Speaker 1 (00:02):
All right, everyone, we are live. Thank you all the
what have joined us for part one, A lot of views,
a lot of likes, thank you so much. That means
that means a lot to us. But it's time to
close out Spring for the Top Anime for twenty five.
As always, we're gonna do our honorable mentions. First, we're
(00:23):
gonna say are three and also Crystal say is free,
then Star, then Evan and myself, and then we'll do
our top ten one by one. Excuse me as normal gentlemen.
Are you guys ready for to close this out?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
But this.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
All right?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
So Chris give us your honorable mentions.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Okay, my honorable We're starting off with h Boy Girl,
Canna Boy Girl Friendship Survine.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
I put it as my number thirteen because, as I
mentioned before, it shall was what not to do, uh
what what to avoid when seeking a for potential partner
unless you're into that, like someone being Matt It honestly
would have been better if he went with said MORI,
fuck you, you're fucking crazy and went with Anamoto. But
(01:19):
people can't have nice things that. That's my number thirteen.
My number twelve, which I I ah, my number twelve
is Gundam ge cous I. I did not like a
lot of the show. Yes, a lot of the show
(01:40):
was pretty The music was good. It was good good throwbacks,
but like that's what it basically lived off of. None
of the main characters, aside from like characters who were
from the original Gundam were interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
A Machu and yan uh were too crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Oh like to focused on Shugi's affections that like they
really couldn't uh they they weren't interesting. Uh. Huji was
just a bland character who later turned out to be Amro,
which was a stupid twist.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
And not to not actually have the real Amorro in
this show where you're basing the entire story on bass Gundom.
It really couldn't sell me like to like give it
a good score. The fights were interesting, but like, there
(02:41):
weren't that many fights to like keep my interest.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
I finished it just because uh fucking uh can ken
Chiezu made the opening and it's a pretty good song.
That's my number twelve, uh number eleven. I put ahaan
it's a good waight Uh. It's a good going out
for the show. They did the ending pretty well. It
(03:10):
the only reason why it's not higher is because I
had a lot of shows that I liked a lot more.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
I don't have. I don't have any.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Oh yeah, yeah, he doesn't have a thirteen.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
I don't have that.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
That's right, all right. So even.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Like Horse Recoils my number thirteen by default I had
nothing else to put in that slot.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Thirteen like Horse reco shorts.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Because I had nothing else to put in that slot.
Otherwise I had twelve full shows at account. Twelve is
killing Slimes by default, because I would have much rather
put Demon's Sword, and I would have much rather put
fucking what's the one that carried over, not Pockets. Pockets
would have been on here too by default, but which
watched easily. Yes, on his Bitch too. So yeah, killing
(03:57):
signs by default as number twelve, I just grew out
of the show. I don't really care for it anymore.
You know, it's a nice show. If you want to
watch an animate with your kids, it's not going to
offend them in any way, shape or form. Like it's it's
a wonderful I wouldn't say family per se, but it's
something you can definitely watch your kids and not have
to worry about anything. But for me, I've grown out
(04:17):
of the show. If they come back with the season three,
I'm a completionist, I will watch it and I will
loathe it because that's just how I torture myself. Number
eleven for me is cann of boy girlfriendship survives. Much
to Chris's points, it's everything you don't want in a
relationship and a friendship. It's toxic as fuck. However, at
(04:38):
the end of the day, the animation was really nice,
the musical composition was okay. The it fit the bill
for what it was, and the fact that the main
characters get together at the end gives it some sort
of credence for what little that's worth.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
All right. Uh. Number thirteen for me is also like
course recoil. Yeah there are but you know what, short sweet,
they were good. There was nothing wrong with them. I
wish I had a couple more minutes at least, like,
you know, maybe making like seven minutes each three you know,
take what you can get. I still have on with them.
It maybe it, maybe it may be really how much
(05:14):
I actually missed the crew and I cannot wait for
season two. Number twelve is that the hobby that's journey?
Is it?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Born, yes, but you don't want though, For I had
been to Japan, I do plan to go back. I
like learnings from this stuff. Like if you're like, if
you are going to Japan, I would say check it
out at least so does the idea of where you
might want to go. There might there could be fun
stuff to see, whether it's whether it's eating hot spring,
(05:46):
the hotels trines like they like, they cover most of
what people go for in terms of tourists. So I
liked it. For those, it just wasn't great same time,
But I would still recommend it if you are planning
to go to Japan. Number eleven to you and g
family children a decent show is there gonna be two hopefully,
(06:13):
but I just like a lot better. But it's just
it's just so wild that the youngest daughter is the
one that's still wild compared to all of them, saying
I'm glad we're not related that way I can get
my hands on us. Got more balls. You got the
balls that all of them like, God damn.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
The three Majors threw down the goblins.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I could have given it to Lazarus, but no, it
almost did. But after those last couple of episodes like
you know what, I'd rather work like Corrus this and
that was pretty much what happens.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
All right.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Now we are going to do our top ten, so
let us get right to it. Let's go, Chris.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
This was a christ we can come for seven.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
But after the great great point that Starman put out,
Ladies Rock got dropped the number ten because man, it
would have been nice to listen to the music more.
But I still enjoyed the fucking them like fighting, cussing
each other out in monologue, was like, bitch, you're supposed
to be like focusing on this thing. How are you
(07:37):
having a conversation? I The only time I gave it
a pass is when they first performed together on stage and.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Lilisa and Otaha.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Were like facing each other off, and then shira Hiro
fucking interrupted them. I love that whole fucking moment. That's
the only moment I gave it a past. You every
other moment in fucking Needsy Effects.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Okay, star Man, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
I have a question answer. It's sort of the Demon
Hunter still ongoing.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
It's still ongoing. It just took a two week break.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Oh okay. I thought they were gonna skip a whole
season then come back.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
I would have put that at seven if I could
have put it.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Okay, I wouldn't. If that's the case, I don't have
a I don't have a ten.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Nine.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Did you watch him?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
No, I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
It's still I didn't.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I want to make sure you weren't gonna.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Have surely all my literally like like two of my
favorite shows that would have topped off my whole thing.
I couldn't even add because they don't end this season.
I'm like, yeah, that kind of got me because I
watched like it hurts yeah and four of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I came more short.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Yeah all right, So all right, Ethan, I guess.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
It's your turn. Yeah. Number ten for me is please
put them on Takamine Son at the end of the day.
Outside of the etchy right, which I loved, there is
an actual decent rom com story to this, and that
is basically you have Shirata basically is starting to slowly
(09:31):
step out of his like no one knows him character
shell because of the fact that he's around the magnanimous Takamine.
Takamine falls for him, and you learn early on that
basically Takamina has known him since they were little, and
it's up to takeimine or sorry, it's up to Shirota
to figure out that, Yeah, we've known each other for
this long, and I've liked you for this long. And
(09:52):
beyond that, Takamine sees all the redeeming qualities in Shiraza.
Normally someone on herst statue want to go with the
popular hot boy, but she enjoys how vastly different they are,
but how sincere and sweet he is, and so you
see their romance continue to very slowly develop. Him By
the end, you know they both like each other, they're
just both too stupid to tell each other. And there's
(10:15):
a redeeming quality also with the etchy aspect and the
fact that she Rota is very bashful. He's not a pervert.
Where he does his best, and even though he has
to put these underwears on a girl and has seen
this girl naked so many times, has seen everything she
has to offer, and he still gets bashful. He doesn't
get horny. He doesn't sit there like, oh my god,
I can't wait to see her pussy today, or oh
(10:37):
my god, I can't wait to see her suppletitties. He's
not like that whatsoever. And I think that endears him
to Takamine as well. My only knock is the fact
that crunchy roll had to have this anime. This should
have won billion percent been on High Dive. High Dive
does actually way better than crunchy Roll could ever fathom
to do. I hate when a ecchi is on country Roll.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
That is were as someone who is reading the manga,
You're not missing much.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
It's pretty much the same.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I'm with it. It's fine with me. It's a guilty pleasure.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Also, also, I know you had to put this out
of the bottom of the bron but like, it's so
wild that this whole, their whole fucking relationship starts off
with her blackmailing him as like, oh man, you fucking
blessed be how dare you you have to do this
or you're gonna go.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
To jail forever?
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah? That is toxic as fuck.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, and she can do that at any point.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Okay, Number ten, I'm an evil lord over lord of
the Intergodic Empire. I have fun. I didn't get much
in terms of world building. It was just basically one
fucking area more or less. So there's a plot ut
very basic, but I did enjoy the characters that I
(12:03):
enjoyed why Liam had hatred from you know, his wife
cheating on him. Another life with is a boss and
the boss got him fired even though it's backpower backfire
in this new world because you know, he wants to
be evil, but the o the plant is driving because
of him, even though his family was a bunch of
(12:23):
fucking moochers trying to get his money, and that then
it worked, Thank fuck that that did not happen. Entertainment,
I got a couple of laughs. I don't know if
this is gonna be a season two. I kind of
wish there was because I didn't want a little more.
And do you have fucking that Doo as the villain
who does also time and all that? So what this
more Deo is? Give me more Deo?
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Make him?
Speaker 1 (12:45):
I want to see him suffer from not getting negative energy.
That was probably one of the funnier bits. But no
number ten, they're likely Empires number nine.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Chris, Uh, my number is my Boshie Witches. As I
mentioned before, it's a cute music uh musical show idol.
Of course, uh I liked it a lot, mostly because
of how real, but my Boshi Witches the same problem yeah, uh, yeah,
(13:22):
a lot.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
Of the characters were real. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
Sure there were characters who most some of them are
like free spirited, doing it for the uh, doing it
for fun, uh, not really having like.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Main aspirations for being witches.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
But one of them was like doing it to be
skinny because she's uh chubby, and she gets mocked for
it relentlessly, and she likes dressing up cute and this
is the only place where she can be it, and
she guess likes gaslights the rest of them until like
uh in the beginning, and even like uh goes off
(14:03):
on a batwoman who enters the store and tries to
get her to go on the same level she is
uh and which is which helps her grow And there's
like more to it, but like, it was a really
good show and I wasn't expecting most of it.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Okay, okay, sorry, do you have something for nine?
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I do? I do? I do? I finally finally have something.
All right, this is what I have for my number nine. Wow,
I can't believe I don't have ten. This sucks. Last risk, No,
like bro, I got a count like Lazarus. Lazarus. Uh,
Lazarus is dead last on my list. Like it would
(14:46):
have been ten because I didn't watch enough for everything
in the count. But basically what I have Lazarus of this,
It's like what I got from Lazaro was philosophy one
on one, post COVID fan fiction with a side of misplay,
ego and miss potential. This had everything going for it
on paper. It had the soundtrack with trying to be,
(15:06):
It had the premise it had it was supposed to
be the spiritual success of the Cowboy Bebop. But somewhere
along the way it was cardboard dialogue overcook pacing. You
didn't know who the characters were, You didn't care who
the characters were. By the end of it, there were
no real stakes. And I dare said even Ninja Camel
(15:27):
was better than this. So yeah, man, it had way
too many flowers. Soundtrack was cool, but it was just
way too many flowers. Bro, Like, yeah, I'm good, Yeah,
just to go down. It's like the biggest anime disappointment
five years.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah. I think after I was like, I think we
need to have a conversation about Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Bro, man, I'm sorry, it's not him. What happened was
adult Swim pressured him into giving them another Cowboy Bebop,
and that's what they went wrong. I promise you if
they would have just made something different, because how many
times are you gonna copy Spike Spiegel. We got moving,
(16:12):
and we got right, then we got moging. I mean,
I mean, it's like, I just I don't get it.
Like they tried too hard to make him cool. They
tried way too hard. And the best episode I think
was episode nine. You got to the end of that
assass and killed everybody wire. My whole thing is in
a world where we where people can even utter the
(16:32):
nonsense that Solo Leveling was the best anime of last
year only because it was just high action junkie bullshit.
I feel like you didn't read the room. Y'all spent
too many years developing this anime. Y'all should have just
made it an action packed, non stop adventure instead of
trying to recapture the magic of Cowboy Bebop. When I'm
(16:54):
gonna be real with you, Cawboy Bebock ain't even one
time to be his best anime. Only reason Cowboy Bebop
is the legislay tion ary status it has because it
was better than every other anime that existed during that time.
If you measured up to any anime, the most anime
that came out in the past twenty years, Cowboy Bebop
will not ranking the top ten. I said it. It's
(17:16):
not top in all time. Cowboy Bebop is not top
ten all time. It's not it's top twenty all time,
not top ten. I can name ten better than that.
I can name I can name two better than the
same creator I can I can promise, well not to
I just say Sam is better. But anyway, that's my tangent.
Let me not go on the whole die try about it. No, no, no,
(17:37):
Cowboy Bebop deserves respect, but stop trying to copy it.
It's just good for the time. It's definitely okay. It
probably is a top ten anime.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
I'm tricking.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
I get you get what I'm saying. What you're saying,
it's different.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Than everything else. But it's like, don't try to copy it.
That's what lasts went wrong. They just tried to copy
Cawboy Bebop.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
And it's like Sol was like a carbon coffee. Yeah,
the cool parkour.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yeah, just like don't do that, Like, just don't do it.
Just don't do the terror and Tuesday was better than this.
Definite agree with you know what I'm saying, But what's
time to be?
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Come on, dog, don't don't don't go to those swim
That's where I had to make Yeah, I'm I'm not sorry. No,
I don't make anything for them.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Yeah, bro sta with from.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Just just just you can rit but don't don't.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Make it, don't don't take their money.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
What's your rating? What's your rating? John? What's your reading
on Lazarus?
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Uh, Lazarus is a Lazarus is a waiting for it?
What am I gonna give Lazarus? I initially gave it
a six. That's saying my spell. I kind of want
to drop that to a five.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
So that's like a two and a half.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah, Laztarus gets a five out of ten for me?
Who got to make a statement? Last was just five
out of team for me.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
And it's top eight, top nine. Oh my god. I
appreciated that, tangent. I'm so glad I didn't watch it
Number nine for me Zatsu Tabi much to many of
the points that Matt made. Specifically, I wanted to highlight
just a little bit more on if you're going to
(19:28):
Japan when you go to Japan. Everybody knows the typical
Golden route, right, the Golden Route is Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka
or vice whatever, in whatever order, it's the that's the
Golden Route. This show does a tremendous job of showing
you that Japan offers so much more in Japan's best
things outside of Tokyo and outside of the Golden try
(19:50):
because golden the Golden Route is really good. But the
best things you can find in Japan are when you
go deep into the countryside and you want to to
see historical like landmarks. You see how beautiful the countryside is.
You see how peaceful and quiet it is. You see
the tory gates, you see the onsends, you see the
(20:10):
mom and pop shops. Japan thrives, absolutely thrives on mom
and pop shops that have been in business for generations
upon generations, and not all, I will be honest, Japan
has a little bit of racism. They have a lot
of adversity the deeper you go into the countryside to
foreigners and people that don't speak Japanese, so it is
imperative you do try to learn some sort of Japanese
(20:31):
if you want to really survive and get the most
out of your trip. But in any case, to see
and get the sights and the sounds and the experience.
That's what Tabi covers everything, like Matt said, from hoo
Kaido in the northern part, all the way down to
Okinawa in the southern part, and everything in between. So
it's definitely a fun show. It's boring, but boring can
(20:54):
be fun in its own way if you can appreciate
those type of moments. That's what Tabi, as I mentioned
previously in the previous episode, is literally just an adventure
with girls seeking inspiration, having fun together, growing together. They're
all adult girls too. That's another great thing about the show.
They were all college age or adult age women and
(21:16):
they're just living life. And this is what typical. This
happens so much in Japan with so many different people,
but they just go on trip because Japan is so vast.
It's no different than if you wanted to travel America.
Here in America, you can go to any of the
states and you'll find something to do and meet new
people and experience new things, just like you would any
other continents. You can say. So I appreciated it for
(21:40):
what it was it's not a world beater, buying a
stretch of the imagination, but it was cool. It's nice
and chill what a slice of life should be.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Number nine rock is a ladies modesty that this was
what I dropped. I felt like there is not enough
like conflict with the band. It was just yeah, we
had the battle of the bands with that one, and
then the boy bet that no one gave a shit
about You really could use that for something like you look,
could for literally anything else. I kind of honest see
(22:11):
more of the mom. I want to know what happened
really says it with the dad like it's just a
lot of stuff that was left unanswered that we're more
than likely not gonna get.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Answered because I don't think this is gonna get a
season two. Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
So you're just like blue ball Ball in the audience
for that one and you wasted it with other of
another band. Again, I could I could have done anything
without it, but here we are. I like the facial question,
especially when they were playing the music. The inner monologue
didn't get annoying at times. I get I get it
(22:42):
here and there, but I think there was just too
much of that, Like we get it, you're trying to
win up each other. Just fucking, just fucking the locker
room stuff. I don't care. Just move on like I'm
oping that's just fu the locker room like do something,
do something.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
I want count y'all's point when I get to rock
kind of what I said, I want to counter y'all's
point when I get to rock, just sing?
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Okay, but and who like Compared to the girls band shows,
Bochie and Girls Bank Cry a part than this, The
Rock was nice, but so the episode just felt like
a little bit of a waste. But it was more
of the characters. But I want a little bit more
about them at the same time. Mm hmm, so yeah,
Number nine, please modestly.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
Mhm all right now, Number eight, Chris, My number eight
is Ninja Assassin under one group.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
As I mentioned before, I really enjoyed the humor of this.
I enjoyed the characters, the slapstick like uh, the humor
was just on point for me. I enjoyed this show
a lot. I can't believe.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Okay, start a number eight, all right?
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Number eight for me is rock is a lady's modesty.
Basically for me, man, this show had no plot, no
stakes like no dream. There was no drama. It ignored
every trope that would have made this a great, fantastic
musical anime. What I mean by that is, you know
(24:21):
how Blue Giant, somebody had the dream that wanted to
be the best in the world. Nobody give a fuck
about planning to being the best in the world. They
didn't do that. They went to this school where they
could have exploited the trope of them living a double life.
They could have really got into that, or the states,
or one of the girls gets caught the mom is
like you, I need you to quit playing this rock,
(24:42):
or I'm gonna make you drop out of school. They
could have had some kind of stakes. There were no stakes. Romance. No,
they could have flat out I'm in love with you
or someone you got a truth between rock in a
relationship or you trying to get this girl to see
you so you're playing the rock so she you're espressing
your feelings through music. Ain't none of that. There were
no tropes. And just like you said with the band,
(25:03):
we didn't care about the boy band. They literally just
gave them somebody that like the chump off. They didn't
do any thing that made Bochie Good, which was you
get this complex character who it's almost like a split personality.
She comes alive and it comes a different person when
she plays. Everybody was pretty much what you see is
what you get. They did the double life thing in
school as a premise, but they didn't dive into it,
(25:27):
and they didn't do anything like like Chaoon where they
kind of defather odds and they take this thing far.
It wasn't to the last episode. They even mentioned that
like playing at japan Fest or whatever rock concert they
wanted to play at. It was like, Bro, like what
(25:47):
are y'all doing? Other than that? You know me, it's
hit and miss when it comes to CGI. I did
think it was kind of cool that it probably was
mo cap and I love the facial expressions, and the
music was dope when they weren't talking through the music
the entire episode. But anyway, maybe they should have fleshed
(26:07):
this out to twenty four episodes. I feel like if
it was longer and they actually had a plot, I
think this show would have could have stood to test
the time. But after I seen your buck out, cal
mean something like that, Bro, I seen what they did
in twenty In twelve episodes. I've seen what can be
done with twelve thirteen episodes, so it's a six side
of ten for me.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
M number eight, right, yep, yep, okay. Let me prefest this.
By the way I gave so like Horus and Slimes
were flat threes, Boy Girl was three point two five,
My ten through six or three point fives and then
five is where I take Jones. But my number eight,
(26:51):
after hearing you guys lambaster the fuck out of it,
I feel like I moved it down a little bit slightly,
just so like encounters a couple of points. What you
guys are all making fair points that it's hard to
ignore and keep it where I had it, which I
like I said, I told you guys, over the course
of multiple weeks, I've told you guys, I don't have
as much faith in my six through thirteen whatsoever. But
(27:14):
I'll put Rocker's Lady Mayacey's number eight as well. And
my two counter points is in terms of the monologue,
y'all are not wrong. I understand that point completely. My
thought process with monologue, though, is every show to a
degree does monologue, especially in critical moments. The best is
when they don't. I concur but a lot of shows
(27:35):
will give you internal monologue during peak or critical times,
and so we're lambasting rock for that, But then why
don't we lambast other animes that do similar things.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
I'm tired of the exposition, and so.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
I get that. But to answer your question, Ethan is
because you're playing fucking dope music in the background, and
you have to turn that so many decipos low. So
if it's about music, it's like, we don't care about
the back guyund music, when trunks, when the chop freezer up,
it's dope and we hear it. But you're playing rock,
Like you're playing this music and you and you lower
(28:14):
it all the way down just so someone can talk
over it, and then you bring it back up. It's
like I can't get into it. It's like you want
me to feel the music and get into the music,
but then you mute the music so I can hear
somebody talking about something I don't even care about. When
it's like I can see if they kind of like
just if they would have had a plot, the whole plot,
(28:35):
like with the girl on the keyboard, if that would
have made more sense, if the whole episode really was
about you gotta get better or we're gonna kick you
out of the band. There was no real tension. They
totally suck she one episode she came back. Now she playing,
looking at her titties like I have to do this,
and now she's just banging it out and it's like, well, set,
(28:56):
if you was gonna show up and show out like that,
why the fuck you talking?
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Why did a come up episode?
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:01):
Like they did highlight it a little bit, but not enough.
They did it.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
So that's why I didn't care about the monologue because
it was just like, dude, just let them play. Let
them get on stage and then play.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Yeah, I agree with I agree with the majority of
the pot.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
That's the difference. Like why why compare this to k
On because I know you've never seen that, But in
k On the girls do a song and they do
a whole song. There is actual that's the difference. When
they're doing singing lyrics, you can hear the lyrics that
I'm singing. Even when pop Step had a musical number,
they let pop Step sing. She wasn't thinking the whole
time she was singing. So I'm saying, if you're gonna
(29:40):
sit up here, and play these instruments where you don't
have a singer. I felt like, dude, they don't have
a singer. You're just strattening away from the whole fact
that this is an instrumentation by by talking through it.
So I feel like, why would you do that? You
you shot yourself in the prefer for your foot.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Okay, that's a good counterpoint to my point. That's fair.
Second kind of point I had, which is a lesser counterpoint,
is just the fact that the plot should have been better.
I agree with all three of y'all points when it
comes to that there is a little bit of a plot,
and that little bit of a plot is them wanting
to get to fujifest and so this is the journey
of how you get there. To Matt's point, though, will
(30:17):
this get a season two not? It's looking likely that
it won't more than it would. And then to Matt's point,
then you've blue balled us on the real overarching plot,
which is the plot that everyone cared about, which is
the mother and the relationship that she that Lalisa has
with her parents.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
You could done You could have done more with that.
You could have done more with the school that her
trying and read out to be a noble.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Yeah, you could have done that, and that's where Seawn's
point comes in, where you could have literally fleshed it out.
The twenty four episodes answered some of those questions, given
us a little bit more and probably expanded your horizons
on getting a season two.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Yeah, what what was her mom's relationship on this evil
step mother saying why? She was like, baby, you've always
been a good girl. It's like, no, Like, what was
your relationship with her original dad? How does she get
in aitar? Why does she have the guitar? How Like?
None of that gets answered no one. It's like they
didn't even dare to ask it. They just dangled it
out there.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
Yeah, and it is feeling incomplete. And so that's why
all of you guys's points made total sense. Why I
should do this from where I had it. I had
at six because I was like, well, it's music, and
I enjoyed it more than the other ones. But then
the morening y'all have talked about it over the last
four and a half hours, the more I'm like, son
of a bitch, it's about three. But in any case,
(31:36):
it regardless, I agree with the majority of the things.
So number eight Rocky Ladd Molesty three point five out
of five, six out of ten.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
My number eight is a horrid song. Season two, I
definitely liked that it's like a lot. I liked a
lot of other stuff better. I did not care about
the childhood friend who she thought they were no longer
friends with, Like, as soon as you got introduced and
they reconnected, that was fine, but the fact she kept
(32:07):
coming back and she turned to a one note of Oh,
she's overthinking, maybe they hate her. And when he final
she doesn't, she does a little crying thing, and I
guess it's got it got annoying, like this, shut the
fuck up, just go back to being a lost friend.
A love lost friends. But I liked a hard writers relationship.
(32:28):
I liked that they got married. Their finale was just great.
I had them figuring out what they want, what they're
going to do with their lives, them getting married, they
actually have a house, you got grandkids, right, I was
just doing a whole bunch of ship. He's being writers,
being an action there's been a movie star. It's an
astronaut in space, Like he's like doing all this and
(32:51):
and that kind of fits how rhighto is if you
have wasted it, like like what me and Chris have.
I just I liked a lot of stuff better though,
but I will barely enjoyed it horror, and they're not
gonna get any more. It's a sweet note. So that's
number eight horn Son mm hmm, all right. Number seven, Chris.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
My number seven is on another show that I didn't
talk about much that no one else watches, Uh The
Two Perfect Saintans Satists. Uh okay, I Uh this show had.
It's a villainous not really type of story focusing on
(33:34):
this uh saintist who's good at everything she fucking does,
but her family.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
And her.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
And the people don't like her because she's uh couder.
She's eventually sold off by her uh Beyonce prince uh
to another kingdom and things start to show up for
She's treated much better there. I really like the show
(34:06):
because like the like going past the premise. Uh, everyone's
like for uh, I'm so bad explain you because I
didn't talk about the show, so I can't explain really
like much about it.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
I just like how the people work in the background
to like.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
The Saintist basically has the younger sister who super fucking
pist with everyone who's got involved. H and she works
behind the scenes to get revenge and fuck everyone who
betrayed her older sister. Uh uh, get revenge on them
and suck them over.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
It's just I really like the drama of it. It's
really good, and I really enjoyed how it ended.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
All right, Starving, all right?
Speaker 3 (35:04):
My number six seven oh seven, okay, yeah, seven seven seven.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
All right?
Speaker 3 (35:10):
My number seven was Kloon Senaric Romance. Their character design
Like I've been, I've been, I've been like, what's the word.
I have been canvassing to get a character design cake
for some time now, and if we had one, I
(35:33):
would give the character design cake the Kowloon. This was
like my favorite character designs. It's nineties nostalgia and what like.
I'm surprised, Ethan, maybe you caught this point. It took
place during the early two thousands. It looked like a
two thousands anime. The entire theme of this anime was nostalgia.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
It took officially took place in nineteen ninety seven.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Okay, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
The thing was nineteen ninety seven, and then they went
back three years to nineteen ninety four, and there is
a point I make when I.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Get to it it too. The theme of this entire
show was nostalgia, but I felt like that was the
best part. It should have been a two hour movie.
I felt like Colowns should have been a movie. I
don't think it should have been a series. I felt
like thirteen was overkilled because the last four episodes they
spent all that time explaining everything, only to still leave
(36:25):
me with questions. On the last episode, I feel like,
maybe I'm just too used to shock value. But could
I hide a B or whatever? I felt like they
could have shown her demise. I felt like showing that
would have added a bit more weight. What would have
really felt real? Because it really felt like what really
happened to you?
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Say?
Speaker 3 (36:45):
She took these pills? But okay, I guess. Other than that,
they gave you a good story. It's a good sci fi.
It was a lot of up and down explanations of everything.
Like I said, I love the character designs, I love
it feeling like nostalgia, and I liked the fact that
there was so many layers of romance and love intertwined
(37:06):
within it. From felo's love to romantic love to like
arrows just like there was just unrequited it was self love.
Like I said before, it was just so many different
types of love that everybody was experiencing in some degree.
And that's really what I felt like made this Anima
shine again. Thirteen episode format didn't work for this. I
(37:33):
felt like it could have been comprised into a movie,
or at least maybe a four episode over a still
that probably would have been a movie anyway. Yeah, I
gave kloon a uncomfortable with Kloon having a seven out
of ten.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
Okay, we.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Number seven, yep, Number seven for me is my hero Kadaniel.
This was really low on my list, and in the
contrary to Rock where you moved it down, you guys
helped me move my hero up. I have always been
a proponent like I even I enjoyed the season.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
You're dying, You're underwater.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
I'm underwater Okay. Yeah, Mike just went in and out. Okay.
I was saying that I didn't enjoy it the way
y'all enjoyed it. I enjoyed the season as a whole
for sure, but I was never in love with it
like you guys were up until and I can't say
I'm in love with it now, but you guys helped
propel it higher with all of your points in regards
to to academia or to vigilantes, I should say, it's
(38:42):
just I don't know it. It didn't I didn't get
hooked on it. There were a lot of good elements
to the show, but it was nothing that I truly
was like, oh my god. You know. The nostalgia factor
with seeing all the characters, like all the heroes I
should say, in their younger days or in their like
prime days, was really nice. Koichi. The more that you
(39:02):
guys talked about Kochi, the more it makes sense and
the more I can appreciate him. Popstep I really didn't
care much about. And now you guys have intrigued me
with something that's gonna happen in season two that I
can't now can't wait to see. And then knuckle Duster
was just badass as fuck all the time. The American
hero meh, I don't you know, Hopefully he's fucking somewhere
(39:23):
in fucking Hawaii and I never see him again because
I didn't give a fuck about the American hero, and
it just there was not enough for me. Queen Bee
was a really solid was a really solid uh villain,
and the way that you guys laid out like the
principle of between her and knuckle Duster once that was revealed,
and the gravity of that, that made a lot of
(39:45):
sense and upset from that perspective as well. Character design
typical my Hero, Musical composition typical my Hero. Nothing offensive,
but nothing that really stands out in my humble opinion.
So it was solid. It was definitely a solid show.
It's not a disc service or discredit to the franchise,
(40:06):
but I'm not gonna sit here and be like yay
The's Atlantes as of right now. It's just it's solid,
and if you're a completionist, you should watch My Hero
Academic Vigilantes, especially if you can watch the movies. This
is better than most of the movies. But even so,
it is what it is for me. Three and a half,
maybe three seven five, but I'm confidently at three and
(40:28):
a half right now for me.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Number seven, oh, okay, number seven. I really did not
want to put this hair. I I enjoyed it in
the beginning, but it was mostly nostalgia factor. Gundam g bucks.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Them.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
I want to love it. I had it high for
a little bit, but just take the nostalgias after away
the original. I love all that, but just the newer stuff.
It just felt like completely different Gundom and as like
I was like watching too at times. I feel like
(41:16):
I was watching two different things, and I personally did
not like that. Like one comment said that we saw
his peak and ass at the same time, but I
didn't hate it. People are calling it the worst gundam
It's it's not it's far from it's It's not my favorite,
(41:38):
but I will say, like you, if you aren't a
fan of that type of time that you see timeline, yeah,
sure watch it. Also it's I'm always have to see Sharback.
It's one of my favorite characters. It was cool to
see him, like what if he got the Gundamu Machunan.
They were like, I take it or leave it? Though
(42:00):
it is nice. I love the callback. I love how
they did like the eighty, like the callback by the
old School with the music and how certain fights like
were shot as if it was with the power and
all that. I liked all that, but again it's just nostalgia.
I have to rate it as as is like as
(42:21):
his own separate antity type of thing. And it could
have been better. It could have been better, but it's
not the worst thing. That's why it's like in the middle. Well.
Also compared to Arvon, I've seen this season, I think
it's decent in the seven the upper half. So yeah,
number seventy books, all right, Number six.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
Number six, Oh, my number six is Apocalypse Hotel. I
went way too and over this throughout the last dream.
But my my whole feel on this is uh, I
really enjoyed the story for this. The characters were all
(43:09):
unique and interesting and uh it had a really good
fight scene in the middle of it for no fucking reason,
and I it was I mean it was out of place. Yeah,
but it was still a pretty interesting fight. And when
the plot twist happens right at the end, uh, it's
(43:31):
it's really it's a really interesting show.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
M h star man.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
All right, Number seven, all right, six, I was six six, okay,
number six? Uh, number six was Apothecary Diaries. Okay, but
you said Ethan, I don't say nothing. I raise uh
huh all right. So the reason why is apothec carry
(44:02):
divers is the definition of a character driven show. I
stand faithfully on that hill, and I would say it
with my full chest that your ability love and care
about Malmou will completely shape your view, good or bad
of this series. Season two really did have some great moments,
but trying to keep up with the inner politics of
(44:22):
the Jake Pavilion really took some work. At a certain point,
watching apothec Caarry Diars just felt like homework. It just
felt like work. It just I was watching it and
just trying to keep up. The finale dropped all of
the high states that it had built up. Like initially
this show was I was. I actually got a rise
(44:43):
when I got somewhat closer to the end. But once
I realized, oh, none of the children died, they lived,
and they kind of did that whole revelation, it washed
away everything. And then Gingi got his face crashed up
because oh, sel she doing that that she dancing outside,
Like what the fuck are you dancing for? Then she
(45:03):
gets shot and then she ain't dead, and I'm like, yo,
y'all playing with these states in my face? Why y'all
playing with these states in my face? I thought it
was cool that the hairpins saved her you know what
I'm saying. But at the same time, it was just
kind of like, I don't like mal Maou as a character.
She is my least favorite character. I just don't like
malmou So the fact that if you don't love her,
(45:25):
you want to enjoy the series, I feel like that's
just the fact, the fact of the matter. It's not
a bad show. While I still fail to understand the
hype I get. I guess I get the appeal. I
don't understand the hype at all, but I guess I
get the appeal. But I don't like mau Mauth mal
mau is. Every time she come on the screen, I
roll my eyes and be like, Shotty, I kind of
(45:46):
hate that you're the main character. I did stuff that
happened with her and Genthy, I thought that was cool,
But every time I really tried to ruvel in that
is up, fucking that up, and I'm just like, I'm done.
I probably won't watch season three because at this point
I just can't take any more mail mouth bro I
am malmouthed the fuck out so apothecarry Diaries for me,
(46:08):
it's seven out of ten because at least it looks decent,
but Yeah, that's the high as I can go with it.
It didn't I couldn't give it a six. I wasn't
gonna give it a six. I'm not shameful. I actually
watched it with my eyes. It looked good. But yeah,
I gave it. I gave it a seven.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
You're just crushing his soul. Ever you open your mouth.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
Oh, I can't wait to go on the die drive
when I get to it.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
Yeah, bro, I got five better than that coming right up.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Three shows. I'm gonna go on. Little Tangents and Papacarreys
might be the biggest one.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Fireforce was better than Apothecary. I'm gonna save you.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
What was it?
Speaker 3 (46:47):
Fire Forces is better than path Carry? But continue, it's
your turn number.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
Six for me by default. She Inji Family. I enjoyed it,
you know, at the end of the day, to me,
the entire focus really was on arts and how amazing
of a human arts is. That's really what saves the show.
And also you talk about character design, Sean, I think
the character design in in uh Sunji Family is really
(47:13):
great in terms of styles and the way that they dress,
the way that they look, the the the appeal. I
love big, big magnanimous like colors.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
Yeah, they do the power range of ship where everybody
got their own color and that's their personality.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
But I love how bold is. I'm a sucker for
bold colors in my life, and if an animation has bright,
bold colors, I am automatically gravitated toward it. To your point,
because you taught me about character design when it comes
to styles through rent a girlfriend. The styles in this
are really timely, really nice. It fits all the characters.
They all have their own they all have their own style,
(47:51):
Their like their their their designs. I enjoy that aspect
very much. Musical composition is okay. I do think the
the animation and the character design is and the visuals
are what set this apart compared to some of the
other shows. But again, to me, I think the show
really hinges solely on Arta and how good of a
(48:13):
character he is. I enjoy a little bit of the
drama between the characters, seeing who likes who. There's a
little bit of drama involved with that, so that's cool.
It's not my favorite by any special imagination, it's still
three and a half. I just enjoyed watching it a
little bit more for all the drama and the craziness.
Then I did the other shows. Originally I had modesty
(48:34):
in this spot because I enjoyed the music, but y'all
taught me down on that, so by default, she Inji
Family gets six. This is the spot I would have
put Which Watch in if I had the opportunity to. Likewise, seven,
I would have put Demon Sword if I could have
done that. For sure, I like those two shows and
thought more of those two shows compared to the rest
of the shows that I've already listed thus far. But
(48:57):
it is what it is. Number six, she Inji Family.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
Okay, real quick, before I do, I'm gonna say number six, two, three,
They're all about the same. You can put them, you
can swap them anywhere and it will still be like
either the same grade or the same ranking. They're just
sadly are for me. Number six my hero vigilantes, I
(49:29):
have thought. I like, I like the group together, crueler, nice, protagative.
Dutch is fantastic. I like pop Staff. It just came
down Zoo as well, like a little bit better for
different reasons, even just by like small smaller things. I
will say this got me more hypes for season two,
(49:52):
more than the original My Hero story did in the
past few seasons, so I will I will definitely give
it that. That's it felt like how I enjoyed like
season one of My Hero like when I got started
watching I got that field again from watching Vigilantes, like
you know, basic powers, nothing too crazy, nuts and two
(50:14):
over the top. It was just a nice vigilante type
story and they did a damn good job with that.
So that's why number six is Vigilantes for me. All Right,
we are at the final five.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
Top five five d a top five.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
All right, Chris, my number five is Apothecary Diary season two.
Ah well, I didn't much enjoy the first half too.
Speaker 5 (50:53):
How over the place it all over the place it was.
Speaker 4 (50:58):
It really picked up uh in this In this later half,
I enjoyed learning.
Speaker 5 (51:06):
Uh more about uh.
Speaker 7 (51:09):
The Colored by the Secret Society group, the Fox Village
and their whole connection to the Empire.
Speaker 5 (51:20):
Uh the uh the only like uh.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
The revelation that Jinci is the fucking Crown Prince was
great at the end of last uh last quarter was
a good tie in for what was to come uh
in this part, and fucking I hated what happened to
uh or I hated what happened when I to fucking
(51:49):
h Lolan and then like she fucking came back.
Speaker 5 (51:53):
That was fucking so good. I'm so glad she didn't
fucking die.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
That's one split opinion on the show.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
Know you want her?
Speaker 3 (52:02):
No, I did nobody to live in the I would
have loved this ship. Everybody was like dead.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
Want.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
Wanted he wanted to.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
Yeah, I didn't want the children to come back alive.
They didn't, you.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
Know, just go rewatch got killed or fucking Academic Drive.
Everybody did.
Speaker 3 (52:27):
No, Bro, That's that's sad.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
They all died.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
The great animate But that's what really made it good.
That's what really made a common good kill great. But
the fact that it was stake, Bro, these people ain't
coming back, So I feel like.
Speaker 4 (52:42):
You cheap killed off too many characters that weren't originally
supposed to die.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
And and and Academic Drives that was suicide squad though yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
It was literally I talked about they force shatted their
depths in the op he paid attentions.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
So I still say Academic Drive is the best, Like
we're going on for sidetrack. I think it's one of
the best fun nation specific animal.
Speaker 3 (53:08):
It's the easiest twelve episode I would recommend. I would
recommend that twelve episode of a lot of other shows
people as past easy watch. My number five is Fire
Force season three, Part one. It didn't quite heat up
the way I like it too.
Speaker 5 (53:25):
Wait, is this is fire Force four?
Speaker 1 (53:29):
It's a split split next.
Speaker 5 (53:33):
Damn I would have put that umber five.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
Yeah. Yeah, that's why it's my five, because it's I'm
waiting for it to get good, right, I'm waiting for
it to hit up. Pun intended, Wow, going for to
heat up? Man? Pun intended? No, it's is. It set
up the second part perfectly, but the pacing was ass terrible.
(54:00):
This is some of the worst anime pacings like that.
I'm like, y'all not got the park. The only thing
y'all did in his first season was just set up
his brother to join to join them, and Arthur got
his new sword. That was the probably the best part
of the season was Arthur meeting his family.
Speaker 5 (54:20):
It's for the final battle, which.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
Yeah, Arthur, the pillars like the Church. Yeah, all the
politics like the Church. The Church pretty much just like, look,
we want to end the whole world in the Great
Cataclysm again and burn everything alive and they're like, yeah,
that's what God won't that's what we're gonna do. Like
a good coat. I was like, oh, y'all was just
a fire coat and it's like, y'all worship the sun.
(54:46):
I get it, bron start for fire coats the fire department.
Speaker 4 (54:51):
And it was so funny to learn that, Oh, Arthur,
we're just gonna leave you to like THEND for yourself
at age three and then and his parents.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Were terrible, like even asked again when they finally reunite.
Speaker 5 (55:05):
Yeah yeah, what what what what?
Speaker 3 (55:09):
They didn't even leave him again. They they're living in
the city now, playing with the kids, taking them on
all the vacations. He never got the experience, like he
was like, so, whe are your parents now? They're out
with the kids, they're out having vacation, doing all the
stuff they never did. They lived on the ground for
the past four or five years.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
And you and you now realize why Arthur is the
most fucked up actor.
Speaker 5 (55:31):
All that type of me just to.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Look away from.
Speaker 3 (55:39):
Arthur's delusion makes this fun bro like just his great
up delusion. And then they buy into his delusion. So
I really like that A lot of the evil guys
are jumping shipp They're coming back over to the good side.
I thought the last episode was dumb as hell. I
didn't want to see them find a giant fire kaiju
in the water. I'm like, y'all was just fighting. Everybody?
(56:02):
Why y'all fighting? Its John Rock like why Like, Bro,
don't nobody care about this?
Speaker 1 (56:09):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (56:09):
Like and then Shi, we're gonna meditate and the other
girls like, oh yeah, you're gonna marry me.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
I'm like, what what, Bro, Just get the season. Just
get a part two. That's it. It's just set apart
too perfectly. But this is part other than being the doing.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
The fact where.
Speaker 5 (56:27):
Their earth was.
Speaker 2 (56:28):
Actually ha, Bro, I mean that was dope.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
Their earth was that. I saw that Evan Gillian though,
when they do that real a royal footage stuff like, yeah,
the old world was our world.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
But y'all, I mean you can you can deduce that
anyway because it's Tokyo. No.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
No, the word is not, it's not you know. The
word that they're in now is the Sole Healer world
after this. This confirmed that Soul Healer takes place after this.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
Yeah, but I mean you still have u Aakasa whatever
the fuck and that's a legitimate Japanese town in Tokyo.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
I'm not saying it's not. What I'm saying is whatever
goes down goes down because the Worlands Soul Eater ain't
the same world, but I know it's the same world.
Speaker 4 (57:12):
Sure well that no one does that that that only
gets end up the series.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
No, I mean people, if you go online, you know that.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
I literally did.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
I was, and then I started watching Fire Force.
Speaker 3 (57:24):
And my point I didn't I didn't research that. I
didn't read that. No one told me that. It's just
I see Soul Eater and they got that same moon,
and I know the world sould Either looks a lot
crazier than this world, and if it got the same moon,
I'm like, this got to be in the future. That
was the only question which came first, Soul Either or
Fire Force.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
I'm like, I saw it online and I was like,
I'm gonna watch Soul Eater and then I didn't get
a chance to. Then I saw Fireforce. Then the connection
came in where you're like, oh, this is like the
fire Force is the prequel. I'm like, oh, then I'm
just gonna hold off on Soul Eater until Fire Force
is completely over with. Then I'm gonna go and watch
Soul Eater. So I hear y'all number four from I'm sorry,
(58:03):
number five for me.
Speaker 3 (58:06):
That's what I gave it en fair enough.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
I feel like Matt five and four fairly interchangeable. I
put number five for me. Win Breaker season two. I
enjoyed the ship out of it. The fights are amazing.
To Chris's point earlier that he made in the show
or in the awards, I should say Soakarra's development, although
still kind of cringe in a way, is noticeable. He
has progressed, he has matured and improved. The fights is
(58:34):
what you're always looking at when you look at Win Breaker.
The fights are great and the backstory is or sorry,
the stories that are intertwined through them are solid. Subaci
story is by far the best thing about this season
outside of the fights. It was a wonderfully told story,
and although the season finale was a little bit lackluster,
(58:56):
it did do basically what season one did from that essence,
which was basically set up the stage for season three,
which I very much look forward to. I still am
of the proponent that I enjoyed season one more probably
because there were more fights. But season two did not
take a major step back whatsoever. Like I said said,
I gave season one four and a half. I gave
(59:17):
season two a solid four, given the series a four
and a quarter, which aligns with what Matt gives it
from his perspective when we talked on the podcast. I
enjoyed it. I can't wait for season three. Glad y'all
put me on.
Speaker 5 (59:31):
I'm upset. I didn't realize when Breakers also, I thought
I thought when Breakers was a continual halt.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
No, that's that's the downfall. It should have been.
Speaker 5 (59:45):
It should have been last time.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Yeah, it should have been. That's the whole point after
seeing see I'll get to that later. But yes, this
confirmed it, like they dropped the ball with not making
this twenty four episodes.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
Number five for me is kin low generic rumance. I
like the characters, like like Sean said, you know what,
I probably could have been a movie or maybe a
ten episode thing instead of a twelve and thirteen. I
not the great with Payson and you can tell like
(01:00:17):
some of it. It definitely did drag like until yeah,
we got then we actually learned the more about the mystery,
did build up though just the in between he either
felt repetitive or just involves someone that just do really
care that much about it. U the sci fi part, like,
(01:00:38):
I didn't really get a whole lot of sci fi
just except for the mirage. Basically, it wasn't like a
mean thing. The romance. As Shan said, what different types
like different types of love? That is, yeah, correct, But
if we're going by like just a straight up romance,
it's just a little forgettable. If you look at it
(01:01:00):
in that perspective, that's better. So I actually liked that.
I actually liked that better than just figuring it as
just a regular romance ANIMs, So I never expect that
for that I have it is fun. I know they
had the anime original ending, and there was no way
they were going to drive us like two maybe three.
(01:01:21):
But so I'm glad it was just the one season. Yeah,
it just didn't need to be firsteen episodes probably could
have been ten and it'd be a lot better. Or yeah,
just ten or the movie as out two two and
a half hours, depending on how they want to do it.
But okay, I have fun, though it's for a reason.
(01:01:42):
There's a lot more which I could have put on here.
But you gotta make with make with what you got, essentially,
so number five calun.
Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
M okay are definitely could have been.
Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
It just didn't be for two. That's all.
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
When I get to cow, I'll try and sell it
to you where it's all right, that's my goal.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Now we don't need to tell we all watched it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
No, I meant sell it as in like to count
your point.
Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
Okay, sure, Number four, Chris.
Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
My number four is cast me at the ballpark. As
I said earlier, I really the huh yeah, I really
enjoyed the characters. The cast was all interesting, interesting and
u unique. It was just a fun, comfy show where
(01:02:38):
I it was just like better than most of the
by the life I watched this season. Okay, yeah, I
can't really go more into what I've already said.
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
No, No, you're good, You're good, alright, Star number four.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
All right, number four? Okay, So for number four on
my list, I have SENTI Dasha Kaku season two. Dashaki
Kaku Go Go Los Rangers. Yeah, man, look it was it.
(01:03:27):
I feel like they lost the focus in the second season.
The dragon Keepers weren't the bad guys, and you didn't
hate him as much. Like you kind of did. In
season one. They kind of had this redemption art thing
going on, and that kind of puzzled me a bit.
Fider D even got very annoying in season two, Like
he was pretty annoying most of the season. But I
got to get credit what credits do, because there were
(01:03:50):
a lot of revelations that happened later in the season,
and it was like a lot they opened up the store,
so you got to get more people's uh more people's
feelings and motivations for even wanting to take down the
dragon Keepers, and the dragon Keepers came this close to
being taken down by the news, by the media, and
(01:04:11):
then when they popped up this whole monster, the Monster
Protection Society or whatever they call him, you're just kind
of like mystified, And yeah, you know, I didn't know
you could procreate with monsters, but apparently you can't anything
you want to No, no, you know, you just can't
get him pregnant. But no, it was a lot of
(01:04:31):
revelations that happened. Fight er D doesn't know what he's
fighting for at this point. He he doesn't know what
he's fighting for, but there's a lot of stakes. I
like the Green I like the Green dragon Keeper, he's
pretty cool. The new Blue dragon Keeper ain't that bad.
The Yellow dragon Keeper you find out the truth about him,
and the truth about him changes the whole view of
(01:04:53):
the whole series because you find out he's worse than
the Red It's like, damn you worse in Red. Fier
D gets exposed. That's the big secret. He gets exposed.
You know, his secrets out. But they're like, bro, we've
been on but you're fighting with us, so what who
side are you on? He really has to answer that question.
But they had some big battles and power Ranger style.
(01:05:17):
They come combining their weapons. It's really dope. Man. Season two,
this is the first eight out of ten I'm giving
for the night. It wasn't as good as season one,
but it wasn't like a big step down. It was
just kind of like a backstep. It wasn't like a
it wasn't like a yeah, it didn't backtrack. It's just
kind of like you're you're almost as good, but you're
(01:05:38):
not terrible. You didn't fall off. It just felt like
it needs more, But I enjoyed it. Man, eight out
of ten.
Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
Yeah, I really enjoyed, Like, uh, Fighter d getting locked
with Death Mafia at the end. It was that was
really nice. I'm glad they did a good job with
that team.
Speaker 1 (01:05:58):
Yeah, all right, even number four number four for me,
y'all managed to knock it down from number three.
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
And that's Fire four season three.
Speaker 5 (01:06:07):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Yeah, well it's not locked in terms of where, like
I'm not moving it crazy places. The five is in
the stay in the five. Wait see y'all hear number three?
Number four? H Fire four season three. I came into
today realizing like, oh, it's not better than seasons one
and two. It's five. Four. Season three is solely pulled,
(01:06:33):
and I think for the remainder of these shows is
gonna be specifically, my theme for the four through one
is gonna be what's called payoffs. Fire four season three.
I agree with with Matt the pacing in the first
half with shit, didn't like it. I agree with Sean
from the aspect that Fire Force in the back half
really set up the final battle really quite well. The
(01:06:56):
payoffs specifically in that back half of the season, really
we're really solid, And I think, like as I mentioned,
it's a theme the payoffs. As you continue to answer
more questions, you are able to really hook the viewer
and fire Force in the back half really did that.
Prior to that, though, it was just led by the fights,
(01:07:17):
incredible music, incredible animation and visuals. Musical composition fits all
of those fights and scenes really well, and it's just
bad ass to look at. It basically takes my mark
of I'm a simpleton and I like badass fights that
look fucking cool and are animated really nice. Check that box,
no problem. I'm the opposite. I like Sean's point of
(01:07:40):
where if you don't like mo MIU, you're not gonna
like a pop carries as much, and if you do,
then you'll love it. I feel that way about Arthur.
He loves Arthur. I fucking hate Arthur. I don't give
a flying fuck about Arthur. I know he is the
second most op character and he's gonna be super essential
to the battle. I'm fully aware of that, but I
hate the principle that the He's fucking idiots continue to
(01:08:01):
feed into this fucking idiot's illusion. I hate it. I
fucking hate it. Y'all are some dumb ass motherfuckers.
Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
Just you meet it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
EXCaliber, I don't give a fuck about Excalader. The only
EXCaliber I know and care about is the one that's
the announcer on aw Crazy, the only motherfucker I care about.
Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
I don't you get it?
Speaker 4 (01:08:21):
Yeah, I know, I know, I know who I much
try it calls his cock Excalibur.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Call your cock that that would make me fucking laugh
more than your fucking little sword. The parents are shit.
That that was the most regeeming part of that whole
two or three episode block is that we saw oh
he's ship because his parents are fucking the worst parents
that you've seen in several seasons on a fucking anime.
Until we saw Tacape two weeks ago. They upped that shit.
(01:08:47):
But even so, you know, I didn't give a fuck
about that. But outside of that, I still enjoyed the ride.
I enjoyed Fire Force. I'm very much looking forward to
the finale in January. And that's really all I gotta
say about that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
Okay, number four for me, shoshman, Uh, you know what,
I did like this better than season one. I like that,
I like it that it was more linear. I didn't
care that much about the mysteries in season one, but
I get why they did it. Okay, Like you know
what they're capable of. Now, let's see what happens in
(01:09:22):
season two with OHS and I and what's thee.
Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
The guy's name.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
And I come about to get to see them separate
for a bit, like after their breakup from OS and
I going freaking sech like I was hoping she's being
intagists again. But that's the only thing that deducted some points.
I want to see a little bit of her doing
that again. But I like the case with the arsonists,
OS and I just ruined Udo's confidence in like second
(01:09:55):
grand killed he killed it. She killed the man. She
killed a man in public.
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
Not quite sure that like.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
Like like like out out of that, like I got
outside of the open that one walked by is all this?
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Like, now, you would have loved if he did she
did in front of the school.
Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
I would have. I would have because you know, he
had he had this fucking ego and he he need
to be put in his place. And I'm glad he
did in some capacity. Yeah, uh second second case, you
know what, that was fine. We get a little bit
more about how I was an I'm commado mets. I
like the conclusion of that. We're definitely not gonna get
(01:10:32):
season three. The main story is fully adapted. The don't
they have like some spinoff stuff? But that really that
that's really not important. But it did end nicely. I
will definitely give it that. Uh it got the season
one ta enough is other better shows, you know what,
I'm sure, But I don't have an a hero x
(01:10:54):
to basically be on my twotor three basically, so unfortunately,
that's what I'm dealing with. Number four Sucherman's Season two.
All right, Number three, Chris, My.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Number three is Kowloon. I really enjoyed the mystery for
this show. I really enjoyed the payoff at the end
of The characters were all great and interesting, and uh,
it was great to have fucking reco just tell uh, Hudo,
that's that's the main character's name. Yeah, Hudo to just
(01:11:34):
fucking let her go and and just make she was
allowed to be her own person.
Speaker 1 (01:11:43):
Mhm, the liects.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Number three, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
Number three for me is One Breaker season two. It's
one Breaker season two because you know, it's set up
season one, it's set up from season one. It improved, improved.
Everything got complained about the pacing, the character development, everything
was sharper honestly, it felt more like a continuation of
(01:12:17):
season one than a flat out second season, especially with
them opening up the whole season with a fight where
they left off with last season. And I feel like
Windbreaker Religious should have been one two core season. It
should have just been part one part two. Them splitting
it up still doesn't make any sense. I feel like
if you flesh it together, it's more digestible. But I
(01:12:42):
feel like it delivered on everything I wanted it to do.
Like we got I don't know, we got character development,
we got some less just more fights, you know, it
really just and they opened up about what's to come,
about the new battles to come. So I'm more excited
for season three. But they got to give me, like
(01:13:04):
I don't know, I feel like Freeran is. I feel
like what they're doing with Demon Slayer they probably should
do with Freeran. Bro Like, either make this one loan season,
twenty four episodes, or just make this a bunch of
two hour movies. I feel like The Freedom would be
a great movie series. You could cut out a lot
of the middle stuff and just give us a lot
of fights. I feel like because free Rent not freet
(01:13:27):
both ran both Rien. I feel like feuring. I feel
like this is the one anime that is currently airing
that you could take to Netflix, or take the Warner Brothers,
or take the Hollywood and make live action right now.
And I feel like you get adopes, you get a dope. Yeah,
I saw that. I'm just saying, you know, okay, eight
(01:13:52):
out of ten mm hmm, your number three.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
Number three, by the way, to go back on Fire Force,
I gave Fire Force Season three four and a quarter
out of five, so then I gave that a solid
I think I gave a seven out of ten when
I did it. Number three for me, Show Shamin in
season two, Matt covered a lot of the points just
now in his number four. I will say this when
it comes to Show Shamin. I enjoyed, just like him,
(01:14:18):
season two a lot more than season one. Every single
one of the stories. Matt thought they were good. I
thought they were great. I enjoyed the payoffs. The payoffs
were tremendous in season two. The way they wrapped everything
up was really solid. I enjoyed the steaks season one.
The reason why people didn't necessarily like I would imagine
(01:14:40):
season one is because they were very minimal stakes involved
up until the last arc with the abduction of OLSONI
the season two had stakes from the jump Arson and
then subsequently literally attempted murder, and then the finale was
basically trying to starve all being murdered for this. Their
(01:15:03):
gumption to want to solve mysteries continued to put them
in perilous positions, and it culminated in them literally almost
dying in the freezing cold on a rooftop, with them
having to basically talk their way out of getting murdered
by this fucking psycho that was hell bent on killing
(01:15:24):
them for all the wrong reasons. The payoffs and especially
the stakes were really high for this, and I appreciated
that very much. It is a little bit of a
shame that we won't see a season three. In my opinion,
the fact that they adapted it so well to the
news that Matt just said two seconds ago makes total sense.
(01:15:45):
I'm with it. It ended really well. I win the
mind of the season three, but nonetheless I enjoyed the
absolute hell out of shoshamin least I forget also the visuals.
It did win my visuals of the season. The visuals tremendous,
the way they shot that in movie format is unique
to the show itself. No other show truly does it
(01:16:06):
in that method that I've seen as of the times
that I've been watching anime. And I know I'm more
junior to the three of you, but I thoroughly enjoyed
that that aspect ratio that they shoot in. And then,
as I mentioned in the last episode, the way that
they go into the the the fucking panel shots of
the landscape and how they capture that. It's really really
(01:16:30):
well done. Musical composition fits everything well. It fits the
drama of the moment, it fits some lightheartedness when they're
in cafes and things of that nature. I think it
attributes to the show quite well, acclimates the show quite
well in terms of when it needs to have what note.
So yeah, solid, solid four and a half for me
(01:16:54):
as far as I'm concerned for social media.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
All right? Number three for me. Apocalypse Hotel uh for
somebody that I picked up late. I very much enjoyed it,
definitely a lot more than the other shows I had.
I'm I like a post like a good post apocalyptic
world setting, and they did a nice job with the hotel,
Like it's like Tasakari Hotel. Like a different setting can
(01:17:25):
make it. This makes it seem so vastly different depending
on the characters everything. I like all these characters. I
like Siaoichi, I like I like Yellow Robots. It could
be funny at times, it could be serious, get get
get a little bit of a dramatic at it aspect
of it. It had a nice balance of everything. That
(01:17:45):
is what drew me into it. I am happy that
I got. I'm happy it was able to pick it
up until twelve episodes. Was plenty, very fun if you're
into that sci fi type of setting. That stuff I
would recommend in Stars of checking Out. So yeah, Number
three Apocalypse himself, all right. Number two Chris, my hero Acada.
Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
This was everything I was hoping for when they announced it.
H I love uh the manga. When I read it,
it gave me the fix for like the character development
that my hero story black in the later arts, and
(01:18:36):
it's just.
Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
Yeah, it's really great.
Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
I enjoyed koy Uh learning developing as a character, pop
step Uh supporting him through her huge crush that he
is too oblivious to see. All the side characters are
fucking uh important in their own way.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
It's just.
Speaker 4 (01:19:02):
What I really wish my hero could be, but I
e sadly won't.
Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Okay, all right, so man, Chris, we were almost wins.
Like I literally had a visit. I had that there.
I had to think about things for a little minute.
My number two. I don't know about you, but for me,
(01:19:32):
this was the best production of twenty twenty five Springs
so far. Had the best animation, best visuals, and that's
really what the heavy lifted I'm talking about. Gunam Cooks,
gunm Cooks. I'm giving it a eight out of ten.
That's my number two really because of the style and
the spectacle. I think that was pretty fun. Of what
(01:19:52):
you said, Matt, when you said it's as in the time,
at the same time, it was just like, yeah no,
because it's like the elephant in the cockpit is basically
the main characters of this show were flat, their motivations flat,
even more flat, like literally they got into a fight
(01:20:13):
over a boy they barely knew that they both did
they were in love to.
Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
And I'm like, I'm telling you that that's the.
Speaker 3 (01:20:24):
True power of New Type Bro, this new type magic
ship Bro. Like they dude had the person that bro
he bro he had the personality of a baked potato like.
Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
Chicken. Is that what you trying to say, Bruddy had?
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
No, I'm talking about like see Machu, you would think. Okay.
My personal take is I think Machu was being a carnation.
She was amro ray in this timeline because of the
red hair. But when you get when you get to
the fact that he fought shar, it's kind of like, oh,
were you a moro? I don't know, But like I said,
(01:21:01):
if you are a fan of the original Gundam series,
you will either love it because of the callbacks, or
you will feel that it sat on the shoulders of
their original and pissed on it. I feel like you're
not gonna be in the middle. You're gonna feel like
either they took their favorite original series and just pissed
on it and just use it as a stepping stone
(01:21:22):
to sell this this new thing. But I liked it
for that reason. I really liked the fact that how
you also said, Matt that you didn't you feel like
you were watching two different shows.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
I love the fact that I love the fact that
you put Machu in a yon in the same episode
with Casilia and it's like, bro, y'all look out of place.
Y'all don't even look like this the same anime. I
loved that. I thought that that was really cool because
it's still kind of fit. But the only reason this
(01:21:55):
is not my number one show despite the fact that
the characters and their motives were super flat, what's the
fact that this deserves the Witch of Mercury treatment. This
deserved to have twenty four or fifty episodes. I just
felt like it was way too short. I saw it
in the movie, and that's really what sold it. While
(01:22:16):
I was like, yeah, this is gonna topic because if
you would have saw them first, you would have saw
the first three episodes like how they make the movie.
You just saw that in imax. Oh my, g oh my.
Al made up my mind. Then this was gonna be
the best visual animation because seeing this in the movie,
it was like nothing else. But it looked so good.
(01:22:36):
That's that's what they're all the heavy listening, the plot
and all character stuff. Be damned.
Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
The the production character.
Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
The production I'm talking production said fine, like thing, oh
so I'll do it myself, like that's the spy of
what it did.
Speaker 2 (01:22:52):
And in the backpack kids Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
It just literally puts it in the backpack and was like,
all right, bro, I got you. Like the production just
carried the whole Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
All right, that's fair. No, I can respect that part.
It is definitely definitely basicully produced.
Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
That's great. But oh my god, Manchu is an idiot
now and it's even more of an idiot.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
I agree on that one, even number two kylowon Generic Romance.
I'm gonna start off with trying to do my best
account of your point. The three of you say that
it should be short. I agree that it should have
been twelve episodes, not thirteen. They should have not done
the anime original. I will say this. I did not feel, Matt,
(01:23:38):
that the pacing was off by any stretch of the imagination.
This is what they tried to do in this show
is very and they did it slowly, admittedly, but they
very slowly built up built up what the mystery was.
They over the course of the season. As they built
up that mystery, they gave you little payoffs every couple episodes,
(01:24:01):
and they continue to build with more questions. It is
a layer of question answer. Given the stick the rat,
is it the stick in the rabbit? Or the stick
in the carrot. They stick and carrot you throughout this series,
and they when they do that, they give you bigger
bites of the carrot. When you catch up, you get
a nibble, and you get a bite, and you get
a chunk, and then you get the whole rest of
(01:24:22):
the carrot when it's all said and done. It is
layered from that perspective, which is why I appreciated it.
I found no issues with the pacing. I thought that
the story that they told over the course of the
twelve episodes was solid enough. It probably didn't need the
original the original thirteenth episode, but it was fine for
what it was. Not a humongous deal. I can respect
(01:24:44):
Sean's point how it left you wondering and left you
like having to like really question things, but I didn't
mind that. From my perspective, it left you wondering. It
left you trying to speculate and try and put your
own deductions together in relation to how the world was
being built in that time and different ways that you
(01:25:04):
can see the world being built, and some of that
does lead to the overarching payoffs that you do get.
I thoroughly enjoyed, as I alluded to in the in
the awards. The nineties aspect the one one of my
it's a minor criticism, but it drove me nuts that
this show is set in nineteen ninety seven with nineteen
ninety three flashbacks that equivalent, and they all have smartphones.
(01:25:30):
They drove me nuts that they all had smartphones.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
Are you sure about that timeline? Because they had like
literally there was an episode where where where Shoty needed
money and he was just like, Oh, I'm gonna use
online banking. Yeah you this money?
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Yeah, no, it is it is. I forget where it
was I read that, but it's distinctly set in nineteen
ninety seven. Oh, I think it's one of the I
think it's in the show, like one of the years.
Speaker 1 (01:25:57):
It's like, it's probably probably us in that cal Lowton outside.
Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
Of it in that well. No, the Kowloon is ahead
of time. So the Kowloon out or sorry, the Hong Kong,
Hong Kong is set in nineteen ninety seven. In that Kowloon,
it is set to nineteen ninety four on the calendar
and it goes back. They do allude to it when
they go through the demolition episode where it said three
years in the past. It is based It is.
Speaker 4 (01:26:22):
Based off the actual Kowloon City District was destroyed in
nineteen ninety four, so three years later is ninety seven boom.
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
In any case, it drove me nuts that they had
smartphones online banking. It was like that.
Speaker 4 (01:26:36):
That was they have a giant fucking space satellite that's
able to fucking recreate the fucking small ass town.
Speaker 1 (01:26:42):
We don't need to.
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
Oh, that's that's the sci fi. I agree with Matt's
point when it comes to the fact that it's the
romance aspect is a back burner, and you don't think
of it outside of with that, outside of looking at
it from that very aspect approach that Sean did, which
I appreciated the fuck out of. That was wonderfully told,
and I didn't think of it that way. But the
(01:27:04):
romance part, if you look at it from Matt's point
of it being just a flat romance, it doesn't hit.
But that's not the point of the show. The point
of the show is really I had written this down
that there are two points of the show that are
told when it's all said and done. The show point
A is that you have to find your true self
and live your true self. In order to do that,
(01:27:27):
you must embrace yourself, embrace everything that is of you
and accept that and accept that no one can dictate
or change who you are, because to live your true
self means to live freely. They want to live freely.
Kuzurai wants to live freely, and y'all may wants to live.
All the characters, they all want to live freely, and
(01:27:48):
that's what really matters the most. From that aspect, and
point two, which I think is an even bigger points
in regards to kudo, I often in my personal life
wish I could go back and change time, go back
in time, recreate time. You can't do that. That's not
the way the real world works. You have to accept
what has occurred and you have to find closure and healing.
(01:28:10):
However you do that is how you do that. But
you must accept that you cannot go back in time.
Even if you could go back in time, you have
to understand that things will not be as you envision
them if you were to go back. Things are meant
to be as they were. That is fate is destiny.
You cannot change that. You can dream and pray and hope,
(01:28:33):
but things will never come to fruition in the way
that you envision, because that is not the way the
universe acts, and that is a real big piece of
why I enjoyed kaw Loom. I can go back and
talk on and on about the animation, I could talk
about the character design. I can talk about the sci
fi that you probably could have used a little bit
(01:28:54):
more sci fi, but I enjoyed the sci fi for
what it was. This show, in my opinion, was so
vastly different from what I normally watch, and that's why
I enjoyed it so much. It was such a refreshing show,
and I would thoroughly enjoy more shows coming out of
similar ILK. It makes me, if I had the time,
want to go back and watch more sci fis of
(01:29:15):
similar ILK from the past.
Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
Like the original trun I did see the.
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Original truck Gun, but in any case, Yeah, that is
my main diatribe as it relates to that with Kowloon
Kowloon four and a half stars. Number two.
Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
All right, Number two for me is Windbreaker season two.
I definite liked the fights. I like the soundtrack that
went with it's I'm glad it took a breather in
between from that fight to the next one. I didn't
want just fight fight. I wanted I wanted to get
learn about the characters. I want to see how they
(01:30:00):
interacted outside of that. I wanted to give a shit
about it because I don't give about just fights any
more than just fights not moving.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
I know you don't.
Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
Yeah, So that's why I'd like them to better, because
there's actual growth in it, because yeah, we can get
fights anywhere, but a good fisted the fifth. They did
a good job with that. On top of it. I
liked both of the arcs, with the Keel arc in
the beginning and then the Pleasure District for the other one.
(01:30:34):
Nice hype buff for Endo and the other guy to end.
It should be a split corps or continuous core, yes
it should, but for just doing a twelve, you know,
I think this was a little bit better compared to
season one. That's why I give That's why yeah, number
two win Breaker enjoyed a lot. I'm very excited for
(01:30:59):
season free whenever we get it. An they won't do
the live action first. I'm sure we'll get announcement after that,
but no, I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (01:31:06):
But I like the new characters, introduction of the characters, fights, fights, music,
growth for Sacra, introduction to the Kings, like like I
was like Subaki and the others. So no, I'm again,
I'm excited. So get number two wind Breaker. All right,
(01:31:27):
number one.
Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
We've waited a long time for this, guys, and I've
waited even longer.
Speaker 5 (01:31:36):
Two fucking seasons I've waited.
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
For the I thought I was gonna say, Lazarus, Wow,
it's don't may cry.
Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
No, it's season two. I fucking enjoyed this. It was
so worth the wait. Just just like not even because
the fucking opening was is so good, but like the
show really did uh like better in the story uh
(01:32:13):
in it telling its story uh with getting you interested
in the politics going on in the world and introducing
you to the.
Speaker 5 (01:32:25):
Uh world itself.
Speaker 4 (01:32:28):
It's just it was so fucking good and and I can't.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
Really what no, what show was it?
Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
H Are the Rise of a New World Season two?
Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
Gotcha?
Speaker 1 (01:32:47):
Yeah, you're supposed to get it like.
Speaker 5 (01:32:50):
I was supposed to get in. I was supposed to
get it last year.
Speaker 1 (01:32:54):
Yeah, and then I got.
Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
Oh, hey, you like those four episodes?
Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
You got good?
Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
Because all right, well my number one drum roll please, no,
none needed my hero Academia Vigilantes, Chris said a lot
of the reasons it gave me it reminded me of
the first season of My Hero While I liked it personally,
(01:33:23):
I think stripping away you a and just focusing on
some high state street level hero work, it's the smartest
move the franchise made in years. Dark Deck was cool,
but I feel like every this feels like you're everybody's
at that big party and it's crowded and it's hot,
and they just want to claim they're having a good
(01:33:43):
time and you're at somebody's house party and it's like, yo,
this is a vibe, like not everybody's here. But I
kind of like it this way, Like it really just
feels like with Vigilantis, you get to tell people, you know,
if you know, you know, you get to tell people, hey,
you're missing out this out. I think you'll enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
I don't think you're gonna see many key shirts with
the Crawler on it or a bunch of you know,
popsed up backpacks, But I think this Tree of Heroes
was like just way more interesting. They just stripped away
the whole like, I don't know, just not no, it's
like you got to get a couple of people with
quirks and one guy who doesn't even have any this
(01:34:23):
guy straight up Batman, like, I'm really poison cut the
Crawler with the prep time tape Batman, you know, not
the Crawler, but you know, uh, you know knuckle Duster,
Like his name is knuckle Duster. Like, come on, knuckle Duster.
Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
I may not have a quirk, but I'm not out
of options, right.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
So the finale, Yeah, the finale did feel like a
little feller, but they were able to uh set up
the next season. They were able to traum us a
little bit, give us some music. We got closure, we
got some closure, and we got like built up. I
feel like the last episode I'm a fan of when
you actually close everything in depend ultimate and then the
(01:35:08):
finale you use that for closure, because I think a
lot of anime they close everything out in the finale
and they you either get closed in the last five
minutes of the episode or you don't get in at all.
So I appreciate them just been like, dude, we're coming
right back. We're coming right back. Don't even wait. And
after I got my my pop step spoiler, it's like,
oh shit, let's go. I'm ready. I'm really pumped for
(01:35:31):
season two. Like, so this is my number one. I
give it an eight out of ten. I'm satisfied. I'm
fast fied man. Yeah yeah, yeah what he said. Yeah,
So Vigilance says earned the spot. It will be cracking
my top ten for the annuals because, as I said,
(01:35:52):
every number one anime for each season gets the spot.
So Vigilances earned a spot. Congratulations, Vigilances run the spot.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
Imagine imagine knuckle Duster with with one for all Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:36:08):
What I'm saying, Bro, I literally thought of that all might.
I know you had to give it to Dad Coup,
but my g if knuckle Duster got that power, Bro,
it'd be no, you cann't give him that power though
he is he's an anti hero.
Speaker 2 (01:36:26):
Yeah, he at take it too far.
Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
He's like Batman for real.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
That's knuckle Doctor would just literally like check something and
it'll just go flying one hundred feet, destroy buildings.
Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
Just make him a suit, give him, just make him
he's Batman for re. He's just he's.
Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Give him.
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
He needs the U A Tech Academy for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:36:48):
I think the next season that is when all My
gets his suit. I saw that spoiler suit yeah the yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
Yeah gets a suit al right? Number one for me,
I'd said it was number one for weeks. There's no
surprise that it stood where it was. Pothcarry Diary season two.
I am not Sean. I love the fuck out of Malmouth.
I agree with Sean because I love mal Mouth. That's
(01:37:17):
probably why I love this show. However, I will give
you other points as to why I love this show. Again,
as I said, with the theme from four through one,
the whole overarching theme of this top four is going
to be payoffs. I can agree slightly that the pay
that the pacing from from the first half was a
(01:37:39):
little bit lacking compared to the second half, but nonetheless,
as more things progressed in the second half, this show
for me excelled because it answered every single question that
has lingered since the second half of season one. It
took a while to get there, but I appreciate how
they did it. Every single piece of the overarching mystery
(01:38:05):
involving the Inner Palace all centered when you when it
boils down to it, after the backstory is told, it
goes down to the pervert, previous emperor, the pedophile when
it's all said and done. Everything revolves around the previous administration.
This show is about rectifying the consequences of the previous
(01:38:27):
emperor's actions. There is immense fallout from those actions, and
that that that gets spread throughout the palace, throughout many
many people's lives, people that get killed, people that get vanished,
people that are in all these different scenarios and have
to deal with all sort of all sorts of issue.
(01:38:52):
What's the word I'm looking for. There's a big word
that I wanted to use. But in any case, all
sorts of issues that they have to overcome, trials and
tribulations that the have to overcome, and I think the
payoffs in Apothecary Diaries season two were tremendous. Similar to
Caylloun with the with the Carrot and the Stick, they
(01:39:12):
would do the same thing, except it was even it
was to an even greater level. With the Pothecarry Diaries,
they would give you a big question and in the
process over that time that that question form would give
you more layers two and more answers to previous questions
that were had throughout the back half. Starting from the
(01:39:34):
back half of season one, going into this season, too.
The payoffs were tremendous. As I mentioned, from that aspect,
I can respect Sean's thought process of keeping up with
the politics is work. I can respect that I didn't
feel that way. I was able to keep up with
it fairly well. It becomes something of like it becomes
something of a web but you see the meme of
(01:39:55):
the fucking crazy guy and he's got all the fucking
like the webs and all that leading to that center.
When you are able to put that together and you're
able to hyperfixate on the politics of that show, you
are able to easily deduce where it is going, and
you can see all the pieces and where they form,
and what that leads to and where that goes from there.
(01:40:20):
I was really, really, really happy with being able to
be able to ride that ride. It is a thriller.
It is a mystery that I am not used to
because again similar to that, there's not many shows that
do it to this level in my opinion that Apothecary does.
(01:40:41):
Mau Mau is a to me again, a tremendous protagonist
where this entire universe indeed does revolve around her. However,
her essence is what truly drives the change in the
inner Palace. A single female apothecary that was abducted against
her will forced to work in the palace has fundamentally
(01:41:04):
changed the existence of the administration and subsequently the company
or the country. I think that is a tremendous testament
to how malmou is. She uncovers the Fox village. She
is able to deduce and put pieces together on her own.
There is hardly any sort of assistance that she gets.
(01:41:27):
And she speaks and rightfully so, about the principles of
solving mysteries. A lot of what we do when we
try to deduce questions if we speak in conjecture, and
when you speak in conjecture, oftentimes that may lead you
to an improper conclusion that may have greater results in
(01:41:49):
a negative light as you progress through whatever you're dealing with.
But the principle being able to use the conjecture that
she conjures up is able. She's able to really fortify
that conjecture. She seeks avenues, she seeks resources. She's really
good at pulling resources to be able to give substance
to that conjecture, to be able to really give you
(01:42:12):
a solid opinion, where when it's all said and done,
and the mystery is solved or the question is answered.
You have a definitive reasoning, definitive timeline, definitive process as
to the wind, where, how, and why, And that gives
you more anticipation for the next steps. Is that it
is there more to it. There's more peeling of the onion,
(01:42:33):
as we talked about throughout this entire series. I enjoyed
that ride so fucking much. Cannot wait for the sequel,
cannot wait, cannot wait to see what else unfolds. How
she makes her waight is inevitable. She makes her way
back to the inner Palace. I think she has endeared
herself to that administration to the umpteenth degree, and she
(01:42:55):
will become something of what her father is, in a
different light or in a different way, but still tantamount
to that country as a whole. I can forgive the
I can forgive some of the finale as it relates
to the happy ending. I don't mind the happy ending.
I don't mind if it would have been a dark
ending either, but I can forgive some of those pieces.
I thought it ended quite well. The happy ending was
(01:43:18):
really nice. The end with Jinshi was cute and funny.
It's the ship. It's one of the biggest ships I
think in all of anime that people are looking forward to,
is the moment that they come together and they consummate
that relationship, not in the sexual aspect, but the principle
of actually officially being together. I think it is highly
anticipated and I can't wait for that moment to arise,
(01:43:39):
and I can't wait to see how they maybe draw
in some of the characters as they progress through that
next season or that next movie, to be able to
bring them in and lend credence to whatever scenario that
they find themselves in and find themselves as useful. Every
character you see there has a purpose, has a reason,
(01:43:59):
contributes to story, contributes to Mile mouse overarching development, and
Ginghi's overarching character development, similar to Calhoun from the character aspects.
From that perspective, I just thoroughly enjoyed Apothecary's So fucking much.
Probably midway through the first half of Apothecary's I always
knew this was gonna be a top three anime, and
(01:44:22):
it pretty quickly got to number one, and it never
lost its place for me as far as I'm concerned.
So so thrilled with Apothecary's cannot recommend this show enough
to people that enjoy thriller mystery anime and good character
development and awesome animation and wonderful musical composition and wonderful
character design. It checks all the boxes for me as
(01:44:43):
a really good show that you can recommend to someone
that may not be an anime watcher and they may
find pleasure in this show. I gave it a five
out of five. I don't care that you may think
it's high. I say that with my chest.
Speaker 3 (01:44:55):
Love it, grat wo.
Speaker 1 (01:45:00):
Minutes, twenty six seconds, bro one one.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
I would do one, and I saved it for my fine.
I did that.
Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
I gave you your one.
Speaker 2 (01:45:10):
I saved it.
Speaker 1 (01:45:12):
But if you were, if you were going past ten,
I was gonna cut you.
Speaker 2 (01:45:15):
No, no, no, no no no. It didn't hit me
to an emotionally visceral level for me to go that long.
I can.
Speaker 1 (01:45:24):
I can get rid of. That's number one doublet make
cry right here at the Papa carry. I didn't rate
it as high as him. Is it for mad Mouth?
Whether you like her or you don't, there's no middle,
there's no gray area. I enjoy her. I get house
(01:45:44):
vibes mightas her being the natural doctor is more of
a papa carry, but she's house basically, it's female house.
So I like that we got to learn more about
she instead of being just as Munich that's just with
Ma Mau. Like we get to know more about the
empire itself, with the previous emperor, the consequences that as
(01:46:08):
even said, I wish you know. At the same time,
I wish I would do a little less of him
once we found out about him that he's Emperor Drake,
that's all. He's good bet to me now, so.
Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
Rake a minor.
Speaker 1 (01:46:24):
Emperor heard that's kind of how they were back then too,
So you can't I can't knock it for it being
somewhat accurate.
Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
That's another thing you can say about it. It is
it is time. It is time accurate for seventeen hundreds
Imperial China, which is that's effectively what it is, even
if you want to go in Perial Japan. It is
time appropriate for better or worse.
Speaker 1 (01:46:52):
Yeah, I'm still fan of music. Is still visually pretty soundtrack.
I like that they're trying to show a bit more
human side with man Out with Jallan and Shoe, I
turned like like maybe she could have friends, maybe she
could doesn't work out and you get to see it right,
and I get Okay, while you're mad about the kids,
(01:47:14):
just stay dead. I agree, But with how they've been
hyping up.
Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wasn't mad about it. I was.
Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
Continue dangle stakes in front of me. Bro can't stand
dangle steaks.
Speaker 1 (01:47:30):
I agree, maybe yes they should have stayed dead, but
at the same time they've been hyping up this resurrection
medicine that they had to do it. I was like,
all right, well, I don't have to see it again.
We're good. He showed it it could be done. Go away.
Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:47:49):
I liked the conclusion of lu Land of how she
broke free from whether if they meant like that, that
side of her had to.
Speaker 2 (01:47:57):
Go mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (01:47:59):
But you know, yes, I'm not. I am no longer dead,
but now I enjoyed it. It is number one. I
wish I had by other stuff too, but I liked it.
I liked for what we got. I like season one,
and so they're about the same. I don't like one
better than the other. I liked them for different reasons.
(01:48:21):
But the per Seeds would just explored more so, I
like so it's good.
Speaker 2 (01:48:26):
Is good for that?
Speaker 1 (01:48:28):
However, they're gonna do the sequel and looking forward to it.
This is this is definitely one that they were probably
gonna keep going until the show's over. When is that
gonna be? I don't know, but laws I have enough
material to make it going. I'm just gonna be sitting
right there just watch.
Speaker 2 (01:48:44):
So.
Speaker 1 (01:48:44):
Yeah, number one of Papacy.
Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
Number one would have been Anne Shirley and number two
would have been to the zero.
