Speaker 2 (00:32):
Hello, Hello, thank you so much for joining me here
on Passioneer Magazine the podcast. I'm so happy to have
you on. Thank you for joining me, Thank you, thank
you for having me. Absolutely absolutely now I cannot wait
to talk to you. You have so much going on
(00:53):
right now and I cannot wait to hear about that.
But we realize that we may be introducing you to
some new people out there. So my first question to
you is, tell me a little bit about yourself. What
makes you you?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
What means me is I'm very passionate about my religion
based on everything that I went through. It changed my life.
When I died for thirty five minutes, that completely changed me.
Now now you know, it's about trying to help others,
(01:35):
help others that you know that need help. I have
a soft spot in my heart for homeless people, so
I try to best use, you know, myself and resources
to help with that. I have a seventeen year old son.
He's gonna be uh graduating soon, so he's doing well
(01:59):
and moving that I am with somebody. We're both saved,
both born again Christians, so we match up really well.
So that's serving is really big for me.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah. Yeah, and not to mention, and you said something
very important there, and that is that you're both saved.
And I know, many times, especially young people here us,
oh folks, talk about you know, being unequally yoked and
making sure that you're with the right person, and that
gets overlooked, I think far too often, and then we
(02:40):
wonder why we have such problems in our relationships. So
thank you for reminding everyone that it is so important
to have that same foundation. So that is awesome. Now,
what inspired you? One of the things that we're going
to talk about today is your book, So I do
want to ask you what inspired you to write your
(03:04):
book and how does that play into the larger ministry
of the work that you do.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Well. I did mention in my book, I did die
for thirty five minutes and I met Jesus Christ and
he gave me a lot of information. Took me several
years unpack everything, but finally two years after the cardiac arrest,
they finally found out the problem. During that time, I
(03:38):
got a revelation to write the book, write about how
I died for thirty five minutes and I woke up
three days later and I was fine. They put the
iced in just in case, and yes, for the two
next two years after, they still didn't know the course.
So my heart stopped eight more times and I got shocked.
(04:01):
So I went through a lot during that period. But
or inspired me to write the book is as soon
as they figured out the problem, then I was physically better.
It was much much better. So that's what inspired me
to write it. As soon as I was better.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Oh my goodness, I mean, manny, I don't think anyone
can truly wrap their head around what that means. We
hear so many times. You know how important it is
to call nine to one one immediately because your body
just can't function without oxygen for so so much time.
(04:39):
Don't You don't want to go past a certain point
because there will be what they tell us is damage,
and we know that to be true for the majority.
But you know, God blesses us so many times with
these these exceptions to the rule, and you are definitely
one of those exceptions, and it's just and awesome, at
(05:00):
least in my mind. It is a great reminder of
the awesome power of God and how He's moving in
everyone's life. I love that now, speaking of God moving
in one's life. I know one of the ways that
I tried to live out my faith walk is by
being a mediarepreneur, doing radio, TV, doing this podcast, having
(05:23):
a magazine, and providing a platform for faith centered, purpose
driven individuals to come like yourself and share their stories.
How has been an author really helped to shape your
faith journey? Have you found that your faith walk has
(05:46):
gotten better? Has it become more complicated? Tell us a
little bit about that.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
From the day I got back, I was all I
could feel was the love of Jesus Christ, and that
is one thing that cannot be explained. So I mean,
from from my experience, it has brought me to open
(06:12):
up new conversations with different people. I do a lot
of book signing so I can actually interact one on
one with the people. I'm very active with the church.
We go once a week and we help out. We
bring food for the homeless every Saturday morning. So I'm
(06:35):
very active in the church, and I love the one
on one conversations that I can that I have from
strangers about it when I hear about the story. That
that's when I enjoy the most, is that one on
one interaction with people when I hear about it.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah, I can, I can imagine. I mean, we we
get very few of these of these stories. And what
comes to mind is the few stories that we've had
have been about children who have had very similar situations,
different but similar enough in that they were technically pronounced
(07:13):
and but they're back, they're here with us, and they're
telling these stories about how wonderful the interaction that they
had on the other side, so to speak. You know,
So I can, I can imagine that people do want
to hear your story. They definitely want to hear what
it's what it's like, you know. So I love that. Now,
(07:36):
have you faced any challenges in balancing out your spiritual understanding,
because I'm sure you are a new person, you know,
having had an experience. Anytime we go through a trauma,
maybe not as extensive as yours, but anytime we go
through a trauma and we are well, you know, now,
(07:58):
well we have different mindset about what it means to
be alive, right, So do you find that you have
a different understanding of who you are spiritually as well
as as far as your business and career and all
of that is concerned as well.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, I mean it's it's a balancing out. You know,
you got to try and get to to the main things.
For me, those main things are a healthy family, having
a healthy relationship. And also my faith has really grown
(08:40):
very strong over the last seven years since this happened. So,
I mean I've read the Bible many times, so my
faith has gotten much stronger. But it is a struggle
because I mean, anytime you have a book, you've got
to get out to people. You know, you're going to
(09:02):
tell people about it, So it is a struggle to
try and get the word out and you know, live
your daily life and you know, make sure everything's okay
at home. Absolutely, I really balanced. I just Leanna and
Doc all the time. That's what I try and do.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Mm hmm. Now you mentioned and I and I didn't
mean to skip over this. And to me, it's very important,
especially as an author, that you do take the time
to do book signings and I tell everyone go on
a book tours, as much as you possibly can, even
if that means you hit every bookstore in like your
three city community, right like, just get out there and
(09:43):
share with those that want to interact with you. How
important do you think doing the book signings are for
anyone who's trying to share their story, especially if it's
their personal story.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
I think it's it's very important because it's an excellent
way to get to talk to somebody one on one,
and then you can explain the story a little bit
better and give them information about what's in the book,
and you can highlight, you know, the things that really
stick out. I like to do that. I also try
(10:23):
to put videos out regularly to explain, you know. I
try everywhere where I could to get the word out
because Jesus did tell me to tell everyone. So I
think I think with any author it would help if
they do, you know. I mean, if you go to
(10:46):
coffee shops, a lot of them will let you just
set just sat up at table and you just sit there,
sign up, have the books there, and people come to you.
That's a good thing about it. So it's good to
get they are and try different places. Doesn't have to
be a bookstore. It could be could be at an
a church, it could be it could be at so
(11:07):
many different places, but you do have to get out
there and talk to people.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, that is that is a really good idea. I
think that so many times people think that it has
to be this major production, right, like you're spending thousands
of dollars with your face on the side of a bus,
and it doesn't have to be that.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I love that idea.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Go to your local coffee houses because I'm sure that
coffeehouse will also appreciate you bringing in additional business because
you've shared it on your socials exactly. Absolutely, that is
a that is a great idea.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Definitely recommend stuff like that because people they will, oh,
they'll be happy about it. The businesses themselves they'll be
happy also.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
And nothing like supporting small business too. I'm finding that
so many authors are independent authors, meaning that they don't
have necessarily major book deals, you know, with the really
big companies, but they're still selling thousands of books, you know.
So that is that is such a good idea. There. Now,
(12:14):
let me ask you about a term that has become
quite popular within the past ten years, and that's impostors syndrome.
So many people, and especially our young folks are having
a really hard time with accepting who they are in
this present time versus who they used to be, and
(12:37):
they sometimes feel like they're not living up to it
or they're pretending when they shouldn't be. Now, how do
you encourage folks to you know, step out of feeling
like they are an impostor and to walk in this
new life, in this new calling that God has placed
on their lives.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
I point out, don't directly, you know, explain how you feel.
You know, when people are saved. I mean it's a
very very special feeling. So it's good to plant people
out to that. I mean any way that you can
actually relate to people, just get them talking, then you
(13:21):
can actually get your story out. But you know, it
does you know, you got to put yourself out there,
and you know you're really as an author, there's so
much competition. But I noticed once people actually hear about
they're very very happy about it. But that's the thing.
You've got to get it out there. So I mean,
(13:43):
for to be an author, you know, not being in
you know, with a big company, it's it's a lot
of the leg work and you've got to try and
look outside the box a little bit sometimes to try
and reach different people.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
And me to my next question about marketing. There may
be someone listening who they finally got their book published
and they're really excited, and they thought that the heart
part was over. No, No, the hard part is just beginning,
and that is the marketing. And I think that anyone
who is in business understands the importance of marketing and
(14:21):
making sure that you were doing the thing that works
best for your products, for your niche, for your industry.
With that being said, what are some marketing things? And
I want to purposely ask this to you in a
very broad broad sense, and that is, is there any
particular marketing thing that you have learned that you wish
(14:44):
that you had known in the very beginning that you
know now that would have made it a hundred percent
easier or smoother for you from the very start.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Honestly, I think it's confidence. You got, have the confidence
to go out and talk to people. I was very quiet.
I was throughout my life. I'm a quiet person. I
don't engage much all all the time. I normally keep
to myself.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
But you've gotta you gotta.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Gain some confidence in what your work and whatever you write,
whatever the book's about, you have to be confident about it.
You have to, you know, you have to get your
point across in a way that the person understands, because
sometimes people don't understand what's in what's in your book
even though you're telling them. You gotta really break it
(15:42):
down right down to the small steps and that you know,
that's the best way to let people know that. And
you know a lot of social media outlets there are
that can really help out. So there are different outlets there,
but the biggest thing is you got to be confident
(16:04):
in your book and what you wrote.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
About mm hmm. I I couldn't agree with you more.
And I'm finding that the people that are confident, they
have what many people think is an unrealistic belief in
themselves or in their ability. But I always encourage people listen.
(16:27):
If you don't believe, who else is going to believe?
It's your product, it's your service, right, it's it's a
piece of you that you were sharing with the world.
And like you said, if you're not confident about it,
why would someone else be confident about it? So I
have to I have to agree with you on that.
There's we cannot knock the confidence in one own product. Now,
(16:50):
speaking of that confidence, I want to ask about personal brand. Now,
for some people, they have a service and no one
will ever see their face, right because there's a logo
and there's a product, and that's what people care about.
But much like yourself, when people see my brand, they
(17:11):
also see my face, so there's an authenticity there. I
want to always make sure that the things that I
do line up with who I am as a person
and reflect my values, hopes and wishes and my faith
in God. How do you encourage people to let their
authenticity shine when it comes to their personal brand or
(17:35):
if they don't have a product or service, perhaps they
have their product is their book. How do you make
sure that someone stays their authentic self.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I mean, at the end of the day, it's all
about self reflection. You have to take a look at
where you are. You know in the book, whether you
finish it or not, you get a self reflect on it.
You gotta you got to read it, and you've got
to see all the people don't understand that. I mean,
I can understand that I'm writing it, but I have
(18:08):
to make sure other people understand it also, so communication
is the key. You know, you really got to be
careful that you know you're giving people the right information,
but also at the same time, you you got to
be engaged. You know, people want want to see you
(18:30):
happy about what what whatever service you're selling, people want
to see you happy about it and that and happy
and company.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Mmmmm hmmm. So so true as you were talking, it
just to make me think of how we should take
advantage of those spring and summer months, especially since the
weather tends to be, you know, like really good no
matter where you live. If you if you are in
certain parts of the entre, you know, it may be
(19:01):
warmer a little bit longer, but there are going to
be some other places where when the end of the
year comes, so does the snow and it makes it
a little bit harder to deal with travel and all
of that. So let's take advantage of the sunshiny months
to really let people know this is what I'm doing,
this is my product, this is me. So if you
(19:23):
have to resort to perhaps going more just to socials
during the winter months, they were like, but I saw
her in May, like I visited with him in June.
So absolutely, what a good idea there. Now, if there
is a piece of advice that you would give to
(19:44):
especially faith driven authors, because again there is such a
small space many times for faith centered individuals and businesses.
Is there any particular piece of advice that you would
give to those faith center authors out there that are
thinking about writing a book.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Always point to Jesus. You can never go wrong with
always pointing to Jesus. That was huge for me. It's
throughout the whole book, but a lot of Bible verses
I really educated myself on on the Bible and interpreting it. So,
(20:28):
I mean, the thing is, it's you know, you have
to make sure that you understand what you're doing and
that you know you rely on God. You pray. You know,
I did a lot of prayer. I did fasting a
lot of different things to get closer to Jesus in
(20:53):
order to let him guide me. And people came to
me a lot of times. The people came to me.
All the interviews that people came to me, that's all about.
That's not me. I didn't do it. So you got
to You got to keep your faith first. You know,
you gotta keep praying every day and always plants to Jesus.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Mm hmmmmmm. I could not. I could not agree with
you more because we have so many distractions, so many
things that are going to come at us, that are
going to be presented. I always like to say, you know,
in the shiny wrap, in the glittery paper, you know,
the thing that's trying to catch our eye and pull
us in the wrong direction. But if we just stay
(21:37):
grounded in our faith, then it will definitely make it
a whole lot easier. And just sometimes if you don't
know what else to do, I love it spend time
in prayer, right, just the Lord help me. I don't
know what's going on, right, Absolutely absolutely, I love that
encouragement there. Now, looking ahead, I realized that for where
(22:00):
so many of the authors that I've been blessed to
speak with, they said, well, doctor Angela, I had never
intended to be an author in the first place, and
now that I've written this book, I can't imagine not
being involved in the author world. Meaning I can't imagine
not either writing another book or continuing to do the
(22:24):
book tours. How do you perceive yourself in author life?
Will you continue to write and share and be out
there sharing your story with the world.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Yes, Jesus gave me so much information. And right now
I'm really thinking about the Book of Revelation and I
want to completely you know, just interpret it and put
(22:57):
it on paper, let everybody know what means what, because
there's so many misconceptions in the Book of Revelation and
it's not even funny. So that that's my next project
is unraveling the Book of Revelation. And you know, I
very started on that, but I'm not all full one
(23:19):
hundred into it. But I think it's important because I
don't think people understand the Book of Revelation.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
That no, they don't. They really, they really do not.
And so many times, and especially if you were introduced
to it as a younger person, as soon as you
heard that the moon was going to turn the blood,
you shet the book, you know, it was like, absolutely not,
I don't want to read any more of this. That
is that's a horror story. I'm good and we've never
(23:48):
picked it back up, and so many people are are
like that. So you're you're so right there. It is
a book that needs to have a little bit more
attention play to it. Well, Mannie, I have so enjoyed
my conversation with you today. Now I want to put
this into everyone's listening. Of course, the cover of your
book is down below and everyone is able to see it.
(24:10):
But just in case someone has turned away, we know
that it is available on Amazon or wherever books are sold.
But please remind us what is the title of your book.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
It is called Revived by Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Love that title. Love it, love it, love it. And
if someone wants to reach out to you, or if
they want to follow you on socials, what is the
best way.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
To do that?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
If you go to my website revised by Jesus dot com.
I have everything. I have about six pages of all
Bible verses on my events coming up, you know, my
interviews and stuff like that. I have everything on my
website and Revived by Jesus dot com.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
I love it. I love it. I mean thank you
again for coming and visiting with us here today on
Passion or Magazine the podcast.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Thank you
