(00:02):
I thought it was just something different. Why not a little different. I've
been a TV I've been an oldTV. Remember those TVs. Well in
America we had TV's. I don'tknow how you guys were in Australia,
but hello everybody, this is JamesLodd Junior, the host of the Neighbors
After show here on JLJM, theAmerican host who's learning about the show.
Thank you so much for all thegreat numbers and comments I'm getting from all

(00:26):
of you on my shows, thethe well, the audio version is still
growing, but the video version, you guys are really turn this out.
It's really really wonderful. And I'msorry one second, I'm so excited.

(00:48):
It's it's just it's just so it'sbeen so much fun getting to know the
show, and I want to tellpeople, so here's the thing to start
a new soap opera that's been onfor you, to start to do so
proper that it's been on for along time, and it's not easy to
start right, and it's and it'sbut it's a lot of fun, but

(01:15):
it takes a lot of stuff. So I apologize for some people who may
be like, Okay, James,I'm waiting for you to get into I've
gotten to some of the characters andI'm getting some of the episodes, but
I will start really getting into theepisodes. I am watching them also.
It's just that it's I'm still learning, so I'm sharing with you and those

(01:36):
out there what I learn. Ijust share with you. It's I have
some notes against send your chie Ievery think I'm not Rea sure everything is
in correctly, but I don't.People like you said, so fun watching
you learn about the show, andit is. It's it's a lot of
fun, but it takes a while. You gotta you have to, like
I mean, there's history, andthere's characters and whose house is that.

(02:00):
There's a lot to learn when itcomes to doing these shows. Uh.
But she were recovering up. Uh, so I learned some more stuff about
this show that I just didn't realize. But small recap is that Neighbors of
Course is a long running Australian sothat ran for years and went off the
air for a few years and cameback. So the new episodes are out

(02:20):
now and there are four days aweek. It's it was created by Reg
Watson and it's set in a fictionalMelbourne, Melbourne, Melbourne, and I
I gotta say this certain way suburbof erin Borough. And but it's mainly
about a street which I thought isso interesting. It's very much like Nott's
landing. In America, they havethe cul de Sac Seaview Circle, that's

(02:43):
their cul de sac name. Thisone is Ramsey Street and uh and it's
and so this this one didn't knowbecause I wasn't sure because I was like,
there's how many houses? So thisone has it's it's consists of six
houses and they're I know so andeach kind of family lives in these houses.
Over the years, it featured familieslike the Ramses, which I thought,

(03:07):
of course ran free Ramseys, theRobinson's, the Kennedy's, and the
Bishops. There are also other newother families out there. She also the
main ones. I got to meetone of the main guys, Stephan Dennis.
You can watch my first episode andmy second episode. He's on both
of those. We had a greattime. Plays Paul Robinson, of course,

(03:29):
he has all kinds of types ofrelations. The Kennedy's, Carl and
Susan have been a central couple. And of course I did the episode on
Tony Rebeccy by Ryan Maloney, whois leaving the show. I don't by
the time you read this or watchthis, I'm not sure. But what
we're doing directing stuff behind the scenes. Oh, that's very cool. It's

(03:50):
the one thing that I'm that I'mI'm impressed about this show as I'm watching
some of the older episodes and thenewer ones is how and someone else,
my girl Ethel who's a fan ofthis after the show on the show high
Etholt, did you talk about it? It just shows people. They're all
they're all on even footing, soto speak. It's like it's it's they

(04:13):
all have problems, they all havetriumphs, they all have tragedies. They
it's everyone needs a chance to playwhatever characters. That's what gets me is
like no matter what colorings they are, they're there. Their marriages are happening,
kids are happening, their leads.I'm seeing I was seeing these,
uh you know, some of thesome of the lead younger people, and

(04:35):
I'm like, they're just about there. Like every race basically and also mixed
race. Again, we don't seethat much on our American soaps, and
they're and they're in and they rotatethe stories. They rotate the stories,
they tackle everything. And another thingthat I praised last time was the lgbt
Q I A plus stories they do. They do. They're just part of

(04:57):
the show. They're not made anythingextra or like I mean, they're just
they're part of the show. Sothe characters are allowed to be in which
we always say in America we wantthey're allowed to be. You could be
a gay villain, you'd be astraight villain, doesn't matter. You're just
you're a villain or you're a goodguy. But they they're not afraid to
have lesbian storylines or gay storylines andhaving twists and turns, like they just

(05:20):
give it to them and and tome, it's just presented in a way
that's just very natural the way I'vealways wanted my subs to do. I
want to see South Indians and Indigenousand white and black and we're all just
on Asian, all just all together, just like that's just kind of how
my life is living. I justI love that, of course. I

(05:45):
mean, it's somebody thirty years andtwenty fifteen now saying towards forty years next
year. So if they count theone year or two years I was off,
but it started, and so that'sI'm it's it's it's just that's that's
amazing. It's like our American subs. It's like our American subs. The
shows are a half hour. Theyabout twenty two minutes. They had the
commercials sort of easy to ingest anddigest folks, you're watching it. The

(06:09):
way gets filmed. It's so beautiful. It's like it's very it's like they're
outdoor sets. I know, Isaid it was before. It it just
it's just it's so it looks likea city. It looks like an area,
it looks like a suburb. Andit just it just does looks like
a suburb, like I just itjust does. And I recently had his
whole well the characters Wendy had aparty. It looked like a regular Housemi's

(06:32):
house party, Like you're at ahousewiy in the backyard, and and it
just it just and there's some keypeople on there, and there's some other
folks on there. It's all. It's just it's I'm fascinated by neighbors right
now, just a fat completely fascinated. So for folks at home, you
know, to know this. Itlost the careers of Cottie Minogue, I

(06:55):
know, like Kylieue, Guy Pierceand Jason Donovan, Margot Margot, Robbie,
Liam Hell. It's worth amongst otherswho have been on the show.
And I'm going, you know, because I'm such a Collymno fan. Of
course, I'm doing episode on Charlene. I don't worry. I'm working on
that right now. There's a copepisodes I'm working on that. I want
to make sure they're good for youguys, not just half hazard. So

(07:15):
don't worry that we're talking about thatand stuff, of course, but it
is it's so fun point with askingme neighbors is a date. It's considered
a daytime show. So I knowthat's some soaps in the other countries like
they they do at nighttime and soit's still so basically it's a nighttime soap,
like we we don't really have anynight time soaps anymore. Really like

(07:38):
that we used to have Dynasty inDallas and all that. This is the
daytime soap and so you guys know, I get im made for some ams
we were like what where did thatcome from? It's just wonderful and I
am working on getting more interviews frompeople in the show. It's it's crazy
because I am in America, soand I told people whoever, and if

(08:00):
you're watching the actors or watching producer, I want to talk to you.
I will get up into the morningand talk to you or four in the
morning. This doesn't matter me.I got I'm my own boss. I
will talk to you whenever you're goingto talk to you because I want to
get people in America to know whoyou are. And so we really got
I really want to get that going. So's about that, but that's neighbors.
I just want to talk about that. And uh so I'm going back

(08:22):
and forth. I'm watching new episodesand episodes. But I guess I did
learn this part also before we go, it looks so real. It is
filmed. That's Luna Wadding. Imaybe be saying that correctly. Studios in
Melbourne, and they say the actualexterior city they look so real. The
exterior shots of Ramsey Street are shotin a real life cul de sac,

(08:46):
and Vermont South is called a suburbof Melbourne. And I hear Vermont South.
I live in l a street calledVermont That's not far for me.
It's always laughing like he Vermont's South, so they really So that's why it
looks so real because before because itis for real. There you go there.
So I've been doing I would tryand do a couple of episodes a
week music Mondays and Fridays. Sojust check us out here on JLJ Media.

(09:09):
