrestling debut.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
It was April.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
I was ten, so you're looking at about April two thousand,
wow roughly.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
And a guy forgot his but he didn't forget his
ring gear.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
He couldn't make it to the show, and he called
ahead and said to the promoter, look, the cars broke
down or whatever's happened.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
The promoter come up to me and was like Zach.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
I was like yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
He's like, how about you don't mascot tonight? And I'm like,
what what have I done?

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Right?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
He's like, no, we need you in the ape Man tag.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I was like yeah, fucking OK.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
So I basically done my three spots at the start
of the match, get the crowd into it, and then
uh yeah, after I'd done my flying head scissors, I
went for it again. They bought it tombstone. They dropped
off the top.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Rope and I was eliminated. We've done that forty two
times that year.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh no, oh man, bro, that's amazing. That is that
is legit amazing.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Like I couldn't even look fare them at ten years old,
being in the ring with a bunch of people like
that doing off top Bro, like do no, no, see
that that's you're You're a better man than I.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
My friend, you are a better man than I, and
you were at ten.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
They say that kids aren't scared of anything. It's so true.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
That's very true.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
You know, I look back now and I'm in my
thirties now, and I'm going, no, I wouldn't do that. Now,
I have some guy jump off the top row, you know,
fifteen foot in the air and land on my head. Now,
but no, yeah, so I was ten when I made
my debut.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Bro, that is that is ridiculous. And and your your family.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Runs I'm sorry here, it's a w a s or
w A W Sorry w A w AW, I'm fault sorry.
How long have they been there running the organization there?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Like?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
How long? I know you guys have been there a
long time, A long time.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
So we're actually celebrating thirty five years this year.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Wow. Okay, that's that's.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
All the second with the second longest running company in Europe,
just behind All Star Wrestling, ran by mister Brian Dixon
God Rest his soul sadly passed away, but his grandson
Joseph or Marks doing a fantastic job teaming up with
a gentleman called Tony Spitfire to keep All Star Wrestling alive.
But yeah, I mean we've had some phenomenal names within

(04:59):
w A W all of which you know, I've managed
to rejoin and see again in AEW and you know
when I was a WWE and everything else, I've never
signed but multiple trials. So yeah, WW has got a
very rich history. People here in England. You know, there's
a lot of respect for WAW because it's still very

(05:20):
k fabe. The fans aren't stupid and enjoyed the product
for what it is, and you know, and they pop
in the right places. So w aw is one of
them places where people will fly you know, far and
wide just to state the wrestled there.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Oh wow, man, Like I because I've said, I've gotten
to see a couple of things, and I really like
the fact that, you know, you guys do stick to
that that whole you know, where the fans do are
in on the gag. You know, they're in on the show,
they know what's going on, and they go there just
to enjoy the show.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Like, yeah, you've got to remember that thirty five years
has passed and in that time we're now on to
like the third generation.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
And of family members coming in right, so you know, the.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Grandchildren have now become either the parents or grandparents even
and they're bringing their kids and children and family members
along and they're educating them themselves of how they should react,
what they should be doing, what happens here there and
everywhere else. Was still very traditional, you know, national anthem
before world title fights, run system seconds, you know, so

(06:26):
we're very traditional to the British sport and professional wrestlings.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Kind of world of sports styles and for people over
here that would know a little bit more about it,
it would.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Be the world of sports.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Okay, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. So do you have a very
famous sister the you know eleant in the room.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Everybody you know should know this.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
If there was watching this, U what is it like
getting to work with her in aw Man, It's been amazing.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Obviously, you know the movie was out and issue people
how distraught I was that she was leaving, right. You know,
me and Sorayah, we've always been close. There's a lot
of the movie that got you know, Hollywood, you know,
tried to paint me as the bad guy. But the
truth is, you know, I was Sarah's biggest supporter. The
reason I didn't go to the airport is I'm not
very good at goodbye. You know, even when I leave

(07:14):
to go to work. You know, I try and get
flights when my kids are already in bed because I
don't want to be saying goodbye at the door. It's difficult.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I'm the same way, you know, I'm the same way.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
But twelve years past, obviously she's very American now and
I'm still very British, And you're there thinking have we.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Lost that chemistry?

Speaker 3 (07:33):
But this year twenty twenty four has been magical because yes,
I signed to ADW something that I've chased for twenty
plus years. But at the same time, I got to
you know, catch up with my sister, catch up I
lost time. See how similar we both still are in
our adult life, when really we haven't really been around
each other other than a face call or a text message.

(07:56):
So yeah, you know, it's incredible to be with Soraya
and Lodge, to be part of how the outcosts, you know,
it was. It was a good rub that I needed immediately, right,
you know, But I'm hoping to prove to people I'm
there because of.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
My walk right and merit.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
I hope so too, because like I saw your work
and Ring of Honor, uh and that was just like
the cap and your match against and against Angelo was
really good, dude, Like you guys had so much good chemistry.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Like so, like, is there like all right?

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I know the landscape of AW has changed like a
lot since you last had a you know, a couple
of matches in there since the Angelo match.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Actually it's changed a lot, like.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Flip one eighty, Like if is there any plans on
like I don't want to, like, you know, bring up sortly,
is there any plans on you coming back anytime soon.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
So let me just let everyone know what happened here.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Uh yeah, I would like to clear that up because
a lot of people are saying, you know, you know,
all the bullshit online.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I'm not gonna go into that, you know, about how
people like oh I want to know from you honestly.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Look from the horse's mouth. I'm going to go into
full detail.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
But there's personal health, you know, and a few things
that came about when I come home in June, and
you know, I had to write to AW and ask
them for a couple of weeks off for personal reasons,
you know. So I came home, I landed June the eighth,
and you know, basically seven weeks later, the end of July,

(09:30):
I was basically said to them, okay, I'm good to go.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Thank you for the time that was needed.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
So I was medically clear and fit to go into Wembley,
which I'd done Cardiff and Wembley. Right, So, yes, I'm
under contract and you know the past few months, you know,
like I said, seven to eight weeks so that I
had to take off. Now, the thing is when you
when you take time off a business, that is fifty

(09:57):
two weeks a year.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Three hundred and sixty five days.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
It's very hard to leave and then say I'm ready
to come back now when you've got a roster like
we have the best roster in the world, the very
best wrestlers in the world wrestle for aew right, And
for me to say I'm going to take two months
off and then I want you to fly me back
in and carry on where I left off.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
That's not going to happen.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, No, work works like that.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
So right now I'm you know, they know unclear.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Yes, I'm sure that they've got, you know, some stories
and everything that they're thinking off for twenty twenty five.
I plan to be back in America as early as January,
you know, but I.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Basically have to wait my turn again.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, you know, Tony and aw were phenomenal to me
when I was there at the start of this year.
I've basically done about nine months straight out in the US.
That was a big part of Obviously, got a wife
of three kids at home. It's a real mental strain,
right to know, to keep leaving them and only getting
two or three days at home. You know, my children's

(10:58):
mental health, my mental healf my wife, that's more important
to me than anything else in the world. So this
is why I took some leave after you know, a
really strenuous timeline.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Being out in America, Tony was phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
I was getting really good dark matches against some really
good caliber of wrestlers.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
You know, I was getting put over.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
I'm still undefeated in a ring of honor, you know.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
And the iceing on the cake was that match.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
With with Jeff Angelo, a phenomenal worker. We were given,
you know, our time and it was basically, go out
there and shows what you can do. And unfortunately it
didn't get fully displayed on TV programming, but we had
some stuff in uh the ads, the ad break time

(11:43):
that was phenomenal and the crowd would really enjoying it.
But yeah, to answer your question, you know, I've been
off for for reasons, you know, personal reasons. The doctors
and everyone have now said Zach's ready to go. So
it's a case of for my turn again, you know,
and deliver them when the opportunity comes, gotcha.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
So that's awesome to hear though, and I'm glad that
you're ready and rearing to go, and it's just a
matter of time really before you get back in there,
and there's.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
A lot of people as well.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
A lot of people don't understand about awn WWE honestly
is there's a lot of people under contract, and not
everybody's gonna fit right now into the puzzle, you know
what I mean, like, but they will.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Right and you know it's storyline based. You know, we've
got new signs coming in that you know need TV
time and everything else. Tony's a very smart man. You know,
you don't get to where you are being stupid, right,
you know, he's a very intelligent man. We're five years old,
the company is growing rapidly. Yeah, I believe twenty twenty
five is probably going to be their biggest year yet.

(12:50):
You know, demand of what he's doing and in Tony
I trust, and you know, I want to put it
out there that you know, Tony gave me a chance
when when no one else did.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
And believe it or not to the listeners that are listening.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
And you know, I was actually talking to ae W
eight months before my sister actually signed there.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
See that's that's pready negotiations. And this is why I
went and got my own visa, uh and why there
was a process of me waiting and in the meantime
of my visa, my sister signed.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
There right, and it was like, yes, that's awesome.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
We've signed at the same time to the same company.
All them dreams as children saying we're gonna do this,
We're gonna do that. Finally we got a chance to
do it.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
That's awesome. Yeah, yeah, man, it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
That is so, that is great.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I'm so glad you're getting to actually, you know, be
there with your your family and then your friends do that.
You said that you know you've worked with in w AW.
You know, like it's like, what is l like too
seeing all these people that you know, we're basically European exclusives.
I'm not gonna lie because now not many people you know,

(13:54):
really knew about any of them before, you know, coming
over here, Like what what is Lake seeing and who
specifically have.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
You So I would say, you know, sixty percent of
the roster I already knew from working in Europe and
the UK. You know, Brian Danielson worked for WAW, Cultana
worked for WAW. You know, a lot of the Ring
of Honor boys were always brought over. So people am
Roderick Strong and you know that there was there was

(14:24):
a vast number of people that I knew, and there
was more people that knew who I was, which is
the biggest shot, you know, to come over to America,
a place that I hadn't really done a lot in
I've done Mexico, I've done Canada, you know, I've done
all of Europe, all of the UK. But America was
a place that I was I was one of those
guys that was like, I'm not working in America unless

(14:45):
I got a visa. It's just not worth the risk,
right right, Right.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
You're building up all this.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Anticipation about what Zach Night really going to be like.
So yeah, but the first few weeks, believe it or not,
I found it really hard to transition. You've got to
remember that, you know, obviously stateside, American football, baseball, basketball,
these are all huge sports that ain't so big back home, right, Right,

(15:11):
I'm a football fan or a soccer fan, or I
like darts and i like fishing. So when I'm going
out there and I've got nothing in common with these guys,
and then I'm learning to wrestle American and TV style, right,
I'm used to calling a lot of my stuff in
the ring, working off crowd reactions, seeing what's working, and
then dialing up a bit to you know, give the

(15:33):
paying fans that money's worth. We didn't have people watching
on TV. We had a live audience that we wanted
to come back on the next show on So it
was a complete change of style. I'm actually a very shy,
quiet and reserved person out of the ring. Zach Knight
is crazy, He's a badass, He's happy to fight anyone.
But Zach Beavers is actually, you know, very quiet, you know,

(15:57):
low Ki doesn't really I'm.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Not a people I don't really like people right right.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
I have the same way doing the same way. The
person you're talking to is a whole different person than
when I'm off of the mic. It's it's totally different.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
I'm a radio guy, so I have to have the
personality like but I don't like people anymore.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
You get what I'm saying, Yeah, you get what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
It was it was difficult transition.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Not only that, you know, I've been told that I've
got a rest and bitch face very intimidating. I'm six
foot four, seventeen stone, right, it's like two forty. I
think in US pounds, you know, and I'm walking around
the building keeping my head down, and you know, some
people are like, who is this guy?

Speaker 2 (16:38):
You know I'm going on.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Here, but everyone was really that first match I had
at the first Dark match I had with John Cruise, yes,
I know, it might have been Peter Avalon. Actually, okay,
I'll get confused one of them matches with my first matches.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
I went out there and done my match, not.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Really talking to too many people, just keeping my head down,
waiting for an opportunity. And when I come out of
that match, I had maybe seventy percent of the roster
that was there working all backstage, like, dude, that was awesome.
We love your punches. Oh yeah, that knockout punch. We
love your intensity, we love that urgency here, you know,

(17:16):
and that's my style of wrestling. And I think as
soon as they see what I brought to the table,
it was kind of open arms welcoming in.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Ye yeah, I'll do that. But such good. You are good.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
I didn't mean to cut you up, but you're brawling, like, yeah,
your punches are like dead on, bro, Like I thought
you killed when I watched the Jan Creuse mansion.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
I've seen this one. You not either. He sells real good?
Are you connected? Real good? Like because he he goes down.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
He had to give Johnny flowers. You know, he's not
in a position he's in, you know, not being a
good wrestler. He's phenomenal. Yeah, you know, he's in the
Hant's talent. If you need someone to look good, John
is the man at you're calling. Oh yeah, you know,
just look at that Samoa Joe meme that went everywhere
done that cross by John Cruise is amazing. But you know,

(18:06):
for me, I had to bring something different to ae W.
You know, there's no point me going there and trying
to fly when you've got Will Osprey. There's no point
me trying to go in in tech when you've got
Daniel Bryan. You know, you put me trying to go
in there and do some crazy shit when you've got
Derby Allen. You're then sitting there thinking, so I'm signed,

(18:26):
what do I bring to AEW? And what I bring
is intensity, you know, someone that's legitimate to the sport
of wrestling, someone that's going out there to not really
please the fans with my move set, but to get
them to question to go back to when they believe
professional wrestling for a split second, if I can get

(18:47):
if there's ten thousand people and then twenty of them
are going, did he just punch him?

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Or that supposed to happen? Is this guy unhinted?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
You know, this guy's crazy. If I can get you
to think anything other than this is just wrestling, or
you know this is something we saying before, then I've
done my job and that's what I'm trying to bring
to AW. You know, right now, I think I'd be
a perfect fit for John's the mock Free Faction because
them death Riders, Wow, I feel like.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
They need a nut job like that.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
I feel like you would fit in really well, tell
you the truth? Yeah, So so let's uh, let's let's
switch to.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
The Gears here a little bit. And I want to
know Zach Beavis, the the the person.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
I want to know what kind of music you listen to.
I want to know movies you're into. I want to
know basically you. Let's let's talk zech.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
So no one's actually gonna believe this because obviously, as
I said, I'm a big dude. I'm a bit of
a brawler, you know, But in mean time when I'm
Zach Beavis. Actually, I could sit there and listen to
boy bands and love ballads and you know, stuff that
has meaning to the lyrics, right, you know, something that
you you can resonate with, like.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
I've had a broken heart, I remember, you know.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
So I'm one of those guys that can sit there
and I like a good sing song, you know, anything
that just brings the energy.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Into the room.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Movie wise, again, people are gonna be like, who is
this guy? I'm a rom com guy. I like a
romantic comedy or a comedy.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Amen, you know. So for me, I'm just you know,
my wife was sa, I'm just I'm a big bear.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Really, you know, I'm so soft in the middle, hard
on the outside.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Not a Cabriy's cream makee right?

Speaker 1 (20:31):
So all right, when I'm gonna go a little bit.
When you were younger, right, so do you remember what
like first movies you ever saw? Like what movie did
you get to go see at the movie theater? Like
when you were younger, like the first one you've ever remember?

Speaker 4 (20:43):
We didn't have a right lot of time.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
So my mom and dad, you know, when I was
a kid, British wrestling was still.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Having a boom, right, you know.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
So in the nineties when mom and dad's if it's
a thirty day or thirty one day calendar, they're wrestling
twenty seven of them.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Easy, right, they're no, yeah, they had no time.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
We were on the road, you know, we were on
the road. We'd get back at three four in the morning.
We'd try and get into school, whether it would be
three or four hours before we had to leave to
get to the next show. You know, I don't remember much,
you know, for me, it's more moments. I remember moments
in wrestling. I remember that being five years old and

(21:19):
my dad got a power drive on the concrete and
an ambulance all turned up and you know in British
wrestling nowadays you do, but back then ambulances weren't a
part of the show. And you know, my dad is
a big, strong, tough old school man, you know, and
seeing him laying out of a brace on his neck
being put onto the board and they're like lifting him

(21:40):
onto the bed, and I remember just hysterically crying, going,
this bus has just killed me, you know, I fully believe,
you know. And then we got back to We lived
in a public house at a bar. So we went
back to the bar and Dad took this next brace
off and was like a successful show drinks on me.
You know, I thought you got hurt and he sat down.

(22:03):
He was like sons, time you learn the business, and
you know he explained it to me. So, you know,
everything in my life has always revolved around wrestling.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Gotcha.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Okay, there's you know, so getting to experience watching Big
Daddy and John Haystach. I was gonna ask you about
Dad or McManus, Roller, Yes, Sol Murphy fit Finley like
these the people that I grew up watching.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Right, I would be uh very uh put down by
a few people here if I did not ask you
about Cat Weasel. Now, I understand that it started off
as a TV show, right, the character itself or like something.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Like that, and then.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Somebody took over the name as a wrestler, and I've
watched some matches and this man is great.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
I don't know where he came. Do people know where
he came? Do you know where he came from?

Speaker 3 (22:58):
I can't tell you that Cap wes phenomenal and you know,
one of the biggest names in British wrestling, Wallace, for
he's a real crowd pleaser, phenomenal athlete. So yeah, but
for me, when you think that people like got I
turned straight to Les Keller. I never got Less Keller live.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
But for someone that you.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Know, just understood them, them tiny comical moments, right and
you know, being able to really pull the strings of
the audience with a simple look or a turn or
just a slight movement.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
You know.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah, he was.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
He was like the Hogan of British wrestling, but he
was the Big Daddy.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Before he was Big Daddy before Big Daddy. There you go.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Because Big Daddy, I compare him to Hogan, and I
compare Giant Haystacks to like Andre and his Bobby Heenan's
terror you know time, you know what I mean, like
and those guys would have some meat slappers I've seen
like they were just slamming it as He's just a
slam There was no finesse to the to the Big

(23:57):
Daddy and Giant Haystacks.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
Man, when you think about it, two big guys, you know,
you don't want to see them slick rolling around the
ring taking an arm. You want to see these two
be out of it, that's right. And you know, and
sometimes I feel like, you know, wrestlings lost us way
a little bit in that way if we still had
the weight categories, you know, because super heavyweight wrestlers people
are still into as much as the lightweight. That's true,

(24:22):
you know, so to I know, the business has moved on,
and you know, once it's moved you can't go back.
But I was a big believer in weight divisions, you know,
being over fifteen and a half stone, so over two
hundred pounds to be classed as a you know, a heavyweight.
You know, until you'd won the lightweight, the cruise weight,
you couldn't go for the heavyweight.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
You know, there was a real ladder of success that.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
People can you know, visually see and go okay, I
know I had to climb.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
The ladder, right right, right?

Speaker 1 (24:51):
What did you think of I know you weren't around
during the time when he was a guy by the
name of young David.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
He's because what do you think of him?

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Before he became went to WWE and somehow looks like
he ate Young David and became you know, like super
saying David.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
You look at people like the British Bulldog and Dynamite kid,
you know, and they really put Britain on the map
for us. You know, they were the first ones to
really educate Americans that these Brits, you know, they can
they can chain with the best of them. They've got
good amateur background.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
You know, they're.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Snug, they're believable. You know, Britain's got their own unique style.
And you know, before I sway off, I want people
to know that if you're trained in British wrestling, utilize
that because ultimately that's your superpower.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
When you go elsewhere in the world.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Right, make no mistake, people like you know, Eddie Guerrero,
the Hearts, you know, all these people come over to
Britain to learn British professional wrestling. So you know, we
sometimes I feel like that's forgotten. But when I think
of David boys Smith, I just think of that first,
you know, brit that really managed to break through the
glass ceiling and give people like me someone to look

(26:09):
up to and say, hey, I'm going to be the
next Bulldog or you know, and in time, obviously a
lot of people have gone on to following his footsteps,
but you know I was I was more a dynamite
kid fan.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
I loved his you know, his edgy nurse, his rapid nursey.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
That just that burst of energy, the snugness with his clothes,
lines of back elbows, and you know his punchers always
looked legit. Oh yeah, so Dynamite for me, you know,
I actually got to see Dynamite wrestle my dad on
the back.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
End of his career.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Really.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
See, then Tommy sold for fourteen minutes.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Wow, my dad is beating him and he's gone.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Tommy, the crowd frends. He made him come back and.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
He's not yet, not yet. You know when Tommy did
come back and got the finish, because that's all he
could do at that point, right, you know, his body
was ruined, but you know it's turned on for that
seconds to you know, rag them around the ring and
then get out for that big dyn in my head
butt for the pin and the place would just go crazy.
But you know, my dad's a forty year vet and

(27:09):
he always stayed that working with Dynamite Tommy was one
of his best experiences, and he learned that, you know,
you don't have to rush for or anything. The fans
are gonna be there if you keep them right, keep
them want and more.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
Yeah, exactly, So let's get all right, I want to
keep this move because I know you got you know,
stuff to do, and I want to I want to
get your top five wrestlers of all time, okay, any organization,
any era, Okay, I want your top five, and then
I want your top not five. You know what I'm saying,

(27:45):
like your more at least favorite, and be honest, brutally honest.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
So okay, all right, okay, so my top five. So
this is really I get asked this question a lot.
Now I'm gonna go purely on wrestling. Yes, not for
crowd work or because you know, Hot Cogan is one
of the biggest names in professional wrestlers. But I wouldn't
have him done as my best wrestler down as my
best character and how to.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Work in the audience exactly exactly.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
So I'm gonna strip all that away. My top five.
You'd have cut Angle, you'd have Eddie Guerrero, you'd have
Shawn Michaels, mister perfect and Scott or Great great picks
that they're my top five?

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Are your top five?

Speaker 4 (28:27):
You know?

Speaker 2 (28:27):
And know what about your know what about your bottom five?

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Okay bottom five?

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Now again, I'm not just saying this that you know,
anyone that knows me personally will go, oh, you're putting
Zack on the spot there, because I appreciate everyone for
what they bring, right, Yeah, now, it's really difficult to
be like this guy was ship.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Oh no, not necessarily that they're complete garbage.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
I'm just saying that, you know, if when you think
of professional wrestlers, these guys are like just the bottom
of your list, Like you know what I'm saying, you
know whatever.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
I totally get what you're saying. Yeah, as a fellow
professional wrestler. You know, I'm learning right now, bro that
I'm not everyone's cup of tea.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
True.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah, you know, I get a lot of heat on
line staying I'm a terrible wrestler just because my sister
is famous, instead of actually watching my wrestling and going, actually,
his sister might suck for whatever she's done. They's pissed
him off for her brother. Actually they share the same blood.
But he's actually quite good. You know, I feel like

(29:31):
people can get tired for the wrong reasons. Now I
can only pick these wrestlers off hearsay and not from
you know, personal you know, talks with them. So you know,
it's a great question and it's very controversial, but I
am going to have to pass on this one because
I do believe that, you know, there's no such thing
as a terrible wrestler.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
To have the balls to do it.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
It makes one step ahead of the average Joe that's
not willing to chase their dreams.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
And that's a great answer. That is the best answer
actually anybody could have given.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
I honestly didn't want you to get in trouble with anybody,
so I was I was kind of half expected to, like,
I didn't answering that shit anyway, period, but to give
a great answer for it.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
I've always been real with you. You know, it's difficult, and
I know that podcast. You know, of course we want controversy.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Yeah, I'm not going to pick up. Yeah, I'm not
about that though. I just asked some questions that come
in my.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Head cracking question.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
I'll be watching the future to see if someone actually
trips over up that speed bump.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Bro. All right, so let's talk your top five musicians.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
I gotta get your musicians here, because I gotta know
what kind of music you'd be listening to other than
you know, the the you know, the your pop songs,
or whatn't I know? I know you like it, but
what's your top five songs of all time?

Speaker 3 (30:49):
So I am a big falling in reverse fan, and
I was before Sarayah and Ronnie were going out, So.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
I love his music.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Popular Monsters probably up there because that song resonates with
me for someone that suffers with mental health, someone that
you know had a breakdown nearly eight years ago through
mental health.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
You know, just hearing that.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Song, it's it's quite you know, it gives me goosebumps
and it uplifts me to know that someone felt and
feels the way that I did and I wasn't alone,
because that's a big part of mental health is thin
and alone, right, you know. So Popular Monster is up there.
There's a band called Bad Walls. They done a remake
of Zombie in twenty eighteens. That's up there as one

(31:32):
of my favorites, I would probably say in the end,
and Numb as like a joint third Rent the Park,
absolutely phenomenal. I'm a big Oasis fan. I love any
Oasis song. You know, someone's got that playing backstage. So
me and will os Pray actually spoke about It's a
while ago, you know, just how much we love Oases.

(31:54):
I'm sure that Bustard has got tickets over here as well,
but I needed to get a hold of so anyone
listening to this, if you want to make dreams come
true and send Zach Knight to Oasis, they get in
touch with me.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
All right.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
You hear it, you hear it, make it happen.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
People, And my last song choice would probably be Beastie
Boys Fight for You right. The reason for that is
my dad used it as ring music for twenty plus years.
Then I started tagging my brother and we become the
UK Hooligans.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
We then used that for ten years and to this day.
You know, as soon as you hear that, damn.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Can't it you just can't help it to bop and
exactly energize. It's the real uplifting track exactly.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
And fun fact about that, my uncle went to college
art school with the Beastie Boys at Bard College here
about twenty minutes away from my house. Yes, sir, they
came in and I thought the first day they were there.
He said, they come in on their own helicopter to
the quad and then yeah it was ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
I don't have helicopters. Bro I'm still driving around it
in a.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Van right right, me too. It's a mini one that
I got from my kids and so I can keep them.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
So zach Man, I, I thank you again for coming
on and chilling, and I would love to have you
on again at some point anytime that you're available and
talk about Like I said, I have another podcast with
my friend Andre Gower of The Monster Squad where we
talk about movies.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
From our childhood.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
And you know he you know, he's he was in
the movie The Monster Squad and uh so we uh,
I would love to maybe even have you on there
if you're like any kind of movie guy, you know,
and you know, I'd like to get your one movies.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
I just I'm very punched on you know. Sometimes you
ask me a question, I'll go.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
Oh, don't same here, but uh and and also got
some music ones too, and I know I know you
like some music, so we have to get you out
when we're doing that. But do you have anything you
would like to plug right now? Are you doing anything
recent upcoming anything?

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (33:56):
So I'm actually I've taken a few independent buckings just
to keep myself in the ring and active, so anyone
that's listening. December the fourteenth, from wrestling for my dad's company,
WAW Carols and Carnage. If you go to youtubeer type
in WAW, they live stream their events. I'm a thirty
minute IROMN match against my nephew and that's this Saturday.

(34:19):
The following week, the twenty first, I'm in Hanover, Germany
for POW for their last ever show, never running ten years.
I was a big part of that company, and you know,
I'm actually honored to make sure I'm there for their
last show. I'm wrestling for their world title. I'd love
to be the last person to ever hold that championship.
I have a very tough challenging for SCALE. And then

(34:41):
the twenty eighth, I'm near Walls and I'm wrestling for
a guy called Matt Powell and we're doing a traditional
six by five minute round Wilder sports style match. Soon,
three different companies, three styles of matches. And then January,
I'm heading back to America to a cup where I
left off. I've got a ring on a title that

(35:02):
I need to win before the end of twenty twenty five,
and being undefeated dat I think I've got a good
job I.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Think you do too. We'll be rooting for you quite
frankly because, uh, thank you. I would love to see that.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
And again, thank you again Zach for coming on. I
will post links to everything that Zach actually was talking
about according to WAW the show. I'll post that rate
as soon as this goes up. So everybody just keep
an eye out for Zach to come back to American
Professional Wrestling, and if you're overseas, go watch where he's
wrestling over there because he's amazing, so no problem.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Many have a great day, man.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
You too, Thanks Bro.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
