Speaker 1 (00:09):
All right, and welcome to another slim TV Sunday. It
is the first NFL Week one Swim TV Sunday, and
my friends, we have done it here. I won le
a Balx thanks to you, thanks to my fiance Gaby
and so many friends along the way have supported me.
And thanks to my returning guest who was very first
(00:33):
episode of me the eve of Super Bowl Sunday in
twenty fourteen, Sean Hughes, You're back with me fifty thousand
downloads later. I want to reconnect and share this moment
with you, man, and I hope all is well been
since then. But of course, what do we do. We
talk sports, So let's dive right into it. The Giants today.
(00:57):
You know, I didn't know if they'd win or not
because the the Commanders seemed like one of the best
teams in the league. But were you disappointed? How does want?
Were you in today's loss?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's been a year after the year year the same,
It's been the same old story. It just you know,
when I noticed the day it is great, you know,
when people could I mean, it's shredded to this and
it's true, but have not been the same since calf
One that it's been and I know it's been in
a long time, but.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
We need we need someone who knows what the heck
they're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
The Giants are not the Giants anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
It's gonna be the same old story. You don't think
you go up.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I mean, honestly, man, we needed something has to be done,
you know, And I know we're only in week one,
but you.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Know it's gonna be It's sadly gonna be the same old.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Story, you know, and you know it's worse. Is I
could I could handle a struggling Giants with Daniel Jones
because all of a sudden, now he's a starter and
a and a and a you know, almost MVP type
of game for the Colts winning their first opening Day
since twenty thirty. I mean, that's unbelievable. But anyway, uh,
(02:14):
I'm disappointed because I thought with a stacked you know,
QB room with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, Jackson Dart
and at the time Tommy DeVito. Out of those four guys,
you'd expect something, especially out of the veterans, But Russell
just looked overpowered by the commanders. Is it Washington, you know,
(02:35):
defense or is this an aging Russell Now that we're seeing.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
It'll be interesting to watch what having what the Giants
is going on.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
If if visit is.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
What the the it's going to be.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
You know, well yeah, yeah, unfortunately, you know, well, Sean,
I have to say this. I thought going into the year,
Dabele was given the keys and given the tools to
win with who he has. I mean, neighbors always a
bit injured. But he looked fine today, but neighbors dealing
(03:17):
with that injury. So from from training camp, you have, uh,
you got this amazing draft pick in Abdul Carter, You've
got dark, You've given tools to Dabel and I don't
I think this year, if he can't do anything this year,
he might be gone. Come next to September, come next
you know, come February.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I agree.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
You know, like I said, thing, I mean, we want
to judge. We've gone through this guy.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
We want through GM at the GM you know, and
you know it just hadn't missed the Giants, had not
been the Gyant a year.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
And then that's just what we said.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
That disappointing, you know, I mean, like they said, there's
don't work, there's don't work for.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Out of the times have been last several years.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
And you know Gettleman. The last straw with Gettleman was
that Jones was released. I mean that is how that's
the mark of the Gettleman legacy is how badly then
you seem to have messed up to Daniel Jones. I
know he was good for one year, but that was it.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Yeah, and you and I think so, I think I
think we're gonna get fired.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I think I know that's why he finally added just behind,
because you know, he get fired. Same all throwing. We've
gone through gm D. Something is something with the team
has to be has to be done.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Now you kind of questioned what I mean, Yeah, I'm
not listen, I'm not asking them to bring the town
call from back.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
The men's is.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Late eight, you know, seven eighty. He's not gonna want
to coach again. Bring bring someone, do someone call from White,
bring someone back?
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Who's man? Know what the heck that doing the locker room?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Oh Kennedy. You know, basically if he's heading the butt,
that what's gonna need to happen? And the one the
weak ones like this, maybe what the rest of the
speed is gonna be.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Oh and look I know it's the Commanders, but next
week's having the Chargers, and they looked good against the
Chiefs on Friday night in Brazil. That hardball Herbert connection
is for real. And I'd love to see a Burns
dexter Lawrence Abdul Carter uh caveon Thibodeaux line stop them.
(06:01):
But I don't know, because then if they can't stop Herbert,
you offense won't generate anything. We could be looking at
him too. And I am trying to stay adoptimistic as possible,
but after today, my optimism is dampened. I wouldn't say
little bit. I would say quite a bit.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
We need to do better, that's all.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
That's what I'm saying. If we're not doing if we're
not doing any better than what you know, and something's
gonna be done. You know, Marin Tish had to figure
out what the.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Hell is going on? Yah, both of them. Man.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Any times. You know, like I said, I think giants
can't have had it we I mean, yeah, we're told
that when when we win, to someone to sit back
and enjoy it.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
But you know, Giant fans are hungry for another. We've
been We've been hungry for people.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Quite some time, and the fact that you know, danger
had not gone the way they have, I'm not going,
well they could and dunk part k all.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Right, Well, you know one of the other passions you
have for sure is about the Yanks, and we're gonna
talk about them too, because finally there's a divisional hope
around the corner. They took two out of three against
the Blue Jayden team that look, I know they the
Yanks went down seven games against the Blue Jays, But Sean,
(07:34):
I have to say, for the first time since that
part of June, I say they have divisional hopes? Were
you hopeful after this weekend.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
If we keep going the way Monald keeps will be
if we keep winning in a chance, it's always a chance.
But these guys have come back, you know always.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
We know that.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Well, with that being said, a.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Lot of there's a lot of angry Yankee bits.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Up there, you know, and I've been I've been a
silent supporter of Aaron Bone, but you haven't wonder it's
not Bone.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
I mean, let me ask you this.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
You know, do you think if I've won the analytics
they have more hope than common.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Right, the analytics department, is it drives me nuts. I
wish Boone would manage with this guy. Look, John, you
may disagree with me, there's a reason why he won
one hundred games for the first three seasons as Yankee manager.
He managed with his gut. He didn't manage of analytics,
so to speak. I don't know where the change went.
But if you can only keep managing with the gut,
(08:45):
he has a winning formula. I know that Bennar and
Deval and Williams and Weaver have been struggling at times,
but if you use them consistently, consistently, they can pull
and provide some support work in the in the back
end of that game.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Let me ask you this if and I'm saying this
for argument sake, Okay, okay, and what ship I'm trying
to get the guy's last name Colors?
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Thank you. Butler had econ.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Complete you know what I mean? A passed his first
had he paid no hitter in a perfect game?
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Well that was Clark Smith you're thinking of, because remember he.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Switzler was the first time out. He was like he
was crooling.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Oh I think he had six per beginnings if I'm
not mistaken something like that.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
No, no.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Smittler was cruding through most of the most of through
most of the game, and then he had like that
one bad pitch and it's like, you know, it's like
okay because boon thinking.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
I remember it was one of the games where.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
It might have been he uh.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Might have been Heal who was going into the.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Eighth and went like a perfect game or whatever.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
And bone poll of them and you kind of wonder,
what the heck Thick, Yeah, I a president. You know
you want to pull the guy.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
But but if you if you have yah, if you
pitch that still has gas in the tank, no might
not go. You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (10:41):
He stay with your guy, all right? And I saw
this early on with Clark Schmidt. Remember he took that
no hair into like the eighth into this eighth inning,
and they took him out after seven. And I wish
he was out there for the eighth inning, I really do,
because he was.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
He was he was cruising, you know what to finding
about Uh?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I thought he got traded.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Yeah, No, Unfortunately Schmid has undergone Tommy John surgery. And
I wondered if not letting him fully let throw the
rest of that game to its natural end whatever it
was going to be. Through them affle of it. I
don't know. I'm just speculating here, But anyway, to your point, John,
the pitch counts are are a big deal, and it
(11:32):
does feel like if they can't get through the fifth
or sixth, we're worried every game, aren't we probably probably?
Speaker 2 (11:40):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Like I said, you know.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
We need to stop. We need to go by cut
and not by analytics. Let's said they ended that we
go by analytics and it go from bad to Warrens.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Oh, with that one correct on that it's it's like
they need to I don't want to say throw away
the analytics department, but they need to. They need to
just focus on the cut and manage that way. But
what I'm liking to see now is I like, I
like seeing a guy like Austin Wells leaving the league
(12:20):
in sacrifice flies. I mean, they need to get some
runs besides the home run ball.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Yeah, I agree, I think that. I think the Yankees,
and you know me, I'm die hard and bray.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
By the Yankees. But let's get honest.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
If it's too home.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Run happy over the last several years and that.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Kind they don't play enough they don't play enough small ball,
and that that's what really has done.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
You know, I want to say more harm than good,
you know, Oh.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, no without adapt So let me ask you this.
We're now heading into this next stress stretch of games
where we're gonna face the Tigers. We've already we've already
took the series from Houston, We've already took the series
from the Blue Jays. This twelve game stretch is starting
out well. Cannot continue into Detroit? I think it can.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
I think we get.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Gals if we if we stand in the way, well that.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
We are, I think we Okay. If not, you know,
heads might roll, but I might be wrong.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
You know, Nope, You're not wrong. And you know what's
going to be interesting is I believe they're going to
face Tarik school Ball either WEDNESDA or Thursday, because that'll
be his fifth day out. And I want to say
how they handle school ball if they do face them
the series. I really want to see how that matchup goes.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yeah, it'll be It'll be interesting.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Let me ask you this kind say, being twenty twenty, okay, you.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Know, and.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
My opinion, and because I've.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Been saying it for for months on end. I ain't
even month years on end at the ages. Let's say,
for arguments, they don't make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Okay, okay, okay, all right, they don't make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
We finally pulled a trigger on Cashman, the.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Same thing Man, and it's like you kind of had
to wonder we haven't won fifteen years, you know, and
then it goes straight to hell, you know, wonder when
when is it.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Gonna be enhing?
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Not? You're you're right. Look, I do think though Cashman
did load up with the deadline. I think he did
have a better deadline. I even think you go back
to last year, Jazz Chisholm was a good acquisition at
the deadline and he's become a big part of the
Yankees' role. And I know it was, oh, are you
(15:00):
you're defending Cashman. Well, I'm just stating facts. He has
come away from the last two deadlines successfully. But I'll
tell you why people are worried about Cashman. Today's a
perfect example. You know what they honored today at Yankee Stadium.
They honored Tzi Sabathia and his induction to the Hall
(15:20):
of Fame today at Yankee Stadium, And you know, why
I'm bringing that up, Sean. I'm bringing that up because
in two thousand and nine, at two thousand and eight,
after the new stadium, Old Same was closed, they didn't
make the postseason. It was Gerardi's first year. Cashman brought
(15:42):
along two guys that revitalized that Yankee tea Sees Sabathia
and Mark Tischrif And ever since then and ever since,
other moments were bringing an a rod. They're waiting, Yankee
fans are waiting for that next big acquisition. Well, it
may never come. You have to be proud of the
(16:03):
acquisitions that they have. Now, Bendor is becoming your closure.
We don't have to worry about Devin Williams completely blowing
your game because now at least if he he does,
it's in the eighth inning and not at the end
of the game. I mean, I don't know. I'm trying
to look at the bright side of that hole Devin
Williams situation. But the point is he's brought in reinforcements,
(16:23):
which he needed to do. But if they don't make it,
I think the eyes turned to Boone and what they
do at that level. I know he signed it to
your extension, but again, it's going to be. I think
if they make the postseason, he's safe. I think they
(16:44):
not only make the postseason and win a few rounds,
he's safe. But Sean, I want to get your take
on this. There are so many that say, oh, I
wish the Yanks would just not make the playoffs so
they can reevaluate and clean house. Why do you what's
the point in rooting against the Yankees success. I never
understand it. I want them to win every year. I
don't care what what that means in the office. I
(17:05):
want them to win now.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
And I know I agree, you know, I think I
think the only thing with the Yankees is that they're good.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
They for the most part, have had it. They like.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yigvans, have had it, and they want you know, the
problem of yank you'll agree.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
With differently, but yak are too uh.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
They're too winning happy, because that makes sense, like they
won't want them. And what I mean by that is
that they they want them win every year. And you know,
it's not like it's not like we're back in ninety six.
It's not like we're back in ninety six where we
you know, we well, we went through that incredible incredible run.
(17:55):
You know, it's not like we can do that again.
That's never going to be defeated, you know, getting you know,
getting another core for will never be repeated.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
You know.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
That's and I think Yankee fans, you know, if they
were Yankee fans, is that we're we're patient. We're patient bunch.
But it's been fifteen years, you know that. Yankee beans,
I think we're proster and they kind of add you
gotta get to the point where like, hey, we want
(18:28):
we ain and we play. You know, it's like where
would point the finger?
Speaker 1 (18:37):
You know, No, it's it's you're right, it does become that.
But hey, if they can win some games, I think
the finger pointing will be leave it. They just want
to win the world. Yankee fans just want to go
down the canon the heroes and win the world series again.
That's that's what it's all about. So we'll have to see.
(18:58):
I gotta I gotta say, Sean, you know, never really
we did talk about it a little bit back in
the day, but I want you to share because I
shared our first episode yesterday. As you know, I want
you to share a bit about your story because since
we've talked I've developed this whole network about adaptability and
about the Viscardi School, and you are an example of adaptability.
(19:20):
You're adapting every day to in your life. So tell
us your story a little bit, because I want people
to know who Shown Hughes is when he's not watching
baseball and what life is like. I mean, you know,
we got a lot out of Viscardi School together and
here we are fifteen sixteen years later talking sports.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Oh man, it's crazy. It's well. My story, My story
is a crazy one.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
I was in the public school system for several years. No,
you know, I hope you know now I'm not gonna right,
but a lot of personaliself was.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
And so.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Viscardi in nineteen ninety seven. You know, I was well
open arms, you know everybody. You know, I got to
know everybody. I was, you know, I got close with
a few people, you know, and then you know, it
kind of just took over from there.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
I had my own, you know, my own crew. You know.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I had my guys.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I mean, I had.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Eric Swimmer, I had.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
You know, my friend mayhe Rest and Beef Tennis and
end is just a lot of people I got very cool.
I had Serena I had a lot of close you
know people, I knew I could count on my one
bad year, you know, which was because of five. There
(20:47):
was a lot of there was a lot of things
that was going on that year, and you know, I
just I just left. I was very unhappy anti end,
you know, for personally, but for the most part, man,
it's it's been it's been fun.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
You know.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Yeah, I got to see you know, I go back
and I see everybody and everybody morning, what's up, what's
going on?
Speaker 3 (21:11):
I go a head not nothing that I got.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
I got a new niece, you know, I got you know,
I try to take you know, I try to keep
my my stuff, you know, more service level.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
You know. I got three. I have a new nephew,
and a nephew was born last year.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
A godparents to do the two my three nieces and nephews.
It's just it's been fun, man, It's just been personal.
You know, Am I am I where I want to
be right now?
Speaker 3 (21:47):
No, but you know we do.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
I have time, absolutely but you know, Tim motel where
things go.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
From here.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Absolutely well. And I'm so proud. I'm so proud of
and happy that you're probably being an uncle and all
that fun stuff. And I haven't seen you in a
little bit. Have you been going to the sports and
tournaments of Biscardi lately or o that?
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah, I was supposed to go, but now they came up.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
You know, hopefully that you're on that.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Hopefully that you're on that.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
You know, we'll see, we'll see what happened from you know,
we'll see what happened, you know, if it, if it
fits my schedule.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
How you doing there?
Speaker 1 (22:29):
You know, well, Seawna, I love catching up and you know,
the hockey season starting up momentarily. Remember the Islanders always
would still and they still do go out to Viscardi.
I'm sure you remember those hockey days.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Oh yeah, I remember when I met pack up. Wait
guy by the way, and uh, by the way.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Did you know this? Tell me if you know this?
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Okay, it's a leak the lady to guess what I
said it again.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Guess who? Guess who Michael Pecker is believing too.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
I believe someone in your family, right, not me? I mean, man,
uh well it's someone I'm I don't remember who though.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Tell us okay, Ankowski.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Okay, that's right, So that made Yeah, I think I
remember that connection now.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
So he was playing for the Segas at the time,
and I'm like, and I'm I'm a Dieard Island of fants.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
When to go on in this playing time?
Speaker 2 (23:38):
The minute the minute he he joined the Islanders, I met,
I mean, such a good guy. Who was you know?
Speaker 3 (23:45):
I actually I actually you don't notice. But before I
came to Muscari, I met with Ulan. Oh wow, remember
what Mike Pilan and all those guys came, you know, Scarni.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
I do not remember that.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
I didn't know how to remember that.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
It was so long ago. But I met me before
I went to the Nashall College team and they were
doing you know, an autograph signing whatever. I got to
meet meet, met the people on the h at the
Nashall College seum.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Well, I do remember when Gillies and nic Stroam used
to come over to Viscardi and be part of our
sports night with them.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
I'm in that man at sports night.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
That's a great guy. The two of them were great.
And Rogobert of course always coming through to Viscardi. Tell me,
tell me, tell the audience a little bit about if
you don't mind your disability, because I've never really asked you,
but tell us and how you adapt that every day
because are now our mission is talk about adaptability and
(24:53):
talk about people's stories now they're adapting to help others
adapt as well.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Well. I mean, like I said, I don't I don't
do too much. I just I walk every day. I
you know, I keep.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Myself as active as I can. The only time I
don't The only time I don't walk is tweet that
during the week time, you know, so I have my
time to just you know, relaxed.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
We'll go for me, spend time. You know that's uh.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
To me, good me, just for those you know, three
months and I'm just full of a lax.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Don't think you possible.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Well, I love to hear that you're doing well. And
I hope to see you astarted school school soon. And uh,
you know, when we were doing this thirteen fourteen years ago,
who knew we'd be at this state right where we're
at fifty thousand downloads and remember the blog talk radio days.
I mean, there's just a lot of things we got
to work out and now here we are.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Absolutely, Man, it's been it's been very it's been fun
to watch, you know.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
And you you were definitely a big part of this
and I'd love to have you on more, uh as
we get along in this season, because I meant I
miss your insights.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Oh yeah, man, we the thing.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
What I think what happened was things.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Got crazy, but you know, wife kind of.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Interfewed with wife. You know, it was just it was
just one of those things where.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Not that I didn't want to call if you think
I had a lot going.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
On, absolutely, and and you know it was I ended
up in radio out of all, you know, alongside this.
So the parallel journey is very real. But it's nice
to now I gotta ask you this. So Gallay and
I had seen South Paul on Jim Abbot about Jim Abbott.
Did you see that special? And do you remember meeting
Jim Abbott Viscardi.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
I do remember meeting Jim Abbott. And I ain't telling
you this and this was Bet and I'm and I'm
confessing to see you only okay because you.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
You're kind of like a non general zone with me.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
I remember watching his No hitter and I was still
a med at the time, and I said, wow, this
guy just I didn't even know he did. I didn't
know he had like I used to said when I
was a kid, I.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Used to.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
Boat and it was crazy though No hitor and it
was just insane, like he's got I.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Mean, it's not as it's not as big as it
Wasn't I don't think. I mean, because there's a lot
of history at the Home Stadium. People people remember the
the three, the three no uh, the three, the three perfect.
(28:00):
Never talk about the docor Cunning no or hit her.
They never talk about the gym habit No hit her.
And when I when I had a chance to meet.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Him and he signed my bow, he goes, you.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Know, he.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
You know, I was like the rest of them are
Yankee Nation was star shocked.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
I used to be, you know.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
I would watch him and be like, I'm like.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Like I don't when I get I'm certain people, I
really don't.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
And anybody who knows me knows that I run my
mouth of my own. And when I met when I.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Met Bay, when I met when I met all the
all those Yankees you know, and I and I met
maddingly to make action. It took me five to ten
minutes to talk to the man. I'm like, in my head,
I'm playing.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
To myself for God, Man, take you a friend of mine,
A man, will you before?
Speaker 2 (29:08):
So for me and Megan it was like, okay, you
get go together. And now now he's in Florida, so.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
No, it's quite amazing. Sean Well. I loved when he
came to Viscardi. He and Guscasage were on the stage
with us at the Viscardi Center and that special was
so so spa. I recommend anybody who wants to watch it.
It's it is a tear jerker, So you're gonna cry
a lot, in a lot of happy tears because of
(29:43):
the journey he went through. But you know what the
interesting thing about him was and sort of like this, See,
we don't want to be defined by our disability, but
by our thoughts, by our by our performance in life,
and by our uh progress some life and all throughout
his career. You know, he never wanted to be defined
by the army. Just wanted to be defined as a
(30:05):
great picture.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Absolutely, and he didn't he didn't.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Like the word inspiration, and I think that goes for
a lot of people. We hate the word inspiration sometimes,
right Sean, Sean, I think I lost you there.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, I'm here, man.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
I was saying, I don't know if people in the
same community like the Warren inspiration. I know Jim Abbott
did not.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Uh, I don't.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
By the way, we point to get a little uh
no personal sort for.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Me to tell you. Sure, you know I recently turned forty.
I think that it's in staring me out.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Okay, keep sharing more.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Okay, but guess you're sharing me out? Man? Oh?
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Who did who shared you out?
Speaker 3 (31:07):
It was my fortieth birthday?
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Right, Okay, guess you're.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Sharing me out?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Oh my Tino, you know another good friend of the
Miscartish Center. I mean, he was there a couple of years.
He was there last year.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
It's a funny thing.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
I didn't even know.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
I didn't even know about it.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
I was like, I guess, I guess there's this new
social media thing called cameo or whatever.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Yes, that's correct.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
And Megan, my my siblings set up the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
So I turned forty, and and then I get the
message from Tino.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
I was like, I had my siblings for years. I
go how how?
Speaker 2 (31:55):
I asked him from up to like, I'm like, how
my part?
Speaker 1 (32:00):
You know?
Speaker 2 (32:02):
It was?
Speaker 3 (32:04):
It was a very shocking surprise, that's all you would say.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
You know, Sehan, did you ever compete at the Empire
State Games.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
I did. It was a long.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Time ago, but I did. Basically, I play record later
that day.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
But I also went to the.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
The Irish American Games.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
I won two gold, three gold, won silver. You know,
I was I worked my tail off, let's put it
that way. You know. I man, I'm very competitive.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
I'm a little crazy, but I'm I'm also a little competitive,
you know. It's part of my teams through se.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
No I hate.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Well, yeah, and I'll tell you. I remember we did
Friday night rec and you actually did in the alumni
game a couple because you played for the Cubbies and Cougars, right, No,
I only did.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
The hockey thing, and that was like maybe, let's see,
it was one year in sixth.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Grade, and then.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
The following year I played for the for the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
You know, and and.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Then that and then I guess, no, I mean I
ain't because I didn't really play.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
I didn't really play, and.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
I just I just did the hockey thing at the.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Time, you know, Yeah, no hockey. I think it was.
Oh and we used to be on the stage while
you guys played hockey on the main gym floor. It
was it was a lot of fun. And there was
a whole league to it too.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Yep, there were the raiders. There were uh the level.
They were, oh, very rebels on the nights, you know.
I mean, like I said, I'm a very competitive person.
Oh and uh, I didn't tell you this, but I
(34:18):
think this was last year and I uh and I forgot,
uh this was last year, and I said, I was
I was that one my mom one day and I
see I see a guy I recognize and get who
it was.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Who's that Broun? Oh wow, I know man.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Small world.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
I'm want my mom, I'm my mama. I think I
didn't know that guy. And it turned out to be good.
I'm like, how you go, how's it going?
Speaker 3 (34:49):

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Long time?
Speaker 1 (34:51):

Speaker 1 (34:56):
