There's a little bit of something onthere for everybody. Paranormal, weird,
mysteries, crime, all kinds ofstuff. And with all that behind
us, let's get on with theshow, all right. So the Wyrick

(02:23):
family was a young family that hadmoved to the town of Ellerslie, Georgia,
which was a population of about threethousand people at the time, and
they had bought their first house inFebruary of nineteen eighty nine. And this
was when Andy and Lisa's daughter,Heidi, was about three to four years
old. Her parents, Andrew andLisa. They wanted to move to a

(02:46):
town to get a fresh start inan affordable, place, safe, place
that they could raise a family,And they found this house for a really
good deal, and the previous ownershad just left and abandoned, so they
thought that they were just getting reallylucky right there. So about a month
after moving in, Heidi is playingoutside and she comes inside to ask if

(03:09):
she could swing with the old manwho was asking to play with her.
So her mom, Lisa, looksoutside, doesn't see anybody out there,
tells her not to talk to strangers. That's something that she doesn't need to
be doing. And then Lisa callsup Andy and tells him there was a
man outside asking Heidi to play.So Andy comes home and he goes out

(03:31):
looking for this guy and he goesdriving around and parents are kind of freaking
out, and they never found anybodythat matches the description that Heidi gave,
and she described him as being anold man, gray or silver hair,
dressed in a black suit. Sothe parents go out and they start asking
around this neighborhood if anyone looked likethat. They asked all their neighbors,

(03:55):
Hey, do you know anybody thatmight look like this who lives around here?
And every but he said no,So Heide's mom decides that she's still
gonna, you know, let herplay outside and stuff, but she's just
going to keep a lot closer eyeon her because it was just a weird
instance, you know. So thenext day, Heidi starts talking about how
this old man was sitting in herroom and talking to her, and her

(04:18):
parents just kind of wrote it offas her having an imaginary friend, and
Lisa would witness Heide on a fewoccasions with her hand reaching upwards and floating
in the air outside like she washolding an invisible person's hand. Lisa would
ask her whose hand she was holding, and Heidi would say that it was

(04:39):
the man and his name was misterGordy, and Lisa immediately thought it was
strange that Heide's imaginary friend wasn't achild, that it was a full grown,
older male, and Heidi would speakabout mister Gordy all the time.
According to Lisa and Andy, thisimagine ary friend just seemed to be around

(05:01):
them all the time. Heidi wouldgo as far as wanting to eat her
lunch in her room with mister Gordy. Lisa would just kind of humor her,
you know, she would make alittle bit of lunch for mister Gordy,
the imaginary friend, and she wouldcheck on Heidi and Heidi to be
sitting in her room having full onconversations with somebody who wasn't there. So

(05:25):
after a while, the parents justkind of got used to her talking about
him all the time, and theydidn't think much of it because, like
I said, it's an imaginary friend. And Lisa did think that it was
kind of odd that it was fullblown conversations. She was talking about him
a lot. She was trying tosupport her daughter though, because they had

(05:47):
just moved, Heidi was really young, there were not very many kids in
the neighborhood, so she thought thatthis was just her way of coping.
And Heidi would explain years later whenshe would think out mister Gordy, she
had no idea that he was nota real person. She was quoted as
saying, I saw him up untilI was eight years old on an everyday

(06:10):
basis. We would sit and haveconversations and then he would take me by
the hand and we would go outand play on the swing. So while
all this is going on, youknow, the parents are trying to cope
with Heide's imaginary friend that she's talkingto every damn day. Heidi, here's
the doorbell ring, and she goesto answer the door, and Heide saw

(06:31):
a man with an injured hand anda blood soaked shirt standing in the doorway.
So she goes and runs to tellher mom that an injured guy by
the name of con was at thedoor. So of course Lisa freaks out
and she goes to check it out. Lisa asked Heide to describe what the
man looked like. Heidi told hermother that the man she saw wanted to

(06:55):
play with her in the front yard, but his shirt was covered in blood
and he had an injured hand thatwas just covered in bandages and just dripping
with blood basically. So, likeI said, Lisa gets to the door,
she doesn't see any man. Andwhat she said was, so I
brought Heidie in and locked all thedoors, and I got the butcher knife
out of the drawer, and Icalled my husband to come home. So

(07:18):
when she calls Andy, she tellshim that she thinks there's a man trying
to hurt her family or even possiblykidnap Heide. So Andy Wyrett gets home
and him and Lisa went in searchedthe entire neighborhood for an injured man who
looked like this guy named Cohn thatHeide had seen. So her mom proceeds

(07:40):
to lock all the doors, andshe was waiting for this dude to return.
So they get back home, Andygoes back to work, her mom
proceeds to lock all of the doorsand waited for this guy to return.
According to Lisa, she never sawthis guy, but Heide did see him.
So while he is still talking aboutmister Gordie all the time, she

(08:03):
also starts talking about this guy namedCohn, and her mom and dad just
kind of brushed it off, youknow, they thought she was having a
rough time with the move. She'sstill really young, she's three to four
years old. She's thinking, youknow, as possibly another imaginary friend or
the same person. And like Isaid, the parents kind of let it
go because Heidi seemed really happy, and she liked the house, and she

(08:28):
liked her imaginary friends, and shewas enjoying herself. So, you know,
nobody thought much of it. Andthis kept going on for years and
everything seemed fine until Lisa got pregnantwith Heidi's little sister in nineteen ninety three,
and Heidi started seeing a dark figurein the home, and her demeanor

(08:48):
started to change as well. Heidistarted telling her parents that something bad was
in the house and she didn't feelsafe, and she would sleep with her
parents or in her room with thelights on. She referred to this bad
thing as a dark figure that wouldappear as a dark shadow in her room.
She said the dark figure would makeher room colder, and said that

(09:11):
it had pulled her hair. Youknow, I had no facial features,
just looks like a solid shadow. And right about this time, a property
next door to Lisa and Andy comesup for sale, and Lisa has a
sister named Joyce, and she wantedher to move into the property beside her
because, you know, let's havemore family around. It's a nice neighborhood.

(09:35):
Supposedly it's safe, with the exceptionof the imaginary friends, you know.
And Joyce decides to take the propertyand move starts moving in, and
while she's moving in, one day, she sees Heidi playing in the yard
and she's out there talking to misterGordy, of course, and Joyce found
it odd that she had an oldman as an imaginary friend, just like

(09:58):
Lisa did. And she was alittle bit concerned about it as well,
because at this point, Heidi's startingto get a little bit older now.
So right about this time, Heide'sparents decided to possibly distract her with a
new dog. She obviously needed afriend, She's got these imaginary friends or
whatever. Parents are like, youknow what, let's get her dog.

(10:20):
And she loved this dog. Soone day, Lisa's telling her sister Joyce
everything that happened with Heide, howshe saw this bloodied man at the door
and all this shit, and Joyceis like, you know what, I'm
going to help figure out who livedin this house before the family because maybe
that has something to do with it. And Lisa was right on board with

(10:43):
this. She's like, yes, this is awesome. So Heide's aunt,
Joyce, called the real estate agentand asked for the previous owner's information,
and Joyce discovered that the previous homeownerwas named Catherine Leadford and her family had
lived on that property since the earlynineteen hundreds. So Joyce calls Katherine and
gets together with her to learn aboutthe house and the property. Katherine gives

(11:09):
Joyce the deed to the home andJoyce sees the name James Gordy on the
deed. As it turns out,he was a friend of the family and
took care of Katherine's mother's estate. He was also like a caregiver and an
executor of the estate as well.So Catherine tells her that James Gordy passed

(11:31):
away in nineteen seventy four. Joyceis like, hey, what did he
look like? And this woman Catherinedescribed the exact same person that Heidea has
been talking about. So Joyce freaksout a little bit and she runs over
and she tells Lisa what she justfound out. And Heidi's mom didn't believe

(11:54):
that this was Heide's imaginary friend. So she goes to the library to learn
more about this guy, and shefound out which cemetery he was buried at.
This is when Lisa starts to panicbecause at this moment she sees a
picture of him. She realizes that, holy shit, this guy really is
dead. He's mister Gordy. Hewas involved in this property for a very

(12:18):
long time. When she sees thepicture, she says, that's who heide
keeps describing. So this is whenLisa starts to freak out a little bit.
So she decides to sit down withHeidi and explain to her that mister
Gordy was dead. Heidi tells herHe's not dead, He's real to me,

(12:39):
mom. And for some reason, when Lisa told Heidi that mister Gordy
was actually a dead person, nother imaginary friend, Heidi wanted to go
visit his grave. So Lisa andAndy's father decide to take Heide to the
cemetery ry and when they show up, as soon as the car stops,

(13:03):
Heidi gets out runs directly to thegrave of mister Gordy. Of course,
Lisa's just like, what the fuckis going on because Heidi can't fucking read.
At this point, she cannot readthe name mister Gordy, but she
knew exactly where the fuck his tombstonewas and visited his grave. Parents are

(13:26):
having a hard time wrapping their headaround this shit, but they're trying to
maintain. Okay, they're trying tomaintain. So soon after this, Lisa
has her niece over to the houseand she's talking to her about everything that
happened and that's been going on.She would also tell her niece about how
the dog would stare off into cornersor hallways start growling at nothing, like

(13:50):
showing teeth. And on this particularnight, the dog is looking into the
kitchen and just starts barking and growlinglike crazy. And the family straight up
said that this dog made them feeluncomfortable because it just seemed like he was
always barking and growling at nothing. The bad part about this is not long

(14:11):
after that the dog ran away andwas never found. Nobody actually knows what
happened to this dog after it ranaway. So this is when Lisa calls
up Katherine Ledford. Lisa wants toknow if there has been any kind of
unexplained things happen on the property thatshe was aware of, and this Katherine

(14:31):
Ledford says, no, there hasn'tbeen, not that I'm aware of.
So Lisa says, bring some photosover to the house because she wants Hidi
to see them and see if sherecognized anyone of Katherine's family or anybody who
used to live on the property oranything like that. So Catherine comes over

(14:52):
and brings all these photos of herfamily throughout the years. She hands a
few photos to hide, and shepicks out the man named Khan, the
man with blood on his shirt bandage, on his hand that came to her
door, and Catherine says, yeah, that's my uncle. His name was

(15:13):
Lan Bachelor. She said that lnhad lost his hand in a cotton gin
accident when he was about twenty yearsold, and he had lived on the
property when he was a teenager, but he had died from cancer in nineteen
fifty seven. So once this isconfirmed, Heide's parents, Andrew and Lisa,

(15:33):
they didn't know what to do afterthis, and they kind of got
scared at this point, as ifany of this other ship beforehand wouldn't freak
you out. Apparently this was thetipping point because she picked out a fucking
picture of this dude. I meanalmost knew his name. She was one
letter off, but anyway, shepicks this dude out of a bunch of

(15:56):
photos and it's like, yeah, that's the guy that came to the door.
Where that's con But Lisa and Andyare kind of asking themselves, how
can our daughter see and talk tothese people? So as time went on,
Heidi's parents also began to experience someof these supernatural occurrences in the house.

(16:18):
They would hear doors open and close, they would see objects move.
There was one day when Heide,Lisa and another relative were at home during
the day, and Lisa said thata chair was pulled out by an invisible
force and flipped over as if itwas thrown. There were also other nights
where Lisa said she would hear voicesspeaking over her bed. She said these

(16:41):
voices whispered about her and would sayher name. Now, before we get
any further with this story, let'sgo ahead and take a break. You
can either hit that fast forward buttonor I'll meet you back here in a
couple of minutes. So, likeI had previously mentioned, nineteen ninety three,
Lisa got pregnant again. This isabout the time where this dark figure

(17:04):
starts getting way more prominent with Heidi. She starts seeing it more, it
starts scaring her more. And Heidiis having a lot of trouble sleeping,
and she says she wants to leavethe house. And Lisa Wirek remembered Heidi's
change in behavior, and she said, Heidi had never been scared of anything.

(17:25):
She had never been scared of Cohn, she had never been scared of
mister Gordy. But when she sawthe dark figure in our hallway, she
was hysterical and According to Lisa, this new spirit became frequent and sometimes violent.
She goes on to say, atfirst we had talked about moving,
but like I told him, Idon't think it would be so good to

(17:48):
move because wherever we go, she'sjust got that gift. She's going to
see people from the past or peoplethat have been dead. And this brings
us up to February of nineteen ninetyfour. Heide's younger sister, Jordan,
is born. Two weeks later,Lisa noticed that Heide's visitations started getting more

(18:10):
violent. Lisa said, she cameinto the bedroom and had deep gashes down
her face, and it terrified me. I didn't know what it was,
and I couldn't imagine what could havescratched her that bad. And Heide's dad,
Andy, never really gave the scratchas much thought. He just kind
of thought she had accidentally scratched herselfwhile she was sleeping during the night.

(18:34):
Either way, they leave that nightand they go stay with a relative,
and they returned back home the nextday, and they do kind of want
to sell the house at this pointbecause a couple nights later, Andy wakes
up with three scratches on his sideand he said it burned like fire.
And then the next night he wokeup with more claw mark scratches down his

(18:59):
back, his legs, and thisgoes on for several nights, and he
said, I had three claw marksgoing around my side. The next night
I went to sleep and I wokeup, I had three claw marks going
down my back. And then ithappened again and the next night and I
woke up and had three claw marksdown my chest. And Heidi told her

(19:19):
dad that it was the dark figurethat had done this to them, and
they all decide, if this keepshappening, we need to leave this house.
And to be honest with you,I think I would have probably left
by now, But in their defense, because I know we're all sitting here
rationalizing. Hindsight's always twenty twenty. But when you buy a house, you

(19:41):
can't just move out, you know, Like six months later, they were
financially invested in this house. Itwas their first house. They were a
young couple with a young family. They couldn't just leave, so some of
their friends and family gave them theinformation or a guy named doctor William Role,

(20:03):
and he was a highly educated psychologistwho studies the paranormal and he would
use science to explain hauntings. Lisacalls him and explains the situation that's going
on, and she told him everythingthat had happened in the house over the
last few years and tells him aboutmister Gordy and lawn Bachelor and the dark

(20:25):
figure as well, and he agreesto meet the family and check this out.
And he interviews the family and Heidi, and he found no signs of
mental illness, but he did noticeshe had no concept of ghosts. Heidi
thought these were real people. Shedid not realize what ghosts were. So

(20:47):
doctor Roll thinks that Heidi was havingplaced memories and this is kind of like
a residual haunting or an energy likethat, And he goes on to say
that she felt that energy and constructedthis mister Gordy in her mind. But
she was unique because she could actuallydo this. This wasn't something that everybody
can do. So doctor Roll decidesto test her and he brought over a

(21:11):
picture of mister Gordy and he mixedit with ten other pictures of men the
same age, vaguely the same description. She was able to pick out the
picture of mister Gordy without hesitation, and she had never seen this man's picture
before. So doctor William Roll hedecides to start doing some tests on the

(21:34):
magnetic fields and ions in the house, and he found a lot of positive
ions in her room, and accordingto science or him, positive ions have
an effect on a person's mood andperception and could cause hallucinations. So he
decides to wire this house with sensorsto test levels overnight, and in the

(21:57):
middle of the night the activity hespiked in Heide's parents room. So he
goes and does some geological research andhe found out about an earthquake that happened
in the area, and he toldthe family he thinks the shift in the
magnetic field is what is causing thehallucinations which would be created by the environment,

(22:18):
and these positive ions which were causedby this were stimulating Heide's brain.
Doctor William Roll told Heide's parents thatshe was suffering from delusions, but he
also admitted he could not explain thescratches. When the parents heard this,
it made them feel a little bitbetter, but they still were experiencing things

(22:41):
after this. By nineteen ninety four, Heide is used to seeing ghosts all
the time, she's starting to geta little bit older, she's making friends
at school. She sees mister Gordyless, and she later said in an
interview that she missed Miss Gordy becausehe was real. He was a legit

(23:02):
friend. And she did start seeingthis dark shadow figure again and more frequently,
and she was terrified of this thing. She was even seeing it over
at her aunt's house, like onthe porch and shit. So not long
after this is when the media findsout about the Wyrick home, and there
was a particular reporter who happened tobe into the paranormal, and he drives

(23:27):
out to the house and he wantsto interview the family. So as he's
walking up to the house, hesays that he got this awful feeling and
he saw something up in the window, and he was so off put by
this feeling of like just being sickto his stomach or ill, that he
left before he even bothered speaking toany member of the family. So then

(23:52):
the community hears about the Wyrick familyand all their shit going on, and
Heidi starts getting a lot of unwantedattention, especially at school, man that
she had a lot of people makingfun of her, and she hated this
attention. Unfortunately, it was alreadypast that point. Lisa and Joyce did

(24:12):
remember that their mother used to talkabout seeing people and hearing voices, and
they said that they thought she wasjust messing with them or having fun when
they were younger, But now theystarted believing that maybe seeing spirits was something
that ran in the family. Andafter this discussion, Lisa and her sister

(24:33):
Joyce said that they began to experiencemore paranormal activity. And Joyce is experiencing
this ship for the first time. And if it isn't bad enough or wild
enough that Heidi is seeing and speakingto spirits. One day, Lisa finds
her younger daughter, Jordan, speakingto someone when she was about the age

(24:56):
of three. Jordan told her thatshe was playing with a new friend who
was a little girl, and Heiditold her mom that this little girl was
friendly and she wasn't bothered by it. It didn't make Lisa feel any better
because she thought that they were evil. This shit's been going on for about
damn near close to a decade, all right, and it's getting worse,

(25:18):
and things are starting to get alittle bit darker and a little bit more
violent, and the family goes andasks their pastor to come and cleanse the
house of any kind of negative energyor evil spirits, and he told them
ghosts aren't real, but demons are. So the pastor came to the house
and did what pastors do when they'regetting rid of demons, but it didn't

(25:44):
seem to work because the family stillhad shit going on afterward. So Heide's
dad, Andy calls doctor William Rollagain and told him what was going on
and told him about the things withJordan and also more things happening with his
wife Lisa too. William Roll comesand interviews the family again and he thinks

(26:08):
these experiences will still continue with LisaHeide no matter what. He had a
little change of mindset. He alsobelieved that seeing spirits ran in their family
now, and he ends up goingto Lisa and Joyce's childhood home and interviews
other family members as well, andapparently this family had paranormal experiences that went

(26:33):
back generations. So doctor William Rowledecides to call a well known medium by
the name of Amy Allen, whois known for the Dead Files TV show,
and he asks her to come tothe home the medium was not allowed
to meet the family and knew nothingabout the haunting. So Amy Allen shows

(26:56):
up and she brings along somebody todocument it. And while she's going through
this house, she's describing a lotof what's going on with the family.
This is information that she did notpreviously know. And then the medium sensed
a little girl in the home aswell as a spirit that she called the

(27:17):
caretaker, and this is believed tobe mister Gordy, and she felt really
good energy with him as being agentle protector type. Now, I will
say this like, because of themedia and the reputation in the town,
I do find it a little bithard to believe that Amy Allen did not
hear about this, especially if doctorWilliam Rowell is the one calling her.

(27:40):
But the fact that she did describein detail some of the ship is pretty
wild. So with that being said, Amy also said that there were three
dark spirits in the home. Onewas very angry and negative. She said
that even if they move, it'sgoing to follow them, and Lisa starts
getting really fucking worried. Now,because just like any parent or any good

(28:03):
parent, I should say, youknow, you want to protect your family,
especially when you got kids, youknow, and she just doesn't know
what to do. And the familywanted more answers, so they called for
a second psychic to come in.This guy said he could sense spirits,
but he couldn't see or talk tothem. The second psychic said that there

(28:23):
were three demonic entities in the home. Going back to Amy Allen, she
had said that one of the demonswas trying to live in Jordan's room and
said that there was a second demontrying to attach itself to Heidi, but
that a good spirit was fighting itoff, and they believed again that this
spirit was mister Gordy. And thenshe goes on to say that the third

(28:48):
demon would travel between the living roomand the wall over the parent's bed,
and this is right where Lisa wouldalways complain about hearing her name and it
and being cold and everything like that. Amy told them that there was a
portal in the family's living room betweenthe spirit world and the real world.

(29:10):
She said that demonic entities could findtheir way through the portal and would not
want to leave. She said theportal was in the fireplace and that everything
that had come through was sticking aroundboth psychics felt the same things in the
same spots, which I find prettyinteresting. And on that note, nothing

(29:33):
got any better. So they decideto take refuge in the church, and
they're just trying to put up ashield for themselves. And Amy Allen said
that she thinks they needed to justaccept it and understand it, and that
Heidi was a medium and it won'tjust go away. And doctor William Roll
agreed with her. Pretty wild shit, but that brings us to a dull

(30:00):
hood. What is Heidi doing now? Yes, she is still alive,
and she still sees spirits. Theystarted eventually coming to Heidi in different forms.
They would be humans, animals, sometimes figures that she couldn't even explain.
She told one media outlet, Ican sense when it's an evil presence
or if it's a good presence.If I can sense evil, you wouldn't

(30:22):
believe the feelings you can get.I've literally been sick to my stomach.
Despite all of her encounters with theparanormal, Heidi has gone on to live
a fairly normal life. She gotmarried, she has kids of her own
now, and after all the mediaattention that her story did get, Heidi
was able to connect with a bunchof people who shared similar experiences and had

(30:48):
similar abilities, and she says, most of the time, I've learned to
keep a lot of it to myselfand I really don't even notice it.
You get used to seeing things aftera while. One thing that gets to
Ruth though, is some of thehateful comments that are on paranormal websites or
social media nowadays. It just provesthat she's a polarizing figure. Is the

(31:12):
way that it was put, whichI can agree with that right, And
Heidi Wyrick knows this, and shestraight upset. You'll have people believe you
one hundred percent and then some peoplethink you're crazy. There's no in between.
Not a day goes by where Heididoesn't wish her life could have just

(31:33):
been normal and her not be ableto see this shit. So we'll close
this episode with a Heidi Wyrick quoteand it says, every day, every
day, I wish these things wouldn'thave happened, because my life would be
so much different. I wouldn't beknown for something like this. And I
tell you what you know, likeyou can you know if you believe in

(31:56):
the paranormal. I know there's alot of people who know all the podcast
who don't get into paranormal episodes. It's one of my favorite topics. So
I like doing stories like this,And there's a lot of things in this
story. If you watch the documentary, it's it's a lot more detailed.
You can find it on YouTube. Also, let's state some other sources real
