Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, guys, we are back and welcome back to
part two for the Summer Awards, where this time reveal
our top ten for the summer. But before that also
we got some honorable mentions to talk about. So, guys,
we had a hell of a summer, did we not?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Indeed, indeed we.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Did stressful, a lot of good shows, some bad ones,
we had a lot everything in between. But it was
a big list. For most of us we were able
to pull through. Thank you all that we're able to
swap into replace either of us or both of us. No,
(00:48):
I'm happy, great crew, and Paul is going to be delightful.
And before we start, as always, we like to do
our honorable mentions, but with our new concept, we say
our three honorable mentions. By the time still Chris will
say his three, then his starm will do his, and
Ethan and myself before we do our actual top ten.
(01:10):
So with that, guys, are you ready, yes? Alrighty thirteen
to eleven are honorable mentions that did not make it
to the top ten because we cannot put everyone in
our top ten. So this is how we do it.
So Chris, your three honorable mentions.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
My top three honorable mentions, We're going with Rascal for
number thirteen, New Saga for number twelve, eleven test for
number eleven, which ones a Rascal New Saga and clev tists.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
My Heart, My Heart.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
It was good, It was good. I just had a
lot of shows that I like.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
That's fair, that's fair, I guess, okay for my three
I have at thirteen. Cadu number eight gave it three
point five out of five. Number twelve, Sheill Hero season
four three point five. Yes, Sheer Hero Heroes better than
(02:28):
Cadre number eight, I'm gonna say it. And number eleven
My Dress Up Darling. It didn't. It came so close
to cracking the top ten, but the story went nowhere
other than just a nice little slice of life. Like
they didn't. I realized I showed up for like the relationship,
the bubbling, like there was nothing memorable about this season.
There was not. There was not one moment that it's
(02:50):
living rent free in my mind from season two of
My Dress Up Darling. But I will say I gave
Sheer Hero season four three point five out of five,
and I also gave My Dress Up Darling. Considering it
didn't crack the top ten, it got a four out
of five, though it's still.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I wow.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
Yeah, got four out of five. It just didn't crack
the top ten.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Yeah that's pretty much.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Yeah, that's solid heat in my top ten heat. I too,
but okay, four out of five that didn't crack the
top ten. Yeah, bro in a second, I get to
in a second.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
All right, number thirteen for me, I've got witch Watch.
I gave that a three and a half out of five.
I laughed for a good portion of the season, but
it was never one of those shows that I was
really in love with Sean. The point I wanted to
make that I'm carrying over from the last recording is
the fact that you had mentioned about the ram aspect,
how it's like touched, but it's not really. It's not
really a rom and I think it's a it's that's
(03:52):
not the entire purpose of the show, which is fine,
but it's very one sided, which kind of irks me.
You have Nico just in with Moy, and Moy is oblivious,
and not only oblivious, it's he's stoic about it. There's
no indication whatsoever that this is gonna blossom. We all
know eventually does because that's what anime does, but there's
(04:12):
nothing to it, and so I care more about Nimu
and fucking uh and Wolf. Then I really care about
fucking Uh. I care about what's it called, Nico and MOI. So,
but I still enjoyed the callbacks and the things that
it did through the first half. Mostly I agree with Chris.
(04:32):
It was never a fan of season two as Earth
Part two as I was compared to Part one. So
three and a half out of five for which watch
number twelve for me, Rascal does not Dream of Santa Claus.
I really wanted to put this, really wanted to put
this at in my ten, but with everything else that
I loved more, I couldn't justify it. I felt like
there was intrigue. I felt the stakes were relatively high,
(04:56):
but again there's they get through the points and that's fine,
But the earlier stories of the earlier stories of puberty
syndrome bear no significance to the overarching story. And then
even at the finale, the overarching story is taken care of,
(05:17):
it seems relatively like disappointing, Like it was nice. It
was a nice button up, but it wasn't like tremendous.
In the finale, and then it opens up more questions.
I believe it's in the after credit of how does
Showco still impact this world? It's clear Showco now after
that after credit. I don't know if you want me
(05:38):
to mention it further. You never finished the seawn. Do
you care of what if I talk about Showco on
the after credit for the finale finale? What rascal?
Speaker 5 (05:49):
I mean? No, I go ahead, bro that I know
a new movie coming out.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
So I mean it's clear that they make it seem
that Showco is the impetus for puberty syndrome because they
constantly tea her, constantly tease Soakata seeing her in various
places throughout Tokyo, even though that story seemingly has been
resolved since the end of the first movie. But why
do they do that? And what is the significance? It
(06:13):
adds more questions and I think devalues the overarching story
that this tried to tell. I still enjoyed it, but
I felt this was a little bit of a disappointment
for me. So I also gave this. I gave this
a three point I gave it a three point five.
This is also a three point five. Number eleven for
me was my Dress Up Darling season two. Much to
your point, Sean, it really went nowhere. It was nice
(06:35):
to have Marn and Gojo back. They're always lovely to
see on screen. It's always a fun show, always enjoyable.
But compared to everything else that's in the ten, nothing
of significance truly happened. It doesn't come close to season
one in my opinion, and there was a lot that
was left on the table truth be told as it
relates to Dress Up Darling. So it was fun. I
(06:56):
enjoyed it, but wasn't impressed. Another three and a half
out of.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Five, okay u thirteen Dressed Up Darling season two. I yeah,
it felt like a big Duffenberger except for I think
the one that really had growth was Gojo and then
just a side characters. Marn not as much so. The
only time was oh, she gained like five pounds. That
(07:20):
was really still attached me. She's ever had Number twelve
Doctor Stone Science Futures. Look, the last few episodes were great,
but this stuff before that, it was just it's just
okay to me like that. Those three or so don't
(07:42):
make up a good chuck of the season for me
to put it on my top ten. I still liked it,
but I liked everything else was a little bit better.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
I feel Matt got his pay beat.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, I told you i'd tag it back.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Yeah, you got me back.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
God, I ain't see that coming.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Ship Number eleven Hanka Coon Season two, Part two. I
like part two a lot better than part one. Everyone
got involved, everyone had a purpose. We get that nice
little cliffhanger to find out what if we're gonna get
a season three. I hope we do, but no, it
(08:22):
wasn't enough for me to make it to the top ten.
And mind you, those two were fours, so there you go, like,
I can't hit everything, so something has to go.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I didn't get a four until nine.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
Ye look at you trying to be straight? Which oh
fours the development.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
So I didn't get four through nine or fours, and
then I only had the two fives at one and two.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
And I still have zero thoughts. So all right, number ten, Chris.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
All right, Uh, I'm going with uh A good old
classic of Paul of the Nine Season two.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
I really enjoyed the.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Good old budding relationship of Coe and Nazna.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
The the way they handled her backstory was great, and
her relationship to Forgot her Dame and the good old
singer at the end with hey, are we gonna go
back to? Are we gonna have a season three? I
don't know, you guys know the tropes. We might it's
the fifty to fifty was was pretty fun. So yeah,
(09:40):
uh Paul nineteen two, all right, all right.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
All right?
Speaker 5 (09:48):
The number two I have here Saturday Morning Serotonin, a
broom of blushed and emotional damage. Witch Watch. I'm giving
it a four out of five. Charming, delightfully wholesome. The
humor carrit the series. Even though the finale felt like
filler and lacked the payoff, it was still a good anime.
(10:11):
It had anime within the anime, and I will say
the seriousness of part one of which Watch really carried
season two, which kind of fell off a little bit.
So that's why I was further down my list. But
the chemistry and lighthearted tone makes it for an easy,
comforting watch. It's really super cute, nice. There's so many
characters to put from that you love. They added new
(10:32):
characters and the show just never stopped being fun. I
just felt like it lost I feel like it just
kind of lost some of its charm. Everything just started
to feel repetitive when you got to the second part.
I stilled over the four out to five because it
was like, when it was good, it was great, but
when it was ay, it was it was.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Man.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
I want to give you a point before we continue.
Sean on something I had written in my in my
review as a relater to watch, because I think, to
your point, fine, where the hell it is? Give me
two seconds. I'm sorry you're looking.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I'm gonna give my reason why I didn't like season
two of which watch because it wasn't just like what
you thought it was.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
It was season one had plot.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Season two felt more like, oh, we're gonna give you
like a couple of new characters, and then here's a
bunch of fucking filler that doesn't actually go anywhere, have
anything to do with the.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Story, but it kind of gives you like a gag.
It's kind of gag in essence.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
Yeah, but like season one still had.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Gag, but it also they had that plot. They got
serious at the end of this one. They just repeated
like they just repeated a whole sequence from the first
season when the guy was at school that was trying
to find out who was it. It felt for me like,
wait a minute, I feel like I've seen this before.
Like I said, season whitch Watch as a whole since
they split it into two parts instead of like two seasons.
(11:58):
That's season one is the reason why, so four Season
one is why this was four because A three at
three and a half just didn't really feel to write.
But I honestly almost settle on a Only thing is
I like Witchwatch more than I like in My dress
Up Darling. But that's because witch Watch had more episodes.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Yeah, honestly, I wanted to put me Codona at thirteen,
but it didn't feel right considering I enjoyed witch Watch,
especially in the first half, which is why I gave
it the point I wanted to make in terms of Witchwatch,
why I gave it a three and a half. You
guys talk about the plot. I agree the plot existed
in part one. However, my point that I had made
and I'll read it verbatim. Another thing that bothered me
is the weakness of all the bad guys in the season.
(12:39):
Though the characters do face danger and precarious situations, the
show does not provide the real sense that stakes are
truly on the line. To really invest in any of
the bad guys' stories, the characters have to overcome.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
I agree, but I think that's a manga issue that's
not an anime issue. I try to remember that usually
anime is typically secure what the manga has already told
you it's gonna happen, And sometimes it's the issue is
the manga. It's like the animated everything right it was
supposed to. It's the mangaka who decided, hey, this is
the story like that one on the anime.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
We're gonna in between your fucking like serious.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
But you know another thing, ethan, they did explain why
Moy is so stoic during season two, which is like
one of the major like yeah good parts of the
season two. Uh Nico fucked up and gave him a
spell that made him only look at her as a price.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Yeah that's and that was one of the other points
I made in my in my review, I was like,
it really just feels like Moy looks at her as
like the doting He's like he actually the doting older
brother and looks at her as like the cute little sister.
And of course it's anime, they're gonna overcome that.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
He really cares about her, and that's.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Fine, but I'm not invested.
Speaker 5 (13:58):
I mean, I am. I like, I like it's like
you can choose from that relationship, which is cool. Then
you have Neimu and Wolf's relationship that it doesn't matter
because it's in the show. It's like because they're not
the main character. It's like, just because they're not the
main character, that's It's like Bleach. It's like Bleach. You
know what, ma Bleach good. It's like it's like someone
(14:19):
saying man like like Yodoish is awesome, and you know
what I'm saying, But why isn't she Why can't Ruko
be as cool as yodo Ishi? And it's like, bro,
the cool thing about Bleach is you get to pick
anybody and like them. Which watch you? You don't have
to fun over the main characters love life. I like that.
We know, I like.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
My favorite on the show.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
So but no, no, no, no, which watch which watch? They
did good? When they did it. I don't want to
stay on there too long. But I enjoyed season two.
I just enjoyed season one like a lot more.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Just the comedy. I just enjoy the comedy anyway. Sorry
Mac turn oh it is my turn for number ten. Yeah, yeah,
even think about that number ten, and it purely because
I liked everything else more. I put my comedy Disease
and Detectives These Days Are Crazy Again. It's similar to
Witchwatch in terms of callbacks. This is a true gag comedy,
(15:13):
and it's one of the few gag comedies that I enjoy.
There is no plot to this other than you have
the broken down old man, the high school girl assistant
that has crazy gorilla strength, and they're perpetually poor and
getting into fucking high jinks. The side characters are fun,
and you know their moments throughout the season are all
just random as fuck, but always land and I enjoyed
(15:35):
the humor more than witch Watch. Honestly, if I were
to pick between Witchwatch and Detectives These Days Are Crazy?
Which Watch Part one? I would pick Which Watch Part one?
But if I'm grading it as a whole, Detectives landed
with only their twelve episodes, while witch Watch, in my opinion,
as we mentioned, was downgraded because of the weaker part two,
but nonetheless I still enjoyed the comedy. I'd also pick
(15:57):
Witchwatch in my comedy, so I couldn't have picked it
anyway even if I wanted. But the textas days are crazy,
it's just funny. Throughout the season, I was hooked, like
I said, from episode one when she pulled the fucking
bazooka out of her fucking bra and just blew some
shit up and killed an entire fucking Yakuza corporation over
a misunderstanding thinking that they were fucking bees instead of
(16:18):
actually going to take down a beehive. That shit was funny,
And then throughout the season just their their situations were great.
The comedy itself also was really really really funny. Sorry
another comedy. The animation. The animation made some of the
comedy as well, in terms of like the way that
they drew some of the characters random as fucked but
really detailed and really funny. But realistically, I only gave this.
(16:42):
I think I gave this a three point seven five.
I got a double confirm whether I did that or
a four. But I want to say I get but
a three point seven to five out of five. So
I enjoyed it, just I enjoyed nine through one better.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
This one. This one's a little hard. Number two one
Secrets of the Silent witch m. I enjoyed it, no
great fantasy, love the characters. I did want a little
more like the plot like in the middle of this.
Like in the middle of it, it felt like a
little cutter, except for like the betrayal of one of
the friends and all that. All that was really nice.
(17:18):
But yeah, but I just want this to be season two.
I don't want to be just a one and done
type of things. I thought there's so much more to tell,
and I could tell it could be so much better.
But outside of that, I still enjoyed it. I had
a lot of fun. I don't regret it. I would
still recommend it to people they want a fantasy that's
not DCUI, I will tell them, we'll definitely check this out,
especially if you are fans about your rock as well.
(17:40):
On top of that, so yeah, Number ten for me
Secrets of the Sandwich, all right, Number nine, Chris My.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Number nine is Tommy Sabaki City under Construction.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
As I mentioned, four cute, fucking interesting, uh uh series
about a bunch of witches who sing well familiars.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
It's based off the game and.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Uh what really like sold this on me besides the
music aspect, because it was all great, just like how
sort of fucked up this world is, like, Uh, turns
out it's just like some weird simulation that gets fucking
reset over and over because this one dude is like,
hey fuck uh fuck people, and it gets like pretty
(18:32):
bad for the characters, uh, where they lose, and then
their consciousness is sent to the real world where they
get to where they watch themselves but not really like
perform on stage.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
And that was pretty fucking cool because it was actually.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Like the act like it was in actual Japan, and
then they were at a fucking concert watching the like
the holograms like sing and dance do all that ship.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
It was really interesting.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
It's not higher because like the plot was sort of
a little all over the place, but like I enjoyed
it for what it was.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
Okay, all right, man, I have peaked that by assassin
energy somehow an ex assassin doesn't kill but kills it.
I'm talking about Soccamoto days. I gave it a four
out of five. It was a massive, massive improvement of
Part one in every single way. The pacing, the animation,
(19:31):
the humor all clicked this time around. It was sharp,
it was confident, it was redisious, it was ridiculously fun.
Season two can't come fast enough? Like Season like Part two,
like it. It summed up exactly what my initial issue
was was, Like, Bro, this should have just ran consistently.
Shouldn't have been no, should have been just been Socamoto
(19:52):
Days Season one two like I like how it was
just twenty four episodes of adult anime.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Like it.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
The nineties retro vibe is really what put it over
the top, like the early two thousands animation style Chef Kiss.
So yeah. Soccomodel Day is number nine with a four
out of five.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
All right, good right, all right, good. My number nine, Matt,
is not too far from your number ten. I picked
both you which as my number nine, and you said
a lot what I was gonna say. But I want
to encapsulate it more in terms of my review, I'm
gonna read you all briefly. The second paragraph to my
review for this shouldn't take too long. The show is
unique and that our MC can be classified as being
(20:35):
potentially special needs, high functioning, autistic, neurodivergent, or in idiosavant.
She is insanely brilliant, but has that inability to have
human interaction. She could also be classified as someone who
just has severe PTSD due to her trauma as well,
but nonetheless the character seems very unique from other characters
viewers may have seen it in past anime who have
trouble interacting with others normally. As far for the plot.
(20:57):
As for the plot of the show, it's fairly solid.
There's emphasis on who exactly is attempting to assassinate the
Prince throughout the season, but I felt that fell into
an overarching plot point, as the true plot point of
the show is seeing Monica grow throughout a friendless girl.
She learns to be better with public speaking and humor
and human interactions throughout the season, and then the process
(21:19):
develops a universe of important people to her. Each of
the side characters are critical to her development, but less
so the overall plot at this stage, I don't know
if that encompasses. I guess kind of more of what
you were saying, Matt, But yeah, I do think at
the end of the day, when you look at which
watch you look for that development with Monica, who you know,
(21:41):
depending on who you are, you may like her, you
may not. I didn't like her at first.
Speaker 6 (21:45):
I thought it was annoying, and then throughout the season,
it became a really solid protagonist by the end, and
I think what you would like your point, Matt, is
to see more, especially the magic, because when they do
the magic, when you see Monica go all out, it
is fucking next world amazing, and I want to see
more of that.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
I want to see maybe more interactions from some of
the other important side characters. Seeing them have to be
maybe some sort of battle or something along those lines,
as long as it's effectively.
Speaker 7 (22:14):
Like given reason, one of the best scenes of magic
obviously is in the garden scene, and we have to
basically fucking de code.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Things and the battle.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
I thought that was one of the most incredible parts
of the season, and I would like to see more
of that. But theneth the last I enjoyed Secrets of
This Island were very much looking forward to an eventual
I pray they bring it back for.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Very good No. I like that. Number nine for me
is also the Saclamoo Days part two days. No, I
love this a lot more than part one. If it
was a continuous thing, it's sort of been higher on
my list somewhere like in the spring. Essentially that I
(22:59):
would have to continuous core, great action great jokes with
the animation. I like the I like the chemistry of
the villains, like they're they share at the same time
they are funny, like they are essentially funny with how
they are together, like here's a company player, here's the
benefits one just playing VR while control of the other
(23:19):
person's like.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
And deer Head the whole time.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yep, I love it. No, I love all the characters,
love everything about it. Can't wait for can we season two?
I know they're gonna focus on the live action first
before we get a season two, so I'm definitely gonna
check that out when that comes out first. But no,
I'm excited. So yeah, number nine talking about today as
part two? All right, number eight, Chris.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
I finally got to put this on my list, and
it's a lot lower than it originally was back in
the first half.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Uh, Choopy hero x.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
It.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
Yeah, I mean it did a lot better than with
like the final episode, but like, man, it really sucked
to have the fucking trust system not make any sense
half the time and have the timeline like go all
over the place. It's so great starting off with like
(24:26):
basically the end of the story, uh, and then ending
off with right like, uh, right after that. I enjoyed
the characters, I enjoyed the world. It's just like it
felt like the building well yeah, the world building was
all over the place and like they couldn't like stick
(24:48):
with their defined definitions that they had with in the beginning.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Of the show.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Right.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Also the lack of switching between three D and two
the animation throughout, like asked the second or past fucking
uh East Soul was disappointed.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Well, and well, now we know why it happens. It's
because of actually find out why later. But yeah, didn't
know that the other ones know that. It would have
been like all the other ones happened before actions or
like around around everything. Yeah, all right, Chris start man
number eight.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
All right, man, my number eight. You guys ready for
this one? All right? Fifteen years later and it's still
while like adults swim baptized on holy water and glitter,
I'm talking about panty and stocking four out five. I
gave panting and stocking foriter five. It's not as funny
as season one, but I think they had more to
do with the fact that was shot value. I've never
(25:51):
seen an anime like that that talked like that and
it had a different cast, and I really think that
the original cast carried a lot of the original comedy.
But the new cast did show up and it was
They were really good. It was far more daring, It
was more creative. It was visually experimental. Uh, it was bold.
(26:11):
It was modernized chaos, and it didn't lose its edge.
It was messy, it was horny, it was hilarious. It
was weirdly beautiful. So yeah, man, that's why I gave
new Panty and Stocking with guard belt U and Brief
and Chuck a fire to five.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Even number eight for me, was a show that peaked
at number three or maybe number two at some point,
was never going to be number one, and over the
course of the season died down with a tremendous force.
It is Kaiju number eight season two is my number eights.
Not much more can be said compared to what we've
said over the last three and a half hours. But
when it boils on to it, when we got the action,
(26:53):
the action was fire, but most of the episodes and
the season felt more like a hasher A training arc.
I didn't hate the hasta the arc, which is why
I still rated it in my ten So I didn't
hate the training arc with Kaijui. Number eight, but compared
to season one and how amazing season one was, season
two felt a little bit like a disappointment to me.
But nonetheless I still look forward to season three and
(27:15):
look forward to seeing the continuation. Matt, I do agree.
They do leave you kind of blue balled with that
finale in terms of cutting it off mid battle. They
think it's like.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
It was starting to get interested again and they just
cut it, and they.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Just cut it, so it's it's a blue ball. But
either way, Yeah, I'm simple minded, So anything that involves
crazy action, like the type of Kaiju presents always gonna
rank on my list. It just this season ranked a
lot lower because I think when season one came out,
I think I ranked the number one or number two.
So season two was a number eight, still minimal, four
(27:47):
out of five. Still enjoyed it, Still looking forward to
season three whenever that happens.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Okay, number eight for me. The summer Hikaru die.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
Wow, it's kind of low.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
I'm saying, Nah.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
They they're good, but they're good. With the horror. I
wanted to know more about the shrine, about the thing
that's in hic in Hikarra. We got some of it
by kind of want and a little bit more of it,
but since we got season two, it does make sense.
You don't have it all right away. Yes, it is
a gay anime, but the way they are doing it,
it's not the main it's not the main focus of it.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
It's hardly focused. Which I'll talk.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
About that that and I'm fine with that.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I'll talk about it later. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
So I got like, like, like, we know it is there,
It's just it's subtle.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
It's they're taking their time with it. They're not treating
like it's a romance anime.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
It's just Yoshiki, the head of Crush in the cau
before Kra died but now As has taken over him.
Good job with the horror the visual effects of its Uh,
there's a little bit of a creepy undertone with it.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
The sweet old lady that I was like, that's like
helping them out. Who dealt with this, like with her
son and husband type of thing. I like her. I
want to get to know more about the blind paranormal
investigator type. I want to know more about certain people
but against this regardin of season two, I think we
will get that. But sold, Star, I'm not upset with it.
(29:26):
I so I welcome season two. O. Yeah, Car died
all right, number seven, Chris, My number seven is boch
the way it was originally ten.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
But no, I was just like the name bot do it?
Speaker 3 (29:50):
I called it apparently yes I I it was number
ten for me, but that last episode just sold it
for like, yeah, this this deserves some more fucking phrase.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
And or it deserves more points than like.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
I originally had like give before because like it it
like finally showed but uh, okay, Car fucking Monica. It
finally showed Monica, like what she's like when she lets
her guard down, where she opens up, and it was nice.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
It was nice to just like.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Get to see the real Monica before, like she without
any of her like nervousness.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
M right, okay, starman, all right.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
The next one I have is should have been an
epic movie. Thank god, it would have been epic. It
was gorgeous, hey, yas with the heart that I didn't know,
a heart that didn't know what it wanted. I'm talking
about clevitis. Clevitists was a four out of five, it
was the sleeperhead of the season. I say this is
(31:10):
because it was excellent action animation. It was a strong concept.
Biggest flaw, if not the only flaw, it's sometimes it
lost itself in its pacing, like the way the art
kind of jumps from It does that thing in anime
where once you wrap up one arc, it doesn't breathe
(31:31):
before the next art comes. But it just kind of
feels like damn. Everywhere I'll go it's trouble. And then
when you get to the finale, it's like, since they
didn't breathe, it's like, damn, we already at the finale.
They packed so much into those thirteen episodes, which I
can really appreciate, but I guess that's why it's frustrated
when sometimes the was like they're building a plot, they're building.
(31:53):
They didn't build the entire world view of these characters.
They didn't go on too epic journey like Free. You know,
it's pretty much a, uh, we're going from A to B.
We're gonna run into some badness. Let's kill them. We're
gonna run into this, Let's fight them. These bad guys
are gonna stop, Let's fight them. Here's the big bad Guy.
You meet the Big bad Guy episode eight, and then
(32:14):
they take four episodes to really get to the action.
Oh my god, when they got to that fight, I
was I was entertained. I was entertained. They really they
really went in. But yeah, yeah, man, it occasionally wobbled,
but the ambition and the storytelling made it of delight. Man.
So four out of five at number seven, Clevitists is
(32:34):
a go watch that. Like Clevertest, it could have been.
It could have been a ten if they would have,
like really wanted it to. But I'm so excited for
season two. Like season two, it's like they're gonna switch
up the whole anime vibe. They're gonna they're gonna go
for a completely different anime vibe and season two so
I'm wondering how they're gonna go from action, adventure fantasy
(32:56):
to I can't spoil it, but you'll see. Chris knows
what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Yeah, me and Matt put it on our list, So
you did a good job selling into us. Yeah awesome,
E got Chris before I continue. You didn't put lesbian
anime in any of your thirteen digit.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
I didn't watch I thought I was the only one.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Who watched lesbian anime.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Okay, it was on my list originally, but I never
got to be able to watch it because I had
a lot of other things.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Okay, okay, is that your number seven? It is my
number seven, And I'm doing I don't know if you
guys have noticed. Rather than speeling off the top like
I tend to do and then I tend to ramble,
I'm actually just going ahead and reading parts of my
anime reviews to you, guys, because it's more concise, and
I've actually put more like thought and had time to
put more thought in this. So I'm gonna read you
(33:45):
two paragraphs from this. Shouldn't take too long. The negative
about this show is sometimes the girls can be a
bit too much, and Renicko is somewhat of a push pushover.
For most of the season, she accepts certain positions she
ends up in and most of the time doesn't firmly
establish the boundaries the show hints she desires. That said,
though I was blown away by the lesbian dynamic and
(34:05):
overall plot of the show. Renicko, who has never been
a beacon amongst anyone, becomes a magnet to each of
the girls. Each girl opens themselves up to her naturally,
simply because they know how kind hearted she is and
she has no ill intentions with any of them. From
a romantic aspect, each girl feels comfort and ease around
her and Reniko, without even trying, manages to make them
(34:25):
all weak to her natural personality. The show has plenty
of sexually suggestive moments in PDA, but none of the
scenes are over the top or grossly inappropriate. Each of
those etchy scenes help advance the dynamic between the girls
and does not distract either from the overall story nor
the gravity of the romantic moment. The show also helps
each girl grow into a better woman, with Reniko leading
(34:47):
the charge. Elsewhere, the show does a good job of
exploring the principle of any person with burgeoning romantic feelings,
as well as highlighting some of the difficulties of being
physically and emotionally experimental with the same sex. Throughout the series, Renico,
who was unshre sure how relationships and feelings work, maintains
she does not want to force relationship with any of
the girls, but slowly sees her feelings and physical attractions
(35:08):
become swayed towards them at various times and at various degrees,
but all those moments again come natural and are integrated seamlessly,
as if the principle of same sex love does not
matter compared to what the true end goal should and
will be. I said this on plenty of episodes that
I was on this season, for the few that I
was that I genuinely feel this is probably the best
(35:30):
Yuri I think I've probably ever seen. I'm certain that
there are other urias that you guys have seen that
are probably better, and would agree eventually whenever I get
to those. But for my limited like yaouie Yuri like viewing,
I was thoroughly happy with this show. I squealed at
various points, I laughed at various points. Musical composition is
(35:51):
very understated, the animation simple, not world beating, but it's
not bad at all. Each of the girls is likable
despite the fact that they can be over the top,
and I just enjoyed the principle. And I think they
also set up a season two if they do bring
it back quite well, and I very much look forward
to it. The show, as you, as I've said in
(36:14):
the past, is also unique in the fact that it
was widely available on YouTube. Originally it was supposed to
be a limited release where they keep it up for
like one or two weeks, and then the demand at
least was so high they kept up all the episodes
for the entire season. I don't know if that's how
it stands now, but I would encourage anyone who's curious
about Urianime and curious about what I've said in this
review to go and check it out, because I definitely
(36:36):
think that you will be happy watching the show. Easy
four out of five for me.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
All right, number seven. If this ed didn't spring, this
would have been a lot higher to be hero x.
I love the action. I do agree with the issue
of the trust value being kind of glossed over after
the first half and all of a sudden, the fear
(37:07):
factor side of it, it felt like a force thing
to put in, Like near the end of the season
and the christ point, it could be over the place
if you don't know the stories do connect, but you
wouldn't get that through the first part. Those complaints inside,
I love it still, I still very much enjoy it.
(37:28):
I love these heroes. Ghost Plade probably had the best arc,
and if We're gonna go episodic. It was definitely a
ghost place X were a hero. We don't see it much,
but it's the short and sweet but instill impactful. I
liked that a lot of these heers Big Johnny's stories
also tragic. Queen's great, Like I say, a commoner or
(37:50):
nice and nice story going full circle from the d
end to the end. That all work. All this stuff
does work. And I love the fights too. On top
of him fluid, It's smooth. Whether it's two D or
free D, it all works perfectly.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
If you are into a superhero show, this, this is
one I highly recommend. Uh is it is it place
altte here? Sure? But you know what, it's still a
great It's still a great fucking show. Check it out
like there's there's look even just even just look up
the fights to make you want to watch it.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
I highly recommend just look at the preview from two
years ago.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
They look at the pref two years ago, or watch
a Queen versus Moa. That's a fantastic fight, along with
the evers, soul experts everyone you got all of those.
So yeah, still check it out to be here at
number seven all right? Uh, number six, Chris, Oh.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Okay, we're getting up to the like, okay, yeah, this
is where this is on my life.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Uh, number six is uh nighted living cat.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
As I said, as I said before in my comedy,
this child has no fucking reason to be this fucking funny,
this or good. Uh uh fucking the fact that, oh yes,
we're having a double N virus pathogen which affects cats
to start the nandemic.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
Catastrophe is just fucking stupid, and I love it.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
The characters were while some were like ridiculous with their
fucking ah man protect cats even though they could fucking
like kill us all Uh was just like a little.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Too over the top.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
And I do wish that there was a extremist group
because apparently only.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Like all the humanity look has a cat.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
There should be like some that like, oh man, no,
dogs are fucking better kill the cat. There was none
of that, but maybe if there's a season two we
can get something like that.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
The pot twist at the end fucking Granny's Farewell Tour
was fucking great.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
It was just I enjoyed this.
Speaker 5 (40:05):
All right, star man, all right man, what I have
for you for six is still not turned still seductive.
The only anime that makes Insomniac look romantic, Yes Ethan
the only anime that makes his somnia.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
This guy didn't watch Insomniacs after school.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
I did.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
Oh yeah, I didn't like it. Compared to like.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
I'm talking about Call of the Night season two, it's
almost as good as the first season. The season deepened
Nozma's backstory. It added layers of mystery that unfortunately never
really paid off because they left us with more questions
after they gave us the reveals. It's just too many
questions from my answered, and removing the main villain from
(40:56):
the finale just kind of felt like they robbed us
of any danger, threat or any stakes that were really involved.
I really expected something more epic when it came down
to the battle because Nasena got washed. Nasena gets washed
and she kind of like loses her nerve because she
really doesn't want to hurt her friends, so she doesn't
(41:16):
go all out, and then kogets When when kgets shot,
it's like, yo, is he gonna die? Is he gonna turn?
And when the next episode comes on, it's like, yeah,
he turned for like a second, and that's how he heal.
But We're not gonna explain if he is or he's not.
We're not gonna even tell you if you're gonna get
(41:38):
a season three. Matter of fact, we're gonna call the
last episode the title of the show. And that is
never a good sign that you're getting another season, because
it's like, why would you do that? So they left
us on the cliffhanger. Don't know what's gonna happen. They
removed the villain. We don't know who Nasen's father is.
We don't know who attack Nazena when she was tracking
(41:59):
old girl down. It's co gunna turn. What's gonna happen
to his friend and that relationship with that vampire that
he has so many questions left un answer? Is why
I couldn't rate this higher than four o five But
still still still this show has so much. The soundtrack
is dope, the opening and dope. The music is dope.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
It's you may be switched by six and seven. I
put this I'll get to the bed.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
But I put this high, and I it made a
lot of sense to demote this to a four and.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
So that wasn't my.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
Four five instead of five.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
That these were the same grades, so they were a
flip and flop. But that's how I talked about it
a little better than Call.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
The night I had this high, I'm gonna I'm gonna
stick to my guns and leave it there, but I
am going to demote it from a five star to
a four star if you've convinced me so now I
have only one five star anime. I think you guys
know what it is.
Speaker 5 (43:04):
That was not my intention, but it's just like really
a show.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Tonight has been a show where I've made a lot
of switches. I made I think officially three uh three
or four. I think it was three word switches. I've moved,
as you eight because of what you guys said, And
now I'm gonna leave Call where it is. But I've
demoted it from being a five star to being a four,
(43:33):
and it makes all the sense I'm not. I'm not
for those who are listening. I'm not trying to dick
ride or I'm not trying to like you know, like
yeah whatever, like no, like these like the logic involved.
And I hope people realize this at home that whenever
we say these things, it's funny to us, but we're
not doing this because you know, we're like we're trying
to ride each other. Like yo, Like these are logical
aspects that we sometimes don't think or are blind to,
(43:56):
and when they come up in conversation, you pause and
you're like, yeah, that makes a lot of fucking sense.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Yeah, it's a lot of sense. So what's your number? Six?
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Number six is a show that I gushed about. Is
a show I gushed about earlier in the recording, and
that is bethrowed to my sister's ex And I'm going
to read to another two paragraphs of this, and I'm
going to give insight when I get to early on
in the first paragraph. The plot of the show is
one of the richest of the season in my opinion. Effectively,
(44:31):
this is what Cinderella would be if it was given
a twelve episode anime. Marie is the Cinderella of this story.
Abused both physically and mentally, she is treated as if
nothing but a slave. Because of this, Kiro has to
undo a lifetime's worth of PTSD and trauma over the
course of the season. It is a long road full
of depressing moments, but in the end, the show gives
us one of the strongest conclusions in payoffs this season.
(44:53):
As the show gives the reviewer more reveals. We learned
the show as underlying tones of racism and stereotyping, where
I'll Paul, I'm sorry, I'll pause at the end of
the sentence, and that the consequences of what those ugly
feelings bring. I'm gonna pause and give you context. In
terms of the show and the finale, we learn we
see it throughout the season that Marie's mother has always
had blonde hair, her father has had blonde hair, her
(45:14):
sister has blonde hair. She's the only woman that has
red hair. Her mother is the most abusive out of
them all and always talks about her hair. Your your
bad Your hairy red hair is bad luck. You know
you are a failure. You're you cause the death of
our of our patron mother. You cause the death of
your sister. You fucking disgusting human being. Blase a bunch
(45:39):
of insults, And in the finale we learn that two things. One,
the father's racist because he doesn't like foreign languages, despite
the fact that as a noble he's required to know
these foreign languages, and he hates foreign people. B The
mom is racist because we come to find out when
she's shoved by her second, by her younger or this
(46:00):
daughter who she thinks is dead. It reveals that she
has a wig on and she's the one who has
red hair. Hence why Marie has red hair, and we
see and we come to understand why she is so
like against people with red hair is that she has
an inner disgust with herself because she has the red hair,
(46:21):
and she has this utopian view of that the princesses
should be white, blue eyed, blonde hair. Does that sound
familiar to anybody, m And so she has this inner
disgust and she wants to be of this higher stature,
and she feels that only people that look like this
should have higher stature, and everyone that looks like that
(46:42):
is above everyone else, even though she, throughout her entire life,
as we come to find out, has been trying to
make up that make up that deficiency in herself, despite
the fact that there's nothing wrong with that. Again, I'll
continue with the rest of the paragraph as but the
principle of the fact is that our mcs are literally
(47:04):
an interracial couple is one that should be commended. Another
story of love being loved the matter color or background,
similar to my number seven with the lesbian show. The
side characters is given enough death to care about them,
and each plays an instrumental role in helping Marie overcome
her trauma and get settled into her new life. Many
of the side characters in the show are also employed
by Kiros in his manner, and all of them come
(47:24):
from different countries and are of different nationalities and backgrounds,
further promoting diversity. The animation is good, nothing amazing, but
the musical composition is great, befitting of the type of
story and world. This is the show tied up all
its loose ends perfectly and wrapped up so nicely available
on country role. This turned out to be one of
my low key sleepers of the season and earned a
four star rating. I would enhance that and I would
(47:46):
give this a four point two five, four point five
somewhere around there. But if you wish to see Cinderella
the anime, check it out. My number six.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
Okay, let's say it was Call the Night, but that's
now number seven, But I'm gonna talk about that. I'm
still gonna talk about it as if it was six.
Still the not with the backstory, it felt very pushed
(48:16):
to the back as soon as we got more about Onco,
because the whole season should have been more focused on Onco.
The stuff I probably could that should have that should
have been season three. We got season three, if I'm
perfectly honest, like it was just there. Then it's just
not talked about again, like I, oh wait, oh ship,
we're back to Onco and that's I was just such
a like, no, like go back because I cared about
I care more about that. I'm sorry, you could wait.
(48:37):
You can wait your fucking turn, Like what are you doing?
So it was just that like I just wanted more
of that. And I still like it just as much
as season one. I just wish I just wish the
soundtrack was different. I still like it, but it still
sounded to stay off like something something different in there
on top of it, like it's the same thing here
(48:58):
from season one, and that's not like give me, give
me more, like you have like two what two years
or so since season one, couldn't do like a couple
of different new songs in there somewhere. But it was
just stuff like that that I was like, Okay, I
should probably a little bit lower. I do hope we
had season three because I do want to know more
about it. It was so funny that uncle went from
(49:22):
like the main boss, you beat and you unlock her
and she's out of this d kind of funny but
still the same time. But I'm go was the highlight
for me personally for season two. The stuff, this stuff
was fine, but that could have waited. That was my
big gripe. That could have waited. But yeah, so yeah,
(49:42):
number seven called the night. Number six to be hero
es and now number five we're we're about here time.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
By the way, forty nine minutes christ number five.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
My number five is Yaiva Samurai legend. As I mentioned
before when I meant back about the adventure aspect season UH,
Seasons one and two were a good like combination of
going from a uh small time like uh right for
(50:22):
like a dude who went on a power trip after
getting possessed by a demon, to him raising like an
army taking over Japan, fucking building a fucking like mobile
fortress uh, to now having to deal with some bullshit
(50:43):
uh Queen of the Moon who wants to kidnap women
and use them to restore her eternal youth.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
The story has just been like enjoyable so far and
I didn't realize that it was well, uh, I'm not
surprised since it's made by the same person who made
the text that the characters are so enjoyable to watch
it and see them interacting.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
Okay, okay, sorry.
Speaker 5 (51:18):
Man, all right, man, we're getting down so the wirer Okay,
who knew Anna green Gable was dropped? One of the
hardest slice live adaptations of this decade?
Speaker 1 (51:30):
And shy man, are we.
Speaker 5 (51:34):
Are we twinsy? We might be twinsies? And Shirley is
uh four out of five? The Internet made me conform
to argues about like the way they did her pacing
age more particularly the the issues that I point out
is when her hair turned green and then she had
(51:57):
to cut it off and the second half of the
episode is back, but they don't explain what season, if
the season changed. I'm like, there's no way you grew
this much hair in the week, Like how much time
has passed? Like there were never clear indicators of the season,
always like sometime it was it was fall, and sometime
it was spring, a winter or summer, and they sometimes
(52:20):
it was just about about the story when it came
to that. But we saw her grow older, we saw
her love, we saw her, we do the college thing.
But when Anne became an adult, it felt like like
it felt like a different show, almost like it's still
the same show, but the tone completely shifted, which wasn't
(52:41):
a bad thing. It just it felt a little. It
felt like, Man, I don't know, I feel like maybe
this one shouldn't have been so rigidly twenty four episodes,
like maybe thirty. It just felt like maybe they could
have added a couple extra like I think maybe the
first episode should have been like forty five minutes to
our long, and then they gave us to him four episodes.
(53:02):
I think they should have did that, and then they
could have probably failed in some time.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
I'll talk about it when I talk about it.
Speaker 5 (53:08):
But yeah, yeah, twins Man and Shirley four to five
for me?
Speaker 1 (53:15):
Are you?
Speaker 2 (53:16):
I can't really talk about my number five because Sewan
hasn't seen it, and I can't really read my review
like i'd like to, because I think my review would
be kind of partial.
Speaker 5 (53:25):
And you know I will. I will not rob you
of that, my friend. Go ahead, I will be paying
attention to the screen. Give me a thumbs up when you're.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Done, all right.
Speaker 5 (53:38):
Yeah, just give me a thumbs something you're doing.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
Oh do you want to move you? I guess temporarily
or you'll still see it.
Speaker 5 (53:44):
Just I'm just I'm just sliding. I'm sliding the fader
down in three two one, You're on all right?
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Number five for me, freangrant flower ballooms with dignity. The
only thing that as two things, the principle of Netflix
stifling this show with the release schedule really annoyed me,
and I had to use the VPN in order to
make this in my thirteen and to make my review
as a whole as well as the second thing that
Chris and I discussed of how open ended it is.
But I'll eagerly anticipate the season two as I am
(54:17):
with that in mind in terms of getting that completeness
with the story of the two rivalry schools and so
forth and so on. But I think for this I'll
just read again the two paragraphs. The plot for this
show is great chalk full of misunderstandings and innocence. The
show really delivers on the wholesome message of never judging
a book by its cover, from Rentaro's appearance to the
(54:39):
rivalry between the schools and the negative misguided emotions that
students both take part in and endure. The show delivers
on the principle that all humans, for the most part,
can find common ground and in doing so, trauma and
internal barriers can be broken, and genuine human interactions can
be the foundation for new outlooks on life and new
directions for the future for the better. The love story
(55:00):
between Rentaro and Caraco is exceptionally done. A slow build,
filled with cute moments, curious discoveries, and breaking down said
barriers and changing each other for the better are the
main takeaways. Moments of confusion do not bring them down,
but rather help them understand each other and build their
friendship until it reaches an apex and we get a
wonderful climax to the show. The animation, which is Stella throughout,
(55:21):
helps guide the viewer to feel even more emotion with
emphasis on I and facial expression, and the musical composition
help those emotions reach a fever pitch with wonderful, complimentary
tones and music that perfectly encapsulate the moments of the show.
These combinations hit me at least a couple points in
the season, to the point of small tears. If you
make me cry You're gonna be high on my list.
(55:42):
I had at least a couple points where I was
stifling back tears and a car full of fucking people
that were gonna go rage at lost Lands because of
how beautiful I think fragrant Flower was done be throwed
to my sister. I enjoyed the romance better, but as
a show, Chris, I enjoyed Fragranflower Booms with dignity just
that little bit more. And this was one of the
best watches that I've seen in a while. And although
(56:04):
as I said, it didn't win my best romance of
the season, cannot argue with you. This is one of
the better romances that I have seen along would be
throwed in a very long time. Four and a half
out of five thumbs up, Chris or Sean thumbs.
Speaker 1 (56:17):
Up all right. Number five for me is Anne Shirley.
My biggest scribe is the time. It was the time
skips like with the near the end of the season,
like she skipped. We skipped a whole year of college
like she had second year with Roy and then as
(56:38):
there a graduate, they're graduated in the next I'm like, what,
like what happens?
Speaker 4 (56:44):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (56:45):
This should have been a four corps. It should have
been a four core series. They take us time. I
don't know it's gonna be any more, But there is
so much more to tell, like their wedding, what's been
doing to advance their academics, World War One, all of that.
Now we don't get to see any of that. That's
why I'm like, come on, man, like it's if you
(57:08):
want just any Gilbert. It's a nice ending, but there
is so much more to Telepan. Surely that you could
have done this season as a four core and it
would and just take their time with it, and then
I think you could have got something very special of it.
But either way, it is still one of the most
underrated animes I've seen in quite a while. Like not
(57:28):
many talk about it, but it's a special one. I
love the cyclef I love the drama. I love the characters.
They know when to talk about the heart strength, like
when Matthew died or when Ruby died, and during that
summer thing, all of that and when we thought when
when you thought Gilbert was gonna die and you got
like the conflisences that you were watching someone grow. But
(57:48):
the gaps in it just sucks. That was like the
biggest takeaway have everything. But I still really if it
was I still ready to hide in Spring, like it
would have been like either two or one with you.
There were my top two shows an Spring, but the
fact that they're low here, there's a lot of competition
and there are some issues that made it fall off.
(58:09):
So that's why An Shirley's number five. I still highly
recommend it to people, especially like that English literature type
of thing. Watch it or watch the old one. I
he I want to watch the classic one now because
of it.
Speaker 5 (58:22):
I want to if I if I ever see this play,
like if I ever see like, hey, I can go
somewhere and I can watch like the the like the drum,
the live dramazation in the theater. I'm going Yeah, I
would definitely go.
Speaker 1 (58:36):
To somebody ever there to play for like a few
years ago, this way before it moved though like that.
Speaker 5 (58:42):
Yeah yeah, like like like I just I just like
the fact anybody discussed it with it, like wait a
minute that and green Gable was like, yeah, like you
watched that, and I'm like, yeah, man, it's a good
animate and it's been adapted so many times, and I
feel like this time they best Loo can win. It
looks like something that probably would have gotten his kids
back in the late nineties.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Yeah, look at PBS or some ship. Yeah, but with
that number four, Chris.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
My number core is uh neil kitan rebirth reverse. I
did enjoy like a lot of it from what I
mentioned a lot during the night. The shows that are
above it, uh are shows that like we're a lot
(59:34):
near and dear to my heart, as I guess I
could explain. Yeah, uh my like own only like real complaints.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
Uh huh is just like I sort of wish it
could have.
Speaker 3 (59:53):
Like more seasons like evere zero, but I get it,
like better to cut like it's an original. Uh, there's
nothing that they're going off of. They don't want to
fucking like drag this out and turning the ship. Uh
so yeah, I'm okay with having this number four.
Speaker 5 (01:00:12):
Okay, sorry, all right, man, My number four I have
He's so Overpowered is basically a training art for everyone else.
I'm talking about the seven prints. Uh seven Prince Season
two was five to five. Uh, he's even more on
(01:00:34):
p It was fun, it was confident. It was even
more badass than season one. The main character battles weren't
as high stakes this time around, especially the final battle.
But the cool thing about it was you get to
see the side cast, the side characters. You get to
see the other cast shine. They were up to the shine,
up to the task. It was flashy, indulgent and exactly
(01:00:56):
really what you kind of want from this overpowered anime
because you the overpowered character, Like, it gets old real fast.
I would say, if you're a fan of One punch Man,
then you'll if you if you like, if you mix
one punch Man and and drop this reincarnation together, you
will get seven prints same. That's exactly it. It's an
(01:01:19):
overpowered character who can do magic because he was reincarnated
and he has memory, a different account and memory of
how to do magic, so he can do magic and
no one else can do and that's really what makes
him overpower. In season one, he learns so many different
forms of magic. In season two, he dares to he
(01:01:39):
joins the church as a avenue to learn divine magic,
and by the end of episode one, he's fighting an angel.
He's fighting like a servant of God, like God's soldier.
He's fighting them one on one, like, yeah, dude, I'm
finna beat your ass and take it and get you
to teach me how to do your time for magic.
(01:02:00):
And he's like, bro, you can beat me, I'll teach
you how to do divine magic. And he beats his
ass and so you know, he has an angel has
to serve him like the demon he has serving. But
the payoff is towards the end. Instead of seeing the uh,
instead of seeing you know, our main character fight, we
get all the side characters doing all the battling, all
(01:02:20):
the fighting, all the kicking ass, and most of them
are women. My favorite thing about season two is that
that etchy shouts of ship that they did in season one,
they don't do that in season two, Like they completely
cut that out, and I was so thankful. There are
no weird awkward like ankle in thigh shots, you know
(01:02:41):
what I'm saying. They don't. Yeah, they don't do the
twink thighs and season one, I mean season two, like
they cut all of.
Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
That ruins what everyone's looking for Inki.
Speaker 5 (01:02:52):
I mean twinski. Yeah, yeah, they removed all of that.
They re moved out. He still got the beady like,
he still got the feminine bead like blinky eyes went
to super own eyelashes, but his devil is smile and
he starts to like boss up in one, like just
straight up. Oh yeah, he has fun and this series
is just so much fun to watch. It's just I
(01:03:13):
didn't like the finale. But everything outside the finale, Man,
this show was almost a nine, like a four point
five out of five, but the finale fell a little short,
so I just gave it five to five.
Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Okay, Okay, you're gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
Number four. Maybe the only show, the only horror show
that I may ever watch, that I will rate this high.
We'll see how the future holds. But the highest I've
ever rated a horror show in my life, and I
don't look forward to ever trying to come up with it,
but we shall see. The summer hy Carver Died is
my number four. Okay again, It just it boils down
(01:03:55):
to just the principle of of how just it's otherworldly,
which is why I have it as I have my
surprise of the season. Just I didn't anticipate so to
love it the way I did. Again, I'll go back
to paragraph number two in my review. The show surprised
me for many reasons, the first being that this is
a horror anime which is not up my alley whatsoever. However,
(01:04:16):
as much as the horror themes are present, the show
does a fantastic job of making it feel more like
a suspenseful mystery than straight horror. In particular, the cliffhangers
the show left the viewer with almost weekly were very
solid and left the viewer clamoring for more. This was
one show I tuned into almost weekly without failure, as
I couldn't wait to see what would unfold next with
the boys in their backstory. Another reason the show surprised
(01:04:38):
me is for what it represented after doing a spoiler
free deep dive on the manga. The manga is prevalent
for teasing gay undertones throughout Those are also present, but
rather than the track from the main story, it adds
intrigue and another reason to care about the MCS beyond
just the crux of the plot. Manga readers largely viewed
this as a wonderfully adapted story of the season, which
is a major plus for the show. The musical composition
(01:05:01):
fits to creepiness that's present throughout the season, and the
animation is done quite well, with plenty of creepy and
borderline disgusting moments during some of the most tense scenes,
as well as highlighting the moments the monster in Ukara
turns into the beast and begins to rampage, oftentimes against Yoshiki.
I think that statement kind of sums up my feelings
(01:05:21):
about Hikaru again, very pleasantly surprised that I love this
the way I did. But I'm not mad, and I
hear what you guys's points are in regards to why
you may have not rated it as high as I did.
But again, simple minded and the fact that I was
so thoroughly impressed with a horror esque anime still blows
(01:05:43):
my mind. And I'm happy to leave it at four.
Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
Oh no, don't get me wrong, that's still a four
for me. I still enjoyed it as like others Betters.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
I gave it a four. Realistically, if I were to
go based solely off of my rating, I gave it
a four two five out of five, which would put
it below both Fragrant and Bethrowed. But I just I'm
gonna do that. Fuck it, I'm putting it. I'm putting it.
It'll be six be based off of the rating, but
(01:06:14):
I will say, compare to the other two. The fact
that I was just so impressed and show so shocked
that it's not a genre that I ever love. And
the fact that like I really like enjoyed it and
it was really like hell bents on watching this almost
weekly without failure. I think that's what really made me
want to put it at four. But ratings wise, I
(01:06:34):
have it at a four point twenty five. Therefore it
puts it at number six compared to Fragin, Flower and
be Thrown, which I had at a four point five.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
You can still cap it there. That's fine. M If
you enjoyed it that much, that's that's good. Happy for you.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Actually, I think if I were to recommend, I think
I'll leave it. That's fine. I'll leave it at four
due to the fact that if I were to recommend
some of the shows, I think this would probably do
better with a broader, non anime based audience, and so
I think it has more of an impact from that perspective,
(01:07:11):
So that's fine. I won't make the change that I'll
leave it at for summer. Her Carver did the.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Number four for me is Lord of the Mysteries. I
love the show, still still fantastic given four in a
quarter real complaint was the very beginning with the first
three episodes with how the Pacin was rushed. But I
get why they did it because the studio wanted a
certain fight to happen right away. But once that gout
(01:07:38):
out of the way, they slowed down. With the Pacin.
We have to learn more about the characters, the vast
world of everything going on, the great Fog, the Nighthawks,
these abilities of the seers, the great the sequences that
you learn about all this. This is not one I
could recommend to everyone. At the same time, if you
(01:07:59):
are into like the fantasy mystery aspects, like a big
that has like the Bigger Picture type of thing, then yeah,
that is how I definitely recommend. The season finale was
one of my five out of five episodes as a finale.
I love that it's so much like it was emotional
gripping Eric and I wanted as a conclusion to set
(01:08:21):
up for the grip of the Bigger Picture, because this
is something that to be over the next course of
ten years. Special is gonna be next year. Season two
is twenty twenty seven. I hope to be allowed enough
to see all of this. I am alone for the
ride there's a lot of love about it. I just
the potential is there for so much more, so I'm excited.
(01:08:42):
So yeah, number four, Lord of the Mysteries. Yeah, all right,
Number three, Chris right, three, that is tah Son.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
My number three is the shortest of the season. This
might only six episodes. It it did like everything I
hoped it would.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
All.
Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
I'm just gonna like, uh say it like the next
three they're like all of like equal value. But they
were just like what I was looking forward looking for,
uh in my like when they were like announced and
like coming out, h talk to me was just talk
to me was just fucking great. He like everything, every
(01:09:35):
fucking emotional hit, every fucking like foreboding moment, like all
the like emotions that talk feels as he's like getting
used to this fucked up planet. It was just like
fucking great, fucking amazing, all.
Speaker 5 (01:09:53):
Right, all right, all right. Number three for me, I
have Danda Dan Season two Aliens goes Hormones. It's like
puberty directed by Quentin Tarantino. That's I thought of that
earlier today, and it really it really didn't have this
nice feeling. It was chaos. It worked really beautifully. The
(01:10:14):
full season. I'm talking about one and two, but I'm
only I'm mostly focusing on part two. They added characters
that leveled up to death. They leveled up the action,
gave great real weight to the weirdness that was going on,
and they leaned into it. The cliffhanger was understandable but
also infuriating because it's like, man, this is the middle
(01:10:36):
of what's going on, Like, like, don't do.
Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
This like season one? How season one did?
Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
I felt like, but season but I can't because season
one didn't end like the season one. It was just
like a part one. It's like, yeah, man, we just
we're just gonna take a breath and we'll be right back.
After these messages, this seems like, oh yeah, you're gonna
have to wait to twenty twenty seven to get this
next season. Like hold on, bro, Like if they say
in twenty twenty six, I wouldn't be that mad between
(01:11:05):
the twenty seven. It just seems kind of crazy. But
with all that being said, it's because of that. They
gave me my favorite fight of the season. They even
gave me two of my favorite fights of the season.
Okaron Evil Okaron versus all the Musicians. I thought both
of those were dope. Even one of my favorite scenes
was Okaron in the car when him and miss Isa,
(01:11:28):
you know, she tried to hold his hand and it's
just them them getting cute with each other. I think
that's like, really really cool. But you know, they introduced
a new character towards the end, and I was like,
what's what's who's this guy? He seems like one of
those you either love him or hate him characters, and
I like him like I like him, like he's pretentious,
he's kind of you know.
Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
But not at the same time.
Speaker 5 (01:11:52):
Yeah, it's just.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
Like I'm gonna tell you, this has too many characters
that you will automatically like, oh my god, fucking great character.
Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
There is not a bad character in fucking Down.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
Yeah. So that that's why it gave me some of
my favorite sound bites. Who different season one? Who are
them bitches? I just I don't know, man. I love
this show. I love it. I love it, love it,
love it. So yeah, four out of five for me,
that's in my top three.
Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
All right, even I'm trying to find the review for it,
so I can never we go found it. I didn't
really I didn't write a lot for this review. But
it was something that actually, you know, kind of uh
stood out, and I didn't think it was gonna be
as high early on, So I guess I'm not gonna
(01:12:43):
read this review. I didn't think it was gonna be
this high early on, and this was the show that
I mentioned during the last recording that really really sprung
up the charts. Matt, I hear what you're saying. Where
you weren't invested in the beginning, I disagree. I liked
the season throughout, and then the last like half the
of the season was just fucking excellent. This show has
(01:13:07):
never been at a higher point at this stage than
where it's at now. And again, just the powerfulness of
everything that happened with SWEEKA really stands out and really
puts it above the majority of these shows. Doctor Stone
season four Season season four Core two is my number
three anime.
Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
I got that wrong. I guess that's your number one.
But how you blazed it no number one was that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
You know what my number one is and it was
never gonna change. I will say this, though unrelated to
number three, I did confirm my number one. I didn't
give it a five. I have no five star anime.
This season you downgraded.
Speaker 5 (01:13:48):
You had to it. At the beginning of this show,
I thought, I.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
Thought, I put my number one is five. And then
when I read the review and I went back on
the analyst, I didn't. I gave it a four point
seventy five. And realistically, Sean, and if we want to
talk about my number ones, I gave Apothecary last season
my only five, and I gave Orben Winter my only five.
I've only had two to five star anime this season
or this year so far. I just want you to
(01:14:12):
know that. But in any case, going back to Doctor Stone,
the steaks have never been higher. Everything. As much as
we laughed about everything, that's Sean said during our part
one recording, Stanley being the absolute menace, he was definitely
helped make the show. Despite the fact that they have
the Elixir of Life aka the Revival Fluid, there were
(01:14:37):
still real consequences. Many characters died in any other show.
If this was a darker themed show, more darker theme show,
those characters win the comeback at all. And it meant like,
at least in the moment you obviously know it's Stone,
no one's gonna die, but it meant something to have
those type of stakes. They are in life or death situations.
(01:14:59):
They are literally fighting for the survival of the planet,
and you know, there is weight and there's gravitas to
that reality. And as Sean had mentioned earlier during part one,
just the amount of building that they did, they've been
doing it at an even more impressive pace. They've got
(01:15:20):
even more resources to do that and set impressive pace,
but they're going it's unprecedented the stuff that they're doing,
and it's not even unprecedented the fact that they're doing
it in general, because it is possible. That's one of
the best things about Doctor Stone is everything that they
show you is stuff that isn't out of the realm
of the average person. But it's the principle of the
fact that these are teenagers. They're all still like teenagers
(01:15:42):
in physical state. Not obviously in terms of them living
because they've been living for a thousand something years basically,
but in terms of physical state, there's still all teenagers.
They're still doing these tremendous things that you know, if
this were real life, with the way the world is,
literally only people from China and Japan and Korea could
fucking do what they're doing. No one in the United
(01:16:04):
States could come close to this. We would all die.
So it's impressive from that standpoint as well as me.
And again the emotional aspects, I've really I genuinely felt
emotion seeing Sueka in those last two episodes. I glazed
it to death. Matt, You're right, but it deserved the
glazing pause. It was. It was phenomenal. The stone has
(01:16:28):
never been higher. And I know we've talked about this
on the show in the past that the manga tends
to disappoint it and then it becomes really over the
top and it may be disappointing. I hope that's not
the case. We shall find out, but at this stage
they're reaching an apex in the show that you know,
it'll be hard to it'll be hard to see whether
(01:16:50):
it tops, whether it disappoints. But one thing I can
say about Doctor Stone before I conclude, is that, out
of all the animes that we talked about, if you
want to get somebody into animeel Doctor Stone is a
really good contender to recommend to someone that doesn't watch
anime to watch Doctor Soon and you know, be able
to kind of, you know, take a different take on
anime and enjoy that aspect due to some of the
(01:17:10):
real life, like you know, realities with the science and
things that nature. So I've never put Doctor Stone. I
think higher than I ever have than I have this season,
and so I'm very happy that I was able to
put a number three.
Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
All right, all.
Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Right, okay, number three for me down Town season two.
I just like I was like my other two a
lot more better. I still have fun, it's funny, got
a nice character moments shine as himself and as Evil Eye.
(01:17:48):
Alkorom definitely stepped up as well. Uh sorry, some of
my favorites. Introduction to the new characters, the cold Cliffecker
mid Ark, I think that's that's gonna be the theme
for Dunn at this point. So I'm just gonna expect
to going forwards like a giant male finger for however
all they want to carry carry it out.
Speaker 4 (01:18:09):
It wasn't the end of this wasn't the middle of
an arc. This was the end of an arc.
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
Oh, so I feel like there's like but still like
things like you know, something's gonna happen like right after
this type of thing.
Speaker 4 (01:18:19):
Of course that's with every show.
Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
But anyway, I have fun. Then then is still entertaining
and still check it out. Number three then then all right,
number two dance.
Speaker 8 (01:18:36):
Not that.
Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
And I mentioned this fucking last year when fucking season
one came out.
Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
I'm not I didn't count it for fucking last time.
I'm counting it this time.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Fucking fucking it was so so fucking disappointed where they
just this one. This one was actually like acceptable where
it wasn't in the middle of in the beginning of art,
I'm not gonna touched too much on season one, but
like as as like everyone's been fucking saying, uh, all
(01:19:08):
the characters are great, all the fights were great, the
fucking visuals, the fucking opening could have like I would
have preferred, like, uh, it's okay, but like I there
was nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:19:19):
Wrong with the new song.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
The ending was great. Where else uh yeah, yeah, like
it down is great, fucking great, great Number two.
Speaker 5 (01:19:33):
Sarah for a while and I put more you're you're
like yeah, yeah, because the fucking applise in a way
in a way anyway, all right, Uh, science just keeps
keeps winning. This man rebuilt civilization not once, but twice.
(01:19:54):
I'm talking about Doctor Stone Future season three. It is
actually the only four point five on my list. This
is a four point five out of five. It's a
fantastic season, felt damn near flawless. The states were high,
higher than ever. There was death, destruction, discovery, all in
the twine. But at times the pacing did feel kind
(01:20:14):
of rushed, like they really had to. You could sense
the urgency, and sometimes I think the urgency kind of
kind of rushed some of the pacing. Like what they
did was Sweaker, they could have easily just did for
three years later, four years later. So when Sweaker revives everyone,
it's like, yeah, seven years past. It's like, wait a minute,
(01:20:36):
wait a minute, we don't know how long y'all were frozen?
Are you counting from the time y'all? Because the internet,
the people from the manga say no, no, no, no,
that's seven years that passed. She wasn't working on that loan.
They was like they were frozen for like three four years,
and you know, only four years happened since everybody was frozen.
So it was three years then four years. So that's
(01:20:56):
where you get the seven from. It wasn't oh after
Sweaker woke up set even years past. It's like, nah,
only three four years past. After every after she woke up.
But I shouldn't have had to go. I shouldn't have
had to have people on the internet tell me that
they could have just as easily on the show three
years later, four years later, but they didn't, And I
feel like that's the one flaw that keeps it from
(01:21:17):
being the Five by the Five. Other than that, Oh no, bro,
this was this was elite anime watching. This was elite
high stakes anime watching. It was like the Stanley scene
when he landed on Plymouth Rock and landed on them
for real. It was I really kept thinking somebody was
gonna pull something out, somebody was gonna get saved. And
(01:21:37):
then when a big twist about being petrified, it's like, oh, no,
brought this ship to cure him. Intell it bro, this
he died, Bro like sweaker, Bro, he died bro like
for real. Like I just felt like, oh, now we're
getting into sci fi. Now we're getting written too real
sci fi. It's just like, yo, bro, this ain't just
like somebody died and came back. So now my prediction
(01:21:59):
came true. They're gonna work with doctor Zeno to go
to the to the moon, and when they face the
real threat, in the moon. You know who's gonna save everybody?
Speaker 1 (01:22:08):
What the Stanley?
Speaker 5 (01:22:10):
Yeah, yeah, because that's what that's what doctor Stone always does.
He defeats you, then then you respect him. Then my.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Huh that makes total sense.
Speaker 5 (01:22:23):
Yeah, Stanley gonna be Stanley.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Stanley's gonna stand trial and we're you know, we're gonna say.
Speaker 5 (01:22:30):
It's gonna redeem himself Stanley. Yes, Stanley's gonna save everybody
when they go to space and they know it. Oh,
because he's the only real soldier. Stanley is gonna have
to play for the other side and really like like
put his put his prowles to good use.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Gay by the way, because I definitely got that.
Speaker 5 (01:22:49):
Bro that last episode, Like no, when they woke up
Nick and just comfortable. Bro, I walk up in front
of the home man, I'm a I'm like, hey, bro,
put someone I'm gonna turn the other way. They looked
at each other like first time. Yeah, no, Bro, Stanley
killed for this man that wouldn't know, that wouldn't know.
I hate these kids.
Speaker 1 (01:23:07):
Told your getting a captain back now. He loved that man?
Speaker 5 (01:23:11):
That was I love like like that was oh no,
Like y'all, y'all, y'all, don took my man. I'm gonna
get him back. Plus Stanley, I don't know. Stanley with
purple lipstick isn't no what wear long ass nails? They
kiss each other. I mean, yeah, bro, that's that's that's
that's yeah. Yeah the year right there, man. They they
like man.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
Matt is Stanley the power bottom.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
Yes, actually.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
I also I forgot the man.
Speaker 1 (01:23:41):
The point about Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
When you think about it, right, I gave. I gave
four point five. We were similar on that.
Speaker 5 (01:23:48):
Yeah, man, four point five five.
Speaker 1 (01:23:50):
We were really similar on tell them what happens?
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
We were really similar.
Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Yeah, as you're clapp, you're making clapp and size, we're
very similar.
Speaker 4 (01:23:59):
I won't bottoming here, I won't.
Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
I won't mention how Stanley not only kills the men,
but the women and children too.
Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Yes, he held no fucking he held no no punches.
Speaker 1 (01:24:14):
Bad Sorry number two done?
Speaker 2 (01:24:29):
Oh my number two? Sorry, my bad. Number two is
called the nine Season two. I can't really add much
more to so what y'all said. But unlike you guys,
like I was thoroughly in that. I see your points
in terms of, like, you know, shifting it over to
being more about Nazna and not so much about Uncle,
but I appreciated that I could see what they were
(01:24:50):
doing with it. I appreciated it. I was thoroughly invested
in it those reveals like this was a plot driven
season for Call the Night, which I thoroughly enjoy the culmination.
As I said, why I called it my fight of
the season between Nasa Nain and I Uncle. Yeah, Nazen,
I've realistically lost, but all of the backstory and all
of the lead up to that is really what makes
(01:25:10):
that fight really really special. And I was that entire
I was similar to Hakaru on Baited Breath for entirely
different reasons. I you know, this would have been one
that if I would have binged it, I would have
been in heaven and having to wait that week between
them and for me, I waited that shit a few
weeks because I had nine I think of the thirteen.
(01:25:31):
It was one of those shows when I binged it.
I had to binge like three four episodes of word
and the fact that I got all of that was really, really,
really great. I love the binge. From that perspective, I
do agree, which is why I bumped it down from
five stars. In terms of the open ended questions, and
I didn't think of previously. I do hope we get
that season three. Sean mentions the principle of them titling
(01:25:54):
a call the Night. I agree that is never a
good sign, but I'm hoping that they that and they
give us. It took three years. If they give us
another three years, so be it. But as long as
we get those conclusive pieces, I'm good with that. I
agree also with the with the sentiment of you know,
his co gonna turn. I don't think Co turns if
(01:26:15):
this is my prediction, don't know. My prediction is, I
don't think Co turns, but I think he does naturally
fall in love eventually with Nazena, and they have a
similar background because basically Nasena I and again I don't
know this, I bet you when they do talk about
Nazena's father, he's probably a human and it'll be the
same situation between them. That's my guest. Don't know. Not
(01:26:37):
that's not a spoiler because I don't know. I'm just predicting,
and that'll be nice to see. So I do hope
they give us that season three. But I enjoyed Call
the Night for what it was four point seventy five
out of five for me, So no regrets.
Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
Okay, all right, Uh one, before I do this, I
hate that you and I are three and three for
number one for the season. I I I was hoping
for a variety for us, but now we are the
same for number one with how it's going to be.
Speaker 5 (01:27:16):
You think you think we're all, Oh yeah, one of
us isn't there yet?
Speaker 1 (01:27:19):
Yeah, yeah, Sean, I'm not gonna spoil it. So if
you want to stay on and stay on. If not,
you can mute yourself.
Speaker 5 (01:27:28):
No, y'all, go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:27:30):
Number two frankent Flower blues ddignity. That is my number two.
Every character felt important, every character grew not. There was
a couple of funny moments, emotional moments, romantic moments like
even the stuff I really enjoyed it wasn't the romance
part of it. I'm not gonna spoil much. Just the
(01:27:53):
watch with Brent Tower's mother, like with what she did
for him. That was. That's one of the Yeah. I
love that Netflix dly handled it. Were waiting for just
a piece of ship dub. But outside of that, I
(01:28:16):
enjoyed a lot. It's one of my favorite romances in
the while because again, some of them don't like like
some are good, but some are like, wow, this is
really good. And I got that with Fragrant Flower. I
do hope we get more. It's like with Dave's My Heart.
I love that it's like around there for different reasons,
but the romance of it is still really good. So yeah,
(01:28:39):
number two fragr Flower mm hmm, and number one Chris
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
Uh, I mean, what what else can any of us
say about it except spoiling huge things for fucking star,
But don't spoil it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:59):
I know I'm not going.
Speaker 5 (01:29:00):
I mean I'm not. I mean I muted it, so
where yeah, I can just keep going. I just I
can kind of reaj outate and tell what I'll talk,
not what I tell them, but where it's probably safe
to turn the volume back on.
Speaker 3 (01:29:10):
Yeah yeah, but yeah, yeah, I really love the characters.
I really love the whole fucking like atmosphere where it's
not too like much pressure. I love the fact that
like they did such a good job adaptatient like not
not gonna get your I don't really even care so
(01:29:34):
much about the Netflix thing, because I was gonna watch
it either way, Like whether I had the I was
gonna find the way, just like I cry, just like
I had to do with the.
Speaker 1 (01:29:52):
Summertime.
Speaker 3 (01:29:53):
Yet, Yeah, I like, if it's something i'm looking forward to,
I'm gonna just sucking watch it. I don't care if
I have to like organize break the law to like
fucking watch it. Who cares. It's not my fault that
people don't fucking send their stuff over the right way.
(01:30:14):
But yeah, I fucking loved everything, all the characters, all
the fucking uh, every moment, every thing about the show.
Speaker 4 (01:30:21):
It was so fucking good.
Speaker 3 (01:30:22):
And I'm gonna be really fucking disappointed, not really disappointed
if it doesn't get a season two, because.
Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
I'm gonna just continue to read the Monk, but like
it needs to. They need to keep this going.
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
It ended well, it just needs that that finality.
Speaker 4 (01:30:36):
In terms of the schools, there's there's a lot more.
There's a lot like they.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
And the other I won't mention their names, but the
other couple that they're that they kind of teased. I
mentioned that in my review as well. I hope they
do something with them.
Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Yeah, you guys know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
Yeah, I don't I know who exactly who you're talking about.
And I'm not gonna say damn thing.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
Yeah, I hope that.
Speaker 1 (01:31:04):
All right, sir, All right, let's say if we're all
the same, you should be.
Speaker 5 (01:31:11):
Okay. My top anime after season proof that pain can
be prestige TV short, brutal, beautiful, and gone before you
could emotionally prepare. I'm talking about Taco PE's Original Seeing.
I gave Taco PE's Original Seeing a very extremely rare
(01:31:33):
five out of five.
Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
You get.
Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
I gave it a lower rating than you.
Speaker 5 (01:31:40):
There was a I loved it more than you did.
And I don't think you really even realized that. Like
Taco Pie's Original, Taco Pie's Original Sin was a flawless
execution carried by the strength in this limited format. What
that means is the fact that they did it in
short episodes. They wasted no time. Every story was good,
every story was great, every story built upon the last,
(01:32:03):
and the emotional weight care about each episode was just
It never got dull. And then they even managed to
give us a twist about the timeline that threw me off.
But it was like, okay, when we got to the end,
it was like, oh dangn y'all cooking? Yeah, man, Every
single hit the emotional precision. It didn't waste the frame
and didn't waste the feeling. It was a haunting masterpiece
(01:32:24):
that said everything it needed to and then it vanished
and then it was gone, and then overstairs welcome like
they came, they did their thing, and Taco Pe got
back in this rock and he's gone. I feel like
it's very extremely rare. It's kind of like a good
classic album like Michael jackson Thriller is probably a classic
because it's only nine songs. That's it. It's short, like
(01:32:47):
the best. I think keeping it short is how you
get a lot of classics. So Taco p was classic
because it was short, it was short, it came, it
was gone, that was it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
I gave it a four point seven out of five. Matt,
I'm gonna take this time to read damn near my entire.
Speaker 1 (01:33:09):
Review for this show.
Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
No, I don't think you should you. I've been pretty
good with me reading my things.
Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
I mean I've been you've been good.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
Good this can this can be a little bit longer.
First off, I need to say this emphatically, this show
is not for the faint of heart. Behind the cute imagery,
previews may show the show is very deeply rooted in
themes of suicide, murder, and both physical and psychological child abuse.
(01:33:39):
Each episode of the anime starts off with a firm
trigger warning and advocation for suicide prevention. The show explores
the inhumane reality who those who come from normal, good
families have no idea about. Trauma is an epicenter for
all these children's problems. Lack of solid parental and authoritative
adult figures lead to each of the three human characters
(01:34:02):
to deplorable decisions that no child in the real world
should ever have to endure or contemplate, but sadly is
more common than is discussed. Takapi's role of the naive
alien who has no idea of the cruel reality of
humankind and the deplorable nature humans can find themselves in
if the right storm of bad luck and cruel fate
presents itself, ends up guiding the reveal of the true
(01:34:25):
moral of the show, overcoming the reality of human nature
at its absolute worst in finding ways to keep on
living no matter how dires life's situate life's circumstances are.
The animation is unique as it is imperfect, which correlates
well to the flaws of the characters, but also drawn
at times to capture the childlike essence of the character's
(01:34:46):
current age grouping. However, the show does a great job
of using animation to really depict the emotions each character
goes through at various stages throughout, with tremendous highlight and
emphasis on when the characters do find happiness and when
each character specifically hits rock bottom. Likewise, the musical composition
does a great job of transferring the energy of the
scenes to the viewer, going from wonderfully light and happy
(01:35:08):
vibes and melodies to the most sinister and heart stopping
tones as something dramatic or evil occurs. The show does
a really solid job of creating drama and giving you
meaty cliffhangers, but done at appropriate times, leaving the audience
wondering what's next for X character after X event has transpired.
In the end, my only critique of the show would
be the finale. It is a bittersweet ending that I
(01:35:30):
do not wish to ruin, but it did not sit
one hundred percent well with me because I wish we
had gotten definitive conclusions with the trauma each character had
to deal with. The ending happens, but there's still unresolved
issues which are never touched on. That said, as long
as you can stomach the very horrid adult themes, this
anime should be an absolute must watch if you wish
to open your horizons to something that, sadly is more
(01:35:51):
common in real life than we care to admit. A
reminder to parents and role models in the audience that
on your worst day, you are nowhere near as horrible
as the parents and role models in this show, and
a reminder to anyone who may be depressed that no
matter how bad things get, there are things to keep
living for, people to keep living for, moments to keep
living for. As such, I gave this a very high
(01:36:13):
four star rating and would implore people strong enough for
it to check it out.
Speaker 5 (01:36:19):
All right, all right, three minutes on the dat good job.
Speaker 2 (01:36:27):
I try to add the extra emphasis in tone when
I was reading that versus just reading it like the plane.
I wanted to like have like my voice go up
and down with the chains when I was trying to
read that out, because I think it is so important
and I do want to Before you go, Matt, I
don't know if I'm stealing your thunder by saying this,
but for as dark and sinister as Tacopy was, I
(01:36:48):
do firmly want audience to be reminded that you know
the the dark themes, including suicide and murder or things
that no nobody should ever have to deal with alone
or ever, point blank period. And if you're ever at
a stage in life where those are options in your universe,
(01:37:09):
please reach out for help, really, please talk to somebody,
Please do everything under the sun to make sure that
you can avoid those realities, because it's not right in
terms of who we are as living people to ever
have to to kind of have to see that and
endure that. And as I said, it is sadly more
(01:37:29):
prevalent than what we what we make it to be.
And so I think our job as being good human
beings is to do what you can, if you're ever
faced with someone in those situations, to kind of try
and be that like, even if you're not successful, at
least at least put your best foot forward and try
and you know, do what you can to help and
be a better person to yourself and other people. Moral
(01:37:52):
of the.
Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
Story, Wow, there's still my thunder.
Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:37:57):
Well. Number one now number one best I ever don't care.
Speaker 5 (01:38:03):
You yeh chrazy.
Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
Uh since you guys were talking about the whole ranking thing. Uh,
my top four all them, that's I'm your kitan Uh
And how do you okay.
Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
Mhm anything further ad matt on Tacope from your perspective.
Speaker 1 (01:38:37):
No, I ain't gonna add number. Yeah, number one is
Tacos Originals And uh, they did so much with the
amount of time they had. It's a short manga series.
They were able to capture all of it in six
episodes without complaints. And no, it does show the evil
side of how families can be in different ways outside.
(01:39:00):
They didn't. We didn't get the we didn't get the
sexual abuse.
Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (01:39:03):
That's probably for the better, but it does the neglect,
abandonment type or the physical, the emotional, they all go
through it in different various ways. Well, Takopy is this
naive mentally challenge elliots wit everything that doesn't know what
pain or sentence is is the land of happiness. That's
(01:39:23):
that's all it knows. And he got a slap in
the face of reality really quick in that timeline when
we got when we got those twitchs of the timeline. Yeah,
I was like holy shit, Like like this change of
perspective of other characters too, because you get to see
what the other characters going through going through or how
(01:39:44):
they are feeling. Like they're not like the kids were
not bad people. They were just circumstances, like circumstances of
what their parents had done to them, and they don't
know how to reach out or talk to people about it.
So this is like the only way they know how.
Because people should. This shows that people should not be parents.
A lot of people should not be parents. At the
(01:40:04):
end of the day, they think it's just have a
kid and then brow and I padd ig no, no, no, no,
having a kid It does take a lot of work, commitment, love.
If you're not if you're like not an nfo on hold,
then do not have kids just because the fucking book
tell you too, Because that is just the stupidest fucking thing.
(01:40:26):
Do it because you want, not because someone tells you to.
But no, if you're gett abuse, run away, go to
a neighbor, to the cops, call, just go somewhere, just
run run away from it. I know it's scary, but
people are out there to look out for other people
(01:40:47):
and it's not again, they're not bad people that just
come from a bad place. That's how I feel about
all these kids. Even though they they're they they are
also abusive, motion manipulative like it was a teenager, which
he evenipulayed the other guy when Makia was the other guy.
Is that manipulation type of thing. It's just how they're raised,
(01:41:08):
like that's all they know, and that's that's awful. It's
really awful, gritty, and they should that. I do wish
to your point, we got the consequences like from some
of the parents. At the same time, it's a different timeline,
so it's kind of like a way for them to
kind of start over. I wish we got that from
(01:41:29):
the other timelines. Yes, if we're still in them, I agree,
But the fact that we didn't, it's like it's a
fresh start for them, even though some of the parents
are the same, like some of that have not learned anything.
Some have. Some happens and that's what we got out
of it. So yeah, not for the faint of heart.
If you are highly recommend it. If you're not, I
(01:41:53):
do not blame you. I'm not gonna say you're messing out.
I get it, especially people that I do go for it.
They don't want to see it on the screen. I
do not blame them. Yeah, number one, that was beautiful, Matt,
thank it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
I mean, I think it just says a lot in
terms of the show that we're able to have three
different powerful and invokes invoctions of invoctions we're looking I
don't know what I'm looking for, but three powerful testimonies
in terms of background of the show and.
Speaker 5 (01:42:30):
The rules gonna be everyone's. I know it's gonna be
at least three of ours. Like number one, I just
knew just by the way we talked on it, like
nobody was bringing it up. I said, yeah, man, Taco
P gonna be one because it just it made such
an impact early on. It was it's kind of like
nothing say the best for last, Like this ain't one
of them. You can say the best for last. This
is kind of like like going to the Apollo and
(01:42:53):
watching the Jacks and Fire performers, like, yeah, it's a rap.
I don't care who go after them, it's a rap
they're going in. That's how it felt Taco P. When
I got done with Taco P, I was just like, yeah,
this this is gonna be number one, if don't nobody
else drop some heat. I knew everything that was coming back,
and I was just like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:43:13):
There was mad heat and nothing came close.
Speaker 5 (01:43:15):
Like I don't know. I mean, I would say it's
it's it got it got a flawless rating for me.
But despite that, I did have some like there were
shows that could have since we at the end, there
are shows like Doctor Stone could have did things where
it would have been really close, but Taco p had
carried a different emotional weight. Dan Di Dan really if
(01:43:37):
they would to end on a cliffhanger and they would have,
it's one of them shows like I don't know what
the stopping point would be. Same thing with Anne Shirley.
It's like, okay, it's already a book. The Call of
the Night. I think it's the only show that could
have like jumped to number one had they went above
and beyond, but they did it. If Clevitis would have
just knocked out the park and just been super raw, maybe,
(01:43:59):
but I think you got a good point. Man originally
saying I really, I really think they had number one
spot on the lot the whole season.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
Six weeks because it was done when when the other
shows were just about to start, like there were like
two to three episodes in while this finished.
Speaker 2 (01:44:16):
It was six weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
Yeah, it started like halfway for June, so six weeks.
Speaker 5 (01:44:22):
Like some shows had three ups, like you said, you're right,
some shows only had like three two three episodes tops,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:44:29):
It was just like.
Speaker 5 (01:44:33):
Yeah, it's like I think the I think only probably
Sokamoto Days was one of the few shows that was
just and cad you Number eight was just getting to
start when Taco piece about the rap. Yeah, it was
like yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
Week four, Week five, by then your d you are
deep in that story. Episode five is the most paramount
piece of the story.
Speaker 5 (01:44:55):
Yeah, Taco PE is just one of them shows like
you can't dub it, you can't recreate it. It just
exists as it is. And I think it's, uh, it's
flawless exsecution. I think that is Taco P. I want
to see how it stacks up against my full twenty
twenty five lists because Taco P. At this point, I
(01:45:17):
tell you, Taco P's in my top four. It's in
my top four. Like the way I do my top
five is four of my top five are the number
ones for each season. The number ones for eat season
get a slat because that's what you earn when you
number one.
Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
Basically, yeah, it's basic.
Speaker 5 (01:45:38):
Where is it? Don't take one through five?
Speaker 2 (01:45:40):
Is the top twenty five and then everything else kind
of slots a twig. That's my that's my yearly review.
But I mean, orb Apothecaries are my number ones from
Winter and Spring respectively. Do I feel tacopy is better
than both of them at this current moment in time? Yeah? Yeah,
good luck Fall mm.
Speaker 5 (01:46:02):
Hm said, yeah, good luck Fall.
Speaker 1 (01:46:05):
But guys, we are going to wrap it up here.
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
Whoa all right?
Speaker 1 (01:46:13):
We have We're gonna have our full season premiere next week.
Speaker 2 (01:46:17):
Are we not going over our shows we're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (01:46:20):
We're gonna doing quick Seph Chris because he has like everything.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
