Oh yeah, yeah, I'll definitely be there August August the
ninth in Vegas. I'm looking forward to it. This will
be like my first official drum clinic as far as
like being a part of. And I'm super excited to
be a part of the legacy of this drum clinic
(02:49):
because it's been going on for a while. So just
to get an invitation and just being able to play
and sit down with all these other musicians and drummers
and and to peel back, you know, will feel some
things from them and hopefully I can help them, you know,
for information wise and and everything else like that. So
I'm super excited and grateful for the opportunity, man, honestly, honestly,
(03:11):
And then I'm gonna try to fight some drums just
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
What you said it like that, You're gonna try to
play some drugs, bro, I.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Won't try, man, Yeah you got some. Yeah, you got
some young hitters.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Man, you got some. You got some hitters.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
So I'm just gonna play a little bit, you know,
and sit back and just just watch the young people go. Man.
And man, I'm trying to get some information from them,
you know. I'm like, hey, take up a couple of
legs here and there, and yeah, she'd be fun.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, it's gonna be a dynamic situation. It's gonna be
uh uh Duke Senor Pete Tillen, Philip Butler. We're gonna
have Christopher Rogers, Samaja Turner, and then it's gonna be uh.
(04:07):
The host of the hour is gonna be God's Poets,
and it's gonna be twenty two seventy at the Gas
Station Recording Studio, twenty two seventy Loci Road, and it's
gonna be a dynamic session I'm talling. I'm talking about
it's gonna be. We got people coming from California, we
(04:28):
got people coming from South Carolina, we got people coming
from Well, Kansas City. So it's gonna be. People's coming
all over the world just to be at this drum festival. Bro.
And I'm just just just honored to just to have
you to be a partner that that line. You know
(04:48):
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Oh, yes, sair, yes fair man, Like I said, I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
I was. I was shot.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Honestly, we are call hey, you know, do I want
to be a part And I was, Man, I jumped
at it. I jumped at it. And because I just
to see the work you put in and and everybody
that shows up and all the drummers. Man's such a
young dudes.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Man. I love it.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
I love it, man, I love I love to see
that and I love to be a part of that.
So I couldn't say no, I have to do it. Yeah,
You're right, Cloud is good or that. You know, God
works in mysterious ways, you know, you know, you just
gotta put faith and your your how the sense of
(05:33):
faith is the size of the mustard seed, you know.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
So basically you. You gotta have faith and true believe
in that it's gonna work. Not not I hope it's
going to not not, I'm hoping it's gonna work. It's
going to work, you know what I'm saying. Right, So
it's a right, it's a great skilly just to have
that situation, you know. So I'm thankful just to say, yes,
(06:00):
I'm a part of this movement. You know, this is
nothing but make me doing that. This is God doing it.
And you know, because they say basically, if you put
yourself a part of this situation.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
And then you're doing doing it all, then you know.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Where God is at, you know, right right right. So
I'm grateful to say that God's doing you know, and
I'm thankful just to you know, make it happen like that,
you know. So thank God for that that situation. But
(06:45):
we're gonna be shining the light on quest Love. Quest Love.
Quest Love has been basically one of my favorite drummers
of all times, all times. You know, he's one of
the drummers that I love, you know. Matter of fact,
(07:07):
since I went to the South, you know, in South Carolina,
you know, I have to pick up another kit, you know,
and that's basically one of the quick kits that I'm
gonna get the Question Love kit. Have you seen that
kid before?
Speaker 4 (07:23):
No, I haven't. I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it.
Whether it be similar to what he played on the
Tonight Show, which is like a.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Sir, you understand it's not like the piece the kit
that I had Again, I had a seven piece PDP
d W. That jazz kid that the Question Love have
is just a three piece. That's all we need, you
know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, so you still can
get all the things and your point across with just
(07:56):
said three three kids. You don't need no no uh
seven piece, no fifteen piece, no, no, one hundred piece. No.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Some have a lot of symbols, you know, because I
have seen a lot of kids that have, you know,
more tongues than you know they can eat. You know
what I'm saying, more tons than they can eat. They
have so many, so many tons, it's ridiculous, there's no right.
(08:25):
The Las Vegas Drums show, I seem like a kid
that was out of this world. He had like at
least over like ten or twelve tons. The two two,
the snares and two based drums. It was ridiculous, it
was really nice. Wow. You know some rock people, some
(08:46):
rock people, if they like kids like that, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they're they're yeah, And
there's like you said, there's small kids I've had. I've
had the pleasure of playing on a little bit of
both and in between. So it's yeah, yeah, man, my
preference is probably leaning towards like the smaller kids, like
(09:10):
the one question love plays to keep it now, just
to keep it simple, and especially if you especially if
you gig and you give it at like clubs or
whatever the case may be.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
It's just easier, you know, as so as like.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Your loading and your load out, just easier to keep
a small kid. Like you're saying, you get the same
point across as if you had like fifteen pieces, twenty pieces,
eighty pieces up there. It's yeah, it's the same point across,
you know. So uh yeah, my preference, especially the older
I get. Yes, I have a smaller kid. Man, it's
(09:47):
you know, give me my one rag time, my one floor,
my kick, my snare, a couple of symbols I had,
and I'm good. I need a bunch.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
That's true. That is true. So basically when question love,
even when he's talking or you know, when he's uh
doing a session or whatever, everything is to the point.
You can tell where his drum rolls he does, he
does his drum rolls, he does, he does his drum rolls.
(10:21):
You can tell he's he's making a point. And he's
definitely you know, shot in that light, you know, and
it's very bright when he's out there.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's I would call him a
tactician if you will, uh, every like I tell people,
every every note counts, every note counts, every ghost no,
every root of man, every note counts. There's never a
wasted note. And then which once you kind of lock
(10:58):
into that mentality. That's especially when you're recording. And that's
one thing I like about his playing. Every time he plays,
pretty much he's playing like he's being recorded, like you know,
and he's trying to make sure it's very precise. Everything
has a meaning no matter what he's doing, he's going
to it's like a story. It's like a storyboard. He
(11:19):
kind of takes you here to here to there, writing
the climax and to the end you know it's it's yeah,
it's it's never any wasted motion, never just I'm just
gonna chop here and just go crazy.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
It's no.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Everything is purposeful and that's one that's one thing I
like about his playing. Everything is purposeful. Everything has meaning
and purpose to it. So it's like, I love it.
I absolutely love it. Like I said, he's a total
tactician when it comes to drumming.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, she read about that, you right, you write about that,
so you know, Chris love It is not just a drummer.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
He's a.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
He's an artist. He's a book writer. He got a
lot of books out there right now. And he's a DJ.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Yeah, DJ, yes, sir, Yeah, I like I like that part.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Yeah, yeah, like that part.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
And he's reaching a lot of people just with what
he's doing, you know. And there hasn't been a night
that I haven't missed even out here. And let see
is it's totally different. The time schedule is totally different
(12:40):
from the West Coast. It's like, say, for instance, I
gotta catch him at eleven o'clock. Eleven thirty out here
is basically still over there in the Pacific Coast is still.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Eight o'clock over there right right right right.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Wow. I was like, oh my goodness. So so basically
I'm catching him when they basically start.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
So that's a that's a good thing. Yeah yeah, yeah,
definitely not miss man. You ain't missing nothing, miss nah.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Yeah exactly. So let's start with these top tens. Who's
your uh, the first one on your first first top
top ten?
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Let me see now, Now, this is the thing. My
top ten doesn't have like any particular order, and I
just like, yeah, yeah, I just like these guys, and
I like everybody for different reasons. I like everybody for
different reasons, man, And let me see my top ten.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
One one of the guys I actually started looking at
lately is Terry Baker. Terry Baker man, uh, the drummer
for Kirk Franklin. Drums for Kirk Franklin. Man, he goes,
he does a lot of the recordings and and touring
for Kirk. H solid solid drummer man, just solid. Like
(14:13):
I said, he reminds me a lot of questlove as
far as life just everything was, everything has a meaning.
He's not gonna overplay the song. He's gonna sit right
in there, right in that pocket. And he's very musical,
says same thing with questions are very musical. So that's
what that's why I like. That's why I like Terry Baker.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Man.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Oh so uh uh let me if you're going or
you got or you got one.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
You just know you go with all your all your
five and then I call my five.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
And yes, okay, okay, okay, that's uh, that's Terry Baker.
Let me see my second one of my second favorite
as matter of fact, if not one of my favorites
of all time is uh Chris Key. Chris Key from
John p Key John pea Key song, Chris King. I
(15:06):
had to I had the pleasure of meeting him, and
I had the pleasure of watching e literally watching him play.
Now I have and to this day, man, I've seen
a lot of people play. I know, I've seen a
lot of drummers and about you know, professional drummers and
everything else like that play. To this day, I have
never seen a drummer play with such uh power and
(15:31):
fluentity at the same time as Chris Key. Like everything
man is so on point. He was so on point,
so in the pocket with everything that was going on,
but he played with like he played with barocity, like
he played with force and sounds great. And that's one
(15:53):
of my jumps man. That's man, I can't I can't
say enough, man, one of my favorites. So Chris Key,
the next is, let me see Travis Barker, excellent drummer,
Travis Barker next to Laarmel Lewis. Let me see, I
got Teddy Campbell in there, I got ce J.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Thompson.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
M Let me see Eric Moore, Tony Taylor, Aaron Spears.
Uh yeah, man, all the all those dudes, man, those
those those are my top tens. Man, I got, yeah,
I got. I got Jerry Cherry, Yeah, Terry Baker, Travis Barker,
(16:40):
Laarmeil Lewis, Teddy Campbell, Dix Taylor, Aaron Spears, Chris Keys,
c J. Thompson, Eric Moore, and Tony Taylor.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Okay, oh so that's that's my team. That's my team.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Man.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
I love it. I love it great.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
So basically I'm gonna take you down another road. Basically
I'm gonna start with number number one. My number one
is all the way number five. I'm sorry, all the
way down from Philly the Woods with Questlove. Like we
were just talking about Quest Love shouts out to quest
(17:22):
love and what he's doing and everything. And then number seven,
number yeah is moon Child. Amber Haven, the Max Park
and the Antricks Nature Act and joined by Forrest in
(17:46):
twenty twelve at the University of Sunday, Nevada, and their
debut album be Free Soons as I follow. This year,
they released their fourth album and Little Ghost. Basically this
(18:09):
jazz group. Have you seen them on their tiny desk question,
Moonchill moon Child? This is a group.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
I just check it out.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
You got to check them out. Basically if you look
at like as far as of like far As of
the like small groups. You know it's just just three
of them, but they have singers with them and and
they basically talking and they like we we're talking right now.
(18:54):
They are talking and they are painting a picture of
their songs as they speak. Moon Child Amber Haven had
Nevin and Max Burke and Andricks Madison. That's their name.
(19:16):
Look them up, Amber Nevern, Max Verick, and Andricks Madison.
The new the name of the group is called moon Child.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
There is Okay, So I'm gonna check them out.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Moon Child is, Oh my goodness, it's ridiculous. The next
one is, uh, Stunner Award winner Brent Jones. I got
a lot of to say about Brent Jones. The reason
why I got a lot to say about Brenton Jones
(19:53):
because he don't care about whatever people say about him.
He just do what God tells him to do, and
he's just gonna make it happen. He's gonna, you know,
you know, give what God has told him to do.
(20:15):
And I just love him dearly because I got a chance.
I got an opportunity to shake hands with this this
young man, This young man is nothing but nothing but love.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
You know.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
I got a chance to shake hands with him at
one of my Big Brothers concert at maybe Blake Lee's
White Knight concert, and he was in Vegas and he
just showed up, and you know, I was just honored
just to to speak to him and you know, uh
(20:56):
say hello and everything. And the group I'm trying to
shine a light on is his group that plays with
him and they did a uh from the music aspect,
you know, the musicians aspect, you know, a video from
(21:19):
the musician's aspect, and the group name is Eddie Brown.
He's the co producer on Main Keys and Craig Brook
went Brockman on the organ and Coy okay Hawkins on
the drums, and this young man on the bass guitar,
(21:41):
Oh my goodness, we he just got a zero. His
name is he's yes, yes, his name is Taki Taki,
and he's on the bass, and uh, the lead guitars
is Dan Dan Spiffy Newey.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Okay, okay, you got to have Yeah, what's his name,
Dan Spiffy Newman. Okay, then Newman got you okay, Yes.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
He's the young man. He's uh, he's known to he's
he's uh, he plays I know him for the guitar.
But he plays B three two.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Oh okay, okay, for sure. Nice he not.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Lays B three two too. So I've been falling Dan
Spiffy since one gm W A session. I don't know
if it was over here in the South, but I've
been following him for quite some time. And they did
they're doing that. They just put a Britt Jones just
(22:50):
put out a CD right now, So I think you
all need to go out there and purchase his new
CD from Brinon Jones, the Stellar Award winner. Sir Brent Jones.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
All right, all right, but then on my list that's
why I'm all, yes, yes, that's on your list.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
So that's it for that part. But we're going to
open it up to talk about a little bit what
the world needs to know about right now. We are
going through a lot of situation situations, a lot of
tough times, and I think that this is the right
(23:41):
time for you to know what's happening. And I'm just
doing to open up floor up. This young man has
been been in my life for I say, at least
six sixty seven years and he has never said no
(24:07):
to anything that I have asked or whatever. This young
man has been a musician now I know, and I
see that he's doing a lot of things that I'm
very excited said it excited of you know, and I'm
(24:30):
very thankful just to have him on the line right now.
His name is Rev. I call it Rev now because
it's very honorable. It's very honorable just to see you
move and you're not, you know, you're not, you know,
(24:51):
saying no to what God has for you. So sad,
I'm just gonna this is your time, you know right
now too. You know, let's the world low what's going over,
what you have and what where they can reach you
and what you have for the world today as a pastor.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Okay, okay, well yeah, yeah, well thank you for the
thank you for the intro. I appreciate it. And yeah, man,
so I guess since we've been talking, you know, since
you've been communicating off and on and everything else. Man,
God has moved on me to actually, uh start a church,
(25:35):
start a ministry. And the funny thing about it, when
when I was always against it, like I was like, no,
I don't want to do it, or don't want to
do it.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
It wasn't my thing to do.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
It's like, naw, there's other other people, you know, greater
you know, great great men and women of God that
can actually do the job. You know, it's because it's
it's a job. So I was like, nah, man, I'm
going back and for for God, you know, which is
which is funny within theself, you know, this is the creator.
And I'm going back and forth, me and him having
(26:08):
the whole conversation. I'm trying to tell him now and
every other excuse in the book, and he's not and
you know, for the most part, he ain't listening.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
He's like, no, doude, do what I'm asking you.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
To do.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Do what I'm telling you to do. So long story short,
we started ministry. The ministry is called Family of Hope
Christian not Christians sell me a Pope Worship center. Family
a Hope Worship Center. And we are located and this
is just the thing. We're located in the city of
Los Angeles and we're also located in the city of
(26:42):
him At, California. Now him In California is about an
hour and a half out of Los Angeles. So we're
one church, two locations and that and that's and that's
the part that's that's amazing to me, not just the
start the ministry, but when God.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Gave it to me.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
He gave it to me as if he didn't tell
me where he could go.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
That was the thing.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
I was like, Okay, well where where you know where
am I gonna You know where am I gonna start?
You know where am I gonna put this church? Where
am I gonna start? And God said, well, I never
told you you have to start in one particular area.
He just says start. So me, me being who I
am man, and you know, I thought about it. I
was like, you know what, you're right, So if it's possible.
(27:33):
We're gonna we're going to start. We're going to start
the church and we're gonna build it. We're going to
have two sites. We're going to start off with two sites,
to pretty much start off with two churches, which is
in itself difficult, but.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
But it's difficult.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
But what I what I found out, and like the
scripture says, man, and like the writ is, you know
music people that write, there's nothing too hard for God.
God can do any thing he wants to do, when
he wants to do it, how he wants to do it.
And I am a I'm a witness to it, and
I'm just appreciative that, you know, he even chose me
(28:12):
to do such a to do such a work. And
we're excited, man, We're truly truly excited about what he
what he's doing. And it's not and it's not over.
He's not We're not done. We're not done growing, we're
not done expanding, and I'm not gonna I'm not ik
like this. I don't know exactly where our next our
(28:35):
next mission will be as far as like we're to
plant another church, but I just know it's not it's
not too far off. We're gonna plan, and we're gonna
plan at many churches, as God says, and we're gonna
keep going to say he says, stop, pause, wait, whatever
the case may be, you know what I'm saying. So
that's that's so I'm super excited. I'm extremely humbled and
(28:59):
uh yeah, man, it's uh, it's a good time. It's
it's a really good time, especially especially during these times.
I believe that the word of God and people need
to hear the truth, not the water down version, but
the truth. Not the part that's going to get the money,
but the truth. That's not the part that that makes
(29:19):
the preacher look good all the time. But people need
to hear the truth. And the truth of the matter is,
and the truth of the matter is, you got to
live this thing. You can't live you can't walk a
certain type of walk during the week and then on
Sunday you want to come and fall before they all say,
Oh God, please forgiving.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Me all that that.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
I mean, that's cool and all if that's the wrong
with that, But at the end of the day, when
are we as people and believers going to absolutely start
walking in the anointing and in the in the promise
of the promise of God. Once you do that, our
lives and everything else will change. But until we do that,
(30:04):
you know, if we always gonna eat, bump our heads
and everything else like that. And it's yeah, it's it's
the thing. It's it's it's a it's crazy. It's crazy.
So that's one thing we really really try to teach
and preach is all. All the shouting is good, All
all the prophetic stuff is great. There's nothing wrong with it.
(30:27):
It's all wonderful, and it's all a part of the
it's all a part of the body the Christ. But
the most important part is once you leave those doors,
once you walk outside, is to live the life of Christ,
to be that life, to be it's thought. That's you know,
salt and light. These are the things that are are
(30:49):
that describe believers, and we need to be that and
the things and that the cold part about it. Salt
changes everything that touches the life changes with the texas,
it illuminates a guide's salt changes the flavor or salt
it's certain, heal and all these things. So if we're
(31:10):
the salt in the light of the earth, we're supposed
to affect change. We're supposed to be the change that
that evoke the world to be and if if nothing else,
everywhere we go, we need to Hey, we need to
stick out. And now i'd stand go there. You know
that people with oil and everything else like that. But
(31:31):
if you walk a certain way, if you live a
certain way, it will stick out. You will stick out.
And that's all I can go. I can go on
now anyway.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
And that's true. That is true. That is true. That
is true. You have to definitely be that shining light,
be that person of God, not of the world. Basically
what I'm saying and what I'm kind of for you,
(32:01):
you have to be that person that wants to be
that shining light of God.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
You know.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
What I'll always ask on this show is tell me
something positive. You have to be that person that's speaking
positive to the world and not negative. Yes, we do
have to let them people know. You know that that
(32:28):
is not right, This is not right for you to
be doing like smoking, drinking, the assessor of drugs and
you know, and stuff like that, you know, yambling and
stuff like that. You know, but you know there's a
way to guide them to Christ is with our.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
Love exactly, exactly, exactly that that's that's where that, like
I said, man, that's where.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
Living in life.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
You have to live it like I honestly, the more
people that will see a person. And and this, this
is a sermon of mine. This is a sermon of mine.
And the sermon of mine I call it making a
joy for noise. Everybody knows this song making joy for noise, right,
But I fit the angle I took the I took
(33:24):
the direction of this. The loudest thing that we can
do is not just shout and make a bunch of
noise with our mouths. But the loudest thing that speaks
louder than anything that we can say out of mouths
is how we live. That speaks volumes louder than what
you can say after your mounths. So when we're talking
about making the joy for noise, what we're really talking about,
(33:47):
we're really talking about living so loud that you affect
the change, you become the change God. You have to
live a life where God, where God notices, not what
you're saying, because in the Bible is written, oh your lifts,
your lips are saying this, but your heart is far
from me. So that being said, that lets you know,
(34:08):
people can come in your church and they can shout,
they can do backslips, they can they can prophesie, they
could do this, and they can do that. But yet
God can still look at that same person that did
all these miracles and say, well, your heart is far
from me. Why because when you leave here, you're doing
everything else but worship, your muting your life. You're drinking,
your smoking, you're sleeping with this person, you're doing this,
(34:30):
you're lying. You live a whole life, you give up,
you live a whole different type of lifestyle. See, then
that stuff matters. That stuff matures.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Man. It's just like that.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
And that's the stuff that we have family and whope,
that's that's what we lean on. That's why it's like
I love to tell everybody about us and everything else,
but I know for a fact we're not going to
be for everybody because when you come in, we're going
to love on you, but we're gonna also tell you
how look, man, we love you. That you got change
that you know you can't you can't do all that
(35:02):
not in the Bible. Now that's right, you know that's
right now on them, but still love on them, man,
because it's like God is love, so we're still gonna
love on everybody. At the same time, it's like, I'm
not gonna I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say't change
the message. I'm not gonna change the Bible just.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
To fit people exactly, exactly exactly. So that's awesome, that's awesome.
I'm really thankful just to have you on this show.
I'm really thank God that you said yes to this
show on tonight. And uh, I really like to just

thank my uh mentor batman Jerry roy Is Live for
coming in and making this platform and for us that
we can reach over one hundred and fifty country trees,

(36:05):
situation to have that situation, have that platform that we
can speak the word of God and give truth to
the peoples that are listening and give them a joy
full of laughter too with music. That's a blessing. And
