La detective story nasce, nell’Inghilterra positivista di fine ‘800, come ricostruzione di un ordine violato: c’è un crimine, si indaga, il colpevole viene trovato, giustizia è fatta. A questo schema si ispirano investigatori iconici come Holmes o Poirot, punto d’origine di una produzione letteraria e narrativa immensa. E di una cornucopia di film e serie di enorme successo, con un modello che ancora resiste fino ai giorni nostri: psicologicamente appagante, perfetto per un intrattenimento episodico.
Ma la “tv complessa” del nostro tempo ha messo in crisi il meccanismo rassicurante del giallo classico e degli show televisivi tradizionali. Lo vediamo attraverso 4 serie e la loro rilettura post-moderna della detective story: Twin Peaks, True Detective, Mindhunter, Too Old to Die Young.
