Speaker 1 (00:03):
Calorogus Shark Media. Hello and welcome to you Palace Intrigue.
I'm your host, Mark Francis. Megan Michael appears to have
been snubbed by one of her former podcast guests, none
other than Mariah Carey. In a new interview with Hits Radio,

(00:23):
the pop legend was asked about her connections to the
British royal family ahead of her performance at King Charles
Sandringham Estate, but instead of mentioning her twenty twenty two
appearance on Meghan's Archetypes podcast, Carrie chose to name only
one royal, Sarah ferguson The Duchess of Youorek, whom she
warmly described as cool. Themission has raised eyebrows, with some

(00:46):
observers calling it a pointed snub, especially given the slightly
tense exchange the pair shared during their podcast episode on Archetypes,
Carrie famously called Megan a deva, prompting a moment of
discomfort that even after carry clarified she meant it it's
a compliment. It's the visual, Mariah explained to the time.

(01:07):
It's the look. You wouldn't maybe get as much a
diva if you weren't so beautiful and didn't have gorgeous ensembles.
Meghan didn't quite agree. I associated differently, she replied, later,
saying it's not something I connect to. Carrie, however, stood
her ground, saying you give us diva moments sometimes, Meghan.
Despite the clarifications and attempts at warmth, the moment never

(01:29):
quite recovered, and now, with Carey opting to highlight a
different duchess in a royal related conversation, some are wondering
if that podcast tension still lingers. In the Daily Mail,
Richard Eden writes under the headline don't believe the gushing
nonsense you're hearing about Meghan and Harry's Netflix deal. I've
been told the truth and it's very different. According to Eden,

(01:51):
the public statement about their relationship with Netflix, for example,
provides a masterclass in media manipulation. What the Sussexes have
been given is a face saving first look agreement in
which Netflix has the option, but no obligation, to commission
any project Harry and Meghan might suggest significantly. I am
told the couple will be paid in full only if

(02:12):
those projects are commissioned, so they could be far less
to the much hyped new deal than meets the eye.
As a show business source put it, this announcement is
potentially an elegant way for Netflix to cut its tithes
with the Sussexes if they don't come up with anything
juicy and personal, such as their twenty twenty two docu
series Harry and Meghan. Celebrity chef Jameson Stocks has delivered

(02:36):
a blistering assessment of the deal, saying, I think Netflix
will get to a point where they won't know what
to do with her anymore. She might end up in
an office job at Netflix headquarters. Stocks suggested that while
Meghan's connections to food and lifestyle branding is clear, it
may be too narrow a focus to sustain the platform's interest.
She won't stray from cooking, and Netflix, along with other investors,

(02:58):
have already put a lot into her and her lifestyle brand.
Bethany Frankel, speaking to US Weekly after being named the
publication's Entrepreneur of the Year, said the couple rushed into
too many projects at once, resulting in underwhelming outcomes. They
made all these different deals, she said, and business is
really hard. I think the truth is, like Megan and Harry,

(03:20):
I bet they're good decent people. They didn't want the fame,
but they didn't want to give up the lifestyle because
it's expensive. Now they're living in Montecito and it's hard
for things to land. If it was so easy, everybody
would be good at doing it. Frankel noted, Harry is
reportedly once again feeling lost and struggling to find direction.
According to royal commentator Esther crack You, who told the

(03:43):
Son Harry is nowhere to be seen. Yes, obviously he's
dealing with the fallout from his charity and trying to
find his own thing. But the man is lost. I mean,
he's really trying to find his feet. She described Harry
as having a Brown Madus touch, a euphanism for failed ventures,
and adding that in her view, this creative side of
this endeavor has really been Megan's push. She went on

(04:05):
to say, I think because he's come from a world
where everyone fawns at everything that he does, because his
Prince Harry. Harry's most recent contribution to Netflix was the
Polaric documentary, which debuted in December of twenty four, but
according to streaming data, it failed to make an impression,
ranking three thousand, four hundred and thirty six overall with

(04:25):
just five hundred thousand views. That places it well behind
Meghan's own With Love Meghan series, which ranked three hundred
and eighty third and garnered five point three million views.
The second season of With Love Meghan is set to
premiere on August twenty six, but not everyone is convinced
it will serve up a hit. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield

(04:46):
told The Son that viewers shouldn't expect much of a
departure from the show's first outing, calling it more of
the same recipe. She added, if you weren't impressed with
the first season, don't expect a sudden evolution. Even the
music is very much the same. I think she's doing
this pursuit of joy thing, but can be dancing having fun.
It's a way to change public perception about her. The

(05:06):
first season reviews weren't kind. The Guardian described it as
gormous lifestyle filler, while The Telegraph went with simply insane.
Commentator as to crack You was even more pointed, telling
The Sun the deal is a retainer in case they
decide to accidentally do something entertaining again. That's basically it,

(05:26):
So there's no commitment. They put no money behind this.
It's basically the right to first refusal. So if they
come up with something that doesn't have to do with
their whole kind of sermonizing about how to save the world,
then Netflix might be like, yes, I mean, to be
brutally honest, what they've done is they've said, unless you
have some juicy tea to spill on the Royal family,
or you get divorced and want to give us a documentary,

(05:48):
probably not. But if they have something juicy to say
about the Royal family, like the King sent me a
potted plant which turns out to be poison ivy, or
that h my fox just didn't hold me the way
I wanted to and so we've to consciously uncouple, then
maybe that's basically it. These people are a household name.
They're annoying, but they're a household name. More palace. It

(06:08):
just a moment. It's jam wars in the Royal Family.
King Charles is officially undercut Meghan Markel and the Preserve Isle,
pricing his new raspberry jam at just six seventy a jar,
less than half the cost of Megan's fourteen dollars legally
fruit spread offering from her lifestyle brand as Ever Charles's

(06:29):
Long Soul Jam through the Duchy of Cornwall Estate, but
this latest batch is now being stocked at the Sandringham
Gift Shop, with a wider rollout expected soon. The King's
version is described as being made to a unique recipe
with locally sourced ingredients and perfect on toastal SCons. By contrast,
Meghans as Ever Preserved, featuring raspberries and a hint of lemon,

(06:51):
is marketed as a luxurious drizzle that's for more than
just your morning toast. Meanwhile, Meggan's twenty twenty four NAPA
Valley Rose has been on sale for over a week,
and unlike her previous three product launchers, which vanished from
virtual shelves and minutes, this one was still available to
purchase at the time of this recording. A source close
to the Sussex Is told Newsweek the extended availability was intentional, saying,

(07:15):
biggest stock of product yet obviously trying to do everything
we can to ensure as many people as possible can
experience the product. So glad it hasn't sold out yet.
Brand expert Nick Eid agrees. He told Newsweek the slower
sell through may be a sign that as ever, it's
adjusting to demand. It's kind of a good thing that
we have product available to buy if people or a

(07:37):
fan of it. He also encouraged the Duchess to move
beyond direct to consumer launches and begins stocking her products
and retail outlets, saying otherwise you're going to disappoint your customers.
Next on the menu, a sparkling wine is reportedly in development,
with hopes for a release before the end of summer.
Well we hear at Palace Entrigue, meaning me have ordered

(07:59):
the from Megan Markel and we'll have some unboxing and
tasting on the Facebook page later this week. Check it

The King has added another green feather to his crown

(08:19):
with the completion of a new salt of farm that
now fully powers the Sandringham Estate. Built on a former
horse grazing paddock behind the royal residence, the solar facility
features two thousand panels spread across two point three hectares.
The project began last October and is now live, delivering
two point one megawatts of zero carbon energy to Sandringham House,

(08:40):
the Estates visitor center and the sawmill. Any surplus energy
is fed back into the national grid. The eco conscious
Monarch has long championed sustainability and this latest project is
in line with his commitment to renewable energy across royal landholdings.
The solar panels are mounted on a steel framework and
made from toughened glass, and are largely concealed from the

(09:02):
Estates five hundred thousand annual visitors thanks to the surrounding trees.
The installation is expected to operate for up to forty years,
after which the land will be returned to horse grazing.
