Speaker 1 (00:01):
Here's your host, Alex Garrett, got.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
A hand it.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
You're on the One Leg Up Network to Mayor Eric Adams, who,
as you know, is running as an independent, but while
trying to run that mayoral campaign for twenty five, he's
got to deal with these protests and making sure they
don't become La two point zero.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
And usually said yesterday.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
The escalation of protests in Los Angeles over the last
couple of days is unacceptable and will not be tolerated
if attempted in our city. And I want to ensure
all New Yorkers that.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
We have the best police department in the world, men
and women who are prepared to handle any issues that
may arise, especially when we are faced with deep division
in our society.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
And I'll tell you, it's refreshing to have a mayor
who will not stand for disorder, a chaos.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
It's refreshing to have leadership that says we will not
tolerate this and mean it.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I turned to Jessica Tish, the NYPD commissioner, who has
also been weighing in this week as protests were mounting
in Fully Square, and thanks to her leadership as well,
these protests have not spiral into complete car burnings like
we've seen in LA or The.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
NYPD has been dealing with daily protests really since October seventh,
twenty twenty three. Last night we had one in Lower
Manhattan around Foley Square, which is, as you mentioned, near
where the Federal Building is. In total, we saw about
twenty five hundred people, largely peaceful. We did have a

(01:45):
group of about two hundred who were looking to sew
a little chaos and disorder, and at the New York
City Police Department, we will not tolerate that.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
And so when we look at both cities, New York
and LA, people say, well, that's a very liberal city,
it's too progressive. Finally, this coast, this city is handling
it right. They're making sure it's peaceful protest only. And
I have to say this, if we're gonna have crowds

(02:15):
of people blocking highways and traffic spaces, why don't we
ever have it for causes that are also for I
don't know, American's disabilities or you know, outright injustice for Americans.

(02:36):
Because right now these protests are about immigration, and I
do believe the violent illegals should be taken.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Out those who are trying to make a living in
here illegally. Well, I believe there's a papular decision for
them if they want to do it right.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
But I never see outcry or even support for the
adaptive community.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
In this kind of way. And those are American the
disabilities I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
And so if we can see this rallying against Ice,
we sure as hell should see rallying for Americans who
are underserved because they are Americans first and foremost, and
they need to be prioritized first and foremost. And I

(03:33):
know I'm doing the show from the LR this morning,
but it's a busy day and I wanted to knock
this out before the day started. So thanks for bearing
with me, and they train noises behind me. But I'm
that passionate that I couldn't stay quiet about this anymore.
There are those with disabilities who are and those who
are underserved that deserve to have their voice heard too,

(03:58):
And we don't.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Hear that kind of support for the underserved. We need
to them, we need because these folks are protesting for
those who are here illegally.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Whatever you think of that, that's not the point. The
point is what about those who are here American born
that deal with struggling to make ends meet. That deal
with trying to make the rent, make the pay you know,

(04:37):
make the payday, make it to payday, trying to work
while having benefits because remember the government does not make
that easy. What about support for those who are doing
their best while trying.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
To thrive and survive m and I mean Americans, American born.
Where's the support for us, the American people who are
just trying to do right and do what's lawful while

(05:17):
the law of vaders continue to reap all the benefits.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
That has to change if we wanna have one leg
up for the American people.
