Welcome to another episode on Murder Ballads from Quiet-Please. Today we will turn our attention to the classic murder ballad "Banks of the Ohio" which tells the story of a young woman who is murdered by her lover. The song is set in the American Midwest in the early 19th century, and it is thought to be based on a real-life event. The song begins with the young woman and her lover meeting on the banks of the Ohio River. The lover promises to take the young woman away and marry her, but he betrays her and murders her instead. The young woman's body is then thrown into the river.
