projects and topics they know you crave, and here in the podcast, I

(00:49):
share stories from the magazine to giveyou just a taste of what you receive
in every issue. I'm Darren Marler, and this is Paranormality Magazine. It's

(01:10):
no secret that the Isle of Whiteis one of the most haunted islands in
the world. Castles, manor homes, hospitals, pubs, roads, cliffs.
Everywhere you look the island is overflowingwith creepy tales of ghostly apparitions and
disembodied voices. It's more difficult tofind a part of the island that doesn't
have a ghost story than one overflowingwith erie. Local legend. One particular

(01:36):
paranormal hotspot, the former county asylumWhitecroft Hospital, is apparently haunted by not
one, but dozens of ghosts.Michelle Fisher brings us the story. Prior
to the construction of the former WhitecroftHospital, patients from the Isle of white
had been sent by boat to NOLHospital on the mainland outside Portsmouth, but

(02:00):
due to overcrowding at Knowl in theearly eighteen nineties, as well as additional
hospital fees for island patients, aproper asylum based on the island became a
necessity. After securing a building locationoutside in Newport, construction on the island's
own asylum began in eighteen ninety four. The hospital, then called Isle of
Wight Lunatic Asylum, admitted its firstpatients in eighteen ninety six. In total,

(02:24):
the construction of the hospital cost aroundsixty thousand pounds, not including the
equipment, and could house approximately threehundred ten patients. At the beginning of
its first year, Wyecroft Hospital hadtwo hundred two patients, with the number
increasing to three hundred four by theend of eighteen ninety seven. In eighteen

(02:45):
ninety nine, the majority of patientswere committed to Whitecroft for mania, forty
nine men ninety three women, withthe second highest number thirty one men and
sixty women committed for dementia. Bynineteen twenty seven, there were three one
hundred and twenty eight patients one hundredand nineteen men two hundred and nine women
at Whitecroft, and occupational classes hadcommenced, where women were taught handiwork,

(03:08):
basket making and knitting, and mailpatients worked on the farm or in the
teelor's shop, carpenter's shop or theengineering department. As with no hospital forty
years earlier, overcrowding became an issueat Whitecroft in the nineteen thirties. During
the outbreak of World War II,the hospital had an overwhelming four hundred patients,

(03:30):
requiring an additional forty beds to besqueezed into the recreation hull. However,
by the end of nineteen seventy five, only two hundred seventy of the
then four hundred ten remaining beds wereoccupied, placing Whitecroft among the lowest occupancy
rates in England and Wales. Duringthe nineteen eighties and nineteen nineties, asylums

(03:50):
across the country were closing as regularhospitals were better equipped to help former asylum
bound patients. The decline of theasylum in the United Kingdom was also attributed
to the passing of the Mental HealthAct in eighteen ninety three and the care
in the Community policy of deinstitutionalization, which allowed some patients to be cared for
in their own home. The timeof Victorian lunatic asylums was long over,

(04:15):
and Whitecroft Hospital officially closed its doorsto in patients in nineteen ninety two,
after nearly a century of service. For the next two decades, the buildings
sat abandoned. The hospital has sincebeen converted into luxury flats and renamed the
more appealing gatcom Manner. Due toits designation as an important historical property,

(04:38):
the building has retained most of itsoriginal windows and door joinery, as well
as architectural details. The flats, however, maintain little resemblance of their former
selves, offering a spacious and contemporaryliving space, and at the center of
the development, surrounded by newly builthomes and converted nurses quarters, stands the
historic Grade two listed clock tower, surrounded by a lovely residence garden from the

(05:03):
very vague records we were able totrack down, it doesn't appear that there
was any disclosed malicious activity occurring atWhitecroft Hospital. While our definition of mental
health and how we treat patients haschanged significantly since Whitecroft's time, the hospital's
history doesn't match the asylum stereotypes offtenpresent in film and literature. We can

(05:25):
thank Bedlam Royal Hospital in London forthose popular tropes. For instance, I
haven't seen any evidence of things likeelectrotherapy and lobotomies occurring at Whitecroft, but
nothing has really been made public onthe lives and experiences of the individual patients,
so it's difficult to get an ideaof what treatment and daily life was

(05:45):
like outside of generalized administrative records. So can Whitecroft's ghosts shed some light on
the nature of the hospital's past. This popular culture has taught us. Any
former insane asylum has its fair shareof ghost stories, and Whitecroft Hospital is
no exception. According to local legend, there are ghosts lurking around pretty much

(06:08):
every corner, making it one ofthe most haunted buildings on the entire island,
and the hauntings didn't begin after thehospital closed in nineteen ninety two.
A resident of the hospital in Octobernineteen eighty four allegedly saw a misty,
white figure standing at the end oftheir bed sometime between nine pm and ten
thirty pm. Two other residents reportedseeing a man with no eyes wandering around

(06:32):
the premises on two separate occasions.During recent renovations, builders claimed to experience
a number of strange phenomena on theproperty. Many have said they felt as
though they were always being watched, and others claimed to feel tapping on their
shoulder by someone or something that wasn'tthere. Other builders have told stories of

(06:54):
seeing the ghosts of former nurses walkingaround as if the hospital was still open
for business. It's said that thebase of the clock tower is one of
the most active places for unexplained activity, and some builders apparently refuse to work
anywhere near that area of the site. A number of witnesses have also reported

(07:14):
seeing the ghost of a former doctorwandering through one of the property's car parks
and occasionally peering into the windows onthe ground floor before vanishing a little invasive
for whoever bought the ground floor flats. Another ghostly doctor's been spotted rushing through
the former first floor wards, wearinga dark suit and cravat with a head
of unkempt hair. He's often seenfollowed by another figure thought to be his

(07:39):
assistant. The former nurses quarters isapparently also filled with paranormal activity, with
reports of doors frequently opening and closingby themselves gatcom manner. The transformed relic
of Whitecroft Hospital stands as a testamentto the island's haunted legacy. While historical
records may not reveal the sinister practiceis often associated with asylums. The reported

(08:03):
hauntings speak of lingering spirits and spectralechoes. As we unravel the tales of
misty white figures, eyeless apparitions, and ghostly doctors, we contemplate the shadows
that whisper the untold history of Whitecraft, forever etched in the fabric of the
Isle of Wight. Here's a glitchin the Matrix story from Reddit user disastrous

(08:33):
Babe ninety. This happened a fewmonths back, but I'm mue to Reddit,
so I'm just now finding a placeto post about it. It was
really weird, and I still thinkabout it sometimes. A few months ago,
my boyfriend and I were coming homefrom a trip to visit my family.
We live in a small second floorapartment that overlooks our parking lot.
We were unpacking the car, bringingstuff upstairs little by little, and my

(08:56):
family had sent us with a lotof food, so one load we brought
up all had to be unloaded intothe fridge. As I was unloading the
food, my boyfriend was standing atthe counter and we were having a full
conversation. I don't remember exactly whatwe were talking about, but it was
something you wouldn't just walk away from. Anyways, He's standing there and as

(09:16):
I'm talking, I turn around toput something in the fridge, but when
I looked back, he was gone. I was confused because again we were
in the middle of the conversation. But I was like, is he hiding
from me? Is he playing ajoke? So I started laughing and looking
for him around the apartment. Aftera few minutes, I was like,
what the heck is going on becausehe was nowhere to be found. Sometimes

(09:41):
he steps onto the patio to smoke, so I opened that door, and
while he wasn't on our patio,I saw him downstairs unloading the car.
I was really confused about how hegot downstairs so fast and why he left
in the middle of our conversation.Well, he came back up a few
minutes later and had to knock becauseapparently the front door was locked and he
didn't have his keys. How didthe front door get locked with him outside

(10:05):
without keys and me not knowing that? Somehow he left the front door?
Is in the kitchen I was in, I would have heard the door open
and close, but I heard orsaw nothing if he had left. I
was also just literally putting something downin the fridge, so I had my
back to him for like a splitsecond. How could he possibly get to

(10:26):
the door so fast and I didn'tsee anything. None of it makes sense
to me. And when I askedhim about it, he had no idea
what I was talking about. It, had no memory of our conversation while
I was unloading food. So strangetime We all wish we had more of

(10:54):
it, swiftly moving forward in anever ending stream, with the present just
the past and the few is now? Or is it? Even scientists still
don't understand what time is as awhole, because time behaves a bit differently
in some circumstances. Did you knowthe clocks on planes and satellites record time

(11:15):
ninety billions of a second faster thansomeone who's standing on the earth. So
if time can change speed, couldit crack, creating a time slip?
Well, I guess that depends onwho you ask. There are millions of
people from all over the world whohave shared their time slip experiences. One
of the more notable stories is thatof a man named Frank. He was

(11:39):
July nineteen ninety six and Frank,a police officer in Liverpool, and his
wife Carol, were heading to BoldStreet to do some shopping. When they
got to Central Station, they splitup. Carol went to Dylan's bookshop and
Frank went into a music store tobuy a CD. As Frank was stepping
onto Bold Street, he noticed itwas quiet, a complete void of sound.

(12:01):
Then suddenly he heard a horn comingfrom beside him. He turned sharply
and looked to see what it was. Frank was in disbelief when he saw
nineteen fifties box delivery truck speeding pasthim. As the truck was driving off,
he noticed that it said Kaplin's onit. Frank looked down to see
that he was no longer standing onthe sidewalk. He was now standing in

(12:24):
the road, completely bewildered by whatwas going on. He headed across the
street to see that Dylan's bookshop wasnow a woman's boutique. Frank then started
looking at the people around him,and he said that everyone was wearing clothing
from the nineteen forties. All ofa sudden, Frank spotted a young girl
in her twenties wearing a lime greensleeveless top, and she was carrying a

(12:48):
handbag that had a popular brand nameon it from the nineteen nineties. The
young girl headed into the boutique andFrank followed her in, still confused as
to where the bookshop went. Assoon as Frank stepped through the threshold,
everything flashed back to normal. Theyoung girl turns around to leave and Frank
lightly grasps her arm and asks didyou see that? She replied, yeah,

(13:11):
I thought it was a clothes shop. I was just going to look
around, but it's a book shop. Afterward, Frank did some research on
what had happened to him, onlyto find out that Crips and Kaplan's were
businesses based in Liverpool during the nineteenfifties. Did Frank go back to the
fifties for a brief time. I'dlike to think so, because Bold Street

(13:33):
in Liverpool is a hot spot fortime slips. It's such a popular area
that there are several YouTube channels andFacebook pages about the strange events that happen
on Bold Street. There's even asubreddit. Another interesting and credible story that
happened on Bold Street is one ofa shoplifter who not only slips the security
guard chasing him, but also foundhimself in nineteen sixty seven. Sean,

(13:56):
who while shoplifting in Liverpool back intwo thousand and six, ran away from
a security guard and headed down HanoverStreet. Frantically trying to lose the guard,
the nineteen year old ran down adead end street called Brook's Alley.
By this time, he was outof breath and started to get a tight
sensation in his chest. He soonrealized that it wasn't a problem with him,

(14:18):
but the atmosphere around him. Seanwaited for the guard to come around
the corner looking for him, buthe never did so. Thinking he'd given
him the slip, he hesitantly walkedback out of the dead end street and
started to walk down Hanover Street again, but he soon realized that something wasn't
quite right. The road looked different, as did the pavement. He noticed

(14:41):
cars driving by that looked very oldfashioned, and the modern road was now
gone. Soon Sean saw that thepeople around him were wearing strange clothes.
When he crossed over to Bold Street, he noticed there were traffic lights where
they weren't before, along with bushesgrowing around the line I see him.
He carried it on walking, realizingthat something was odd. Then he began

(15:05):
to panic. Sean realized that somehowhe had stepped back in time. Then
he remembered his cell phone, takingit out of his pocket. He tried
to get a signal, but ofcourse it didn't work. At this point,
Sean was in a panic. Hespotted a kiosk selling newspapers. Leaning
over the stand, he took alook at the front page of the Daily

(15:26):
Post. There in bold lettering wasthe date eighteenth May nineteen sixty seven.
He wondered what to do, whathappens if he can't get back to his
own time? But about family andfriends? So speeding up his pace,
he reached H. Samuel's to Jewelersand tried his phone once again. This
time it worked with a sigh ofrelief. He looked around to see that

(15:50):
he had returned to the present. But the strange thing was Sean could still
see people walking around in nineteen sixtyseven. When he looked down Bold Stream,
Sean had seen and had enough anddived onto a bus to go home.
He was interviewed by the local newspaperfour times and had the same story.

(16:11):
Now you're probably wondering how a storyof a shoplifter is a credible account
of a time slip. Well, the story doesn't end there. When the
security guard was interviewed, he statedthat when he ran after Sean and turned
down the dead end alley after him, Sean had completely disappeared. Then,
when the newspaper checked out the factsof Sean's story, they found that everything

(16:33):
he said was historically accurate. Sowhat makes Bold Street such a hot spot
for time slips? A journalist fromThe Echo in Liverpool, who interviewed Sean
said, there have been many timeslip incidents reported in this area near Bold
Street, and I believe there isactually a crack in time in the vicinity.

(16:53):
Others believe that it's caused by Liverpool'ssubway systems. The subway runs in
conset circles beneath Bold Street, whichmay cause high amounts of energy to form
a vortex to another time. Afterdoing a bit more research on Bold Street,
I found that it had a verycolorful history. Bold Street was originally
laid out as a rope walk,a long, thin area of land uses

(17:17):
for the manufacture of rope, whichwas the catalyst for it to be known
as the rope Walks. Back inthe eighteenth century, sailors used the street
to measure out rope for the sailingships needed for the busy port industry.
After that, it was the centerof the slave trade in Liverpool. After
the slave trade ended, the streetstarted to transform into housing and shops for

(17:37):
the merchants who worked the dock.I think if you take the fact on
not only the spiritual energy along withthe energy produced by the subway system,
that might just be enough to causea crack in time. Chris Gibson is
the founder of a community and constructionproject called Future Liverpool. In twenty ten,
Chris and his colleague were in thebasement of one of the Bold Streets

(18:00):
shops. They found a disturbing messagewritten on the wall. It said,
God have mercy on all who enterhere, May second, nineteen sixty six,
written underneath that it's no joke Decemberninth, nineteen sixty nine. Want

(19:41):
to hear is a controversial tale aboutorganized crime. Sources say that Unspeakable Torture
was carried out on children by theUS government. This story, which has
been the subject of heated debate, speaks of kidnapped children, mind control tactics,
gruesome man eating monsters, and aband of men in dark suits who

(20:03):
executed the most disturbing government funded experimentson the lives of innocent children. Molly
Briggs brings us the story of timetravel, psychic powers, psychological torture tales
from the Montak Chair. Montak AirForce Station sits at the tip of Long
Island in New York State. Createdby the U. S Army in nineteen

(20:27):
forty two, it's been at thecenter of controversy since its conception. The
military base, then called Fort Hero, was joined shortly by the United States
Air Force and renamed Camp Hero. These two branches of the US military shared
the base until the Army stepped awayin late nineteen fifty. The once Cold

(20:47):
War defense base disguised as a fishingvillage, would from then on be known
as the Montak Air Force Station, although if you were one of the almost
one hundred children stolen from the areaof Montak, you would have soullessly called
it hell. Preston Nichols was oneof those kids. Sources say that more

(21:07):
than seventy boys were taken over aperiod of ten years. Because of the
covert nature of the project, itis still unclear what the program's goal was.
What we do know is that theMontak boys, unceasing nightmares, don't
care about the why. In hisbook The Montalk Project Experiments in Time,

(21:29):
published in nineteen ninety two, PrestonNichols recounted what he remembered during his time
inside the underground bunker beneath the militarybase. Nichols refers to being placed in
a Montalk chair, a chair thatwas allegedly outfitted with electromagnetic technology, allowing
government agents to heighten the children's psychicabilities. One of the boys, Duncan,

(21:52):
was said to have been able toconjure objects just by thinking about them.
Another strange experiment, called the SeaI, allowed the test subject to
see through another's eyes. According toreports, Duncan would become the target person.
He would feel through their body, here through their ears, and see
through their eyes. The target subjectcould be anywhere in the world. Once

(22:18):
located beneath what some locals call LongIsland's Area fifty one, the Montak Chair
yielded time travel anywhere in the world. At least one of the boys claimed
the chair could transport its test subjectsto Mars. Ironically, it was the
discovery of time travel that spooked thesinister scientists enough that in nineteen eighty three

(22:38):
the project was shut down for good. The collection of cruel experiments happening at
the mysterious base came to be knownas the Montak Project. The events took
place, according to a handful ofmen, between nineteen seventy one and nineteen
eighty three, although the project wasnever officially proven. After the release of

(23:00):
Preston Nichols book, multiple people havecome forward to corroborate his story. At
least one of the Montalk Boys recalledpowerful frequencies being used on him to affect
mind control at an underground concrete facility. Montalc Area native Joe Lofreno claims to
have been abducted by government officials. He says he was taken between nineteen eighty

(23:21):
and nineteen eighty one. The man, now in his fifties, was experimented
on at the Montak Air Force Station. He recalled grueling tests being done on
him against his will. At thetime of the terrifying events. Lofreno would
have been between twelve and thirteen yearsold. Under hypnosis, the man recalled
being lured to the base by aloner boy slightly older than him. Once

(23:45):
the boys passed the security gates,Lofreno was snatched up by two men in
dark suits. Walking for some time, he was led down a dark path
to what appeared to be a sunkenhome with a collapsed roof. Lofreno remembers
blacking out, but can't remember leavingthe premises. Curiously, Lofreno recalls standing

(24:06):
in front of Preston Nichols in aconcrete room. He also spoke of seeing
approximately seventy other boys in the undergroundfacility. The boys were all dressed in
the same clothing. It's important toremember the details of his story surfaced in
nineteen ninety two, well before theadvent of Netflix. Another bone chilling experiment

(24:27):
performed on the boys. Included beingnaked and strapped down to a table.
Lofreno remembered wires attached to his headand body in an underground bunker that he
believed to be beneath the camp radartower. What makes the strange story Even
more curious is that all of thevictims Lofreno recalled seeing were male. Is

(24:49):
it possible the military was experimenting onboys to create some sort of embryonic super
soldier. An experiment reiterated by themen that could prove the super soldier theory
involves the agents giving each of theboys a gun. The boys were instructed
to shoot directly at the back ofthe live human head. Thankfully, according

(25:11):
to what surfaced during a hypnosis session, Lofreno merely sensed he was shooting at
a live human head. The targetwas, in reality a dummy. Joelifreno
says the horrific experiments that took placeat the Montauk Air Force Base still haunts
him today. He continues to sufferterrible nightmares and calls the US government agents

(25:33):
responsible for the gut wrenching crimes againstinnocent children evil horrible creatures. It has
been said that the secret underground bunkerwas shut down and filled with cement.
It's also noted that most of thepeople connected to the project were psychologically programmed
to forget the experiments at events completely. A similar tactic is reportedly used on

(25:56):
victims of UFO and alien abduction cameof the dreaded Montalk Chair. As the
story goes, when the project ended, a monster was released from the Montalk
Boy Duncan's subconscious. The monster nefariouslyroamed the multipurpose base without anyone knowing when
or where the Dreaded Beast would reappear. Preston Nichols claimed that to thwart the

(26:19):
hungry man eating monster, he wascalled to smash the Montalk chaired, bits,
sending the hairy beast into the netherworld. On an interesting side note,
Preston Nichols and others stand by theirexperiences at Campiro aka the Montak Air
Force Station. However, nichols bookis touted by some as a work of

(26:41):
fiction. Wikipedia, the least reliable, completely biased information hub on the face
of the planet, calls nichols booka work of fiction because the entire account
was fabricated by Preston Nichols and tosome extent, Stuart's Swordlow. He just
wanted to become famous in the NewAge community. Okay, it's here where

(27:03):
I say that, as one whodwells within the New Age community, I
would like in making up a storyas morbidly detailed as the Montalk Project with
the hopes of gaining fame within ourmotley crew of wayward nymphs. To peddling
a Faberge egg at a blue collarYankee swap. It doesn't add up.
It's like making a seven tier weddingcake for a three year old's birthday party

(27:26):
minus Baron Trump. There's just noneed to overdo it. As long as
you show a little effort. Theparanormal community is kind of a sure thing.
Putting another log on the project's validity, Fire will recall what Ellie Crystal
of the Manhattan based TV show TheMetaphysical Experience had to say in speaking about
the synchronicities of the Montoc Boys. She said, people with the same memories

(27:51):
who didn't know each other trickled intoeach other's lives. Now that's going to
count for something. In the end, the tragic story is told and the
government's secret is out, the happyending at last. No, not really,
No one will ever know the realstory behind the events surrounding the Montalk
Project. The group of less thanlucky Montalk Boys will forever be known as

(28:15):
the brave, unfortunate recipients of thebizarre crimes inflicted upon them by the US
government, or maybe they are trulyjust a group of mixed up, middle
aged, mentally ill men conjuring upbizarre stories looking for their fifteen minutes of
fame. That's the easier story, right, the less complicated one, the

(28:36):
one that allows us all to layour heads on our pillow at night.
As with all things, it's yourown personal experience in life that will fuel
which side of the fence you landon. Author and montalk boy Preston Nichols
died in twenty eighteen from complications relatedto a heart attack. He was seventy

(28:56):
two. One of the most hauntedroads in America lies within the limits of
Adam County in Thornton, Colorado.Riverdale Road is a winding country road covered
in native grasses, cottonwood trees, and tall yellow street signs that warn lead

(29:18):
foot thrill seekers of potential trouble. But is the difficult road the real danger?
In the sleepy town of Thornton,Colorado, the stoic yellow signs posted
along the narrow road help drivers preparefor challenging turns, But what about preparing
for a challenge that's more terrifying innature? Molly Briggs tells us about eleven

(29:41):
miles of terror throughout history. Spookytales of a haunted jogger, a ghost
lady in white, and even aghostly apparition of a phantom camaro have circled
the quiet mountain town for many years. Conversations surrounding the winding eleven mile stretch
of road have made managed to horrifypeople with whispers of murder, hangings,

(30:03):
and betrayal for decades. But whathappened in this quaint Colorado town? Why
do so many ghostly apparitions from daysgone by still linger here? To answer
that question, instead of driving downRiverdale Road for now, we'll have to
take a trip down memory lane. The town of Thornton sits just seven miles
outside of Denver, Colorado. Thorntonwas solely farmland until nineteen fifty three,

(30:29):
when the first plot of land waspurchased, sparking the beginning of the first
planned community. However, let's goa little further back to eighteen fifty nine,
when David Wolpert made his way westwith sixteen other people looking for land,
gold, and the promise of anew life. David may not have
found the gold he was looking for, but he found something of equal measure

(30:51):
love. In eighteen sixty four,David married Catherine Henderson and built a house,
including an underground chicken coop, onninety one one ninety Riverdale Road.
However, as the old saying goes, no honeymoon lasts forever, and David
found himself in a bit of badfortune. The chickens wouldn't grow at a
full maturity, and the crops inhis field would wither away before they were

(31:15):
ready for harvest. But in lessthan a year things were looking up,
and the newlywed couple grew to three. As they welcomed the sun. The
stress of the farm still looming,David recalled sinister stories of witches around town
and decided to enlist the help ofSatan. Walking on the dark side,
David drew satanic symbols on the floorand walls of the underground chicken coop.

(31:40):
It was inside the pen that heperformed ritualistic ceremonies, chanted and sacrificed his
chickens, smearing the walls and hisbody with their blood. As with most
small towns, whispers of his bizarrebehavior emerged. Word traveled fast, and
townspeople appeared at David's property, hopingto catch a glimpse of the devil himself.

(32:01):
Attempting to keep the public at bay, David decided to build a gate
broke. He made the structure outof whatever metal he could find. With
the iron gate complete, the devilfinally appeared and propositioned David for a bountiful
farm. He would have to burndown his home. I think we can
agree that this proposal makes no sense, but there is little about the Angel

(32:24):
of Darkness that does. That night, David set his house on fire,
trapping his wife and baby inside. The small boy and his mom perished among
the flames, and David ran away, never to be seen again. The
gates surrounding the perilous property would foreverbe known as the gates to Hell.

(32:47):
If you cross through the iron gatesand walk toward where the two story brick
mansion once stood, the smell ofsmoke is said to engulf you. Distant
footsteps and tortured female screams are alsosaid to be part of the spooky fanfare.
The area around the Wolpert home, for over a hundred years, has

(33:07):
been known to locals as a meetingplace for a witches or anyone interested in
conjuring up evil spirits. Strange thingsare said to happen along the road near
the old property. A lady inwhite is seen roaming flagging down motorists,
seemingly looking for a ride, althoughas the good Samaritan rolls to a stop
and opens his door, no oneis there. Others have reported seeing the

(33:30):
ghostly figure of a woman in whitereflected in their rear view mirror as they
make their way down the highway. It's speculated that the ghostly apparition is Catherine
Wolpert herself, who's looking for herbaby, or might she be looking for
an explanation from David. Late atnight, as the moon peeks out from
behind the clouds, paranormal enthusiasts havecaptured a glimpse of a young boy sliding

(33:54):
his bloody handprints along the road signs. However, the following day, the
pint sized prints have disappeared. Therehave been strange stories worldwide about objects being
haunted. Haunted items big and smallare supposedly occupied by evil spirits ready to
scare the pants off unsuspecting mortals.Riverdale Road is a place that seems to

(34:17):
be a hotspot for one such objecta Chevy Camaro. As the story goes,
in the late nineteen seventies, aCamaro came barreling down the road wildly,
speeding around the winding turns, andsmashed into a tree, killing the
passengers inside, although in another version, the Camaro hits a jogger, only

(34:37):
to speed off, leaving the mangled, helpless marathon man to die alone.
Since that night, a phantom carhas been spotted traveling down the road.
If you find yourself on Riverdale Roadlate at night, don't forget to check
your rear view mirror. You'll recognizethe ghost car by its one working headlight.
However, if you're not allowed outafter dark, I have no fear.

(35:00):
The phantom Camaro ghost car has alsobeen known to appear during the day.
A disturbing part of American history involvesslavery, a serious failure of mankind
that stretched out over many parts ofthe United States, and Colorado was not
immune to its unimaginable horror. Atnight along the side of Riverdale Road when

(35:23):
the moon is full, some folkshave seen the bodies of slaves, and
some say witches quietly swinging from thecottonwood trees. God rest their souls.
Within the land of Riverdale Road,we've heard tales of sinister Native American shape
shifters lurking about the area, appearingto people in curious ways. When you

(35:44):
venture out into the land beyond theroad, just make sure to remember if
you encounter something unusual, run. There's no telling what tricks may befall you
at the hand of these Native Americansorcerers. It's here where I offer a
parting gift the truth about Riverdale Road. Although it is not lost on me

(36:05):
that there are plenty of reasons tobelieve that there could be some very sinister
things going on there at ninety oneninety Riverdale Road. I wouldn't be doing
any of us favors if I didn'texecute some genuine digging. So, even
as the clock strikes midnight and I'drather be in bed with my cat,
I dig The details surrounding who mayhave died at ninety one ninety Riverdale Road

(36:29):
are scant, to say the least. Trying to find sources for the ghost
stories or even the names of thesespiritual squatters have proven futile. What we
do know for sure is that DavidWoolpert did actually exist, he did marry
Catherine Henderson, and there was ahouse fire at ninety one ninety Riverdale Road
a win right, not exactly. The fire didn't occur until nineteen seventy five,

(36:54):
over one hundred years after the legendaryfire was said to have happened.
The couple also had three children, not just one, and all five family
members lived together in the home untilafter David and Catherine died and their children
moved away. One more thing, and please don't shoot the messenger. There

(37:14):
are no gates to Hell. Thenotorious gates to Hell over time have changed
locations, with most people admitting theyaren't able to track them down. However,
as far as the gates that areconnected to the legend are concerned,
they simply don't exist. They're justanother prop in the maddening, eerie world
of folklore. Spirits are energy, and energy is something that cannot be created

(37:38):
or destroyed. It just is.So. Is there something strange happening on
that long, dark, eleven milestretch of road in Thornton, Colorado?
Probably, But just who or whatit is we can't be sure. As
with any long and winding roads sportingtons of blind spots, there are bound

(38:00):
to be multiple accidents resulting in evenmore fatalities, leaving the supernatural door open
for spirits to roam until they cometo terms with their unfortunate passing. But
for some, that day may nevercome. There's also the matter of the
clientele. These sorts of hot spotsmay attract adventurers may be bringing their ghosts

(38:22):
from home. Not all paranormal enthusiastsare the same, and some dabble in
these seriously dark arts, exciting thespirits who dwell in the sinister realms.
This may lead to the risk ofspirit attachment. Who's to say Riverdale Road
hasn't turned into a paranormal bus stopoffering a ghostly hitchhiker a much needed change.

(38:45):
Whatever the case may be, RiverdaleRoad is a spot worth checking out.
Some experiences wait for the right personto come along. I believe in
the perfect storm, and sometimes it'sabout being in the exact right place at
the exact right time for our ghostlyvisitors to reveal themselves. If you aren't
sure that ghosts are lurking along RiverdaleRoad, go anyway. Venture out into

(39:08):
the wilds of Colorado and look forlegendary spirits. But for best results,
keep the expectations to a minimum. Also, go because it's Colorado. If
the spirits don't get you, thesheer beauty of the area will Thanks for

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
