Speaker 1 (00:00):
And so my fellow Americans, ask not what your country
can do for you, ask what you can do for
your country.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Do you remember when JFK said that? If you're around
or have you ever heard that clip before from John F.
Kennedy Junior. I'm sure we all have President Kennedy and
its inaugural address, and he said, ask not what you
can do what the country can do for you, but
(00:35):
what you can do for your country. And as powerful
a statement as that is, mean, how can you give
back into a government that supports you, and how can
you actually do for yourself and not rely on the government. Well,
we've got a twenty twenty five version of that quote.
(00:58):
Lady and gentlemen, ask not what the country can vemo you,
but what you can memo your country. It's come out
over the last couple of days, as onely up on
news update. Beyond the craziness that is Pambondi the Attorney
(01:19):
General skipping a human trafficking conference after she's obviously not
been releasing the Epstein files, that's been crazy, but I
think this one ups it Venmo and Payvalu users. According
to the New York Posts, ari Ariel Zobert can now
send money to the US government to help pay down
(01:40):
thirty six point seven trillion national debt. You can access
the Gifts to Reduce the Public Debt page on pay
dot gov. And the expansion of payment options comes to
a growing concern which has served from nineteen point five
(02:00):
to nine trillion twenty ten to its current level and
increase of eighty seven percent. By the way, this program
has existed since nineteen ninety six. And you know how
many people have contributed to lower our debt. Sixty sixty
seven point three million dollars alone has been contributed to
(02:21):
lower the debt. That's not enough. And of course now
the spending bill and the different spending bills since ninety
six have been passed have raised the debt. And this
big beautiful bill raises the debt. But here comes the
Treasury saying, Hey, if you can't send us a paper checker,
(02:45):
if you can't give us a debit card a credit card,
that's not easy enough for you. Why don't we just
have you give us a Venmo or a PayPal to
help the US government pay down debt? Pretty modernizing way
of saying what JFK said.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Ask, not what your country can do for you ask
what you can do for your country.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Even the New York Post emits this bill is projected
to add an additional three point four trillion dollars to
the debt over the next decade, which the CBO Congressional
Budget Office recently stated. But I have to say this,
if you're going to support the US government through Venmo,
then support your local friends, venmo's, local family members, venmos
(03:37):
people right next to you who have Venmo, support them.
Put a little cash in their venmo. If you're going
to put cash in the caffers of the United States government,
It's amazing because all this comes about eighty eight thirty
five in accessibility. Well, the US government trying to make
(03:59):
it more accessible to donate to the US government. But
I think now it's a perfect time to say, Hey,
if you were a friend, have a Venmo, or a
reminder or a PayPal reminder, support your friend. Put a
few bucks in your friend's venmo. Hell, put a few
bucks in my venmo. If you want alexak Scarrett Dash
(04:22):
twenty one, that's Alex Dash Garrett Dash twenty one. Because
as I told my friend Ryan, if you can support
Uncle Sam, you can support one leg up Alex. Let
me say that again. If you want to support Uncle
Sam and help pay off the national debt through Venmo,
(04:44):
then support your local brands, your local friends, venmos, even
one leg up Alex's Venmo, if you want Alex Dash
Garrett da'sh twenty one, Alex Dash Garrett DA's twenty one.
Because all of us can do some kind of debt
in our lives, and if we're going to help reduce
the governments, why not help our next door neighbor or
(05:06):
our friend or our family member. That's the story that
I take away from here on one Like up on News,
it isn't the fact that Congress has shut down for
however many weeks now because they don't want to touch the
up seam file votes. It's not just Pam Boundy called
(05:27):
out sick to a human trafficking conference. It's this right here.
How can we support each other? Because again, if it's
going to be told to you that PayPal and Venmo
are going to be used to the US government, then
all of us should come out of our shell and say, hey,
I've got a venmo, to support my venmo, ad to
(05:50):
my funding, you know, to buy work, reduce myb you
know that that type of thing, So I just found
that a little comical and also a little capitalistic. Look,
capitalism is society. We capitalize on stories like this, don't we.
Alex Dash Garrett Dash twenty one is my vemo. That's right.
You can support the work that I'm doing at One
(06:12):
Leg Up Alex that way, and I got a couple
of updates here before I release the Big Shabang, which
is perspectives from so many voices in the disabled community.
I'm going to release that later today for ADA thirty five,
but I also will say that grant that we were
(06:37):
fortunate enough to get at a DA Spark twenty twenty
five Heinenz and Supiscardi Center. Well, I'm running with it.
I have now applied to do a partnership with Toyota
because I found out today through podcasts tonight that Toyota, Toyota,
the car company lead in podcasts and spending so many
(07:03):
sales reps from Toyota are listening to this. I'm Alex Garrett,
and I would love to partner with Toyota. I would
do the One Leg Up Alex Crutch stand in front
of Toyota dealerships to make it happen. Why not, because
I believe Toyota could help serve the disabled community even
(07:23):
better through adaptive cars partnering with companies that make adaptive cars.
Put that as a feature as a line of toyotas
rite in Dinver Back to school, by the way, that's
the whole point. We want to make accessibility happen for
the new school year. September is right on the corner.
(07:44):
And if Toyota wants to pitch in and help support
the disabled community through this podcast, I would be so owned.
So let's speak that into the existence right here at
one leg up with Alex Garrett again. VENMO now a
preferred option to give back to the government and contribute
(08:05):
to the sixty seven million dollars already since nineteen ninety six,
just need I don't know thirty six something trillion dollars more.
But we'll get there, right, we gotta find other ways.
I don't know if the tariffs are really going to
be the answer in the long term. These spending bills
(08:26):
keep getting passed. The debt is ballooning, as a New
York Post alliterates too. But yes, your VENMO to the
US Treasury will make a difference. Well, if you're gonna
try and make a difference in the US debt, you
can make a difference in people's lives right around you
by asking them what their VENMO is and if you
(08:48):
want to support mine again, Alex Dash, Garrett Dash twenty
one is my venmo. This has been my quote unquote
Ted talk and we'll talk to you soon for the
eighty eight thirty five big sh obeying of all the
different voices I've had on to talk about accessibility and
improving accessibility thirty five years after the landmark signing of
(09:10):
the Americano Diessibilities Act. Hearing all these voices will help
us have one leg up in the movement for more accessibility.
