on cutting edge paranormal projects and topicsthey know you crave. And here in
the podcast, I share stories fromthe magazine to give you just a taste
of what you receive in every issue. I'm Darren Marler, and this is
Paranormality Magazine. Fairy tales have beenenchanting audience for centuries, whisking as a

(01:02):
way far off lands filled with magicalcreatures, heroic adventures, and timeless morals.
From the Brothers Grim to Hans ChristianAndersen, the stories of captivated generations
with their charm and wonder. However, behind the glittering surface of these beloved
tales lies a dark and haunting originthat often goes unnoticed. Here will dive

(01:26):
deep into the sinister undercurrents of classicfairy tales, unearthing the unsettling truths that
lurk beneath their whimsical facades. Let'sstart our Journey with the Brothers. Grim
renowned for their collection of fairy talesthat include classics like Snow White, Cinderella,
and Hansel and Gretel. These stories, though delightful to modern readers,

(01:49):
have their origins in much grimmer folktraditions. The Grims drew heavily from German
folklore, where tales were often brutal, filled with violent and meant to convey
harsh life lessons. For instance,Cinderella in its original form had no fairy
godmother, but instead featured a mutilationscene in which Cinderella's stepsisters cut off parts

(02:13):
of their feet in order to beable to fit into the glass slipper.
The violence and cruelty in the earlyversions of these tales reflect the harsh realities
of the times in which they wereborn. Has Christian Andersen is another celebrated
author of fairy tales, but oneof his most beloved stories, The Little
Mermaid, conceals a profoundly dark undercurrent. In the original tale, the Little

(02:38):
Mermaid gives up her voice and enduresagonizing pain to gain legs and a chance
a love with a prince. Whenher love remains unrequitted, she faces a
tragic fate, dissolving into sea foamand becoming a mere whisper in the wind.
This poignant story speaks to themes ofself sacrifice, unrequitted love, and

(02:59):
the painful transformation one undergoes for thepursuit of an unattainable ideal. Anderson's The
Little Mermaid is a haunting exploration ofthe price one might pay for love and
the longing that can consume a person'ssoul. Snow White, one of the
most cherished fairy tales of all time, conceals a deeply unsettling message about beauty

(03:22):
and jealousy. The wicked Queen's obsessionwith her own appearance and the desire to
be the fairest of them all leadsher to attempt the murder of her stepdaughter
snow White. The use of apoisoned apple and the act of putting snow
White in a deathlike slumber is agruesome twist on the traditional princess tale.
This tale raises questions about the societalpressure placed on women to confront the certain

(03:46):
beauty standards and the dangerous consequences ofjealousy and envy. It reminds us that
beauty, when coveted to an extremecan turn deadly. Hansel and Gretel is
another grim tale from the Brother's grimthat takes us deep into the forest where
a wicked witch lures children with thepromise of sweets before attempting to cook and

(04:09):
eat them. This story has beeninterpreted as a cautionary tale against gluttony and
the dangers of venturing into the unknown. However, it also delves into themes
of abandonment, survival, and theharshness of life in a world where parents
must make difficult choices to ensure theirown survival. The dark forest symbolizes the

(04:31):
uncertainty and peril that often lurks atthe edges of our familiar world. Little
Red Riding Hood is a cautionary taleabout the dangers of talking to strangers.
In the story, the wolf tricksLittle Red Riding Hood by disguising himself as
her grandmother, ultimately devouring her.The message is clear, trust should not

(04:51):
be placed blindly in those we donot know well. While the message is
an essential one for children, thestory day also serves as a reminder of
the dangers that exist in the worldand the importance of vigilance and discernment.
When interacting with unfamiliar individuals. Beautyin the Beast the story of love and

(05:12):
transformation. It is enchanted audiences withits message of inner beauty triumphing over outward
appearance. However, beneath the enchantmentlies a more profound exploration of the beastly
nature within us. All. Thecurse that transforms the prince into a beast
is a metaphor for the hidden darknessand potential for cruelty that resides within even

(05:33):
the most outwardly beautiful people. Itreminds us that true love requires accepting and
taming the beast within ourselves and others. Fairy tales are like mirrors, reflecting
the fears, hopes, and moraldilemmas of the societies that birthed them.
They serve as cautionary tales, moralityplays, and vehicles for exploring the human

(05:58):
condition in all its complexity. Whilethese stories may seem whimsical on the surface,
they're haunting origins reveal a deeper, more profound truth about the darkness that
can reside in the human heart. As you revisit these classic tales, it's
essential to remember fairy tales are notjust stories for children. They are timeless

(06:18):
narratives that challenge us to confront ourown fears, desires, and unsettling truths
that lie hidden beneath the surface ofour seemingly ordinary world. So the next
time you open a fairy tale book, take a moment to appreciate the dark
and haunting origins of these classic stories, and you may find a deeper connection

(06:40):
to their enduring magic. A newstudy led by doctor Sam Parnia and his
colleagues at nyulank and Health has providedcomprehensive evidence suggesting a correlation between brain patterns
of in dyeing patients and commonly reportednear death experiences or NDEs such as lucid

(07:06):
visions, out of body sensations, and life reviews. The study involved five
hundred and sixty seven patients in twentyfive hospitals worldwide who underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR
after cardiac arrest. Electroencephalogram EEG brainsignals from these patients revealed heightened consciousness episodes

(07:28):
occurring up to an hour after cardiacarrest, with some patients reporting awareness during
CPR. And NDEs may trigger astate of disinhibition in the brain, facilitating
an enhanced understanding of new dimensions ofreality, including deeper consciousness, memories,
thoughts, intentions, and ethical perspectives. This finding has profound implications for fields

(07:53):
such as CPR research and of lifecare and the study of consciousness. It
challenges the notion that the brain permanentlydies within minutes of oxygen deprivation and suggests
that it can recover function even afteran hour. The studies results aligned with
a growing body of research on theexperiences of dying individuals, revealing surges of

(08:15):
brain activity during death and common themesand NDEs reported across different cultures and backgrounds.
The researchers emphasize that these experiences aredistinct from dreams or hallucinations and conclude
that they emerge uniquely with death representinga genuine phenomenon. Future research aims to
provide a more detailed understanding of theneurophysiology of life and death as individuals transition

(08:41):
through these states. I was recentlywatching a live on TikTok with Dana Marshall
from one O three to three WKFRin Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he was
staying at the Henderson Castle, whichwhich is haunted, and there were people
in the life talking about spooky stories, and one of them that I saw

(09:05):
was Lee Launie, which we endedup messaging on TikTok and she shared the
following story with me. So thiswas back in maybe twenty seventeen or twenty
eighteen. She said, I wason the phone with my cousin and we
were talking about Wija boards and thefact that they were created by a game
company and it allowed children to playwith them. My cousin and I were

(09:26):
talking about how crazy it was becausewisa boards can be so dangerous and allowing
children to play with it is evenworse, in my opinion. And we'd
had some spooky stuff happen, butnothing where we felt it was paranormal.
But that night on the phone,I kept hearing this laugh and I thought
it was my cousin doing it,and I told him to stop, and
he said he wasn't doing anything, and then he was hearing a laugh on

(09:50):
his end, but his was afemale laugh, in mine was a male
laugh. I texted somebody that Iknow about it, who is really into
paranormal stuff, and said, haveyou ever had any experience with things like
that? And my friend said no, And it was very strange with what
was going on. So I toldmy cousin, let's just restart our phones

(10:11):
and call each other back. Sothat's what we did, and the laughing
kept happening, and I remember i'dsaid someone please help us, and all
of a sudden you could hear aman whisper help us in a mocking tone.
And I had taken a picture ofmy room on flash and you could
see orbs in it. Then allof a sudden, my cousin's Amazon echo

(10:31):
randomly went off and said activated intrudermode, even though none of us said
any of the trigger words or anythinglike that. There are many stories in
the paranormal community where spirits of messedwith communications, whether that be telephone calls
or radios. This short story seemslike that is what happened. An entity

(10:52):
was interfering with a phone call andthen decided to mock them. Irish Shaeffer
sent in their story to Paranormality Magazineabout their house in Berwin. We moved
into the house when I was sixyears old. I always had a strange

(11:15):
feeling about the attic bedroom that Iand two of my brothers shared. One
left in two years for the Navy, and marriage. The other, fifteen
years older than I, stayed untilhe was thirty, going to college and
later working at a famous retailer. This remaining brother thought tarot cards and the
Ouija board were toys and used themextensively. I always felt a presence in

(11:39):
the attic room. This presence wouldseem to be in the room when the
lights were off. I often feltthat a person was watching me. The
feeling was very frightening and evil.I often slept with my head covered.
The basement was always a frightening placeafter dark and sometimes during the day at
cathedral, but to identify a presencein the basement, The doorway between the

(12:03):
kitchen, which also had the entranceto the basement, and the dining room
often felt crowded after dark. Isimply felt that when I passed through that
area, I was passing through agroup of people. When I was about
twelve in nineteen seventy six, Iopened my eyes to see a man dressed
in a blue sequined tuxedo and tophat come out of the closet and climb

(12:28):
onto the foot of my bed.I covered my head and the entity left.
I told no one about the incident. The next day, my mother
described the same entity in her bedroomat the foot of her bed. He
was dressed exactly the same as theentity in my room. I never mentioned
the incident to either of my parents, even though it was obvious that Mom

(12:50):
had been visited by the same entityas me. We left that house in
nineteen eighty three. I've lived inmany places in a few different scesies during
my lifetime. It is not unusualfor me to be transported back to the
house in Berwin in my dreams tobe plagued by an entity. I've even
had encounters with entities in other placeswhere I've lived. In one place in

(13:13):
another city, I remember feeling thepressure of an entity lying heavily on top
of me. I felt the pressureof someone sitting on the end of my
bed. I once saw a beautifulblonde woman come to my bedroom door in
still another city. She also satoutside my living room window one night in
my current city. They are thesame city, though I think she may
have been Resurrection Mary. I dealwith these entities by asking that the Lord

(13:39):
God send out his holy guardian angelsto protect me. I'm now fifty nine
and still experience the disturbances and dreamsassociated with the house in Berwin, a
quiet Scottish village, has gained notorietyas a hotspot for UFO sidings, according

(14:03):
to a prominent uthologist, Malcolm Robinson, one of Scotland's leading experts in the
field, has spent decades studying UFOphenomena and has penned ten books on the
subject. Robinson asserts that Scotland hasbeen a UFO hotspot for years, with
the famous Falkirk Triangle being a particularlypopular location for UFO enthusiasts. However,

(14:26):
he believes that the coastal village ofNewcalls in Aberdeenshire is an even more significant
hub of extraterrestrial activity. Newcalls, home to around five hundred residents, is
described by Robinson as a UFO windowarea where numerous unexplained sightings have occurred over
the years. In his book UFOCase Files of Scotland, Volume two,

(14:48):
Robinson recounts some of the astonishing storiesshared by locals. One of the earliest
accounts dates back to nineteen sixty four, when a motorist accompanied by his brother
ama mother claimed to have pursued abizarre ball of light through McCalls and the
nearby Hamlet Bridge of McCall's before itsuddenly vanished. Another eerie incident took place

(15:11):
in December nineteen seventy one, whena resident named Tom Moyer, who lived
in the western part of the village, reported encountering three strange lights and a
figure dressed in a long gown whilewalking home in the dark. Tom and
his sister allegedly observed these lights inthe same location for several years until he
left for college. Between nineteen eightyeight and nineteen twenty two, Tom continued

(15:35):
to revisit his home in McCall's todocument the strange phenomena before relocating to New
Zealand. His accounts prompted others tocome forward with similar experiences, including an
encounter with the gowned figure in nineteensixty eight. Even a local minister residing
next door to Tom seemed aware ofthese incidents, casually suggesting that a peculiar

(15:56):
looking bolt Tom found could have comeoff one of those spaceship things. Remarkably,
when Robinson's book was published in twentyeleven, reports of UFO sidings and
McCall's had significantly declined. Robinson notedthe decrease in reported cases and expressed curiosity
about the reason behind this decline.Robinson stated, today's mucalls, as far

(16:18):
as we are led to believe, sees very little in the way of UFO
reports, and we can but wonderwhy McCalls, for some unknown reason,
has joined the ranks of other Britishlocations that have seen UFO activity, and
we thanked Tom Moyer for sharing hisUFO accounts with us. He also emphasized
the credibility of Tom Moyer's accounts, describing him as an intelligent individual accustomed to

(16:44):
identifying common aircraft and helicopters, butthe objects he witnessed in New Calls were
beyond conventional explanations, leaving him withlasting memories of those experiences. Bob Bigelow
has stated that extraterrestrial beings are livingamong us humans. He said he is

(17:08):
absolutely convinced aliens live among humans onEarth. During an interview with CBS's Sixty
Minutes, reporter Lara Logan asked Bigelowif he believed in aliens. He replied,
I'm absolutely convinced. That's all thereis to it. He later stated
there has been and is an existingpresence, an et presence. He added

(17:33):
I spent billions and millions and millions. I probably spent more as an individual
than anybody else in the United Stateshas ever spent on this subject. You
don't have to go anywhere to findaliens, and they are here, right
in front of people. Bigelow hadhis own close encounters, but declined to
mention anything else. When George Knapp, an award winning journalist, was asked

(17:56):
to comment during this interview, hesaid, there are different ways to go
at this. So one is froma hardware standpoint. The other one is
from the standpoint of presence et presence. And you know, a lot of
people say, well, whether they'reyou know that they can be among the
population, whether they're hybrids, orthere are some other kind of really lookalike,

(18:18):
you know, kind of thing. But so so you can look at
it in different kinds of ways. And so I know of a really good,
high quality researcher who has fantastic academiccredentials and background, and he would
be predisposed to the latter saying that, yeah, it could be among us,
you know, but he's probably onthe more extreme. He's definitely on
the more extreme. Others would say, well, we're safe in saying that

(18:41):
there's hardware, you know, sothat's among us and hardware kind of context.
As any UAP or UFO aficionado willknow, Bigelow owned an operated Skinwalker
Ranch in the Uentaw Basin in Utah, which is a massive crater from an
asteroid impact. He owned the propertyuntil twenty sixteen, when he sold it

(19:02):
secretly to Brandon Fugel, a realestate mogul from Utah. Skinwalker Ranch ended
up as a multi series show onthe History Channel called The Secret of Skinwalker
Ranch and Beyond Skinwalker Ranch. Allsorts of mysterious phenomena have been recorded there,
both by Bigelow and Fugel. Mostof what Bigelow's team documented has been

(19:22):
kept secret. You can read GeorgeKnapp's book Hunt for the Skinwalker, co
written with Colm A. Kelleher, about events that happened to the ranch owners
before Bigelow bought it. These welldocumented events are what convinced Bob Bigelow to
purchase the property in nineteen ninety six. Skeptics believe the evidence recorded at the
ranch is simply a misunderstood natural phenomenonor a complete intentional hoax. The debate

(19:48):
regarding this is hotter than ever, especially after the television series came out.
Bob Bigelows often shared his personal experiencesand losses that peaque his interest in Life
After Day and the UFO phenomena. He talked about possible links between consciousness research
and UFOs. He also discussed theconsiderable risks of communicating with the unknown,

(20:11):
saying that's been mainly what I've beendoing, except for the Skinwalker ranch thing
for twenty years, as the spaceworld has been huge in my life to
pursue the legitimate parochial kind of youknow, using fire engines, rockets to
get you there. We didn't expectanything like this to happen, and so
there. This is different. Thisis the Holy Grail and is different than
the second Holy Grail. If thesecond one is beings et then the first

(20:34):
one. Is there any part ofyour consciousness that survives your bodily death.
That's a big deal. That's ahuge story, that's gigantic. Be a
little careful about what you wish for. So on the face of it,
communication sounds great, And that,by the way, has been tried forever,
ever since the Oracle of Delphi.I mean, you can go back
thousands of years, and that's beenattempted, so it's not now, you

(20:56):
know, the last one hundred yearsthrough electronics and using some of electrical apparatus
to try to have some kind ofcommunications. And you know, communication can
be at all different kinds of levels. There might be communication that just causes
you an awareness. Bigelow's strong politicalinfluence has helped significantly when it comes to
UFO study. He once convinced hisfriend and then Democratic US Senator Harry Reid

(21:19):
to allocate twenty two million dollars tothe Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program or a
TIP, which investigated UFO and UAPreports from two thousand and seven to twenty
twelve. Most of these funds weresent to Bigelow's private property to investigate the
strangeness, and the allocation was notpublicly known until the twenty seventeen New York

(21:40):
Times investigation. The Pentagon states thatthe program was terminated in twenty twelve,
although Harry Reid later said that hewas not ashamed about the costs. Later,
he and his team hired dozens ofinvestigators, scientists, and support staff
to assemble a vast database of originalinvestigations and UFO files from other countries.

(22:00):
The now famous two thousand and fourtic TAC encounter off the coast of southern
California was one of the first andmost significant cases that BAASS investigated. There
have been theories floating around for decadesthat Bigelow's influence on government investigations is far
stronger than let on. One suchexample is that the hidden evidence is in

(22:21):
the government's UFO slash UAP files, which have yet to be declassified. How
much longer until we know exactly whathas happened at Skinwalker Ranch? Will Bigelow's
organization be partly responsible? If thegovernment ever admits there is life elsewhere?

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
