Speaker 1 (00:04):
This is Nightline Tonight Breaking News, Aron strikes back what
we're learning, plus Yay shows up, the surprise appearance of
rapper Ya formerly known as Kanye West, showing up to
support Sean Diddy Coombs in trial.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Today.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Normally fans friends line up around the courthouse. We've not
seen that for Shawn Comes.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Why is that?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
As the mogul's former assistant gave salacious testimony claiming he
often bought drugs and made preparations for what prosecutors called
freak as.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
Giving him immunity allows him, in theory, to speak.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Truthfully why one juror could be dismissed and how that
could affect the trial. And cooking for Levi the mini
chef taking social media by storm any.

Speaker 6 (00:55):
By what do you want to make today.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
The culinary adventures of a toddler and his dad enjoying
high end food from his highchair?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
How do you like spending time in the kitchen with
your father.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
And on this Father's Day weekend? Why it's about more
than just whoo.

Speaker 6 (01:16):
I just want him to know that I was around
spending time with him and I will always be there
for him.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
And that's sir David to you. The royal honor bestowed
upon British football star David Beckham and his wife Victoria
Beckham's new title. Yes.

Speaker 7 (01:35):
From ABC News Headquarters in New York, this is Nightline.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
We have breaking news late tonight as we come on
the air. Aroan launching yet another barrage of counter strikes
on Israel after they attacked Iran's nuclear and military facilities,
killing top Irani in generals and top nuclear scientists. Sirens
ringing out in the night, and video showing the moment
of a missile strike into Aviv in nearby Ramont Ghan.

(02:02):
Israel's police said several people were injured and one woman
was killed after rockets and shrapnel fell in the suburbs.
We will have the latest throughout the night on ABC
News Live and of course on GMA in the morning.
For now, we turn to a jaw dropping site outside
the New York City Court where the high stakes trial
of Sean Ditty Combs has been playing out. Yay formerly

(02:25):
known as Kanye West, arriving in dramatic style to show
support at a time when many of Combs's other friends
have been noticeably absent. In the middle of Kanye West,
an unexpected guest in New York Southern District Court today. Today,
rap artist Yay, formerly known as Kanye West, fridays the Porta,

(02:49):
arriving mid morning to Sean Combs's trial. The forty eight
year old embracing Combes's son Christian before they walked into
the courthouse together.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
As if the trial of on Colmbs needed more spectacle,
comes Yay. It caused a bit of a scene, but
once inside the rules of decorum prevailed.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yay has shown his support for the family since Shawn
Combs is arrest, who stands accused of sex trafficking, racketeering,
and prostitution, all charges he denies.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Normally fans friends line up around the courthouse. We've not
seen that for Shawn Combs. Why is that?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I'm looking listen. Why they're not doing it?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Charlucci Finney says he's been friends with Combs for thirty
five years, claiming to be at court every day rain
or shine, often wearing a free puff hoodie. My colleague
Byron Pitt spoke to Finny back in May as the
trial started.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Your friend of Shawn Combs are product one thousand. You've
been seen in court several days wearing as you are
now free puff attire. Why is it important for you
to do that?

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Stands dare you with my brother? And I want the
people that that's scared pretty much or don't want to
come out to support that.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
It's okay the music producer even meeting up with Ye
today in court, But whether Yey's appearance was welcomed by
the defendant's legal team is another question.

Speaker 7 (04:20):
We had overheard one of the defense attorneys telling a
court officer to only let people in who are on
the list, and Kanye West was ushered to an overflow room.
He didn't stay very long. He was in and out
of the courthouse in all of about twenty minutes. Kanye
West is a controversial figure, and if that's the kind
of person that's going to be showing up to support you,

(04:44):
maybe the defense doesn't really want that.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Around the time Yay left, a key witness taking the
stand Diddy's former personal assistant Jonathan Perez, testifying that, contrary
to her testimony the day before, Jane, one of Combs's
ex girlfriends, seem to want to participate in what she
described as hotel knights sexual encounters involving escorts. When asked
by Combs's defense, did it always appear to you that

(05:10):
she was willing. Perez answered yes. He also testified that
he saw a video of Jane having sex with another
man and notified Combs and his chief of staff to have.

Speaker 7 (05:20):
One of Sean Colmes's assistants, who testified he had a
relationship with Jane during his time working for Colmbs would
do errands for her and getting her lingerie in high
heels to have him say that he didn't think Jane
was unwilling to do any of this stuff. The defense
hopes convinces the jury to see things their way.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
In addition, Perez testified that he would often procure drugs
for Combs. When asked by the defense if erans like
procuring drugs or making hotel arrangements were part of his
job description, Perez testified no. Comb's attorney asking you just
did it because you're a nice person. Yes, Perez answered.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
This is key to the the way the case is charged.
Shawn Colmes is accused of conspiring with people that he
employed as part of a criminal enterprise, enlisting his employees
to help him prosecutors allege carry out criminal acts. So
for his assistant to say he didn't think it was

(06:19):
work related to procure drugs for Shawn Combs or to
set up hotel rooms for his sexual knights. That may
help the defense tamp down the accusation that Colmes was
running a criminal enterprise. Jonathan Perez, on redirect examination, made
clear to prosecutors that he was a salaried employee and

(06:40):
that his supervisor told him to set up hotel knights,
and he testified when asked that he had never set
one up of his own volition while on vacation.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Perez was granted immunity by the prosecution for his testimony.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Giving him immunity allows him, in theory, to speak truthfully.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yesterday headline grabbing testimony from Jane.

Speaker 7 (07:01):
The jury heard testimony about a trip to Las Vegas
that Jane, Shawn Combs' ex girlfriend, said she took during
a break in her relationship with Sean Colmes. On that trip,
she flew aboard the private plane of a famous rapper,
and she said she saw a male escort that she
had slept with having sex with the famous rapper's girlfriend.

(07:24):
The judge never allowed the defense to bring up who
the rapper was. The defense sought to show that Jane
was of this lifestyle.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Today court closing as it started in dramatic fashion after
the judge said he was leaning towards dismissing a juror.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
The judge said he dismissed jur number six, a forty
one year old man who said he lived in the Bronx,
because he was inconsistent when answering the basic question where
do you live? He said during jury selection he lived
in the Bronx, Then he mentioned he had moved to
New Jersey, and when questioned about it, he gave competing answers,

(08:05):
and the judge said that raised questions about his candor.
But then three different defense attorneys stood up and objected,
and the judge promised to think about it over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
In addition to the charges Combs is fighting in federal court,
he's also facing dozens of civil lawsuits, the most recent
one filed just yesterday by an ex girlfriend, Chelsea Lovelace.
Combs's legal team telling ABC News, mister Combs has full
confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process.
Mister Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone man or woman,

(08:38):
adult or minor. If Combs is convicted of all federal
criminal charges. He could spend the rest of his life
behind bars. And when we come back, we switch gears
to cooking for Levi, the junior connoisseur of the kit kitchen,
setting social media on fire, one gourmet meal at a time.

(09:11):
Welcome back. Have a names when many kids only want
to eat cereal and mac and cheese. Levi Jang of
Cooking for Levi was trying calamari and crispy Kale chips
and social media is eating it up. Here's my Nightline
co anchor Byron Pits.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Levi Zang is a generous pinch of adorable mixed with
a large dash of four year old playfulness, delightful, smidge
of curiosity.

Speaker 8 (09:39):
Hatch on, this is my favorite, and spoonfuls of culinary
delight A.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
Levi, what do you want to make today good?

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Here's the mini chef who's taken social media by stole.

Speaker 8 (09:55):
Look at this.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Am, It's.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Cooking for Levi. The viral account is followed by one
point seven million fans on Instagram and another million on TikTok.
In the videos, he cooks alongside his father, Jeff, a
forehead chef with ten years experience in the kitchen. How
do you like spending time in the kitchen with your father?

Speaker 8 (10:23):
Wow about.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Really, that's awesome.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
What's the best part of cooking with your dad?

Speaker 8 (10:33):
The best part is cooking the food.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
As soon as his son could eat perade food, Jack
began marrying and blending a variety of ingredients for him,
and when Levi graduated to solids, the chef's cuisine became
even more gourmet.

Speaker 8 (10:50):
Who dreams cooking out say, I don't go here, you go,
here you go.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
That's why our account name is cooking for Levi. When
I started cooking for him when he was around two,
and I was making these fancy, fine dining meals for him,
We've made probably over two hundred or more different.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Dishes, telegenic, extraordinary meals that instantly turned his son into
a foodie and fueled his curiosity.

Speaker 8 (11:18):
How many scallops could you eat one day? To file.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
With an elevated palate from his high chair, It's just
a apple that can rival any adult. Roaring too.

Speaker 9 (11:37):
Excessively, twelves old, stop it leave I even catching the
attention of one of the culinary world's toughest critics.

Speaker 8 (11:48):
Hello, this is not going to Levi surely.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Michelin starts, Chef Gordon rams, well done, you'll off. Oh
my god, this is earning admiration from the usually sharp
tongue britt.

Speaker 9 (12:00):
Mussen junior, Junior junior, coming your way soon, shoes.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
What every master chef starts as a sous chef, Levi
is his dad's chopping, phenomenal stirring doing math at three twenty?

Speaker 8 (12:17):
How many more degrees for three fifty.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Three?

Speaker 7 (12:25):
Nice?

Speaker 4 (12:26):
How'd you get so good at doing math?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yay?

Speaker 8 (12:28):
You taught me so I want some one my own,
and I know how to come by fives, tens, twos
and ones nice and hundreds thousands.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
He's also his dad's chief taster.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
They's so rich and so tea.

Speaker 8 (12:45):
I couldn't it just Allgod, from morning tonight, from eight
o'clock to a plot.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Every minute an opportunity for father and son to spend
quality time together and bond I like, I like talking
to you what to do for your heart as a father,
to do something that you love and see your boy
next to you enjoying and loving the same thing.

Speaker 6 (13:08):
I didn't really have a father figure growing up. When
I was young, I always knew like I wanted to
be there if I had a child, and now that
I have Levi, I'm so glad that I have this
opportunity to spend so much time with him and to
share this passion.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Co raised by a single mother and his grandparents. Extravagant
meals were part of Jack's DNA.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
My grandmother would put for my sister and me gourmet
dinner every single night with many different dishes. And his
love language if you can provide really comforting, really delicious
food for someone, it's almost like a big, warm hug.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
And as his son grew older, so has his role
in the kitchen. For the record, you and Levi are
fancy with the foods, did you guys prepare?

Speaker 6 (13:53):
It's evolved into him wanting to help me cook. So
now we don't really do too much of like the
fine dining plated kind of stuff. We just try to
cook fun, delicious meals that he can help me with.
I encourage kind of making a mess and having fun
with the food.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Levi has staggeringly impressive kitchen skills. Through all the fun,
Levi learns more than just cooking.

Speaker 6 (14:21):
Oh yeah, that is just a nice little life skill
to have. There's a lot of math, science and confidence building.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Emmy, an English professor, is Levi's mom. She says that
Tod has no idea just how famous he's become.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
Levi does get recognized in the streets sometimes, and at
first he had no idea what was going on because
we don't we try not to make a big deal
about it. We don't talk about the channel very often.
But when people come up to him and say, like,
oh my god, it's Levi, it's the little kid who cooks,
it's so exciting. We have to tell him, you know,

(14:57):
people love watching your videos. It makes the I'm really
happy to see you and daddy cook together.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Levi's big personality took her and her husband by surprise.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Sometimes Levi is such a big energy that it's like
shocking for introverted parents. Levi's energy is always ten out
of ten?

Speaker 8 (15:15):
Where are real lead? Simmy's bite Mama got are green pepper?

Speaker 5 (15:24):
You eighty?

Speaker 8 (15:25):
I eighty I'm tag my hair bro.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Jack credits Emmy for Levi's extensive vocabulary and creativity. The
family is beyond tight knit.

Speaker 5 (15:39):
The bond that they have is very genuine, and it
goes beyond just the kitchen. They're able to go shopping,
together and pick out ingredients together, and there's always something
to talk about between the two of them.

Speaker 8 (15:51):
Look, it's gone away opened. I'll never forget this.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
I'm putting it on.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
When Levi is thirty three years old and he looks
back and he sees these videos, these memories of him
and his father, What do you hope.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
He takes from him that I was around spending time
with him, and I will always be there for him.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
For Jack and so many fathers on this Father's Day
helping to write their children's story is a rewrite of
their own.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Our thanks to Byron when we come back. David Beckham
receiving the royal honor he's been dreaming of for years.
