Welcome everyone to our celebration of the Sunday Mass and
ministry of the Passionist community. It is November sixteenth, the
thirty third Sunday of ordinary time. Our celebrant today is
Father Jim, the pastor here at the Immaculate Conception Parish.
So if you're using a prayer guide, take it out,
turn to the beginning of Mass, and let us begin

(01:26):
our celebration.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
My life flows on list far off that is.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
No star shape my last well to that rock high
sid Oh canny.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
God see.

Speaker 7 (02:16):
In the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, the Lord be with you and.

Speaker 8 (02:24):
My sisters and brothers.

Speaker 7 (02:25):
You're all very welcome today as we come to celebrate
these most sacred mysteries. Trusting now that through the gift
of the Holy Spirit. The Lord gives us forgiveness and mercy.
Lord Jesus, you are the son of Righteousness. Lord, have mercy.
Lord Christ, Jesus, you call us to live and work

(02:48):
for what is honest and just.

Speaker 8 (02:52):
Christ, have mercy.

Speaker 7 (02:53):
Christ, Lord Jesus, you are the eternal temple of God. Lord,
May Almighty God of Mercy on us. Forgive us our
sins and bring us to our lasting life.

Speaker 8 (03:09):
Let us pray. Grant us.

Speaker 7 (03:11):
We pray, o, Lord, our God, the constant gladness of
being devoted to you, for it is full and lasting happiness.
To serve with constancy the author of all that is good,
through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son who lives and

(03:32):
reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God,
forever and ever.

Speaker 9 (03:38):
Amen.

Speaker 10 (03:39):
A reading from the book of the prophet Malachi. Lo,
the day is coming blazing like an oven, when all
the proud and all evildoers will be stubble, And the
day that is coming will set them on fire, leaving
them neither root nor branch, says the Lord of Hosts.

(04:01):
But for you who fear my name, there will arise
the Sun of Justice with its healing rays the ward
of the Lord.

Speaker 11 (04:13):
Thanks, speaking God, the Lord comes to ruthy earth with justice.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Lord, It comes to the earth with.

Speaker 12 (04:40):
Singing psalms to the Lord with the heart, with the heart,
and the sound of psalm with trumpets in the sound
of all raise a shot before the King the Lord.

Speaker 10 (05:05):
Yes, a reading from the second Letter of Saint Paul
to the Thessalonians. Brothers and sisters, You know how one
must imitate us, For we did not act in a
disorderly way among you, nor did we eat food received

(05:26):
free from anyone. On the contrary, in toil and drudgery
night and day, we worked so as not to burden
any of you, not that we do not have the right. Rather,
we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you,
so that you might imitate us. In fact, when we

(05:48):
were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was
unwilling to work, neither should that one eat. We hear
that some are conducting themselves among you in a disorderly way,
by not keeping busy, but minding the business of others.
Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus

(06:08):
Christ to work quietly and to eat their own food.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
The word of the Lord.

Speaker 8 (06:16):
Thanks be to God.

Speaker 13 (06:23):
Ahlua Ahlua Lua.

Speaker 7 (06:45):
The Lord be with you. Reading from the Holy Gospel.
According to Luke, while some people were speaking about how
the temple was adorned with costly stone and vote of offerings,
Jesus said, all that you see here, the days will

(07:07):
come when there will not be left a stone upon
another stone.

Speaker 9 (07:13):
That will not be thrown down.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Then they asked him, Teacher, when will this happen and
what sign will there be when all these things are
about to happen. He answered, see that you do not
be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying
I am he, and the time has come. Do not

(07:39):
follow them. When you hear of wars and insurrections, do
not be terrified, for such things must happen first, But it.

Speaker 8 (07:50):
Will not immediately be the end.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
Then he said to them nation will rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines,
and plagues from place to place, and awesome sights and
mighty signs will come from the sky. Before all this happens, however,

(08:20):
they will seize and persecute you. They will hand you
over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will
have you led before kings and governors because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember you are

(08:41):
not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall
give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries
will be powerless to resist or refuse. You will even
be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and

(09:04):
they will put some of you to death. You will
be hated by all because of my name, but not
a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance,
you will secure your lives. The Gospel of the Lord

(09:26):
Jesus Christ. One story is worse than the other. And
as much as we think we are prepared, we still
seem to be two steps behind. Scammers, those people who

(09:47):
use every trick in the book to convince us to
hand over life savings, a pension, large sums of money
because of an emergency. Artificial intelligence is now being used
by scammers to mimic our own voices, so our families
think it's actually us who are the ones calling them

(10:10):
for help. The path of disruption and heartache that scamming
has created has made us more vigilant, more alert, But
the one thing that tricks us is the masterful ways
that scammers can deceive us, and the more they lead

(10:30):
us on, the closer they come to successfully cause us
to act. Jesus warns us today to not simply be
aware of the exterior dangers that threaten us, which was
a real threat to the people who were who lived
in the time of Luke's gospel. But the deception that

(10:54):
Jesus is most concerned about is not to be deceived
in doing wrong, but the deception of thinking that we
are doing something right even when it comes to our faith.
Do not be deceived, he says, do not follow them.
And to drive the point home, Jesus uses the temple

(11:17):
being the biggest building that they probably ever saw, and
the one person who is not impressed with the grandeur
and the opulence of the temple is Jesus. What was
a sight to behold for the other people became for

(11:37):
Jesus a sign of destruction. Not because Jesus wanted to
see the place fall down and cause disaster, but because
the temple was not living up to what it was
meant to do. Its purpose was for the honor and
glory of God, and it was not bearing that fruit anymore.

(12:00):
The opulent building became the primary focus, not God, who
dwelt in that temple, who freed his people from slavery.
The deception that Jesus warns us against is the internal forces,
namely our inability to discern what is of God and

(12:22):
what is not. This is not simply a warning but
an invitation to bear witness to our faith by being
attentive to the task at hand of carrying our crosses
on a daily basis and following Jesus with perseverance and
resolve that no matter what threatens us with deception or

(12:46):
overtakes us, will never ever be more powerful than our
confidence in God's protection and his love. Thank you, Lord
for all those perseverings souls, those people who remain an
example to us of your persevering love. So may our

(13:08):
perseverance then build a temple of praise and honor to
You now and forever. I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten

(13:29):
son of God, one of the Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light, True God from the
True God, Begotten, not made consubstantial with the Father. Through him,
all things were made for us and for our salvation.
He came down down from heaven and by the Holy

(13:50):
Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became men
for our sake.

Speaker 8 (13:55):
He was crucified under conscious pilot.

Speaker 7 (13:58):
He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on
the third day. In accordance with the scriptures, he has
sended into heaven and has seated at the right hand
of the Father. He will come again in glory to
judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will
have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord,

(14:19):
the giver of life.

Speaker 14 (14:21):
Who proceeds in the Father and the Son, who with
the Father and the Son, is a God and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one
Holy Catholic, the Abostelar Church.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
I confess when baptism the forgiveness of sins.

Speaker 14 (14:37):
And I look forward to the resurrection of the dead.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
God is gracious and merciful, So with trust we place
our prayers and needs before him.

Speaker 10 (14:52):
Our response is, Lord, hear our prayer. We pray in
a special way for Marissa Parsons. The intention for the
Mass today we pray to.

Speaker 8 (15:03):

Speaker 10 (15:19):
Lord, Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. We pray for the
intentions of our benefactors, the intentions of our Sunday Mass
Faith Community that will be placed next to the altar,
and for all who are in need of prayer. This
day we pray to the Lord.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Lord.

Speaker 7 (15:37):
Lord here prayer, O, Lord, Healer of souls, take to
heart our prayers and respond to them out of your
eternal love through Christ, Our Lord.

Speaker 9 (15:50):
Amen is sad, but you.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Know and t there it is all so to wear
the crown, all the deusible.

Speaker 15 (16:25):
Purpose refused to be son't you it's to caryasy sign.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
What you know and tru there is mor so too wear.

Speaker 7 (17:06):
Pray, sisters and brothers, that my sacrifice in yours will
be acceptable to God, the Almighty and merciful Father, Lord.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
And God.

Speaker 8 (17:23):
Grant. O Lord.

Speaker 7 (17:24):
We pray that what we offer in the sight of
Your Majesty may obtain for us the grace of being
devoted to you and gain us the prize of everlasting happiness.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord, the Lord, be
with you.

Speaker 8 (17:42):
And with your spirits lift up your hearts.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
The Lord.

Speaker 7 (17:47):
Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. And
it is truly right and just our duty and our
salvation always in everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father,
Almighty and Eternal God, for you laid the foundations of
the world and have arranged the changing of times and seasons.

(18:11):
You formed us in your own image, and you set
us over the whole world and all its wonder to
rule in your name. Over all you have made and
forever praise you in your mighty works through Jesus Christ
the Lord. And so with all the angels we praise
you for as in joyful celebration we acclaim.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Lord, Gods, Heaven, love.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Lord, as.

Speaker 16 (18:57):
See the name of the Lords.

Speaker 7 (19:05):
Lord, Lord, you are holy, indeed the fond of all holiness.

Speaker 8 (19:14):
Make holy.

Speaker 7 (19:15):
Therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit
upon them like the dew fall, so that they may
become for us the body and blood of our Lord
Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered
willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving thanks,

(19:39):
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
take this all of you, and eat of it, for
this is my body which will be given up for you.

(20:02):
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took
the chalice, and, once more, giving thanks, gave it to
his disciples, saying, take this all of you, and drink
from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood,
the blood of the New, an eternal covenant, which will

(20:24):
be poured out for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins.

Speaker 8 (20:30):
Do this in memory of me, the mystery of faith
same us.

Speaker 15 (20:52):
The word flood by your crosson.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Yes.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His death and resurrection,
we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the
Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be here in your presence and minister to
you humbly. We pray that, partaking of the body and

(21:25):
blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by
the Holy Spirit. Lord, Remember your Church spread throughout the
world and bring her to the fullness of charity. Together
with Leo our Pope, Robert our Bishop, and all those

(21:45):
who serve the Church, the people of God. Remember also
our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the
hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in
your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all. We pray that with Mary

(22:07):
the blessed Virgin Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph her spouse,
with the blessed Apostles, with Saint Paul of the Cross,
and Saint Gemma, and all the saints who have pleased
you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co
heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you

(22:29):
through your son Jesus Christ, through.

Speaker 9 (22:35):
Him man with him and.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
In him, Oh God, Almighty Father, in the unity of.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
The Holy Spirit. All glory and honor is yours, forever andver.

(23:10):
At the Savior's command. Informed by divine teaching, we dare to.

Speaker 8 (23:14):
Say, our Father, who aren't in heaven, I am that
I can income I will.

Speaker 9 (23:25):
Give us.

Speaker 8 (23:27):
And giving us to be.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
Temptation, but deliver us.

Speaker 8 (23:38):
Deliver us.

Speaker 7 (23:39):
Lord, We pray from every evil, graciously grant peace in
our days, that by the help of your mercy we
may be always free from sin and safe from all
distress and anxiety, as we await the blessed hope and
the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
For the Kingdom, the power and as.

Speaker 7 (24:05):
Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles peace, I
leave you my peace.

Speaker 8 (24:11):
I give you.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
Lord, look not in our sins, but look on the
faith of your people, the Church, and graciously grant her
peace and unity in accordance with your will.

Speaker 8 (24:23):
Where you live and.

Speaker 7 (24:24):
Reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be
with you always. Let us now share that peace with
one another. Lamb of God, you take away.

Speaker 8 (24:40):
The sins of the world.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Have you see God take away the world?

Speaker 10 (24:47):
Have your seiness, Lamb of God, you take away this world.

Speaker 5 (24:53):
Peace.

Speaker 7 (24:58):
Behold the Lamb of God. God behold him who takes
away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called
to the supper of the Lamb.

Speaker 9 (25:09):
Lord.

Speaker 8 (25:10):
I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof.
But only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.

sacred mystery, humbly imploring that what your son commanded us
to do in memory of him may bring us growth
and charity. We ask all this through Christ, our Lord,
the Lord be with you. May Almighty God bless you

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit go in peace.
