Welcome everyone to our celebration of the Sunday mass a
ministry of the Passionist Community. It is December fourteenth, the
third Sunday of Advent. And so if you're using a
prayer guide, take out turn to the beginning of Mass,
and let us begin our celebration in the name of

(03:05):
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of
you and with your spirit. And as we gather today
to be nourished by the Word of God and the
gift of Eucharist, let us first pause and prepare our
hearts for this moment, this encounter with God, by asking forgiveness. Lord,

(03:31):
have mercy, Lord Christ, have mercy.

Speaker 8 (03:36):
Lord, have mercy.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Lord.

Speaker 7 (03:38):
May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us all to the gift of everlasting life.
And let us pray, O, God, who see how your
people faithfully await the feast of the Lord's Nativity, enable
us we pray to attain the joys of so great

(04:01):
a salvation and to celebrate them always with solemn worship
and glad rejoicing through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son
who lives and reigns with you, and unity of the
Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

Speaker 9 (04:16):
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The
desert and the parched land will exult. The step will
rejoice and bloom. They will bloom with abundant flowers and
rejoice with joyful song. The glory of Lebanon will be
given to them, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon. They

(04:39):
will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of
our God. Strengthen the hands that are feeble, Make firm
the knees that are weak. Say to those whose hearts
are frightened, be strong, fear not.

Speaker 10 (04:53):
Here is your God.

Speaker 9 (04:55):
He comes with vindication, with divine recompense. He comes to
save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened,
the ears of the death be cleared. Then will the
lame leap like a stag. Then the tongue of the
mute will sing. Those whom the Lord has ransomed will

(05:16):
return to and enter Zion singing, crowned with everlasting joy.
They will meet with joy and gladness. Sorrow and mourning
will flee the word of the Lord.

Speaker 8 (05:30):
Thanks to God.

Speaker 11 (05:42):
Lord Lord, com and save us, com and savorus.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Come save, go.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
Save the Lord.

Speaker 12 (06:07):
God keeps faith forever, secures justice for thee overast, gives
food to the hungry. The Lord says, captives free, call.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Saved, save.

Speaker 9 (06:46):
Reading from the letter of Saint James. Be patient, brothers
and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. See how
the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth,
being patient with it in till it receives the early
and the late reigns. You too, must be patient. Make
your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is

(07:09):
at hand. Do not complain, brothers and sisters about one another,
that you may not be judged. Behold, the judge is
standing before the gates. Take as an example of hardship
and patience, brothers and sisters, the prophets who spoke in
the name of the Lord, the word of the Lord.

Speaker 13 (07:31):
Thanks be to God, Holly, Holly.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
The Lord be with you. A reading from the Holy Gospel.
According to Matthew, when John the Baptist heard in prison
of the works of Christ, he sent his disciples to
Jesus with this question, are you the one who is

(08:23):
to come?

Speaker 8 (08:24):
Or should we look for another?

Speaker 7 (08:27):
Jesus said to them in reply, go and tell John
what you hear, and see the blind regain their sight,
the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf. Here the
dead are raised, and the poor have the good news

(08:48):
proclaimed to them. And blessed is the one who takes
no offense at me. As they were going off, Jesus
began to speak to the crowd about John. What did
you come out to the desert to see a reed
swayed by the wind?

Speaker 8 (09:09):
Then what did you.

Speaker 7 (09:10):
Go out to see someone dressed in fine clothing?

Speaker 8 (09:17):
Those who wear fine clothing.

Speaker 7 (09:19):
Are in royal palaces. Then why did you go out
to see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more
than a prophet, this is the one about.

Speaker 8 (09:32):
Whom it is written.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you. He
will prepare the way before you.

Speaker 8 (09:41):
And then I say to.

Speaker 7 (09:42):
You, among those born of woman, there has been none
greater than John the Baptist.

Speaker 8 (09:51):
Yet the least in.

Speaker 7 (09:52):
The Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he. The Gospel
of the Lord.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
See Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
Just if you were wondering, this is rose, not pink rose.
Just want to you know, the camera can sometimes distort things.
So I'm wearing rose today. In our second reading, Saint
James says be patient until the Lord comes. Patience at

(10:38):
this time of the year, I have a feeling is in.

Speaker 8 (10:41):
Very short supply.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
There's a lot of activities. The tree has to go up,
decorations have to be out. We have to surf the
web constantly to find the right gifts. We greet the
UPS driver, the Amazon driver, the FedEx driver often during
this season, and we wonder whether or not that last

(11:09):
minute gift will get here on time. Sometimes we even
go out to the store and fight the crowds to
find the right gifts. Patience doesn't seem to be one
of the virtues at this time of the year because
we're in such anarticipation. Our liturgy today says rejoice, be glad,

(11:31):
and those kinds of emotions sort of struggle with patients
because we want the gift of Christmas to come, and
yet in some ways patience and joy are the essence
of a livable life. We've got to have patients even

(11:53):
at this time of the year, because.

Speaker 8 (11:55):
Christmas is not here yet.

Speaker 7 (11:57):
We have to live every day with the struggles of
every day, the challenges of every day, the problems of
every day that come at us from many different directions,
and yet we still want to be alive in faith
for the feast that will celebrate in just eleven days,

(12:20):
and so we're asked to be patient.

Speaker 8 (12:23):
You know, Jesus in the.

Speaker 7 (12:25):
In the Gospel today, he's referring to John, but he says,
what are you looking for?

Speaker 8 (12:32):
What? What do you want? And I think that's one of.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
The things that this season sort of puts before us.

Speaker 8 (12:40):
What are we looking for in the journey of life?

Speaker 7 (12:44):
What are what do we expect from our relationship with God?

Speaker 8 (12:49):
And hopefully with a.

Speaker 7 (12:52):
Sense of joy and excitement. We live life even in
the midst of all of our struggles and challenges, but
we do it with patience. We do it living each day,
day in and day out, knowing that the gift and
the presence of God is always with us. I believe

(13:27):
in one God, the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord,
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of
the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light,
True God, from true God begotten, not made.

Speaker 8 (13:50):
Consubstantial with the Father.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
Through him, all things were made for us and for
our salvation.

Speaker 8 (13:57):
He came down from heaven and by.

Speaker 7 (13:59):
The Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and
became man for our sake.

Speaker 8 (14:05):
He was crucified under Ponnschius Pilot.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on
the third day. In accordance with the scriptures, he has
snded into heaven and is seated at the right.

Speaker 8 (14:18):
Hand of the Father.

Speaker 7 (14:19):
He will come again in glory to judge the living
and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

Speaker 8 (14:25):
I believe in.

Speaker 7 (14:26):
The Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who
proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the
Father and the Son, is adored and glorified, who.

Speaker 8 (14:36):
Has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one Holy
Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Speaker 7 (14:42):
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and
I look forward to the resurrection of.

Speaker 8 (14:47):
The dead and the life the world to Amen.

Speaker 7 (14:52):
Our strength and our courage are in the Lord. With
trust and confidence, we present to our pray to the
giver of.

Speaker 8 (15:01):
Every good gift.

Speaker 9 (15:03):
Our response is Lord, hear our prayer. We pray in
a special way for Walter and Rita Weiss. The intention
for this mass today we pray to.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
The Lord Lord.

Speaker 8 (15:16):
Here are prayer.

Speaker 9 (15:18):
We pray for the unemployed, the hungry, and the homeless,
and for those who are ill or struggling, especially during
this holy season.

Speaker 8 (15:27):
We pray to the Lord Lord. Here our prayer.

Speaker 9 (15:31):
We pray for the intentions of our benefactors, the intentions
of our Sunday Mass faith community that will be placed
next to the altar, and for all who are in
need of prayer during this most holy season.

Speaker 8 (15:45):
We pray to the Lord Lord.

Speaker 7 (15:47):
Here are prayer, God of Hope, hear and respond to
our prayers this day, so that joy and gladness might
once again live in our hearts. Through critar. Lord colly.

Speaker 6 (16:16):
Call wildly, even call.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Chaos, you wildly called read recll re peas.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
Friends in faith, pray that my sacrifice and yours may
be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father. May the Lord
accept the sacrifice set our hands for the praise and
glory of His name, for our good and the good
of all His Holy Church. May the sacrifice of our worship, Lord,
we pray, be offered to you unceasingly to complete what

(17:48):
was begun in sacred mystery, and powerfully accomplish for us
your saving work through Christ, our Lord, the Lord be
with you. Lift up your hearts and let us give
thanks to the Lord, our God. It is truly right

(18:09):
and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere
to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal
God through Christ. For he assumed at his first coming
the lowliness of human flesh, and so fulfilled the design
you formed long ago, and open for us the way

(18:29):
to eternal salvation. That when He comes again in glory
and majesty and always at last made manifest, we who
watch for that day may inherit the great promise in
which now we dare to hope. And so, with angels
and arch angels, with thrones and dominions, with all the
hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of

(18:52):
Your Glory, as without end we acclaim.

Speaker 14 (19:00):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
Lorus, worry, oh side.

Speaker 14 (19:12):
In less it is he who calls in, Oh siden.

Speaker 7 (19:26):
You are indeed holy, Oh Lord, the font of all holiness.

Speaker 8 (19:30):
Make holy.

Speaker 7 (19:31):
Therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit
upon them like the dew fall, so that they may
become for us the body and blood of our Lord
Jesus Christ. At the time that Jesus was betrayed and
entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and, giving thanks,
broke it gave it to his disciples, saying, take this

(19:56):
all of you, and eat of it. For this this
is my body, which will be given up for you.
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took

(20:17):
the chalice once more, giving thanks, he gave it to
his disciples, saying, take this all of you, and drink
from it, for this is the chalice of my blood,
the blood of the new and eternal Covenant, which will
be poured out for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins.

Speaker 8 (20:40):
Do this in memory of me, the mystery of faith.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
Sameless, same.

Speaker 14 (21:06):
As you love send us.

Speaker 7 (21:17):
Therefore we celebrate the memorial of His death and resurrection,
and we offer you Lord, the bread of life and
the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held
us worthy to be in your presence.

Speaker 8 (21:29):
And ministered to you humbly.

Speaker 7 (21:32):
We pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord,
your church spread throughout the world, bring her to the
fullness of charity. Together with Leo our Pope, and Robert,
our Bishop, and all whom you call to the ministries
and service of your church. Remember also our sisters and

(21:53):
brothers who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
all who have died in your mercy.

Speaker 8 (21:59):
Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy
on us. All.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with Blessed Joseph her spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and
all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
we may merit to be coeres to eternal life, and
may praise and glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ,

(22:28):
Through him and with him and in Him, Oh God,
Almighty Father, in unity.

Speaker 10 (22:33):
Of the Holy Spirit, all.

Speaker 7 (22:36):
Glory and honor is yours, forever and ever. At the
Savior's command. Informed by divine teaching, we believe pray our fathers,

(23:02):
who aren't in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy Kingdom.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
Come. Thy will be done on earth as it is
in Heaven.

Speaker 7 (23:11):
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us
our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil, Graciously grant
peace and our days, that by the help of your

(23:31):
mercy we may be always free from sin. Say from
all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the
coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Where the kingdom and
the power your glory are yours now and forever. And
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles peace, I
leave you my peace.

Speaker 8 (23:50):
I give you.

Speaker 7 (23:52):
Look not on our sins, but look on the faith
of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with your will. Who live and reign forever
and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always.
Let us share that peace with one another. Lamb of God,

(24:23):
you take away the sins of the world.

Speaker 8 (24:26):
Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away
the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. Lamb
of God, you take away the sins of the world.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
Grant us peace. Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him
who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are
those called to the supper of the Lamb.

Speaker 8 (24:56):
Lord.

Speaker 7 (24:56):
I am not worthy that you should enter under my room,
but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.

Speaker 15 (25:13):
Let me taste to your mercy like rain on my face.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
In my love, show me your peace.

Speaker 15 (25:31):
Let us see with our own eyes your day breaking bride.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Come morny calm.

Speaker 15 (25:53):
Let me taste your mercy like ray on my face.
See in my life, show me your peace.

Speaker 10 (26:12):
Let us see with our own eyes your.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Day breaking bread.

Speaker 16 (26:23):
Combo, morey, calm, combo more.

Speaker 8 (26:38):
Colm.

Speaker 10 (26:41):

Speaker 7 (27:00):
We implore your mercy Lord, that this divine sustenance may
cleanse us of our faults and prepare us for the
coming feasts through Christ, our Lord, the Lord be with you.
May our good and gracious God bless you today and always, father, son,

(27:24):
