Speaker 1 (00:04):
March eighteenth, nineteen eighty five, forty years ago. Today, as
I'm recording this episode, we get the lighting were bad lighting.
I'm recording this March eighteenth, twenty twenty five. I should
have release this episode today, well the eighteenth, and then
(00:25):
when I released, I should released it tomorrow, which is today.
I know, backwards, right, I'm giving you a double episode
of Neighbors, and you have to celebrate and literally on that.
I'm so mad. I didn't get it on the day,
but the next day, so it's March nineteenth, twenty survives
me released, so it's forty So it's forty years and
(00:48):
a day old. Happy anniversary, Neighbors. I'm you're American fan,
so I'm doing anything backwards. Of course, we drive you
other side of the street, all kinds of different things, right,
and we're behind you in time, you're ahead of us
in time. Kind of all makes sense in a weird way.
I've decided for the fortieth I'm gonna step up. There
(01:08):
will be more episodes of the show because I'm actually
I just watched I'm watching this week's episodes. I'm going
to comment on those. So there'll be another episode later
this week of this week's episodes, but many of you
ask me to do more. I know I didn't do
them as faithfully as I was when I first started.
I've done a few episodes here and there. Life things happen,
(01:30):
but I'm here and as I sit, you know the
show as leaving at the end of the year, I'm
going to.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Do episodes throughout the year continued this.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
So this after show, we'll we'll be here on some level,
and I'm going back to watch certain episodes, watching them
on Amazon Prime for free. I'm actually gonna watch the
fourth episode as with introduction of Cottie Minogue, that'll be
a seven episode too, of course, but this where I
decided to watch the very first episode first of all,
(01:59):
the Fashion, the cars, the Hair. In nineteen eighty five.
In March nine eighty five, I was fifteen years old.
Two months before I turned sixteen in May of that year,
I was in the tenth grade, going to you go
to high school, and I had heard of neighbors. I
(02:21):
don't know how I heard it. I remember hearing as
used the soap was it was a soap out there
in Australia. Yeah, I think, but I think I had
for anyone's Australia maybe seen it or something because I
was just soaps in America somehow became a conversation. So
I had heard of it and didn't watch it. Of
course we'd have it in America, but I had heard
of it that I was kind of fascinated because it's like, ooh,
(02:42):
there's a soap opera out there in the other country,
like kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
And I grew up in Tel Novillas, something totally different.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
The first episode is titled Episode one, and it's like
twenty two minutes and actually was a solid pilot.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
It was a very solid pilot. It started out with
a little mystery, very much with this.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
We meet this guy Danny, and we don't anything about him,
but he's like half naked and wet, this teenager and
all these eighties cars surrounding him with the lights on,
laughing at him, and it's whole I'm thinking, I'm thinking
it's gonna go this whole bully route. I'm feeling bad
for him, thinking me a bad feeling about him, going,
Oh my god, who doesn't like something happened to him?
(03:27):
And then he looks up and I guess his brother,
you know, it's his brother. But this guy Shane is
diving into something. He's screaming. He wakes up.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
It's a nightmare. So that's kind of that's so it
it opened with some intrigue already. It's like, wow, okay,
I'm like, I'm curious, what's going on? Caught my eye.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
The next time we have going on, we meet, we
meet the guy's doing all the name stuff. We started
meeting some of the families and there's a guy named
dez Uh and he is getting married to go named Lorraine.
So it's so it's the night. It's like the night
(04:09):
before the wedding. So they come a Bucks party. I
learned I learned new stuff, which we call bachelor parties
or whatever. They're going a Bucks party. And then we
meet the Thompson's. We meet Granny and and Uh and
young Stephen Dennis. That's right, he's been on since the
(04:30):
very first episode. Beautiful, gorgeous hair of dark hair, made
a little body. They're like, oh, Dennis, Stephan Dennis. It's
like so weird to see him so young. I say,
like a like a young adult. It was so okay.
So it's it's set where he's a few years old
than me. Things so he's out of high school.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
He must be.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
We don't know anything, but I was assuming they were drinking.
And so it was twenty one, so he's a few
years old and I am so. I was like, okay,
got it. Uh, he's de best man and there's a
simple pl It's just that it's you know, Lorraine is
having second thoughts. We meet Julie, Paul's sister. She's she's
she's the main of honor. They're talking about it. Meanwhile,
(05:13):
the party is going wild. We meet some we meet
more Ramsey, we meet Max Ramsey, who's upset about everything.
It was like, okay, it was it was something, but
I made some notes. First of all, Shane and his speedo.
I was like, okay, Shane Ramsey in herspito uh and
(05:36):
making that leap and it was fine.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
There was humor in the episode, so it was kind
of funny.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Uh. He said Danny to see a doctor, but he
asked them psychiatric questions.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
He gets smart asked with them. It's kind of funny.
He's these nightmares. But the guy who I was like,
this guy looks familiar and he's hot. I'm like, this
guy is hot.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
That is Jim Robinson and I'm like, okay, Paul's dad,
Paul's dad and lit his mom and she she got
her a little dude and she's get both kind of funny.
Think he's cracking jokes. It's hilarious we meet little I
guess their daughter Lucy, which is a younger sister's kid.
But he's just funny. That's Alan Dale. I was like
(06:19):
Holland when he was young. I always thought Alan Dale
was hot period. Now Alan Dale you've seen in many
different things, but most recently I just talked about him
on the show Dynasty CW Dynasty. He played anders he
was that he was, and always thought he was helping
him with a bald head and those pretty like light eyes.
I always thought he was a gooky older man. But
(06:42):
he's played with an accent without an accent. He's done both.
I've seen him in all kinds of stuff and I was
like it was back in the eighties. I was like,
this is I'm looking up right now, see what other
things he's so he's from New Zealand. Did not know
that it was Taurus born May sixth, forty seven. Yeah,
(07:05):
I guess he was on neighbors for a long time.
Did not know that ugly Betty. That's right, ugly Betty.
He played Bradford. He was on X Files, West Wing,
on spot Time. He is I mean Alan Hugh Dale,
that's my he's seventy seven right now.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
The oc he just yeah, he's he's hot.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
I like he's hot, but he's like cracking jokes. Had
a good time and honest a scene where they bring
in Paul after the party is shut down. He's in
a diaper. Also, it's just it's hilarious. The next morning,
same thing with him being that dad kind of rasping
him a little bit because he drank too much. I
get the lighting in here. It's like shining on me,
(07:51):
thanks too much. And it's it's really fun. It's a
it's a it's a funny scene. So you can tell
that family is something else. There's a tripper name Daphne
we learned was there too. She comes back looking for
something the next day and she's there when the when
Lorraine and her parents the kingdoms decide they're not getting married.
(08:16):
That's kind of how it ends. They're not getting married.
That's like, what so that's how it end? So I'm like, literally,
it was like, there's this whole I'm like, okay, I'm interested.
It actually caught my attention and the music everything is
so eighties. I love it. So that's my that's my
reaction to the show. The first, very first episode. It's
(08:37):
a solid first episode. If you go on Amazon, it
says season one thousand, and I found it after I
watched the two episodes for this week. I watched Monday
and Tuesday, which I say, we'll talk about that. I'll
do a review because it's the fortieth week, so I
want to do a review of that too. But you
check it out, and I said, I see it starts
(08:58):
to begetting so I went, you got some some key episodes,
but I gotta I've seen the outtake of where Kylie
Minogue Charlene answers, but I want to watch the whole
episode and see how that phone. And I'll be an
episode coming up to So check out my Neighbors episodes.
Not that not that many episodes, but more coming. You
still check them out where you found this. They are
(09:19):
here to like subscribe comments as you guys do. I'm
the American fan James, like Junior taught to you.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
