Speaker 3 (03:04):
Man, it's a it's a tight night on tonight. Basically
this is I'm basically out of the studio tonight. This
is my second time I ever did this before. I
actually I'm doing it at my uh brother's house at
(03:24):
this time, so I'm out of the studio. I'm now
I'm at one of my other brothers. I'm excited at that.
So it's ah ah, you know, have you ever done
that before? Done? Done? Done a session away from home?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Man, I'm doing it right now at this moment.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Awesome. I understand, I understand, I understand, bro. But before
we get into this session, last week, we were so
hot and uh uh uh on this music trend. You know,
we we forgot to say, uh shouts out to my
our engineer Jerry Royce Live on Positive Power Jerry Royce.
(04:13):
If it wasn't for him, you know, we wouldn't have this, uh,
this platform, you know, So thank you mentor for providing
this platform and the airways for us to uh, you know,
reach all over the world. And I thank you for that.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Jury all right, yes, sir, much love to mister Jerry Royse.
Thank you for the opportunity uh explore you know, this
this radio, this this radios and network and the resources
of this reaching all the people. Opportunity just to express,
(04:53):
you know, what we feel and how we feel about
you know, gifts that God gave us from the beginning,
and uh just to have this platform to let people
know how we feel and share what we love about it. Man,
I really appreciate that. So listen, Jerry Royd.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yeah, thank you for that. Yes, yes sir, yes sir.
So I'm gonna start off with uh my my uh my,
uh six, excuse me, I'm messing with you.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Man, Man, Man Teter. People, tell the paper what we're
doing tonight, Man, tell.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Them, huh huh, tell the people what we're.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Doing to night.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Well, Actually, we're gonna we're gonna have a lot of
musicians out here. We we we actually be hitting the musicians,
and we're gonna be hitting them very hard instead of
the songs. We're gonna be hitting them very hard. You know,
there's a lot of musicians that out that's out there,
that's in this world, that that that you know, they
(05:53):
are doing them you know, you know, the same thing
we are doing right now you speak, speaking speak, basically
speaking to the world and playing over the world, you know,
and they never being appreciated, you know. You know, so
we appreciate your musicians on tonight. You know, that's an
(06:14):
awesome thing for tonight, you know.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yes, sir, And that's the best thing about this opportunity
here Atlanta is that, you know, the musicians ahead of
us make us who we are today. Honestly, man, you know,
there's definitely there's definitely things that I hold myself accounted
before that I was shown and talked as a youngster,
(06:43):
you know, from people that were respected in the game.
And not just that, but even man, just my character
of of you know, everybody's not superstars. The superstars are
really man the ones that's right there growing with you,
showing you how to get there. That's a superstar being
able to do this thing and this time timeline. The
(07:05):
superstar is the one that's right the next day. So
Accolai too. You know, you're the people that's in front
of you. Man, when when you're learning the craft, you know,
so overall, man, it's it's wonderful the highest platform. Like
I said, man to be acknowledge the ones, but man,
jump in there, Man, go ahead and tell us what
you've got.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Good bro, you know, you know I'm gonna, you know,
start it off with you know, one of the young ladies.
You know, she she always you know, if she's not
on them keys, she's like like we seeing we speak.
She's always speaking the word of truth to the world
(07:47):
in the community. I'm giving a shout out to number
ten treating Trina Trean. She she's one of the baddest
keyboards that I know on this earth. Do you understand
(08:07):
Sreena treen You know she is one of the baddest
keyboards and the organist players that I know on this earth.
You know, she she like one of the organists or
the musicians that basically you know how you know Herbie Hancock,
you know when he plays, you know, he's one of
(08:29):
the ones that speaks why he's playing music. You understand,
you you understand why I'm saying that screena Tree is
one of the ones that can do the same things.
She can sing and speak at the same time. Yeah,
(08:51):
what I'm talking about is she's doing those those minor chords,
those major chords A flat B flat uh shee uh
d you know she's doing all of those cours. She
she could do that. She's basically one of the one
(09:20):
of the Flox sisters Clinky Clark. Oh yes, man, do
you understand what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (09:30):
She she's like basically another She's another Twinky Quinky Clark.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
So after the show, after this show, look her up
if you haven't looked her up yet. Tree in a
Tree she goes, Yes, a tree, she goes with She
she does the Words of Wisdom every week. And you
know she's she's awesome and a dynamic musician.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Of our time, right, nice train the train.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Tam Okay another another number nine, number nine? You ready
for number nine? Dominic Johnson the same person. Uh, she
does the same things. Uh she s can she can
(10:32):
seek a seing and play the clothes just have you
like shivering. You know you understand what I'm saying. You
could you could tell when I'm when you could you
come across a musician that plays and they have that anointing.
(10:55):
These two musicians are that person.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Yeah, wow man.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Dominic joints and she she has matter of fact, she
has a lot of a lot of singles out. She
has a lot of uh you look her up on YouTube,
Dominique Johnson. She has a lot of videos. That's that's
out of these worlds. And that's that you know, you
can you know follow on you know, Dominique Johnson and
(11:28):
her kids are coming up to the same way.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Okay, Yeah, how does she what what you know about?
What you know about what area of what areas? He
is as far as into the music, like you know
what areas she is, she's like eighties nineties.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Like this. She can play anything. She can play any
things you can play from both of them. They can
play from Walter Hawkins up to up to our our
era right now, right So Walter Hawkins carrying the Twink,
(12:19):
the the Park Sisters, all that that music they can
all that music they can they can play. They can
play that right now. That's why I'm naming them, So
look them up. Number eight, he's gonna be at the
(12:42):
festival this year. Duke Senior, this young man. I've been
following him since he was a little, little, little little
baby and he's basically he's a beast on them drums.
Have you heard of him before?
Speaker 4 (13:03):
What's his name?
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Duke senor.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Luke Duke like Hasard Duke Duke.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Yes, no, I have a white because he has a
he has a junior coming up. So he had to
have a junior coming up. My nephew, he's, uh, what's it?
Speaker 4 (13:30):
What's his last name?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Let me see, ah, let me let's go into the litten,
let's finish the show, because uh, it's it's right on
the tip of my tongue and it starts with an M,
and I don't want to mess it up. Yeah, I'm
saying what I'm saying. So, but what I'm saying, Duke Senior.
(14:01):
As soon as you start George, I will uh get
it for you. And he as far as a drumming, drumming,
he basically taught himself. But this young man, he's one
of them cats that don't mind playing anything from hard
(14:25):
rock to the rhythm and blues, jazz, mum huh funk
to gospel, you name it. Anywhere around the state of
(14:46):
Nevada or out of Arizona. He's there because he's always
getting the call, you know. That's that's what we're always
talking about. If you're learning your craft and you know
your craft, you you're definitely gonna get that call.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah. And he's one of the ones. He's one of
the drummers around this this this city that's well known,
and I'm really glad to have him in our organization.
He's been with us for quite some time to night
all right, number seven. Remember I told you about Daryl
(15:27):
wood Folk. Yeah, Daryl woo Folk. He's my my other mentor. Like, say,
for instance, if I have an issue like far as
with music or situations that I need to talk to,
(15:50):
like if I'm going through issues with these so called
saints around here. Yeah, excuse my friends, but you understand
what I'm saying. They call them saints. But but then
(16:12):
when uh they're not in front of you, they're talking
around you, talking about you and your your You understand
what I'm saying. So, uh, he's one of the ones
that I can you know, go to and talk to
and you know, not have any issue or any problems
(16:37):
of any any uh any anything coming back to me.
That's basically what I'm saying. Just like I can go
to Jerry, I can go to Daryl Woolfolk the same way,
just and I can go to Tyler the same way.
It's only three people I could do that with Daryl, Jerry, Tyler.
(17:03):
That's it. And they're all engineers in my life. That's
Isn't that a trip?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
That's the true?
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Man, that's a beautiful things though, you know, because they
they are they are valuable to you, Yes, you know,
and you're and every then you're valuable to them. Say
shure for you like that?
Speaker 3 (17:33):
You Yeah, that's his definitely, Yeah. Yeah. My last one
is Phil Collins. Phil Collins, he's liven. I mean, he's
a legend. Uh, that's out of this world. Uh.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
He's the one that played that song where me that.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Song shout shout let it all out.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
All right, right, I'm I'm a very very very familiar
fan Phil Colors. Yeah, yeah, so I know.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
That's you know, he's one of the ones that uh,
you know that you know, capped my ear when I
was coming up as a kid. You know, with that,
you know that do do do do do do do
do do? I still could do that.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
I still could do it.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
I still can do it.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Yeah, Phil, uh drums and I'm inspired by him in
a lot of ways. Uh still kind is about this
drummer that says as well. So uh, in my earlier days,
I was passing hand you know, so man shout out
(19:00):
to see kind of much love. Yeah, so.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Bro, it's your turn. Bro, man, it's my time already.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
Huh already. Man. I know you got a list that
I gave you, but uh, man, I have to really
re evaluate a couple of things, man, because I do
have a I got I gotta iff of just once.
So if I have to take one away, I'll do that.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
No, no, no, keep your list, keep your list. Already
already sent it to them.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Okay, I'll keep my list. Keep your list. I'll do that.
But in the midst of keeping my list, I gotta
definitely keep up first man and say, uh, this guy
was one of the guys to change the game in
gospel drama. Uh, one of these first uh through inspired
(20:07):
drummers that around the world Uh to like groove and
play pocket and and uh and play big. You know,
his sound was very, very big.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
So uh.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
And I'm talking about this, said Eric Morgan. Okay, drummer,
he was the these first drummers for Kurt Franklin. So
when it was Eric Morgan, Bobby Sparks, Oregon Keys, Jerome
Allen on bass, the guitar, you know, yeah, like in
(20:46):
those days when it was like but uh yeah, Eric
Morgan all the records that that that made Kirk Franklin
who he is today. Eric Morgan is the drummer on
the Wow.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
And is he still playing for Is he still playing
for him right now? No, he don't play for him now.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Uh. If I'm not mistaken, it's Terry Baker is the
drummer for Kurt right now.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Yeah, Terry Baker is the Grammy and the Grammy win,
Grammy winner and the still Award winner. Am I right?
Speaker 4 (21:24):
That's correct?
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Yeah, he's he's I've seen him on that uh tiny
desk oh my goodness.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
I was like, wow, yeah, man, Terry Baker is amazing too. Man.
He's he's a beast man. He's here, he's here in
my city, he's here in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
I got to meet him.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
I got to meet him. Terry Banker is amazing man. Uh.
He's another one that as far as everybody here, okay, man,
but let me go down my list.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Oh take your turn.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Another drummer that changed the game for me is and
gospel music, and not just gospel but across the world.
When it comes to uh funky funky groove. Uh, I
could in nice steals, uh turnovers, turn around to go
to like the next phases of the songs. The one
(22:24):
who started that the most for me was mister Joel Smith. Uh. Yes, no,
but definitely mister Joel Smith. That's why, you know, that's
one of my one of my first representations of drumming.
When you know, I was introduced to uh playing drums
(22:47):
at church and learning music.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Uh, it was songs with.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Him playing playing drums and then I saw him playing bass,
you know, So that was just more of an inspiration man.
But uh, outside of outside of those two, I have
mister Dennis Chambers and I don't have to I don't
(23:15):
have to eat it begin to speak. I mean, everything
about Dennis Chambers was me. Uh. I learned Dennis Tambers
so much to where, like I said, man on the
last show, a guy named from window Man shout out
to from He pulled me in and taught me how
to work, and I traded in some chops for some procket.
(23:36):
But you know Dennis had that as well. But being
young and inspired by all the flashy stuff, that's the
stuff I was learning. So you know, I developed a
lot from Dennis Timbers them stuffs. But I mean, you,
I'm pretty sure there's not a drummer in this world
that ain't picked up something from Dennis Chambers.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Bro, you're right, You're right.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
You know so there, I mean, because he's on things
that you don't even think that he's played on. A
lot of people know about the Parliament Man, but Dennis
has so much work out there. You know, people don't
even know the shoot. Oh yeah, so Dennis Man and
my next guy man is one of their hometown homeies,
(24:21):
mister Robert spot see Wright himself. Robert is a game
changer to the whole drumming community. I believe he's changed
the game of drumming across the whole world. Once he's
been seen and recognized. He inspired people to do things,
(24:45):
not even just as far as their plan wise, but
he I believe his plan inspires a lot of people
to pay better. But not just that man. He's respected
by all his companies that he's endorsed with. Thomas started
making a drum kit specifically like the spectacular Sput has
(25:06):
a drum kit from Thomas College, Sput Tackler kit. You know,
and when you inspire a company that's been around for
ages and has done everything like once again, you know
sut what with Toto or his last run. He's got
his own band out called ghost Notes. If you haven't
heard of ghost Notes, man, you should take an opportunity
(25:27):
just to google and see what's going on with those guys.
Like those notes is ridiculous. I heard, I heard, yeah, yeah,
And all of those guys you know work work with
high end people or and they come from that and
(25:48):
still do it currently. You know, they come together and
make their own sound. So I mean sput Robert s
Fussy right man, uh, one of one of my tops.
And then right behind that man have to say, Calvin Rodgers,
another guy changes the game uh to not just God
(26:08):
for music, but to R and B to.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
The protest drumming.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
He's inspired people, and you hear a lot of people
try to sound like Kavin, because Kevin's just he's he's
got a mind that's bigger than one genius. It's like
four or five genius is living inside of his mind because.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
He knows the right gear to use for the right records.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
He knows exactly what to play on the records and
lives no you know, like Calvin. Uh, he's been like
that since young. I remember when he first played on
Ricky Dillon's record, uh back in the day before playing
uh before playing uh with uh with but uh, I know,
(26:55):
way before the way before then. Man, I'm talking about
the church stuff like he was playing with Milton, is
it Milton Bronson?
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Yeah, So, I mean, you know, I've been listening to
him since he was a little kid when he could
barely touch the peller.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
He was killing.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
So like you know, Calvin Rogers, he's he changed the
game and drumming, so you know, shut out to Calvin
as well.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
He got his own style of music. That's the one
thing I like about Calvin.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Well Calvin and I have to say this about Calvins,
but both of those guys are not just drummers. They
are really like they're they're very everybody their musical. They
hear everything, they hear everybody's part. And I have that
as well, Like I every Friday's part. And I can
(27:48):
hear what's supposed to be there when it's right, and
I can hear what's supposed to be there when it's wrong.
I can point it out and keep going and not
make it noticeable. I can leave you where you need
to be at next.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
You know.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
You know, God just gave me that gifts.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
And I've been like that.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Uh even for some of the best bands that I've
traveled around the world, bro, I have I've had to
give cues for what's happening next because yeah, yes, sir,
and you know it's not it's not it's not like
being considered that gives me. Yeah, you know, and it's
(28:24):
like for me, I do what it takes to.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Make the whole fourth move forward.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
You know, we all got to go forward and go higher.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
You know.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
So if I if I God's giving me this information
to be able to share it then I want to
share it, you know.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah that's true.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
But yeah, man, so okay, So my next one, man,
I gotta let you know, all right, my next is
gonna be.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Hard Mason.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
I gotta check this out and see if he's kin
to me, you know what.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
So, Harry Mason, you are you familiar with the jazz
band called four Play?
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Yes, yes, sir, okay, So.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
Harvey Mason always played high head patterns that were not
for four and so I would those. I would develop
that to figure out how to how to work with
my wrists, you know, to do trimplets instead of singles
and quarter notes before even like being in band or
(29:46):
anything like that. In school, I was listening to like
the four Play, those four Play records, bro.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
And so.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
I also found out that Vic Firk himself was Harvey
Mason's drum teacher.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Wow, that is a means and Vic Firk for real?
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Yeah, d vi Firk was Harvey Mason's drum teacher. So
the owner of the stick company, yes, mister himself. Wow, Yes, amazing.
(30:30):
I gotta I got an interview that I said that
I kept. I'll share with you. I'll share with you,
you know, once we get off of this station. I'll
send it to you so that you can have it.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
But yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
That's amazing, man, Okay, so I gotta give one more.
My last guy is gonna be hands down number one,
Chris Daddy Days. Chris is the drummer from uh he well,
(31:08):
his his hype comes from from Houston. I believe Chris
is from somewhere else, but I think it's from New
York honestly, but he he uh, his hype comes from
New York, from Houston, he played.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
So when I come, when I come to Texas, some
that means I'm gonna have to just look you up
and just have you to just take me to some places. Then, man,
bro Hey, it's it's so much.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
It's so much like these names that you're getting are
just people that.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Are like the.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
The I can't say that the authors others, but people
that inspire other people to push. Man, you come to
my city. Now you're gonna see so much stuff that
it's just so many people. There's Marcus Jones, there's uh,
there's uh as Well, there's Goodness, there's uh, Mike Mintel.
(32:08):
I mean, there's Cleon Edwards, you know, and like these
are these and they have protegees under them, like they
are people that that that mimic them and go beyond
like I've had that, Like those guys like Cleon Uh
and Teyron Locke, Like those guys are the guys that
(32:30):
I was picking up and bringing to Shaid and you
know and taking them home and were hanging out and
putting in that time. And now, so those guys are
protegees to what we were doing when when I was
you know, I was inspiration what they were doing. It's
stuff that they do right now that I know that
we were doing when we were you know, when they
(32:52):
were in my company, you know. But we've traded we've
traded stuff out for years, his brother to where like
just the Dallas community. We got things that we have
that come out for each other.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Bro.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
And you can see that in our drummer. I don't
care who it is, even JD. You know JD is
uh he uh, he's like with Anderson Pat.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Yes, yeah, little j D. Okay, look I heard the
little JD. My nephew name is a D.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
His name is a Dari him and j D they
said together from kids on the I got videos I'm
gonna send them to you, man. And now Darien is
he graduated from school and now he's playing with everybody.
He graduated high school, went straight on tour with Barbis Spurts.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
You know, so like high school, straight from high school.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
He graduated. He graduated that Sunday and he was on

The nat Hey Senior, Senior senior. He's the drummer that
plays always he always, I mean, excuse me, not the drummer,

probably can play some drums too. I noticed most keyboarders

is or most organists, they are keyboard I mean drummers. First,
you know, understand what I'm saying, so he can. He's
a mean keyboardist and a mean organist. Now he can
he can play. He can play a keyboard. Oh my goodness.
(35:23):
He's like one of my favorite keyboardists that I know
that's out in the La La area, besides Mike Burrell.
So because they both they both are together on the
(35:43):
Nord stream. You know what I'm saying.
