He's been on every day and show that ESPN has, well,
it's a big day. This is where I don't know
(00:24):

How does this work? All right?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
So he joins us now, Adam Schefter, welcome to Second

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, it's good to be on second take with you.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Brett vic Mark back for another season.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Here we go. The madness never ends and the moves
are flying in right now.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Yeah, and we'll I'll obviously allow you to get to
your phone if you need it. But of all the
cuts that have taken place this morning, one stand out
is the biggest surprise to you, Adam.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
You know, Vig, I don't know that there's anybody that's
a surprised on this day. Like, there are all sorts
of names that you hear about that you think about, Like.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Some interesting names.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
They're more interesting than they are surprising, right Like Tommy
DeVito Giants quarterback. Interesting, Deontay Johnson, Brown's receiver who a
couple of years ago was on top of the world
as a receiver. Interesting, Greg doll sixty former Broncos Giants
tight end, Little Jordan Humphrey former Broncos now Giants receiver
(01:26):
players like that, right like kJ Osborne just released by
the commanders here.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
You know, names like that. That's what we're talking about
right now. Now.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
There might be a surprise at some point today. I
don't think there's anything surprising, but it's all interesting, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
On top of that, Adam, we're trying to pay attention
to the Broncos and what's happening there. But we always
got an eye on the Chador situation. I'm sure you've
talked about it a ton already. But what do you
think the future after this preseason looks like? Is he
just the third guy on the depth chart and they're
just gonna let him in Dylan Gabriel Battle of Doubt
or what?
Speaker 3 (01:59):
And it looks like.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
He's the round pick as a quarterback, he's gonna be
kept on the fifty three man roster and they'll have
a chance to develop.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Like that's what it looks like right now, which is
completely normal.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
I know, I know they talk about it on first
take and now on second take here, but in fact,
you know, he garners a lot of conversation, a lot
of attention, but it's pretty typical.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
It's pretty normal. What is happening with a fifth round
rookie quarterback who's.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
On a roster have Can you, in your entire time
covering the NFL think about a fifth round pick that's
been talked about more than you door Sanders.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Not initially as a rookie y although you know, oh
we just got a little bit of breaking news, so
hold on, do you think.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
We'll talk amongst ourselves?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
We will.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
So when he gets breaking news, so after.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
You tweet it or you allowed to tell us what
you're tweeting afterwards.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
So he's trying to.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Go, I'm gonna have it cute up and then we're
gonna talk to him.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Yet right now, can you say something about me in
the in the time that Brett Kane predicted this big time.
He knew this was coming a mile away.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
What do you guys listen, I would say, right now,
so far this would be the biggest news of the day.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Okay, hold on, can we guess?
Speaker 6 (03:16):
Don't tell us where you care? What team?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
What team?
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Tennessee, Tennessee. Alright, let's see here.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
I'm gonna I'm gonna read.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Oh wait wait I think I no, no, well.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
He hasn't tweeted it yet. It's not out yet. I
got Dylan Cook from the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
That's about it, hand hand hand.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Something to do with Simmons released.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
What is interesting about Tennessee?
Speaker 6 (03:43):
I don't know because smoke him?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yeah, Calvin really now it's now out?
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Okay, okay, all right, hit us, hit us.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
What is we're about to see it? He just tweeted it.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Is see football wor all the it's big? Okay, right football?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Tajy Spears going on ir Okay, Yeah, So so that
means that, you know, Tony Poller is the one guy
there now is the last man standing?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Wow? So that that interesting odd.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
Re estimate the Tennessee booking.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
You know you're you're a fantasy nerd, aren't you, Adam?
You like fantasy a lot.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I love fantasy.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
You're really good at your job, because when you said
this is breaking news and big, that resonates like one
out of ten for me to be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
But you know what, you know what, Vig, I'll bet
you don't play fantacy football.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
You're exactly right.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I'm your guy for that, Adam.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
He'll always say he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Mark you play f Brent, Mark, you play fancy football.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
I don't anymore, Adam, because when I'm in Montreal on
a Thursday night forget to set my lineup, I get
screwed and I end up losing.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
The guy's on a bye and it just it stinks. Hey,
I got a question for you about these holdings. I mean,
you've got a couple that are done. The McLaurin thing
was big, The Hendrickson thing was obviously big. And he
just gets fourteen million more dollars and he's right back
where he started. I guess when he turns thirty one.
But my goodness, this Michael Parsons thing has been excruciating
(05:10):
for everybody involved. Can it get done? I mean, because
if it does, it's it's gotta be like right now.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Well, here's what I said, everybody. I really thought that
Trey Hendrickson the Bengals were a world apart, and I
really thought Terry McLaurin and the Commanders were a world apart,
and they all were, and both of those deals got done.
So if you're Michah Parsons and the Cowboys, that's what
you take some hope in that, even though the two
worlds are miles apart, even though the two sides aren't talking,
(05:38):
even though the Cowboys haven't offered Micah a deal since
late March early April, even though Micah has issued a
public trade request, even though Micah hasn't practiced this summer,
even though Mike is back, is still tight, even though
people are telling me this is Jerry Jones Waterloo, even
though the two sides don't like each other.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Even though they're not close to them, even though all that.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Is going on, the season is getting close, and so
sometimes deals get done.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
But I don't feel that right now with this one.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Now Again, McLaurin and Henderson changed within twenty four hours,
and they picked up a lot of momentum, and that
could happen at any point here with Micah at any point.
But again, nothing going on there right now.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Nothing.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
We were just talking about quarterback situations across the league,
especially for some vets. How short or long is the
leash for Russell Wilson in New York, considering Jackson Dark
played so well in the preseason, you.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Know, I think it doesn't matter how long it is today.
I think it'll be dictated by what Russell Wilson does
during the regular season. If he's playing well and they're
winning games, he's going to keep playing. If he's struggling
and they're not winning. We saw what Jackson Dark can
do in the preseason. He played very well. There are
people in New York who who were anxious to see him,
(06:59):
and at some point we may see him. But right
now it's Russell's job and it's up to him to
keep it or to lose it.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Yesterday, the Broncos did make one cut. Adric Estime running
back was let go, and not many people surprised here.
I guess from his resume and what he can do.
Will he find another team pretty quickly? Will you be
surprised if he lands somewhere.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
I could see him being claimed on waivers.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
I could see that happening, but there aren't that many
teams that need running backs, so I think it's just
as likely not other question, that he could be a practice.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Squad interesting candidate. So we'll see how that works out, right,
you know, that's uh, But I think he could get claimed,
but I think he'll be a practice squad candidate.
Speaker 6 (07:47):
Also, I just see all these moves going down in
the last couple of days, like Amari Cooper back to
the Raiders, the Raiders trade for Kenny Pickett because an'connell
is out. Is this, I guess, Adam, is this a
normal thing to have these guys you know going you
know going places late this you know this late in
the in the process before the season begins.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Well, I think that what you're seeing is teams are
always adjusting their rosters at this time before the regular
season begins, at final cutdown days. Where I think there's
been a shift in the last few years is instead
of teams cutting guys now bottom and the roster, you've
seeing them traded for seventh round picks in twenty seven, yeah,
twenty eight, yep.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Pick lips. So teams know that this team's going to
be cutting them.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Okay, we'd like them, rather than us losing him on
waivers to the Titans who have the first waiver claim.
We'll flip picks with you and we'll get that guy.
So you've seen a lot of that right now. I
think that's the biggest difference.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Hey, anam over in LA because you're a fantasy nerd.
This would mean a lot to a lot of the
fantasy people out there. How much do you trust that
Matthew Stafford's actually okay? I think you can get through
the season, all right.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Uh, well, he's gonna be out there opening day and
they think he's gonna.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Be okay, but it's a back and backs are tricky.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
But you know he's also gonna be I would imagine
doing what he can on game day to alleviate that
pain and soften some of that for a few hours
each Sunday. So look, all I could say is I'm
confident he's gonna go out there and put himself in
a position to play.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Is he gonna hold up the full year?
Speaker 2 (09:27):
I don't know, but he's gonna do what he can
be out and he's extraordinarily tough and he doesn't miss
a lot of games, So I think I'm not counting
on it, but I would suspect he's gonna play more
games than he's not.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Adam, have you had a chance to read Seth Wickersham's
book yet, The Kings. I just finished yet, Oh my god,
it's outstanding. There's a chapter in there where he talks
to Sean Payton. Sean Payton has this, He comes up
with this calculated theorem on how to draft quarterbacks, what
he looks for in quarterbacks, and that's how he ended
up with bow Nicks sophomore season for Bo, Uh, do
(10:00):
you think he can exceed what he did as a
rookie or is it going to be tough on him?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
I know, I think he could exceed what he's what
he did is rookie. I think he'll be that much strong.
He's he takes it very seriously. He's a worker, He's
dedicated to it. You know, people will have the book
on him, they'll be able to figure him out a
little bit. But no, I feel confident saying Bo, you know,
should continue to improve.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
You know, it's not hard to see though that a
lot of people are on the Denver Broncos right now
at them. I mean a lot of people on Yeah,
a lot, and I think for good reason, because the
defense is going to be killer. They've they've upgraded the offense,
there's no doubt about it. But how much of that
is just people being optimistic and jumping on the Cinderella bandwagon.
How much of it do when you look from the
(10:40):
outside in is legit? These guys can contend for the
AFC West.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Well, they have the ingredients, they have a defense, they
have a quarterback. We think they're going to be able
to run the football. So yeah, I mean, I think
they they're gonna be able to compete and contend.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
You know, it doesn't mean they.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Will, but I think they have the type of team
that is going to be in position. I like where
they're at. We'll see how it works out. Good team
as sending team, They're right, you know a lot of
good players, no reason they can't have a successful season.

Love where you Bank, CCU helping Coloradans achieve their financial goals.
Visit CCU dot org to learn more. Just to point
a clarification, Adam, when the Broncos traded Von Vle to
the New Orleans Saints was for the fourth and a
seventh round pick. Two things, there was rumors that multiple
(11:36):
teams were in on that. Do you know who those
teams were? First of all? Second of all, which fourth
round pick is it? Is it the Saints because I
believe they hold two. Is it the Saints pick or
the other fourth round pick?
Speaker 2 (11:48):
I don't know which fourth I know that another team
in on it was the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm sure the
Vikings made some calls as well, but the Broncos had
a lot of interest. And in the end, obviously Sean
has a relationship with the Saints people, yep. And and
so they can do what they're gonna do and go
from there. And that's what happened. They trade him to
(12:09):
the Saints.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Adam Schefter again with us as he will be every
week moving forward. Now, happy to have you back at him.
One more thing. We were talking about this with Aaron
Rodgers in Pittsburgh. What Aaron Rodgers has left? And I
know it's the old thing with Mike Tomin He's never
had a losing season, Like, is this a team Denver
should be worried about? Stealing a wild card spot.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Well, I definitely think they're capable of doing that. They
seem to do that every year. They've lost their last
six playoff games. They're always competing, they're always tough, they're
always good, but they're never good enough or not recent years,
to go win a playoff game.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
And so I am I worried about them from the Bronckers.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
No, but I do think Aaron Rodgers has a point
to prove after the last year year.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I think he has a chip on his shoulder.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
I think he's not ready to have his career and
the way that it did last season, though he played
better in New York than I think people realize.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
I think he was pretty.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Good last year and people are forgetting that. And now
he comes in even more motivated on a better team
with great coaching, and I think he I think he's
gonna play well.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
I'm mister home office, by the way, So how many
phones do you have in front of you right now?
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I'm in a hotel room in New York City, and
I'm about to head out of here to go home
to go do NFL Live this after and just track
all these boots and see what trades are being made.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Yeah, I could tell you're still wearing your makeup because
your lips look full.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
What what?
Speaker 2 (13:41):
What was my lip? How are my lips looking full?
What would that have anything to do with wearing makeup?
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Well, Adam, I know because I'm in the television business.
I know when makeup is worn. You just got out
of set, got off studios. So your lips look nice.
I'm just giving you a compliment, nice plump.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
That I agree, But I'm just curious, Like, they don't
touch your lips in makeup, so like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
But they paint around the lips. They paint around them
and more pronounced, more pronounced, lips look good.
Speaker 6 (14:08):
And I'm gonna be honest with you, Adam. I do
my own makeup. Vic does his own makeup. We don't
look as good as my lips are never there. We're
never We're never that plump man. We're never Barbara, Barbara
Hershey and beaches.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
We're not like that. You know what.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
When I'm at home, we're not TV from home, I
never put on any makeup. But when you're in the
city and they're you know, everything's there, like okay, you
get some get some powder and Samantha, shine on you.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Right.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Last thing, Adam, this is a great thing from a textree.
He said, you nailed the Broncos win total last year,
So what is it this year?
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Did I get it exactly?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I think you said you you said they're gonna win
around ten.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Games this year. What is the over under for them
this year?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
I think it's nine.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
I thought it was nine and a half.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
And you don't have to answer.
Speaker 6 (14:53):
We can answer this next.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
And I've exceeded their win total and they did easily.
And I've exceeded their win total and they did easily,
and I feel good about them. But I think it's
just it's a tough schedule. It's a tough conference, tough division,
tough everything. I believe in the team, but it's just
(15:16):
some tough circumstances. So we'll see how that plays out.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
And I'll give you a totally next next Wes Day.
We have that to look forward to.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
All right, let's do it, Adam, get back on that phone.
Always appreciate your time, buddy, Thanks so much.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
All right, guys, I appreciate it. Thank you very much.
Shout great day, Adam.
Speaker 1 (15:31):

Speaker 3 (15:34):

Speaker 4 (15:34):
We're gonna call this second second take shift.
Speaker 3 (15:36):

Speaker 6 (15:37):
This is a brain damage day for him though. I
mean he is on that phone like crazy.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Yep.
