Calorogus Shark Media. Hello and welcometo a special bonus episode of Palace Intrigue.
I am your host, Mark Francis. If the Royals were looking to
end the Where Is Kate rumors, they have now made things infinitely worse.
On Sunday, the Royals released aphoto of Kate and their children. It

(00:26):
looked a little odd. By Sundaynight, the Royals were in the middle
of a caper. After the photowas shared with the public on social media,
viewers began to express concerns that theimage seemed edited or even ai generated.
News agencies worldwide, including the AssociatedPress, Getty Images, Reuters,
and the AFP, removed the photosfrom their press libraries, citing concerns about

(00:48):
manipulation. AP issued a kill notificationfor anyone using the photo, writing in
an alert to journalists that after closerinspection, it appears that the source has
manipulated the image were placement photo willbe sent. An AP spokesperson released a
statement to The Telegraph saying the photoshows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess
Charlotte's left hand. Others have alsonoted inconsistencies in the alignment of the sweater

(01:14):
pattern on Prince Louis shoulder, aswell as a jagged white line in the
background near his knee. On Monday, Kate said she was sorry for what
she called any confusion over the photographtaken by a husband of Prince William that
was released early on Sunday to markMother's Day in the UK. Her apology
on social media and signed with aC followed prominent picture agencies like AP and

(01:34):
Reuter's withdrawing the image, citing claimsof manipulation. Around ten thirty am UK
time, she wrote, like manyamateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with
editing. I wanted to express myapologies for any confusion the family photograph we
shared yesterday caused. I hope everyonecelebrating had a very happy Mother's Day.

(01:55):
A source told people that Kate madewhat they called minor adjustments to the amateur
family photograph taken by the Prince ofWales. Kate and Williams's motivation was to
offer an informal picture of the familytogether for Mother's Day. The source ads
the family spent Mother's Day together andhad a wonderful day. Another curiosity is
Kate's missing wedding ring. According tothe ITV News, Kate's office responded to

(02:16):
questions regarding her ring by stating thatthe Royal was at home when the photo
was taken. They dismissed any speculationabout her marriage to Prince William by confirming
that it was her husband who tookthe photo. Additionally, it has been
noted that Kate recently underwent abdominal surgeryand may have had to remove her wedding
band ahead of the procedure, suggestingthat she simply hasn't put it back on

(02:37):
yet. Some royal watchers are comparingKate's face in this photo to the woman
who appeared in the paparazzi photo lastweek, leading some to believe that that
was a fake Kate in the carwith Carol Middleton. Another detail in the
photo is a tree filled with leaves. In mid March, Piers Morgan tweeted
the Ballas should release the unedited photoof Kate and the kids a sap.

(03:00):
If it's just a small bit ofharmless retouching gone wrong, nobody will care
if they don't release the original peck, the conspiracy theories they were trying to
kill will get way worse. Royalinside of Deep Crown tells us if I
were in their communications office, I'dbe polishing my CV faster than you could
say bugging hand Palace, the notionthat we're to believe Kate meticulously edited a

(03:21):
photo in seven distinctive spots is borderingon the absurd. If they're aiming to
clear the air, a television interviewmight be the only salvage operation left,
and if that's off the table,it begs the question what's really happening behind
the royal curtains? Omer sco Betweeted, It's fair to say that most
photos released by the Officers of PublicFigures have been retouched in some ways,
so if this was an isolated incident, then it would just be an unfortunate

(03:46):
error. But with the Palace's longhistory of line covering up and even issuing
statements on behalf of family members withouttheir permission CCE Prince Harry, it's becoming
increasingly difficult for the public to believea word and now photo they share.
Gaining that back at this point isan almost impossible task. Kensington Palace said
on Monday they would not be releasingthe untouched photo. Palace entry will be

(04:11):
right back. ITV's Chris Ship calledit the photo that made everything worse.
Ship wrote it was supposed to showa happy princess with her children on Mother's
Day, while also showing the worldthat Kate was fined. Despite all the
wild conspiracy theories of recent weeks,Kensington Palace has achieved exactly the opposite.
It started with a missing wedding ringon Kate's hand, which was explained away

(04:33):
by her office, who responded bysaying that she was at home and in
any event, it was her husbandwho took the photo, and then came
the withdrawal of the image by majorglobal picture agencies. We now have a
new round of conspiracy theories and perhapsworse, widespread mockery of the palace and
major issues of trust in the informationit provides. So is this simply a
case of a clumsy bit of photoshoppingin order to make all four subjects look

(04:58):
their best. It's notoriously different toget a good snap when you have three
children in the same photo. Didsomeone swap in one or more of the
children from one of the other attemptsor takes. If that were the case,
then it is a clumsy error whichhas widespread consequences because, after all
the rumors about Kate's health, adigitally altered photograph was not going to make
those rumors go away. In fact, they've simply grow an overnight. Now

(05:20):
conspiracy theorists are questioning whether this wasa recent or much older image of Kate,
and whether the Palace is trying tohide something about her health. The
thing is, Kensington Palace did nothave to issue this Mother's Day photo at
all. They had said the Princessof Wales would be off duty until at
least Easter following her surgery in January. They could have stut to that line
and lived with the conspiracies, whichwere always going to find a home on

(05:42):
social media somewhere. But now theyhave a whole new set of conspiracies thriving
online, and these ones are oftheir own making. In The Guardian,
Simon Jenkins writes, the moral ofKate's picture editing debucle is simple. The
Royal family should tell all not sinceTrotsky vanished from the Soviet Bureau portrait has
photo editing caused such a storm? What dark secrets lie behind the daughter's misaligned

(06:05):
sweater, the blurred skirt and thetwisted zip. What dynastic horror is being
concealed by the Princess of Wales's missingwedding ring? What are we not being
told? Questions over the Princess's abdominaloperation follow hard on the heels of those
over the King's cancer. Both suggestsomething has been seriously wrong with the health
of senior members of the royal family, something that they want to keep private.

(06:27):
It has not worked. The subtlestof art forms public manipulation has gone
awry. The Palace must be askingwhere is some nonsense from Prince Harry when
we need it most. Queen Elizabethpresented her monarchy and full historic majesty,
represented by an extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins, within a state
of palaces, titles and functions, all involving serious money. There was only

(06:48):
one form of legitimacy in this approachthat it was popular. British Royalty relied
on its celebrity promoted worldwide. Broadlyspeaking, it worked. The Queen,
King Charles and Prince William have beenideal cast if others didn't follow the script.
Princess Margaret and Diana and Prince Harry, they were almost perfect foils but
to the end of time, theinstitution of monarchy will depend on popular support.

(07:10):
That's why it's handling of the mediais crucial. Press offices are its
brigade of guards. The iron lawof celebrity states that there can be no
such thing as privacy. There maybe sympathy, there may be understanding,
but there is no secrecy. Thecolumn inches and websites, once brought to
life, are aching to be filled. They ache even more today, galvinized
by an undisciplined and unregulated digital media, free to pour its poison into a

(07:33):
world where lies are cash. Thesocial media treatment of the health of the
Princess of Wales has been disgusting. That such material should be unpoliced and legal
is a scandal. The moral ofthe editing of the royal picture is simple.
Tell all public relations in crisis.Consultant Mark Borkowski told The Telegraph,
it's plausible she's at home playing withthe computer and using an AI tool,

(07:54):
But if they're really going to regainany sort of trust, they should just
release the unedited photo. Can't bethat bad if they just made a few
tweaks. I find that they haverisen to the challenge provided the statement as
an explanation. The question is,with all the conspiracy theories running around,
is whether people believe it, andI'm not sure they will. He added,
the photograph had exposed a public relationsproblem for the monarchy. That's the

(08:15):
issue. There doesn't seem to bethat much joined up strategic thinking at the
heart of the royal family at themoment, which leads to these problems where
it's very difficult organization to manage. In terms of pr it's a nightmare.
Even the softer stories of Edward turningsixty this week haven't really resonated at all
because no one's interested in them. They're interested in the stars, They're not
interested in the supporting cast, andthat is a problem. At the moment.

(08:37):
They are under pressure, massively underpressure. This is a massive own
goal. Queen Camilla is scheduled toleave the Commonwealthay activities. Several protesters were
seen holding science which read down withthe Crown. Presumably they mean the monarchy
and are not just upset at Netflix. King Charles released a video looking older,
with grayer and thinner hair and presumablynot generated by AI. In his

(09:00):
annual address to the Family of Nations, the King said in recent weeks,
I have been most deeply touched byyour wonderfully kind and thoughtful good wishes for
my health, and in return canonly continue to serve you to the best
of my ability throughout the Commonwealth, the King said in his video message,
which will be featured in the service. My belief in our shared endeavors and
in the potential of our people remainsassured and as strong as it has ever

(09:22):
been. I have no doubt thatwe will continue to support one another across
the Commonwealth as together we continue thisvital journey and they have it like to
