What is it like to feel thepresence of a bigfoot near you? Anthony

(01:10):
Tyler sent in his story to ParanormalityMagazine. Here's what he wrote. I
have a tale for you that myfriends say is classified as a textbook class
B sasquatch encounter. Another way toput it is that I heard a series
of wild sounds quite near to meout in the woods, but I didn't
catch any sort of visual. Nonetheless, I think it's a very curious encounter

(01:34):
that even has a small twist inturn or two, and I'd like to
share it with you, but firstallow me to briefly explain some things.
I am not a Sasquatch enthusiast exactly, but growing up in Anchorage, Alaska,
I certainly found a general interest inthe topic, and I've always been
a cryptozoology enthusiast. A large partof my interest in these topics stems from

(01:57):
my fascination with the mystic or transcendental. For no short amount of time,
I have pondered the connection between thearchetypal and the cryptozoological, and I've even
gone so far as to analyze cryptidencounters similar to how a psychologist would analyze
these symbolic components of a dream.I think there is a lot of value
to this line of thinking, andas a cherry on top here, I've

(02:22):
long since enjoyed posing the question toopen minded people. Could someone summon a
bigfoot in the woods if they triedhard enough? Rest assured that as long
as someone is open minded enough tosimply enjoy the fun of the question,
everyone has an interesting time trying toanswer. It was some years after first

(02:43):
asking this question that I learned ifNative American beliefs regarding what can only be
described as sasquatch, especially in theAmerican Pacific Northwest, and these beliefs lend
some credence to this mystical notion ofBigfoot. The hairy archetype always finds it
self positioned as a sort of gatekeeperand protector of the wilderness, except in

(03:05):
rare cases when it comes across asmore nefarious. With that in mind,
on the second week of April twentytwenty four, I drove from Florida to
Georgia to visit some of my familyfor a long weekend. My girlfriend and
I were looking to keep our phonesscarce and to just unplug from the daily
grind a bit. The part ofthe family we were visiting is from rural

(03:27):
Georgia, and while they've lived indifferent places for years, they've found themselves
back by choice and even more ruralthan ever before. It's not just kind
of folks say, either. Theylive in the middle of the woods.
There's one paved road that leads outand into civilization eventually, and there are
other houses salt and peppered in thewoods along with my mother's house on this

(03:50):
road. But the closest building tomy mother's house is a deer hunting lodge.
To give some perspective, she hasroughly one acre of cleared land with
fresh lawn in a circle that thehouse sits in the center of the road,
sits in the front, a trampolineand bonfire sit in the back,
and beyond any of that, therest is dense wilderness. Having only lived

(04:14):
here a couple of years, evenI forgot just how remote it was.
Saturday night, somewhere around nine orten o'clock, me and seven other family
members sit around a bonfire in thebackyard facing the wilderness. Everyone's talking about
this or that, and my stepdadnotes how the critters of the night are
starting to really chatter. Earlier on, he had mentioned how we'd eventually hear

(04:38):
coyotes, owls, wolves, foxes, It just depends on the night.
Suddenly, what I can only describeas a whoop and holler pierced through the
forest and our conversations. It wasso incredibly loud that it silenced both us
and the entire wilderness around us inone fell swoop, and it couldn't have

(04:58):
been more than a hundred yard awayfrom us at most. I immediately recalled
some half baked Sasquatch Hunter TV showthat I'd seen in the past, where
they analyzed some supposed bigfoot calls.I had no idea what to make of
it at the time, but Icataloged it in my brain as something interesting
and even striking. On this night, my brain snapped back to that audio

(05:21):
clip, and before I could sayanything, my stepdad said, well,
I'll be damned if that doesn't soundlike a sasquatch. Mind you, this
is not only a man who grewup hunting in these very woods. He's
a man who grew up in acommunity that's always upheld its wilderness survival skills.
He knows his animal calls in thisregion, and while he enjoys the

(05:43):
idea of sasquatch, he has nevercared much about it before beyond that note,
of my family from the area hadever heard anything like this animal sound
before. I later found that thishoop and holler, which lasted for three
seconds or so, is identical tothe classical Sierra sounds, which are a
series of supposed recorded audio encounters thatsome hunters had with Bigfoot in the nineteen

(06:09):
seventies. But I'll get back tothat soon, because that's not the end
of the encounter. The sound wasinhumanly loud and inhumanly pitched, and as
a garage band vocalist from years ago, I am familiar with how loud and
weird people can truly get if theyuse techniques. We didn't pack up for
the night. We weren't scared, but it did leave an eerie, indelible

(06:32):
impression on us all And when mystepdad and I finally put out the fire
at three am, we heard thesecond of three sounds. This sound,
which came in two intervals and lastedfor about four seconds each, is particularly
hard to describe, but they wereequally as close to us as the earlier
hollers. Instead of our left, however, they were coming from the right.

(06:57):
They were shrill, sounding like deathrattles, a lot of breath behind
them, and they crawled up anddown and pitch in a way that simply
couldn't be mechanical. And of course, aside from this, the rest of
the night was dead silent. Sincethe hoop and holler, the entire forest
had remained this way. I'm surewhat to make of it all, and

(07:18):
feeling exhausted from a full day.We had yet to connect the sounds,
but on Sunday and Monday, wespent at least three hours playing the fantastic
recommended tabletop board game Horrified from Ravensberger. And no, this is not a
paid sponsorship. I've never spoken tothe people that make this game, but
I do think it's awesome and it'sa genuine part of this story because this

(07:41):
game just so happens to have aclue type play style that has the players
hunting cryptids like Mothman, Chupacabra, the Jersey Devil, and you guessed it,
Bayfoot. One of the family membersI was visiting on this trip is
my much younger sister still just akid, so I was excited to share
some cryptid entertainment with her. Whilewe weren't hunting sasquatch in a board game

(08:05):
before we heard the sounds, wewere talking about doing it before we heard
the sounds. It's also a curiousnote that on this Monday, which was
April eighth, a heavily anticipated solareclipse occurred, and afterward we played this
board game from our spot in Georgia. We didn't experience anything more than an
eerily odd dusk, but I'd sayit certainly adds some extra mystique to the

(08:30):
whole experience. On Tuesday, mygirlfriend and I made the drive back to
Florida. It only took me acouple of hours of being Hume before I
did some brief research and learned thename and basic history of the alleged Sasquatch
Sierra Sounds. You cannot only hearthese distinct and unique Sasquatch hollers in the
recording, but right after them youcould hear the exact death rattleish sounds that

(08:54):
we heard hours later in the woods. These recordings, conduct did by Al
Berry and Ron moorehead throughout their adventuresin the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the nineteen
seventies, has since become quintessential bigfootlore, similar to the Patterson Gimlin film,
but in audio form and honestly abit more compelling than the footage.

(09:16):
To me. As for the finerdetails about the history of the Sierra Sounds,
I know little, and ultimately thisis a bit of a different subject.
All I can say is that Iheard all these sounds recorded in that
collection, aside from the sasquatch branchbeating sounds that they also captured. By
this time, in my recounting hearingthe sound recording in my living room and

(09:39):
making connections, I was beginning tofeel a little foolish for not realizing an
opportunity to spend a couple hours sasquatchhunting. I still feel foolish for that,
but it was a weekend meant tospend time with family, and I
still hadn't been sure what to makeof it all. Immediately after hearing these
Sierra sounds, I texted YouTube linkto my mother and stepdad to get their

(10:01):
opinions. They listened quickly and calledme back to deliver me a small twist.
Not only did they agree that whatwe heard matched these recordings exactly,
but my mother had heard the whoopand holler yet again, just a couple
hours earlier that night, again aroundnine o'clock. Her fresh audible encounter provided

(10:26):
us with a very unique confirmation thatwe felt grateful for. Quite frankly,
I'm also happy to give credit tomy stepdad for being the first to make
the connection between what I called thedeath rattles and the second sounds in the
recordings. I've been so excited atfirst that I hadn't even listened to the
full audio yet. So I broughta board game about hunting sasquatch, primed

(10:48):
everyone up with some talk about it, and then we heard the sounds.
Then we played the game twice more, experienced a full on solar eclipse,
and as soon as I made ithome on Tuesday, my mother heard it
again and I got all the confirmationI needed to make me feel like I
had missed an opportunity to try myhand in bigfoot hunting. I don't think
I would have found anything, butif nothing else, I would have done

(11:11):
it for the story. If theykeep hearing sounds, I almost assuredly make
the drive back out there to lookaround for now, given the distance I'm
on standby, So did we Jumanjiourselves into a bigfoot sighting over that weekend?
Did My involvement with the mystical andunexplainable, combined with my little sister's
genuine childlike fascination and even a solareclipse, proved to produce what my friend

(11:37):
Sriah Asketh calls a poltergeist to thewilderness. I think If we're going down
these lines of thought, it's alsoworth considering that I have lately spent some
time on what some would call aprosperity bowl filled with sand and other highly
specific items, in order to focusmy mind and attention on personal prosperity in

(11:58):
general. Sasquat certainly wasn't on mymind with any of this, but maybe
it helped with some of the chaostheory of the situation. Whatever truly happened,
I leave that for you to decide, but my mind tends to always
lean to the transcendental. I'm certainit was not a person in any case,

(12:20):
nor was it a common animal ora machine. So either it was
a flesh and blood sasquatch or itwas a mystical gatekeeper of the wilderness that
has physical aspects similar to the aforementionedpoltergeist activity. That's my two cents.
But then again, I'm just themessenger, So if you ask me,
this is a textbook class B sasquatchencounter. But it's also a story about

(12:45):
how I learned to stress a littleless and apparently summon a sasquatch on accident.
If there's one thing I know forsure, though, it's that I
would not bet a lot of moneyon me pulling it off twice. For
those of you who've not heard theSierra Sounds before, here is the audio
recording. There's a lot of hissas it was recorded on cassette in nineteen

(13:07):
seventy one. The audio is recordedby Ron Moorehead. At points in the
video, the hunters mimic the noisesthey're hearing. I've cut those out so
all you hear are the Sasquatch orbigfoot noises before. Ron and his team

(14:30):
wanted scientific validation of the sounds theyexperienced at the camp, and they submitted
their tapes to doctor R. LynnKerlin, professor of electrical engineering at the
University of Wyoming. The analysis revealedthat the sounds were made by a creature
physically larger than a man, basedon pitch and sound height estimated between seven
foot three and eight feet. Therewas more than one creature recorded the format.

(14:54):
Frequencies found were clearly lower than humanand their distribution does not indicate that
they were a product of human vocalizationsor speed alteration. It also concluded that
the tape shows no indication of beingpre recorded or re recorded granted, the
recording is very loud and noisy dueto it being recorded so long ago,

(15:16):
nineteen seventy one. So I've goneback in and I have tried to clean
it up a bit using some digitalremastering and some noise reduction, and this
is what I came up with.Bigfoot or not, it would definitely be
something eerie to hear in the middleof the night. So what do you

(16:30):
think, Bigfoot or something else.Want more Paranormality? Subscribe to Paranormality Magazine

Paranormalitymag dot com. Werewolves have prowledour nightmares and campfire stories for centuries,

(18:04):
but do these mythical man beasts reallywalk among us today? John Beale
from Paranormality Magazine set out to investigatethe history of werewolf legends and search for
evidence thatcanthropes still lurk in the shadows. Modern pop culture has embraced the werewolf
in movies, TV shows, andbooks, but global folklore, tracing back

(18:29):
thousands of years, warns people tofear the wolfmen. Ancient Greek myths told
of king Lykon being transformed into aravenous wolf as punishment from Zeus after serving
human flesh for dinner. Medieval Europespun terrifying werewolf yarns to ward off wolves
from killing livestock and stalking villages. The infamous Beast of gevou Daon in France

(18:52):
reportedly killed over one hundred people fromseventeen sixty four to seventeen sixty seven.
Later, American serial killer Albert Fishdisturbingly claimed to have tasted human flesh and
felt transformed into a werewolf. Thesefrightening figures keep the werewolf legend alive in
our modern consciousness, but does anytangible evidence prove werewolves still walk among us.

(19:21):
Sightings persist around the world, fromfarmers and Argentina reporting livestock slaughtered by
upright wolf creatures, to night stalkersin London's Hampstead Heath Park to a hulking
canine beast terrorizing a town in Wisconsin. Intriguingly, witnesses often report the same
chilling details like glowing animal eyes, enormous footprints, and spine tingling howls.

(19:48):
Many sightings occurred during a full moon, lending credence to the myths that werewolves
transform beneath its glow. A moonworshiping cult in Spain known as the Clan
the Full Moon even claims like chanthropygives members superhuman strength and senses. Some
paranormal experts theorize werewolves enter a frenziedstate on full moon nights if they struggle

(20:12):
to control their alter egos. Scientificexplanations for perceived werewolf traits offer rational insights
into sightings. Conditions like hypertrichosis, which causes abnormal hair growth, or clinical
lycanthropy, a psychological condition making sufferersbelieve they can transform into animals, likely

(20:34):
fueled historical beliefs in beastly metamorphoses.Other theories suggest witnesses misidentify upright bears,
or that serial killers don animal skinsto camouflage their crimes. Yet questions remain.
Why do werewolf legends span so manyeras and cultures worldwide. Why do

(20:56):
modern sightings share such bizarre similarities.Could a primal animalistic wildness lurk inside certain
people centuries of repression, forcing itto emerge only on nights of the full
moon, Or could were wolves besupernatural beings immune to capture or scientific study.

(21:18):
Though inconclusive, the evidence compels usto keep searching for the truth.
Where wolves might move among us,even now, in cities, forests,
or even quiet suburban neighborhoods. Theycould be your coworkers, friends, or
family members hiding a terrifying secret. As the world keeps investigating, we urge

(21:40):
you all to beware the full moon, listen for howls in the night,
and keep silver bullets handy just incase the wolf men are out there,
and they are hungry. Throughout history, there have been many bizarre cases of

(22:04):
groups of people and objects mysteriously vanishingwithout a trace. These unexplained disappearances continue
to captivate the public imagination and baffleexperts. Here we'll dive into some of
the most fascinating examples of vanishings thatremain completely unsolved mysteries to this day.

(22:26):
One of the earliest and most puzzlingis the sixteenth century disappearance of the Roanoke
Colony in what is now North Carolina. In fifteen eighty seven, over one
hundred English settlers landed on Roanoke Islandintent on establishing the first permanent British colony
in the New World. The colonywas funded by Sir Walter Rawleigh and led

(22:48):
by Governor John White. After strugglingwith supplies and relations with local Native American
tribes, White sailed back to Englandin late fifteen eighty seven to get more
resources, but White was unable toreturn until fifteen ninety due to the attack
of the Spanish Armada. When hefinally did make it back, there was
no trace left of the colony orits inhabitants. Besides the mysterious word Croatoan

(23:15):
carved into a tree. Despite manytheories, exactly what happened to the group
of over one hundred men, womenand children remains an impenetrable mystery over four
hundred years later. Jumping ahead tothe nineteen twenties, we have the baffling
disappearance of Percy Fawcett into the depthsof the Amazon Rainforest. A British artillery

(23:37):
officer turned explorer, Fawcett became obsessedwith legends of an ancient lost city in
the jungle that he named z Innineteen twenty five, he set out from
Brazil with his eldest son Jack andhis friend Ralegh Rommel on an expedition to
finally locate the city, but thethree adventurers vanished in the jungle, setting
off countless rescue missions and rumors.Despite indigenous tribes claiming Fawcet was killed by

(24:03):
an Amazonian tribe, many believe theancient city Faucet sought did exist and hope
it will be uncovered one day.Moving to the United States the nineteen thirties,
we have the shocking prison escape ofcriminal Richard loeb Lob and his friend
Nathan Leopold were two wealthy University ofChicago students who murdered a fourteen year old

(24:26):
boy in nineteen twenty four just toprove they could commit the quote unquote perfect
crime. Both received life sentences forthe killing. Then, in nineteen thirty
six, Lob was stabbed over fortytimes by a fellow inmate and died.
Or did he Some claim he actuallysurvived and escaped prison. Years later,

(24:49):
people reported Lob was living in NewYork and working as a lab tech under
an assumed name. However, thereal fate of Lob remains murky to this
day. Besides individuals, there havealso been many cases of entire communities and
vessels disappearing under unexplained circumstances. Take, for instance, the baffling case of

(25:11):
Antacuni Village in Canada's far North. In nineteen thirty, a fur trapper named
Joe LaBelle walked into an Inuit villageof the Igloose on the shores of Lake
Anjiacuni, expecting a warm welcome, but strangely, the village was completely deserted.
All he found were overturned pots offood, weapons, and sled dog

(25:33):
carcasses that had died of starvation. There was no sign of where any of
the thirty villagers had gone. Despiterumors of alien abduction or government relocation,
what truly happened at Anjacuni village hasnever been determined. Nearly fifteen years later,
during World War II, a similarlybizarre mass vanishing occurred right in the

(25:56):
United States. In December nineteen fortyfive. George and Jenny Sowd and nine
of their ten children were asleep attheir West Virginia home when a fire broke
out. George, Jenny, andfour of the children escaped, but the
other five were never seen again. An investigation found no cremated remains, and

(26:18):
the latter on the home's side wasmissing. The swters believed that their children
had been kidnapped before the fire andsearched tirelessly for decades, but no trace
of the missing Solder siblings has eversurfaced. The open Ocean is the setting
for another unsolved group disappearance, thatof the SS Warataw in nineteen o nine.

(26:44):
This five hundred foot steamship sailed forAustralia for London on July first,
with two hundred twelve passengers and crewaboard. After stopping in South Africa.
July twenty sixth, the ship headedout across the Indian Ocean towards its next
stop in Australia, but was neverheard from again. No distress signals were
received, despite the Warata having advancedwireless communication for its time. Documents later

(27:10):
surfaced indicating the ship may have beenstructurally top heavy, but no wreckage was
ever found, leaving the ultimate fateof all those on board the Waratah and
ongoing mystery. While we may neverknow for certain what happened in these peculiar
cases, they continue to intrigue eachnew generation. As science and technology progresses,

(27:33):
new evidence may surface that can unravelsome of these age old mysteries.
But until then, vanishing colonies, mutated prisoners, abandoned villages, and disappeared
ships serve as strange and unsettling remindersthat some secrets of history still remain in
the shadows. For now, wecan only speculate about logical explanations and perhaps

(27:56):
some more fanciful theories. The unknownfates of vanished individuals, groups and objects
will likely haunt us forever, butperhaps someday, through luck or advanced technology,
new evidence will surface to finally provideanswers in these cold cases. Until
then, we will continue to speculateand theorize endlessly about what truly happened.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
