Podcast with Me your hopes Chris Lebron And on today's show,
we're gonna talk about the next summer league roster. They
finally dropped who will be on the next summer league,
So I'm going to get into details with that, maybe
talk a little bit about the new polo band Caro

extension and what that does for Orlando, but it's going
to be mostly about the next summer league and dive
at a little bit into some of the players that
the Knicks will be having on their summer league roster.

So we're gonna get into it because obviously that's been
something that people have been waiting for. We've been waiting
for this summer league team to drop reading up on
something quick, you know. So we've been waiting for a

little bit. So let's discuss the roster and I'm trying
to blow it up a little bit more. There we go.
So there's the next summer league roster that we will have,

(03:00):
and obviously some notable names allowed. All our draft picks
from last year, obviously led by first round pick pacomb Dottier,
who and I'll go into a little bit into kind
of what they've been doing, how what they did last year.
So komb Dottier obviously was the first round pick, our
first pick last year in the twenty twenty four NBA Draft.

(03:25):
We selected them twenty fifth. Only played in eighteen games
for the big club, shot thirty two percent from the field,
only thirty one percent from three played. But he'll give
you more of his G League stats because that's where
we kind of saw him more at In the G League,
he averaged lost my notes, I had it all written

(03:49):
out there ago. He played in fourteen games, averaged fourteen
almost fifteen points a game, only shot forty percent from
the field, thirty one percent from three, eighty four percent
from the did grab five and have rebounds per game,
and played a good a good amount of minutes, you
know for the Westchester Knicks, you know. So obviously his

(04:13):
development is going to be absolutely absolutely important. Like his
if he if he doesn't develop the way we want
him to, then that that's gonna hurt. We need him,
We need wing depth. He is obviously a project. So
one thing that I'm kind of worried about in a

(04:36):
sense because I still feel like he's super raw, is
that we're going to try to fasten his development when
he needs time, Like you know, he needs time to develop.
He's still only twenty years old, and he was a
project pick, right they select him like I had him
in the late thirties forties, because I thought he was

(04:58):
a developmental guy the needed time. And you take a
guy in the first round, you know, you're expecting him
to be ready in a couple of years, in two years,
you know, So I two three and I think he
was in that two to three year where after, you know,
heading into year three, you can see some So I hope,

(05:20):
you know, I'm really gonna be curious to see if
he's ready. You know, if he's taken on, you know,
we've gotten stronger to be able to get to his spots,
improve the shooting, has the form and everything has everything
you want in a wing eight right, how many times
we you know, I talk about religiously about six foot eight,
seven foot wingspan, wings and those types. Those are the

types that that teams love it, and that's what the
Knicks fell in love with. So he's going to be important.
But hopefully he's ready because he's going to he's a
Everyone talks about him being a valued port, a vital
piece in this twenty four twenty five sixth season. You know,

(06:01):
so is he ready to take a big step in
his development? Because I think he still has some time
to go before he's really ready and now that time
is kind of that clock is its spending a little
bit faster than maybe I would like. But there's there's

(06:22):
some good things to like about Pacomb, but you know,
the efficiency has definitely got to be up there and
be better. You know, you don't even have to be
a three level guy essentially, you know, we need him
to improve the outside shot, you know, because we did
not we lacked wing depth on the bench. We didn't
have anything on the bench last year. So that's going
to be very, very, very very crucial. Obviously, let's talk

(06:49):
about Tyler Kollick. Tyler Kullak, who took in the second round,
was third to fourth pick trade up to get him
top twenty five guy. For me, had they reversed Pacomb,
Dottie and Tyler Kollik, I would have loved what they
did even more, even not being a huge comb guy.
But I would have been like, at thirty four, that's fine,
I'm cool with that. But Tyler kolk Glavasi last year

(07:11):
didn't play much but unlimited time, you know, shot thirty
two percent from the field, twenty nine percent from three,
seventy six cent from the free throw line. A couple
points a game, then forty one games in just seven minutes.
A game had some highlights, had a nine to six
game was his was his career high, believe, you know,
and showed some some some flashes when he did play.

(07:33):
You know, obviously it wasn't anything spectacular, but did some
good things in the G League too. You know, I
think his G League average he averaged like tennis is
a game of the G League shot like eighteen percent.
Efficiency wasn't there. I think he shot like thirty eight percent
for one of average. Checking last time it was thirty
eight percent. They glow thirties from threes or the high

(07:56):
twenties from threes. So obviously, see with Tyler, we know
the playmaking is there. He can pass, He's one of them,
you know, I think he's that's there. It's can he
get stronger. Can he improve his his perimeter game, you know,
because it felt like he had to really work hard

(08:18):
to get his shot off. So if he works on
that game and he bumps, his shooting splits and he's
getting to in the mid forties you know as a
as a as a shooter, and he's getting into the
mid thirties, a three point shooter that's gonna get him
on the court. That's gonna get him on the court.
So I want, I'm really interested to see because he
and also with him, we know we're going to see

(08:41):
the passing because he has a bunch of Swiss army
knife type. He got a bunch of freak athletes, you know,
with James Nagi and Modiouara and Ding Paid. You know,
he's gonna have guys that are going to be able
to finish. So but the one thing he needs to
work on is the defense. I don't think is ever

(09:02):
going to be something, you know, So I'm but can
he do enough offensively that'll make him stay on the court,
you know, with getting to a spots, getting stronger, you know,
where he's not bullied. So that's the one thing I'm
looking forward to with Tyler Kohlig. He's probably my He's
probably be the number one guy I'm watching, you know,

(09:25):
because I was such a big Tyler Cola guy. But
his development is going to be very crucial because the
backup point guard spot, you know, I know they picked
up Jordan Clarkson, who can handle the rock a little bit.
You know, they obviously got Deuce you know that can
handle the rock a little bit. They but they need more.

(09:45):
They needed more dynamic ball handler who could be able
to play make they didn't have. They didn't really have that.
Coolak might be their best playmaker. And he's he's only
a second year guy, you know, so we'll see how
his rushing goals. But he should look good passing the ball.
He should look good, you know, setting up guys, you know,
to being a good uh loob guy. But can well

(10:10):
we see the shooting improved. That's going to be the
key for him if he wants to be the backup
point card. Because they have to be able to trust
Tyler when Brunson is off the court. The plus minus
the stats when Brunson's off the court was not good.
That's a big reason why this team it was not
in the NBA finals. So can they trust Tyler when

(10:32):
Brunson is off the court for ten ten minutes? Can
they trust Tyler? He's he's he's a pivot. I think
he is the most important. You know, I know pacomb
is very important, but I think Tyler is because those
minutes when Brunson's out are very vital. So I think
we need him to really step up and show. I

(10:53):
know he was the second round pick, but he was
the third pick in the second round, fourth pick in
the second round. You know, yeah, fourth pick in the
second round. So you're still expecting something and highly touted,
you know, like coming out of college. You know all time.
You know, Biggie's you know, back to back Biggies Assists champion,

(11:16):
you know, led the country and assists. We need him.
So he's very very very very vital into this, uh,
this NIXT team. You know, so some other you know,
you got Kevin mccullor another guy they took in the
second round, Kevin mccullor second round, fifty sixth pick in

(11:37):
the draft, you know, a kind of an older prospect.
He was, you know, didn't play mine, only played four
games last year for the next you know that wolds
some injuries coming out of college. Kind of why he
dropped another guy where he's fighting for a eightyes century
a deal too, you know, so uh can score. You know,

(12:00):
score was a solid score at Westchester, where he spent
most of his time. You know, averaged around eleven and
a half points per game. He shot. The shooting splits
weren't great, you know, shot thirty nine percent twenty two
from three. But did give you a steal and a
half a game, you know, so do you what do

(12:22):
you want from a college is if Ken obviously he's
another one well and that that the health is more
if he makes the team, that's going to be the
one thing. If he does make the team, can't stay healthy.
But the shooting needs to be greatly improved, because he
improved his last year at Kansas. He was a solid shooter.
But that was an issue he had in college too,

(12:43):
was the shooting being consistent. It wasn't consistent enough until
his last year. But and if he does make the team,
that's gonna be wise the shooting improved, because we know
the defense is pretty solid. He's a pretty good defender.
He's a really good almost two steals a game at Westchester,

(13:04):
you know. So if he can do the little things
that can get him, you know, a shot at the
big club. So we'll see how he does. I liked
him a lot coming out of college. I had him
as a top thirty five forty player. So we'll see what. Obviously,
every hook Porty probably has the most experience, you know,

(13:25):
out of all the draft picks out of all the
guys from the twenty four class, he has the most experienced.
You know, he was the last pick of the draft too,
you know, so not much and he would he had
been on the draft rado for a while, but you know,
got you know, just you know, finally was able to

(13:47):
hear his name, you know, get through this process. But
only played twenty five games, w eight and a half
minutes a game, but gave you when he played well
for a guy who was the last pick the second round.
You didn't expect to get that much production from a
guy who was the last pick in the draft. So
you got real good production. Played good in minutes where

(14:09):
when when Mitchell Robinson wasn't there, you know, played good
and and in the time he did play, the limited
minutes he did, played he great, great hustle, showed offensive
you know upside. The defense still needs some work as
far as with the footwork, the shot blocking, you know, mechanics,
all that stuff needs to get improved. But he's he's

(14:29):
he's he's a I think he's solid. I think his
floor is pretty good where I think he's he's gonna
be what he is. I think CP mentioned this earlier
on Knicks fan TV that he thinks he's just going
to be solid, like he doesn't see much upside, but
he's gonna be solid and that's sometimes all you need.
But if he can refine some of the shot block
and stuff and not falling, I think that's positive. So

(14:51):
I think our parties is in a good shape. You know,
he should have a good summer league. Another guy, and
this is has been talking about some of the freak
athletes that they've had, a James Najen. So James naji
is someone they picked up from the KR Anthony Towns.
I think he originally was a Charlotte pick. I think

(15:13):
he got flipped to Minnesota and then we got him
in the in the cat trade. He's a physical freak.
Six eleven to fifty seven foot seven wingspan I think
I read it was or is projected seven five sevenths
in that range, you know, so crazy wingspan, physically gifted
like he is built. He is a god god like

(15:37):
you know, body pause. You know, he has a lot
of those just absolutely crazy physical traits that you want
from a big you know, just a really real special
on that end. But man like jot blocking the rim,

(16:01):
running like there's a lot to like it. I think
that's why there's a lot of intrigue with James Naji
because of those physical traits, he's not going to give
you much offensively as far as shooting outside game, there's
not much there with James Naji, But it's kind of
like he's a bigger version of Muhammad Doar. You know,

(16:21):
Dar is six seven six eight, where James Nadi is
six' eleven two fifty and has a seven foot five,
wingspan And dar has a seven foot four. Wingspan so
you're getting some guys who have really, good, uh really
great Upside and that's WHAT i. LIKE i like them

(16:41):
taking chances and Upside, like, hey let's you, know we're
limiting and what we can do. Financially you, know we're
close to that second Aprom, like, hey let's see what
we can. Get can we get some steals, Here let's
see we can find a diminum because The knicks have
shown that they they can find some some good players

(17:01):
in the second round or you, know or later or,
undrafted like they can get some talent like. That so
and that, probably you, know that's how you're gonna be
able to fill out the back end of your your
roster with with some of these. Guys So nagi is
definitely ah. Intriguing you, know he PLAYED i think he
played THE Acb, league you, know so uh For Real, madrid,

(17:25):
RIGHT i, forgot but he didn't play a lot of.
Minutes didn't play a lot of. Minutes but you, know
with with whenever we look at prospects or you've essentially
you're just trying to, say, okay, well how can we
project that in THE nba game because we know the
game of sees is a lot, different lot more. Physical you,

(17:47):
know they don't play young, guys so you go through.
That you, know so he's a good, project And i'm
he's another one WHERE i think he'll thrive At tyler kohlicking.
Company you, know so interested to see how he fits
with this. Team so just pulled it up with my.
Roster go, okay, so uh you a baba The japan

(18:14):
they call Him Tokyo. Drift you, know, interesting interesting. Prospect he's,
older he's like twenty, NINE i, think you, know but
played in THE, nbl you, know won the FINALS. Mvp you,
know so he's AT. Au he's had its couple of
stints playing good Pro, bowl played in the G leigue
he HAD i think he had three different stints in

(18:35):
THE G league for the for The Texas, Legends so
he has some experience. Playing so that's just another depth
and LIKE i, said a potential wing that has some,
experience you, know so we'll see how that, goes you,
know seeing some of his. Highlights he's pretty athletic, too
so he's a he's he's a intriguing. Guy another guy
that Added lance where he probably people familiar With lance

(18:58):
where if you're big college guy played over At, kentucky
then wound up transferring To, nova had the same issues
he had In, kentucky just couldn't get the. Minutes he
can go To nova play, WELL i, think playing less
than he did at His, Stinton kentucky and then one
up going TO Ut arlington where he played he played

(19:19):
twenty nine thirty minutes a. GAME i, think you, know
averaged around thirteen fourteen a, GAME i think nine, rebounds so,
solid you, know just a big. Depth you, KNOW i
don't think he's gonna be someone that's going to make the,
team but you, know it's good to give a shot
and see what he can. Do you, know a lot of,
experience twenty four years, old so definitely worth a shot

(19:40):
to See Luca, skuka you, know A. SLOVENIAN i thought
he was. LOOKED i could have SWORN i read you,
know Uh, lithuania you, know but he's A slovenian, guy six.
TEN i think they kind of just picked up to
see if the shooting can get better BECAUSE i think
his shooting, overseas he was shooting like mid, thirties you,

(20:03):
know so maybe with more spacing in the, league maybe they,
think you, know because he has good form with, technique you,
know just so maybe they're just, saying, hey let's give
it a. Shot maybe this kild can you, know be
a good shoot at the next. Level because he's already
shooting mid. THIRTIES i think we can get him up
to higher and a six six, ten you, know you never,

(20:24):
know SO i think it's worth the, shot you, know
a couple of, STINTS i think With DALLAS'S G league,
Team LIKE i could be, wrong but you, Know and
THEN i mentioned Before mohammad J aar was our second round.
Pick you, know we traded one spot down to get
him from fifty to fifty. One you, know an intrigue
physical specimen six foot, eight seven foot four wingspan around two.

(20:50):
TWENTY i think in that. Range not going to give
you much offensively in the low fifties as a free throw,
shooter just not he's not gonna give you much right.
Now but defensively as a there's there's something, there you
know with the long arms, plays passing lane you, know
was a was a, menace like he locked up some.

(21:12):
Dudes so he's going to be someone THAT i you,
know another guy that you're very interested to. See you
know how he. Looks you, know, there's LIKE i, said
there's gonna be a lot of interesting wings in this you.
Know so those are the guys that WERE i, know
there's other guys on this, team you, know you, know

(21:33):
but why? Bails you, know he's someone that's, interesting you
know playing, overseas you, know he he's got SOME i
think He's australian, too uh. RIGHT i think he played THE.
Nba so he's an intriguing. Prospect you, know see what
he got. There Jamal bays, interesting you, know kind of
a scoring. Guard he's got some. Intrigue you. Know Jane

(22:00):
campbell And Devone, GRANT i know a little bit about,
them not too, much you, KNOW i remember hearing about
them a few years, back BUT i, KNOW i. Know
these are all essentially guys who played, overseas you, know
so they have. Experience you, know they're, young but they
still have a couple of years of experience. Playing so
you're bringing guys like, that you, know and you add
them to what you got, now so they haven't a

(22:22):
lot of guys with, upside because they've got a lot
of guys with, upside so very, intriguing very intriguing guys
that they have, that you, know they're bringing in for
their summer. League But i'm as happy that they they
finally announced their summer league, team you, know because it's
it's you, Know i've been. Waiting i'm a. WEIRDOUGH i
JUST i just wanted to hear the summer league, team you,
know so and we got my what? Up Stephen man

(22:48):
told You i'd be back looking forward To Colic, lobs
the huk NOD g and d War Steven. Man that's
one of the more exciting Things i'm looking forward to
with The Summer. League their first, GAME i cannot. WAIT
i think they played The nets their first SUMMER i
could be, wrong But. Steven, yeah that's gonna. BE i
Think colic is gonna be in heaven like he's just
gonna take take it on the break and then, boom

you got A, huck you got Di, aara you Got,
nagy you, know dank like he's it's gonna. Be you,

guys look like in summer, league and they'll go, about you,
know that last roster. SPOT i mean it's a vetman.
Spot SO i, mean those guys aren't going. Anywhere you're
gonna be able to get those. Guys so if mcculluor

is one hundred, percent he's a great, defender saying pray
that he saying pray that he could shoot league garbage from. Three, yeah,
yeah that's the. Thing if that's how he's gonna be
able to get AN nba roster spot is if they're.
Shooting because THAT i mentioned the splits before me look

back on my. Notes so he shot in THE G,
league playing twenty seven minutes for, game scored eleven a,
game five, rebounds thirty nine percent from the, field twenty
two from. Three and that's in THE G. League now,
context he's coming off an, injury so getting his feet,
wet you. Know but that was the thing he had in. College,
now he shot better in college his last year At.

(26:23):
Kansas the, NUMBERS i think he was mid. THIRTIES i
could be. Wrong i'll check that out, exactly but he
needs To the shot is what's going to get him
on the. Roster if he's on the, team it's because
he figured out his, shot you, Know so that's that's
gonna be key for. Him let me read his last
year AT. Ku what was his? Splits his last year

(26:48):
AT ku shot a little all, Right so he was
got thirty three AT, ku but he, improved like he
was a twenty eight percent, shooter thirty one percent shooter
and went to thirty, Three so he's. IMPROVED i, mean
you're not asking him to shoot thirty eight. Percent you
want him to get at least in that thirty three
to thirty five range at the next. Level if especially

if he's a good, defender you don't need him to
be that great of a. Shooter so nick, yack we
can get a full vet. Minimum but wait and. See yeah,
yeah because uh but The yabuseli taken, less we can
get a FULL vet. MAN i, know Maybe Kevin love
potentially mccullar has a great feel for the game and

(27:33):
intense mode of COACHES je to three. Points you, know it's.
Crazy he's A TIBs. Guy he was a Very TIBs like.
Pick so when they got, him you, KNOW i just wonder,
how if what What Mike brown sees in, him because
if he doesn't have the. Shooting you. Know that's my
thing with him is if the shooting is not, there,

LIKE i don't know if he makes the, team you,
know because he feels like he was more of A TIBs.
Guy but you, know they trying to stay it away
From tips. Guys quote, unquote we'll, see, Uh, Nick, Yeah
kolic needs to shoot. Better his defense wasn't bad the
little he, played but, yeah the shooting needs to it gets.

Better even even at West chester, too he didn't shoot
the ball. Great you, know he he averaged like nineteen and.
Ten you, KNOW i think he had steal in a
half a. Game but let me, yea he shot thirty
eight percent At westchester and twenty eight on threes and
then in the BIG i won't even count that THE
nba stuff because he only played what he played forty

(28:40):
one games when he played seven minutes a, game so
only averaged two and two and thirty field goal twenty.
Nine SO i, SEE i like to see more of
THE g league stuff because obviously he got to. Play
uh but he did have a career high nine assists
in one game in the big, leagues so with the big,
boys so there's something. There there's something, there but he

(29:03):
needs To he's another guy we'll call him on mccullor
that needs To but unlike, mccullor Like colak's gonna be
on a. Team you, Know colic is going to be
very big pick piece because LIKE i mentioned, before they
gotta trust someone When brunston is coming off the, court you,
know so seeing how he works, out seeing how that
shot goes, in it's more. Confident we'll see The knicks

(29:28):
have a major. Problem do you SEE. Vj edgecomb the other?
Night he's serious on both sides and abused The. Knicks.
YEAH i mean we didn't have the season they truly,
had so we weren't positioned. AGAIN i mean there's a
world WHAT i would LOVE. Vj. Edgcumbe LIKE i, SAID
i have mentioned just for being In New, york you,
know heard a lot about, him wrote a lot about

(29:50):
him before he was even a top one hundred. Player
so AND i saw the vision a long time, ago
BUT i don't. Know Steven, Moore, yeah they got something
good potentially there In. Philly if those if the IF
pg AND mb don't work, out they got a nice
little good future. There Nick yak always piggybacking off the cold.

Stuff he started so, good hit his first couple. THREES
i hope he gets a fair, chance. YEP i, MEAN
i think he's going to get the ultimate opportunity to
be the top backup, guard the lead back. Up so
this is an opportunity to show. It i'm not worried
about the, passing the, playmaking the defense so. Much it's

can he get to his? Spots can He did he
develop a float or did he develop stop and, start you,
know near the restricted? Area did the? DID i don't
need him to shoot thirty eight percent from, three but
we need to see better than thirty five. Percent it's
got to be in, that you, know could you when
you're not a dynamic point guard like, that it can get.

(30:56):
Downhill you got to be able to at, least you,
know shoot it. Respectfully and if you, Can't if he's
not someone that can get to the rack comfortably and
he can't, shoot it's gonna be hard to have success
at this level as an under as a below the rim,
player you. Know so those are things we need to
see From, tyler you, know And i'm confident we. Will

(31:18):
maxie AND vj are Scary STEVEN i Have i'm having
nightmares because in a few years that can be that
potential backcourt could be. Scary and then you add McCain to.
That that's What i'm. Saying they're in good. Shape they're
