Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, and here are one leg of Blex Sports.
Before we get to Terminello's take, I just want to
wish happy birthday to my friend Kaylin, who major Yankee fan.
You probably shared the Yankee games all the time. It's
a happy birthday to her. Wanted to give her that
shout out. October fourteenth. A lot of libras I know
celebrating birthdays this month, which is which is pretty exciting.

(00:21):
But now, without further ado Terminello's take, All right, well,
here on one leg of Alex Sports. This time. We
did some news earlier today, but you know, we gotta
cover our sports. We gotta do Tourminello's take, because just
two days after the disastrous London game, Bye way, lou
that wait, is it a Jets curse in London two

(00:43):
years in a row? Of course, last year they fired Seila,
you know after the London trip. I don't know that's
gonna happen a first year head coach Aaron Glenn. However,
you're not happy with what the Jets head coach is,
how he's leading the team and now they're checked notes
oh in six, My goodness.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Alex, thank you for having me as always another Goode
another week, enjoying talking to you. I have watched a
lot of Jets football in my sixty plus years, and
I've seen terrible coaching, and I've seen terrible quarterback play.
But what I saw on Sunday was comical, as you know,

(01:25):
and we have you know, we have the audio evidence.
I didn't want a rookie head coach. Again, I didn't
want a defensive coach I wanted. I didn't want a
defensive veteran coach, but I wanted an offensive coach. I
know six games is too early to make a final

(01:47):
analyzation on the coach, but it looks like this coaching state,
led by Aaron Glenn, who was a terrific player for
the Jets, is not ready to be an NFL called coach.
He was clueless on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I mean him running up and down the sideline. I've
got blockfield goal against Cleveland was was just not not
good enough. I mean, that was a fun moment, but
they lost the game anyway.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I just, well, again, you call it.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
You want to have enthusiastic on enthusiasm on the sidelines,
but let's face it, the close of halftime was absolutely
embarrassing and Uh, Justin Fields, who hasn't been terrible up
until Sunday when he was amateurish and uh, I was

(02:35):
one of my Jets friends was texting me in the
first half and I texted them back saying, they really
have to sit them down and put Taylor in. Taylor
has a take charge personality and Field just is playing terribly.
The thing is, Alex Fields has no charisma. I mean

(03:00):
even if you see him in his postgame press conferences,
he has no pulse. He's not an NFL starting quarterback. Yes,
he's a terrific athlete, but that doesn't make him a quarterback.
Can he play in this league as a backup? Yes,
and we know that he was only here as a
stopgap for the Jets. He wasn't a going to be

(03:22):
there full time next decade quarterback. But what I saw
on Sunday or it was terrible. I mean, he is
not an NFL starter, and they made a mistake by
hiring in experience coach, general manager, offensive coordinator. You know,

(03:51):
Tanner Instrom did nothing to help Fields on Sunday. He
didn't roll him out, by the way, and you can't
play in the offensive line. You realize that the Jets
went on past on passing downs when they lead the
NFL in past protection and I didn't even notice that
existed until yesterday morning at three seconds, which is number

(04:13):
one in the NFL. But Alex, this was supposed to
be the year where they gave the fan base, the
tortured worldwide loyal Jet fan base, some hope, some confidence
because the roster isn't that bad and it's not the owner.

(04:37):
It's not the it's not Woody Johnson because from the
early seventies two thousand when the Jets were making the
playoffs sporadically like they've done for the last twenty five years,
not to the last eleven years. But Leon Hess was
the owner. So it's not the owner. And this roster
isn't that bad. They should, I mean, they should be

(04:59):
a a five or six win team, which means crap,
but at least it means something.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
As you're talking about this roster, and of course I
think of two guys whose primes clearly being wasted, Garrett
Wilson and Sauce Gardner. I mean, those two are talented
and they're just not being utilized. Right. It just it
pisses me off to know those two guys. Primes are
in the situation right now, Louis, And you.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Make a good point.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
And remember NFL primes are shorter than any other sport
because of the injury factor, the fact that it is
a rock them, sock them game, and uh, you lose
your you know, you lose your skills quickly, very quickly.

(05:48):
The roster isn't that bad, but you have to have
the quality quarterback, which they've never found, and you have
to have the quality coaching combination. Look at Drake May
with the Patriots. But again, this was supposed to be
a transition year for the Jets, giving the hope that
next year and the year after would be would be.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
You know, an upswing to contention. But the arrow is
pointing down right now. It's so depressing. It's disappointing.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
And you know, the scoring was almost the same as
it was against Denver last year. I mean, it was
that close and it came down to a couple of
points like it did last year. That's frustrating too, because
I think the Jets could be bone Nicks in another universe,
but they should be able to beat the guy.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Well here it is that bow Knicks had his second
straight bad game against the Jets, and the Jets still
lost both games. So the Jets recover fumble on the
first Denver series at the Denver twenty four. They were
they went so conservative. There was no aggressive offensive strategy

(07:00):
because they have no confidence in justin fields and Denver
stacked the box so you couldn't run on them. You know,
like I said, they did nothing to take the bull
by the horns. They recovered that fumble at the Denver
twenty four, they selled for a field goal. They played
to lose. Then they get the big kickoff after Denver

(07:22):
ties up at three to three to the thirty seven
of Denver, the same thing, nothing happened, and Folk kicked
a you know, a fifty three yard field goal. He
need to be benched at halftime. Maybe maybe you want
to give him the first series of the third quarter.
But again he's he's a bridge quarterback until a draft,

(07:44):
until this draft in twenty twenty six in April, where
the Jets will draft the quarterback in the first round.
But the offensive coordinator Tayloringstrom was an embarrassment on Sunday.
Aaron Glenn was an embarrassment on Sunday. Fields was an
embarrassment on Sunday, and uh, it's I mean, here I was.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
Thinking that Fields just need a different system, is it?
Is he the problem? I mean, I don't know any well.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Again, he's not an NFL quarterback. He's not a championship
level close to a championship level NFL quarterback. And he's
been on three teams in five years. Mike Tomlin benched
him with a four and two record last year once
Russell Wilson, who obviously is on his last couple of

(08:36):
years if this is his last year, who knows. Last year,
as soon as Wilson guy healthy, he put Wilson back
in the game, back in as the starting quarterback in
bench fields. So field is not the answer. I mean
even you can even criticize the Jet for signing Fields,
even though it's only two years. They could have signed

(08:56):
Matt Jones for less as a stop gap.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
And you mentioned Mac Jones. Let me, let me tell
you the experiment in San Francisco. It's been needed, right
because Perdy's not been one hundred percent, He's been injured
some of the season, and now Kittles goes down as well.
But you know, having Mac Jones there has been a
huge boost for San Francisco, I think without a doubt.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
I mean, you have to have a serviceable backup quarterback
and Mac Jones has done that for San Francisco. He's
won three games for them already, and Alex, if he
wins one more game, he gets a four hundred thousand
dollars bonus this year. If he wins one more game

(09:42):
for San Francisco this year, now, I think Party might
play the next game, but I'm not so sure. But
you gotta have a guy like Mac Jones. He's is
he a Hall of Famer? No, but the Jets could
have used him, and they're much cheaper than a twenty
million that they're paying Fields. Fields was great in the

(10:03):
opener against Pittsburgh, a game the Jets should have won.
The football gods did not smile on them. They should
have won that game against Pittsburgh. And Field's probably played
his best game as a pro that day. But you know,
a long term, it's not it's not it's not happening.
It's just not happening. So we gotta But the thing

(10:25):
is he got. You gotta win a couple of games
because then the locker room, uh becomes split. You saw
what Garrett Wilson walking off with Aaron Glenn at the
end of the half saying what what are we doing?
What happened at the end of the half was terrible,
Letting the clock run out like that, not getting closer

(10:47):
for a field goal, not even getting throwing a hail
Mary at the end of the half where you might
get a defensive interference penalty.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
It was just Sunday was as bad.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
And like I said, I've seen many embarrassing Jet moments
and this was an embarrassment. If what he wasn't happy
last year in London because he has all his friends
in London from when he was the UK ambassador for
the United States Sunday, if I was Woody, I would

(11:19):
have put a bag over my head.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
A Brown won at that, you know, you know what
the best weekend though, I mean the best weekend because
the division team's lost, including the Eagles to the Giants
in seventeen point passion and you know, full disclosure, we
actually talked before that game. I just couldn't get a
chance to post it. But you were worried about him
going into that game. But Scatterbo is the deal and

(11:44):
I knew it when they drafted him in April. He
was going to bring an energy to this team. They
haven't had it in a while. And I feel like
I've been proven right because he's he's bringing this energy.
He's got the backflip going, he's got the great runs going,
and we love Tyrone Tracy, but come on the with
tuning with him in Scannabo and the Wayte Cannibal can
also be a receiver and whatever it's it's working out.

(12:05):
The dart Scat era is here.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Louis Well, I don't know if we've had an era,
but yes, they have given what exactly what you said.
They have given the Giants energy. They've given the fan
base energy. It's charismatic, it's the players. The players feel it.
And that's the one thing Justin Fields does not do.

(12:29):
And I was I was surprised that the Giants scored
put thirty up to the thirty fourth spot on the Eagles,
and obviously the Eagles have some internal issues. Again, I
don't know if this is going to be like the
end of twenty three when they lost five out of
their last six and just fell apart. When they started

(12:51):
ten and one, lost five out of six and then
lost their first round playoff game. I don't know if
that happens, you'll see, uh a breakup of of this
of this Eagles team. But the Giants deserve to win
the Giants. The Giants were dominant.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, but this, this breakup of the Eagle looks so
dramatic because you know, they just won the World super
Bowl last year. You wouldn't know it if you looked
at this team over the last few weeks and the
internal combustion as you're talking about. But yeah, the Giants
have hopes. Dable looks like the man for making the
quarterback change. To me, he looks like the coach right

(13:33):
now for making that change.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Well, I think I think that's a little strong. Uh.
You know, they have a winnable game Sunday in Denver,
and uh, you know they have some winnable games coming up.
And the league is very up and down. It's a
week to week league. As we said in the past. Uh,
Dallas has no defense and they have a terrific offense.

(13:59):
And you know, everybody wants to crap on Dak Prescott
year in and year out, year in and year out.
Dak Prescott. Prescott is a leader, He's a he's an
outstanding quarterback. I think he's one of the one of
the top quarterbacks in the NFL. I think he's right now,
he's the best quarterback in the NFC East by far.

(14:21):
And uh but Dallas is going nowhere because they can't
They couldn't stop me at you, Alex and uh so,
But yes, the loss, the three losses by the NFC
East teams bringing their division together makes makes it for
an interesting uh week coming up, no doubt about it,

(14:42):
and going to another division, not only the NFC East,
look at look at the the AFC East the last
two weeks. Uh We said it on his show before
Buffalo depends too much on Josh Allen and John down
was a little bit off last night. The rest of

(15:02):
the team's not that good, Alex. I'm not saying that
they can't win the Super Bowl because there's the injury
factor and uh so many other factors.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Okay, they're missing Diggs and also.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Well, Diggs's not don't forget about this, Alex. Diggs is
nothing they get. They're missing Digson's that's not that's not
I mean, Diggs has been great for New England, but
it's not affecting.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
It's not affecting Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
What's affecting Buffalo is they they can't stop anybody. Matt
Mulano is injured. Again. He is the guy who is
the key guy for their defense and he has a
peck injury. And this guy is always injured because he
plays hard. But again Alex said, depending too much on
one guy. They're depending on on Josh Allen to take

(15:52):
care of all their ills, all the bumps in the
road that they have. Oh we got Josh Allen. That's
no good sometimes, and I think it's going to buy
them in a butt. I think New England might have
a chance to stay within the rest of the way.
Alex that, I mean, they beat him in Buffalo. That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
And you might think I'm controversial saying this. I think
we've seen the changing of the guard. And I know
it's too soon to say that, but come on, it
looks like the Patriots could win that n a f
C East.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
I mean that's right, absolutely, target they can win. They
can't win the a FC East in a transition here
for them. So you are one hund correct?

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
It looks like Drake May Yes, it's still early. It
looks like he is truly, truly the real deal.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
As as they.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Say, the kid has a kid has a little cockiness
to him. He can throw on a run, he's a
good athlete, and uh, I agree with you. They can win.
They can they can incredibly, they can win this division.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
You are right, And who'd have thought we'd say that
going into this year, especially because there's still the head
coaching is fairly new head coach and all that. But
we'll have to see. By the way, we have you
on early because we're doing a sort of semi pregame
show the Rangers playing against the Whalers, and I'm excited
for that because I think the Rangers can beat the
Oilers tonight based on what I saw Saturday, based on

(17:26):
the really hot start they've had the first couple of games. Hey,
if you can beat the contending Western Conference champion again,
that'd be cool. That'd be nice to beat them tonight.
We'll have to see what happens though, But yeah, well,
when Connor McDavid hits the ice in New York, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
And he's going to be here tonight, tomorrow night, and
I think Friday or Saturday. So the three team New
York New Jersey trip at these Western Conference teams make
for a first all Alex. Let's uh, let's uh see
if the Rangers score a.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Goal at home tonight.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
They've played two games at home and they've been shot
out twice. But I think I think that I think
I think that'd be okay. Uh, this is an interesting
game tonight, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
And that opening night was weird, Louis, Like it was
just like, you know, Sullivan comes to the Rangers, plays
his first game against the Penguins, that loses, and it
was sort of anti climactic, uh the scoring anyway, But hey,
there's still uh quite a few games to go, and
I'm excited for tonight. And then and then you look
across the river and I know, I guess the Devil's

(18:43):
lost their season opener as well. But are you worried?
Is this is this team got its core healthy or
what's going on with the Devils? And of course they
won their last they won their last two games, h
Matt Schaffers.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
And they haven't played a home game yet, so uh know,
they have their home opener against the against.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
The I guess tomorrow night, and the w be okay.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
I mean, the thing is this is their year the
pressure is on them, the pressures on management, pressure is
on a coach, Sheldon Keith. They got to make the
big jump this year. And U you know, Dawson Mercery
scored a couple of goals last night. The young you know, uh,

(19:30):
Tico Myers scored a goal. Tim Omyers scored a goal
last night for them on the road against a playoff
contending team in in a columbus Dale. You know, they'll
be batting for one of the fifth, sixth seven spots
in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
I think the Devil's I think the Devils are gonna
get better as the season gets goes on. So I'm
not I'm not worried about the Devils right now, but
I still think there's gonna be a major in season
trade with the Devils.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
I do.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
We'll have to see what that all, right, LOUI, I
gotta ask you about Matt Schaffer scoring his first goal
and what your initial thoughts are of the number one
draft pick.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
On Saturday night, a kid who's eight, who is eighteen
years old, thirty eighteen years thirty six days old, played
one of the most remarkable home openers.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
That I've that I've seen.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
His skating ability we know is fantastic. He had fourteen
shot attempts in games Saturay night, eight shots on goal.
He scored a goal where he was at the left
at the left point near the blue line, teared into
teared in in seconds and was able from a gold
mount scramble knocking into the Washington net. The Islanders have

(20:51):
not played well, but Matthew Schaeffer has and he's the
long range future for them. But he has a chance
to be a remarkable player. I know, it's only three games.
Saturday night he was the best player on the ice
for the Islanders and the Capitols. He was the best
player on the ice. It was a remarkable He played

(21:14):
a remarkable game. So the thing is the Islands have
to protect them. They play him twenty six minutes and
four seconds on Monday night, and excuse me on Saturday
night and twenty six minutes and thirty four seconds Monday
afternoon against the reigning President Trophy champion Minnesota, excuse me

(21:36):
whin the peg Jets And you know Jet the Jets
beat the pretty easily five to two. You knew that
the Islands we were in in that game. But on
the bad side, Alex the Islander defensive zone breakdowns not good.

(21:56):
Roman office had a terrible three games. They just haven't
come out of the shoot like they should. They have
picked up the pace they're they're playing a faster tempo,
but overall they're all in three And as I told
you last week, those first twenty twenty two games many

(22:17):
times propels you into a playoff spot. Now, I don't
think the All's gonna make the playoffs, but still they're
not a definite not not gonna make it, but they're
you know, they're a bubble team, so so so we
have to see it. If they can rebound, then again,
they're gonna play the Oilers next, and that's not easy.

(22:41):
And Soroken hasn't been as good as he was last
year so far. He letting a terrible goal against winning
Peg and Patrick wa has has worked cut out from then,
far from where he wants to be. But Matthew Schaefer, Yeah,
for one time, the sports gods did smile on the

(23:04):
Islanders because they were supposed to pick tenth and they
won the lottery and they drafted him first. And the
kid so far has been tremendous.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Well that that's you know, You're my eyes, Louis. I'm
so busy in the production to you half the time.
You're my eyes following all this, so thank you for
keeping it out dated. But I know that Schaeffer made
the goal because it's been almost not national news, but
definitely city wide. He had scored that first goal, so
it's exciting with that. But oh and three, you gotta

(23:36):
bounce back from that. And it reminds me you mentioned Bubble.
It reminds me to wrap up the NFL conversation before
we go to baseball. I said it on Thursday night.
I'll say it again here. Two and four does give
the Giants a chance compared to one in five, doesn't it.
I'm not delusional when I say that.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Right, you are not delusional. You were not delusional. Like
I said, they have. They have a winnable game in
Denver on Sunday. Denver is going to be coming back
from London. You know, sometimes teams rather can ask for
a buye. They haven't, and uh they'll be playing at home.

(24:16):
Denver is a tough place to play their offense. They're
not a great offensive team, they're a very good defensive team.
But it's a winnable game, it's definitely a winnable game
for the Giants. So if they get to three and four,
and then the next week is going to be really
interesting because they go down to Philadelphia, and if Philadelphia
doesn't show a little bit more of that grit that

(24:39):
they had last year when they won the championship and
really over the last for a long period of time,
over the last six seven years, then yeah, then, like
I said, you're not delusional, You are not delusional. You
want to be on the bubble. You want to you
want to be off the bubble. You want to be
well a the bubble. But if the Giants could be

(25:02):
on the bubble this year, that would be when you know,
that would be a positive season for them.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
And you talk about another transitional year like we talked
about earlier. I mean that that'd be that be like
the Patriots, I should say, this would be ahead of
schedule for them if they were to make the playoffs
with this kind of core right now, So we'll have
to see a lot a lot of football to go,
a lot of red zone Sundays to go, and uh,
we'll have to see. Now, why did Bryce Terrain not

(25:30):
get hit last night? He should have just worn that baseball, Louis.
That would have tied the game.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Alex when I was watching, Uh, it's just instinct, that's
all it is. It's instinct. Obviously, if it was premeditated,
he would have gotten hit, but it was. It was
just instinct. It would have tied the game. Yet I
thought he was going to get a hit anyway, to
tell you the truth. But he did something that he

(25:56):
usually normally doesn't. He swung at a fastball that was
all four and it was up in his eyes. And uh,
that's more egregious than his instinct of not getting hit.
But yes, he should. He should have just stood still
and and tay and took that pitch on the leg.
But what could you do. He's a tremendous player and.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Hits him and throws it up above his head and
he swings and missus it. You know you can't.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
That's terrible.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
As they say, Well, i'll tell you, I think the
Brewers need to win tonight if they want a chance
to have something in La You cannot go down to
oh in Los Angeles. I just don't see that big
a feasible thing for the Brewers.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
If they lose tonight, the series is over. They're probably
gonna lose four games to one if they lose tonight.
They gotta win tonight to make it a competitive series.
You know, they really had a chance to win last night.
But I'm one other thing about last night's game. A
Blake Snell only pitch eleven for the Dodgers this year,

(27:01):
and they gave him a ton of money. But I
don't think the Dodgers care about that. Obviously, don't care
about money. They have all these pitchers who didn't play
pitching the regular season, but they got them ready for
the playoffs. The closest to Zaki Blake Snell. So Snell
pitched brilliantly last night, retired the last seventeen Brewers, gave

(27:25):
up one hit through eight innings, was at one hundred
and two pitches. You mean Alex You mean he couldn't
go back out for the ninth and finished the game off.
They brought to Zaki in he didn't have it, and
then they had to bring in Blake Tried, who's had
a terrible year, but but survived and the and the

(27:47):
Dodgers got out of the game with a two to
one victory. But you you mean Blake Snell couldn't You
couldn't push him at this stage, at this time of
the year.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
He was you can get it. But about flashbacks of
like five years ago against the Dodgers when Kevin Cash
pulled them too early. I'll never forget that movie either.
That really cost to raise that world.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Right that that's a very that's another a very good
uh recall. Uh yeah, on that one, he didn't want
to come out and uh Analympics, you know, told Kevin
Cash you got to you gotta take him out and
they blew the game.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
So serious but anyway, Uh, and then you know last night, Uh,
I I wanted I I did say. I thought Jake
Bowers was getting that double as revenge for what the
Dodgers was former team, you know, because he's a former Yankee.
So that's why he hit that double with such tenacity. Also,
he's a ax.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
You're thinking way too deep. He wasn't thinking about that
last night. I can tell you that when he hit
that ball. When he hit that I thought it was out.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
By the way. I thought, you're a history guy, you know,
Blake's now made history like Don Larson did in nineteen
fifty six. That was the note of the night. I
saw on TBS. I don't know if you saw that stat,
but they said last two starts to face minimum through
eight and he is a postseason game, meaning minimum batters
Blake Snell and Don Larson. So there you go a

(29:21):
little history for you.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Yeah, he was. He was a good company last night,
that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
I also want a reference how how I'm sure impactful
it is that Brian Anderson gets to call this game.
As you know, he's the Milwaukee Brewer play by play
guy through the season, and of course he's mourning you
like anybody else. So can you imagine that feeling of
calling Brewer playoff baseball on a national stage with you
grew in mind? It's gotta be emotional for him.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Well, the thing is, uh, you remember the last game
that you ever called before he passed away a.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Larger three run home runs?

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yes, it was. But the Brewers all year have kept
Uker front and center. I mean after they won the
division in the locker room celebration, Uh, they talked about Uker.
They honored Uker, that they dedicated the season to Yuker,

(30:24):
and they wanted when they won the division. So obviously
if they win the payment Uker will uh, well, we'll
get some shout outs and remembrances, and of course if
they win the World Series again. But I'll tell you
one thing, the Dodgers were just goofing all four year, Alex,
like we thought it's gonna be hard to beat them, Alex.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
And you know that because like Game five last year,
I keep runing in that because I'll never forget how
Game four Roberts let everything go hang out loose if
you well, they didn't really into the bullpen changes the
Yanks won. Then Game five when he needed to be
locked down that offense, and yeah, the five running he sucked.
But also they didn't score after that few runout bursts

(31:10):
they had. But besides what last night, he locked down.
He's also Hoki was in trouble. We're not messing around.
He goes to try and go through his struggles, trying
gets the job done. I mean, he's a lockdown kind
of manager. Despite what people what to say about him,
I've seen that over the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Well, the one thing about him in the dugout, he's
very poised. He doesn't get rattled. He knows he has
a lot of weapons in his arsenal and he uses
them effectively. You know. Uh, I went up putting tried
in the previous series, you know, against Philly when he
got you know, I think he rolled the dice there

(31:47):
and he got a little uh, you know, cocky and
tried to get away with it, and uh. But the
Dodgers hold on the one to win that game in Philly.
But Alex he knows what he's doing and he's a
good manager, and he has so and he has just
so much talent on that team. And the great O'tani

(32:09):
has done nothing this postseason. He's done nothing, So if
he gets going the rest of the way, it's just
going to be another another piece of the Dodgers that
makes them so hard to beat.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
And I know, I know when I'm supposed to like
opposing teams at BS, like I'm not supposed to like
Drake May as a quarterback, but I love what he's
doing with New England, revitalizing.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
That that team.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
I also like Freddie Frueman. Okay, I've respected him ever
since he won that World Series and before that with
the Braves. I mean, this guy, no matter how old
he's getting, can keep hitting in the big spots. It's amazing.
To watch.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
Well again, she did it last night, you know, a
tight scoreless game.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
He hits the home run in the sixth inning. But Alex,
you know what, Yeah, I'll never root for the Los
Angeles Dodgers or any of these teams. Like you and me,
we root for the teams that that we've rooted for
all our lives. But you can, you can admire other
players on other teams, like you just said, Freddie Freeman,

(33:15):
a young player like a Drake May. Guy's like that,
for sure, you know, without a doubt, there's so many
guys on Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
You know that.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
You would you know, you'd say, wow, this guy would
be good. I would love to have him on my team.
And uh, you know so that that's the by the way,
when baseball's played right, Alex, like we've seen these and
these playoffs have been good playoffs. There is no better game.
And we're sports of football, basketball, baseball, and hockey, and

(33:49):
we love them all. But when the game is played right,
when baseball's played right, even at fifteen inning game where
there was no give me, give.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Me Raleigh versus school ball every series, and I'll be
excited for that. Okay, that moment where he struck out
Rally cal Rawley, not just on a strikeout, he threw
it one hundred one miles an hour on pitch ninety
seven in the sixth inning to get Raleigh. That's Vinton's
postseason right there.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Well that way, that way I was. But again, I'm
going to say something else. I pitch ninety seven he
after six innings, and I like, shrue I do. He
pitched ninety nine pitches through six innings in a do
or die gang for the Detroit Tigers on the road.
He asked, ou are you kidding me? You couldn't go

(34:38):
another inning? You couldn't take it to one hundred and
twenty pitches or one hundred and twenty five pitches, I mean, game.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
God, throw your arm out, kid like every you know.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
But well, again, it's just ridiculous. Al Lighter, in the
Game five of the Subway Series, I at least threw
one hundred and forty two pitches into the ninth inning,
you know, So I know it's a different time.

Speaker 1 (35:06):
Well, Al Laider through that complete game against Cincinnati, that
complete game shutout in nineties, right, and that's that moment
there too.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
So that was there.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
He had some good hitters he faced that that that
bog carge of that playoff game. But anyway, I get
your point. And then I really felt bad because Tommy
Canley I met last year at Woodbridge Burwy when he
was with the Yankees. Decent dude, really cool, got him
something of the situation against Seattle and couldn't get himself
out of it. Uh you know. And and so Seattle,

(35:39):
not phased by fifteen innings, goes into Toronto and for
two nights in a row, bombasted them. I was impressed
that they can recover so quickly and do what they
did in Toronto in two games like that.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
So as I am, I really thought that the short
cut round was rellly in the series. Yeah, I hear,
I agree, but I think they have a better in
my opinion, they're better than Toronto. They have a better roster,
they have better pitching. And remember Brian Wu has been

(36:13):
injured the whole playoffs, so they haven't even used them yet.
And I don't know what is availability is if if
they continue on, but I like Seattle. I would love
to see if Seattle wins this series, if they knock
off the Dodgers, if they win their series, I would
love to see somebody beat the Dodgers. I'm not rooting

(36:33):
against them, but it would be I think it would
be good for baseball if somebody beat them.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
You know, it would be good for baseball. If it
was up for grabs for the first time between the
Mariners and the Brewers, that would be something else, in
something quote unquote off the script. If you will, and Hill,
it would be.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
It would be off the script. You're right, and Ali.
The Milwaukee Brewers started in Seattle as a Seattle pilots
in nineteen sixty nine, and then, believe it or not,
like two weeks into spring training of nineteen seventy they
moved to Milwaukee and they got that. They got that
going like in three weeks. That would be that would

(37:17):
be something. If it's just thees.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Well, I was always looking at Game three, four five,
Game five prices because look, I text a friend of mine,
I would love to be there in case there's history
of someone clinching. Then I looked at it, thirteen hundred dollars.
I'll just stay in my couch in New York and
enjoy it that way. Louisa Gays, let's FINACU want to
sponsor my trip out there?

Speaker 2 (37:41):
I love Alex, but I'm going to say my couch too.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
I want sponsored by trip out to Seattle or Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Let me know.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
No, then these prices are crazy. I mean they really are.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Well yeah, but it'll it'll be fun to watch it unfold. Uh.
I just don't see Milwaukee going down too in a
home crowd like that. I cannot see that. Because they
played them competitively last night. It just there were a
couple of mistakes, I guess and whatnot. But I think

(38:21):
they can do it tonight. I got a feeling they're
gonna win tonight. I just I have a hunch.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
Well, I would like to see them win tonight. I
would just make the series just more interesting.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
I think if it gets the game seven, that'll a.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Little pressure on the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
Oh and because well and Philly, you know, and I
have some thoughts on the Philly off season because I
followed them a little bit. I don't see how Rob
Thompson comes back. I know they faced the Dodgers, but
they need to regroup that whole team in Philadelphia. And
I know you're a met fancer, you don't want them
to be regrouped. But I think they're in disarray as
a Philly organization right now.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Well, I hope they stayed in the Surrey. But Rob
Thompson's coming back. He's coming back.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
I think they've already announced it, but he's coming back.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
I'll have to check that out. But you know, and
it looks like Boonie's saying too, because I've heard otherwise.
So hey, those first run exits sometimes in management's eyes,
don't really matter in the big picture. I guess I
don't know exactly, but I thought for sure Philly might
want to make a change, even though Thompson got him
there two three years ago already, which is hard to believe.

(39:31):
It's been three years since they got to the World Series.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Yeah, Well, the thing is they then they had that
three to two lead against the Diamondbacks who played Texas
in the World Series, And they had a three to
two lead against the Diamondbacks that they had games six
and seven at home, and they blew Game six in
Game seven and they lost. They lost that Pennant. That
that one stung for the Phillies and their management.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
All right, I want to go back to hockey. As
we're wrapping up this episode before I published asap. Is
the league doing enough to promote the hundredth anniversary of
the original six. I feel like the only the teams
are doing a great job at telling you it's the
hundred anniversary, like the Rangers. All the six teams are
doing a bit about job in the league itself. Would

(40:18):
would you concur Well.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Not all, Remember, not every team. This is not the
one hundredth anniversary for every team. It's one hundredth anniversary
for the Rangers and I don't know who else.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
And Chicago also are at one hundred. Yeah, but.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
You know, first of all, the original six that is
totally totally not It's really a dumb designation because there
was so many teams before the Originals, before the quote
unquote the six that were left, they've made the original six,
and the name should be different. It should be the

(40:58):
Iconic six or the historic six, because up until nineteen
forty two there was more than sixteams. And then there
was two teams in New York, the New York Americans,
and they changed their name to one year to the
Brooklyn Americans, even though they played in Madison Square guarding.

(41:19):
But when World War Two started they went out of business.
So from forty two to nineteen sixty seven when the
Great Expansion happened and they expanded from six to twelve.
That's that era of twenty five years, twenty six seasons.
That was the original six. But that makes no sense

(41:40):
because there were teams before that. There was teams in Pittsburgh,
in Philadelphia, in Saint Louis and Ottawa that all. Like
I said, there was two teams in New York. There
was two teams in Montreal. There was the Montreal Maroons
and the Montreal Canadians. The Montreal Maroons were around before
the Rangers and the Blackhawks. Six is really not not

(42:02):
the right designation for those six teams, but uh yeah,
I mean it's I think the league is, you know,
letting the teams do what they what they want to
do for the uh the anniversary, and I think the
Rangers are going to do a lot and Sam Rosan
is going to be a master's ceremony, so the fans
have to love that. Uh So, yeah, I think the

(42:26):
Rangers are gonna you know, I think as New Yorkers,
we're going to uh uh you know, we're gonna see
a lot of the old Rangers that we've grown u
up with through the years, and uh, unfortunately they've only
won one company in seventy three years.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
So.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
You know that's it. But I think the league is
doing enough, I do.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
I think they're leaving it to the teams.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
That's just my opinion.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
Probably so well, we'll have to see. I know my
dad loved U the Blackhawks, and I see that they
won along with the Bears, so that was kind of
cool to see both them win and the Bears needing
that win last night for sure.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
Yeah, they got a little lucky when Jade and Daniels
messed up that handoff, but they took advantage of it,
and that's what you gotta do. Good for the Bears
and Ben Jonson.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
All right, lou Terminello Terminelo's take right before face off
at the Garden, Thanks for your thoughts on all things sports.
What do we leave off the table this week? What
did you want to cover?

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Well, the only thing I'll leave you with this. Daniel
Jones is five and one, Aaron Rodgers is four and one,
and the sam Donold is four and.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
Two as.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
The New York teams. And we don't know about Jackson
Dart yet, but it looks like he might be might
be good We'll just discarded New York quarterbacks who are
thriving elsewhere, So just leave you. I'll leave you with that.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
Well, Sam Darnold not only beat the Jacksonville, they trounced
the Jaguars on Sunday. That was pretty impressive. We'll have
to see where they go from there. And Daniel Jones,
of course, proving all the Giants need to give him
was an offensive line. That's the same issue every damn quarterback.
But what do we know, Louis.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
We watched the games and get either frustrated or once
in a while we get joy, but as nothing but frustration.

Speaker 1 (44:32):
While we're at it. I am happy that Dabel gave
Mahra the game ball. I mean, we all know he's
going through cancer. Treatments are just horrible, but I love
that Dable gave him the game ball. And maybe fans
will ease up on the guy. I mean the guy
the Mirrors are a legendary family in New York, so

(44:52):
maybe we ease up on him a little bit.

Speaker 2 (44:55):
Alex the greatest investment of all time in nineteen twenty five.
I think it was either two hundred and fifty or
five hundred dollars to get into the National Football League,
and now the Giants are worth eight nine ten billion dollars.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
That's a pretty good return.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Minority stake for ten billion dollars.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
Actually, well yeah, and if they went up, if these
NFL teams went up forbid, they would they would be
over ten billion.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
Well, Louis, love you man. Thanks for another great terminal's
take and for taking this into the historical realm for
some of these things.

Speaker 2 (45:32):
Tonight my pleasure, Alex, Thank you, lay the game and
uh talk you next week.
