Speaker 1 (00:02):
Oh, it's just the Neighbors after show. I'm James Lodging
here in America. I'm then American fan of Neighbors, and
I'm sorry I'm having episodes in a while. I've been
a little, a little busy, but I did. I had
to come back on beause I actually watched the episodes
of Total Leaving. Now. It's funny for me because I'm
a newer fan of the show, but I've watched all
(00:23):
this backstage stuff and his interviews, and I've watched some
old episodes with him and some pivotal episodes with him
in it, and he is it was a major fixture
on this show thirty years, thirty years, and it's amazing
because it's the same actor playing the same roles. And
(00:46):
so that's something that you know soaps. Soaps are for
we of the few mediums that are on continuously for
the decades that can provide that he has a body
of work Ryan Maloney, who plays Tony, in the body
(01:06):
of work that last decades on this show, we watched
him grow up literally and so I want to talk
about his goodbye because to me, it was one of
the best, tightest emotional goodbyes or a character without the
huge theatrics I've ever seen. Actually all the shops, some
(01:30):
people leave town. You don't have to have it, you
don't have to have them die or this the other.
They just leave town. And this show is a half
hour long. So they did two episodes and was mostly him,
but there's also what they mixed in. There's some drama
happening with Hall and the money and all that, so
that was kind of in the background and neither want
(01:53):
to like the pacing and everything neither and then therese
being in the hospital getting out. All of it worked.
I was like, this show literally put it together and
it worked. So you're wonder what episodes they are. There's
season twenty four episodes fourteen and fifteen, or the two
episodes of featuring his goodbye and the attention to detail
(02:14):
is just amazing. Having Tony trying to say really trying
to say goodbye to Carl and Susan Kennedy and two episodes.
I'm just kind of trying to play it off and
be light until the very end when it got to
he presents them with the picture of himself, which was
(02:34):
a nod back to and he explains for newer viewers
they have pictures done with their kids in nine ninety
five by this artist, so he had one done obviously
by different artists, but in the same style. Came with
the ponytail, the mullet, the whole thing. I did. I
think I lost it. I mean I was like, I
was all right, terry eyed most of the episode, just
from just from how well they're doing it. And when
(02:54):
I saw that and they broke down and it's the
same again, the same actors. There's nothing like that. You
can't you can't create. You can't recreate that. When it's
the three same actors who have portrayed these roles all
these years, it's like a gut punch, you see, you
totally feel it. But when they said he went to
(03:16):
a little party for him say goodbye, He's like, he
doesn't want to do the first thing. He does it,
of course, and before that he goes to talk to
he has two has well soon to be two ex wives.
He has an next wife. Still they want to talk
to you. He wants to talk to crazy Melanie, who
just makes me laugh. The actress is so good in
(03:38):
the role. And when he talks to her and she
says she forgives him because he's going through his own crisis.
I mean, it just totally makes sense. He's like, I'm
I'm just like I feel like I'm just not myself
and it's all those things. I was like, I get it.
He's went through a lot. He's like he's having a
midlife crisis, so to speak. He's like he's really thinking
about all this stuff. Another failed marriage. But there they
(04:01):
pull on their history and you know, she always plays
kind kooky or whatever, but she was really serious. She
was like, I forgive me, I forgive you. You need
to forgive yourself. That was a very touching moment and
it felt real and authentic, and it was great having
these fea have we this is this is her marriage,
(04:21):
it's imploding. He's living with the kids. I love how
they include the kids. It was very Hugo and and
Neil and now very much including them. They had moments
with each of their bonus mothers. I thought that was
very sweet, very very sweet. I'm both themselves, So it
was great. They're very much included. We know Nell likes
(04:42):
JJ and that, and so that was kind of a
little side thing going on there. Will they continue the
whole thing there with that very good, realistic. It's like,
you know, probably break up. Who knows what happen because
he's still on the show. But it's like very realistic.
I'm leaving town. We can still do long distance, Like
what the problem. I love it. It's having having Tony
(05:05):
talk to Harold who has left in the Little Wink
week skies, how he has left and he came back.
Later Jane said the same thing. I don't like to
leave and I come back. You don't really leave me
come back, which says, folks, you know, because he's not
dying or anything, he can't come back. But he can't
come back. Oh that was just like they were just
(05:27):
like some attention to detail with all of that was
just wonderful. And episode fifteen when they opened up with
the montage of him, I had tears in my eyes.
I was like, oh my goodness, this show. I mean,
like he just it just it's like it's it's thirty
years mostly of this this character. And that's that's the
(05:47):
beauty again of having the same actor play it. He
grew up on the show, and that is just it
was just amazing to see all different scenes and everything
and having that well also at the end of episode fourteen,
having Melody go talk to Cheres, woman to woman, ex wife,
(06:08):
to see my ex wife. You need to go for yourself.
She was angry. Totally get it. She was angry, and
she has Paul her side, that whole thing when I'm there,
but I get it. I mean she's upset, she's angry,
but I also give him all these sides and so
like that, you have to put this behind you. You
can't beside if you just let him go off like that.
So like will she won't she come? That was a
whole big thing, right, So we got that going on.
(06:32):
They had so they actually had to get together as
an homage to him. Hawaiian shirts, pizza, pizzas look good,
pizzaid me loves pizza. When JJ came in a fake mullet,
my tail, I was left. So I was so funny.
That was cute. It was oh my god, it was
(06:53):
so cute. And him saying by to people, certain people,
him my boy, my boy Lloyd real in real life
Floyd Will but Andrew them saying goodbye and they love
each other, and and him talking to Jane and him
just like going around and just saying as goodbyes, and
him trying to get that present to show, you know,
Carl and Uh and Susan, and he just weren't hearing
(07:17):
it was fine him actually him telling JJ, I was
hard on you as mostly me, you know, come on down,
I may go home a lot. I had a little joking,
joking thing for Dad that was fine to don't talking
about the past and things he's done. They had the
book out. They had a book out and somebody did
(07:39):
the Filia Monty and I was kind of that. I
was watching that. I was an episode the other day
that was fun. But I think the moments that I
said I lost it was when he gave when he
he actually gave the present to them and literally they
went over their history we briefly just like you know,
I saw I knew you as a student, as a teacher,
(08:00):
you know, and he's a lawyers. When I was saying,
you a teacher and you were great, and you took
me into the family. And and even at the very end,
you know, ter shows up, so Paul brings her over
after they would talk and she shows up, and you
can tell it just goes to be something. He's the
world to me, He's everything to me, and he gets
in the car and you're sitting her tears in your eyes.
(08:21):
You're like you saying about everybody, the kids say about
everybody think And that's it. And a little sense of
humor comes out. When Andrew comes out in the Superhero
of the Superhero costume that he had did years ago.
They all pulled their pants man pull their pants down
from trousers nine thousands of thing years ago, and they
shet all this silly string and all, and it's like
(08:42):
that's very cool, Like it was just it was just
such a well done, well done goodbye. Now. I know
a lot of fans I'm seeing online are not happy
with this. They don't know why he's leaving. They don't
been not happy with them. I know that Rivalry actually
is now behind the scenes, is doing directing and stuff
for the show, so he's not gone completely. But also
(09:07):
and he's been on the road in Australia. There was
total on the road which I was in Australia. I
would go see it talking about it. You know, I
don't know. I don't. I don't know a full story either.
I don't have a full story. He put out They
put out that release months ago, which we did. We
topped on the show. But he's gonna behind the scenes.
And you know some people, they just it's okay, they go,
they go behind the scenes. They like we did the
(09:27):
acting thing. They enjoyed directing or writing. But he can
come back like it's like it's like it's noting far
fetched until they come back. The show came back. The
showman came back. But I just, I just I really
want to give it an A plus. And I saw it
was just like and then and then at the very
end episode fifteen, we get the drama of Halls, the
whole money they heard try to sell the car. The
(09:49):
guy was following around, a few select few of them
go to the water hole or whatever, and now they're
being held housage basically, so yeah, something to end. I
was like, okay, well, because life does go off in
Arrasboro continues on, so I'll be watching those episodes. Good.
It was well done and I was very well done.
(10:09):
And we're American fans here, neighbors. I'm so happy about that.
So Saddy left and I said, some tears in my eyes.
Loved it. This is a neighbors averag show where audio
and video. So if you want to just listen to us.
You can on all streams. Audio streaming services for American
fans are still like win are Neighbors. Neighbors is a
(10:30):
great half hour show. So four days a week Monazy Thursday,
and it's on Amazon Free V and it's free. Now
you want to add fee version, you pay some money. Well,
I just range like just to watch it. And then
I think I had one ad or two ads that
was it in the middle of the show and that
was it. H And that's fine, but it's it's so good.
It's other programs when I was on free they're really good.
(10:52):
I want to what's called Primo. You should watch that.
There was a season of that. But it's it's it's good.
The show's good. And I probably have episodes coming. But
everyone take care of yourselves and I'll talk to you
next time.
