(00:00):
Oh, she satisfree Servinus. She'sour fifth Scout, you guys, that's
right, Sailor Scouts, the fifthScouts here, not her guardian armists meet
Sailor Venus. Were united at last, Looking sharp there, kitty gang,

(00:28):
who haven't changed enough? We didn'tcome here just to put on some Scout
jambo, right, too bad?Your room dust creeps so black, you

(00:59):
see. Welcome back to Moonstar,a Sailor moon podcast. I'm one of

(01:27):
your hosts Alex, and this weekis a very special episode. Today we
finally get to meet the mysterious fifthSailor Scout, Sailor Venus, who they've
really been doing a good job ofbuilding up in the show. I think
if you're going in episode to episode, there's a lot of things that bank
her unique from the other Sailors. Some of them are more obvious than others.

(01:51):
Clearly, she's the only Scout besidesa Moon Scout who has a celestial
feline guardian, hers being Artemis. She also was originally introduced to the world
in the manga series code named SailorV, which she was the main character
for, and this is still reflectedin the anime a little by her character's

(02:12):
history, which was largely contained inone episode that we know was cut from
the original English dubbing of the show. Don't worry, we're going to cover
that on a fandom like we alwaysdo. Sailor Venus was actually ranked second
favorite character among readers pulled in nineteenninety two, and the reference I was
looking at didn't state who the firstone was. I tried to do some

(02:36):
digging through there, and for somereason I just couldn't find the full list
anywhere. So I would guess thefirst is Sailor Moon. But I don't
know if anyone can find the officiallist of the readers pulled in nineteen ninety
two and comment it somewhere, I'dlove to see it, and we'll share
it with everybody here for sure. Also, Sailor Venus has one of the

(02:58):
less obvious elemental affinities. This,I think, in part from what I
was reading, is because she startedas Sailor v But also I think it
was, as we discussed later inthe episode, part of the mystique of
her possibly being the Moon Princess aswell. Without much else to say,
I just thought that some of thatwas interesting. I thought you guys would

(03:21):
enjoy hearing that. But let's justjump into the show. Let's I wrote
this like hokey pokey segue, andI'm going to deliver it even though reading
it now, I'm like, comeon to me, But here you go.
Let's take route Venus to Christinize.Coverage of sailor V makes the scene.
See you on the other side. How was your week? It was

(04:51):
good? I UM, I didn'tdo any interviews on my own channel,
but I was guest co host Forum, another another guy's channel, and I
did two interviews for them. Oneof them was actually just this Morning to
uh so that was fun. Yeah, you told me that's exciting. UM,

(05:14):
tell us a little bit about whatthat was like. Yeah. So
the first one was on Wednesday orthis past Tuesday or Wednesday. It was
with Mike Pollock, who was mainlyknown for being the voice of a Doctor
Eggman and the Sonic franchise. Andthen the one this morning was all about

(05:36):
um on that. It's a Itwas centered on a Netflix anime that came
out last fall called Romantic Killer. It's a fun um reverse harem romantic comedy
h and I. It was withthe two lead actresses, Denny Melody and
Courtney Lynn and I had already interviewedthem a year ago, like just for

(05:57):
their own careers, so it wasfun to be back with them for that.
And when you got to do thiskind of guest spot, are you
does that mean he's just not thereso you're interviewing in place of him?
Or are you doing it together? No, it was it's together. Yeah,
Oh that's fun. Okay, soit's like a full collaboration. When
can people see that the first youdid too was the first one coming out.

(06:20):
They're both up now because they werejust we did them live on YouTube.
Oh nice? Where can they findit? Yeah? So they're on
Super Raccoon Bros. Like Super MarioBros. It's like, all it's just
the word raccoon instead of Mario. It's all one word. And then the
one from this morning is on hissecond channel called Super Raccoon and Anime,

(06:42):
and it's also all one word.Nice. It's funny you bring up the
Super Mario Brothers and it's a cutename actually, because I'm seeing like a
raccoon with a Mario hat for alittle I don't know what it really is,
but that would be cute. ButI don't know. Do you follow
Nintendo Direct and stuff? Yeah?I watched that um manly because I was

(07:03):
hoping for more fire emblem stuff thatdidn't get announced yet something really special from
my childhood came up. Can youpossibly guess which one? Yeah? I
saw, I saw. It wasthe remake of the RPG maker Mario.
H Have you played that game?Uh? Yeah, like really briefly?

(07:32):
Okay for people who don't know whatit is or who have not experienced it.
Super Mario RPG back in the daywas a Super Nintendo game made when

(07:54):
it was still Square Soft and Nintendo, and they come like they, I
guess, did a collaboration like whatyou're doing, and they made a very
final fantasy but still with a lotof Super Mario aspects. RPG game and
the playable characters were Mario of course, Bowser, Princess Peach, and then

(08:15):
Jeno, who is this little dollthat a star spirit comes down from like
the sky and kind of goes intoto help Mario. And then Molo is
this cloud prince thing that when hegets upset his emotions control the weather and

(08:58):
he like fell out of the guyand was raised by a frog. I
love the story and it's just themost charming game. It's one of the
most charming RPGs there is. Ilove that they have. So there's like
the Mario jumping like platformer aspects asyou're exploring the world, but then it's
still a turn based battle system, and then within the battle system, you

(09:20):
can hit buttons to time, likeif you hit it at the right time,
it does combo attacks and critical hitsand stuff like that, so it's
more dependent on I don't know,it's it's a really unique experience, and
I was excited to see it comeup, and then I saw it come
across some of the other Sailor MoonYouTubers I follow. I think Sailor Page.

(09:41):
I don't know if I'm getting itright, but she's one I follow
because she did some Sailor Moon anotherstory playthroughs and stuff with reactions like like
Rhett's doing right now. Yeah, and she was freaking out about it,
and I was basically watching her freakout about it because I hadn't seen it
yet, and I was like me, that's how I feel, because do

(10:03):
you know the lare about it?No. So the reason this is such
a big deal is when like wewanted a sequel to it, and the
Paper Mario Games were the unofficial sequelseries to the original Super Mario RPG.
But the reason they're so different anddon't include any of the like Final Fantasy

(10:24):
characters the way the first one didis because there was like a falling out
between the two companies and then eventuallySquaresoft became square Enix, and the characters
that were used in this game weresort of locked behind a weird corporate war,
like they just wouldn't okay them touse the characters again. So like

(10:46):
Jeno and Molo, because they wereshared I guess license or whatever it was,
Nintendo just wasn't allowed to use themanymore, and it sucked because it
was one of the best games theyever made. And then, to be
honest, being a fan, it'skind of like watching It's almost like being
a kid watching two adults have thebiggest baby fight and you're like, why

(11:09):
can't you figure this out? Doyou know what I mean? It's like
so weird. Anyway, this showis not about that game, but I
have a sneaking suspicion that a lotof our listeners are into that too,
and that brings me to this question. Have you interviewed I know you do
a lot of fire implement stuff thattends to be more like other like,

(11:31):
I guess it is that Nintendo technically, No, it is, Yeah,
fire emblement is also like Nintendo property. Why did I think that was a
Square Enix game? Okay, soyou do Nintendo interviews, then that's kind
of your realm. What from theupcoming Nintendo director are you interested in that
regard? I don't really in thislast one. I don't really think there

(11:54):
was much I know, I knowI the Persona three remake is supposed to
be on Switch as well, notthat I would like. I don't buy
any games anymore, but as Ilove the Persona series and that's my favorite
Persona game, that's nice for peopleto be able to play it on there

(12:16):
as well. It is, andthere's voice actors for that or yeah,
okay, so that might be aninteresting thing. Okay, well is there
anything else? Oh, Pride you'regonna do? What's your Pride plans this
weekend? If you want to sharethem? Yeah, yeah, it's just
I actually haven't done anything for MinneapolisPride before, but it's always it's always

(12:39):
the second to last weekend of Juneand it started today. But I didn't
do anything today. I've just beenin the area at home. Yeah,
there's a at the main gay clubthat I go to, the saloon.
They have a block party that theyI don't know how long it is,
but they block off most of themost of the stream that it's on and

(13:01):
um, you can buy you haveto buy tickets for it, but it
goes all day and um tonight tonight, Um Schee Koole is performing. I
know her. I've seen her livea few times. She's actually very incredible
live. I saw her shortly afterher season when they were doing the world

(13:24):
tours and stuff, and she hadthat song cocky and yeah, and I
me and my friend and like,I don't know what it was, but
I saw her do it live. And then every time I see her face,
I just hear her going cocky likebecause that's what she says in this
song. And then it plays ona loop, and then I'm like,
I can't look at her anymore,um, because but yeah, no,

(13:45):
she's she's fantastic. That's cool.That's a big big name from the you
know that world. She won AllStars You know that, right, You
probably knew that. Yeah, forpride for me, I told him,
I'm probably not doing much out inthe town here. It's the weather has
been pretty choppy here too, mAnd I don't know. I have a

(14:09):
lot of editing to do it withthree episodes of the show to edit and
a video, so I'm probably gonnabe doing that, and I'll just celebrate
by doing it in a very gayway because why why not? Right?
Yeah? Oh one other thing,um, yeah, I haven't. I
haven't announced this yet on anything.Um, I don't think I will.

(14:31):
But my three hundred interview on Mondayand then my three hundred and first um
the next day are actually more castmembers from the re dub. It's um
Keith Silverstein, who is a hugemodern name, but he also he does
doctor Tomo. And then um mynext one after that, Eric Kamara is

(14:54):
a fish eye. That's a bigone for you. That's a really big
one. Yeah. That's exciting forme too. Okay, Well, you
know remember what I said about numbers, right, Yeah, here's some interesting
things. Today. We're recording technicallyepisode thirty three of our first season.
Because of the way I split thingsup. It is six twenty three twenty
three and you're getting your first ofthe three hundredth interview of yours actually lands

(15:20):
on my birthday, which is kindof funny. Oh, and then the
next one, being fish Eye,is just perfect because it's like, like,
what a perfect one to start thenext one hundred with? Do you
know what I'm saying? Yeah, totally, I'm so happy for you.
Congratulations. How do you feel?Yeah, it's it's especially nice because I

(15:43):
just I'm glad that I decided topay three dollars to message Keith on cameo
again because I just didn't think thathe would because I talked to him the
first time about it like two yearsago, and he said that he wasn't
really he didn't really like doing interviewsabout himself, right, And then I
sent him another message like six monthsafter that or a year after that,

(16:06):
and then he just saw it anddidn't say anything. And then I tried
again. I said that, youknow, I'm about to be on my
three hundred interview and like I wouldlike to have another big name for it,
ideally, and then he didn't sayanything for two days, and all
of a sudden he got back andagreed. So that was a really good
surprise, And it was the kindof the same thing with Eric. I
had just normally emailed him because hisdirect email is like he has it displayed

(16:30):
everywhere, and I never heard anythingfrom him either, and then all of
a sudden I did, so Yeah, that's that. That that that same
thing has happened several times with biggername anime voice actors where I just didn't
hear anything from them emailing them directlyor whatever the first time, and then
the second or third time I suddenlydid. So. Yeah, it just

(16:52):
shows too, if you're doing this, then never stopped trying. Just keep
obviously stay polite, but like youand be persistent and polite at the same
time. Yeah, it's first ofall, rule of threes, like the
third times the charm with that yougot that person on the third try.
Yeah, also, but persistence. It's like, it's interesting you bring that

(17:15):
up because today's culture can be there'slike mixed messaging going on with it,
right, it's a quick snap tosay you're harassing someone or not respecting a
boundary. But like you put alot of space between the time when you
were messaging them. I think that'skey, and you had something going during
that time period that was like consistentlybuilding and showing progress and showing that you

(17:40):
were serious about the request you weremaking. So like those two things combined
make it not a bad thing ifyou reach out a couple of times,
because I'm sure these people get howmany thousands of emails from someone once?
Yeah, and it's it's almost like, well, who's going to actually follow
up though, because they're the onesthat are a little more serious, you

(18:02):
know, and then who actually hassomething to show for it? So yeah,
you're right, I think persistence iskey. Just make sure you approach
it the right way and make sureyou're ready to follow through. That's the
other part, right, yeah, because you have the experience now where you
like, if you book the interview, you probably don't even get nervous.
You're like, cool, let's doit, right, Yeah, pretty much.

(18:26):
Yeah, Well that's fantastic. Okay, So exciting news for you there,
And that's a good note to jumpin. We get an exciting addition
to our team today. Are youready to start? There's a focus Sailor
Moon on the scene today stealing Ohmy glory if she friend or foe and

(18:47):
when she finally shows her true colors. Is it too late for tuxedo mask?
Can the Sailor Scouts save him? We'll be right back and I'll show
you what is our title for thisweek. It's similar to the one in
English. That's some enter Venus, the Last Sailor Guardian. We have Sailor

(19:07):
V makes the scene and but correctme if I'm wrong. Next week?
Is that the episode they cut withher going to England? Oh like vs
like me Knocko's backstory? Yeah?Yeah, I don't think that aired the
first time. No, I'm justcurious where it lands in the lineup on
the episode list. I think itis the next one thirty four? Yeah,

(19:29):
yeah it is? Okay, No, no, no, no,
thirty four is um the elevator andthe silver Crystal occurring? Oh? Really?
Yeah? I guess it would havebeen a little weird to just go
Bam bama. Two Venus episodes ina row. Yeah, okay, good.
Than gives me a week to getthe fandom. Um this is available.

(19:55):
Well, we're starting a new VHSfor this one, and it's called
And in This Corner Sai Venus, which is volume eight of the adv release.
You can also find this episode onthe Buena Vista Pink series tapes Jupiter
and Venus Arrive or the ADV DVDrelease Volume five introducing sailor Venus, because

(20:17):
it's like all variations of the samething. And the VHS for this one
is sort of interesting because this wasat a lot of video rental stores,
along with a couple others, andI think I might have said this about
one other one too, But asi'm you know how, I'm like collecting
them and building sets and all ofthat. While I'm doing that, I'm

(20:40):
noticing specific tapes. A lot ofthem come back with the like Blockbuster thing
on it more than others. Andit's like this one Green Eyed Monsters,
Evil Eyes, and then the threeMovies more than anything else. For some
reason, We're in all the rentalstores, so I have a feeling a
lot of people saw a lot ofthe episodes. Yeah, um, pretty

(21:03):
easily when we were where when Iwas younger, back in the day.
So that's kind of an interesting pointhere. Do you remember the first time
you saw this one? I wouldhave been honestly, it wouldn't have been
until I rented the the when whenViz put out the the the DVD sets
of each season, like and splitup into two box sets. So those,

(21:30):
well, I rented the first twoseasons and um my, back when
I lived in Wisconsin, um my, Wisconsin Library System had them. So
I just rented those. Yeah,Wisconsin Library System better work. That's pretty
good for a library. They hadthe full season sets. We had a

(21:51):
few extraneous volumes at my library. So yeah, well that's cool. Um
how how how long after you hadseen like the full or like I guess,
like the later episodes. Do youthink you saw this one? Uh?
Well, it would have been apretty big your gap, I don't
know, Yeah, but you doyou think it's sick? Do you think

(22:12):
you saw it before S or after? Oh? Definitely after? Yeah,
That's what I'm trying to figure out, like what your order was. Oh
yeah, yeah, I saw like, I definitely saw all of S and
super S before I went back andsaw the majority of season one and two.

(22:33):
I only saw like weird interjecting episodesof the first two seasons when I
was younger. In comparison, doyou think it took anything out of your
experience with it having seen her likealready by that point. No, I
just I think yeah, No,I just think back then I I thought

(22:57):
that the art style or like thequality of the art difference was obviously very
noticeable. That was really the onlything that I like took away from it.
Okay, well, who is ourour animator this week? Speaking of
that's the bad one? Um MassaHerondo. But yeah, I don't.

(23:19):
I mean, it's not like itdoesn't. This episode doesn't look great obviously,
but it's not like horrible. No, it's not. And there's some
really iconic moments in it. Andevery now and then I would notice something
and I be like, oh,that's cool. I wonder who did it,
And then it would go into anotherscene and it would kind of be
like, I don't think I don'tthink it's you know, you know,
and then I'd be like, Idon't think it's the other one, m

(23:41):
but no, yeah, it's it'sfine. I think it's odd they didn't
have one of them do this becauseit is a debut episode. But I
know what is the intro for it. It's Queen Beryl watching our recap of
Enough Right Dying. Yeah, andthen she ends up having a conversation with

(24:04):
Zoisite and Kunzite about something. Whatare they talking about here? She's pissed
off that he still doesn't have moreof the crystals, and she says that
he has one more chance, andzoo Site says it's because of Tuxedo Mask
interjecting, and then Kunzite pops upand says that he'll also assists in this,

(24:29):
and then zoo Site like says tohimself that he would resk his life
for Kunzite, and then that's that'sthe scene. We should be able to
get those crystals back, no problem. I'll capture Sailor Moon and force Tuxedo
Mask to exchange the crystals for her. Don't you really think you can manage
that Zoisite. She's outwitted you severaltimes, and let's not forget you still

(24:55):
have her three sailor friends to contendwith. I know, I await your
orders, my Queen. I wouldlike to go with zoo Site majesty a
Malachite. I'm honored. Well,it's true the scouts have been a problem
in the past, so I've revisedour plan to trap them all and make

(25:15):
Tuxedo Masks surrender his crystals for theirsafety. It's a daring plan. It
will take a lot of energy, but it will be worth it. Very
well. I'm putting you in chargethen, Malachite, but I warn you
don't disappoint me. We won't.I want that imperium silver crystal. Now
my patience is wearing thin. Youbring the rainbow crystals back, you would

(25:38):
be well rewarded. I remember whenthis happened. When I first saw it,
I remember thinking, Queen Beryl seemsto be very like random when she
suddenly decides she has no more patiencefor someone, like she's all on their
side. And then but then, like I remember thinking that as a kid,

(25:59):
and then listening back to our coverage, I feel like we mentioned a
few times like you can see herstarting to get frustrated. Yeah, so
I think it just seemed more suddento me back then. But yeah,
she's she's getting mad. And it'sinteresting because it's one of the first times
we really have two generals looking outfor each other rather than you know,
gun up for one another. Soit's kind of a nice difference with the

(26:23):
two there. What after this sceneis the strange thing that Luna sees on
the news that some thugs were holdingup a bank and then quote unquote,
Sailor Moon comes in and hits knocksout the the bank robber and saves everybody

(26:45):
but Luna. It's obvious that it'snot the real Sailor Moon. Reach for
the seeing people. This is astick up. Put all the money in
this bag now, and don't anyof you banklerts training fancy. Yeah,
that's good advice. Who are you? Where you come from? Newsols.

(27:17):
An attempt at bank robbery was foiledtoday by that young super heroine named Sailor
Moon. This brave young woman whohas become familiar by now single handedly unarmed
the robber with a mighty karate kick. Sailor Moon coffee. Yeah, and
what does this like different? SailorMoon looked like they have a like a

(27:41):
naturally evil looking face, and thecolor pattern of the ribbons and the skirt
are darker like the ribbon is purple, and then the skirt and the the
shoulders are a darker blue. Mhm. And what's her weapon here?
A boomerang? I might be wrong? Did she have a Moon Tiara boomerang

(28:06):
in the manga? Was it quitethat? I wouldn't know. I don't
think so. I might have.Maybe that was the two makers one,
or maybe I'm thinking of a weirdfan creation. It doesn't I don't know
anyway, but yeah, she hasa boomerang wish to me, I used
to play a lot of Zelda acreative time and Steph and I immediately was
like boomerang like, thought of that, and I was like having flashbacks to

(28:30):
being in a giant fish. ButI thought this was an interesting idea,
something we haven't seen them do before. I don't know that they ever do
it again. No, And itwas I liked it because to me as
a kid, it wasn't immediately clearto me, like what they were doing.

(28:52):
Does that make sense? I waslike, I don't get their angle
with this. Yeah. Did youget what they were trying to do right
away? Yeah? I think soyou will. To be fair, you
might have been older than older.Yeah. Also, you've seen a lot
more of it, so you hadthat better idea. Probably what happens after

(29:14):
so we see her, I guess, like save the day with these robbery
going on, What is the secondthing we see this sailor moon person do.
Yeah, So after that it cutsto Usagi and Makoto are walking around
downtown and they're both having crapes, and then it cuts in the same area

(29:38):
to some window washers washing a skyscrapertype building, and it happens to be
some kind of library that Mamoro isjust outside of. And then some shards
like energy shards get thrown and arethey cut the ropes holding the portable bench

(30:03):
up and the washers are hanging bya thread, so to speak. And
then Sailor Moon the fix. SailorMoon comes in again and like kind of
like a spider Man type thing andsaves both of both of them. Sidebar.
Would you ever be a window washerif the salary was correct? No?

(30:26):
Fuck no? Why do people dothat? And what the like?
That is the one of the mostinsane actual jobs to me. That and
the fact that they're not all millionaires? Is it? Like that's what you
would have to pay to get meto do that? What's going on?

(31:07):
They need help? I can't holdon someone help m This didn't happen by
accident. Somebody sliced the rope.Oh, don't sweat it, folks,

(31:44):
You're safe as long as I'm around. That's not the Sailor Moon. I
know. I better see what's up. There's something about this rope in TV
shows that gets me every time withthe window washer hanging on, but they

(32:05):
do it a lot, and it'sit's the heights and everything, and even
it's even in an animated one.I'm just like, oh my god.
Um, when we first saw thishappening, the audience is not supposed to
know who cuts the ropes, butwe can infer who made that happen.
It's the it's actually the fixed SailorMoon. Yeah, so they're setting up
these scenarios to save them, iswhat we're seeing, which I feel like

(32:29):
has been a movie or something.I don't know if someone tell me if
you know that movie. Um.I thought it was kind of funny because
then after they see this, Serenastarts crying. What does she up said
about that? Oh? Yah,yeah, because they all see what happened
to um and what does what doesshe say? Exactly? Oh no,
So yeah, someone someone's using hername and she like, can't believe that

(32:49):
someone's doing that. Basically, yeah, She's like, what's the deal?
She can't be Sailor Moon. That'smy job. Can't you have got your
communicator, haven't you? We've gotto call the others now. I just
thought it was cute, a veryclassic moment for her Darien catches onto what's

(33:14):
going on here too, and hestarts following this different sailor Moon trying to
figure out what the hell's going on, and the girls also end up going
after her. Where do they allend up? What's this location for the
rest of the episode. It's thisindustrial district that's by It's in the same

(33:35):
area that a lot of seas likeoverseas shipments would come in for various things.
Yeah, I could tell it wassome kind of like a boatyard or
something, but I was I waslike, I'm sure it's a specific place
because they're good about doing that inthis show, And I kind of thought
it was a cool setting, althoughlike because we had the animator that we

(33:57):
did, I don't think it poppedas much as it could have. Yeah,
and then I have here, likejust an interesting note about Luna.
She slung down a robe and savedthe guy. No way, she's the
real item. I mean, thesailor Moon I know can barely swing a
hammock. Yeah, like for sureshe'd get totally tangled up like some poor

(34:19):
bug in a spider web Trader. What we need to figure out is where
she's coming from. Is she ourfriend or enemy. Yeah, I guess
you're right, Amy, Luna.Oh, could she be the fifth Sailor
Scout? You know, I've gotno cluel this one. Well, if
she is the fifth Sailor Scout,no way, that bogus show running phony

(34:42):
is stealing my name. I havea Sailor moon first, and it's gonna
stay that way. And if she'sbogus, that girl's gonna pay. Someone's
in trouble because I noticed this whenthey were asking her, like what she
knew about the last Scout and she'slike, actually, don't that much.
Well, she's meant to be theirmentor and kind of teacher. I think

(35:07):
it's interesting that a lot of hermemories are also locked, because if they
weren't, she would have had tolie to them a lot to make the
first season interesting, and I thinkthat would have ruined her character for me.
Anyway, if I knew the wholetime she knew everything and was just
full of it, I would havebeen like, screw you, Luna.

(35:28):
So I just thought that was kindof cool. I don't know, why
did you ever notice that or thinkabout that? No, Actually, it
makes me wonder what her first thoughtson Earth were, because she couldn't.
She didn't know who any of themtechnically were, so she was just like,
I must find the Moon princess, but I have no idea what she
looks like. Oh well, herewe got like that would have been really

(35:50):
a lot. I would have beenlike Jesus all right. Anyway, hold
on, I have to turn alight on. It's getting dark. Okay,
just another interesting point. This isthe last time we get our full
team transformation when it's all only thefour of them, right without Venus.
Yeah, I want to find outwho in the world that girl think she
is. She's right, thanks, let's go Sailor Scouts. I didn't think

(36:35):
the animation went. You know, when Sailor Moon is like hanging and there's
all the lightning and stuff. Ithought that part was animated well, and
that's when I wrote, oh whowho was the animator? And then the
next scene I was like, oh, fine, does she you know the
little intro speech Sailor Moon does, does she reference that the impostor was like
trying to take her place in theJapanese Yeah, yeah, thanks thanks,

(37:00):
So yeah she doesn't in the Englishone too, And it was cute because
she's like the original and like Ilike the way Terry delivers that line.

(37:21):
You let that bugle celemon go thisinstance to hear me. I am Salemon,
the original Jupian Justice, and wehave on the moon on behalf of
sale Mague in the name of usand for Jupiter. Also we will rape

(37:50):
round as tre evil slasters like youmost impressive seiler scouts. And let me
say, it's a pleasure of finallymeeting all of you for the And let
me assure you very last time. She's pretty good comedic timing. Honestly,
I think that's why she works sowell. And who shows up here comes
well, Yeah, and what happenshe pretty much uses that the ability that

(38:17):
he has to encapsulate them in ablack barrier that gradually gets smaller and smaller.
And it doesn't matter what kind ofattack is used if somebody is within
the barrier, because it just getsabsorbed. Yeah, and this is interesting
because had Sailor Venus already been there, they would have been defeated. Yeah.

(38:43):
So he is actually really strong, which makes him I think it does
make him a little. It kindof elevates him above Zoy site. Like
we see that there is nothing reallythey can do against him, and we
find out later the way they escapeis more tactical than power, I guess,
so when they have to continue tolike face off with him, I

(39:06):
think it kind of helps make hima more formidable opponent. How did you
feel about this, this whole thingwith the dome and all of that.
Yeah, it was a good Itwas a good introduction of his character to
show that he's stronger than all theother generals that have appeared so far,
and maybe more ruthless and direct too, because he was straight up like,

(39:28):
I'm going to kill all of youright now, and the rest of them
are like, let's enchant some planesor something, you know what I mean.
He's just like, nope, squish. So yeah, he's a lot
more ruthless too. We see themtry to break out, obviously, as
you said, it doesn't work, and eventually Imposter Moon is saved who saves

(39:49):
her Mamoru, And then once they'rein a more secluded part of the area
nearby, he stabs Tuxio Mask withthat same shard that like energy shard thing
that cut down the window washers andthen that's revealed that it was the Zoah

(40:14):
site. Using his powers to disguisehimself as the fixed Sailor Moon. I've
got to find Sailor Moon. Iknow she's in danger. I can feel
it. I'm may be too late. Better be careful. Text, somebody

(40:37):
got her up. Let's go ohwow, it's all right. Now we're

(41:02):
safe. You'll be okay. Yeah, And I thought this was kind of
fun because I feel like Tuxedo Maskknew I can't remember if he directly says,
but he had to know it wasn'treally her to degree. I mean,
how many times have you saved herat this point? And then I
like, whenever they fight, howwould you rate their interaction here compared to

(41:24):
the other Tuxedo versus Zoysite moments Iget. I mean, even though it's
mostly one sided, there is amore intriguing element to it, like how
Mamaro goes and hides in a littlecorner of sandbags and then zoll A Site

(41:45):
is just openly slashing everything leading upto it to make Mamaro come out.
And yeah, it's more of aeven though it's not an equal fight,
it's more of like a I don'tknow, intense than the other ones were.
I like that part. I'm gladyou mentioned it because I actually wanted
to ask what those were, andit's like, yeah, dust, sandbags.
I thought it might have been concretefor some reason, like unmixed bags

(42:07):
and concrete um. And I thoughtthat was animated well, and it was
kind of a cool I don't know. It gave you more of a like
feeling of being in the moment forhim to think like, Okay, so
there's stuff crashing down around him.He probably knows she's going to find him
by like, yeah, you knowif she keeps doing that or whatever.

(42:30):
I thought that was a good wayto do that. Oh yeah, And
then we get the whole mask beingblown away with the blossom attack, revealing
his true identity, go away thecrystal side, I know that face?

(42:57):
What was it like this? DidBeryl see him, like see his face
through her crystal ball? In Japanesetoo? Which one? Who? Like?
In the English one it shows QueenBaryl watching the fight and then seeing
when his mask gets removed. Ohyeah, because it looked funny like they

(43:17):
might have added that, like editedover it or something in the English one.
I'm not sure. So yeah,it's revealed who who he is,
and then something happens here what isit with that interrupts their fight? Uh,
he thinks that. Um he seesthe silhouette of Venus standing in the

(43:42):
little um open area where the moonlightI guess is still coming in or the
lightning or whatever. And then whenum, she looks back, she's gone.
And then um Mamroo has ran away. Come on, surrender, I'll

(44:05):
never surrender away. Crescent Where didyou come from? Oh? Just grat
they both disappeared. No, thiscan't be all the Sailor scouts are malachite

(44:30):
dome. Oh yeah, we actuallyget a crescent beam here too. It's
just not the full ye thing. But technically this is the first use of
Venus's crescent beam that we see,and it's used to hit Zoisite on the
wrist. And yeah, in thismoment um, it's really brief, but
it's it's kind of an interesting wayto introduce her where she has this like

(44:54):
glimpse, but you don't get atotal intro and all the other don't know.
I think they maybe did that becausewe don't get to see her awakening
like we do with the other three, you know what I mean, So
she needed a little something something afterthis we see tuxedo hiding like you mentioned,

(45:15):
and he's listening to things going onwith the Scouts being trapped, and
he replaces his mask, so hethinks, I don't know, he's hidden
again, and like he's the Scoutsare about to lose. And then he
steps out and he's like, I'llgive you my crystals, which is a
comment that happens a lot. Theyjust want to hand over stuff to save

(45:36):
people. Well, I mean,I guess what else are you going to
do? Though? At that point, and then we get what next.
Venice shows up more clearly this time, and then does you see the animation
of the crescent beam for the firsttime to hit Kunzite's hands and then it

(45:58):
makes them obviously after that, thenext the barrier goal away. I'm sailor
Venus, and if you're looking tomake any trouble here, it comes right
back at you. Venus Crescent howcroke in the force field? How could

(46:24):
see? Yeah? And this isthe first time we get the full thing
of the crescent beam or Venus crescentbeam smash in deek. Let's talk about
that ability real quick for a seconda little. What is Venus's element or

(46:45):
or you know thing supposed to betechnically, I mean, all of the
attacks are in the series are likelight based by no, what's technically love
too? So that's both right ifyou look it up. I think this

(47:05):
is more evident in the manga becauseshe gets the wink change sword ability.
Yeah. Um she's also so she'ssupposed to be love and actually metal.
Well kind of interesting because metal isan element in other cultures. Um so
as would that like if you knowcard chapters, they have it as an
element in there. Yeah. There. The reason I'm bringing it up though,

(47:28):
is crescent the crescent beam attack doesn'treally have anything to do with love
or metal. No, it's justlike a light beam. Yeah yeah,
what what do you think the ideawas behind this? Uh? I don't
know. I mean I've always justviewed it as a light beam attack.

(47:50):
That's yeah, like that's pretty muchthought. I mean, first of all,
it's always been one of my favoritesfor some reason. Um. But
second of all, I think Ifinally figured it out when I was watching
it. There's supposed to be thiswhole mystery about who is the Moon princess,
who is the leader? Is itpossibly Venus? Who is the Moon
Princess. Her first ability being crescentbeam and having it be a moon that

(48:15):
first appears when she uses it kindof adds evidence to her being the Moon
Princess. If you also combo thatwith her having artemis like Sailor, Moon
has lunas, so it would makeher like one of the only other possible
choices. And I actually think that'swhy I think it has to be like

(48:36):
part of that whole storyline where it'slike they needed I don't know, like
if her first ability was just likeVenus super Venus Venus move that has nothing
to do with the moon, everyonewould be like, well, why do
you think she's the Moon Princess? You know what the heck? You know
what I mean? So it hasto be that, right, Yeah,
if anyone knows, I don't knowhow you would know. If anyone continue,

(49:00):
Uncle Tack keeps it can confirm whatthe whole idea was, Please reach
out or actually just tell us yourthoughts. I would love to know,
because I find this I think aboutit a lot more than I think anyone
should. So there you go.Okay, I'll promise we'll continue with the
episode in a second. But sincewe have all the five scouts. Now
this is a good time to doit. We're going to do the four

(49:22):
inners. So Mercury, Mars,Jupiter, and Venus order their attacks in
your order from like most favorite asnumber one from just like from their just
from their initial attacks. Yeah, just the first four abilities. Oh okay,
um. First would be Supreme Thunder, second would be Fire Soul,

(49:43):
third would be Crescent Bam, Iguess, and then fourth would be a
bubble spray. Yeah. I askedyou, and I'm not ready. It's

(50:46):
such a hard question. You didit so fast. That's because I'm more
I'm more attached to the later attacks, So fair enough. Tell me why
you picked Supreme Thunder for your topone. I love the animation and I
love the I love the build upand the chant that it has um since
none of the other first attacks havethat, I guess. Just those those

(51:07):
two reasons, that's a good reason. I like all four of them a
lot. That's why I'm struggling,because they're all very unique in a way
that I think, especially by thetime we get to super s, they
kind of start to become more andmore similar in a weird way, like
with you know, the black backgroundin the formula and everything. They're all

(51:30):
very close, but I'm gonna gomy favorite is probably also Jupiters, for
the same reason as you. It'sit's hard not to choose that one because
the full version of it is soimpeccably well animated, and with the whole
hair stuff coming up, it's justit's so good. Mostly tied with first,

(51:51):
but maybe one point under. ActuallyI like the Mercury Bubbles attack next
because I'm just really attached to thatone for like nostalgic reasons. Also utility.
I love a utility ability and it'slike one of the only ones they
have, so and I like theidea that people see it as useless because
it's not. I don't know why. I just really respond to that.

(52:15):
Next would be Crescent Beam and thenFiresoul, but fire Soul is one of
my favorite Mars abilities too, Soyeah, I really like the way her
hands like vibrate, you know whatI mean, Like you can see the
animated the tension and into her movementextremely well upon your powers help me to

(52:37):
this monster and the crystals. Solooking what made us cross? Did it?

(53:31):
Find? That's hard? You guys? Let us know your do your
order for those four abilities in thecomments. Let's see where you guys land
I see. I remember we talkedabout doing this at one point, Remember
to do it. Okay, there'sno way to transition into this. I
wrote this line down because it's myfavorite line from the episode, and it

(53:52):
comes from zoyside and she says, enough, we didn't come here just to
put on some scot jambo, right. Um. Anytime someone says the word
jamboree and anything, I'm immediately afan. I love that word. It's
one of the most ridiculous words inthe world. And you don't even hear
it anymore. You don't, Andevery time I hear it, for some

(54:14):
reason, I see people dancing arounda fire making a pot of rice.
Like I don't know why they haveto be making brice, but like it's
just like, but I don't know, oh, jambalaya because it sounds like
that. Yes, okay, um, But but jamboree is the party.

(54:35):
I know it's a party, soI guess I'm combining the two. Um.
But I love that word, andI love that it's in this this
moment because it's like, imagine ifyou were in a situation with someone that
was just very heated because we allknow how crazy the world is. Like
let's say you're in an open carrystate and someone pulls out a gun on

(54:55):
you at like the grocery store, and then they say something like I didn't
come here to deal with like afairy jamboree. If they're like a homophob
or whatever, I would just laughin their face. I'd be like,
Star, can we just talk aboutthe fact that you said jamboree? Like
anyway, we have to move on. But I love that quote. What
did she say in the Japanese? He say in the Japanese? Here do

(55:19):
you remember showed up? Yeah?I think it was just something nondescript,
like oh, who are like whoare you? Like we weren't expecting,
like we don't know who this isor whatever. Before Beryl interrupted them.
Yeah, I have to say Isupport the choice of saying jamboree over that
all day sailor Venus immediately to meseems somehow apart from the rest of them.

(55:44):
I think I mentioned this before. She feels stronger for some reason,
probably because she has Artemis, butalso they sort of do a good job
of like talking her up, don'tyou think, Yeah, like before she
arrives and everything, and then there'sthe whole mystique of her possibly being the
Moon Princess. I think it's unfortunatethat you had already seen the later seasons

(56:07):
by the time you saw this.I know, um, are you were
you? Are you able to separateyourself from stuff in a way when you
watch it where you can kind ofstill go there with it? Do you
know what I mean? Yeah?Yeah, Okay, that's good because I
can do that too. This isa unique time in Sailor Moon where we
have our five inners but they don'tknow their full history yet. Yeah,

(56:31):
and it only really lasts for likea chunk of this season. Can you
think of any I can't. Actually, there's like one other comparable time to
this. Do you know what itis? In another season? You have
to say it? Say it,I guess, and Sailor Moon are when

(56:51):
like they're returning their memories. Ohthat's right, right in the beginning.
I would be the only other timethat we have like a similar setup to
us going on. Yeah, Idon't know what did we There's like some
I want to talk about some ofthe like shots at the end here because
they're really nice but did we missany of the story. The only big
thing that we didn't mention was umBeryl having an interesting reaction to seeing Momrou's

(57:17):
face, and then when she appearsto tell them to tell Conzite and Zowasite
to but plans of change and tocome back right away because she recognizes.
It's revealed like later that she recognizesMamrou is King Endymion or Prince Andy.
Meon, we didn't come here justto put on some scout jamber right to

(57:39):
your own dust creeps at once.We don't have the crystals, Queen Beryl,
I know that, but it's toorisky. Let them be return now
we can win, so I never, we better hit it. We're in

(58:00):
for an earful You got lucky, but everybody's luck runs out sometime. Yeah.
Right, And then there's that momentwhere a soy site is like,
but we can defeat them, andshe gets mad and she's like, never
questioned me again? Does that happen? Yeah, that's pretty much the same
thing. Okay, I think that'sinteresting, Beryl. I know why she

(58:24):
reacted the way she did to him. We don't know as an audience at
this point, if we're going inorder. Did you do you know why
she has such a strong interest. No, it's something that's covered in Sailorman.
Another story. Actually, when yougo to the past you can talk

(58:45):
with Queen Barrel. I might havementioned it before, but the Earth Kingdom,
which was located in the game atnorth like d North Point, which
is where they end up fighting her. Okay, the show. Yeah,
she would like watch the Moon andstuff, and she had a crush or
she was in love with I guessPrince Darien way back in the day,

(59:07):
and she was like too shy tosay anything or something like that. I
would have to go back and doublecheck the dialogue and everything, and you
know it's been like translated by fansand stuff. But the gist of it
was like it was sort of alove story where she wanted him but she
never told him or he wasn't interested. One of the two. She became
obsessed with like jealousy over what shecouldn't have, And that's kind of like

(59:31):
how Queen Metalia I guess found herin right like and turned her into what
she ends up becoming and why sheends up attacking the Moon and all that.
It's really interesting and you get toplay through it and you get to
play through the past where the moongets attacked. Yeah, it's cool.
So, yeah, people are interestedin that rets playing that game right now.

(59:52):
Actually, you guys will meet himsoon and you can go check it
out. But yeah, so,I just I know that that as her
backstory. I don't think they revealthat in the show, though, do
they? I don't think. Yeah, I don't think so they. I
know they do something with her storyat the end, but it came off

(01:00:15):
to me from what I'm remembering,as more like she was just interested him
in the present time, right mand then she's like gets mad that she
can't brainwash him into I'll get there. U. I had a couple of
other points here about Artemis's voice actor. Do you know who did his voice

(01:00:35):
for these first episodes he was in. It wasn't Ron Reuben. It was
not I'm on the doug one.It says Ron Reuben here, but I
don't know if that's accurate. Yousaid it's not him, It's well no,
I mean it says the same thingon the show. I've never I've
never heard anything about him not havingI never heard anything about Artemus having a

(01:00:55):
different voice actor. Initially, Iswear it changes, um, but it
might have changed with Cwy. Idon't know. Maybe he just developed his
voice over time in the first episode. To me, it sounds like he's
trying to suppress a really strong Southernaccent or something about the way he was

(01:01:15):
talking would sort of swing into Southernlike every now and then. I don't
mind that. I just thought thatwas a cool point. That's right,
Sailor Scouts, the fifth Scouts herenon a guardian artist meet Sailor Venus were

(01:01:36):
united at last? Looking the shotthere, kid again, who haven't changed
now? And then we get thislike really iconic shot of Venus right at
the end with the crescent moon behindher. Yeah, and it does that

(01:01:58):
like art within our thing again?Yeah, that you know we like here.
Do you want to add anything aboutthe episode artistically or anything specific?
Uh No, just that I'm gladthat I'm glad that it ended the way
it did on that frame, becauseI always love when I love I love
an older anime. When in termsof production artwork, whenever something shifts into

(01:02:22):
that's still frame watercolor image, that'scalled a harmony cell. I don't know
why it's called harmony but um,that's the terminology for it, and I
just always like I miss seeing thatand like non traditionally drawn anime nowadays.
I don't know exactly why they callit that, but to me, if
because I'm a musician, I wouldhave to guess harmony is kind of what

(01:02:44):
adds the warm through the color toa song. Okay, And I feel
like though like that style specifically invokesa really warm feeling, you know what
I mean? That makes sense?Yeah, it's it's a very cozy style
of art. Maybe that's why Ilove every time they do that. I

(01:03:05):
need to make a collection of thoseframes or something that would be cool to
look at all together. All right, let's write this episode. I'd give
it like a three and a half. I guess, yeah, I'm going
through it all in my head again. I want to be fair. I
think I would give it a twoand a half. Honestly, tell me

(01:03:25):
why what you'r rating is based on. I liked the you know, I
liked the concept and the plot ofthe episode about in regard to how constants
Allo Site get back, and Minaco'sintroduction was fine enough. I would have
probably even given it maybe half apoint higher. If it was a better

(01:03:46):
animator. Yeah, I don't.I didn't think it was bad. I
mean, it kind of had aweird pacing. That was my only complaint.
But and besides the animation quality,But besides that, it's fine.
Yeah, I don't think it's terrible. But when I'm comparing it to an
episode, I give five stars toyou know what I mean. Yeah,

(01:04:09):
my issues with it were, likeyou said, the pacing, the animation
moments. The reason it bothered meso much is because every time I would
get really excited about a great moment, it would like this quality would immediately
jump down, you know. Andit might because I'm paying attention to it
more because of the show, Butthat is starting every now and then to
like detract a little bit. IfI noticed like that would have been so

(01:04:32):
much better if it was someone else, do you know what I mean.
So I'm having a little bit ofthat with it. I'm especially bummed that
they didn't make a better choice onthe animator. Again, like I said
earlier, for a Sailor Scouts debutepisode, I thought that was a real
want. Yeah, because it,especially with Jupiter's debut episode being so strong,

(01:04:59):
to have all this bill build upbuild up, and then Venus' episode
comes in at a strong like middle. That's kind of where I'm at with
it too. And I also thoughtfor it being an episode that introduces a
new scout, it focused on hervery little. And then if we're watching
the deep version, we don't gether backstory episode, so it's even less.

(01:05:19):
It's like it's even more sparse. And then one more point of interest,
I don't actually know, does shetransform in her backstory episode. I'll
have to see the other gun Ihave only seen it like once, so
I don't know, but unless itif she does, then she transforms twice
in the Japanese and the original version. The only other transformation she does is

(01:05:41):
in like the solo one anyway,is in the haircutting episode, and I
remember that bothered me because there's nolike good audio of her doing a regular
Venus power because that she's like injuredin that episode, so it sounds weird.
Yeah, I don't know, justlike a random thing I noticed over

(01:06:02):
the years from like digging through thefootage. All Right, Sailor says,
oh a b I love to eat, but it's important to eat well if
you want to be strong like me, Right, pass up all of junk
food for fruits and vegetables. Itgives you more stained power. And drink
lots of water, not only thosecarbonated drinks with too much sugar in them.

(01:06:25):
And make sure you get plenty ofexercise. Your doctor or gym teacher
can tell you what's best for you. You want to be like us,
staked, fit and healthy. Right. This is a pretty straightforward one at
something that was in a lot ofkids shows at the time, probably still

(01:06:45):
is eat a healthy diet, stopdrinking soda, get plenty of exercises,
or get plenty of exercise. Yourtony go like your doctor or gym teacher
can tell you what's best for you. And then it's like, want to
stay like us, stay fit andhealthy. We I think can agree on

(01:07:06):
this, right. Yeah, Iwant to touch on it a little more
than that. I will say this. I'm someone who struggled with my weight
a lot. I've been up anddown quite a lot in my life,
heavy and thin and something that Ihave settled on, and it's like something

(01:07:27):
that a lot of other people settledon too. And I'm going to say
it the way Kathy Griffin said it, because that's my favorite way, But
it sucks, Like, after tryingeverything in the world, it absolutely sucks
that the answer is diet and exercisebecause that's all it is. That's like,
literally, unless you're trying to goget some kind of huge invasive surgery,

(01:07:48):
if you want an actual lasting change, that's the answer. And it's
boring and it sucks, you knowwhat I mean? Like, and it's
the reason I say it like thatis like I can't tell you how much
when you're heavy, hearing someone who'sin shape talking about exercising makes you want

(01:08:09):
to like slap them, do youknow what I mean? Because it's harder.
It's just harder when you're heavier, you know what I mean, to
actually get the ball rolling and literallyto get yourself what you have, you're
carrying more weight on your frame.Yeah, so I completely understand why it's
such a challenge, And I thinka simplistic message like this gets probably ignored

(01:08:31):
a lot because it's like overly simplified. I don't want to assume, but
I would guess that you're someone whohasn't had to think about your weight too
much. No, I've been thesame size like all my life, and
I think a lot of people whohave struggled with being overweight might hear something
like that and want to be like, hmm, must be nice, but

(01:08:53):
I wouldn't here to say I knowit. A lot of people who are
naturally thin and they're they have certainfrustrations, like they can seemed to bulk
up when they want to. They'lllike try desperately to gain weight and they
just can't. I don't know ifyou've ever experienced anything like that, or
if you've always just kind of beenlike kind of chill with yourself. But
what's been your your experience like inthat way? Can you say it again?

(01:09:16):
Um? I guess, like,do you find that there are certain
insecurities that come with being naturally thinthat you experienced that other people might not
consider? Oh yeah, not reallyso much now. But when I was
in middle school, like my earlymiddle school years, I would get bullied

(01:09:38):
a little bit, not a lot, but I'd one of the things I'd
get bullied about, or people wouldsay, would be that I'm like that
I was anarexic, even though beinglike between one hundred and ten and one
hundred and twenty five pounds when you'refive to seven is totally normal and like
it's a healthy way. So thatwas That's the only thing I've ever faced

(01:10:00):
about it. Nowadays, I don'tever get shamed for it or anything like
that, so I would hope notit didn't. You know, they all
everyone gets picked on for something.Yeah, when that was going on,
though, do you think it affectedyour relationship with food at all? No?
I think that's fantastic. That's good. A lot of people end up

(01:10:25):
with all kinds of eating disorders becausethere's like there's anorexia, there's overeating,
there's binging and purging. There's actuallya lot of different things that can go
on. And I guess to givethis a more useful message, Overeaters Anonymous
is a thing that exists. Haveyou ever heard of it? Yeah,
for people who haven't OA or OvereatersAnonymous. It's similar to like other anonymous

(01:10:50):
twelve step programs, but it's forpeople who struggle with their relationship with food.
I guess specifically for overeating, butI think it's a little encompassing,
like I think all eating disorders canattend. I'm not sure, but that
is something again I heard about throughKathy Griffin because she actually talks in her

(01:11:11):
biography, her memoir about starting toattend overeaters anonymous after going through extremely dangerous
liposection surgery in the nineties that almostkilled her. And if you want that
story, it's in her book. It's wildly fascinating. I highly recommend it.
But I just think it's an importantthing that people know that there.

(01:11:32):
It's think about it like this, because food can be an addiction. If
you're trying to quit alcohol, youcan just get rid of it, right
or whatever substance you cannot just stopeating like you have to continue to have
a relationship with your substance that iscausing a problem. And I think that's
why people's relationships with food can beso complicated and challenging. Do you have

(01:12:00):
any advice for anyone who and thisis not actually going to be about getting
thinner getting healthy, but what wouldyou tell someone who wants to just get
to a better place with their ownbody as far as like their personal relationship
with themselves. I guess this isn'tjust if you're gay and if you're younger,

(01:12:20):
but I would say that if you'reencountering people from a romantic standpoint or
a potential romantic standpoint, that likeare genuine and telling you that they think
that, like, you're really attractiveand you're not comfortable with your own body.

(01:12:42):
Then I would just even though it'snerve racking, or if it can
be nerve wracking or anxious, Iwould just embrace it. And even though
it might seem frightening at first,in most cases, I think it'll end
up being a good decision. Ithink that's good advice because it is kind
of what you've just touched on.It's kind of scary at first to have

(01:13:04):
self confidence, isn't it. Yeah, But again, at least for me,
it's like it gets it gets comfortablefast. Yes, it does.
I agree with that. But whenyou first start, I think the reason
it's so tough is because there's alot of again mixed messaging in society where
it's like body positivity, be confident, be you, for you. You

(01:13:27):
should believe in yourself. But ifyou believe in yourself too much, you're
a narcissist, do you know whatI'm saying. So it's like that in
and of itself is a little weird. And then when you start being like,
Okay, well maybe I do likemy hair or whatever it is you're
trying to like, there's gonna bethat societal like voice that has been pushed

(01:13:48):
into you telling you, oh,you can't like that about yourself. That
makes you conceded, that makes youa narcissist, that makes you a bad
person. And I'm here to tellyou that that is garbage. Do do
you agree with that? Yeah?Like I can't. It's like it's this
weird backwards messaging that is left overfrom previous generations. Because I've heard other

(01:14:12):
people reference these times and it waslike, especially in female culture, the
worst thing another girl could call youwas conceited for a very long time,
and that kind of I think wassort of the mainstream thing too, Like
no one wanted to be considered conceited, And there's been a big shift in
the opposite direction lately. It's justkind of a messy time because we're still

(01:14:33):
in the middle of transition. Well, there you go. We gave you
a few big things to like rollaround in your head. From this,
Sailor says, I want to addanything about it, just from I don't
think I've mentioned this before, butmost guys that I go for, I

(01:14:54):
would say ninety percent of guys thatI go for and have gotten a met
with and just pursue in general whateverare thicker than me in some way.
The only actual boyfriend I've had sofar was nearly six feet tall and like
three hundred and fifty pounds. SoI don't discriminate at all in that way.

(01:15:17):
And I think that unless it's likeI know, it's like a it
can be a hard deal breaker forsome people. But I would just be
open about it. If you're likeintentionally into gaining weight, like as a
kid, I'm not into that atall. I think a lot of people
aren't obviously, But I've just alwaysbeen more appreciative and like attracted to guys

(01:15:42):
that are that have thicker bodies.Listen, I'm right there with you.
I've been I will say I've experiencedall types of people, and to me,
it's it's more like about a vibealmost, you know what I mean.
Like I've had great experiences with veryvery thick, heavy men, and

(01:16:04):
I've had great experiences with very verythin men who probably got made fun of
in the same way you did,and terrible experience does both as well.
And that's another thing that I thinkis I hope more people talk about this,
but a lot of people's interests area lot broader than you would initially

(01:16:24):
assume when you first see them, you know what I'm saying. And I
think when you're coming from a placeof insecurity, it's common to naturally assume
someone who looks a specific way,you might quote never be interested in you,
and then you might take that feelingand then allow yourself to treat them
a certain way based on something thatyou never even spoke to them about.

(01:16:46):
Yeah, and I don't have youever seen the movie easy A. Yeah,
I always come back to that scenewith the kid and with Emma Stone
when for people who don't know, she's basically like, oh, it's like
prostitution light Like I don't know whatto call it. It's like she's not
sleeping with these guys. She's likefaking sleeping with them to make them popular.

(01:17:11):
And this heavier set guy on theswim team comes up to her and
kind of like is a little bitrude when he's trying to get her to
do the fake thing with him,And at the end of their interaction,
she's like, you know, ifyou would have just come up and talk
to me like a normal person,I might have actually just gone out with
you. And I think about thata lot because I feel like that's really

(01:17:34):
true in a lot of cases, like we build people up to be worse
than they are in our in ourbrains before we even speak to them sometimes,
you know, And what use isthat? So let's see, that's
it for this episode. Do youhave anything you want to add at the
end here for any upcoming stuff? It's exciting. Well, I'll just mention

(01:17:59):
more are of the roles that thetwo interviews I'm doing or because people will
probably know if they're anime fans, keep so um Keith Silverstein is also known
for, asides Doctor Tomo and there Dub, He's also Jean Lee and
Genshan, impact Um Shisoka and Hunter, Hunter Johan and Monster Um, Coyote

(01:18:25):
Stark and Bleach, Uh Saber andFire Emblem Um a ton of other things,
and then Eric Kimer. Besides Fishey, he's known for Reugi the protagonist
and Toro Dora Um Sonic and onePunch man Um I don't remember the name

(01:18:45):
of the character, but the leadand Astro Score the lead and Naga Toro
and Uh. He's probably most famouslyum Iguedo the Snake Pillar or Snake Kashira
and Demon Slayer. So I'll haveboth of those. Um, Keith is
at noon on Monday, and thenEric has had one on Tuesday, so

(01:19:09):
and I'll have them up the sameday most likely, like I always do
with my interviews. So you guyshave two big interviews to look forward to
this week. If you're following Chrison his YouTube channel, tell them how
to find you again. It's justall under my name Chris Mayak m a
y uk yep, and we havehis descriptions at the end of every episode

(01:19:31):
two the intro, so you guysshould know how to find him. Uh
yeah, I hope those go well. I'm sure you're prepared already, right
yeah. And the one with Keithis only supposed to be a half hour,
so but I don't I mean,I even if things are shorter,
I always approach them in the sameway anyway. Keith is the Viz Fish,
I right, Eric Eric is theEric. Yeah, Yeah, they're

(01:19:57):
both viz. Yeah. I'm socute. You're going to ask him,
are you are? I'm I'm assumingyou would Um did if he had seen
the original portrayal. Right, yeah, I'm sure tea house. Okay,
I'm curious, like what the experiencewas like voicing a character who who had
their gender changed in the past, and like if that had any any even

(01:20:18):
like influence on him at all,or if he thought about it, you
know what I mean. Yeah,Well, good luck with those. Congratulations
on your hitting your three hundred markthis month. We kind of knew that
was coming, so thanks everybody.Let him know a big congratulations in the
comments, and I guess that's it. I'll see you this week. It's
been it's been a jamboree, allright, Well you're not sure been a

(01:20:50):
long time, pretty side, huh. I can't tell you how happy we
are to finally be joined up withyou guys, Sailor Venus. I can't
believe this. Really, it's greatto be here. Are you the moon

(01:21:15):
princess we're looking for? I don'tknow. That's it for today's episode of
Moonstar, A Sailor moon Podcast. Can you believe it's been over a year

(01:21:38):
since we started the show and we'rejust now meeting Sailor Venus, Like,
come on. I kind of likethat though, because I've probably said this
before, but I think the waitingand the uncertainty of sometimes when episodes are
going to drop today's little lay sorryabout it. It sort of makes it
a little more real to the timeperiod. No, they were not randomly

(01:21:59):
delayed, like if it was supposedto be on a certain day, it
was on the TV. But therewere these huge gaps during spring breaks or
not spring break, but like winterbreak and summer break and all of these
things, and then we had towait for them to actually decide to continue
dubbing the show and all of that. So yeah, I like that it
is not something that happened instantaneously,at least not for us as we're making

(01:22:24):
the show or the listeners who've beenwith us from the beginning. Something that
I think is kind of interesting, though, is we're at the point where
the show has been out for awhile now. There are so many episodes,
and whenever, like I've said,we get a new listener, I
can see when someone does a bingeand goes back and listens to the whole
catalog, and I just find itso funny because they are experiencing something that

(01:22:46):
was so long ago for Chris andI already now like yesterday, like today,
like there's probably someone listening to oneof the first episodes right now,
and for some reason, I don'tknow why, but that just kind of
like, I just think that's reallycool. I don't have anything fancy to

(01:23:06):
say about it. I doesn't reallylike it, and I think it's neat
that the people who found us earlyon, and who are I mean,
we're still early in the show. We've got several seasons I cover, Like,
so even those of you who arefinding us now, you're going to
all have your own unique experience comingthrough this with us on the way.

(01:23:28):
And then there's going to be peoplewho find it much later, and their
experience is going to be they canbinge the show with us, and like
after they watched the episode, theycan go listen to what we said about
it and just go all the waythrough, which is what I have.
It's like kind of the long termintension of the show is to be a
companion like that. And I don'tknow, I'm just I had a birthday

(01:23:53):
recently, so I've been reflecting overthe past year, you know, and
and it's really been fantastic. Ican't think of a better year that I've
had in a very long time, and it's largely in thanks to the show,
so and thanks to all of youguys for being incredibly supportive listeners.
So I appreciate you so much. You know that. But yeah, I
don't know. I just had totake a moment and share some of how

(01:24:15):
I'm feeling with you guys about thestate of where we are because I felt
like a special episode, So whynot, right, it's a special time.
Serena's birthday is a few days awayand close to mine. I don't
know. I think I'll leave thatconversation there. Oh jeez, I probably
should have done this first, butI have to take a moment and correct
a very large mistake I remained duringmy rating of this episode. I forgot

(01:24:39):
to take into account the most importantmoment from the deep dub, which is
Zoisite's incredible scout jamboree line. Thatis enough for me to give this a
full bonus star just based on thatalone. So it's going to take my
rating up from a two point fivetwo or three point five. I know
that's controversy, shoal, but like, there's not much I can do about

(01:25:02):
it when the word jamboree is involved. I hope. I'm sure you can
understand. So I mean, ifyou have a problem with it, take
it up with voice site. Iguess I don't know. And then I
got to remind you about these projectswe got going on. So auditions for
Sailor Moon Another Story the series arestill rolling. Several of the main characters
are still available. Please check usout on Casting Call Club just search for

(01:25:26):
the project by the title Sailor MoonAnother Story the Series. Additionally, Project
Guide in Card is casting voice actorsfor a series of tutorial videos that are
going to be released alongside the SailorMoon collectible card game twenty twenty three revival,
which is being put together with atwo person team at the moment,
that being myself and Daniel Price theSailor Moon Forums. He's an artist and

(01:25:50):
animator and he's incredibly talented. SoI hope you guys will check out those
that project and submit your auditions tohelp give some that or brings some life
to the videos we're going to make, you know, to share with all
of you guys. Just a coupleof things. Let you know, you
probably heard rumblings about it, butthe Pride Special is going to be dropped

(01:26:11):
on June thirtieth, and we willcover in the special itself why we chose
that date other than being Sailor Moon'sbirthday. And additionally, the first ever
Moonstar Spotlight, is going to bereleased very soon. The exact date is
to be announced. I might doa fourth of July drop on that.
I like that. It would like, you know, in the whole Independence

(01:26:33):
Day thing. I don't know offto see, but it's coming soon,
so you can look forward to that. And as you can hear by the
song selection here, I'm all aboutthe Super Mario RPG switch. I don't
know, glow Up remake. It'slike the same game, but like better

(01:26:54):
graphics. I don't know what they'redoing exactly with it, but I'm so
happy. I can't even begin totell you. Because of what I described
on the show today, and wehad very very long ago, the entire
fandom who loved that game had settledinto and accepted the idea that because of
the issues between the two companies,we were never ever going to get something

(01:27:16):
like this. There was never goingto be a sequel, there was never
going to be a port or whatever. I don't know the legalities or what
happened that allowed for this remake portwhatever is going on to happen. But
I'm hoping that it also opened thedoor to official sequels to this game,

(01:27:39):
because that would be the ultimate reward, Like getting this is enough for me.
Like, honestly, if they don'tdo us an official sequel, I'm
still so happy with this. Butit just feels like it opens the door
to so many additional possibilities, officialsoundtrack releases, you never know, like
just all kinds of interesting things cancome from this. So if you are

(01:28:00):
someone else who loves Sailor or SailorSuper Mario RPG as much as I do,
please go off in the comments.I really want to see you guys
just like have a ball over it, because honestly, second to when Sailor
Moon got its first, like theSailor Moon Crystal Revival was so freaking exciting

(01:28:25):
on a very similar level, youknow what I mean. I gotta say
that's probably the last time I feltthis excited about new anything coming out in
a very long time. So yeah, if you haven't seen it, even
if you're not like a Mario fan, if you just like RPGs, I
promise you you will love this game. Go watch the Nintendo direct if you

(01:28:48):
have access to the original game. It's for Super Nintendo. Highly recommend it.
Please go play it. There's noreason to wait till November. I
mean it looks like it's going tobe basically the same, So yeah,
just I'm so excited. All right, we got to end the show for
real plugs. As always, MoonstarSailor Moon Podcast is brought to you a
