Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, Eric, can you guys hear me? Now? I can.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yeah, I'm at the game.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
I can't believe I'm on a post game show when
the game has soon in yet, I can't believe I'm
on a postgame show while I'm at the final Go game.
Now that we just saw the last pitching performance from
an actual partters picture, I'm a little worried that the
Dodgers might actually come back. But also I'm not worried

(00:31):
because I know I'm being silly.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
All right, enjoy the game while we do the postgame
show of the game.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
This is great.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
This is like a mister show bit, Like, I'm into this.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
If you're on the postgame show, stay tuned for the
postgame show because the game show right now. Welcome to
the game show. All right, here we go, three, two, one, Welcome, Welcome. Wait,
hang on, let's do a Rafie one too, because rafie
go ahead, do your favorite bit.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Okay, Hello, Padres Hotovers, It's Rafie Canter coming to you
during the ninth inning of the Padres Doddors game. As
we are starting the postgame show. As Dave Roberts is
currently wanted in the County of San Diego, for murder

(01:26):
really tragic and horrid incident in tonight's game where he
left a man to die out on the mound at
nineteen Tony Gwinn Drive. And so we decided, if Dave
Roberts can give up on the game, so can we.
I am here with Craig Elston, who is being held
against his will on a postgame show that's happening during

(01:48):
the game.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Correct now, this is being done under protest. This is
the pre post game show otherwise known as the game show. Oh,
just game show. We're on during the game. But I
do understand why we're starting because the game is out

(02:09):
of hand. As we're speaking right now, it's eleven to one.
As usual, my feed is like thirty seconds to a
minute behind everyone, so you're all in the future to me,
which is something I hate. But as Keith k Hernandez
begins his third inning throwing under fifty mile an hour

(02:32):
lob balls up to the plate, I am very happy
that the Padres are winning to even this series. I
am very happy that you know, well over ten thousand
Dodger fans paid full price to see this travisham mockery

(02:55):
of a game. A travesy of a sham of a mockery,
a Travis shamarckery. This is what we have tonight. And
I really couldn't be more disgusted with the Los Angeles
Dodgers franchise for lowering the game of baseball the way

(03:18):
that they have tonight, for proving their cynical lack of
regard for their own players, in potentially leading another young
pitcher to injury, as they have done dozens of times
in the last few years, and in treating the fans, who,
many of them spent triple digits for whatever seat they

(03:41):
got in this game to watch Kei k fucking Hernandez
pitch with a plastic shield on for three innings, throwing
fifty miles an hour, and now throwing sidearm Laredo pitches
because he's tired. Now, may everybody involved in this go

(04:03):
on the injured list, including Dave Roberts and including Andrew Friedman.
You know, I hope they sprained their backs. And by
the way, Tyler Wade is so not a major league
left fielder that he has not homered against Key k twice.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Now, hey, I know, so with like an optimal launch angle.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah, it's just just ridiculous. A lot of good things
about this game, but speaking in terms of a postgame
game postgame, clearly the man is Dylan Cees. Because Dylan
Cees had to give this team length tonight. This was
a situation where he really did. He had to give

(04:44):
this team at least six innings, if not seven, tonight,
and he gave them seven innings and eleven strikeouts despite
walking five. He blake snelled his way through it, Rafie,
and for the first time this year we could truly
truly say dominant Dylan out there tonight helping lead the

(05:05):
Padres to victory in a key game against a division rival.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Absolutely, and it was Harry there for a moment I
can't remember. It was the third or fourth inning where
Dylan Cees walked the bases loaded, walked the heart of
the Dodgers' order so the bases were loaded, and then
was able to scramble out of it with a task
for Hernandez strikeout.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
And you know that was.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
There was another moment earlier where I think it was
in the second or third inning, where he walked Dalton
rushing on four pitches to bring up Sho Hao Tani
and I was getting a little worried because I had
seen Dylan Cease do that in person at Dodger Stadium
on September twenty fifth last year, when the Padres still

(05:51):
had a shot at the division, walking the number nine
hitter Miguel Rojas to bring up Sho Heo Tany and
that put a game out of hand. I was waiting
in line for King Hawaiian chicken slider roll I will
in my memory forever at Dodger Stadium. But uh, I
mean yeah, to Dylan's credit, he was electric. I mean
he really The moment that I had the hope and

(06:13):
the feeling that something would be different about the start
was the very first batter when he struck out Shoho Tani,
not on a fastball, not on a slider, but on
a knuckle curveball right at the bottom of the zone,
a perfect pitch that clearly flummexed Otani because he had
gotten the two pitch pitcher scouting report. And uh, yeah,

(06:34):
I mean this is the Dylan that we had hoped for,
and clearly this was something of a meaningful game to him.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Yeah, very very much so. Also, I think it was
a meaningful game for Luisa Rise, who comes up with
three hits, but other than he only had one completely
spastic at bat where he was corkscrewing to swing it
pitches at the lid of his helmet. He seemed a

(07:05):
little bit more focused line drive approach picking up three hits.
Manny drives in five tonight. I mean, he's just going.
But Jackson Merrill picks up hits as well. The heart
of the order performed a lot better. I'd still have
to see Fernando tattoos Junior Homer, you know, But I
feel like with I will. I want to say this

(07:27):
because the last show that was on the feed, I
was quite critical of Fernando. I mean, facts aren't critical
of people. Facts are facts. The facts are to tease.
You know. Saw his ops drop under eight hundred during
the course of this slump when it was over one
thousand at the start of it. But I think, Rafie,
I saw really good takes from Fernando each of the

(07:51):
last two nights that are quite encouraging to me.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Yeah, the discipline is there, I'm thinking, especially last night
in the ninth inning when he worked a count full
and was thrown a low and away fast or excuse me,
a low and away slider. That certainly we've seen him
swing at many, many times in his career, and he
was able to identify it and lay off and get

(08:15):
on base at a very critical druncture in the game.
And you know, I would have loved for him to
get more at bath tonight. I am totally fine with
him being taken out of the game because the last
thing that I want is for him to tozzis Junior's
timing to be messed up having to link up with

(08:36):
a fifty two mile an hour fastball from Keiky Hernandez.
But uh yeah, I feel like something is certainly starting
to click with him from this Dodger series, as I
mentioned on Sunday Show, and if just to transition a
little bit as well, Jackson Merrill, like, I feel like
he's starting to become a little bit unclogged, so to speak,

(09:00):
with a triple on tonight's game, another base hit, he
goes two for four, and you know, if we can
just start to slowly, slowly get these guys back in
the lineup. You know, my only thought watching tonight's game
was that this is how it was all constructed to work.
Like the lineup ADS constructed hasn't been working for months now,

(09:22):
and tonight was our kind of our really our first
true taste in a while of like this is what
the platonic ideal of this lineup is, with you know,
a Rise going three for five, uh, scoring four runs tonight,
Butchato also going three for five, Merrill going two for four,
you know, Sheets going one for three with a double Xander,

(09:45):
you know, just bumping up those baseball card stats with
some hits off of keyk Hernandez three for five tonight.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Win his way up the up the first base line
as he's getting it off of Kik. I'm I mean,
Xander looks like he is forty six years old. Rafee. Yeah,
It's it's wild, And I think he's played a pretty
decent short stop. I gotta say, I play a very

(10:17):
decent short soup. You know, I think he's been he's
been handling it there. But I didn't know that we
were picking up Felix Fer mean, you know, on a
on an eleven year, two hundred eighty million dollar contract,
it's gonna hit two forty with four homers over the
course of the year. Yeah, Like it's it's it's wild.

(10:39):
He's drawn a couple of walks whatever, maybe maybe there's
an incredible month coming up for Xander Billguards. I am
mostly really happy that Padres have won this game. Strangely
pissed off starting the show, not only because it's weird
because we're doing a game postgame pre game game post game,
but uh, because I really I'm mad at the Dodgers.

(11:03):
I am literally mad at the Dodgers, Like, what is
this shit? Why do you feel you can just do this?
You know? I mean the reason is because you win
so many regular season games and have so much money
and generate so much money that you literally don't care
about the people who came to see this game and
decide to play a concession game. And this kid, Mike

(11:26):
Sour comes in, Matt Sour sake, Sour just giving up bullets.
It's all he's doing. It's just allowing bullets. And you know,
this poor kid hadn't thrown more than eighty two pitches
in a game the entire season. Yeah, and the Dodgers

(11:51):
just cynically leave him out there for what was the
final total, like one hundred and ten pitches. I'm gonna
look at hang on, that's right.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
One hundred and eleven pitch.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
One hundred and eleven pitches. Yeah, four and two thirds innings,
thirteen hits, nine earned runs, and everyone giving him a
you know, pat on the back when he got into
the dugout. Sure, but this is ridiculous. Lu Trevino pitches
one inning and the Dodgers are like, oh, we started
to fall behind. We're going to literally do nothing tonight.

(12:24):
We're gonna pitch Key k a Hernandez three inning. It's
it's a travesty. It's an absolute travesty, and it's disgusting,
and I think Baseball needs to change these rules on
position player pitching. You could see it, man, you could
see it cynically. They were waiting for the score to
get over eight. And as soon as it was key

(12:44):
Key Hernandez was gonna they took out.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
They took out Mooki and Taoscar when it was five.
Nothing like in the sixth inning. It really wasn't that
out of hand when we started to act and then
Maldonado hit a home run six nothing, And I mean,
I've truly never seen anything like it, And I honestly

(13:09):
like I think if if the Padres really wanted to
make a show of it, they should file a grievance
with the league, or send a bill to the Dodgers
for all of the concessions money that they did not
make tonight because so many people left the game early,
the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the Padres lost
in revenue because guys weren't buying hot dogs and beers

(13:31):
and pretzels.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
What.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
You can buy a beer into the seventh inning, but
kiky Hernandaz is already in the game in the sixth inning.
If kik Hernadas comes in the game and I'm there,
I'm leaving like I flat out and I'm not buying
anything else.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
So I don't like any part of it. I don't
like how it screws up your team. I don't like
facing a guy throwing lob balls. I hated what happened
to the Padres offense after the Colorado twenty one nothing game,
you know, and thank god the game is over. The

(14:05):
Padres win eleven to one. Welcome to the Padres hot
to postgame show, actually a postgame show. Now game over.
David Morgan closes things out with two innings one run allowed.
After ceases seven Shutty and the Padres are back within

(14:26):
a game of the Dodgers in the NL West raphie,
and in fact a half game ahead of them, and
in between are the Giants, who have won six in
a row now, including a ninth inn comeback in Colorado tonight.
The NL West race continues to be so dynamic, and

(14:48):
I'm both super excited and also still kind of ticked
off about last night's lost that they could be in
first place right.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Now, they could be in first place. And I'm gonna
posit something to you, Craig, which is that last season,
the metric for the Padres success, I believe was wins
against La minus losses against Colorado. Right, Yeah, so I

(15:16):
would go so far as to say is the Rockies
are so bad that I don't necessarily think that like
that that shouldn't be repeated. But I'm starting to feel
like losses against the Diamondbacks are going to be critical
when you compare the Padres and the Giants. To me,

(15:38):
it's going to come down to who's performing the better
against the Diamondbacks in this kind of weird way, and
something that kicks off this weekend for the Padres, as inexplicably,
they're playing their first game against the Diamondbacks on June thirteenth.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
It's ridiculous. So, yeah, dumbest schedule ever. But I'm not
I'm not in the I mean, I'm not in the
level of writing off the diamondbags. I'm still even although
I mean, you know, burns out is a is a
major blow for sure, but they've got such a good offense.
I think they're definitely going to be a tough out.

(16:23):
But in the Dodger wins versus Rocky losses stat column,
though Padres get back to zero, they've got one Dodger
win and one Rocky loss.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
I do like that part. Yeah, so the man is
Dylan Cy. Seven shutout innings, five walks is awful, but
he somehow Blake snails his way through it. Eleven strikeouts,
subman is Machado for a five RBI night. The moment
is the moment that Rafie described. Five nothing and uh

(16:59):
Key Star are coming out of the game for LA
and the Dodgers are waving a white flag with a
blue lettering on it that's probably on sale for eighty
bucks at the Dodgers team store. You know, they're white
loss flag and if you can get it with a
special Otani theme for one hundred and twenty nine to
ninety nine, where the loss can also look like a

(17:23):
seventeen if you turn it around the other way. So's
that's the moment. The manager is Dave Roberts. He just
spat at baseball tonight, and I hope he fucking wakes
up with a stiff neck from the hotel pillow overnight.
I really do. And by extension, Andrew Friedman, you know,

(17:46):
because this isn't this isn't Robert's doing it on his own.
This is all an extension of the Dodgers. They're arrogance
their decision that they can just do a punt game
against San Diego and that it's completely fine. Padres, thank god,
didn't do anything other than catch the punt Tonight Martine
Maldonado gets to get a homer and keep his average
close to two hundred. You know, just a whole bunch

(18:09):
of garbage. The mistake is that MLB allows this bullshit
to happen. And the meaning is that the Padres now rafe.
We're now up to June tenth. There is one game
left to go before they get a day off, and
it'll be a real day off because they can just

(18:30):
travel in the afternoon to Phoenix tomorrow afternoon and then
have all of Thursday to chill in their hotel. And
really they could even stay the night here in San
Diego they fly out good, Yeah, yeah, chill here in
San Diego. They probably will and fly out on Thursday. See,

(18:51):
because it's a forty minute flight to get over to Phoenix.
And this is like the off day that they've got
in the middle of this gauntlet. But now you're up
to five and four through this ten game stretch and
a chance to win the series against the Dodgers tomorrow.
Pretty damn cool, very very cool.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah, just to follow up on that off day travel plant.
Speaking for myself, I would not want to fly to Phoenix,
Arizona in June to spend twenty four hours assumably locked
in my hotel room and not able to go outside
because it's so hot. But yeah, I mean, I'll be really,

(19:34):
really curious.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
You know.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
One of the great things about Dylan Cees going seven
innings tonight and David Morgan being our mini version of
the pain Sponge is that the bullpen should be completely reset.
We've got an off day on Thursday. Everyone should be
available tomorrow, and that's going to be critical because we've
got the strand man himself. Brandy Vasquez is taking the hill,

(20:02):
and you know, I always try and be optimistic with Brandy,
but I am quite clenched every time I watch his start.
And my hope sincerely is that Mike Shilt is gonna
have a short leash and do whatever he needs to
do to keep the Padres in this game. I you know,

(20:24):
I have no doubts about the ways that Shild has
managed the bullpen this season. He's been excellent, deployed it excellent.
It's our number one tool, number one weapon on the
team so far, and I hope that that continues tomorrow.
And we have someone very special coming on the stage
with us.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Oh yeah, huge patron. Friar Goose is gonna kick off
our patron participation portion of this postgame show. After an
eleven to one win over the Dodgers, Friar Goose go
must house.

Speaker 6 (20:51):
Hey, everybody has it going very happy today, And I
just want to say I want to tell everyone little
little change on a common phrase, not all frauds or Dodgers,
but tonight, at least tonight, at least all Dodgers are frauds.
I would say, right, yeah, we kind of saw that spectacle.
I love the team get in the w but yeah,

(21:12):
that that win kind of left a strange taste in
my mouth. You know, I'm happy we got the win.
But Dylan sees guys, you know, I don't want to
say bullying works. But he may have listened in on
the last you know, potters Hot podcast. Maybe maybe not.
I think it might play the role.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Uh, you know.

Speaker 6 (21:33):
And and in the words of Rayfie, you know, I
think Agent Scully won that war, right. I think I
think he might figuring things out.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (21:40):
And he you know, if you don't know what it means,
took out the last episode, you know, it might have
won the battle inside of Rayfie.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
And and and Dylan, she just had a great, great,
great outing today. I have one question for you, guys,
gun to your head. We were n LDS Game four again.
Who takes the mound after the night Colek Dylan Ce's
they're they're the only options.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
That's what I got, guys.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Ohing a very critical critical question. Well, Friar grous is gone.
I'm assuming that friar groose also means it's three days rest,
which is what yeah, Dylan.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Yeah, short short would we Yeah, let's say it's the
same situation. Would the padres give the ball to Colic
on full rest or would they give it to Dylan
on short rest? Uh?

Speaker 4 (22:33):
I mean, I think you have to go with Colic
at least once through the order and then figure it
out from there. But you want him to ideally eat
up two or three innings, right.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
I don't think it's even a question you start Stephen
Colick starting, because starting starters on three days rest in
the playoffs sucks and is stupid and doesn't work all
the time, and starting two pitch pitchers in the playoffs
on three days rest is doubly stupid and doubly doesn't
work and doubly is stinky. Pooh pooh. So I would

(23:10):
start Stephen Kohlik or any major league starter over the
three days rest option, which is just to fuck yourself.
That's what the three days off option is. Like, Oh,
roll the die, a shot in the dark. One out
of six, maybe you'll get a representative five inning effort.

(23:30):
Five out of six, you're just dead, and you've killed
your season, and you've killed your bullpen, and you've killed
your confidence. And the guy who you would give the
ball to now thinks that you don't believe in him,
and so on and so forth. Never start a starter
on three days press. The only time it should happen
is the last game of the season, the literal last
game of the season. And usually the team that starts

(23:50):
a guy on three days rest is the team that
is indicating that their season's about to end. And people
who try to do it otherwise, I don't know. It's
worked out every once in a while, it's failed spectacularly
over and over again, and yet it is seductive, seductive
at the end of the season, because God forbid we
use our seventh or eighth best arm. You know, this

(24:13):
is the guy that got us here. Dylan Sees has
a four to seven era or whatever. You know, like,
how many times has he failed you in addition to
succeeded for you? Anyways, I'm laugh on a rand. Here's
big patron healing callup on the stage on the postgame show.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
I just want to hear the word seductive again. Actually
at this point, apologies for my voice. I was at
the game yesterday and I have just a series of
blurbs or takes, and if you want to respond, feel
free to pause and I can just rattle through them
really quickly. Instead, I would like to pause. It a

(24:48):
different mistake for this game. There are no rules against
dogs not playing, so I think we should have pitched
Diego in the ninth member of the pup squad at
Petco Park. That was truly the mistake. I Craig mentioned
this on the pod that he was selling the tickets.
Is the next one, And I know sometimes the season

(25:11):
ticket members get hate for this, but I just want
everyone to bask in the shot and freud of the
people who sit next to me confirm there were Dodger
fans in my seats who paid four x face value
to watch their team be both pathetic and get embarrassed
and have to travel home after this. And I really

(25:34):
think that, like what you said, Craig, it's right, like
this is disrespectful to their own fan base, to our
fan base, to the game. Like the fact that they
are the rules that we have right now, where you
have to be down by nine or be up by
ten in the ninth those are written because of the Dodgers.

(25:55):
They that's why they made those rules.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
It's true. No, you're you're not kidding that is the
truth because the Dodgers started to abuse this rule and
now they're just abusing it in new ways.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Yeah, and and my posit is the rule needs to
be changed. You have to be up or down ten
and it can only be in the ninth inning. We
can't just have teams abusing the phantom iel, which, by
the way, when is Kik going on the phantom ile
after all these innings pitched and like abusing the abusing phantomiel,
which they also change the rules on the pitcher. I

(26:26):
l for the Dodgers because of the abuse of the
phantom iel. You can't abuse position players like you can't
just keep churning through pitchers and burning people's arms out.
Just like so when does sour pitch again in the
majors the next time? They need him to like break
his arm because they can't keep a starting pitcher healthy
because they just are like uninterested in like having starters.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Last.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
I'm totally with you on the anger because imagine if
this was Saturday night baseball. This is Sunday Night Baseball.
Is the marquee matchup two of the best teams in
there in the sport playing and it's like when Lebron
and you know Steph would sit out for a game
that was being on ESPN and the NBA, Like, it's

(27:10):
just a terrible look. And you know this isn't load management,
this is just them not protecting their pitchers. But the
one take I did want to I was curious on
your thoughts on that's a little bit more substance is
I think the Arizona series, regardless of what happens tomorrow,
is the most important series of June because this has

(27:34):
happened every year the last couple of years. We play
the Dodgers, the team gets up and then they have
this letdown. Whoever we play after, whether it's the Rockies,
whether it's the Giants, whether it's whoever, they need to
lock in and win the game, like win the series
in Arizona, even though it's a trap series right in

(27:56):
between two LA series. And this especially was the Yesterday
was the game where baseball is stupid and nobody should
watch because like so many stupid things happened, this is
the game where the Dodgers are stupid and no one
should support their nonsense and watch this. So tomorrow might
be an actual baseball game for once, but we need

(28:17):
to lock in and take down the Diamondbacks too, regardless
of what happens. SMT because we can totally lose, but
we've got four more against the Dodgers. But you can't
lose against the Dodgers and then lose two against the
Diamondbacks and then go into LA like you got to
take care of that business. So I hope they stay
lucked in. That's all my takes. Sorry for taking a.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
No great call healing Cow that is a that's a
really really good call, because uh, it's something I think
about too. In fact, just watching the way the podres
Rafie have scuffled offensively for three weeks and then they
come in the last two games they score seven and
eleven runs. Yeah, and yeah, the Dodgers pitching isn't what

(28:59):
it used to be. But I'm telling you this team
has gotten up for La. They've gotten up for La
in every sense of the phrase. And at what goes
up must come down, and we've seen them come down
for the opponent after LA low so many times and
LA looms in the on deck circle. So Arizona really

(29:21):
is a trap series. I couldn't agree with Helean Calmohre.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Yeah, I completely agree with that, And I mean that
the most frustrating and I hope Billboard material part of
tonight's game is that they did this because they believe
that they're going to beat Randy Vasquez tomorrow. Like you know,
if it was Michael King on the hill tomorrow and
it's five nothing, are they pulling out Mookie Bets and

(29:48):
t Oscar Hernandez.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
No, I don't. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
I don't think so. It's because they're they're looking, and
they're they're betting that we have the advanced scouting on
Randy Vasquez. I'm trying to pull up his you know,
expected stats right now. I mean, Randy doesn't really have
a great pitch. You know, He's thrown his cutter more

(30:12):
than anything, and it hasn't expected wOBA a four sixteen.
He's thrown his four seamer necks and it hasn't expected
wOBA three seventy three. So, I mean, one of the
things that we saw in last night's game was that
the Dodgers were clearly hunting for fastballs they did not have.
I want to shout out MTL Ryan, who had some
good posts on our Discord channel today of you know,

(30:35):
the swing and miss whiffs on fastballs from Nick Povetta.
I think he only had three or four whiffs on
his fastball the whole night, even though he threw probably
fifty or sixty of them. And on the curveball he
had like a you know, a thirty something percent with rate.
And quite simply, that's just because the Dodgers were hunting

(30:58):
for fastballs, and you know, some of the contact that
they were able to get in last night's game against
Nick Povetta on the curveball were on pitches that were
out of the zone, that were low and out of
the zone, which would tunnel with a middle fastball. So
with Randy Vasquez, same scouting report differences, Nick Pavetta has

(31:18):
much better stuff than Randy Vasquez. They're gonna say, hunt
the fastball, hunt the fastball, and you know it, being
the Dodgers, they'll probably they they think that they're gonna
have good results. Now, who's to say what's gonna happen.
On the other side, the Dodgers are throwing Justin Roleski. Robleski,
who's got pitched, yeah, and it's like, you know, rates

(31:41):
out as a Brian Howing type, essentially a back end
starter into long reliever. So yeah, I mean this is
all to say I completely agree on the Arizona side
of things that you know, one of the core tenants
of Padre's hot tubs certainly as long as I've been
on the show, Craig, is uh, the post Dodgers hangover

(32:01):
something we've talked about in all three seasons that we've
been doing this together. And yeah, doing it against Arizona.
Like I said, those are all of a sudden, very
very valuable games, Craig.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
You know, a game like this, there's very little to say.
It's mostly that La put this poor kid Sour you know,
out there with basically, you know, an ankle chain attached
to the pitching rubber and he was gonna pitch until
the game got to the point where statistically they could
bring in Key k hern Andez to just turn the

(32:40):
game into a force the rest of the way. And
like you said, they're hoping that they're just gonna turn
it around and rip Randy tomorrow and score all the
runs they need and even if Robleski goes three innings.
Now they've got a rested, real bullpen that they can
throw at us and if they need to in a
credit situation late in the game, the Dodgers can feel

(33:03):
confident that they can throw any lefty they want and
Gavin Sheets isn't going to come out of the game.
And the reason for that is the kind of the
last thing I want to say. It was the thing
like that made me wish I was home to do
a postgame last night, even after a loss, which, like
a couple things really irritated me in last night's game,

(33:23):
Luisa Rise swinging at a pitch at the bill of
his cap when Tatise was stealing in the bottom of
the ninth. That's probably top of the list. Locke, which's
terrible route was not good, but it absolutely killed me
that with all their power right handed pitching options unavailable
last night, and Lefty's pitching in the eighth and in

(33:46):
the tenth inning, that Gavin Sheets face to Lefty, that
he just faced to Lefty, and that the Padres couldn't
even pinch hit Jose Iglesias in a situation like that.
Never mind Luis Campusano. But Luis Campusano is now just

(34:08):
a nonexistent person on this team. He's just a non
player on the San Diego Padres. And you've got a
left fielder. They do left fielders that aren't hitting in
Waydeon Lockridge. You've got a catcher that, you know, hit
a home run today, congrats, But Maldonado Diaz is not
an offensive combination. And then you've got this roster spot

(34:30):
that's just not being used. And I think in close
games against great teams, it's it's a problem now apropos
of nothing. As we were discussing this, Chris Reid arrived
and then turned on his camera and and I don't know,
there's a glare. There's a glare there.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Yeah, are you wearing a white T shirt? What's going on?

Speaker 7 (34:56):
It's it's Las Vegas. The air here is so I
appear paler than I normally would usually I have a
quite luscious tan.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Mm hmm. Seduction continues.

Speaker 8 (35:14):
Do it do the thing?

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Boys, do the thing? Scoring? No, beating the fucking Dodgers. Storing. No,
not not just scoring like pulverizing. There will be no puporizing.

Speaker 7 (35:30):
You don't know that they can get crazy. Twenty NS.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Receipts you're coming out, Yeah, those are other receipts and
I'll accept them. But Sig sour and and kik A
come on, what was that. We're basically just spending this
whole show. Roberts.

Speaker 7 (35:55):
You should, you should, because the sad thing is, uh
that that's our dude ain't even gonna get a ring
for having to lay it all out like that, because
that was such bush league bullshit, like risking a kid's career,
like you know, I know it isn't nineteen ninety four anymore.

(36:16):
We know what that does to dudes, and uh yeah,
it was just completely complete bullshit. It bummed me out.
I'm not a Dodger lovin, but I'm empathetic. And you know,
the Dodgers, they have a bunch of people. It's them
being so fucking ruthless. They're a ruthless organization.

Speaker 8 (36:36):
You know.

Speaker 7 (36:36):
Sometimes you got to hand it to them. The Dodgers
would not have Martine Maldonado on their roster right now,
you know, Oh.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Yeah, of course not. Let's welcome up CN, who had
their hand up earlier and now is on stage. CN.
Welcome to the postgame show. Just have to unmute yourself
at the little button.

Speaker 7 (37:05):
It's the one with the microphone.

Speaker 9 (37:08):
I think I got it.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
It is what's happening.

Speaker 9 (37:12):
I'm actually at work right now. So that's why I
was in and out. But yeah, first time caller, new subscriber,
relatively new. If you're listening out there, you should totally
do it. It's so worth it. But I just wanted
to add that.

Speaker 7 (37:26):
The shirt isn't it cn'. That's what's where the money is.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
For sure.

Speaker 9 (37:31):
Okay, So I just wanted to add, at the risk
of ending on like like a negative note, like like
you guys, I'm I'm super bothered and disturbed by the
Dodg's willingness to like deliberately risk a player's help like
that and their livelihood as like battle strategy. And I
wanted to speak on that in overall terms of sportsmanship
because this is also the org that lied on Manny's

(37:54):
character on a national stage last year. You know, they
had journalists putting out videos like whole montage videos and
stuff about like the Dodgers and especially Manny as like
this like unrepentant villain as battle strategy, and for me,
that's just like such it's for me, that kind of

(38:16):
sportsmanship is like anti baseball, and like for the Dodgers,
it just feels systemic because you see, like Max Munsey
and like Will Smith every other press conference buying into
that and so and then their fans justify it because
I feel like they're not actual fans of the sport.
They're more fans of like trash reality TV who just

(38:37):
want something to brag about. So at least, you know,
at the very least very brand, very la. But I
also wanted to say that that being said, it cracks
me up at Rokie Sassake's homework assignment to teams was
about improving his health and velocity, and look what ended
up happening. He lost ten miles per hour on his
fastball and got injured from an injury that they knew

(38:59):
he already had. So it's kind of like, you know,
be careful what you wish for, like you know, for him.
And also like that whole off season narrative was such
a lie and I wish that he was active so
that we could boo him. But yeah, so I just
I feel sorry for every young picture in their system.

(39:21):
Yeah that's all. It's just like I feel like the
stuff like that is crossing a line and more people
should be open about saying something about it because it's
messed up.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
That's all.

Speaker 9 (39:33):
Thanks guys, Love you guys.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
C ed Yes, nd you just set the record for
best first call. Yeah, that's it. There it is there,
it is right there. What was the best first call
ever to padres hot to post game? It was c

(39:56):
N tonight, absolute killer start to finish. Wow, there it is.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
There, it is it has been to keep coming back.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Yeah, yes, please do Thank you, Sean. It's great to
have you here. Now here's Eddie bogeys. Now, this is
that feeling like when your friend, I've been golfing too much,
but when your friend in the forest and hits it
to eighty five down the middle and then it's your turn.

Speaker 7 (40:24):
I just want to piggyback real quick. Her bringing up
Broki Sasaki's decision is so awesome because we watch these
Dodgers burnout young pitchers. They have ten people on the
il right now. They're they're doing max Vlow, they're doing
pitch design at any cost, win at any cost. And
bringing Roki Sasaki back into the picture was so brilliant. Man,

(40:49):
I want to I want to send I want to Skywright.
That's the best call we've ever had, Eddie. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (40:58):
I guess my costs suck? Huh?

Speaker 1 (41:01):
I mean they're fine. Your they're fine too, they're really good.
Just we were really impressed, all right.

Speaker 7 (41:09):
Like you know that was a Jackson Merrill first season
call in Yoursander boguards, Buddy, you're valuable.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
I provide decent defense. You know we need decent defense.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
How are your wrists, Beddy?

Speaker 2 (41:23):
We'll getting better, you know, we're getting better.

Speaker 8 (41:25):
I had a couple of his today.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
So people shouldn't sleep on that, you.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Know, over their shoulders. Just ask Michael King. Don't sleep
on anything really.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
No, Hey, we all get pinched nerves from you know,
sleeping awkwardly, and everyone knows this very common. But Greg,
I think I'm in your head because you continue to
see the every podcast. Now I'm in your head.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Yeah yeah, I know. It's now a thing. It's becoming
a thing. I'm just the wrong name.

Speaker 7 (42:01):
Would you say tonight?

Speaker 1 (42:04):
I think I got Sour wrong at first, before I
called him Sig Sour. That's Mike got a Mike.

Speaker 4 (42:09):
He got him Mike Sour instead of this matter which,
to be fair, what's the difference.

Speaker 1 (42:15):
I mean, I'm giving him exactly as much respect and
reverence Eddie as the Dodgers are. They're like, yeah, thanks Mike,
Matt Fred. We don't give a fuck your arm hurts,
that's cool. Fill out the form in the right bin
and talk to trainer number three. You'll be okay.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Yeah, I was gonna say I think the LB needs
to investigate the Rockies because they gave up a three
or four run lead in the ninth to lose to
the Giants, and god, there's just embarrassing. I mean, it

(42:56):
just keeps getting worse for them.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
Yeah, and thirty five losses after today, I believe.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
And they're still going to draw like twenty eight thousand
people a game because people in Denver are cool and
want to see good baseball, and they have a good
ballpark and they want to go hang out. It's the
It's Peco Park syndrome, you know.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Also, I guess one last thing about last night's game.
People were trashing Wandy online. Not really his fault, not really.
You get put in a situation where you already got
a runner on second with no outs. That's just a
tough situation. We didn't have any other pitchers. I mean,

(43:41):
it's like people were trash at him, and you know,
I'm curious what the catch probability of that ball to
uh Lockridge was because it was hit hard, but he
also took a terrible route. And then that ground ball
that's just like ricocheted off the second base That was

(44:03):
like the unluckiest thing that could happen too.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
It was, I agree, Eddie. And and even beyond that,
the pod reason needed to win that game in nine innings,
and I think everybody in the dugout knew that and
they found, you know, they found a way not to
and when you get it to the tenth you you
leave it to that form of chance. Uh, And that's
that's what happens. You know, a ball hits the second

(44:31):
base bag and instead of giving up one run, you
give up two runs. And that's the difference in the game.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Yeah, I think that game was on Shilt because I
understand when he put in Lockers, because I think Banda
was on, who's a lefty, so you wanted, uh, lockers
A come on because he's better against lefties. But Wade
hit a triple.

Speaker 1 (44:57):
And then also just it's always ok to take out Tyler.
Eddie tie the way is not good at hitting, he is.

Speaker 2 (45:04):
Saying, but same as Lockridge, and then also drove me insane,
which we all saw is coming, I think is a
ninth inning. He is coming up, and camp Be didn't
coming to hit, but no one won't surprise.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
Yeah. I was just getting into that when Chris arrived.
But I mean, we're beating a dead horse at this point.
We might as well just replay old Matt Carpenter episodes.
When you're playing twenty five six, it's gonna come up
in critical spots. It's gonna come up in extra inning
games against your rival. Those are the moments where that

(45:43):
twenty sixth player might be the difference in an incredibly
close back and forth game. But for the Podres, their
twenty sixth player is dead to them, and he's a
young player still, and that's what blows my mind. Guys
and Eddie, thank you for all It blows my mind.

(46:05):
I've said it so many times before and I'll repeat
it again. I don't think there are any very many
organizations in baseball that would have treated and handled Louise
Campusano the way the Padres have treated and handled Luis Campusano.
I think there are many teams that would have had
Louis Campusano in their lineup all year long, unless he

(46:27):
hid his way out of it. Instead, the Padres have
made him literally the last hitter on their forty man roster,
and now there's this tug of war of is why
is he even on the team because they don't let
him play for three weeks now. Today tonight he finally
got a pin hitting appearance and it was against key

(46:49):
k in you know, it was against key K and
of course he grounded out, so Shilts got even another.
Shilts get on the call to AJ tomorrow, Schiltz like,
what do you tell he can't even get hit off
key K?

Speaker 4 (47:02):
Because let let me tell you something, cuz I only
had one catcher who put a ball on the seat
last night and his name was Martin Maldonado, all right.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
Which can't he finds a grand outs against ki K?
That's all I'm telling you.

Speaker 4 (47:17):
Also, I stumbled into this with a typo tonight. But
has anyone called him Maldonada? Because I think that that
is so funny, like another overnight from Maldonada.

Speaker 1 (47:29):
Yeah exactly, you know. I just I'd really like to
see them trade Luis campus Ono for a dime on
the dollar, or.

Speaker 7 (47:40):
That's what's gonna happen, where he's gonna get dfah.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
Disappointing, you know, but it's it's really disappointing. And I
see this is great. Max is coming up. Max was
texting with me during the game as well, and I
know Max's question is about can we just go get
a replacement left fielder? And I mean, like, I don't
know what you get for Louis campus On in terms
of a left fielder. I think the Padres are looking
for a longer term answer than a two week patch

(48:06):
via trade. But some thing's gotta change along the line.
Something's gotta change, and I'm confident it will. I'm confident
at will. But until it does, we're left to chase.
Here's Max joining us up on the postgame show stage.

Speaker 8 (48:22):
You're just gonna toss out Martin Malda oh no, as
a backup if you want that. I just leave it
to this fucking team in La, in this stupid city
that I live in, where we destroy this team and
have two great nights of offense after weeks of futility,

(48:44):
and all we can do is be angry, myself included.
It's like we can't even win when we win.

Speaker 1 (48:49):
It's so frustrating.

Speaker 8 (48:52):
But yes, my question is why I get it. I
don't think they're looking for a two week patch. But
at this point, can we just give up our fourteenth
best prospect for Mike Talkman or someone like we just
need a capable replacement level player to play in left
field for this team. It's it's at this point, it's

(49:14):
beyond a joke.

Speaker 4 (49:17):
Yeah, I'd love it, because go for it. I this
brings up one of my favorite expressions, which is, don't
let great be the thief of good? And that's what
the Padres are doing. They're saying, well, we want to
get Jaron Durand because we want four wins for three

(49:37):
and a half years of team control a year, instead
of saying, let's go get I mean not that I'd
be super stoked, but it's a lot better than we
have now Taylor Ward or Jesus Sanchez or you name it,
from the number of teams Kyle Stowers that are are
are floundering already, whose seasons are over and who'd be

(50:00):
willing to give us, you know, these left fielders for
a song. And they're saying, no, no, no, we want to
make our big guy go ahead, Maxim, Sorry.

Speaker 8 (50:09):
No, it's gonna say not only that, but like we
know how stupid this game is. If we traded for
Jaron Duran, he would be a middling player for the
rest of the season because it would be a small
sample size. And that's the luck we would have there.
And it's so many average players out there that we
could get that could get hot or at least again
play at replacement level for no price at all. I

(50:30):
don't understand why they haven't pulled the trigger on something,
just anything to pull us out of this offensive malaise.

Speaker 7 (50:39):
Oh, it's because Jason Hayward's starting his rehab, Matt, how
did I miss it? This rehab is going to be
the charm.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
Max. Think about how good that is for the kids
in Triple A, because hey, what's showing up? That means
a buffet is showing up, catered dinners are showing up,
like you know, leadership. They're gonna have stories to tell
as they get older.

Speaker 9 (51:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (51:10):
I never made it past Triple A, but I you know,
I got to play with Jason Hayward for three games.
You know I hit the ball further than he did. Yeah, no, kidd,
and so does everyone. Now. Yeah, it's it's that's that's
where we are, h Max. I think it's a great point,
and it makes it another great call. This has been
a great show. What do you think, Rafie about the
suggestion we've had in the chat that we should put

(51:32):
this one on the free feet just as an example
of the type.

Speaker 4 (51:34):
Oh, I think you should. Yeah. Absolutely, And I'm leaving
Ryan's calling from the show from from the eighth inning
when he was like, I'm at the post game for
the game. I'm already. I'm still at the game.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
I'm on the postgame show.

Speaker 4 (51:48):
This is one of my favorite calls ever. Yeah, we'll
put it on the free feet. It's a preview. Hopefully
we get some folks to join us.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
All right, Well, this is last call right now. If
anyone else wants to jump in, last call. Otherwise, we're
going to wrap this up because tomorrow is another day.
It's an afternoon show, afternoon game. I have a work
meeting up in Carlsbad tomorrow at two thirty, so it
may work out that I can get home for like
a five o'clock post game or something like that, if

(52:22):
things work out, or if we have group therapy, or
however we want to play it. Of course, Thursday's an
off day. We could do group therapy then, but that
is shop talk that we can do off the line.
But once again, last call if anyone wants to jump up.
Padres win eleven to one, ten games over five hundred again,
which is a beautiful thing to see. Thirty eighth win

(52:44):
of the season. Giants have won six in a row.
I'm sorry, I stand by what I said about the
Giants on Sunday's show. I still in the.

Speaker 7 (52:56):
Giants shopman's out now, but I feel like that's just
gonna Winke of Williadamas, who I encourage everybody to go
look at his prior year statistics because Willia Domas of
San Francisco is not the Williadamas of Milwaukee. And eventually,
I mean, it could be a Xander situation where the
new scenery prohibits him from ever performing like he did before.

(53:19):
But I don't see it happening. And they're pitching is
damn good. I feel like they're going to be here
till the end. But you know what we are too.
Roudry's got a damn good team. And if Dylan Cees
has begun his Blake Snell transformation, if he went into
his cocoon when he shaved all his facial hair, and
he's just been eating his way out.

Speaker 1 (53:41):
Of the poopa poopa? Did you what say? He ate what?
I Sometimes watching him made me feel like I was
eating poopa? What's the cocoon?

Speaker 7 (53:56):
What's the other word for the cocoon?

Speaker 1 (53:58):
A fucking.

Speaker 4 (54:02):
Sir, This isn't RB's. Are you gonna order something?

Speaker 7 (54:05):
Yes, I'm gonna order ten more starts just like Dylan
ceas Meade tonight. I don't like that.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
I would like the beef please out.

Speaker 10 (54:20):
Oh my lord, yeah, put the fries of the bag.
This show is over. Padre's Postgame, which was a game,
a pre post post pre game, postgame game postgame show.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
Eleven to one win go. Padreis
