Sceneggiato dal Maestro di Malamocco, ovvero il veterano del racconto d’avventura Hugo Pratt, e illustrato dal virtuoso veronese della matita Milo Manara, è ambientato nelle colonie del New England del XVIII° secolo. Compare per la prima volta nel 1983, a puntate, sull’allora appena nata rivista Corto Maltese, costola della storica Linus.
Tutto ricominciò con un’estate indiana è la vetta della produzione dei due autori, che qui si fondono mirabilmente. Pratt si abbandona con voluttà alle forme ideali delle donne e dei giovani, ritratti da un Manara che di contro non eccede mai, sfoderando un tratto sublime ma sempre fedele alle necessità della narrazione.
Una storia ricca di rimandi letterari e di immagini evocative. Centocinquanta pagine di perfezione stilistica e narrativa, che si fanno divorare e poi rimirare a lungo.
