New York.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I love you, I love you.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Oh, it's trying to get out the fires a life.
It's over the way at the further dollar to curry
back there a dollar. I'm laugh home fuck like James Lebron,
James with the rejection, just puts.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
It the three long go.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
We talk Bash stack out to all his require yea,
what's going on? People? Welcome back to another episode of
the Off the Ball podcast from me your hopes, pres Lebron.
On today's show, we got a good one for you, guys.
We're gonna talk about all things Summer League, all things

(01:18):
Nicks on the pod. Today got for the first time
on the pod, my guys stayed from from New York.
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Bro?

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah it was good, Bro. That's everything man, good Sunday.
You know, everybody families is out right now. I'm about
the hands of the family business. But I'm killing right now.
So let's talk to Nicks.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Let's do it. Let's do it. So obviously, some of
the league is concluded for the Knicks, so a couple
of interesting prospects that the Knicks had obviously some guys
they drafted last year, some guys they picked up this year,
you know, der WAA and and think pay. So what
was your expectations first of all going into some of
the league. What were you thinking about? You know, what
was your thought process?

Speaker 4 (02:03):
You know, for some eleague, theod we had the most
talented like team. Of course, you're a nick fan. But
at the same time, I wanted to see progress from
individual players in sumer League.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
And I've seen some things I like.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
I've seen certain things I didn't like, but overall, I
felt like their records should have been better than one
and four. I attributed to directly, like players just playing selfish.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
A little bit.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
And you know, sometimes when you got a bunch of
players who's playing for contracts, a bunch of players who's
vying for two to three roster spots, you get selfish
play at times, and you know, that's what I chalk
it up to. But outside of that, my expectations was
to see certain young players get better and look better.

(02:58):
I guess we'll get into that, but outside of that, like,
not too much, bro, because this is a championship team.
In this team, well, this is a championship driven team
right now. And this team needs specific kind of players
to fit into their system because when your best players
carl athrough Towns and Jalen Brunson, you need certain kind

(03:22):
of players. So that's what I was looking for some
of it. And yeah, I found a couple of players
in my eyes that you know, stood up.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I like that you brought up that about just when
players are fighting for the NBA lives, that it's going
to be a different type of basketball, right, you know,
guys that kind of look for their own right.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I know it's a team, it's a team game.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
We know that.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
But hey man, there's only a few spots. You know,
like you said, this is a championship caliber team, so
there's only a couple of spots that are there. So like,
how do you And I mentioned I talked about this
on a few times in my pot, like how do
you balance that? Like that balance of act for a
coach or players, like trying to balance playing team ball.
But I got to show out because I want a

(04:08):
rous spot, or at least show out for another team
that could pick me up on the two or whatever,
you know, So that balancing act. I think there was
a big especially the first few games where it was nasty, right,
it was nasty basketball, Like I think that's that. I'm
glad you brought that up because that's a big thing.
Like when guys are trying to fight for the NBA lives. Man,
it's you know, you might not see the best basketball,

(04:29):
you know, especially playing against other guys who were in
the same boat.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Yeah, you got a guy like Tyler Coolk who's playing trash.
To put it nicely, it's gonna be tough for the
other guys to get their own shots. So that's why
I got like pcole Daddy. He had seventeen points one game,
I know, the other game he's every pedestrian, and then
he was out with injury. It's kind of tough the
galag guy like you know, you know, no, not even

(04:58):
ty Colic, a guy like Mohammed Dau and those guys.
When Tyler Kolak is on the court playing like garbage.
He played better in the last couple of games, but no,
that wasn't enough in my opinion, I just felt like
Tyler Kolak undersized guard. We don't need that right now. Uh,
with the Knicks need as players like thing paid Muhammed

(05:20):
the Hour like what they did in the league. James
Nanji still too young, still too broll.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
He's super ross.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah, there's no up and down Summer League. I'm Kevin mccullor.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Love loved the Summer League, but then love it played
very selfish.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
A lot of.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Guys on his shots that he shot was wide open.
I know he had thirty points one game. I didn't
even like the three point game. I've even judged Jalen
Brunson in the games when he scored thirty Mm hmm, bro
your ball hogging. I don't got to off for that.
So that's how I fucked with him and be champion.
So you get when you get that, you're going to
selfish play. But outside of the selfish play, Ding Paint

(06:05):
and mom at the Hour showed the most promise to
me to the point where I'm like, Yo the Hour
and Ding Paipe they should be in the rotation.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Pcaul he should be.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
In the rotation.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
But Nick Scott so many pieces they got a strong
I mean right now, hopefully ten so we'll see.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
So obviously, you know you mentioned Tyler and he was
someone that's gonna have a big, potentially a role on
this team being the backup point guard, so you wasn't
really thrilled about his performance. And similarly, from what it
sounds like, no, but you know is a sister. Turnover
ratio was good, his percentages weren't good. He missed a

(06:45):
lot of open that to me, the one concerned thing
is the missing the wide open shots. It's like, that's
one thing if you're contested. I get that you can
miscontested shots. You know, Like I said, he's undersized, but
he missed a lot of open like wide open, like
it was like nobody was near that. That was a
little bit concern Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Yeah, yeah, under thirty five percent from the field, under
twenty percent from three, Yeah, it's gonna be tough for you.
On the other hand, when I got a guy like
getting paid and I'm like, yo, how is his shooting?
He shot forty percent from the field. The one thing
that stood out though he shot fifty percent from three,

(07:27):
he shot well basically eighty nine percent from the free
throw line. So the jumps out is there, even though
it's unorthodox. And then the rebounding. He have a six
point eight rebound, so like the rebounder is there. And
then the sisters. They are like two point eight sis.
I know the team shot humble from three. Nobody did
him terrible.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, that was another thing too. Overall the team they
could they was breaking everything wide open too. It was
that was steppens me off.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah that starts. That starts with your point God though socialated.
You know you got bad point guard play and please
and everything. And I love what I see from thing
pay So I say, twenty to.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Ten your last game, you seeing you. Hey, I can't
get back at that.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
So let's let's talk about thinking. Because I was I
had him as a draftable guy like you had him
top fift, top sixty on my board. I know you
do some some some draft stuff to yourself. So did
you have did you have any evaluations of him? You know,
three draft? Did you know much about him?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
No? I did not. Once the next picked him up.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Because what I've been wanting from the drive is, yeah,
you got to go for the high upside guy. Bro,
you can't go for these older guys and like Kevin
McCullough junior, that's TIBs.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Written all over him.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
To col TIBs call him back that he's probably even TIBs.
But you know, we got Mike Brown this shire. You notice,
like the pick, we got the hour and thing paid
tall as all athletic got some playmaking ability, right, uh
think paid. I think he played like fifty plus games
professional before Summer League team.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
So yeah, he was at the he was with the
Ignite and then when that got the funk and he
went to Mexico City and the numbers got better with them.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
So so he was someone that I was intrigued about
because the upside, you know. And then and you know,
people look at it and look at his splits and
I tell people like sometimes splits you know stats especially
you know, playing playing overseas their college, they could lie.
You know, everything has context to it. And I was like,
you got to read more into it. And his situation

(09:47):
wasn't ideal, you know, with the G League, that was
a whole mess. Obviously they're not even around them or
they Ignite, you know, it's not even a thing in
thee in Mexico City. Like I remember talking to someone
who knew a lot about him, you know, and they
will like, yo, that he played better, but it's like
that situation was wild playing in Mexico, Like just imagine
again you're you're a teenager and you got to go

(10:08):
play in Mexico, you know, and this car and you know,
Cartel's stuff. He was telling me crazy stories about it.
I was like, that's that was wild, you know. But
he did get better, a lot better, you know, you know,
the splits were still low, but he's still improved from
shooting like thirty five percent in the G League with
the ignite from shooting like low Fortyes, and like you saw,
the potential was there, and you know, he was a

(10:29):
gym rat, so he was someone I was really intrigued.
And like you said, the next team were athletes, you know,
we need more athlessm you know. And with getting you know,
Mohammad d Oar and getting Denk, you know, they added
us and with high upside too, because like I said,
we we took a bunch of guys who were four
year guys last year, you know, and Pacoma was more

(10:50):
as a project, but we needed we need to get
some high you know, upside guys and see if if
they could hit, you know. And and and why I
was I didn't have I wasn't I didn't know too
much about Muhammad r. But I knew that that was
a strictly upside type of pick, and I'm sure you
were thrilled with what you saw for him, especially offensively,
which is the one spot. People were like, that's the

(11:12):
one thing that he's going to struggle with early on.
But I mean, I know you saw he looked pretty
comfortable with with the with the rock in his hand.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah, he showed flashes.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
The percentages were still garbage fifteen point four percent from three,
but I love the attempts from three, like the step
back three attempts. The fact that he has the confidence
to even take that that.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Was cool to me.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Now forty percent from the field, I think that's attributed
to bad point on play. He averaged twenty two point
three minutes per game summer point rebounds. The things that
you like though, the five point three rebounds, you know,
you love that he can muck it up in one
point eight assists, right, love the one still per game

(11:58):
two No, I think it was one still one point
three stills per game.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
It was one of the two.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Anyways, zero blocks in Summer League. He is too tall
to have zero blocks. I think that's what you need
to his hands being down.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
He does play low. He does play low.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yeah, like he should be way more vertical.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
I think you know that that should be the main
job in next management to get him to play more
vertical and perimeter threat. Like he showed the coach the
coast game. You know, grab the rebound, go coast to coast,
get still, go close to the coast.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
I like that. I like that. I like his skill
set too.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Not a shot block at all. Yeah that's not Yeah,
like that's tough. That's tough for me.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
I can't have that next to call any towns exactly. Yeah,
but I can.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
If he could develop it. He could always develop at twenty.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Do you think he can? Do you think he can though,
because he has he has the wingspan. He's got like
a seven to five wings fan he six eight. You're like,
have you seen enough to be like, okay, that's something
with Eventually, maybe a few years, he could develop being
that a room protector.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Yeah, it's gonna take some time, though, You're gonna have
to d I.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Didn't see it. I didn't see much of it, you know,
And I said, it's just summer League, it's only a
few games. But I didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Right now, Yeah, I see, I like to.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
Zero blocks, like you're mad tall, Like that's like mouse
getting no rebounds like that.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
I have an issue with that.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Yeah, And another thing I like fromim is the playmaker.
Like I saw a lot, especially in that first game.
He had that pass to Luca Scooka, Like that was like, okay,
I didn't expect that. So there's some of that, especially
in the high post. And we'll talk about Mike Brown,
Like he likes to work a lot of his bigs
in the high post. So that was very intriguing to
see that aspect of his game. Like I said, I

(13:53):
didn't expect a lot offensively from him, and he wound
up showing me being more oppressive offensive than he was defensively,
you know, which is And I said that was it
was supposed to be the opposite. But you know, but
go back to think he was really impressive. I think
he did a lot better, you know, than I even anticipated.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I didn't.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
I didn't know how much they would feature him because
obviously the focus is going to be on mcclor's is
going to be on cold, going to be on comb
like there guys they drafted you know, the Auara. But
I think thinks, like you said, he could rebound the
ball if the SHOT's not going. Now he's gonna be active.
You know, he's gonna get the ball. Didn't attack, you know, defensively,
did some good things. You know, so a lot of

(14:35):
things that people were so stressed about with him why
he didn't go drafted, which I still I think he
was a draftable player. He was impressive, man, And it
makes you think. And I told people before this, and
a lot of people were like, why are you hyping
up a guy that was on draft? I was like,
because you really got there's something there. I see it
as like, if we could develop them properly, there's something

(14:55):
really dead state, Like there could be a rotational player,
Like there's something. And I think you see the vision too,
like if he's if he is properly handled, this could
be something. This could be something. And again him as
an undrafted dude, like that's and he's a I talked
to a lot of people, They're like, he's a top
twenty talent in this draft. He's talent alone, he's top twenty.

(15:16):
But obviously, you know, everything that transpired, you know, he
wound up leading him to not getting drafted. But I
think there's something there and he showed out. I think
he was really impressive.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Hopefully hopefully they play him off the gate. That's hoping
for man.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
But there's hope now, right because with Tims you would hell,
hell no, he ain't. He got no chance of zero,
zero point zero chance of playing. But with Mike Brown,
is like he might maybe not off the rip, but eventually,
you know he might. He might get some minutes, some
real minutes.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Hopefully hopefully we'll see Man. I like the talent.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Mike Brown was front road, so if he got the
same as a lot of us seeing, Hey, you need
a sound like that on the roster. Man is the
Knicks roster right now. They just avoid the playmaking and
guys that could triple the basketball.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
No.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Two main skills that this Knicks roster and I love
I love his talent. Love what he did on both
sides of the ball, very active, rebounded by the way.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
And shot the both pretty solid for a guy that
people were complaining about can't shoot. You know, I know
the shots funky, but I don't really care how the
shot looks. Does it go in? Because cold shot is
is all right, you know, looks good, but it didn't
go win. So you know that's my You know so well,

(16:47):
Mike Brown's the new head coach. Man Tips is gone.
I know you're happy about that. Well, first of all,
how did you you know, what was your initial reaction
when you heard that Mike Brown was going to be
the new head coach. Did you do any any deep
diving into the offense and you know, try to vision
what the team caposit look like with Mike Brown being
the head coach.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Now, I did little Princeton offense who were in us
LA action run a lot of dhls.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Mike Brown is he was like tenth on my list.
I wasn't really high on Mike Brown.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
I didn't want no retrad coach, but I can understand
why you go get Mike Brown.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
H you know, three on I think how many wins
Mike Brown got a seventy plus?

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, in that range.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
He's been an assistant head coach, head coach with Lebron
on Cleveland. I know, he's been a head coach on
the Lakers. He's been a head coach for the Sacramento Kings. Ah,
then the various stops. He's had like the most effective
offense of all time at one point with the two

(18:00):
twenty two, twenty twenty three, Kings has a good playoff
record percentage that I really like the people that say, oh.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
He lived off Lebron. I mean, hey, you need great
players to win the.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Right I hate when people say that, like yo, like
Phil Jackson needed good players, Like of course, yeah, that's
how you win, legal players to win championships.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
It's the name of the game.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
But you know, it wasn't too really too high on him,
but after my research on him is I like what
I've seen. So it's it's a wait and see season
for me. But he's not the guy that's Championship of Bus.
It's really Leon Rose because Lion Rose got a chance
to change the roster again, because this is not a
Mike Brown roster.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
This is still a TIBs.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
Roster, and that's the reason why there's no athleticism and
it's a lot of nepotism going on with the roster,
and there's gonna have to be to a point where
Leon Rose is going to say the hell with this
and trade some of Jaln Brunt's guys in order to
get what he needs. Because like the Villanova Championship, it's cool,

(19:08):
you know, yeah, like basketball has played differently, like I
need somebody who could score the basketball, put the ball
in the mm hmm. You know, nepotism. It's a lot
with this roster. But Nick sill get it right. I
think LEL Roh is gonna do right. I think you're
gonna do trade whatnot just to get a playmaker really

(19:31):
on the roster.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
That's what he needs. So that that's gonna transition to
My next thing was the Nicks roster itself, and obviously
with Mike Brown it's it's gonna be it's a completely
different offense. Now on the tenths is essentially you know,
Brunson do your thing, high pick and roll cap you
know this ISO ball right, and now you're gonna have
you know, and a coach that's actually gonna run sets.

(19:54):
You know, I said a lot of a lot of
UCLA sets and all that. You know, a lot of motion,
a lot of actions, you know, a lot of you know,
so there's gonna be a lot more So, do you
feel that the Knicks need to make a and I've
seen you on Twitter be that said that the Knicks
need to make some big happen. So do you do
you feel like and do you what is that move?

(20:15):
If you think they need to make a big move.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
I have no idea.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Now it's quiet on the Gianna's front, quiet on the
Lebron front.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Yellow ain't getting traded. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (20:27):
I don't know what they're gonna do. I'm not trading
Michael Bridges for Kobe White.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
So like it's I don't know, bro.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
If you'd asked me this like two weeks prior to today,
I probably would have gave you a better answer.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
But as well as right now, I think they're just
going to run it back.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
I think I don't know, but the Rolls probably still
has to rap it up his sleeve because you just
can't run it back with this roster. They don't have
no playmaking. Who's playmaking like that? That's the one thing
that aggravates me with this ross like they got think.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
I'm with you, bro, I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
So that's the one thing, that's the one thing they
are missing outside of that. Yeah, he got everything else, Yeah,
everything else. Mike Brown got everything else to succeed. I
just don't think he got enough ball hand on that's all.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
So I agree with you. I think they're gonna run
it back. But it is a championship for Bus. Though,
if you're run in the back and you got a
couple of upgrades on the bench with Clarkson and Sy,
you expecting the young guys take another step, Like is
it championship for Bus? And does that put us in
a you know, a tough position where listen, the East

(21:43):
is is kind of wide open. We know Boston they
just made a bunch of moves. Tatum is probably gonna
be out for the season. The Pacers one went away
from a finals, but now that team looks completely different
than it did. You know, So the East is you know,
I know the Magic made a move, they got Desmond Bine.
You know Calves have what they have. You know, they
were the number one seedon So is it you know,

(22:04):
is it you know wide open that they're like, man,
it's championship or bust?

Speaker 2 (22:08):
You know?

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Is that the that the mosque not for Mike Brown?
It is for Leon That's what I'm saying, because like
they can have two different minds, Like Mike Brown could
be like, all right, I got I got the envision
for like two years, but Leon could be like, yo,
I can you know this is this?

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Is it? Mm? Hmmm. Gotta have it for five you
get TIBs five years.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
So we're only gonna be fed.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
Well, you know, it's New York, bog is New York.
So like if we don't you know, you know, if
it's anything less than what we did this year, you know,
conference finals.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
You know, they notice that's leon why you didn't make
a trade. Yeah, you got Mike Brown with TIBs roster.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Yeah, because Josh Hart specifically, I don't think Josh Hart
fits Mike Brown. I think Josh Hard as a TIMS guy.
I don't think he fits Mike Brown at all. So
but but do you but like like you said, like
do you do you ruin that dynamic? Because that Brunson's guy.
So trade Brunson's guy, and now Brunson is gonna be feeling.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Traded.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
But there's there's probably levels to the Brunson tree of
and I think Josh are probably higher on that on
that you know guys, his guys. But you know, do
that do you ruin that?

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Then?

Speaker 1 (23:33):
I think there it's a little bit of a touch
situation with that stuff. That's the thing. Don't lead the championships.
I know, I'm with you, I agree, But do they
want to upset a guy who took a pay cut,
a massive pay cut, you know, state like he took
a massive cut, like obligated him.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
Yeah, you ain't take a pay cut to pay mccount
not good enough. So that was a so fun to
even take a pay cut.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
I thought that that was crazy. I didn't expect that.
I remember, I thought he was taking every dollar human
the possible. You take that. Oh and now the expectations.
Everybody got to take a pay cut now except for
og Og got his breath. He said, now I'm good.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
I'm not taking a pay cut. Yeah, I got leverage. Michael,
I'm not taking a pay cut. Okay, you need to
get traded.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
There because I don't I don't know, man, I don't know.
Do you upset Brenon? It's a good question.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
That's the thing that that's what I'm thinking, Like, Yo,
do they you know? I said, I don't think Josh's
fits what Mike Brown does. But do you do you
try to do you mess up more out if you
trade him? That that's my thinking. I don't know, I
don't know you want to mess that up?

Speaker 4 (24:50):
That's a that's a way to see question. That's that's
a lion Rose. But it depends, Yo, it depends. It
depends on what Leon Rose want to do.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Bro. To be honest with you, like, yeah, I don't
have a definitely answer right now for that.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
What do you think Leon's thinking right now? What do
you think Leon's thinking? He's thinking he's just sitting back
in the cut, He's just waiting. No, like like you
mentioned your fall, the east is open, let's just or
do you think he has something potentially up his sleeve?
Hopefully he's a mystery man, like we don't know. He
don't talk, so we don't know.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Hopefully making calls, man, that's the least I could.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
I could, you know, pray for hopefully making calls and
he ain't sleeping in restaurant.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
On his marvels.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
It's the least I can hope for, Bro, because at
this point you don't have another playmaker and you still
kind of need to rest to show like the wing
position just in case. So he got two jobs and
they got tough decision to make. But I think he'll
make that decision before September. First I saw like East

(26:00):
Day that goes by, I'm like, oh, he ain't resigned
Michel nonean yet I know what's going on.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
So when come to Leon, yeah trust him now. If
you don't make a trade.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
And then Knicks don't get to the finals, my first
question is like, why would you even have Mike Brown
with a Tims roster? Mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
So that's why I'm met with it.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
When it comes to like Mike Brown and no expectations,
expectations for Leon, Leon's championship or bus for you, it's
up to you to go get a playmakers, not up
to Mike Brown. Mike Brown might ask for somebody, so
who knows, who knows Within the next week, you might
ask for somebody.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
No new coach comes into a new team without somebody
who has already played under him.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Yeah, that's how that goes.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Mm hmm. I think I think maybe they're just they
wanted to see how Summer League went, just to see,
you know, maybe you know, especially to Tyler and all
these other guys, see how that goes, and then sit
down in the lab and be like, Okay, I don't know.
Maybe Mike Brown's like, I don't feel comfortable with Tyler
being the primary backup to Jalen, So what do we do,
and we gotta pretend we got another Ben Min's spot

(27:15):
up for grabs, you know, do we try to find
someone that could take that spot? You know, because I feel,
like I said, I like Tyler a lot, but if
I'm the front office, I'm thinking, Okay, we need to
get somebody else in here, you know, like I said,
a playmaker. So and I know you you've been big
on this one guy, and that's mister Ben Simmons, And
we know what he could do, you know, in the past.

(27:37):
So why do you feel like Ben Simmons would be
a good piece for this New York Nicks tame.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
And played multiple positions one through five. He can generate
three point shots.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
He did at a hot clip. That's the first couple
of years in the league.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
So those two mainly, I know that the men's who
is not right and he goes to defend as well.
He put him out there will hold you a mical.
Now you got a guy who could get into the
land constantly. I think that'd be a great move for
the New York Knicks. Shouts to Jake Fisher because he
already reported that New York Knicks is still checking it
on Ben Simmons trying to see what he's gonna do,

(28:13):
so hopefully, but for the next twenty five hours the
Knicks pick him up, and then now we're looking at
the team and we're like, oh, okay, now we're we're
building something now. But I think even if you do
pick up Ben Simmons, I think you probably still would
have to make an.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Mm hm.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
I like Ben Simmons, Okay, Ben Simmons, Jordan Clarkston, Josh
Hart Garasania Buselli.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
No, that don't work. That don't work.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah, it's kind of tough. Yeah, so did you did
you like the pickups of Clarkson?

Speaker 4 (28:51):
And yeah, those pick ups was great. Both shoot above
forty for free so on above a break three. So
that's what you like to see, as long as you
get some shooters in and guys who's tall.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
He's not under six foot five. Yeah. I was good
with it.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Yeah, was on my radar as well. Could play backup, center,
back of pop forward, back, and small forward. So you know,
Jordan clarks didn't play some shooting. He played shooting guard.
He plays some point guard, but you don't want playing
point guard the whole time because you know he don't
pass yeah, yeah, I like that pick up though, Yeah,

(29:28):
I like the yasel pick up a special.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
I thought he to me, he's he's a player that's
probably double his salary, you know, but obviously the market
kind of dried up, which for everyone in the market
dried up, like you know, this year nobody had captured face.
So you know, I thought he was a twelve fifteen
million dollar player and we got him for you know,
half that, So I thought that was a good vale
and then Clarkson, listen, we got him for what he got.

(29:50):
You know, he's not a he's not an efficient player,
but for for a guy, for a vet men, to me,
it was it was worth a shot we could use.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
You know.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
It's an upgrade over campaign you know in Landry Sham
in my opinion. So to get a guy in for
that that, I didn't really wasn't tripping too much about that.
But ye, opportunity too brings toughness too. We need a
little bit more toughness too, you know, we got to
get a little more to I think we lost a
lot of toughness when Devo and Julius left, you know,
and I think it took us a while to get

(30:20):
that get that swagger back maybe to Detroit series where
they you know, there's they was really get into us.
So I thought, you know, we lost a lot of
toughness when those two left.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Yeah, we definitely did. But we definitely see next season
tough the Knicks really are. It's a lot of pressure.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
I go put that.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
So what is your So what what's your overall feel
right now? What's what's the vibe right now for you man?
With with this New York team, next team right now?
Because we ain't gonna see much action for a little bit.
You know, some of league is over, you know, so
you know there's gonna be a lot of downtime. So
what's what's your feeling?

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Like?

Speaker 1 (30:56):
How are you feeling entering this twenty five twenty six
season with this squad?

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Give me another playmaker and I take you serious.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Let me hear reports that Muhammada or Daddy is crushing
in practice.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
And the rookie got reps with the starters. That's what
I want to hear.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
So or give me a trade, but I'm intrigued. A
lot of downtime. Hopefully Leon Rose gets.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
In a lab. Hopefully he's in a lab right now.
I'm open I think he's in the lab right now.
So SATs Leon Rose.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
Doing doing doing the correct move this summer and hopefully
we'll see I think they're gonna make another move within.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
The next two weeks.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
I think then, how big of a move. We're talking big,
big move.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
On a couple of small moves.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
Uh No, I think they're gonna make a big move.
They're gonna trade like a couple of players. Because Miquel
not being signed, that means that if you sign him
right now, not gonna be able to trade him for
the next six months, You're not gonna.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Be able to trade him. Six months, ain't no way
to resell him.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
So I'm looking at it six months after right, it's
six months after you signed someone, right, you can't. So
that's that brings you to after the trade leg I'm
not doing all you think they do. You think they're
gonna resign them. You think they're gonna resign them, What is.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
It for for? I'm not doing that.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
I'm not doing it either. I know we gave up, listen,
I'm I hated that we traded. I'm I don't know
if you know, but I love two picks. I'm a
picks guy. I think you've got to develop guys, you know,
through the draft. So when we when we traded all
those picks, I was.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Hurt.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
That hurt, But you know, I still trying to value
like is he still worth four for one forty? Like?

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Is he that?

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Like I don't know, that's that's tough. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Yeah, definitely don't know.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
But my thing is, like, is everything predicated around making
JB happy? Because if you don't sign, re sign McHale,
Like that's all that's I keep thinking about that aspect
like it used to be, Like I used to think
about the roster, like how does Tips? Who's goo fits Tips?
And now I'm like, all right, what what's gonna make
JB happy? If you trade? If you trade heart? Is

(33:16):
that gonna upset if you don't resign McHale's Like, is
that the mindset?

Speaker 2 (33:21):
You know?

Speaker 1 (33:21):
That that's There's a lot of things I've been thinking about,
little things.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Like that, friendships, the eating championships.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
I agree, I'm with you, I agree, man, But it's
a unique situation though.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
If he gets mad, that's on him. I'm no, you're right,
that's right. I'm mad with it, yo. Yeah, I'm Jalen too,
but he gets mad. That's on him.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
I'm not here to piece him. I'm here to win
a championship. I hope that's limbs and.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Yeah, and listen, he's had some really good years and
now you know he goes from everybody loves him. But
now it's like, okay, bro, you know, we had a
couple of solid years. We made the conference finals. You know, like,
hey man, it's it's time to show us that, you know,
you want to be considered one of the elite players
in the league. You gotta, you know, you gotta, you

(34:18):
gotta show out. So now the pressure for him is
different now than it was when he first got here
or even this last year, Like the pressure is gonna
be off it, like, hey can you can you be
a championship level you know point guard now? You know,
because we see Hallie took his team to the Listen,
if Hallie don't get hurt, you know, because he was
cooking at first, that's game seven versus okay, see, like

(34:40):
we could be talking talking about different things. So like,
you know, you know, there's there's a lot of pressure
on him too to take you know, to make that
next step.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Mhmm.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
We'll see definitely.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
It's it's it's it's it's interesting times right now. So
do you have any faith in the young guys, you know,
making any contributions to this team.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
Yeah, it's something Mike Brown. Mike Brown got to play
the young boys. Gotta play the young boys. Can't do
can't do the tip real thing, no more enough. Gotta
go do different philosophy, different flow, different or different waves.
So hopefully this year, this upcoming season, Mike Brown plays
some young guys, and hopefully the Knicks make a trade,
a consolidation trade and make their roster, you know, bring

(35:29):
you know, make it look more athletic. That's what you
need around Brunson. And yeah, I'm confident. I'm confident Mike Brown.
Man confident Mike Brown. First time we all see his
own I think we'll all be happy.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
So that's yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
And just with open space, like the way he likes to,
you know, play up and down. I think, you know,
with some of the league, you know, especially with COOLK
and all of these guys, like they're playing in a
lot of you know, the lanes are cloud up, you know,
especially when guys ain't making shots. You know, the lanes
get get tighter. So I think we're the more open space.
I think those guys actually look better, you know. And
then they say, now we got you know, potentially d

(36:04):
o R. You know, you got a lot more athletes too,
So you know, I think, I know a lot of
people are down on the young guys after you know,
the Summer League, but you know, I feel like contacts
is key and I think they'll be I think they'll
be better than I think. I think Tyler would be better,
you know, playing you know, in a more fast paced,
you know, up tempo type of style with Mike Brown.

(36:26):
So I feel comfort and I said, I'm with you.
I feel good. I think leons, you know, cooking something potentially,
you know, I feel like I like the Mike Brown.
It wasn't you know, the sexy higher. It wasn't my
first choice. But you know, they felt like they just
needed to get an established coach and not try to

(36:47):
you know, they need to make a pivot. I agree
with the pivot from from tips to move on. You
know a lot of teams have done this pivot. You know,
we've seen Toronto done it. They did it in the nineteen.
We've seen the Warriors do it. We've seen a few
teams do it and it's led to you know, you know,
for good things. So hopefully we're in that same boat
where you know, we're we're following those two teams footsteps
and we you know, we're holding that trophy. But we'll

(37:10):
see what any any closing thoughts when we signed off, brother.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Leon, make a trade.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Predictions, any any boat predictions, any anything you know, we
want to you know, putting it up in the air now.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
I think Leon is going to make a trade this summer.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Things gonna make a trade this summer for sure, you know,
shout out the next wild appreciate.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
They surprised us with Cat. They surprised it with Cat
last year.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
So I think we make a trade this summer. Just
just wait on it.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Okay, it's gotta be paid that listen. Think the Cat
thing happened what a couple of weeks before the season
started or something like that, close to the season, so
you know, still got a lot of time left. But
but stay, I appreciate you coming on the pod bro
last year. Fun been trying to do this for a
little bit for a while and finally got you on.
Before we sign off, tell the people where they could

(38:06):
find you any projects going on.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
You know floor is yours, Yo, they know where they
could find me.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Man, be more like state type the state of New York,
Knicks and Google. I got another state article coming today,
Substack go to talk about the Nick Summer League in
that article and the standouts.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
I know the Knicks.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
We still got two to three more roster spots going,
so hopefully the Knicks get that hashed out. I'm gonna
give my three people who I think those rotter spots
should go to. Got new merch coming out next week.
I know that S and y K Frini fi me
or just d m me if you want something to
stitch YouTube, you know where to find me.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
S and y K podcast. You know you know you
already know. Man. Everybody already know where to find me. Man.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
I appreciate Chris and all the love the people that
toothed in with us on this lovely Sunday. God bless
you on, God bless your families. Man, really appreciate it. Man,
christ Man shall see you too as well. Appreciate love
your show man doing your thing.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
I appreciate you, man, I appreciate you know what you do.
Just one more thing and this came up just about
content creation as a whole.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Right.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
It's it's obviously we see everybody wants to be in
the content space, but it's hard to stand out. And
you've built something really good despite people, you know think
you crazy with your takes and stuff. You know, you've
really established a really good brand. So what's what's some
of the keys for you that you felt like have
been able for you, that have made you been able

(39:37):
to get to where you've gotten, you know, so far
in the creation game. Because we know there's a bunch
of Knicks podcasts, there's a bunch of we see in it.
There's there's a million Knicks podcasts. But it's hard to
stand out. So what do you feel like you've done
that's really been able to help you throughout these last
you know, however many years you've.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
Done this, Yo, Well, do your own thing. That's it.
Do your own thing? You know what thing now you not?

Speaker 4 (40:05):
You know a lot of people I think I think
the problem with a lot of people is like they
sound like everybody else. So I don't be trying to
sound like everybody else.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
I just do my own thing. You know. It's crazy,
And I was on.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
Reddit the other day, Like the Reddit is a completely
different social media. Yeah, Reddit, you know, op over there,
So make sure y'all go follow me over there over Reddit.
And that's a hyk podcast.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
But I'll be writing my ann all of this cartoons
and stuff.

Speaker 4 (40:38):
But you know, you go over there and Reddit and
you see, like it's a whole different social media spectrum.
So you gotta take advantage of it. You gotta take
advantage of AI. You gotta take advantage of like all
these graphic apps. You gotta take advantage of everything. And
you knew it was gonna happen, and they started winning.
I knew this was gonna happen. I've been doing it
more shouts to everybody, man man once against you. Yeah,

(41:02):
I keep doing your day and people people going to say, oh,
I don't like this take. Oh I don't like that take.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
I don't care what you don't like. I'm telling you
to take it.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Likely dope, Like that's what I respect about you, that
you don't care. You're gonna stick whatever your take is.
That's my take, and I'm sticking with You're not gonna
convince me otherwise to you know, I said what I said,
and this is what I'm gonna go with a lot
of people kind of backtrack and stuff, and you just
go with it, you know, So I respect that. You know,
I see you doing your thing, and you know, I

(41:33):
saw you. You did the spot on s M Y,
which is that's dope. I mean, you know that that's cool, man,
that's cool to do some TV stuff, you know what
you know, so you know, and you know that's really dope,
you know, and you know to do all the stuff
and to be you know, for for for the players
to know who you are. You know, you know, you
know you're doing something.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
You know you know.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
But keep grinding, bro, keep grinding. You're doing you know,
you're doing doing some good things and you're making a
name for yourself. It's hard to do that, start to
stand out and you're doing a good job. So keep
on grounding on that.

Speaker 4 (42:07):
Appreciate everybody, man once again this podcast, Chris, I.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Love you brother, everybody. God blessed all you people. Man,
my n man. Hopefully Chris shouts to my guy uncle
Freezy just was over there with him. Man. I make
sure Chris similar audio.

Speaker 4 (42:27):
I make sure I try to add these joints out
Spotify later on today I got another audio coming out
later on today, So shouts to everybody man once again, Chris,
love you brother, peace.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
