Chris, Do you think that I have come to establish
peace on the earth. We hear it all the time
in the scriptures. People like Jeremiah the Prophet and Jesus
become disturbers of the peace. Someone tries to do good
(10:52):
and to remind others what their responsibilities are, and it
causes division. Jeremiah the prophet is attacked for calling out
the destructiveness of the Babylonian king. Jesus begins to preach
and to heal and to feed people. Some were shocked,
(11:13):
others were appalled at his nerve. They thought in equating
himself with God, what Jesus did was to help people
to look at life through the lens of their worth
before God. Jesus's message was universal, but his values brought division,
(11:37):
and for the most part, the ones who were the
most upset with Jesus's preaching and teaching were religious people.
What he strived to accomplish was to help us to
separate ourselves from anything that would be seen as a
roadblock or barrier to a full life with God. We
(12:00):
saw it over again that those who have a questionable
past in the Gospel, they always saw themselves as separated
from God with no chance of return or communion. The
prodigal son thought his father would only bring him back
(12:21):
if he worked as one of his hired hands. Zikius
climbed a tree not only because he was short, but
because his profession caused hardship and bitterness. The ten Lepers
thought life as they knew it was over. They were
too restricted no future existed, and so rattled were they

by Jesus curing them that nine even forgot to thank
Jesus for the healing. Jesus is asking us to keep
our eyes fixed on him because he is our model,
the one who goes before us, the prefector of faith,
whose life, ministry, passion, death, and resurrection keeps us at
