Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to Pag's Perspective with your host Ryan Pagano. Okay,
so I ain't gonna lie to you.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
I did not realize until this afternoon that McDonald's officially
brought back their snack raps as of today.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Now.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Look, I found out about it a couple months ago,
when everybody else did, amidst the rumors that McDonald's might
finally bring.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Back their waited snack raps.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I remember hearing the announcement a couple months ago, and
then I just kind of forgot about it until today, aka,
the day when they were officially gonna release it, and
release it they did. They brought back their two snack
raps to the menu, and I tried them earlier today,
So that way you might know what to get if
(00:49):
you decide to go get yourself one of those long
awaited snack raps that everybody has apparently been waiting ten
years for now, speaking of ten years ago, I unfortunately
am not one of those people that tried the snack
rap in its heyday. I mean, I was thirteen for
crying out loud when it got discontinued. Can you really
(01:10):
fault me for that one?
Speaker 1 (01:11):
There?
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Like I'm learning geometry. All right, that's pretty much my
focus in life at that point. You really think that
my focus would otherwise be on like a two dollars
rap that is probably prepared in like five minutes or
something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Of course not.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I had better priorities than anyway. As a school kid
shout out to Burner Middle School, my days over there.
And it's kind of funny the way that I found
out about it, because this was after I finished engineering
a show about food hospitality service basically a talk show
(01:52):
about that whole industry, Culinary Confidential with Christina Kits on
AM nine seventy.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
The answer.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I didn't find out about it until right when I
was done with engineering those two shows that I just
went on my McDonald's app for the hell of it,
just to see if there were any deals worth getting
for today.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
And sure enough, I open the app.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And I see, oh wait a second, the snack rafts
are back.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
I forgot this was the day where they decided to
do that. You wouldn't really think so.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
With how much I didn't see on social media about it.
I mean, granted, a lot of my timeline was more
focused on the premiere of Big Brother twenty seven tonight,
if anything, not to mention, at least in the Mets
part of my timeline, David Peterson getting selected as an
All Star reserve first time as an All Star. So
(02:52):
on a side note, congrats Pete. But yeah, that might
be a reason why it took me until like four
o'clock in the afternoon to realize that this thing that
everybody was so hyped about and something that people were
waiting months and months and months really a decade for,
(03:14):
was finally back out.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
On the menu again. But you know, as they.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Say, better later than never, because I got my hands
on the two snack raps that they brought back earlier today,
and you know, for somebody who had snack raps for
the first time today, I gotta say they actually were
pretty good. I mean, granted, the size of them is
(03:41):
probably about what you'd expect for one that costs two
ninety nine if you were to just get it out.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
A cart, but.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
It actually was a pretty nice refresher on the typical
McDonald's fair that sort of thing like the fries, chicken nuggets, etcetera, etcetera. Like, yes,
you still had pieces of fried chicken in the actual
rap itself, but it was complimented very nicely. I gotta
(04:14):
give him that. So it's fried chicken or a little
squares of fried chicken rather in a tortilla wrap with
lettuce and cheese, which they both add some really good
texture to it, and then the sauce, so you can
(04:34):
get one of two. One is a ranch snack wrap,
the other is a spicy snack wrap. And the ranch one,
I gotta say, was definitely the superior of the two.
The ranch sauce just compliments everything so perfectly, especially the chicken.
I gotta give that a ten out of ten. Now
I say the ranch snack wrap is superior. It's not
(04:57):
to say that the spicy one isn't good either, because
that's very valid too. I guess the one thing that
I'd give it is that I just didn't expect how
spicy for it to be for a fast food menu item,
because look, I can handle spice all right. Like I've
(05:17):
handled a lot of spicy sauces before. I can sure
as hell handle them. Now, spice isn't an issue for me.
I just kind of underestimated how much it was gonna be,
which you'd think wouldn't really be an issue because the
spicy sauce they use for that. It's the same one
that they use for their spicy mcchickens, or rather spicy mccrispy's.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
I beg your pardon, and it's a sauce I've had before,
which it does have a bit of a kick to it.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
That's not too bad for me, but for somebody who
can't really tolerate spice that much, maybe not necessarily the case.
All in all, I'll give that one an eight out
of ten, mostly because I felt like the sauce was
really just drowning out the rest of the contents of
(06:11):
the spicy snack wrap.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Otherwise it wasn't an issue for the ranch one.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
It was spread pretty even, I gotta say, But you
know my spicy wrap, when I first opened it, there
was one end of it which was just completely covered
in the spicy sauce entirely that luckily I was able
to just sweep up from the little wrapper that it
(06:36):
came in and all that.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Also one other thing to mention about the rapper.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
I love the touch of the mid two thousands McDonald's
logo in there with the I'm Loving It slogan on
the bottom. They used that as the stickers to, you know,
keep it in its packaging together. So I gotta say
it was a good, nice touch go back to the
two thousands a little bit the good times. Even if
(07:03):
it's just with a logo, you know, it's still a
reminder of the better times that was my childhood in
the mid to late two thousands.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
God, I'm really so nostalgic for that, and how could
you not be. I mean, people were so freaking hyped
about this stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
I was actually on a FaceTime earlier today with good
friend of the podcast, Chris Contello, who also tried the
snack wraps, albeit at a different McDonald's. I was still
in New York City at this point. He was back
on Long Island and how he was describing his local
McDonald's to me, which is the drive through line extending
(07:47):
damn near to the highway and inside just being absolutely
packed for a rap that people have been waiting ten
years for. If that doesn't tell you how hyped people
are for this, then I I genuinely don't know what
to tell you. And I went to New York City too,
so you'd think this would be bolts to the wall
(08:08):
full of people waiting to get their hands on this. Surprisingly,
it wasn't really that packed, although from the time I
placed my mobile order to when I actually got it,
it did take thirteen minutes for it to get to
my hands, which, granted, I shouldn't really be.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Complaining about too much.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
I've worked in service for years, so I completely understand
how this feels, and I feel for the workers who.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Had to deal with all the crowds today.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
If anything, but I'm pretty sure those things are made
to order, kind of like their quarter pound burgers.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Those are just made to order, so they take a
little bit longer to make.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I kind of have an inkling that the same can
be said for the wraps, but someone can correct me
on this if wrong. So I kind of understand why
it took that long to get those two raps, but hey,
you know what, the way, it was worth it for
(09:12):
two raps that were very hyped about, and I'd say
they lived up to the hype. I mean, they were
pretty flavorful, very good, texture overall, very good overall. So
I guess if you want to combine the ratings of
those two snack wraps that I had, one Ranch and
(09:33):
one Spicy Collective, nine out of ten of course ten
out of ten for the Ranch, that one is definitely
the best one. If you are looking for my suggestion
my perspective, ranch is going to be the way to
go again, not to say that Spicy isn't that good,
because it is. But if I had to choose one
(09:53):
or the other, it's one hundred percent going to be
the Ranch, no question about it. So yeah, anyway, thank
you for coming to Paggyboo's Food Reviews. The return, albeit
on a different platform. Shout out to my one episode
that I did on my TikTok two years ago when
(10:15):
Raising Kanes finally opened up in New York and I
rated the I believe it was the big box meal,
but I had rated or whatever is the standard for that.
I think it's the three finger combo. I don't remember
it was two years ago. Can you fault me for this?
(10:35):
But yes, Paggyboo's Food Reviews is officially back, formerly on TikTok,
which I guess it still can be now if I
decided to get any documentation of me trying those snap
wraps today in the first place. Kind of stupid on
my part because I didn't get any documentation of it.
Although that was when I was on the FaceTime call
(10:57):
with my friend Chris. So I guess you can't really
fault me too much for that, but yes, I can
very well put this on TikTok once again if I
really want to just go back to my foodie stage. Ultimately,
now we're bringing this to speaker and wherever you listen
(11:20):
to the Packs Perspective podcast, because you know, if there's
one thing that I feel like I could do is
just try to paint the picture in your mind about
what these long anticipated raps can entail. So hopefully I
did that for you today here on Pag's Perspective, and
I guess by default, Peggy
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Booze Food Reviews, we are very back
