Speaker 1 (00:03):
Caloroga Shark Media. Hello and welcome to you Palace Weekly.
I am your host, Mark Francis. This is the abbreviated
version of our daily show, Palace Intrigue. And if you
want these full stories, please go back and listen to

(00:25):
the shows during the week and you'll get the full
length versions. So let's take a look back at last
week's royal news. Megan Michael, the former podcaster and cooking
show host, has announced the return of her sold out Rose,
this time with a fresh twenty twenty four vintage released
under her lifestyle brand as Ever. The Napa Valley Wine

(00:47):
will be back in stock next week, following the swift
sellout of the twenty twenty three edition earlier this month.
Megan shared the news via an as Ever newsletter, along
with a warm note reflecting on summer sunshine and the
joy of clinking glasses with friends. Now it's time for
us to fill your glass. The message bad describing the
twenty twenty four Rose as an elegant medley of delicate

(01:11):
yet memorable flavor and calling it the perfect companion for
sunset dinners barefoot or a dressed to the nines. Megan
may be sitting on a retail gold mine if she
can just keep it stocked. New analysis suggests her lifestyle
brand as Ever could have pulled in as much as
four point five million dollars in a single week had

(01:33):
supply met demand. The Duchess of Sussex launched the venture
with a modest drop of jams and teas back in April,
followed by another release in June and a Napa valley
rose in July, all of which sold out in minutes.
According to Newsweek, the as Ever website saw half a
million page views during that second product drop, giving us

(01:54):
a glimpse of the intense consumer interest. If every visitor
had purchased just the cheapest item, a nine dollar raspberry jam,
that alone would have equated to four and a half
million dollars in sales. Secret vacations may be all the rage,
as Prince Harry has reportedly gone off the grid during
a deeply personal return to Southern Africa, revisiting places tied

(02:18):
to his mother's legacy and reconnecting with someone he calls mom.
Harry reportedly began his journey in Angola earlier this month,
walking through Africa's largest active minefield in Quito, Kwanavalle, echoing
Princess Diana's landmark nineteen ninety seven campaign to ban land mines.
According to a report in The Mail on Sunday, Harry

(02:39):
extended his visit into a week long retreat, traveling next
to Botswana, where he spent time with Tanya TJ. Jenkins,
a wildlife conservationist whom he has described as a mother figure.
During this leg of the trip, Harry was said to
have gone completely off comms for two days, turning off
his phone and stepping away from emails to find some

(02:59):
peace and quiet. Source said this time he took some
more time and space, enjoying total peace of mind and
being somewhere so remote that he couldn't even get emails
or texts or calls. Harry is reportedly taking a step
toward thawing relations with the royal family by offering to
share his official diary of engagements, a move intended to

(03:20):
prevent future clashes over publicity and perhaps paved the way
for a face to face meeting with King Charles later
this year. According to The Mail on Sunday, Harry's decision
follows last month's tension over his visit to Angola. His
emotional retracing of Princess Diana's historic walk through a minefield
drew widespread media attention, unfortunately at the expense of Queen

(03:42):
Camilla's seventy eighth birthday portrait, which was promptly overshadowed in
the headlines. It seems Prince Harry and Megan mark or
maybe finding a new royal court, this time in Palm Beach.
According to Radar Online, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex
are growing increasingly close to Brooklyn Beck and Nicola Peltz,
who have reportedly extended an open invitation for Harry and

(04:04):
Meghan to spend their summers at the couple's lavish Florida compound.
The friendship appears to be more than just a beachside
cocktails and casual catchups. Insiders claim Meghan is eyeing Palm
Beach is a potential hub for her lifestyle brand, seeking
support from the area's affluent social scene. There are tons
of networking opportunities. One tipster said the fact that Nicola

(04:27):
and her family have a massive compound on the beach
is just icing on the cake. With the Netflix deal
reportedly ending, Royal watches wonder what Harry and Meghan will
do for money. Royal expert Robert Jobson told The Sun, Well,
the deal was always set at about one hundred million dollars,
wasn't it. And the talk of that figure sort of
blew a lot of people's minds. But I think that

(04:49):
was for productions and things that they're supposed to have done.
Where does it leave them probably with a bit of
a bowl out looking for some handouts. Maybe that's why
they were over with their stuf. We're over here having
discussions with the King. I don't know. The reality is
in the past they got support from the King and
the late Queen and they said they were going to
go and make their way. They've lost Spotify, they've lost Netflix.

(05:12):
They can't rely on the spare money forever, can they.
Sky News Royal correspondent Rhianna Mills added, it's just fascinating.
They have this very expensive lifestyle. They have to pay
for their security, pay for that big mansion. How do
you kind of keep that money coming in. Donald Trump
may not have named names, but many Royal watchers believe

(05:34):
he took a thinly veiled swipe at Prince Harry and
Meghan Michael doing a press conference in Scotland. Speaking warmly
about his connection to the British royal family, Trump said,
being with Charles, Camilla and everybody, I've got to know
a lot of the family members. They are great people.
They are really great people. But then came a pointed
add on in that sense, I think the UK is
very lucky. You could have people that weren't great people.

(05:56):
I don't know if I can say that, but you
could have people that weren't Trump didn't mention Harry on
Meghan by name, but the implication was clear to many
online when social media user wrote I love the shade
President Trump throws at Prince Arian Meghan Merkel, while another
said they were sure he was calling them out. The
always hard working Prince interrupted his secret super yacht vacation

(06:19):
by delighting Royal watches over the weekend with an unexpected
guest at the YUIFA Women's Euro twenty twenty five final
in Switzerland, none other than Princess Charlotte. The father daughter
duo was seen sitting together in the stands cheering on
England's Lionesses in what marked Charlotte's first overseas football match.
The moment was quickly shared on the royal family's official Instagram,

(06:40):
where fans were equally charmed by the appearance and struck
by the uncanny resemblance between the young princess and her father.
Author Robert Hartman, who previously noted that William is adamant
about his children experiencing real world moments like these and
what is more real world than leaving your super yacht
and flying to Switzerland for one game and sitting in

(07:01):
the skybox. King Charles has said to be very concerned
about the potential for Donald Trump to go off script
and off the rails during his upcoming state visit to
the UK in September. Sources close to the monarch have
told The Daily Beast that the King is particularly anxious
about the former US president using joint appearances to air
inflammatory views, especially on immigration, while standing beside the constitutionally

(07:26):
apolitical head of state. Tensions have already been stirred by
Trump's remarks in Scotland this week, where he warned reporters
that immigration was killing Europe and declared you better get
your act together or you're not going to have Europe anymore.
One civil servant involved in the planning admitted the trouble
with Trump is he doesn't feel bound by the rules.

(07:47):
Prince William may be the future king, but it seems
Princess Anne wished he'd pull a bit more royal weight
in the meantime. In a new profile ahead of her
seventy fifth birthday, The Sunday Times reports it Anne is
quietly irritated that she's still handling the bulk of investiture
ceremonies these formal occasions where honors are handed out, especially
since William lives just down the road from Windsor Castle,

(08:09):
where many of these events are held. She's still doing
most of the investitures at Winsor, even though William lives there.
It annoys her, a source close to the princess told
the paper. Several sources suggest Anne would like to see
William take on more of what they call the bread
and butter duties, like those investitures, which she continues to
handle with remarkable stamina. Only three royals, King Charles, Anne

(08:30):
and William can lead such ceremonies, and while Charles is
juggling his own reduced schedule and health issues, and William
is either on vacation or managing a tightrope of royal
responsibilities in family life, it's Anne who keeps quietly shouldering
the load. According to a new biography titled Sophie Saving
the Royal Family, author Sean Smith claims that Sophie, Duchess

(08:53):
of Edinburgh chose not to attend Diana's funeral in nineteen
ninety seven because she looked too much like the late princess.
She had an obvious and reasonable excuse. Pallace source reportedly
told Smith Sophie decided it would be too upsetting for
the crowd if she went. She's well aware that she
looks like Princess Diana from a distance, and made her
decision in a caring and thoughtful way. The Royal family

(09:16):
fully supported her. At the time, Sophie was still Sophie
Rhys Jones, the future wife of Prince Edward. She was
often compared to Diana due to their similar crupt blonde
hair and striking blue eyes, a resemblance Sophie herself acknowledged.
I don't deny that we do look alike, she once
said in the nineteen nineties, but I could never compete
with Diana's image. I'm not Diana more palacy, just a

(09:40):
moment in a striking tribute, blending British tradition with rocky history.
The Band of Cold Stream Guards performed at Black Sabbath's
Paranoid outside Buckingham Palace, honoring the late Ozzie Osbourne. The
unexpected musical moment unfolded thousands of fans lined the streets

(10:02):
of London for the singer's funeral procession. Osborne, the heavy
metal pioneer known globally as the Prince of Darkness, died
on July twenty second at the age of seventy six.
An emotional Sharon Osborne was joined by the couple's children, Jack,
Kelly and Amy as they paid their respects during a
city center parade before laying floral tributes of the Black

(10:23):
Sabbath Bridge. Could your surname hint at royal blood? My
heritage thinks so. The Genealogy Platform has released a list
of thirty five surnames that might suggest a noble or
royal connection, encouraging curious users to trace their family history
and perhaps uncover a link to the Crown. Names like Windsor, Tudor, Stuart,

(10:46):
and Plantagenet or make the list unsurprising given their deep
ties to British monarchy, but others such as Darcy, Percy,
nevilland Spencer may also signal aristocratic ancestry. The list spans
centuries and bord is, including houses like Bourbon, Rominov, Medici, Orange,
Nassau and whether you like it or not, Sussex and

(11:08):
they have it. I'd like to email us our addresses
