(00:00):
Bad news. Guys. We stilldon't have an intro, so I feel
like we should just keep going backand forth on our intro. And I
like the original one. Really yeah, Okay, what if we just do
this turn it just because I likethat part, and then we go to
our other one. What's up?I'm John, I'm Monday, and I
okay, all right, I likethe original one. The original It's Saturday

(00:20):
night, Friday night. Look what'sup? I'm John, I'm Marley,
and I'm Mikayla and you're listening toon the playlist and I heart Radio New
Music podcast. All right? Whodecided we do this on a Monday?
Whose idea is? Honestly, it'syours. We should probably do it on
Friday, it says a terrible idea. Every Monday already is the hardest day

(00:43):
of the week, and then comingoff to Super Bowl. Wow, what
was our reasoning for not doing iton Fridays anymore? Because I forgot I
was thinking about this because because newmusic comes out on Fridays, we didn't
have enough time to actually listen anddigest. John talks about it on the
show on Friday. I do,but I only have to pick three songs,
and I feel like I really enjoysitting with the music for the weekend

(01:03):
because then I can feel it alittle bit more, see what I get
from it. And like, ifwe do it on a Friday, would
have to be right when the musiccomes out in the morning while we're at
work. It just doesn't seem likeenough time, you know. I definitely
don't think it's enough time. Personally, No, it's not. But also
Monday, it's just been to Monday'snot enough time for me to I know.
But at the same time, Mondaystoo late. We already have new
music coming out this Fridays. It'sinsane. Music dropped yesterday. Yes,

(01:26):
I know, there's just so much. And then coming off the super Bowl,
just I've never realized how much whatyou put into your body makes a
difference on how you feel. Forthe super Bowl, to be honest with
you, guys, didn't really drink. I had one beer the whole day,
but all I ate was junk.I feel like one fat nacho right
now. All I had chips andcheese, pratzels. Yeah, more chips,

(01:48):
salsa, cookies, chocolate chip. That's it. I didn't have breakfast.
I didn't have a lunch. Ididn't have dinner, Like, there
were no burgers, there were nohot no need for dinner in the Super
Bowl much throughout the day. AndI was so excited about it. And
then third quarter hit and I startedslashing on my couch and I was like,
oh my god, I feel horrible. So then today I feel like
I have one brain cell. It'scrazy. How are you guys doing well?

(02:13):
Apparently Michayla's finding a stomach bug?Yeah, is it super Bowl related?
Well, because he also had likea weird stomach thing this weekend too,
and so we're wondering if it's fromany of the food that we ate.
But I never got a stomach butthat's the chance. So I was
like, oh, it just mustbe you just like something's going on,
Like maybe it's just something you ateseparately or whatever. But then now today

(02:36):
when I woke up, I waslike, unwell. I was like,
and the only food that we hadboth nights was a skillet cookie that we
made. Yeah, that's so.Wait, did you get the sound of
bug to Marley? No? Ididn't. That's what I'm saying is that's
what's weird. Yeah, Well, welcome back on the playlist. I'm John
Camuci, this is Marlee is here, Hello, and we're all collectively on

(02:57):
the Struggle bus coming back from thesuper Bowl. I'm going to actually go
to the super Bowl. But wewatched the super Bowl. You sure,
he said, we just got wewent. Look, today is not our
day, not today. Yeah, this is not a day for us.
But I feel like our super Bowlin particular was the halftime show, right,
That's what I absolutely most excited about. It got me. I was
just pumped that when the halftime showstarted, like it separated my friend group.

(03:21):
There were the friends who were therefor football, and then they went
to the backyard to like play flipcup or something, and I was like,
good, get out of here, like Usher's coming on. This is
what I'm watching for. And tome, I'd say nine out of ten
halftime show incredible. It was soit was so good. And you start
to notice that social media really catersyour feed to like what you want to
see, because watching that Super Bowlon Twitter afterwards, and it seemed like

(03:44):
everyone in the world loved it,like it was the best halftime show ever.
I come into work this morning andthen I start to see a few
mixed reviews, but I think, yeah, isn't that weird? I was
like, is mad? I'm like, what do you mean? It was
mad? Childhood? Did anyone elsesee the same thing that I did?
Like he came out on roller skates, the whole I took his shirt off
and looking fine as hell, respectfully, Usher respectfully, and then just it

(04:08):
just blows my mind and I startto think that was I don't know,
maybe it was just like millennial focused. That's what I was thinking, because
every single millennial was like that wasso good, like dancing and running around.
My mom My mom said the samething. She was like, oh,
it was fine. I was like, mom, fine, mom,
please fine. I saw this tweetthat said the best thing about growing up
is they start to cater the SuperBowl halftime shows for your age group,

(04:30):
and I was like, wow, okay, so relatable. We finally got
Usher. But yeah, he broughtout some amazing acts. I feel like
I lost it when Alicia Keys cameout, like how how you beautiful?

(04:53):
Wow? I love that song.I know me too, man. Alicia
Keys just looked amazing, sounded amazing. I mean, all his guested but
I feel like sometimes people were tryingto play guess who on who? Everybody
was like all my friends thought that, uh that Jermaine dupri was. It's
not him. I knew, Ididn't know who it was, but I
was like, it's not Selo Yeahyeah yeah? And then who are you

(05:15):
saying? Ludacris? Oh yeah,Ludacris came out? Who did people think
he looked like l m f o. I saw I saw a bunch of
of tiktoks on my feet. Thatwas like Ludacris was l mfao. That
guy was Selo green? Like thewhole the whole thing. My better thought,
will I am was Kanye for asecond because he had like that face
mask on and Kanye has been coveringhis face so much lately. People thought

(05:38):
her was Northwest? Yeah that wascrazy. How old is Northwest? Dude?
She's like nine? Yeah right,No, Morley has an age Morphia
like, she's not nine? Dohave age? So I don't know?
Want to hear she's ten? Soyou're actually close. Oh ten. But
the other day was watching Johnny Tsunamifor work. Dude, listen to this.

(06:02):
Have you seen Johnny Tsunami? Iknow what it is, but now
I'm never watching it. Back inthe day. Yeah, people tell me
I look like him sometimes with myhair. I think, no, no,
the wrong guy. Oh I thinkyou're thinking of Jimmy Neutron. No,
I think I'm thinking of Johnny Bravo. But like he's Oh, you're
right, Johnny Bravo. So Johnnysunami. Look up a picture. Okay,

(06:23):
let me know how old you thinkthis guy is. You have to make
sure somebody that looks like off thebat cover look him. How this guy?
I don't know if you can sadyou ten, I was not far
off. Okay, well he's thirteen. Okay, guess what Marley said,
because I was like, wow, this was in nineteen ninety nine. I
was five. She goes, well, he wasn't that much old than us.

(06:44):
He was like six or seven,Marley, She goes, maybe seven
or eight? Like seven or eight. No, I'm so font out of
the kids, see, like oreight. I don't know. Kindermar in
first grade? Yeah, second,I know. I think it's second and
third grade. I think I knowlike six, like I get sixteen and
I get like three, like betweenthree and sixteen, I don't know.

(07:06):
Like I don't telling you. I'mthe same way. It's hard. I
have eeminary Okay, Now he's trulyMy track record isn't great on guessing ages,
Okay. So I mean even withUsher though, like I don't even
know his age because his his moveswere just on the point. Has an
age today? But this picture ofNorthwest really does look like her, you

(07:27):
think? So? Yeah, theway her hair was yeah, okay,
yeah, I'll get you know. And I think her was wearing glasses too,
so maybe it's hard to Yeah,it masks the age in the eyes
a little bit, but that Iknew her right away. Molway's like,
that's not her. I thought,I like thought for a second that it
was, and then I second guessedto myself. I was like, is
that her? And then it washer? Obviously. What was your favorite
part of that halftime show Let itBurn? Yeah, confessions, Yeah,

(07:54):
I was. I ran into yourMark, who works on your show Mikayla
and the Elevator today, and Iwas like, was that not the sickest
halftime show that we've seen in years? And he was all right, because
what do you mean It's all right? And he was like, yeah,
the beginning was it was just likekind of slow. I was like,
it's R and B. Yeah,of course he's got it burn, he's
got confessions like these are the bangersthat we wanted to see from him.

(08:15):
Anyway, Like it was still aparty at the end, like Little John
came in and everyone was taking shotslike, I don't know what you want.
You know, it sounded so goodto me. I think the skate
number was my favorite. Yeah, that was so cool. His outfit was
cool. Yeah, the entrance wascool. Everyone on skates were cool,
right, And he was also doingthat while not lip singing, and everyone

(08:37):
was I was like, I don'tthink so people love to. They were
messing with his mic a little bit. I felt like I was like,
I think he didn't have enough backup, like track that was playing because he
was running around so he was likeout a breath and his mic was moving.
So but it's kind of live, yeah, like he was singing live
and those roller skates live is agamble. I can't even roller skate.

(08:58):
I can only roller bleed. Andhow many people I've seen Trip trying to
bring orders it's Sonic, you knowSonic. Ever's like they're not that good
to be honest, it's really not. But it's it was like a staple.
Yeah. I don't even think they'reon skates anymore, are they?
No? No? No? Butwhat the heck is over that? It's
probably so much of my liability anyway, Props to USh here. I think

(09:20):
maybe it's just because we're millennials.I don't know, but enjoyed it.
If we're gonna throw a Taylor Swiftmention in there, did you guys see
her checking that beer? No,dude, she was on the JumboTron.
They showed her. So this wasI only saw it on social media because
people were taking videos in the stadium, But the JumboTron showed Taylor Swift on
screen, and she happened to justpick up a beer and she looked saw
that she was on the JumboTron. It was a pretty full beer, chugs

(09:41):
it all the way down, takesabout five seconds and slams the beer down
iconic like she was at a party. Let's go Taylor, Taylor party parties.
I partied last night. Yeah, what were they? What was that
video going around of them singing lovestory together? Is that the no you
belong with me? Oh? No, love story? I think I think,

(10:01):
but they were both. There wasone where like during Love Story,
they ended up singing a little bitand then they grabbed each other and made
out. Do you think Taylor's tiredof hearing her own songs when she goes
out to party. I think She'sprobably tired of people making it about her
all the time being there. Yeah, I agree, Like, can you
imagine having as many hits as shehas and then going out to a club

(10:22):
just wanting to enjoy yourself and thenpeople putting on your song on purpose?
Totally? And some people were thinkingthat it was a perfect opportunity for Travis
Kelcey to propose if he won theSuper Bowl. I thought there was no
chance in hell that was gonna.Oh, of course not. They like,
in my mind, don't instigate anyof that attention, Like she's there.
She does, Like, of courseshe's there, she's the girlfriend.
She's gonna go on the field, she's going to kiss him. But like

(10:43):
they're not going out of their wayto try and pull the cameras to them,
you know what I mean. SoI thought there was no chance in
hell that was I think if ifhe ever did propose, it would be
very just them. Do you guysthink this is any game for both of
them, I kind of hope,so, to be honest, do you
not think so? I just feellike he's I feel like he's a nice
guy, but I just feel likehe's still like in that party phase where

(11:05):
Taylor is ready to settle. SoI don't know how he's like thirty four,
he's probably retiring soon. And bythe way she slammed that beard at
the game, maybe she's in theparty stage. He's ready to never see
her ever. But I just feellike a lot of like the last guys
that she dated were more like mellowand like chill and like. But I

(11:26):
think that's what I think. That'swhy I think Travis is what she needs.
Yeah, maybe maybe maybe hard tosay, hard to say. She's
definitely not his type either, soit's like maybe they're just or maybe they
are, like they are kind oftextbook though, Like it's like the football
guy and the music girl, youknow, and they're like that kind of
is each other's type? Are youalong with me? Yeah? Video?

(11:46):
Literally? Is that song? Whatads were your favorite? Wicked? Really?
Oh? That soundtrack it's gonna bephenomenon. Cannot wait? We were
a Thanksgiving? That was gonna bew two three, years go to wait
for this stupid movie. It's notstupid, it's gonna be amazing, but

(12:07):
my god, why did it takeso long? So is it the Wizard
of Oz. It's loosely based offthat, but it's basically how the tin
Man became the tin Man and theLion became the Lion and it really Yes,
I had I had a story.I knew nothing about Wicked and then
I saw that commercial and I waslike, oh, that's the Wizard of
Ozz. Like that sounds like thesame movie to me. I've never seen

(12:28):
either, Like Alphaba is the WickedWitch that is underneath the tornado that dies?
Oh in quotations, because does sheRealian die? You gotta watch Wick
is a guy who doesn't love musicals. Am I gonna like that movie?
Yeah? I doubt it, butI'll take your op. No, you're
gonna like it. My favorite isArnold Swartzenegger. Oh yeah, that was

(12:50):
played a couple of times. Yeah. I started thinking because it went into
overtime, they had to like startreplaying some of those commercials. Yeah,
I think I think my favorite wasthe which one was that the Michael Sarah
like presenting why he should be theface of Sara Sara and also is it
they said in the commercial? Isit? Or I think it's Timu they

(13:16):
said, I saw so many Isaw so many people ragging on commercials.
I know, I'm surprised because Iknow, like one of my friends like
order stuff from there. It's likeSheen or Shan, I don't know what
it's called san. But then peoplesay it's not I've never heard of either
of these companies. She and like, I've ordered from them too. But
it's just like a cheaper clothing,Okay, but you can find some good
deals. Yeah, so this iseven like more cheaper than It's kind of

(13:43):
like a wish. It's third goodchance that like these clothes came from a
little sweat shops places and stuff. Is it true though? Probably? Yeah?
And I think it's kind of likea wish to like you order like
a nice sweatshirt or like some gadgetand it's not what you expected. It's
like the way version of yeah.Yeah, it's like the one you'd see
in some like like white T shirtsor just something casual like thin. It's

(14:07):
probably where you could get cheap things. Got We did get new music,
which we'll get into in a second, did we do we have new music?
Like I thought you went. Ithought she was like going ooh,
like raising her hand like I neededto call on her something. But yeah,
let's let's talk. I feel likethis episode is mostly just going to
be new music. I kind ofwanted to get the super Bowl out of

(14:28):
the way so then we can getinto the new music and that'll probably take
the remainder of the episode because there'sjust so much out today, so let's
plug in the OX and get intothat. So let's start with them.
Let's let's get Usher in there. No, let's get Beyonce in there.
Who should we start with this?So much? I just listened to the
new Beyonce last night. Okay, let's let's start there then, because that

(14:50):
one, Yeah, we were talkingabout the ads for the Super Bowl.
There was one for Verizon with Beyonce, and the whole thing was she was
trying to break Verizons Internet because they'rethe Internet that's unbreakable, so she's trying
all these different things to break it. Yeah, I know, right,
Wait, do you have Horizon? No? I have Horizons been my favorite
and I have still have it today. Yep. I normally don't hear that

(15:11):
take anyway. So Beyonce's in there, and she says in the commercial,
Okay, fine, release the song. And there was a split second that
I was like, is she reallygonna release the song? And then I
was like it seemed so so muchof a throwaway in the commercial that I
was like, Oh, no chance. And then she did. She did.
She releases two new songs and she'sgoing full country. She just dropped
a song called Texas Hold Them.I gotta like it. I really don't

(15:43):
don't know if it's trying too hard, because it's not. It's so out
of the box with her and it'sso country. I'm like, I feel
like it feels pretty effortless for agenre shift like that. I just feel
like that's just like a typical countrysong if I wanted to do it,
it's like so country, like withthe whatever it's called. Yeah, you
know, but I think if you'regoing to commit to it, you almost

(16:03):
you definitely have to. But whatI like about it is that I feel
like it's a complete fifty to fiftymix of Beyonce and country, Like it
doesn't lose Beyonce in there, gonnayeah change. It's also definitely country,
so I feel like it's a goodmix of the two. Yeah, that's
that's what I think too. Ithink the genre shift was very smooth.
Yeah, I didn't like this one, but I think there was the other

(16:26):
one. I think, yeah, sixteen Carriages. I haven't listened to that
one yet. I haven't even butI heard that one is a little bit
less on the traditional country route. But yeah, there's a whole country album
going. Yeah what because Marley knowshow I feel about country, so you
know, I was laughing because weboth went, oh yeah, but like

(16:47):
there are differents, like yeah, that's okay. I mean, not a
big country fan. But you're rightthough, what a huge shift for because
like her fan base, I wouldassume it's mostly not country. Oh you
know, I wonder how they feel. Yeah, I'm really curious. I
want to talk to you. I'mvery curious. And like Brian, who

(17:07):
works on my show, is thebiggest Beyonce fan ever. Is he huge,
was like lead member of the Beehive. It is insane. He is
such a Beyonce it's so crazy. So I'm curious to see what the response
is. And also it's crazy becauseTaylor swifts more pop and Beyonce's going country
now, so it's like they kindof almost swapping a little bit. Yeah,

(17:29):
I mean, good for her. It's always cool to try something different.
I also feel like, I don'tknow if this is a recent thing,
but I think a lot of artistshave played around with that country option
lately. I don't know, likePost Malone is, you know, like
I love him, A lot ofthese dm DJs are making country songs well
not sex kind of did that too, true? So I don't know,
Like it just feels like a trendthat I'm seeing a lot of people dip

(17:52):
into that country lane. And it'sprobably because it's such a big genre.
Now, let's get into the Usheralbum. It's called Coming Home. This
just felt like he was coming home. I absolutely loved this album and the
new lead one off. At thelead single, He's pushing off it is
kissing strangers from strangers, kissing kissingstrangers from not knowinguis recent, trying to

(18:15):
forget what Somebody No, it's sogood? Do it again? Okay,
forget with somebody No it's so good. We gotta go, I know,

(18:38):
we have to go. September. His show is sold out already. Three
or fourth. Oh yeah, Iwant to go to that dome so bad
too. Yeah, he's the firstartist that's playing there. Yeah, and
it's already sold out. That's insane. Four nights. I don't know if
all four nights are sold out,but I mean we've been giving out tickets
on the air, and we've beensaying it's a sold out show because the
night we're giving out as at leastsold out. I don't know if all
four are. Brian, who workson my show, talking about him a

(19:02):
lot, his wife is the biggestUsher. I'm kind of outing him on
this. I don't know if he'dwant me to admit this, but they
spent over four hundred bucks per ticket, and then that's to go see like
these tickets are going for Yeah, that's a concerts are insane now, man,
insane. Back to this album,I think my first initial thought listening

(19:25):
to it all the way through wasthat I think Usher could easily have come
back and tried to make an albumof club bangers, and I think he
didn't do that, Like he's stuckwith the R and B. It's very
pop two in some places, andit just feels like the old Usher.
I love that song so much andhe never lost it, like my favorite
is still ruined. It just itfeels so different, you know what I

(19:49):
mean. It felt I don't know. It felt like such a unique song
to me. But there are somefun songs on there too. There's an
eight Town Girl, which is kindof like a mix up on Uptown Girl.
Yes out money, but in healthIt's like, I can't wait to

(20:12):
go to the show. We're going. This whole album is sick. I
loved that one. He hasn't lostit, like you look great the super
Bowl. His album is incredible,Like I love this man. My heart
rate was spiked. I love thosesongs so much. I'm like, let's
dance. I can confirm his tickets. They're not completely sold out, the
ones that I'm looking at, butjust for one platinum ticket one thousand,

(20:33):
one hundred side stage view, threesixty nine plus feet for a side stage
view, three sixty thousand for yeah, all the platinum ones. When is
this It's in September, I believe, Yeah, I honestly think it's the
same weekend as I Heartfest. Butthen he has a Monday, a Sunday
and Monday, or Sunday and Tuesday, show yere's we have to go.
I'd be down, man, Let'stry and go somehow. I'd be just

(20:56):
can't be on a weekend or aweeknight, John won't. Okay, Well
then I'll be probably at the Festalin Vegas. Yeah, you're probably right.
Today night is like almost sold out, but I probably could go to
Sunday night. Maybe we'll make theexception to go on a week night for
us. You can spend the nighton our please. Okay, wait,
I'll take you up on that.Actually, so there's a few more picks.

(21:17):
I want to get to switching genresa little bit. We're gonna go
into some of the deeper cuts,so we'll do that. We got to
take a quick break, but we'llbe right back right after this, and
we're back, so back truly,so kind of switching genres here. Another

(21:38):
huge album that came out was StickSeason Forever by noa con Sentence and that,
like just the voice alone automatically getsme on that new song. So
aside from the new collapse, thatwas the only new song off that album,

(22:00):
Right Forever, Yeah, loved it. I was curious, though,
now that we have all of thesecollabs out, what is your favorite from
all of Noah Cohn's new releases, you gotta think about it. So he's
got let me see who he's gothere. He's got obviously Hosier, Gracie
Abrams, Sam Fender, Casey Musgraves, Lisa mccalpine, Brandy Carlisle, Post
Malone, Alan Is Cough, GregoryAllen is a Cough. Not that one

(22:26):
for me, just based on easiername maybe you know, coming from the
guy's last name is kmuchie. Butif you had to pick a favorite from
this album, who do you thinkit is? I mean, I have
two, okay, kind of Icouldn't really decide because they feel very I
like them for different reasons. Yeah, like Lizzie mc Lizzy McAlpine feature Call

(22:49):
Your Mom. That song alone isso good and Lizzie's voice is so good
and almost kind of like Haunting Eeriea little bit, and I feel like
it's just so fitting on that song. Definitely, so I love that one.
But I also, I mean,my bad, my bad playing something.
And then I think the other onewould be the one with Hosier.

(23:12):
Yeah, dude, I think Hosier'sgot to take for that scream alone and
that Goodbye. It's so absolute firstplace, absolute, first place, no
questions, ask for a second. For me, I think i'd have to
go homesick. And I didn't thinkI liked that one that much until the

(23:33):
one with Sam Fender came out,and I don't know, I love it.
So that's the homesick original really,Yeah, MICHAELA, are you as
much Vanilla Confian? I'm not.I just I think I've told you this
before, Like it's harder for meto get into slower music, and I
feel like it's very slow, whichI like sometimes, but I don't know.
I think he has good music, but I don't like listen to how

(23:55):
do We Get Her Depressed? Johnand I look at each like, well,
like, yeah, we'll figure thatout. That's his first EP,
like back in twenty sixteen and twentyfifteen. I actually it's one of the
songs I bought off of Apple,so I have it on my phone still.
Yeah, I saved some of thatmusic and like, I forget that
that's the same Noacon like hurt Somebody. Yeah, I forget that's the same

(24:18):
guy, Julia Michael, Yes,yeah, so that was like I liked
his older stuff and then I don'tknow, it just kind of just fell
off for me, not on purpose, but you know, and it's good
for me to hear that because inmy mind, like I think it's just
because TikTok caters the algorithm, butlike all I see is people who are
obsessed with Noacan, So I feellike no one has really changed the music
scene on that folk lane as muchas he has later. So for me,

(24:41):
I just I'm like, oh,everyone has to like him, so
it's grounding for me to hear thatnot everyone is like that because I just
feel like he's on top. No, he's killing it right now. Yeah,
and I'm actually being someone that's Iguess just in music. I didn't
realize his sound will become as popularas it did. Ye really huge.
He's become like, yeah, soldout Fenway Stadi. I'm insane. Yeah,

(25:02):
like he sold it like his wholetour. That's wild, yeah,
wild, Like what an iconic venueto sell it. That's like people here
selling out Dodger Stadium like it happens. But not unless you're like the Jonas
Brothers, you know what I mean? Right, Yeah, I know it's
or Elton John like Juscas lying homefor it. Oh really, but like
she got like really bad seats becauselike they saw it so fast. Yeah,
but she's still like one of thelucky ones they get to go.

(25:23):
It's crazy, you know, it'scrazy. Okay, So I need to
talk about this next release because I'mobsessed with it. I think it slipped
under the radar bit. This newJP Sacks album is incredible. Okay,
it's literally so good. So lastyear he released a gray Area. Now
he just released on Friday a livesessions version of it, and oh my
god, Like they all feature thesedifferent versions of various musicians playing a lot

(25:48):
of these songs with them, andmost people may not know who they are
off the bat, but like, for example, Teal Wilkinfeld plays based on
one of them, and she's alegendary bass player. She's played with Prince
Mick Jagger or one of Them's gotthis guy Henry who is a jazz organist
and a gospel musician who's just incredible. So basically just like nerdy musicians,
right, but like can make amazingmusic. What you want like that that

(26:17):
organ, Dad would what you wantme to and it just goes on to
solo on this electric piano for aminute and like church first of all,
right, but second like it's thereason that I like going to live shows

(26:40):
because you get so much more musicianshipand emotion then you do sometimes on a
studio recorded album, like he closesout with this song caught Up on You
and again all that to say,I can't wait it's again. So then
he starts with this organ solo herehe goes on for two to two and

(27:03):
a half minutes, just jamming, just sitting there and just feeling the music
for a few minutes, which isvery similar to what John Mayer does sometimes.
He has so many live versions ofhis albums where he just will sit
there on a guitar solo for fiveminutes, and I'm there loving every second
of it. I don't, butlike I think for me, like no,

(27:25):
whether you listen to like artists whohave mastered their instrument there's a point
where you stop thinking about what youwant to play anymore and you just feel
and you just play what comes tomind, and it truly is raw music
expressing emotion. There's no lyrics, there's no words, Like everything you feel
is just coming out of the notesthat you play, and there's something so

(27:45):
cool about that to me, AndI just think that's so cool to hear
live. So for the live musicfans, you gotta check that one out.
I'm moving on to my last pickhere. This is another one I
just need you to fill with mefor a second. It's called It's Okay,

(28:06):
It's all right, and it's byEmmett Finn. So just for a
second close your eyes. Now.Do you have like a favorite street you
like to drive on in LA That'sprobably hard, but imagine you're just going
for a late night driving. Youjust want to like get lost for a
minute. There's no one on theroad. You're you know, you want

(28:34):
to know what I just pictured anempty one ten freeway. I would just
hear the empty at night, yeah, the sunset. When I first got
my license, I used to justgo for drives all the time because that's
like where i'd go to clear myhead. And I remember in my hometown,
I had this one street by whereI lived, and I'd go to
the top of it and it's it'sa straight street and when you look all

(28:55):
the way down that street, itwas just an empty road lined on two
sides by streetlights and palm trees andyou almost couldn't see the end. It
felt like an endless tunnel. Andso when I would drive down it like
I would just put on a songlike this and I would just get lost
in it. Like how cool, man, you're gonna have to take down

(29:22):
home. No, I'm giving youthat free of charge. I listened to
it the other day on my drivehome from work. Actually, did you
really? Yeah? I loved itlate night drive songs. Man. I'm
telling you, all right, whowants the next? Okay, that's awkward.
You take my character when I getsit, you go, okay,
Well be sorry, Okay, what'sup? All right? So the first

(29:45):
song I have is called The Alibiby Dylan and I talked about this last
week. I've been waiting for thesong to come out for weeks this long.
All she did was tease this songstop and to finally hear a full
out it's even more of a boplike it is just so good. She
said, if her and Taylor Swiftwrote a song together, this would be

(30:07):
it. And I can totally hearthe Taylor Swift lyric writing it, so
that chorus, part of the chorusis really catchy. But leading up to
it, oh, it like startsa build up and then the chorus comes

(30:30):
and it's not what you expect, but then it hits with that a cry
if there was a body, ifyou told a real good bye, I'll
standing tell me that's not like butalso just and then it goes into the

(30:56):
alibi like, oh, it isjust a bop. It has been on
repeat since it came out. Sowho is she? I don't think I've
heard of her before. So she'sBritish okay, and I just recently found
her. She actually is a songlike you Don't Look Like Carry Styles or
something like that too, but she'sso fun. The song is called you
Don't Look Like Carry Styles. Ifeel like I've actually probably heard that song.
I mean, when you doubt it, Oh that I'm getting the correct

(31:19):
name. You're not Harry Styles,That's what it's called. But I just
love her music. She's actually comingto LA and playing the Roxy on like
April fourth, uh huh, sowe should go. It's probably during the
week, so John probably no,that was fun though, he was like,
the idea of it sounded tell her. I said, Hi, yeah,
okay, but also we should getit on the pod okay. He

(31:42):
goes okay. So it's the thirdit's a Wednesday. Unfortunately John won't be
in. No no, no,no no. But I really like her
stuff. I think it's just likea clever way to like say what she's
trying to say. And she saidthat she wrote this after having to let
someone down, So it's the lovethat makes your heart hurt and how you
would still do anything for that persondespite knowing they're no good for you.

(32:05):
Yeah, and she said this isher version of a love song. And
I just think it's just like sucha clever way to say something, you
know that even though it's so likenot okay, it's okay. And then
the other song I had is fromDaisy Grenade featuring The Main. I never
heard of her before, but hermusic music is actually really good. It's
kind of reminds me of like aParamour and the Main. Yeah, yeah,

(32:28):
definitely all. She actually opened forThe Main on their most recent tour,
on the Sweet sixteen tour. Shedidn't do la or Anaheim show,
but they actually sang this before itwas released and people loved it. Flicker

(32:51):
and Kerosene, Well, I likethat they're duetting on that, right they
are? Yeah, sounds the factlike I can hear her in there too,
even though I don't really know herwell, but I feel like I
can hear the yeah. And thenDonald Callahan, who's the lead singer of
the Main, he's singing like theharmonies and I just love when a male
and female harmonized. There's just somethingabout it. Oh so good. That's

(33:12):
how I thought with us your Aliciakeys Man, I feel like you're right
something about like a guy. It'sjust you get both ends of the spectrum.
It's so good. But this song, I mean, I feel like
it's just about feeling down, goingthrough a hard time, whether it's depression
or a breakup, and just justtrying to like explain like how that feels,
like you know, liquor and kerosene, how do you deal with something
like that? But it's catchy andit's a vibe and if you're into falla

(33:37):
Boy in the Main and Paramore, this is see. I really love this
because this is like the Kayla's versionof a breakup song, and this is
like Marlon and I's version of abreakup song, so literal, that's just
different. People have different versions ofmusic, right, Like I want to

(33:58):
scream my breakup songs and I wantto be like, I'm sad. I
need to get it out. Ineed to screen. You know, I'm
gonna sit in the front seat ofmy car and cry. I mean,
I'll I'll be crying and screaming atthe same time. Yeah, you know,
I mean, I do love LewisCapali, but he's more of a
pop like sad boy. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's that's a good point,
Like he has really soft ones thatare super depressing and sad SODA's head.

(34:22):
But you're right, like there's somethingabout some of those pop ones that
aren't as depressing. Yeah. Idid like de Lowis's song like eyes Closed.
There's a great ed sharing example, like that song is so sad.
I after watching the documentary had justhit differently. Yeah, definitely. It's
about his dead friend, but youget about a woman, like you know,
I was like, oh, yeah, he's like dancing with his eyes

(34:43):
closed because he's picturing his friend andthey're like, oh my gosh. Like
even talking about it like makes melike I know. But it's like play
it on the radio all the timeand you hear it and it's not going
to bring down your mood. Butlike if you're just walking somewhere and like
what are you playing? You know, if you're not used to that kind
of music, Like I have tobe careful who's in my car when I
play my music? You know.I think it's so funny. You know
those videos where people like walk upto you and like what are you listening

(35:05):
to currently? Yeah, I'm petrifiedfor Oh my god. We should go
on the office and do it.We should do that. It would be
interesting to see who I are, like what you're listening to here? And
yeah? I mean yeah, dothey even listen to stuff walk? Probably
not no, But I feel likesome of the people, like the sales
department at the desks, they do, I think, yeah, do you
I do? Yeah? Yeah.I feel like some people do more than

(35:27):
we think. I think. Butif you came up to my desk and
ask me what I was listening to, it would probably be yeah. But
I like that. So anyway,is that it for you? Mikail?
That is all right? Marley, you're up next. Speaking of upbeat songs,

(35:51):
that's actually a love song to behonest, but yeah, you get
the point. One of my favoritesongs that came up well, First of
all, there was too much, too much that came out this weekend.
We had we had an EP fromWing Tip laughter from the other room that
one was so good, Blake RoseA okay Usher obviously, Maggie Rogers t

(36:13):
Pain, Torri Kelly just like somuch. But my I have two that
I took away from UH this pastrelease week, one being from Madison Beer.
It's called make You Mine and itis on a field on a taste,
Taste, Taste on a goodt goo. Okay. So this is the

(36:39):
opening of the song, like thisis the first you know, it just
kind of grabs you. You're like, whoa, and then it goes into
this like incredible euphoric sounding like Ijust want to dance to it. You

(37:00):
actually do this? Yeah? Areyou not? I was this, but
this was like borderline EDM to me. I mean, we've talked about this
though I don't not like EDM,that's true. That is it just has
to have words that I can singto. I think that's why I was
shocked because I saw, I meanno disrespect to Madison Beer. I just
I've seen her on playlists before, and I've listened to some of her songs
and it never has really reached outand grabbed me too. This one did.

(37:22):
I thought this was so sick likeit's so good. Yeah, I
loved it good. So that wasthat was my first takeaway. And yes,
to your point, it is kindof dmy, which is not my
you know what I usually gravitate towards. I think even Lewis the Child.
I love Lewis the Child. Theydropped a song this past week too,

(37:45):
Yeah, and that sounds like Ifeel like they've recently made music sounding like
the old Lewis the Child and ithas made me really happy. Yes,
I love Old Lewis the Child somuch. But my favorite song that released
this past week was Deeper Well byCasey Musgraves. So long and weird.
Theabins Fiossi are real good. Itwastes smart time goodness. I just loved

(38:12):
that the song as a whole kindof had this. It was this acoustic,
soft vibe to it, but themeaning of the song being like,
you know, she opens with thelyrics you know, my Saturn's returned.
When I turned twenty seven, everythingstarted to change, and it's like when
you hit that age where everything startsto kind of you kind of start to
have a different viewpoint on everything. And you know, it goes into the

(38:37):
first chorus, which is I'm sayinggoodbye to the people that are real good
at wasting my time. Yeah, and then you know there's a bunch of
verses obviously, and then the chorusthat we just played, which is I'm
getting rid of the habits that arereal good at wasting my time. So
like it's just the whole song istalking about finding things that have a deeper
meaning for you and your life andjust kind of shedding all of those things

(39:00):
that no longer serve purpose to you, whether those are you know, relationships,
friendships, whatever, and habits eventoo. I was just having this
conversation with my roommates. We wereall in the car, sitting in traffic
over the weekend, and great timeto have those deep parts, really though,
like it was an hour and ahalf on a Saturday going like not
even that far really pissed me off, But we were sitting there like having

(39:21):
this conversation and we were talking aboutthe friends that kind of start to fade
in some way totally. And it'sbecause these days, like as you grow
up, like you have to startrealizing that your lower maintenance friends are the
friends that stick around totally. Youknow, the friends that like don't require
a lot because they are busy andthey have their own relationships going on and
they just have their own thing. And you can't really spend all your time
like you used to back in schoolor whatever, you know what I mean,

(39:44):
Like you have to just pick upwhere you left off, yeah,
and not require that much. Andthe friends who are cool with that,
or the friends that end up stickingaround long term. I think, well,
that chorus it goes, so I'mgetting rid of the habits that I
feel are real good at wasting mytime. No regrets, baby, I
just think that maybe it's natural whenthings lose their shine y so other things
can glow. I've gotten older now, I know how to take care of

(40:04):
myself. I've found it deeper.Well, like it's just the whole song,
Like I just got chills. Thewhole song itself is so good and
just again. You know, asyou get older, you realize that there
are certain things that you just needto you know, break certain habits,
shed certain friendships or relationships in yourlife. That's so real to be able
to find, you know, deeperrelationships and meanings of life and the whole

(40:28):
thing. I don't know. Ijust loved it. Oh this Casey Musgraves.
I think she's funny, nine twentyeight. I think she's very our
age because I feel like that isthe time. Oh she's thirty five.
Oh I was gonna say I thoughtshe was a little bit older, but
I thought she was our age.But I do feel like those late twenties
early thirties, it's like when youreally have to start assessing everything. You
assess your friends, you assess yourcareer, like you really start making those

(40:51):
boundaries of like what you want yourlife to look like exactly. So anyway,
I just loved it. It wasso good. And again it's just
got this really nice, easy listeningacoustic situation. So yeah, it's great.
I loved that one great pick.Is that it for you? That's
it for me? All right?Taking this out, all I gotta plug
in one more time, just togo over just a last few honorable mention

(41:15):
songs and big ones. Gwen Stefaniand Blake Shelton came out with the husband
duet, a husband and wife duettogether. It's called Purple Irises. Fantastic
take you, testing to make you. I don't have change. And this
one was kind of cool too becausethey have some lyrics in there. I
think when Sefani says like, it'snot nineteen ninety nine, but this face
is still mine the way you lookat me, my heart hits rewind and

(41:37):
then Blake Shelton's got this lyric thatsays it's not twenty fourteen, but you
still look good in those genes. And this song just felt like growing old
together and realizing that they're changing, but they're still like loving who they are
on the inside, like as yougrow old together, not that they're old,
but that they're getting older with eachother. Sure, so it felt
like a cute love song between thetwo of them, and I really liked
that. And then there was onefrom m Bil you know her from Numb

(42:00):
Little Bugle, like not really andthen completely switch that up like do you
ever get a little bit tired oflife? Not really happy but you don't
want to die? And then nowshe has this new song, maybe life
is good, Maybe life is Igot that was pretty fun. I love

(42:30):
her voice, like, I thinkshe's so great. I think she has
a Maggie Rogers type. Yeah,I know that she was saying that she
wrote that song even when she stillfelt like numb little bug, like she
was in a really dark, depressiveplace, but she wanted to write the
song that she wished she did feelAnd I feel like that was important that
sometimes you kind of just have tomanifest your way out of it. And

(42:50):
I think it's hard to write likefun, happy pop songs, but this
one was was really cool to me. I like them. I like the
muted guitar at the beginning too.Even her mic was like muted, Like
it wasn't this crystal clear as likethe other song. Yeah, maybe live
it alone sounds like a bathroom orsomething like that comes in pretty hard.

(43:10):
I like that. Yeah, that'sgreat. So a lot of new music
out today. Going to take thisout for real now covered a lot of
ground today. Now I could reallygo for a nap. I feel like
I'm forcing energy. Yeah, that'shonestly what everyone needs after the super Bowl.
I know it's been a tough week, But any concerts coming up for
any of us besides Leany in March? Yeah, honestly, Wingtip is playing

(43:36):
tonight, Wait tonight. I'm morein Hollywood. I thought about going,
but yeah, my last brain celldoes not want me to get already in
bed. Yeah, it's not going. But we do have a playlist,
